Ok, on the Adebayor issue...hmmm dunno...would rather Gomez...but at the end of the day, I just want a guaranteed 20+ goal a season player.

Thats about it.

Difference between Seedorf and Dinho's bad year: Dinho was injured - Seedorf wasn't. Plus at his age, it is perfectly logical to assume Seedorf's deteriorating form will continue in the future while Dinho at 28 can (and likely will) bounce back.

no actually, I think Seedorf had a good season.. and yes, if you missed it, Seedorf was injured for about 5 matches, so was Gattuso and Kaka, and also Pato...

when he played vs Roma, he was one of the best players on the pitch, and he was rushed into playing.....

and btw, if you look at our form this season, its probably because most of our players were either injured, or suspended...(and yea, they kinda lost motivation)

in the last 5 matches, no no, in the last 10 matches, when the players kinda stopped getting injured, we almost won all of them... only the Atalanta and Sampdoria match I would put as total failure...

as for the Dinho part, when he was fit, he was on bench... he was injured yes, but he wasnt a starter anyway.

Seedorf is 31(?), yes thats "old" but then again, age isnt related in anyway to the player's performance...

biggest (italian) examples:

Nesta(32?), Cannavaro(34),Del Piero(32+?), Pannuci(34?), Maldini(39)

just please, stop using the "he's old, he cant play" theory, its simply the worst theory in the history of football...

I dont know why many are against the Ronaldinho move, I think he will work wonders here. I'm all for Dinho at any price below 25m euro. Adebayor? I wouldn't sign him if he was for 10m to be honest, he is not what we need. If we are looking for a tall strong striker, then Drogba is 10 times better than Adebayor. Gomez, I dont know, I think its too soon to judge him just like Benzema and Huntelaar.

My favourites for the striker role would be: Sheva, Adriano, Balotelli, Aguero. I'm not convinced that the other strikers who will come here will be a guaranteed success.

Galliani: We rule the market (http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/jun5l.html) ---> This is bull!

Boriello? Abbiati? He is not ashamed to include them? :haha:

Yeah, we got Flamini BUT he is FREE. Ok, we have Zambrotta.

So one Zambro and free Flamini rule market? lol :stupid:

I expect him to say that we'll get Marzoratti, Coppola, Pozzi, DiGennaro, and all Milan loaned players and again tell media : We rule the market not only in Italy but also in the world!!! :stupid:

But I hope Gallis has Zapata, Vargas, R10 and Drogba in his sleeves

Can't say much about Gomez as I haven't seen him play, Drogba would be an ideal striker but tell me honestly do you think he will join Milan when he has the chance to join Inter who has Mourinho? The reason he came to Chelski and the reason he wanted to leave was when JoMo left. Not only that but look at the guys age, all he could give Milan is 2 maybe 3 years max. I'm not saying Ade is a better player than Drogba because Drog would murder him but for long term I think Ade would be the better solution as he's only 24 and could offer a bit more. I doubt the transfer would be that high though, most likely between 10-15 million.

O.L. chairman Jean-Michel Aulas has declared: "If Arsenal are offering 16 million Euros for Samir Nasri, I think that Ben Harfa's price is between 15 and 20 million Euros". The young striker is tracked by O.M. and PSG

Ben Arfa is 15-20 mil, but benzema is 60
where is the logic, ben arfa is very good, young, talent, and has alot of potential to get better, only problem with hem, is that he plays best at winger, and Milan doent use wingers.

On the Vargas move, it seem everyday he is closer to signing with Viola, but nothing ever happens, we need to do something quick, before one morning we wake up, and he is officially a viola player.

lots of rumors today...mainly the adebayor one..i dont think there can be anyway the price is 40mil..plus dont the clubs have to agree on terms FIRST than the club can talk to the player...we might be intersted in him but i dont think anything concrete...ive watched alot of Mario gomez this season and past season..he would be perfect for us..he is actually fast for a big man and would compliment our current strikers very well

I'm talking about NEXT season. Ronaldinho hardly played at all.

It's so interesting one bad season and people are writing him off. One good, not even great, but good season, Boriello is the second coming. Gila had 3 sub par seasons here, and people still defended him for most of his time here.

Don't get me wrong I like Vargas, but there is always room for a player like Ronaldinho. R10, can do for us what Kaka does...take over and win a game that we have no business winning.

People who say R10 is done, should never be asking for a Sheva to return. After 2 horrible seasons what gives you the idea he'll return to form? And he's older than R10, so is Seedorf.

A 50% R10 would clean the floor with Seedorf. I'm not gonna stick up Seedorf just because he's in our colors.

R10 would bring a serious offensive punch to our team. Seedorf is old and doesn't help cover the LB. So many times I saw him visibly tired and unable to keep up with the run of play, forget about helping in the LB.

He's a legend in our minds because of his CL exploits...last season he wasn't good and I can't see him getting better or being able to fulfill the role he has been for the past few years in an adequate manner.

Ronaldinho has 2 horrible seasons at least where he has been on the bench more often than he play. And the season before that was not that fanastic. So its 3 seasons of underperforming and hey suddenly, he is going to tear down all defences? Please don't make me laugh, his form is not even better Gilardino to say the least and Gila get bashed but not Ronaldinho?

Both have it all ... but there is a huge difference (so huge that they don't like each other): mentality.

When one always complain when he's not a starter (Ben Arfa), the other doesn't say anything when his coach puts him as a winger whereas he's a lot better like a striker (Benzema).

So here's Ronadinho's 3 seasons of "underperforming":

2005-06
League: 29/17 (matches/goals)
Europe: 12/7

2006-07
League: 35/21
Europe: 8/2

2007-08
League: 17/8
Europe: 8/1

Imagine what he can do when he's not underperforming...

interesting indeed, you were just saying that Seedorf will suck cuz he was bad this season ;)

and @Gila case, I was one of his "supporters", but i didnt support his performances, I only disagreed with people who said he's the reason behind our failure ;)(dont get me wrong, I have nothing against you :P)

I think we've squeezed Seedorf the best out of Seedorf, he's starting to show his show his age, and I don't expect him to get any better. He'll struggle and have to work extra hard just to maintain his form.

And Seedorf's skills will continue to diminish given his age. If he had a Del Piero type year maybe I'd have a different opinion. But Seedorf has signifcantly dipped in performance, Del Piero hasn't.

Having said that, Del Piero is definately the exception to the rule (as with only a tiny minority of elite athletes) and by no means is it the rule. How many other players who play the same position and are his age had a similar years to him? All the other players you mentioned are defender that can play positionally to effectively do their job unlike an attacking player.

I'll stick to my point on this one, as you haven't convinced me otherwise, (as others have regarding other points) Seedorf in a line-up over Ronaldinho...only makes sense in the mind of certain Milan Fans.:rone:

No unbiased person would choose Seedorf over R10 for their team unless they haven't been watching football for the past 5 years.

