when Milan beat Inter, no i mean, when Milan outclassed Inter(well, for 75 mins atleast ) they had more quality(like you guys want to call them) players.
Ace, when Milan outplayed Inter that day they played without (Ibrahimovic, Cordoba, Samuel, Stankovic and Cambiasso''if my memory didn't let me down'') so it was normal that we out played them and Milan played without Oddo which is an advantage.
I am not saying that if these players were playing then Inter would win but certainly it was going to be much diffecult for us and easier to Inter Like what happen in the last three derbies before the one you are talking about.
Inter has/buy much better players than Milan (Kaka, Nesta and Pirlo are exceptions) and if Milan didn't get some quality players then Inter will equalize the 17 Scudettos that Milan had won, and will increase the gab between them and us in the head to head games.
One last thing it's nice to have Italian players in an Italian team, but claiming that they are better than the other (as players or for the fans) is .............hmmmm lets say a little bet racist, I mean that fans world wide don't whather the team has Italians or not they just want to see it competetive with or without Italians only Italian fans care for that.
Thanks Hasan...
I am troubled a bit by the Drogba rumors resurfacing....of all the "power strikers" I like him the least, more from a personality perspective, than from an objective assessment of his talent.
While he is talented, and fits the mold of the player we want, I would take Berbatov, or even Gomez over the current Chelski player.
A player that gets sent off in a UCL final should never wear our shirt (unless he buys it at a sports store)
I have lost all respect for him, and hope he goes no where near our club....unless its to play against us.
Well, he just might do that. I remembered reading an article that said Drogba (I'm pretty sure it was him) had bought like a truck-load of his own Chelsea-jerseys so that he would have the hightest sale-numbers among the Chelsea players! That guy is looney!

i couldnt agree more. Although i do feel we should have a base of italian players. (i believe all clubs should.... real should have spanish players, arsenal english...) If we signed 5 nonitalians.... our team would still be more than half italian. We are in no danger of losing our identity as an italian club

Nice rumour... :ilol:
http://www.goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=758576
That's a ridiculous rumor. Pato scored 9 goals in half of a season, and you think Milan is going to let him go just like that? Sampdoria... what are they smoking...

Come on, are you serious? He is better than Lahm when it comes to defending? :ilol:
Dude, did you even bother watching the match? Lahm screwed up rather badly... in fact he blew the trophy for Germany... he was slow to respond when Torres was running and Spain scored on that.
Why didnt Löw play him on the right winger in the group matches when Germany played two-striker formation? Löw instead played Fritz who is much better at defending than Schweinsteiger.
Wikipedia says Schweini can play DM, CM, etc. Yes, he can. Its like Gattuso, he CAN play as striker, AMC etc but is he able to do that? Schweini is great while he is attacking BUT not when he is defending.
If we want a viable substitute for Seedorf, it's Schweinsteiger, not Quaresma.
This is the dumbest thread ever...
In other news, Carlo just gave an interview to the Jerusalem Times. He said that he was going to buy Adebayor, Dinho, Eto'o and Huntelaar and Quaresma. When asked how he would fit it into a formation, he said that he was no longer going to use the Christmas tree formation; from now on, he'll be using the Menorah formation, illustrated as thus:
Kalac
Nesta
Dinho--kaka---Pirlo----Quaresma
Ade----Hunt---Pato---Eto'o
Pippo
Oy vey!
LOLL.. Best post in this thread in these past 3-4 weeks!

1) you're totally wrong about Lahm...one mistake doesn't make him a bad player....you used that same line when some didn't want Zambrotta
2) you're probably right about schweinsteiger>quaresma for Milan....but you must admit that if it's pace we're looking for then Quaresma is our man

The difference is Lahm's mistake cost Germany a trophy, and now it's been 12 years. And he did it consistently throughout that match... he was poor defending, despite being good attacking. Zambrotta was rather solid defending... Lahm was not.
Quaresma is not coming to Milan. I know you are one of his biggest admirers, but I'm not. The thing about Schweinsteiger is he is great on set pieces and that could help reduce pressure on Pirlo...
Anyways guys, the real juicy stuff will hopefully come on July 5th when the transfer window opens...

Stop being ridiculous.
Zambrotta was never good with Barcelona... I'll say that right now. But when he plays with his old Azzurri team mates... wow. His performance against France and Spain was rather solid. And it happens to be many of his old teammates play in Milan... so I connect the two together and I'm happy with him coming to Milan.
And don't be editing the post after I made a response. That's immature.

You should watch the games before the final. You do really know why he is moved to the left side of the defence?
I admit he did mistakes not only in Final but also the games before Final but what he's done with the defence's Germany were really good. There was a game before final where he looked like fighting alone in the defence.

Lol, I never suggest Quaresma to substitute Seeodorf nor Schweini. (again and again :)).
I even said that will take Schweini over Quaresma (just I told in my previous post) but I do think Schweini is the right person to replace Seedorf (leftside of central midfield's position).

maybe if I put it in point form you can understand (I won't bother to quote the posts you can look for them if you feel like)
>You said: Schweinsteiger is better than Lahm defensively
>Siregar said that was ridiculous
>You defended your view by talking about his mistake in the final

>You said not when it costs a team a trophy
>I said that Zambrotta costed Barca their chance at the CL trophy
Hence unless you apply a totally different rule for Zambrotta as for Lahm you have contradicted yourself

He was consistently weak in the defense in the semi-final and final, but perhaps this can be attributed to the relatively weak backline in Germany's defense consisting of Metzelder, Mertesacker and Fredrich...
I even said that will take Schweini over Quaresma (just I told in my previous post) but I do think Schweini is the right person to replace Seedorf (leftside of central midfield's position).

Cambiasso played, Stankovic probably wouldn't play even if he was ready because he was in awful form. and we played without Maldini, also. it was a big victory, Milan totally dominated for 65-70 minutes against a side that has a style of playing which creates many problems for Milan since 06/07 season.

playing w/o maldini was an advantage. He gave them the win the first time we played inter last season.

Playing without Maldini was an advantage? No way. Playing without Dida is an advantage. It was Dida that gave Inter the win with his awful goalkeeping work. If anything that game should have been 1-1.
Inter Milan had plenty of other players to make up for it, and Ibra is not that great. Cordoba maybe...

Look at the replay again and you can know its not Maldini's mistake at all. :)

Loosing Maldini compare to Ibra and Cordoba is ridicoulus? What are your reasons? If we hadnt Maldini on the firt game, Inter would fool us. He was the one who covered Jankulovski's position and mistakes and when he was partnered with Bonera in central defence, he was the one who cover Bonera who played pretty bad and couldn't mark Ibra or the other striker at all (in this performance as DC against Inter is one of the reason why Bonera didnt get so much chances IMO after he played regularly as DC for some games.)

We may be forced to look for another striker now. Ronaldo's contract was not renewed, and likely I do not think there will be another offer.
If I remember correctly Maldini gave Cambiasso the assist and Dida gave him the goal :w200:
Ronaldo not renewed :( :(
:depress:

It's when you look at only in the live game but if you look at the replay slowly and tried to look also the positions of Serginho and Cambiasso when Maldini was starting to jump (which means he already knew who would take the ball or who his target was) to head the ball, you will (hopefully) understand the diffrence between very great (legend) player like Maldini and a not-in-top-form Serginho.
i don't see Ronaldo's contract not being renewed as much of a surprise. Realistically we wouldn't have had him until close to the winter break anyway, so at the moment it's not much of a loss.
Doesn't mean we can't renew his contract later in the year, assuming he doesn't sign for someone else. Besides, right now i'd say the club have more important priorities.
Inter-Milan
Listen, Inter were so much better than Milan in last 2 seasons, it's not even funny.
First of all, they finished above Milan with a difference of 36pts and 21 pts respectively.
Second, they scored 4 goals to you in some 60 minutes and would have most probably destroyed you if it wasn't for Materazzi's red card (they were leading 4:1 before his red card).
Then in the next two matches vs Milan they were losing 0:1 and both times they managed to beat you in the end. That shows quality and character.
And finally, when Milan finally found their form for a short period of time and Inter lost it (due to some players injuries) at the same time, Milan managed to beat Inter.
Let me remind you that the match was a must win for a 4th place chasing Milan and it was almost meaningless for Inter (they thought that the scudetto is already won, even if they lose from Milan).
And you're using this match to prove that Inter weren't any better than Milan.
I mean, Juve won 12 pts from the 6 matches with Inter, Milan and Roma. They've beaten all 3 of them and didn't lose a single match.
If i use your logic then Juve were the best team of them all in serie A even though realistically the current Juve team is no match to Milan and Roma, not to mention Inter.
Milan haven't shown any character in serie A in last 2 seasons. Only in last season you were leading in matches with Roma, Inter and Juve and you managed to lose all 3 matches.
Inter didn't lose when they had the lead and they completely deserved the scudetti they won.
They were classes above Milan, however you look at it and one single win by Milan in their mutual matches can't change the fact that Inter were superior to your team.
Take this from someone who equally likes/dislikes both Inter and Milan.

Well, it's serie A talk i'm afraid.
I didn't count the Euro cups appearances because , as you know, Inter won't be your rivals in Europe this year. It's only serie A and looking at the last 2 seasons it doesn't look good.
P.S: I like it how Giancarlo changes the subject when he's speachless.

Speechless about what? If Inter was so much better where are their international trophies? Where are there CL trophies? Inter isn't better than Milan when it comes to the international level. Take what I said in context, and don't make up garbage. I do not like Inter and there is a clear rivalry here. But you demonstrate a clear lack of knowledge here. It pains me to say it, inter spanked us. i hate it. but its the truth. the sooner milan admits it, the sooner they can make appropriate changes so it doesnt happen again!
Sinegar i disagree w/ you. First thing you learn as a defender is, NEVER CLEAR THE BALL UP THE MIDDLE. I learned this when i was 4? Yes didas save attempt resembled my little sisters u10 league games, but you cant deny maldini made a mistake. Guess what?! HES HUMAN! But i prefer to life in reality than some dreamworld. The truth is players get older and decline. Paolo is undoubtedly a legend and his contributions to milan are unparalleled. Also being able to play at a high level at 40 years of age is impressive as any athletic feat ive seen. But that doesnt mean he is the maldini of 10 years ago.

I recognize that Milan has to strengthen itself, and that's why I'm a vocal advocate for a strong forward, and a revamping of our team. Have you've seen what I've said the last few threads? Damn right I'm for the strengthening of Milan. We need to contest the Scudetto and prevent Inter from doing it again. I do not think neither Juventus or Roma are capable of that. I think we are. And without the CL distracting Milan, that'll be more possible.
It also must be said that in many games during the previous season Inter had many dubious penalty kick decisions go its way.
You need to stop misstating what I say.

Where? If you're talking about the overall Scudetto that is true. I'm glad Milan is reinforcing itself to contest the Scudetto. But the first game would have been 1-1 if it wasn't for Dida's major mistake. In the 2nd game, we did win.

people need to get this straight...
When we won champions league in 2007 it was 1 of the worst displayed to win..... our record was 7-3-3. Compare that to other teams who won champions league. Barcelona(in 2006) won 9 games and drew 4,... 0 losses... Manchester united (in 2008) won 10 drew 3 lost 0. If you want to break that down we took 24 points. Manchester united took 33 and barca 31.
Clearly we lucked out, we weren't the most dominant team. We won because kaka made some super human efforts at key moments. And the reason we crashed out this year is because, kaka is human and while he can beat a team by himself its silly to think he will every time

I dont see anyone in the forums being quoted every 10 posts and having a problem with you, that must mean the problem is in you.
You've got too many warnings for my liking and I really am not liking it..I asked you nicely 2 or 3 times now and I'm sure others have. If you dont wanna talk with more respect and accept other peoples opinions (you know, you dont have to reply to every post) then take a hike, if you wanna change then you're welcome to stay. And if you wanna change, you might start off with changing that signature, we are here talkin about football not politics.
Actually it's more like two posters who are up to the same thing. Not 5. Secondly, I'm out of here. Until we start talking about the transfer season, I'll come back into this thread.
You talk about respect? What about the blatant disrespect these TWO people have had towards my own opinions? Why don't you take a hike?
I'm not changing my signature.

What do we need to get straight? That we were better than any other team? Yes we may have lost some, but we were a great team. You can't take overall results like that. You need to look at the end result because at the end of the damn day that is what matters.
It seems you do more bashing of Milan than fans of other teams. It wasn't luck. It was a fact that we won 2007 with skill.
i get tired of dillusional fans out of touch w/ reality who want to blow galliani for signing luca antonini.

Tell me where the hell did I say that Antonini was anything more than just a good substitute? Where did I say anything like that?
You're the one who is delusional. If there is someone who is out of touch with reality and Milan, it's you. You seem to know nothing about your own team.
You do more bashing than Inter and Juve fans.
You cant pass the ball the the middle? Lol
Remember, its not a clear (what Maldini did) but a head-pass (which had a clear target). Dont mix it up.
You know, the best possibility and best option for Maldini to pass the ball was to middle where there was the most empty space in that situation and it would have been a clever pass if Serginho could get it (which Serginho should get it) as Milan could do counter attack.
Something you learn when you are 4 yo, in many occasions you wont obey it when you play real football. Serie A is a real football championship and Maldini is the profesional player, not a school-kid player. :)
I know Maldini is 40 but it doenst mean that people can blame him for the mistake he didnt make.
By the way, have you watched the replay slowly?
I get tired of your insults. Delusional fans? Like who? I believe in speaking in favor of management because I feel you're more complacent than anyone else here.

You're the one who is delusional. If there is someone who is out of touch with reality and Milan, it's you. You seem to know nothing about your own team. That's RIGHT :wth:
You tell 'em Giancarlo :respect: .....Milano84 is complacent because he wants things to change and is delusional because he doesn't see Antonini for the world class player he is. He's also out of touch with reality because he thinks Inter's amazing squad could possibly win three titles in a row....Oh and he's also insulting because..er....er...he wants a REAL left back... Did I get everything? :sweeteye:
people need to get this straight...
And the reason we crashed out this year is because, kaka is human and while he can beat a team by himself its silly to think he will every time
That is only the alibi for Milan opponents in CL to justify why they didnt win the CL in that year. Milan were the king of Europe for 2007/08.
The fact is Milan won it and Milan won it deservedly. Even Fergie admit it by suporting us after we gave his lads a very good lesson.

Adebayor and Ronaldinho have been linked recently....but you see, Milan usually do not talk about their targets so publicly so thats why I think they have someone else in their mind. ROBINHO could be a better solution, he definitely is better than Adebayor and is younger, he also is younger than Ronaldinho (but not better just yet). He does not like the way he is being used as a make-weight in the C.Ronaldo deal so he wants to leave for Chelsea unless Real value him more highly. I also remember Galliani/Braida going to Real Madrid to buy Robinho when we were trying to get Ronaldo so that means he definitely interests our management.... ;)

I didn't count the Euro cups appearances because , as you know, Inter won't be your rivals in Europe this year. It's only serie A and looking at the last 2 seasons it doesn't look good.
Sorry Tony, I think what I bold is out of context as in your post comparing Milan and Inter, you were talking about (comparing) Milan and Inter in the past (last 2 seasons, not in the future like the sentence I bold). :angf:
Milan await Ronaldinho response
Milan are waiting for Barcelona to name their price for Ronaldinho, confirms Adriano Galliani.
“Ronaldinho is an important player and now we have to wait and see what Barcelona's demands are,” said the general manager.
The Rossoneri have agreed personal terms with the player some time ago, but the deal collapsed when they failed to agree on the price-tag with Barca.
After Emmanuel Adebayor seemed to move towards Barcelona instead, Milan are looking back to the former World Player of the Year

Err wrong. Schweinsteiger has proven that he can compete in big tournaments, and he was Germany's best player. As I said he's played 55+ games with the Germans, and have around 15 goals... showing he has a bit of an attacking styling. Schweinsteiger was easily Germany's best player in that final.
I'd like to see Ronaldinho get back in form, but who is to say he will? I had my hopes for Ronaldo to get in his old form... but he is past his best. I say we take a change with a 23 year old up and coming German player, than a 28/29 year old out of form chubby Brazilian who is likely past his best?
Lets take a gamble.

I'm stunned. Sometimes people say I don't want enough, sometimes people say I go too far with wanting a player that can be a gamble. Which is it? I'm a gambling man willing to take a chance.
Shouldn't we try with a young player like Schweinsteiger? He's had like 150 appearances for Bayern by the way (wikipedia).
Heck, I can say we would take a far bigger gamble with Ronaldinho... who could get injured again. Schweinsteiger has been in good health, is young and very strong. He did play in the CL too... and I think he had a few goals/assists.
Well I must go and relax after this. I have no hard feelings for anyone. But I'm strong in what I believe. For you guys, I will change my signature nonetheless.
That is only the alibi for Milan opponents in CL to justify why they didnt win the CL in that year. Milan were the king of Europe for 2007/08.
The fact is Milan won it and Milan won it deservedly. Even Fergie admit it by suporting us after we gave his lads a very good lesson.
I agree with this. (only the year is wrong. It was 2006/07)
In 2007,Milan did have a great starting XI, arguably the best in Europe. Just look at the talent of your best players and you'll see that Milan weren't inferior to any side in the world.
But, as mentioned thousand times here, Milan didn't have squad depth at all. It's hard to find a top team with such a huge gap in quality between the starting XI and the reserves.
It was close to impossible for Ancelotti to give a rest to his starting XI players, or successfuly replace the injured starters, and still win the matches.
While if he decided not to rest his main players he'd find himself in a situation where Kaka, Inzaghi, Pirlo, Nesta, Maldini, Gattuso, Seedorf and Ambrosini would have been dead tired in April already and fail both in serie A and CL.
How important the squad depth is can be seen with Ronaldo.
When Milan bought Ronaldo you finally got yourself someone who can play well and score goals, hence give Carlo alternatives to Inzaghi.
If you didn't have Ronaldo in serie A you'd have had to play Gilardino up front and risk missing out on the 4th place, or play Inzaghi and risk an injury (God knows what would have happened if you didn't have Inzaghi in the CL final)
This is the reason why Milan did so bad in serie A. You had a great starting XI (required to do well in knock-out tournaments) but you didn't have quality replacements (required to do well in serie A).
Inter's starting XI wasn't better than Milan's. It was worse actually. That's one of the reasons why they failed in CL. But their bench was almost as good as their starting XI and Mancini had great options on the bench, good enough to beat Sampdoria, Atalanta, Empoli, Catania etc, while resting his main players at the same time and keeping them fresh for the harder matches.
And where have I opposed the acquirement of a great left back? Hell, I'm all for signing a bunch of new players, but if we need some back-ups then lets have some. Our team is reinforcing certain flanks. We need starters giancarlo....starters at left back ...not subs/squad players
And what is everybody trying to tell me? Insult me like you do every time you make a post? I've made numerous statements that we need to reinforce of defense.
How is that shocking when it clearly refers to the CL? Because you can't win the CL all the time....great teams are defined not only by their performance in the CL but domestically as well Juventus is the best team in Italy because they won the scudetto 27 times....how long are we going to be content with just one star on our badge?
Err wrong. Schweinsteiger has proven that he can compete in big tournaments, and he was Germany's best player. As I said he's played 55+ games with the Germans, and have around 15 goals... showing he has a bit of an attacking styling. Schweinsteiger was easily Germany's best player in that final.