Now when it comes to how much $$$ to spend to get him...that's a debate I'm willing to have.

about the power forward,
I never heard here about a couple of russian strikers.

I saw Lithuania Russia on Eurosport tonight

I jumped from the sofa watching the 2nd russian goal,
a superb voleé with the left foot,
just after a difficult control in rotation with the chest.

The name of the scorer is Roman Pavlyuchenko

Spartak Mosca
Height: 1.88 m.
Weight: 78.00 kg.
Date of birth: 15/12/1981

.... and why not Pavel Pogrebnyak, Zenith,
top scorer in Uefa Cup , this season?

Height 188 cm
Weight 91 kg
Date of birth: 08.11.1983

On contract till 31.12.2009

Pavlyuchenko is the substitute of Pogrebnyak in the national team.

I would give a look.

WRONG. Maybe performance wise he wasn't exactly doing all the tricks and flashy movements but this year is the only year where he was really struggling and that is because he had a few niggling injuries and there was Eto'o, Henry, Messi in the same squad. Last year he wasn't fantastic you say and yet he scored 21 goals. The year before he brought the Champions League to Barcelona, he was their star man. He was the top scorer in the CL and he won the Fifa world player of the year and the Golden Ball.

What the hell are you talking about? I cant believe you even compared Ronaldinho to Gila.

About Galliani saying we are the best in the market so far, yes maybe..but thats like being proud of being first place after the first lap when there's 59 laps remaining. He really should shut his mouth and just focus on his job. After two markets of failure, we expect nothing less than an excellent one.

ROFL People don't talk about Ronaldinho underperforming and in the same breath say that Seedorf had a good season. If Seedorf played 35 games then 5 were great 10 were decent and the rest horrible. Definitely not someone we can depend on. You can tell because if Seedorf were doing his job properly then Kaka wouldn't have to constantly come back into our half to get the ball. I'd prefer we don't get Dinho and use the money to get that world class striker, switch back to 4-3-1-2 with Kaka where he's supposed to be and own everyone again :D

I dont know why many are against the Ronaldinho move, I think he will work wonders here. I'm all for Dinho at any price below 25m euro. Adebayor? Hitmannq8 I don't think you can compare Huntelaar with Benzema. Benzema pretty much just broke on the scene whereas Huntelaar has been consistently performing for a few seasons now. Ajax is missing the CL I think we should try to get Huntelaar. As long we get another fullback and a creative midfielder then Huntelaar is guaranteed to score.

P.S. I thought you were talking bout guarantees...why mention Sheva, Balotelli and ADRIANO???? :s Aguero is class though.

just a personal opinion, i think they are better bets than the rest..especially Sheva you know.. we already had him and he won't need time to fit in.. he is still the same player - maybe he has declined physically, but his talent cannot disappear like that. i'm sure he will be useful.

balotelli - future golden ball winner, i have no doubts about this kid. he is as good as pato.

adriano - every player who goes to inter screws up. take a look at some highlights of his performances over the last 6 months - he reminded us of what he used to be. all he needs is a change of environment - just like Dinho.

You can be happy if you beat other clubs to sign Flamini but it's not like you sign a great midfielder for normal price, it's not like you signed Nesta, Rui Costa etc. And then tell press that you have made the best market. :p231:

Oh, come on! This is a team that has less than 40 million transfer budget every year and you think they are actually going to spend that much on one player? If we aren't willing to pay half of that amount for Ronaldinho, there is no way we are spending that kind of money on Adebayor.

I do understand what he means. What I care about is his condition. Can he reach his old performance (can he be not underperforming)? This is the big question. He said that WHEN Ronaldinho were not underperforming, etc (ONLY when).

Ronaldinho is getting worse and worse since Barca won CL 2006.

About Ronaldinho goals : He scored 7 penalties from 21 goals in 2006/07 and 3 from 8 goals in 2007/08 which means he scored goals that were not from penalties : 14 goals in 2006/07 and 5 in 2007/08.

If compare to Gila (who should be our worst player according how often, intensive, rude, etc. bashings he got) :
Gila made 12 goals in 2006/07 and 7 goals in 2007/08.

If I use WHEN sentence : Imagine how could Gila's performance be WHEN Gila were not underperforming? :D

Well, I am not against Ronaldinho transfer as there is always possibility in any case (that he can reach his old performance) but I only care about his up-to-date performance/condition. I am afraid he is the next Milan's Rivaldo!

There are plenty of formations that we could come up with to get the best out the team if we included R10.

Think out of the Kaka, Seedorf, Pato, box. Can't use Ronaldinho? You know we finished 5th this year with the above players?

We finished 5th with these players, but Im responding to the notion of comparing Ronaldhio to Seedorf. They are nothing like each other and we would become even more vulnerable to the counter attack than we already are.

I dont like the idea of a Milan team with Pato, Kaka, Ronaldhinio and Pirlo all as regulars. Pato is already an amazing support striker, but is not a centre forward. we need an Inzaghi (Benzema lol) up front to score in those tight games like against PSV, Lyon etc.

If we are going to find someone to replace Seedorf then it MUST be a player who will defend and attack.

Barcelona are chasing AC Milan midfield ace Andrea Pirlo.

Sky Italia says new Barca coach Pep Guardiola wants to build his midfield around Pirlo next season and is convinced the Italian is unsettled at Milan.

Indeed, it's emerged that Pirlo is upset with his status at Milan after learning of the bumper deal new signing Mathieu Flamini was handed and also the substantial contract improvements to teammates.

Hahaha, first pato, now pirlo, next barca wants Gattuso and Kaka.

Milan shouldnot even consider a deal with Barca, since they ask for so much for there players.

Wait a second, gentleman, I think we are missing somethinga bout Seedorf here.

Seedorf is a champion. Let's face it. Forget about his age, his (declining?) form, and his lack ofpace. He is a champion.

He won the Champion League four times. FOUR. Quattro, if you know Italian.

What does it mean? Very simply, it means that Seedorf has vast, if not gigantic, experiences in playing, both domestically and, more so, in Europe. His experiences are so valuable that any team would love to have his knowledge.

If you take that experience into account in terms of how we should price our players as asset, Seedorf is going to worth more than Pato.

Perhaps only the likes of Maldini can match.

And obviously, some national team coach has never thought about that... Wait, two national team coaches. Figure them out yourself ;).

Apparently according to goal.com (ask if you want the link) milan agreed on personal terms with Adebeyor.. Its always easy for milan to agree on personal terms with players, but once it comes to agreeing a fee with the club it always comes to a stump, but considering arsenal havent won much in a long while they should really consider selling him for close to or exactly at what milans offer is.