Lets take a gamble. I hope for my own sanity that you aren't comparing Ronaldinho to Schweinsteiger...Ronaldinho is a World CUP WINNER not finalist.....he is a Champions' League WINNER.....Aside from a couple of domestic titles which Ronaldinho ALSO has what has Schweinsteiger (who will be 24 before the season starts) done :dontkn: Ronaldinho has just turned 28 in March.... not sure how he could be 28/29.....he has the world of opportunity ahead of him just to loose a couple of pounds.....Schweinsteiger on the other hand isn't going to float through entire defenses even on top form the way Ronnie does?? Shouldn't we try with a young player like Schweinsteiger? He's had like 150 appearances for Bayern by the way (wikipedia) You should know that Ronaldinho played 8 less games and scored 55 more goals :D

I'm not comparing the two. But this is 2008, not 2002. Schweinsteiger has played very well with Germany and is younger. He can offer us more. Ronaldinho is past his past.
I disagree with you on Schweinsteiger. He's more than capable of it, and he has played in major tournaments numerous times.
I also like his name. LOL. That'll be funny to hear American announcers trying to say.
I just don't know... I view Ronaldinho as a bigger risk... what if he gets another big injury and is out for most of the season again?

He's a recall back to Milan. He's a good squad player. That's all I said. He'll play when needed and will add a little depth to our substitutions. I never said he was world class. You keep on misreading what I'm saying. I never said he should be called up by Lippi or Donadoni.
What the hell though? I think he's a good solid substitution to have on our bench better than say Emerson or Favalli.

There will be no further warnings.
Hopefully if Barcelona get Adebayor their valuation for Ronaldinho won't be too extreme. Plus when you factor in his current shape, fitness levels and the fact his motivation seems to have disappeared, i'm hopeful that we'll be able to get him for around £20 million.
To be honest i'd enquire about Eidur Gudjohnson too, he's a very intelligent player, much like Tommason.

That said,i spoke to a close friend down in Argentina and he said that he was reading in the papers that Milan,ManU and Real Madrid are chasing Radamel Falcao of River.
When i asked of the player he said that he is kind of like Pippo, very quick, can shot with either foot, great without the ball and is one the most incredible players in the air he has ever seen.
So i looked him up on youtube and this is what found.

edit" he's tiny too... can get away w/ that in agentina, i think he'd get eaten alive in serie A
Well i guess people would be annoyed that we went all the way to Barcelona and only got Gudjohnson, but i think he's a great player and like i said before, he's practically a carbon copy of Tommason so he'd be great for the quality of the squad.
He's better than alot of the strikers we've been linked with, though right now he's been hit by a dip in form while at Barcelona just like half of their squad. Some rumours were linking him with a move away from the Nou Camp for just £5 million, i don't think it would be much of a risk.

Adebayor Transfer Unlikely - Galliani
Milan president Adriano Galliani thinks it will be very hard to sign Emmanuel Adebayor from Arsenal because Italian clubs are unable to spend the same amounts of money as the likes of Chelsea and Barcelona.

Adriano Galliani seems to have given up, at least for now, on the objective of signing Emmanuel Adebayor from Arsenal. The Milan transfer guru believes the London side are asking more than what the Rossoneri are willing to offer.
"Adebayor is priced at 45 million euros, these are impossible figures for an Italian club, and indeed the best footballers in the world no longer come here," he said. "When big clubs like Chelsea and Barcelona make their bids, it's impossible to compete because they have more money to spend."
Galliani was more optimistic about a possible transfer of Ronaldinho from Barcelona: "For him an opportunity has opened up, let's see what Barcelona will ask for him and then we will see. I saw him play the other night, he seemed a bit heavy, but the talent's still there."

Adebayor isn't worth 45 million. If Barcelona gets him, they'll off load Eto'o for far less than that... perhaps 30-35 million.

Milan Give Up On Adebayor
AC Milan appear to have conceded defeat in their attempts to sign Arsenal’s Emmanuel Adebayor, with Adriano Galliani admitting defeat and once again underlining the falling stock of Italian football.

The Italian club has been linked with a move for the striker in recent weeks and there had been suggestions that the Togolese striker would be their only major signing of the summer. However, comments attributed to Milan vice president Adriano Galliani appear to suggest that the Rossoneri have all but given up on the striker.
He said: “Adebayor is overridden by continuous requests for €45 million (£35.6 million), these figures are impossible for clubs in Italy.”
Galliani went on to bemoan the fact that Serie A cannot compete with the other European leagues in the same way that they used to, especially when it comes to attracting the top players.
“In fact, the top footballers in the world do not come here any more,” he reflected, before concluding, “When big clubs like Barcelona and Chelsea arrive it is impossible to compete, because they have a much more advantageous fiscal situation.”
The news will encourage both Barcelona and Chelsea who have both been linked with a move for the striker, although it is believed that Adebayor would favour a move to the Camp Nou where he would be reunited with ex-Arsenal striker Thierry Henry.
Adebayor scored 24 league goals for Arsenal last season, which has brought him to the attention of the top clubs.Although he has recently expressed his dissatisfaction with his current talks at Arsenal, it appeared he had later done a U-turn and pledged his future to the club.
Therefore, whether Adebayor will remain at the club or not next season still seems clouded in confusion.

No need to post two goal.com articles saying the same thing basically...
Lets get to other news. This may open the window for the proven Eto'o to be sold for 30-35 million to help Barcelona finance a move for Adebayor.
Can u imagine the riots in Milan if we were to buy Gudjohnson? (without R10 coming along as well?)

NO. I certainly would not.
Barca will end up replacing Ronaldinho & Eto'o with Arshavin & Adebayor respectively. I can't see us buying both of those players, besides i think Eto'o will end up at Chelsea anyway.

City In Big Ronaldinho Push
Manchester City are reportedly refusing to give up their chase for Ronaldinho and remain convinced that they can lure the Brazilian to Eastlands.

Whilst it now seems definite that Ronaldinho will leave Barcelona after having been informed by new manager Pep Guardiola that he doesn’t figure in his plans, what is still unclear is where the former World Player of the Year will end up.
The Brazilian signed for Barca in 2003 from Paris St Germain and has gone on to make close to 150 appearances for the club, winning the Champions League and two La Liga titles at the Camp Nou.
However, he struggled with injury and fitness last season and was also criticised for his attitude towards training. Rumours of perceived dressing room unrest also followed and it was no surprise to hear that Barcelona were happy to let him leave.
Manchester City’s interest in signing Ronaldinho is long-standing but few expected it to last. However, according to Sky Sports News a source close to the proposed transfer has said: “There is still a strong possibility that the deal to take Ronaldinho to Eastlands can still be done.”
Whilst AC Milan and Chelsea have also been rumoured to be interested in signing the Barcelona ace, no firm offers have been made, leaving Ronaldinho’s future in some doubt as the new season looms ever closer
Although Manchester City are unlikely to be the Brazilian’s first choice, the lack of offers elsewhere may mean that City have a chance of pulling off an unlikely transfer.
New manager Mark Hughes would undoubtedly love to have Ronaldinho at the club and he can offer the Brazilian UEFA Cup football and also the chance to play with fellow countryman Elano should he chose to join him in Manchester.
The mechanics of such a deal are likely to be convoluted and may stretch Manchester City financially. However, should the club manage to persuade Ronaldinho to join them it would undoubtedly be one of the greatest transfer coups in their history.

Well i guess technically Galliani is right, with the squad we have we can challenge for the Scudetto ... but we wouldn't be anywhere near winning it.
I wonder why he feels the need to keep saying these statements, it just makes him sound ignorant to everything and a bit of a fool.
Regarding Man City, we can also offer Ronaldinho UEFA Cup football :D Not to mention half the Brazilian squad it seems, so i don't see them as main advantages for Man City.

Heheh...guys I just want to say that you should not get your hopes up. I don't think we will get a forward this summer. We will probably stick with Paloschi. I also don't think we will get any reinforcements of note. Our management are wont to complain, and that's about it. Inter and even Roma are spending money to buy or retain players (look at how much Roma is paying De Rossi). We can mock Moratti all we want, but he cares deeply about his team. Look how often he speaks to the press. He is a man with Inter on his mind. Berlusconi's enthusiasm for Milan seems to be on the decline. He rarely says anything of real substance (this also goes beyond football), and when he does say anything about Milan it is either false or stupid. When the going gets tough, our management blames the fiscal pressures, which are undoubtedly a factor, but our management's laziness is the biggest factor. Were they rational human beings and not morons, they would see that we needed reinforcements a while back. Now all teams know we are desperate and so they are hiking the prices up.
In short, don't expect too much from this Milan this summer. Just see what happens and support this team. Hopefully we can win the Scudetto not because of our transfer campaign but in spite of it.
Forza Milan sempre!
I'm not sure why Boriello isn't welcomed here. Looking at things objectively we have Ronaldo who is (no offence Dru) regularly injured or out of shape and therefore doesn't offer us much ... who has been replaced by a guy who's just scored 19 league goals. I can't see that as anything else but an improvement to the squad.

I think things will happen this season and I think we will get the players we need. I'm more confident. We should loan Paloschi out... and I heard he is going to be. I've seen we already have a few reinforcements as it stands... and two great signings... Zambrotta and Flamini... so I don't see why we shouldn't be able to get more.
I'm confident a forward will be signed.

Guys, it's not that Galliani is complacent.
The boss told him that the money are x, and he can't spend more than that.
Berlusconi would make an exception just in case a great champion (R10) gets free, and frankly 40 M for Adebayor are too much.
EPL and Spanish league are too expensive shops for us. This is the sad truth.
Many say that Berlusconi is not honest, but complain he's too honest!! Fininvest finances all Milan activities. Berlusconi's societies are under strict control of Italian judges. He must have perfect balances, that's why he won't spend big money.

Forza Milan sempre!Hasan, much of what you wrote above is unfair, as Berlu cannot take an active interest in the club while he is the PM of Italy.
As Gio has stated, we have $x to spend, and only if someone really special becomes available, will we spend more.

I think we have two options for our summer mercato
A) Drogba Ronaldinho Zapata
B) Drogba Ronaldinho Ferrari Boruc
I would choose option A
Not only I would rather have option B...
I would rather even have Option B without Ferrari if we were to get Drogba, R10 and Boruc.
It is easier to find a good defender than find a good GK.
I am not sold on Zapata yet, as I am on Boruc.

I will report you what has been reported by some reliable journalists that follow Milan on daily basis (Franco Ordine- Il Giornale).
He said that Don Silvio hasn't the same enthusiasm as 20 years ago, and after so many years of success, he wants a new challenge: keep winning with perfect balances.
He would spend foolish money only of players that fuel the fire of his fantasy and enthusiasm, such as R10.
I think this is one of the most close to reality backstages of our management in recent years.

I am still confused here. Is it more from Berlusconi to make Milan to a club with balanced finances or is it more from Galliani's initiave to start a new Milan while the boss is not giving money just like he did in the 90's?
Giovanni
01-07-2008, 17:21
Berlusconi's sons and daughter told him that Fininvest (Berlusconi's holding) can't afford to pay over an x number of millions per year.
Mind that Silvio puts a lot of money in Milan still nowadays.
If we want to talk about market seriously, we should count that Milan's wages are very high, and some major investments have been made in recent years (Pato).
The problem with such strict deadline is that you can't miss a single investment, and here you explain why Galliani prefers to sign proven players instead of unproven ones.
Many criticise Galliani, but the board did a great job recovering 10 M (tag price) + 2.5 M (wage paid by spaniards) for Oliveira.
Oliveira costed us 17 M, but after this summer that wrong investment has been sorted out, cause after 2 years the fiscal value of Oliveira has fallen to 12 M (the player value, just like general goods, decrease with time).
Basically, we've repaired to a potential minusvalence with Oliveira's signing. Now the investment made is equal to the moneys we've got back.
The challenge is to renew the team within a couple of season and keep it competitive with less money.

Look like Milan have new idea for striker position according to SportItalia
Nicklas Bendtnerr would be an alternatve if Adebayor/Drogba case fail
Nicklas Bendtner
20 Year old
1.93 Height
John Sivebæk said to the media that he can see great potential in Bendtner. "His speed and technique reminds me that of Thierry Henry but there is also a little bit of Zlatan Ibrahimović in his challenging and unpredictable style.
what do you think ??
Dont see Milan spending more than 20million on Striker guys. Its just a bunch of pipe dreams if anyone thinks that Milan will spend more than that.
Reason Pato and Kaka,i think Milan would rather find a superstar on the rise than buying one right now. That's maybe why Adebayor made sense, but just way too much money for him.
And yes Milan did gamble with Oliviera and Ronaldo last couple of years, but remember they were not the 40-45millions that these clubs are asking for now.
Look out for players that were rumoured with Milan a few months ago and have not been mentioned lately.
Please leave some money for a Goalkeeper.

I think we will end up with one major purchase, and then our mercato ends.
I admit that Berlu's approach as indicated by Gio is not what a fan wants to hear, but I see, understand, and repect his decision.
Many of u here won't, and that's fine as well...
The bigger picture is that as long as the Serie A isn't attractive to a global audience, it won't earn for clubs what the EPL can, and combine that with the lack of ownership of stadia, as has been mentioned before, and it will be a while before an Italian club breaks any transfer record, outside of the one relating to their own history...and even that would be difficult.
While Milan may (and its far from certain that we will) suffer from this $ pinching approach in terms of silverware, I am quite relieved that we are seeking to ensure the financial security of the club as a priority.
Quite a few persons here don't believe that a club of Milan's stature could do a "Leeds" and because of financial and other areas of mismanagement, end up in Serie B or worse.....but while the "sky isn't falling", I see no reason why we shouldn't balance our books as an urgent priority....and point two things out:
1) Financial and poor player management (players gambling, and nothing done about by the club to curb/prevent it) saw us in Serie B not so long ago....
2) Not one of the Leeds fans who saw them beat us in the UCL, would have believed that a few years later, they would be in the lower levels of British football...
Having the club around so I can take my granchild to a Milan match is more important than us splurging millions on transfers every season, and if Chelski and Inter aren't proof enuf that mindlessly splashing cash around won't guarantee the biggest trophy of them all..then I don't kno what is..
That Berlu pumps $ into the club is known by all...yet when he declares that he will spend $x and no more on transfers, he becomes a miser, and doesn't want the club to win anything...
Few of us here know and appreciate difficulties of owning and operating a club, but from what I understand, I like this step by Berlu.
Being fiscally prudent never hurt a soul...and if we need to get 4th place or higher next term so we can afford higher priced players, then that's what we have to do.
Can't speak for everyone, but if I am alive then, I will be supporting the club just the same.
I will agree that Galliani speaks a bit too much at times, when a simple "no comment" would suffice, though as long as his "dated" negotiating tactics work, I won't knock him for it too much.
Everytime I see him celebrating mindlessly when we score, I think how happy I am to have a VP like that...and I forget his 180% comments...for a while.
I think, Gio's presence as one of quality posters is also missed here :)
welcome back GIO,.. we now need u (and others) to calm this thread with your post :)

Gio is a fantastic poster that I have known ever since my BBC posting days (2003 ish).
What he said from the Il Giornale source is fairly well known. I was talking about it the other day with one of my Italian friends. For those of you who can read and understand Italian, that news was indeed circulated, and even mrki talked about it a while back (though maybe quoting another source).
Financial prudence is all fine and dandy, but many clubs in Italy are spending. Surely we have to spend a little bit this summer. My fear is that we won't get anyone, unless it is from "parameter zero". In 2006, Galliani could hide behind Calciopoli's uncertainty. In 2007, we were coming off a high of the CL and we got Pato. Galliani kept repeating we are European Champions. In 2008??
We shall see.

Well, to me, 17 years ago the EPL, actually back then it was Division 1(no EPL back then), were struggling greatly, due to fan violence and all Eng teams were banned from Europe Competitions and all great players went to Series A(the 7 great clubs) or Real and Barcelona. Then the formation of EPL began and did not really pick up steam till 13 yrs ago, but with just only two teams -Arsenal and ManU that got world wide appeal, Chelsea was a mid table team till Roman and Pool was struggling.
Then IMO, the moment ManU and Beckham won the triple, thats when EPL got the World Wide audience in 10 yrs ago. ANd they never looked back since.
What I am saying is that, the League as a whole should really start promoting Series A as a great league to the world wide auidence or slowly they will drop from being the top 3 leagues(used to be number 1), to top 4, then top 5..... Which is something that is very very sad.
Back to transfer, to be honest, I think at the end, Galli will manage to sign one more player who is a superstar and all of us will be thrill b/c we manage to sign one superstar, but do you guys think that is enough for our current team to win it all?

Your post make me so proud. You are what I call a die heart fan. You breath and live AC Milan.
Everybody talks about who we are going to purchase in the summer but I like Warro will never get distracted from the point that the clubs security must be of the upmost importantance. If the club dies then we will no longer be involved in such forums as these.
Everyone wants to sign the likes of R10 and so on but it must not come at the expense of the club. Milan and the other top italian team need to get together and figure out a plan to bring Italian football back to the top.
Again great post Warro

Inter were so much better than Milan in last 2 seasons, it's not even funny.
Should admit it, but...
Inter is crap and always will be crap.
Absolutely agree.
And without the CL distracting Milan, that'll be more possible.
We do still have UEFA Cup to win.
Any further intolerance, insults, etc, will result in a ban.
I am a bit tired of reading pages and pages of insults, implied, or direct.
There will be no further warnings.
Long live mods!
I wonder why he feels the need to keep saying these statements, it just makes him sound ignorant to everything and a bit of a fool.
To keep us optimistic, maybe? It's okay. We need to be optimistic at hard times like this.
Okay, and for Summer Mercato:
We may be forced to look for another striker now. Ronaldo's contract was not renewed, and likely I do not think there will be another offer.
Good. He was never been really useful.
'bout Antonini:
No one said that you were wrong....but the thing is we need a great/WC STARTING left back.....what's the use fixing your generator all the time when your house has no permanent power supply.....We need a good starting Left Back with pace and skill otherwise we haven't improved....that's what everybody is trying to tell you....our team hasn't improved!!
As I said, we DO need a backup, but backup is for backing up world-class first team squads, which we didn't have!
Too young and unproven. Good talents, though. Bu I saw him more similar to Pato. Maybe we can get him but we MUST ALSO get a world-class striker now.
Adebayor isn't worth 45 million. If Barcelona gets him, they'll off load Eto'o for far less than that... perhaps 30-35 million.
Actually I didn't like both, but if they could come with cheap price then no problem. In my opinions we could buy 3 Adebayors with 45M, he's so overrated. And I think we should not go for Eto'o with more than 25M.
Nicklas Bendtnerr would be an alternatve if Adebayor/Drogba case fail
And I heard he's a Milan fan since child, too. But no. We need more than him. Besides, it would hard to be imagined that Arsenal will be willing to sell him if Adebayor were to leave. Anyway, the reason why I don't like both is because they're aerial strikers which wouldn't suit with our tactics.
Oh yeah, and I think why the management is losing money more and more is because they invested so much money on players that didn't repay those, such as Ronaldo, Oliveira, and Oddo. So if we want to get back on track, then we couldn't stop buying players. Instead of it, we should spend more money, BUT for the right men!
And I'm getting tired because we are talking about same players every post. Yes I understand that we are waiting for big signings, but I think we've discussed some of the repeated names here till death. Could we start with some new names?