Arsenal won't sell Adebayor, or if they do, they will prob ask for a ton load of money...now, I think Gomez is as talented, younger, and should be cheaper....(or will be until the Euros start at any rate.)

Haven't read/heard recently about any further interest in the young German international, so I doubt we will get him.

R10, a CB (Zapata), and a ST (Gomez/Adebayor) and I am happy...oh...and if we sign a LB, I will be even happier. :D

We will prob get: R10 or either Adebayor/Drogba, and if we are lucky, a defender of some sort.

3 more players methinks...if that much.

Galliani's posturing is not encouraging at present...I have a feeling we will have to sell before we buy again.....

Milan Handed Another Champions League Lifeline

Milan have been handed another Champions League lifeline, as Romanian side Steaua Bucharest are on the verge of being excluded from the competition...

The Romanian side risk being thrown out of the Champions League for allegedly fixing a game in their own domestic league.

Steaua have already been penalised by the Bulgarian authorities and their president George Becali has been accused of match fixing. He is alledged to have paid another Romanian side $2.6 million in order to help his side to win the league.

If this is the case then, just like Porto, they would be instantly kicked out under UEFA’s zero tolerance policy regarding such matters.

Their place would then be offered to Dinamo Bucarest. However, there are reports that Dinamo do not want to play in the Champions League. In this case, Milan would be given the place as UEFA’s highest ranked team not already participating in the competition.

UEFA would have no choice but to award the place to the Rossoneri if Rapid snub their chance, a fact that will delight Milan fans worldwide, after it looked like the Italian giants had thrown away their Champions League prospects for next season.

The Rossoneri failed to qualify for the competition after finishing fifth in Serie A, following a less than vintage campiagn by their high standards.

The club now has the chance to jump straightback into the driving seat as they look to use UEFA's rule book to wriggle their way back into the European big time.

Salvatore Landolina

So i write to goal.com telling them that Bulgarian authorities have nothing to do with Romanian league and that it was Rapid Bucarest who are next in line after Steaua because they finished 3rd while Dinamo finished 4th.
After few hours the old article disappears and i new article pops up.

about the power forward,
I never heard here about a couple of russian strikers.

I saw Lithuania Russia on Eurosport tonight

I jumped from the sofa watching the 2nd russian goal,
a superb voleé with the left foot,
just after a difficult control in rotation with the chest.

The name of the scorer is Roman Pavlyuchenko

Spartak Mosca
Height: 1.88 m.
Weight: 78.00 kg.
Date of birth: 15/12/1981

.... and why not Pavel Pogrebnyak, Zenith,
top scorer in Uefa Cup , this season?

Height 188 cm
Weight 91 kg
Date of birth: 08.11.1983

On contract till 31.12.2009

Pavlyuchenko is the substitute of Pogrebnyak in the national team.

I would give a look.

Pogrebnyak is definately not for sale, same I think applies to Pavlyuchenko

I cannot believe people compare Gila and R10. And I just cannot see why people here are still defending Gila, b/c I am sure this past season, you guys were the same people that kept asking for Gila's head. Who cares if he scores like 25 goals next year for Viola, as we all have to understand that GILA will never score over 15 goals for us b/c the coach has no faith in him and the players rather shoot than pass to him.

As for R10, I think he is still the most talented player in the world and if he comes to Milan, we will be pretty unstoppable.

Gomez, Benezma, Abebayor and Drogba are great, I just hope Milan can get one of them with a fair price and not opt for cheap oftion like Sauso.

Zapata, Cannini, Maggio, Abate, Vargas, Dessena, Dossena, Cirganri. I thought Milan will at least sign 2-3 of them?

Alves is a brilliant player and a better player then MAicon even, it will be shown once he starts to play in really strong squad like Barca is. He was my dream RB with Gattuso in pair, but...there he goes. At his best Zambrotta was even better then Alves, but Zambro is now 31 and Alves is a young player that could have great future with Milan.

Galliani: "L'attaccante?

Flamini
Ronaldinho

Pirlo had a press conderence where he said he will ba staying in Milan untill thze end aldough the offers were real. Milan WILL NOT sell anyone.

My guess for the forwards is: Drogba + Sheva from Chelsea. Not Adebayor, goms, Eto'o... Boriello will end up somewhere else, while Paloschi will be loaned. Drogba, Sheva, PAto, Pippo will be our strikers. that is a great attacking line for a long season.

He scored 21 goals last season how is that horrible? Even this season he scored 8 goals in 17 matches

Scoring from penalties is nothing to be proud of.

His performances last season were so bad that he was benched. Then this season he is only a team rotation player.

How much more do we need to see of him to know that he is on his way down? We are taking a risk by buying him. His form and condition is really not any better than Gila. That's why we must be carefully with R10, whether he can still terrorize defense is still a doubt, we are not buying into a sure player with R10. Its just like buying Pato, nobody can be certain he will come great before he actually play. You guys are just too hopeful he will turn out great.

He'll bounce back that's for sure he just needs change of environment, if you remember Sheva too had bad times in his career, Kaka did also, did that meant that we should sell them?, we kept our faith in them and look where KAka is now and what Sheva has done for us.And Ronnie is not a finished player he's 28, if he was 30+ i would have understood what you're saying but he still has 4, 5 years of top football in him barring any injuries

alot of people on this thread say that whenever they see him play he is never impressive, then they say they saw him play twice or three times max.

to me i consider him in the molding of Rui Costa The Great. He is young, great passer, good leadership, and can make great plays, a good substitute he would be in Milan, untill he takes over from seedorf.

Wether or not we should sign Ronnie depends on the formation next season. If we play 4-3-1-2 then we'd do better signing a striker (I still favour Gómez). But if we use a 4-3-2-1 line-up or even 4-2-3-1 (as mentioned a while back we might), then Ronaldinho is an ideal signing for us. Just to set the record straight...I never said I wanted to get rid of Seedorf, I'd just like to see R10 brought in as Seedorf can't handle the rigors of full season.

As for Ronaldinho being a risk, so is every player. Gila was supposed to be a sure thing when we brought in from Parma, we all know how that story ended.

Ronaldinho is a risk, but just like the stock market you invest in a stock when it's low and you think it has bottomed out. That's what management is trying to do now.

When it comes to our striker position, we need a clean up, finish up man to just slot home all those chances our midfield will be creating. Big in the box, strong, good in the air.

IMO this describes Drogba, but Berbatov would probably the best pick-up. I haven't seen enough of Gomez but look forward to seeing him a lot in the Euros.

Just not Adebayor!!!

To Vulli - Your list and mine are very similar, and have a chance of happening minus the keeper.

Even though Seerdorf is getting on in years, he still has a lot to offer Milan. He might not be as fast as he used to be, but when he is on form his vision, reading of the game, passing and shooting is as good as any other WC player in the same role/position.

If we play 4-3-1-2 then he is ideal to rotate with Kaka or to play behind the 2 fwds if Kaka is pushed further up field.