Milan is a rich, powerful club, that is owned by a billionaire. He has spent, and continues to spend, vast sums of money on his toy/pet/addiction/tool-for-rapid-rise-in-political-power...yet, for a few years, he hasnt spent huge sums in transfers...yet, the toy still managed to entertain him, and win an odd bit of silverware here and there....so he decides to take a different approach to procurement.
Whats wrong with that?
Inter and Juve in Italy, are the only clubs that can compete with Milan financially, all things (ie Berlu´s purse strings being freed up) being equal:
Moratti, we know, could have cleard up Jamaica´s national debt with all the spending he did on players for his club, who over a God-he-alone-knows how long a period, has a 2 paper, and one earned scudetto to show for it..oh, and a UEFA Cup maybe?
Juve....well...less said about them the better, except to say this: Here is another club that isnt splashing the cash, but still manages to get res...ahh forget it...calciopoli has reduced their involvement in any Serie A arguments invalid, except maybe for the 3rd place finish they managed this season...with a squad of no-name, youth products, and a smattering of stars. 3rd place...and with a new coach.
Roma have an excellent coach, and a great team, built on a pittance...their star player: A youth product.
My point: Splashing the cash doesnt guarantee you titles, but a careful combination of big purchases, with a good coach, a stable atmosphere, and you can still win silverware...and usually with the same, or greater frequency as those spending twice as much.
if Berlu has lost his love or first love for Milan or our success he should sell the club to someone who does...it's THAT simple. Otherwise in the grand scheme of things .....we are just another toy some rich guy got tired of.......and the aftermth of THAT is far worse
So Berlu, because he isnt going "Abramovitch" in the market, or doing a "Moratti spend" has lost his love, or first love for Milan? Ok, he hasnt done so for a couple seasons, with mixed results (from a pragmatic perspective)...we have brought in more players (again, not the PES/FIFA 2008 grade of fantasy players) than I have ever seen us do in one season, and from this we are "another toy some rich guy got tired of"...??
Our wage bill, (surely partially funded by Finivest) is huuuuge...yes another mistake from a gazillionaire who only flies in to watch us when we are in a final...and surely a sign of a man who could care less about a toy.:sun:
I dont know about you, but what life has taught me, is that men are only boys that are...you know, bigger...the "boy" never truly leaves the man.
Men/Boys who no longer have an interest in their toys, simply discard them...whether by selling, ignoring, or giving it away....if it is a favourite toy, that continues to provide fun when you play with it, then you will continue to play with it. I dont see Berlu leaving Milan on a shelf in his play room to gather dust. Not when it continues to be a useful tool for him as well. And you know how men are with their tools....(or maybe you dont...but thats not my fault :w186: )
Sell the club to whom? This is a bit childish dru, and not your usual high standard...and believe me, (or not) I do understand the frustrations of fellow fans at our inactivity/chatter-with-litte-action this mercato...but get real:
Who would buy? Who would you want to buy our one and only"precious"? Milan is not a item to be sold to the highest bidder...or do you think it is?
Milan is the toy/tool of Silvio Berlusconi. A man who has proven time and time again, that he has a midas touch. Why would I risk my "precious" to someone only interested in the "franchise"?
I dont want Milan to be another Liverpool or Man U...and this seems to be the current model of club aquisition. I dont want more than the 20M pound debt that we have....that pales in comparison to the hundreds of millions of pounds owed by Chelski and Man U...and Liverpool...and Inter (who are saved by a last minute bail out by Moratti every season)
Do you know how much debt sent Leeds down...and they owned their own stadium...yeah...owned.
So, fiscal responsibility, combined with astute purchases, reserved, carefull spending where necessary...driving hard negotiations, selling when and where necessary, for maximum profit, ensuring high morale and atmosphere conducive to performance, usually are the criteria for running a successfull business.
I see where Berlu is doing all of this. A modern mega club like Milan must run like a business, in order for it to continue to thrive. Sometimes spending more than X is not possible, based on the model you are working with.
Yet Milan also has a soul, and one that Berlu helped to resurrect. He isnt God, and he aint perfect, but he is the next best thing for Milan, IMO.
The only person I would replace him with, would be me, and only if I had Abramovitch money.:delol:

guys gimmie a break :wth: Most of us love milan down to our last drop of blood but in case you haven't noticed....we're not exactly eating at the Salvation Army here.....if Berlu has lost his love or first love for Milan or our success he should sell the club to someone who does...it's THAT simple. Otherwise in the grand scheme of things .....we are just another toy some rich guy got tired of.......and the aftermth of THAT is far worse
great post dru. my issue with signings are 3 fold....1) that milan have made a number of poor signings decisions past 5 years. players like brocchi, emerson, oliviera, favalli etc never should have been brought in. and while everyone makes mistakes, our managements wont just cut losses and make improvements.. they dont always have to cost alot. i like the abate move. if hes our backup 3rd choice RB thats good. should be play well he'll see more time but no real pressure is on him. he is a promising talent and hopefull a future starter. now who cant we have plaers like that in midfield? If i have to see brocchi play more, i will scream he's an embarassment to a milan jersey
2) galliani and berlu's rhetoric is insulting to all paying milan fans. Like it or not, milan is a global brand. it is not some small local club like chievo verona. Milans name reaches up with real madrid, manUtd etc etc. Consiquentl, supporting milan as opposed to a small local club is more expensive...People like myself who have to go loooong distances to get to san siro but still do. people who spent equivilent of $100 to buy a milan jersey online. To say they wont spend but they expect fans to continually spend money and support is not realistic
3) We are soooo close. We are only a few key signing away from dominating team. We are not a team who needs 9 new starters. The fact the last few peices aent brought in, is just frustrating.

Well before I head out to a club (yes I do go clubbing on tuesday every now and then lol)... I'll say this. We should be able to get Eto'o... he's 27... at his prime... and knows how to score in big tournaments. He's the one that equalised for Barcelona in the CL... which Barcelona eventually won.
It's the best solution if we let Barcelona get Adebayor... then Eto'o will be deemed surplus, and be sold. Also Barcelona may look for the money in order to pay to finance the Adebayor transfer.
The financial system of Milan is in relatively good shape compared to others. We don't want to take out loans to buy players like what Leeds did... now Leeds sit in the third division.
Berlusconi is a good guy, and I trust him... remember he's the one that saved Milan from the Serie B in the 1980s, and we should be happy we have someone like him. But Milan has a bottom line. We can't get into insolvency. Napoli suffered that fate earlier and ended up in the Serie C2 at one point..
And with present acquistions I view the management as fixing previously wrongs.
As you said I'm basically beating a dead horse here...
The only problem I have is that if you KNOW you don't have money to buy big players then DON'T SAY THAT YOU WILL. If we're that strapped for cash then also lose the fringe players that cost 3+ million a year in wages and replace them with maybe players from our youth squad who call for lower wages. You'll also need to get our coach to trust those young players some more if we're gonna try to save money by producing talent instead of buying it.
Bottom line: Stop lying to the fans promising big signings when you know we're not capable of such.

We have the money, the reason why now looks like we're lack of money is because we're not spending it for the right people. 7.5M for Ronaldo, a little bit less for Oddo, about 17M for Oliveira, we rated them too much. Now stop wasting the money and buy the right target. 21.5M for Schweinsteiger is not too expensive as I said, rather than 45M which you could actually use to buy 2 or 3 Adebayors. We have the money to sign big players, but WHAT KIND OF big players?
I can understand the need to balance books and maintain proper finances, but no one is asking for big name signings ala Inter or Chelsea. No one is asking for ridiculously expensive players. It is already a given that we will always be out of the race for any proven top player since we cant cough up the cash. The last proven, world class player signing we made was Rui Costa and we payed a record for him, but that was in the days when Milan were expected to do that. Now? Players like CR7, Quaresma will end up being sold to clubs that can afford their huge transfer fees, clubs like Real, Chelsea, Man Utd, Barca, Inter----once upon a time we would be up there challenging or at least ABLE to challenge if we really wanted to. Sadly, that is all in the past.
What we're asking for are quality signings---players like Vargas, Boruc, Zapata who wouldnt necessarily cost an arm and a leg, but still management come out with the same old crap and teams like Fiorentina and Napoli snap up these players. Where does that leave us?
My point is if they want us to challenge amongst the top teams in Europe and keep winning trophies, then there is no choice, whatever the financial situation in Italian football----they would have to keep investing and producing financial losses. If they really want to balance the books, then we will start sliding down to the second tier, to the level of Roma, Fiorentina, Udinese, Sampdoria---mid table clubs that challenge for league positions, not for the scudetto....Hmmm, from all the noise we've been hearing about 4th place finish over the last couple of years, we may already be in that position.
He's the one that equalised for Barcelona in the CL... which Barcelona eventually won.
you keep repeating this like it's some kind of important fact? If I'm not mistaken, Beletti was the one who won that game for Barcelona, so let's get him also :zany:

Eto'o was the man of the match if I remember... he was one of Barcelona's best players... and his runs still terrorise the defense of other teams. If we can get him at an off-loaded cost, all the better.

I totally disagree with this. The last proven player we've sign was Alexandre Pato. Or even more recently, Gianluca Zambrotta and Mathieu Flamini. And then Kaka was signed and overshadowed Rui Costa. Why Quaresma? Better players than that. Like Schweinsteiger...
We need to balance the books or face doom. That simple. I think Manchester United could be headed towards a path of financial insolvency.

This isn't true either. You can balance the books, yet compete well... you just have to spend your money wisely... and not unwisely like Chelsea. And I think Fiorentina was a one season wonder...

I'm not hoping that Milan will splash some 150M for CR7 nor I want to see us spending money on transfers with an amount, for example as Warro said, that could pay Jamaica's national debt, or doing foolish thing such as brought Quaresma for 35-40M just like our foolish neighbor do (he's good player but overrated with price like that, IMO). All I want is signings that worth its value. Buy Schweinsteiger for 21.5M, or maybe Dinho for 20-25M, then Zapata (or Santacroce as my personal preference), Boruc (or Frey), maybe less than 20M Adebayor or 20M Eto'o, etc. Pato was good signing with his 22.5M value.
That is the key. Use money wisely. Don't hesitate to spend much money, BUT ONLY IF THE PLAYER IS REALLY, REALLY GOOD. Unlike that Oliveira fiasco. Why we seems lack of money? Because we've already spent 10.5M for Borriello, which is too much IMO. I didn't mind for Borriello to come here, but absolutely not with THAT price (plus Di Gennaro also...)

Bascially, I believe we are piss at MGT for lying instead of not signing players. And enought with so call hardball tactics or smokescreen, b/c I think those are just excuses we say to comfort ourselves. Name one other clubs that operate their transfer market strategy like that.
I am all for MIlan wanting to balance its books but the truth of the matter is that, I really cannot see why Milan is in debt at all for over the past few years. There was not alot of huge purchases beside Gilardino(but that was after a CL runners up finish, so the cash was there), Bonera, Gourcuff, Kalac, Emerson, R9, Oddo, RO, Pato were eight others that were bought in prior to this year. On top of that, there was the sale of Sheva and winning the CL in 07. Thus, Milan should not be in the red, but they are due to wages, thats the issue the MGT should really address.
Now, I am not asking for WC signings, what I am asking are three things:
1. Cut lose dead weight, just release and cut off those huge contracts like Simic, Emerson, Brocchi and Dida, as they are not producing.
2. USE YOUTH, whether sign them or promote them, use them or the wage bill will just continue to climb.
3. STOP wasting money on HAS BEEN, stop looking for bargains, I would rather see Milan invest the money on HAS BEEN into their YOUTH SYSTEM.
Warro posted that teams like Juve and Roma are doing well b/c of their YOUTH PRODUCT, may I also add that Arsenal, ManU, even Real and Chelsea are also relying on their youth product to get success. Terry was a youth product of Chelsea while Lampard, Cech and J.Cole made their name at Chelsea.
Thats something that Milan did well 7 yrs ago, with the first wave of Gattuso, Ambro, Coco, Abbiati, Serginho and RJ, then they bought more younger players to groom in Sheva(even though he was great already), Pirlo, then Kaka, Gila, Bonera, Gourcuff and now Pato.
What I am trying to say is that with the exception of Kaka and Gila, Carlo never plays Bonera(unless half the defenders are injured), and Pato only got the chance mainly due to NO strikers at the moment), and Never have faith in Gourcuff. Actually even Kaka started off the bench for most part of the first season. Carlo needs to play younger players or else there will not be another wave of young guns, like the Maldini, Baresi, Tassotti, Carlo, Donnadoni, Albertini, Gattuso, Ambro and others. And one of the ways to do that is to cut loose on players like Emerson, Simic, Brocchi, Favalli, Dida, Kalac, and even Mr. I cannot sit on the bench-Seedorf.

I can quite a few clubs that operate like that. Arsenal, Chelsea, Barcelona, Juventus... Secco is far worse with his words... you just have to hear him. Galliani is not the only one that does this. Look at how Arsenal and Barcelona are doing about Adebayor.
Arsenal, ManU and Chelsea survive off foreign signings. Our youth system is bigger than their systems. And no we should not cut Seedorf. We should cut Emerson, Simic (he wants to leave), Brocchi and Favalli (perhaps retirement would be suitable for him). But... we are not looking for bargains. We did bring back three of our youth system players... so aren't they doing what you want them to do?

Um Milan were relegated because of a scandal, then got promoted, then got relegated again. In other words, they were not going down a good path. When Berlusconi took over they may have been in the Serie A, but they were having severe problems. If Berlusconi did not step in... Milan would not have had any of the glory it has had for the next 20 years (1988-2008).
Milan was not in the Serie A 1980-81... they were sent down in 1979-1980... they then gained promotion from the Serie B again in 1982-83... Berlusconi started his ownership just 3 years after (1986), but Milan not at any point was close to getting towards the top. This 85-86 Serie A saw us in 7th place... only 1987-88 did we finally win the Scudetto after those bad years.

The thing with Borreillo is that, if lets say Milan does not sign him and other teams did. THen he have another 19 goals or more season in Series A, Milan will look stupid for letting him go for 10M.
I think it was a tough decision on the Borreillo b/c the MGT is afraid he will do well and we look bad.

NOt going to comment about Galli's words anymore b/c it is really a case of I say Tomato, you say ToMAto.
'
As for Arsenal, ManU and Chelsea survivie off foreign signings? Maybe they do not have as much locate base as you would like, but alot of their signings if not all are young players, I mean very young players. Chelsea did sign guys like Sheva and Ballack at 30s, but they also signed Alex at 23, Kalou and MIkel....and Terry(Own system), Lampard, J.Cole and Cech were bought when they were 25 or younger.
ALso, I never questions or even mention the size of our youth system nor quality rather I SAID, I WOULD RATHER SEE THEM INVEST the money on has been/bargain buy IN YOUTH development instead.
ALSO, I never state that I am not happy bc Milan not bringing in youth, I question the fact that they rarely USE YOUTH and part of the reason is b/c players like Emerson, Brocchi, Simic, Favalli are here. Even to some extent Oddo and Marek too. B/C I believe that Sammarco, Mazarotti and even Gourcuff when given chance can play at the same if not a higher level than Brocchi, Simic, Emerson and Favalli. But the MGT or Carlo would rather use the latter. I also stated the example of guys like Gattuso, Ambro, Abbiati, Coco, RJ back when they first came to Milan and won the Title, nobody heard about them but they were playing for a TOP CLASS team in MILAN and performing.
The Seedorf part is the only part I wrote down, b/c I really dislike players who does not play for the team, don't want to get into that again.
PLS READ the whole and complete post and then wait awhile in order to digest the words b4 making comments. I am not trying to be rude here, but u r just so jumpy whenever someone else make a comment about the team and the players.

Yeah Tony, but let's look at Chelski:
With Deco's purchase, they have an abundance of AMs...Lampard, Ballack, Joe Cole, SWPhilips....Mikel(?)+Deco....and R10? Unless he plays as a second striker :dontkn:
While they dont have to "sell" in order to raise funds to buy, I think some of their players would rather leave, than face a long period on the bench.
In essence, I don't see R10 going there until someone leaves.

Today's news are that Chelsea finally accepted to do business with Moratti and how Lampard is almost certainly going to play for Inter.
Dunno if it's true, but even if it is, Deco is Lamp's direct replacement.
Personally, i can see Dinho only in Milan, not in City or Chelsea but it's a fact that Scolari knows Dinho very well (he was the first one who gave Dinho a chance to regularly play as a starter for Brazil. They won the WC in 2002 with Dinho as a young star of the team and Scolari as the manager of Brazil).
If it's up to Scolari i'm sure he'll choose Ronaldinho in front of Ballack, Joe Cole or Phillips. And i also believe that Abramovich would like the idea of having Ronaldinho in his team.
I expect Scolari to bring few more Brazilians+ Portuguese and to change the boring football practiced by both Mourinho and Grant with some south American or Portuguese magic.
He already brought Bosingwa and Deco, i'm sure he'll try to bring few more players from Brazil and Portugal. Players who already played for him in the national teams of BRA and POR, players who know him and respect him.

Is it true Torino have signed Abate? If so does anyone know if it's a permenant deal or a loan deal?
It's a loan deal. Galliani confirmed it yesterday.
"Con Abate dobbiamo pensare a rinnovare il contratto ma non vogliamo perderlo. Per questo lo abbiamo dato in prestito al Torino con un diritto di riscatto molto alto".
- Adriano Galliani.
This is from Calciomercato.
Supposedly, Ronaldinho said this in an interview for the Sun (the good news for the Milan fans are that The Sun is a tabloid and they usually invent their stories...or that's what i heard):
"E' meraviglioso che Felipe si sia interessato a me perche` e` un grande manager - ha detto Ronaldinho in un'intervista riportata dal tabloid The Sun - Ho un grande rispetto per lui perche` lo conosco fin da quando ero bambino e lui era il manager del Gremio. Se dovesse prendere corpo questa opportunita` per lavorare con lui sarebbe davvero fantastico. Abbiamo vinto insieme una Coppa del Mondo e questo io non lo dimentichero` mai".
Translation:
It's great that Felipe (Scolari) is interested in me because he's a great manager. I have great respect for him because i know him since i was a kid and he was Gremio's manager.
It would be fantastic if there is an opportunity to work with him again. We won a world cup together and that's something i could never forget.
I have a feeling it's all BS and Ronaldinho never said this. The English can confirm if The Sun have a habbit to invent stories.
It's a loan deal. Galliani confirmed it yesterday.
"Con Abate dobbiamo pensare a rinnovare il contratto ma non vogliamo perderlo. Per questo lo abbiamo dato in prestito al Torino con un diritto di riscatto molto alto".
- Adriano Galliani.
I may be wrong but this means that Abate is loaned to Torino and Torino has the right to buy him at the end of the season for a fixed price that is very high for a team like Torino.