Milan would never sell Pirlo until he is atleast 35yrs old or he chooses to leave because he is unhappy etc.

Nesta,Pirlo,Kaka and now Pato are the spine of our team. Break the spine and u know the rest.

Milan would be silly to sell Paloschi, especially with the 6+5 rule coming into play in the future. Loaning Paloschi out would give him more game time in serie-a, however I would prefer to see him stay and get used in the copa and uefa cup games so that he gets used playing in the side.

On the topic of forwards, awhile ago there was an article on channel4 I think where Kaka mentioned something about him playing as the support striker next season, instead of his usual position?

Any thoughts on this?

You guys are fast to forget. His form was poor and he was dropped from the starting lineup under the excuse that he has an injury. Then all the nonsense about his fatty tummy, nightlife, missing training sessions......and it all started in 2006 after the world cup. His form has never pick up since then.

Even Messi who was injuried for 3 months that season was deemed a better player and rank higher in personal awards. If anybody carry barca that season, its Messi not ronaldinho. His form has dipped so much that barca is already considering selling him at the end of the season. And we all know how 2007/08 end for him.

If we got him for a good price then its still worth a try else i rather we go for other players on the way up. Gomez, Benzema are young players worth trying for.

His form has dipped so much that barca is already considering selling him at the end of the season. And we all know how 2007/08 end for him.

If we got him for a good price then its still worth a try else i rather we go for other players on the way up. Gomez, Benzema are young players worth trying for.

That's all I ever said.

I think he'll have something to prove this coming year.:strong:

And I don't think Barca wanted him out. He wants our of Barca is the way I've seen this soap opera developing.

Huh? Ronaldinho carried barca in 2006/07 with what? his fatty tummy?

You guys are fast to forget. His form was poor and he was dropped from the starting lineup under the excuse that he has an injury. Then all the nonsense about his fatty tummy, nightlife, missing training sessions......and it all started in 2006 after the world cup. His form has never pick up since then.

:wth: Really this has to stop here.

1) Ronaldinho's dip is form is not that much but is heavily exaggerated by the media simply because when at his best he's unstoppable. They did the same thing to ronaldo at real where even though he was scoring a lot they crucified him for his weight gain and less dazzling displays

2)Ronaldinho is still the most talented player in the world atm. More than Kaka, Messi, CR7 etc. Each of the aforementioned might be better at him in one or two areas but Ronaldinho's arsenal is so complete and diverse that whn on form he stands above them all.

3)Ronaldinho scored 21 goals last season 06-07. Not a small tally especially as Eto'o, Messi, and for a while even Saviola was out injured. Scoring the penalties is almost irellevant...because Kaka scored penalties in the CL too and we are happy that he was top scorer. In that season Ronaldinho was seriously over-used as a winger, CAM, Support forward and as an out-and-out-striker. To say that Messi was better because of a couple of good games and a handful of fancy moves is laughable if not downright ridiculous. Messi since his first senior game has NEVER scored more than 14 goals and has never played more than 28 league games

4) If you think it's really his dip in form that has Barca eager to sell then I guess there's no point in continuing this discussion further. Kaka's form has dipped and so have many stars...some dips stretch acros seasons. It's purely a political and financial manouvere. How BAD could a player really be if he keeps a scoring ratio of almost 0.5 consistently :googly:

5) I agree with the gomez over Ronaldinho.....like sooooo many other players we are chasing...we don't NEEEEEEEDDD him. I'm not completely sold on Benzema. French strikers have a way of looking like Pele+Maradonna+Ronaldo incarnate in France then flopping really hard in a tougher league *cough*cough*henry*cisse*cough*cough. I won't mind seeing Benzema eleswhere....at least for a little while :1old:

what we REALLY NEED now is a powerful-big forward. Gomez, Adebayor, Drogba etc.
ronaldinho is not a need, but he would be welcome to join. we do however have a lack in AMF's, now that Gourcuff is out. Dunno if there are any other worthwhile or interesting players in that position, esp. one that can take a leading role.... we are linked to moutinho - but i dont think he is ready for a starting/rotation with seedorf spot on the team. Mancini from AS Roma would be an awesome buy, the price must be high though.
Tottenham bought Giovanni Dos Santos from barįa.... (http://www.gazzetta.it/Calcio/Calciomercato/Primo_Piano/2008/06_Giugno/06/giovanidossantos.shtml) the article also says that this could make way for the sale of Berbatov.

WEll, Trez did pretty well in Italy and if Benzema is anything like Trez, then he is a better 40M buy then Adebayor. I am still not too sure about Adebayor as he really only has one good season in EPL. With the comments that Torres made, I think striker in EPL seems to have it easier than Series A.

As much as I am tired of saying it and I know Brasileiro will agree with me, I believe we're really limiting Kaka by playing him as a striker. Although his finishing is one of his best assets, I believe we're really restricting one of the other aspects of his game, his playmaking ability. It would be harder for him to dominate the game from the striker position as he may be isolated from the play. I think he could score just as many goals from the CAM position as from the SS position. Finally playing Kaka as a CAM saves us time/money looking for a proper #10 as don't believe Seedorf is consistent enough for such an important role.

With all due respect I don't think I'm the one who's fast to forget. I'm pretty sure that when Ronaldinho was first benched in the fall of 2007, it was like the fifth time in his Barca-career, meaning he was hardly benched (if at all) in the 2006/07 season (which corresponds to my memory).

Also personal awards are hardly anything to go by when assessing a players performance (i.e. Frank Lampard 2005, Zidane 2006). And even then Ronaldinho finished above Messi in the 2006 Player of the Year (which was in the middle of the season in question = 06/07). The 2007 Player of the Year awards (Messi 2nd, Ronnie 5th) was influenced by both players performances in the preceding months, were Messi was the best in the world, and Ronnie was starting to falter.

Some might say this discussion is getting a bit irrelevant, but we are talking about a player heavily linked with us, plus I felt i had to respond once again.

Im not sure are Milan managers just really trying to bring big names into the clb or they are just inactive on the market and not working enough.

Dos Santos went to Tottenham ( which is a good club with a great coach and few great players ), but for around 6mln + 5 after some period of time and considering the ammount of apperances and so on...

Dos Santos was the best young palyer of the young world cup few years ago. He is in bad relations with Rijkaard and so on, but he is an extraordinary palyer who is 19!! I cant believe Milan didnt look for him. He can play 3 roles in Milan ( left wing/second striker, right wing/second striker, and as a classical AM ). Its too weird to me that noone reacted...United, Chalsea, ARSENAL!!, Juve, inter...???

Dossena - an excellent Lb and in future for sure to be a NT player in Italy. Went to L'pool for 10 mln. Milan could have signed him for sure.

now there are "normal" players that can improve our squad, players like: Zapata, Boruc, AQUILANI ( who could leave Roma and could go to Juve - the best young midfielder in Italy...), Vargas ( gone )...and so on...

When Galliani says there are just certain players that can improve Milan that is not true!

And one more time I will say that Gomes in not on the level of Drogba, Adebayor, Benzema, Berbatov... AndRonaldinho is the most talented palyer on earth even with his knees broken, same as Roinaldo. But Ronaldinho is not injured and is 28! Im sure Milan has an agreement with him and I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that this genious wears Milan shirt next season. Ronaldinho is a football God when is 90% fit, no Kaka', C."Ronalo", Messi can match him.

And also about Adebayor: I see some of you speak how he is rough and so on...dpesnt behave nicely. I would really like to see Drogba in Milan, but when you actually came to think about it, maybe Adebayor is the best choice. If Milan wants that tipe of player Adebayor can fufill just that. He has showed he has shot, skill, touch, heads well, has energy and has no fear and has fire in his game. And HE IS 24 years old. Which means Milan could have a top class striker for next 6-7 years. Dont forget that Drogba reached this level of absoulte top football 3 or 4 year ago, and now he is 31...

Hmm, i doubt these news are a coincidence.
Juve are chasing Xabi Alonso as you know. Liverpool allowed Alonso to discuss the personal terms with Juve and they found a mutual understanding. All that is left is Juve and Liverpool to negotiate the price.
Juve offered 15/16m eur while Liverpool are still asking for 20 m eur.
Today i read that Aston Villa accepted Liverpool's offer for Barry.
And also today we hear these news about Juve's latest offer for Aquilani.

Liverpool found a player to replace Alonso while Juve are "trying to buy" Aquilani, who'll cover the same position as Alonso.

Something like this could make Liverpool accept Juve's offer for Alonso (15-16m eur) instead of sticking to the 20m eur they initially asked for.

That's the most logical thinking in this case. The Aquilani rumors are meant to lower Alonso's price.

Yeah, another possibility is that Juve are really going after Aquilani but in that case they'll have to give up on Alonso, and i doubt they'll do that, especially since Alonso and Juve agreed on the wages and everything.

Third option is Juve to buy both of them which is almost impossible because with Camoranesi and Sissoko (and one of Nedved/Giovinco) as sure starters, there is no place in the starting XI for both Alonso and Aquilani.
Also, in order to buy both of them Juve will have to sell players. Trezeguet is the one who'll bring good money to Juve but if Juve give Iaquinta to Roma and sell Trez, then they'll be left with only two attackers.

Liki i said, it's probably a smokescreen and an atempt to lower Alonso's price.

What bothers me is Trez. Yesterday he clearly said that he'll stay and that he doesn't want to leave but Gazzetta keep claiming that Trez is sure to leave Juve for Barca.
Gazzetta aren't Tuttosport or one of those Spanish and English papers who write BS. They are usually well informed.
I'll kill Secco if he sells Trez :D

excuse my ignorance , but what type of player is benzema ?? :embarass: is he an inzaghi-trezegol type of player, an allround/mobile forward like sheva, or a power striker like adebayor/drogba etc..?
as for drogba, i agree he is a class player and better than adebayor as of now. but he is 31 yrs old... we always complain that we buy old players, then the same should apply to drogba - he has 2-3 yrs max at top level.... adebayor will most likely improve for some years, and play quality football until 30~33 yrs old. — 39M is crazy money i believe, however.

Arsenal previously made a bid of 12M for Zapata, and it was rejected. so we will have to pay some 15M+ for him. I heard that Mexes' clause says he can be bought at 14M, this july. can anyone confirm the mexes' clause thing? and what are your opinions regarding zapata vs. mexes?
personally i have never seen zapata play, but i can say mexes is classs.

None of the teams you mentioned need to do as nearly as much work in the market as we do, as they all finished in respectable positions in the table.

They also didn't need to address their striking positions as we do.

If you post the transactions that Fiorentina and Tottenham during the transfer market. They were both quick to address the BIGGEST NEEDS of their team.

Our club is doing a lot of window shopping when it comes to players we need buy, and buying players in positions that we really have covered. And aren't we linked with Veloso too?

I'm pretty happy about things thus far...i wish we could trim the fat a bit, make a few more replacements.
i've always wanted milan to buy some crafty wingers, but i've realized that is not going to happen because that is not the current style of play, so there is no point in pushing for those things. as far as forwards go, i'd rather take a chance on huntelaar (and we have a year to develop him for CL) than drogba or adebayor. well, i'd take adebayor but drogba just makes me want to barf, i would have a seriously hard time watching him.
my other main concern is with gattuso, as he cannot pass the ball, therefore deploying him as a right midfielder is a bit of a waste. i'm a bit nervous about our overall midfield creativity once we get past kaka' and pirlo and seedorf. just one mid to take the pressure out of the center might be a nice thing to work with, especially since we saw how painful it was to operate this year with wingbacks who weren't up to the task.
Forza Milan, up yours splInter!

The thing is that people here would like Amuari instead of Borreillo. To me, when given play time, I think Borreillo is a better striker than Amuari.

Secondly, I understand why people want Milan to sign him and him and him NOW. But u must understand that it takes time for a proper transfer to take place. Of all the players who HAD OFFICIALLY SIGNED with a new team, who do u think is A MUST for Milan to sign? Amuari, he is no better than Borreillo, since he will be a forth striker with Milan. Power striker =#1, Pato=#2, Pippo=#4. Revelliere is a pure RB, and to be honest, I still rate Zambro over him, and Bonera also, b/c he has been playing in Italy all his career and in Milan for the past 2 years. So if Milan sign Revelliere, he will be fighting the #3 RB spot with Oddo. Which Oddo will have the advantage. That means, no point in signing him. Amelia is no better than Abbiati. Of all those players, the only player I would say Milan missed out is Melberg, b/c he will bring leadership and exp to the back four, but then again, don't we have Nesta and Maldini for that. As for Dessena, Janku is a much better player than he is and Vargas is still available, whom to say that Milan is not working it out with Vargas, remember the Nesta's deal. Even if Xavi signed with Juve, do you think MIlan missed out on signing him or they just didn't bother approaching him. Tony29, being a Juve fan, if Flamini actually signed with Juve, do you think Juve will still go after Xavi? As for Dos Santos, he wanted play time, something that clubs like MU, us or any other teams could not promise. Thats why he chosed a mid-table team.

I know the transfer season is fun and all, but to be honest, there are still many many many players out there, here is a list:
R10, Sheva, Drogba, Gomez, RVN, Adebayor, Quad(Samp forward), Eto, Sauzo, Crespo, Robino, Podolski, Lampard, Dossena, Marquez, Xavi, Diarra, C7, Cirgani, Maggio, Tiago, Zapata, Vargas, Dessena, Cannini, Mexes, Ferrarri....