Man above me: that's the first thing I read :D
@ Warro:
Please stop trying to pour water on my concerns by calling them childish. I'm not offended but it's a poor argument strategy. Change is often the only thing that remains constant and all of us need to understand and accept this. I will NEVER question Berlu's record and what he has done for us because he is one of the major proponents in us being the most successful club internationally. However time and people and circumstances change. If he has gotten tired or less concerned with Milan I don't hold it against him......you can NEVER quote me Warro as insulting either Berlu or Galliani. But I AM sorely disappointed at their APPROACH to the transfer market.
The fact remains that at least in the eyes of an ordinary and quite probably ignorant man on the street there seems to be a noticeable reluctance to go after the best players the market has to offer. Now that in itself would be fine because the teams that win are not necessarily 11 superstars or even 11 stars but 11 role-players. The problem is that we have few players to play the role of "wide/wing play" and "speedsters". Compounding the problem are the promises of not only role players but star players to fit that role. Another vacant role is the "targetman"......why should they dangle promises of one then claim that they can't afford them? In essence we get disappointed TWICE when if they simply said nothing we could have been only disappointed once- i.e. disappointment at not getting a superstar to play that role.
Also with all due respect I must say that your fears about our financial condition are completely unfounded. Milan was one of the few teams in Italy that made a profit last year. In addition we have been making big sales in Olivera and Gilardino. Even if we were going to get a tad into the red when you add up the wages and transfer fees.....how have Real, Barca, ManU (whose owner isn't only poorer than Berlu but is serious debt as well) etc do it? Are we not at least on their level? Milan had a record number of season tickets sold last year...even if we don't win silverware I would hope that our management is responsible enough to at least give these fans a show....how do you put on a show??? Surely not with the likes of Antonini, Brocchi, Borriello, Emerson etc....you put on a show with the likes of Kaka, Pato Ronaldo (if he comes back :) )and Seedorf....in times gone by Berlu has been giving the stakeholders (the fans who buy everything and anything with AC MILAN written on it) REASON to be proud and to keep spending money that would eventually go back to HIM. In times gone by ANY big player could have been our target...Zambrotta, Ronaldo, rivaldo, Batigol, Baggio, Sheva, Nesta, Stam, Totti etc etc....and Berlu $plashed and everybody was happy. I remember links or at least rumors to all of these guys. The era for those stars is over...NOW the biggest stars of the game are Torres D.Alves, Terry, Essien, Messi, CR7, Eto'o, Robinho....the fact that we aren't linked to any of these save for Eto'o and R10- both of whom we have been crying overtheir price tags. To me the decline is clear and to you it should at least be plausible.

Dru I totally agree and to add to that our not securing a World Class player to replace Sheva is a huge reason why we finshed out of 5th and out of some much needed revenue for qualifying for the CL.
Sorry to say but in this world you must SPEND money to MAKE money.
Sow sparingly and you will reap sparingly. This is what management has done in the past couple of years and results have shown this.
(Save Pato who they SPENT BIG money on and we REAPED what management SOWED as he almost single handedly saved our season)
With Pippo, Pato, Borriello and the striker/CF we sign, with injuries and all, Ronaldo coming in at the midway point of the season may not be so bad. Only if he accepts smaller wages to prove himself though.
Do it right R99...lose the weight, focus 100% on the game, and the team!

Yes I think that's right Tony.
tgcom says we are interested in Luis Fabiano and plan b is gomez.
Luis Fabiano is actually a good choice I have not gave much mind to... he has the experience we need... he's 27... 6' feet (1.83M) tall too... yet I hear he's a bit of a hot head... but so is Eto'o... any other sources on this one?
He's been with Sevilla since 2005... anybody have any idea when his contract runs out? If it's four years, he may only have a year left on it, lowering any fees paid to the club...
As far as Ronaldo... I'm not confident in him. He has to cut his attitude out, and cut his diet with it... if he wants a part in Milan, it has to be about Milan and not all about him.
And lastly, I predict great things of Pato this upcoming season... that kid scored 9 goals in half of a season, and that's very impressive. If anything, he'll be the one putting on the show...

The Blaugrana sent sporting vice-president Marc Ingla to speak to the Gunners', but after talks failed to produce a deal he has returned to the Ciutat Contal.
Having turned down a bid of €30m, Arsenal maybe waiting for another offer to be lodged for Adebayor while Hleb is just waiting for the green light to leave.
But Barça want to complete all business by next Sunday (July 6) because that is the day that a referendum is held on whether the club's fans have confidence in the board.
If the vote of no confidence against president Joan Laporta is supported by Barcelona's members then he will be forced to stand down and elections will be called for September, at the earliest.
An interim board will be put into place and under the club's statutes will be unable to carry out any transfer activity, meaning that both Ronaldinho and Samuel Eto'o will stay.
Adebayor has been sending out mixed messages, even if Arsenal have not and their latest rejection of Barça's offer could end all interest in his services.
The Hleb saga may run until the end of the week, but coach Pep Guardiola has told the board that his arrival is not as urgent as a new striker.

my gut is this will carry ALL summer.... adebayor wants to leave, eto'o wants out, dinho wants out. All there clubs are overinflating prices. It'll take till mid august for the prices to drop.
I just worry that by the time we sign 1 of the 3 (most likely ronaldinho) season will have started, and by the time they mesh with the rest of our squad, we've played anywhere from 5 to 10 games. Double this with pato missing opening games cause of the olympics. Then kaka coming off surgery, I'm sure everyone agrees I'd rather he misses first game or two, and brought back slow, than we rush him and risk further injury. All of a sudden, we are looking very thin.
One of the biggest things that have hurt us in past few years have been slow starts. When after a few fixtures you are already 8-12 points back, it becomes very difficult to come back.

Adebayor can't make up his mind. He's like me going out and figuring out where to go to lunch. This guy is driving me crazy! Can he make up his mind already?! If he goes to Barcelona, great... then Barca will off-load Eto'o... but it's almost immature of himself of what he is doing. If anything, its disrespectful to the fans of the each respective club... I've talked with a Gunner fan and he admits he's quite frustrated over this whole thing.
Kaka said he would be fine in about two weeks... I saw an article regarding him. I think we should be fine for the start of the season. I just hope we sign a real striker, and not Ronaldinho.
I mean Luis Fabiano does sound like a good idea right about now... I heard Roma was interested in him too...

I fear Luis Fabiano will be another Oliveira.
We should buy Ronaldinho and a CD, and then we can close our market, and I will be content (not happy).

-The Adebayor drama is largely inflated by the british tabloids though.... Its a well known fact how they are. They make italy/spain/france look tame lol. Barca and milan r doing right thing withdrawing and letting him complain, itll force arsenal to sell him at lower price. Wenger would be crazy to keep him unhappy, he'd be a cancer.
-i havent been too impressed by luis fabiano. He's 28 and just hit good form. Also sevilla have kanoute, poulsen, capel, renato, adriano who all feed him the ball. I find it interesting Ramos isnt too big on signing Fabiano, even though he wishes to raid rest of his former club. I think he might be like oliviera (definately different style players), inflated price off a good la liga campaign. I'd be more for signing someone proven (ade or BERBATOV!) or going for a highly promising younger striker (such as pato was)
-Finally everyone watch copa libradores final! Fluminese v. Deportiva Universitaria Quitos. Fluminese have a couple highly touted players we have been linked to. Thiago Silva (a CB) and Thiago Neves (an AM, likened to Pavel Nedved). deportiva Universitaria won first leg 4-2. I'm interested to see them being as clubs outside argentina/brazil RARELY get far in copa.

Dinho + promising CF + promising CD. I want santacroce or Zapata in defense! CF I dunno, if we buy dinho, i understand adebayor or berbatov prob wont come, i'd be content with a young potential signing. Remember we havent used our non-EU spot if we sign dinho

True, but we could still have 3 decent strikers in Borriello, Inzaghi, and Pato. Paloschi could be given more playing time then.
I agree with the defensive department. I would love Mexes, but Zapata and Santacroce would be awesome.

i think if we sign a WC AM like dinho, seedorf will see time soley in midfield.
Our midfield rotation will be pirlo, gattuso, ambro, seedorf, flamini. 5 bonafied starters for 3 spots.
That being said mystik, I would really welcome joao moutinho! He has similar characteristics to pirlo, he reminds me more of deco or rui costa though. Unfortunately we most liekly wont see him this mercato.

i'm not sold on borriello. Pippo doesnt have the legs to play full games, or consistant games. He is not a workhorse striker anymore. Pato needs to be brought along slowly. I dunno i could see pippo getting hurt. They we only have pato and borriello. If marco is not on form, its ALOT of pressure on young pato

Our management won't plump for Cigarini.
That means we will probably switch when Pirlo is not playing to a more conventional 4-4-2. If we get Dinho, then maybe we could play a 4-3-2-1, with Dinho and Kaka playing behind Pato, and a midfield of Flamini, Ambro/Gattuso, and Seedorf.

Indeed about Adebayor...
I have seen the Copa Libertadores... Fluminense's Thiago Neves most impresses me. Yeah while Liga Deportivo won the first match, Flum did score two crucial away goals... it's just that Flum's defense in that game was a bit shocking.
I think as far as Luis Fabiano... he's more proven than Oliveira, because Sevilla is a higher ranking team... and he did have a great time at Sao Paolo scoring over 100 goals in like 130 appearances...

he's 6-3. I guess he is kind of skinny. but he plays physical from what i saw. Iunno, i imagine russian league has alot of dirtier defenders than serie A (sorry to play on russian stereotype) From what i saw he was tall, and knew how to use his body. Just throwing names out there...

Don't forget that Oliveira also had a nice career before he joined Milan.
He won the league with Valencia in 2004 and he was one of their best players. He was Betis' best player (22 goals in the league) in the following season when Betis made it to top 4 and played ChL.
It was the awful injury that stopped Oliveira's progress. If Milan bought him before the injury then i think everything would have been different.
This year he's shown again that his time in Milan was only a bad episode after the injury.

I have mixed feelings about this guy. But I do agree that we need a player upfront like him. We have too many nice guys up front. We need a nasty guy who has the look of crazy in his eye, and the stature to back it up. Baptista would be nice.:strong:
Pavlyuchenko - I think he may be the diamond in the ruff of this summer transfer campaign and may go to a team for relatively cheap (because of all the attention that Arshavin is getting) and then explode into a real good if not top goal scorer. His movement and touch in the Euro's were really nice.