Don't worry now until teams are signing Drogba, Mexes, Diarra, C7...and Milan ended up with calling players back from loan.

Cheers

When will you understand that we're talking about the QUALITY of the arrivals :scream:?
Barca gets rid of Zambrotta because he is clearly deteriorating
guess who we get?
Real Madrid did the same thing with Ronaldo and Emerson

I bet you would have had included Pirlo, Seedorf et al. if they weren't in the starting lineup.

Not sure about zambrotta clearly deteriorating when he played well with the national team.

If it's a matter of quality then I can assure you that a lot of players have quality. The key is whether: we can bring the quality out from them (coach, system, tactics etc.).

I was speaking about the ARRIVALS. Instead of hoping to MAKE quality....why not just BUY quality. It's what big clubs do. For many of our signings of late WE TRIED TO MAKE QUALITY :v46:....e.g. Olivera, Vogel,

I concede that BUYING quality is harder than it sounds because we all thought that's was what we were getting in buying Gila but surely it can't be ALL BAD!!

Zambrotta IS deteriorating speed wise and stamina wise two of the most vital qualities for today's left backs. It's only natural...
My point is take a look at the repalcements:
Barca: Zmabrotta -Alves
Madrid: Ronaldo-RVN, Higuain; Emerson-Diarra, Gago

We have had NO REPLACEMENTS for Cafu/Stam on the right...and NONE for Serginho/Paolo on the left.

While I maintain that ronaldo is the best player in the history of the entire universe...Real have done the smart thing in acquiring a more reliable striker Then kicking out the less reliable one. No gambles. Just straight up buisness. I will gamble with Ronaldo until he can't walk again....but I'm sure most of us want a BIG NAME (NAME= RERUTATION) striker and Borriello isn't yet this.

Tony29.

Gabriel489, i may be wrong but i believe that if Milan bought Amauri, he would have been a sure starter this season (unless he flopped later).
Borriello is everything but a sure starter.

I'm aware that Borriello scored more goals than Amauri this season but i strongly believe that classes separate the two players and the Brazilian is playing football at a different level than Borriello.

I'm not being biased at all here, btw :)

Personal rivalries aside I still think Dos Santos is one of the most overrated player in the world, why would Barcelona sell him if he was such a phenomenal player? Let me tell you why because he was all hype, on the pitch all he could do was pass it back and then pass it back, I can't believe some fans wanted to go for him. Another thing he's way too light weight and will be eaten alive by the PL defense.

From what i've seen from him in Barcelona, i agree with you.
Although, i must add that the kid played some nice football and was one of the best 3 young players at the u20 world cup last summer.
He has the talent as seen from his performances at the youth WC, but he's shown nothing of his talent in Barcelona.

But Ghost, it must be said that Tottenham didn't take a risk with this purchase. Ģ4.7m isn't too much money. Even if he's a complete flop Tottenham don't lose much but they can gain a lot if he succeeds. He is just 19 and he was one of the best 3 young players in the world only 1 year ago.

I agree that he's hyped but there is still hope that he can be a success.

That is the point. For that price I would take him instantly without overthinking it. He didnt do well in his first Barcelona season, so what? he is 19 and was one of the worlds best young palyers, he knows how to play football well.

I also watched the U20 World Cup last summer and I kept a look out for Vela - both players play for the same national team and I did see glimpses of potential in Santos but we all know potential is one thing and delivering another. This season though he did not impress me one bit, like I mentioned before he was all hype but at the same time he's young.

Tony I know what you mean when you say they didn't take a risk at nearly 5 Million but the fee could rise to 9 Million and trust me if he becomes a hit over the next season when a big club comes knocking on his door he's off. It will be cool watching him and Vela play this season, Carlos has been playing out of position on the wing so can't wait to see him upfront.

I agree with you that Amauri is another level than Boriello as they are different in style plus Amauri has more skill on playing the ball but I do think Amauri is overrated player. He sounds already world class player but the true he is not yet world class player.

He is still the best forward among mediocre forwards, but not even the worst among the WC class forwards.

I really dont care that he signed with Juve or even Inter and that Milan failed to sign him but I do care Milan signed back Boriello (keep thinking why this can happen :noevil2:).

I really hope Galliani has something in his brain regarding Boriello's situation (that he will sell Boriello to other club hopefully).

but I do think Amauri is overrated player.
He is overrated, indeed.
I'm not talking about his qualities because i don't think people rate him as high as they rate Drogba or Eto'o or other similar players. I believe people are fair when they describe Amauri and his good/bad things. He is a very very good forward, who has great technique, scores some beautiful goals and who's great in the air, but he lacks something the other top strikers have.

But if we talk about his price then he's certainly overrated. I mean, almost 23m euro. That price tag is sick.
Yeah, i know that it's very hard to find good attackers and they are always the most expensive ones, but the market for attackers is getting crazy and every attacker out there is overpriced.

I know you guys here love to criticize your board, but you must understand how hard it is to find a top attacker. Juve payed 23m for Amauri, who can easily find himself on the bench (ok, they didn't pay 23m, but they payed 12m+players, but nevertheless the total is 23m). Milan need a first team striker, a great one, and there aren't many top attackers out there. There are only few and most of them aren't for sale.
You had to pay 24m for Gila and 20m for Oliveira (including Vogel) and you got burnt.
Now you can't find an attacker who costs less than 20m eur, while the best ones cost 30-40m. (Adebayor's price is 40m ??? what are they thinking? )
I can understand the Milan fans and their wishes for top class striker but i can also understand your board for being careful.

FIORENTINA, Mutu is on the market, Milan want him too
07.06.2008 00.00 by Marco Gori read 5

The salary augmentation required by Adrian Mutu to Fiorentina is pratically a request of leaving the club; the rumanian star has always declared that money is not important for him but probbaly things have changed, expecially after he seems to have lost the 12 million Euros lawsuit against Chelsea. In any case, after the player's agent has asked Fiorentina to rise Mutu's salary up to 4 million Euros per year, SportS Director Pantaleo Corvino has already made an evaluation for the player: between 25 and 30 million Euros; probably behind the player's attitude there is already a negotiation with another club, probably from Germany, but a transfer to AC Milan, that could offer 15 millions plus Brocchi or Bonera, is also a possibility.

I dont really agree with the idea of signing Mutu as news said. He is a support striker who I think can't play well Seedorf's position (behind a striker) when Milan need to play 1-striker formation.

I do think that we need a player who can play Seedorf's position and a big central forward. They are : Ronaldinho and Drogba/Gomez. :D

I agree with you NOW we have to be careful.

We got burnt because management tried to take the easy way out after Sheva left by buying Oliviera. Gila was brought in while Sheva still was here.