I guess he wouldn't be that bad...comming to think of it he IS big, Tall and Strong and if Carlo can convert Kaka into a striker why not Baptista who plays far up front anyways? Please stop with Pavlyuchenko because:
- he has never scored more than 18 goals in a season
- he is 26yo (not old but take it with the previous line)
- he isn't the best Russian striker
Why would he be a success ? Seriously, if we're going to spend money for him, I would rather us not to spend it and to play with Borriello as a starter ... (:wow: what did I just say ?! lol)

Wenger is NUTTS. What's point holding a player who doesn't happy and want to leave ?
Actually even Kaka wanted him here too
It's the only thing I don't like with Kaka' and all his Brasilian team mates ... they all want other Brasilian players, probably some of their friends and they say that they could be an excellent option for the club whereas they're not really what we need or they're not really enough good to be called "reinforcement" (they would just strenghten the team).

He has a contract, so if Wenger wants, he can say to Adebayor who isn't paid that much for moment (umh I'd like to earn his wage lol): "you stay because you have a contract, if you're not happy with that, don't sign anymore long contracts and stay on the bench".
Actually, Wenger will never do that but it could be a solution to shut the mouth of all these players with long contracts who say that they want to leave ...

And nowadays, a club like Milan could only be sold to some kind of man who has billions ... and Milan would lose all by becoming a Chelsea-like/Real-like based in Italy.

I personally love when people start petitions, and protest and attempt to have there voices heard. IF berlusconi expects the fans to buy expensive tickets, and merchandise, which we all gladly do. He must also be prepared for backlash when the club doesnt perform at the levels it is expected to. It's a two way street, and i don't see a real problem. It's peaceful, gets the voices heard, and can effect change.
The minute violence gets involved i dont condone it 1 bit. But to say fans should sit by quietly when they r discontent, is ridiculous. Would you stand by quietly if government did things (or didnt do things) you had issues with?

fred's coming off a major injury. Never really reclaims his spot since. Although he too can join my sambaing lineup!
I got an idea... how about the striker Fred from Lyon? He's had a pretty good start with Brazil... I think 9 national matches and 5 goals... he's young too... 24 years old..
I don't like him but he has talent ... his problem is that he seems to be injury-prone. And of course, like some people don't want Drogba, they won't want Fred, just remember a certain Lyon-Roma match in CL and what happened when Fred saw he had no solution: he exploded Chivu's neck lol.
Anyway, he could become a great striker if he changes his mind.
I think Wenger seems intent on keeping Adebayor unless Milan pony up silly money and they think that's the right move for the reasons crap pointed out.

Well I'm not sure then... yes the last thing we need is any injury prone players.
There was some mention of Falcao from River Plate as well, and that Milan actually did try to put a bid on him a while ago...

Barcelona--there have been no concrete offers for Eto'o and Ronaldinho.
Gazzetta.
Eto'o was the man of the match if I remember... he was one of Barcelona's best players... and his runs still terrorise the defense of other teams. If we can get him at an off-loaded cost, all the better.
don't get me wrong, i'd be delighted to have eto'o in milan, i just think that pointing out that goal every few pages is not that important :)

Guys, about that petition we should reason in the most unbiased way.
Everybody can understand my political ideas, and they aren't exactly against Berlusconi.
But that petition has some valid points.
I think the truth is in the middle. Berlusconi made what Milan is today, denying that is blindness. But there must be a change. That petition has some valid points because Milan fans can't pay for the involvment of Silvio in politics.
I hope Berlusconi will remain our president, but he must understand that being Milan president requires constant investment.
The only problem with that petition is that 650 signs aren't exactly representative of 8 Millions of Italian Milan fans.

great post
.....as Jim_UK said...Baptista's first touch goes further than a John Terry Clearance
When did i say that?
I'm disappointed we got Abate back only to let him go again. I thought we could have really used him next season.
I read just now that Txiki Begiristain has said he is awaiting concrete offers for Ronaldinho ... yet yesterday Galliani said that we were waiting for Barcelona to tell us how much they wanted for Ronaldinho. Well if we wait for them and they wait for us, he's never going to arrive. There's a lack of communication somewhere!

I'm sure you did, back in the time when he played for Arsenal.
I remember that perfectly. I even stole that line and used it in another forum. :D
Edit: Actually, it may have been Steza who said that.

As far as Ronaldo... I'm not confident in him. He has to cut his attitude out, and cut his diet with it... if he wants a part in Milan, it has to be about Milan and not all about him.

Claudio Pasqualin has spoken to Radio Kiss Kiss and talked about Sheva and Abate's contracts (he's their agent).
"I believe in the possibility of Sheva returning to Italy, but it is important to wait a little longer. There is a chance that Abramovic will back down on his decision and will let Sheva go on a free loan. Sampdoria manager Mr Marota might want to take him to the Blucheriati after the successful swoop of Cassano, but ofcourse it is Milan who can pay his high wage. I think at the end Abramovic will open the doors for Sheva's departure."
"Abate to Torino? The club has found an agreement. Today the negotiations for the final details of the contract will be concluded and I think there should not be any problems"
Sheva + Ronaldinho wouldn't be bad at all..just as long as they don't forget the other positions of the field.

I think Sheva would have something to prove... it may be costly to let him go on free loan though for Chelsea... I'd would have no problem seeing Sheva back. Of course I'd like to see someone younger...
On the same note, Milan if they do get Sheva on loan will probably come to some sort of agreement to pay a larger portion of the wages.
I wish the Abate to Torino deal falls through... I was eager to see him play..

giovanni, i read all your recent post with big interest as they offer a information you can't get outside italian media.
i don't think berlusconi is willing to sell milan, nonetheless is this petition a good idea. personally i don't have such a problem with milan not being able to pay 40 mio. euros for one player. the importance is to have a balanced team with the right spirit and we should not forget that we have a gamebreaker player in kaka (the question is for how long).
i think the problem is that we have the wrong coach for a situation like this. carlo does not really trust young players except they are outstanding talents like kaka or pato. this is perfectly legitimate but for milan this is imho quite a problem. expirienced players at top level (which carlo would need to build a great team) are the most expensive ones. so as he does not get those he settles for mediocre "old" players with experience instead of giving young guns a chance.
in theory we could play an attack like this next season:
Gila/Borriello/Inzaghi
Foggia/Antonini - Kaka/Seedorf - Pato/Abate
instead abate and foggia has/had to leave again, to me both are great talent and would surely be enough to break most serie a defences. there are plenty more players available like cigarini, bassi and many more i don't even know about.
i think both parties (milan and carlo) should have been honest enough and ended this (extremely succesful) marriage. last season would have been an opportunity for both to split with dignity and pride. now we may see a change of coach during the season which is something carlo does not deserve. i don't see this milan team finish top 2 and also the uefa cup will be extremely difficult to win with our current team.
apart from that what really annoys me is our communication strategy. why does galliani always have to talk about star players when he already knows that we can't afford them. that is unfair against the fans who buy season tickets in aspiration of those big names (last year was a case of that).
juve for example i assume (from watching their mercato) have comparable funds to us and they seem to be able to reach most of their goals because they never talk about silly signings like adebayor. to me their squad looks quite well already, i think they can give inter a run for their money.

It's true. We owned 50% of his contract - Inter owned the other half. The 13th of June we bought Inter's share in him.
The same day we also signed the goalkeeper Marco Varaldi (Inter also owned half of him).
Some of you might remember him from the plusvalenze-investigations.

Hmm interesting. Is he any good? Are either of them any good?
And I found something on this rather hideous website:
http://www.inter.it/aas/news/reader?N=29487&L=en
Riccardo Ceccarelli (defender) co-ownership AC Milan/Inter: solved in favour of AC Milan
Marco Varaldi (goalkeeper), co-ownership Inter/AC Milan: solved in favour of AC Milan

So that's corroborated...
Edit: They'll probably be loaned out again.

Very interesting idea. I think you are right at your core. Our strategy needs to change. We need to play the youth more. I want to believe carlo will play them, but he can only play the pieces he has. Yes he didnt play gourcuff... but the truth was, gorky wasnt that good. I personally would have still run him out more than brocchi or emerson, because in the long run its beneficial, but i really believe carlo attempted to put out line up to win, and if that meant emerson at 32, so biet.
The thing w/ abate is, milan project him at a wing-back, perhaps side midfielder (serginho-esque). The issue is we have players like janku and oddo who have big contracts. Its pointless to carry 4 RB (abate, oddo, bonera, zambro). So the issue is move atleast 1 of them. Bonera wouldn't go because he is improving and has versitilty in Central Defendse. Obviously not zambrotta. So that leaves oddo and abate. The problem is, no1 really wants oddo.... whi9ch is an overwhelming problem we have with alot of our squad. So the logical move is loan, get him games, get him better.
I used to blame carlo for all this, but really at the core it is Adriano Gallianis fault. He could have let favalli go, but he renewed.... if i'm incorrect same thing w/ brocchi? We could ahve replaced those peices w/ younger peices with more potential. (if they r going to be a backup, why not bring some1 u rate highly for the future....).
I do not see carlo as blameless. Ultimately he has to make his voice heard to the board more so. A coach with 2 champions league titles should get what he wants. Ferguson at ManUtd calls the shots. Granted he has 20 years and countless league titles, but behind him at ManUtd, i cant really think of a more tenured coach than Carlo (atleast w/ a top teir club).
so whoever is to blame, is pointless but change needs to be made. We need Milan to get younger. We need to fill the holes with HUNGRY players. Players who want to win, players who have pippo and maldini's type of hunger.
I don't think our squad as it stands can break the top 3. The addition of ronaldinho, and assuming he meshes and regains form will make us challenge, but even then i wouldn't say we've done all we can. We're still thin in the back. We're still lacking consistency upfront.
I think its time for us to cut deadweight, take the loss and make the changes.
500 pages.
We havent made any transfers for more than 300 pages.

 why are we loaning Abate to Torino :dontkn: He isn't too young!!
Of all the players that came in he and Zambrotta are the only ones I really want to see put on our shirt...Oddo isn't good enough.
Regarding Ronaldo, i saw an article on goal.com about a week ago in which he says Milan did not treat him well.