So when Sheva left you don't buy Oliviera to fill the void. That was when they should have bought a proven striker. Then last year they didn't want to buy Toni although he agreed to come. So he goes to the Germany to be come their leading scorer.

Now we need a number one more than ever in recent history. Every club in Europe knows it, they see how frugal we've been and now want to make sure we pay. Unbiasedly, I'd have to say I'd so the same thing to Milan.

They can be as careful as they want, just about any striker is going to be a risk, and most teams are going to want BIG $$$$$$ from us and I don't blame them.

Management has made this bed, they have to lay in it, and no one is willing to give them a blanket or a pillow.

Now they should just shell out some dough and get a WC striker before they waste anymore money on a dud!

You're right, and I'm sure Barca also feel that we're screwing them over with this R10 situation. We also made a fortune off of selling Sheva. R. Madrid don't like us because of the Kaka situation. (and maybe even the way the Ronaldo deal went down)

There must be something so wrong with this statement. How can Madrid hate us? We actually should hate Madrid, not the vise versa!

We all know how terrible Madrid's behaviour these two years regarding their boards (management) comments to media like chasing unfairly Kaka, Fabregas and the lattest is Ronaldo. Madrid almost break their relationship with ManU if Madrid's uncivilized president didnt take back his words about Ronaldo.

In short I can totally understand why other big teams play hard ball with us.

I cant understand that.

The transfer market is pure about money. Just look at Palermo's president who said that he wont deal with Milan anymore but we already saw that he wanted to deal with us to sell Amauri.

You know, I too liked Zambrotta a lot. He was a great player and we should have signed him years ago. The problem with his signing is that he is already 31 years old. For a wing back, we should understand that he probably only has 2-3 years worth of usefulness left. If we are going to sign somebody to add to this already ancient team, why would we choose another old player instead of a young one? I don't necessarily think Alves is the best RB in the world but his age fits our needs so well and he is also a great player that is good enough to wear a Milan shirt. By the way, why don't you like him? What did he ever do to you to promote such hatred toward him?

As far as your second point goes, I was just expressing myself. I know it's not going to change anything. After all, it's not like the management ever listen to what the fans say anyway. They are stuck in their own mode (whatever the hell that might be) and will not be influenced by anyone. What you have to understand, however, is that for one to forgive you and forget what you did, you actually have to stop making mistakes. If you make the same mistakes over and over and over, how can you expect others to forgive you? I was willing to forgive them, but then they give me yet another lousy mercato to remind me why I was upset to begin with. I don't know about you, but I can't forget things that easily.

At 00:00 this article appeared on goal.com :

...

So i write to goal.com telling them that Bulgarian authorities have nothing to do with Romanian league and that it was Rapid Bucarest who are next in line after Steaua because they finished 3rd while Dinamo finished 4th.
After few hours the old article disappears and i new article pops up.
Here is the new article :

...

Lol, they didn't even check before they wrote the first article.
I speak Romanian and i checked all Romanian sports newspapers and i saw the same thing everywhere. Rapid want to play CL and they're only waiting to see the result of Steaua's appeal. How did Goal.com come up with the stuff that they don't want CL, i'll never know.

I will said it again like i said it with Oddo.Zambrotta is a very good RB but he is 31, in 1 or 2 years Milan will have again problem in the place he will be used to play and then Milan will again need another new full back.So bying a full back without future is transfer without a point.I would prefer Miguel from Valencia than Zambrotta, the guy has future and the other is close to the end of is carrier.

Daniel Alves is the best RB on the world, whoever you ask wich is the best for his position everyone will say Alves not Zambrotta. Someone said he he has not won anything in international level.I will say he is part of national team of Brazil, he is only 24 and im sure he will win 1 or maybe more world cups with Brazil wich is the Best team on history of national teams.I also have to say that he is 24 years old and he has won 2 UEFA cups and 1 european super cup and he is still 24 playing in a club called Sevilla and not Milan,Juventus or Real Madrid were you can win more things every year.
He is better than Zambro we had to realise that.

Yes and when he will come we will have 2 legend backs. Alves RB 32year old and Maldini 50+!I don't believe Maldini will never retire! Wow im trhilled! :D :rotfl:

Galiani: We rule the market!

Lets say u r right and Alves is the best RB in the world.
So what? The point is that Milan never approach him even after playing against him.
I don't know why but they did not. No point getting upset over someone whom we never wanted. Or maybe u r piss that Milan should have gone after him in the first place but they didn't. So GET OVER IT.

Beside, Contra was young and won UEFA CUP too before he came to Milan, wondering where he is playing now.

So what? So we can't say that we lost the best RB and we bought their old back, we can't talk that he would be great if we had sign him first, we can't say that we all wanted him very much to be our player. We are in transfer's thread and everyone is talking about transfers, everyone wanted that player as the ideal RB of Milan and now that we saw him sign for another team what we can do?To say nothing? If we can't speak here about those things when were we can?
As for Contra, Alves won 2 times the UEFA cup and 1 european super cup.But how can you compare contra with alves? Was ever Contra supposed to be world best back? NEVER!

Was Maggio playing on the wing for Sampdoria or at RB? Basically what i'm asking is could our defence be Zambrotta, ????, Nesta, Maggio for next season?

I still think we should sign Anyukov, the Zenit St. Petersburg RB, he's the closest alternative to Alves there is, plus he'd be alot lot cheaper. I'd like to think we could get him and Zapata for around Ģ15 million in total. It's alot of money, but i think it's worth the outlay.

A possible Zambrotta, Zapata, Nesta, Anyukov back line could be very strong. We could then play Maggio further forward.

Im ok with the fact that Malkdini will paly on, its not the problem in Milan.

And Zambrotta is an excellent signing for 2 or 3 years, he will play superb football in Milan. But people are trying to say that maybe we could have bought Alves ALSO, why not? And why wouldnt people complain if they want? Or we shhould just close the thread and re-open it just after we officially sign some player?

Alves is THE BEST right back in the world, aldough, I will saay again, when zambrotta was in his last Juve days, he was even better then Alves now.

And that player from Zenith - he is less expencive becouse he has far less quality!!

Milan has done good job with Flamini and Zambrotta, but to claim that Abbiatti and Boriello are good transfers is insanity.

P.S.

Cassano is kicking ass in Italia training camp, the man plays like in the old days. Which is not strange becouse he is top class player.

ALso, Im surprised noone mentioned that Milan ( Galliani ) apparently had face to face deal with Eto'o and that now Milan will negotiate with Barcelona for him.

If Milan sign Eto'o, the strategy changes and we loose the "taret man", but we will have probably the fastest trident up front in the world: KAka'-Eto'o-Pato. Which can be suefull exploiting WIDE areas which we failed during this whole season.

Eto is a world class striker, for me it would be a dream to sign him.I think he would be the ideal striker for Milan.
Imagine if we loose him and inter sign him what an attacking duo he would make with Zlatan..............it would be the best duo attack on the world.

BRAIDA: "No a Moutinho e Veloso"

Braida said for Port paper that we are not interested in Velso and Moutinho but 2 days ago Velsoīs agent said that they have metting with Milan...

We don't know if it is true for Eto'o (why they would say to medias we are negociating with him ? To let other clubs stealing him ?) but there's something I'd like to know before we say if it is a good thing or a bad thing: what about his problem with justice ?? Because if we buy Eto'o and in 3 months he has to go in jail ... umh lol, that wouldn't be very smart.

For Cassano, he's back to his old days in football but also mentally, I'll never understand that guy, there is something missing in his brain ...
He could be one of the best strikers in world, easily in Top 3 (I remember some of his matches when he was in Roma) nowadays but he's one of the most stupid football players too, it's sad.

Haha, thanks for the kind words, but, as mentioned, i'm not a Milan fan.

Hey there. I haven't seen you for a long time.
Maggio didn't play RB at all, actually he played as an attacking midfielder, covering the right side. 8 goals and 9 assists (or 9+8, i don't remember) for him this season, only in serie A. No RB can do that :)
He didn't play defense at all this season, but since his original position is RB then maybe he can be a good wingback.

Udinese rejected a € 12M bid for Zapata from Arsenal.... so it is unlikely we get both for Ģ 15M (~€ 18M)...

The only one here being childish is you with your baseless statements and wild accusations. Probably when your seeds drop you can explain what Alves has done that was so wrong? Be THE BEST FULLBACK IN THE WORLD? Be freakishly fast? Take good freekicks? Decent crosser :dontkn:
Not only this, Dru...Alves brother is classmate of my cousin in a College here in Brazil, and if people knew the things this player and his family had faced years ago, when Alves was still a kid(and very poor), they would be ashamed to do this statements and wild accusations about this player...

Mercato off topic, but Alves topic:
I was born in a city(Petrolina) that it is in the front of Alves city(Juazeiro)...they are just separate for a big bridge(and a river), and I can say itīs hard to be born in a family with problems(poverty) in our region. I was luck, my family didnīt have the same problems, and Alves has all my respect for to have win in this life, cuz I know itīs hard coming of where it comes.

I heard several of his brother stories...as when his father left for the city of Juazeiro(Alves liveed in the agricultural zone) early morning to sell the little that he obtained of his onion plantation(itīs hard to be a little agriculturist in a barren ground, with a climate of 40°C and without money to work with irrigation), to earn some money and bring back food for the family lunch...yes, his brother said they didnīt have food in the house that day, and as his father only come back one day later, it was a 2 day without nothing to eat.

His brother tell it was hard for him, but said Alves was always smiling, talking to him to not worry, that he(Alves) would be a great football player in the future, and they would not have the same problems with food or money in the future. Also, said to his young brother to close the eyes and just think about every good thing he wanted in the future, that he(Alves) would give it to him...and as his brother said, this helped it to forget the hunger.

His brother said more heart touching stories, but they are long and off topic to be posted here, but this quote of Palop(Sevilla GK) I read today in Diario Sport shows a lot about the type of professional Alves is:
http://www.sport.es/default.asp?idpublicacio_PK=44&idioma=CAS&idtipusrecurs_PK=7&idnoticia_PK=516734
“Pocos laterales hay en el mundo tan completos como él. Es incansable como demuetsra el hecho de que tras los partidos se entrena con los suplentes para hacer más horas. No le duele sacrificarse por el equipo y le encanta el trabajo físico”.
For the ones that donīt know spanish, Palop is saying Alves is untiring, and after the games, he train with the substitutes to have more hours of pratices...maybe this explaing why he was the only one to play all Sevilla games(Spanish Cup, La Liga and UEFA Cup) in a season without any injure.

Sure Alves isnīt more a reality for us, but thereīs no need to the unfair statments and lack of respect showed against this amazing player(and person). At least for me... cuz I really wanted to see Alves(the best RB in the world) in the right and Zambro at left in a Milan game:sob:

Brasiliero, how did Pato play against Venezuela ( if Im not wrong ), 0:2 it was?

P.S.

also, I would like to say this, after I seem to realised it: Galliani had a signing of Buffon - Berlusconi didnt want to pay 40mln, he ahd Toni last summer - money didnt come from Silvio, he had Ribery - money didnt come. Now he claims he has Ronaldinho - Silvio doesnt want to pay more then 15mln, ysesterday Bronzetti said Milan has spoken to Eto'o and its all ok, not its time to talk to Barcelona...Im also sure Milan and Adebayor have an agreement as well...

So, mr. Berlusconi should start and invest some money for at least one normal transfer.

Also, sorry for the double post, Kenyon is in Milano. It is ugested that Drogba will play for Inter, along with Quaresma and Deco soon. We have made a great mistake in not doing all we can to sign Mourinho as our coach, he couldnt express all of his coaching talent in Chalski and with aBramovic on his kneck, like he did in Porto.

Right now we need 4 or 5 very good palyers to be at the same level as inter is squad wise, and Im not pleased to see what is happening with premier of the country not wanting to invest normally. Do not forget that if Inter wins next year that will be their 17th scudetto! Which is an equal to our number.

Of course, we need to llok at our own squad first and then fight untill the end, and that is why I claim we need to invest properly untill the end of the summer.
------------------------------------

EURO: Marek once again showed he cannot paly LB at the highest level we need. From 7 crosses 6 were wrong, his man needed to duplicate on him to close Behrami, he made only classical simple passes and so on...he lost the touch Im afraid.
-----------------------------------------

more, since Im up early as I cant sleep as Croatia plays today ( even without Eduardo which means we can score from corners only! :( )

Carlo said he will only betray Milan for Roma ( jokingly ), nd that Aquilani is an extraordinary player but that we are great in midsfield. I would like to says that this isnt true! About our Midfield: We have 5 ( five ) pure defensive midfielders ( Gattuso, Ambrosini, Flamini, Brocchi, emerson ), one creative deep lying midfielder ( Pirlo ), one worlds best palyer - Ricky and one palyer that is NOT capable of playing whole season at top level - Seedorf. NOT ABLE TO simply, buring to long career, its normal. Yoan is in Bordoux now.

Milan needs one more attacking creative midfielder who would add a moment of pace in our midfield, player like Ronaldinho, Nasri, Diego, Quaresma, Moutinho(?) nad so on...noone talks about this but our team cannot rely on Seedorf and ask him to play 45 games par season anymore, its obvious. that hurts Seedorf, hurts Kaka', hurts our paly in general. Its unprofessional and we need one more player in there. Yoan was ment to be that but he failed and it hurt us in rotation plans.

1. I am not impressed by drogba, he is not going to get better at his age. There are better players out there.

2. Deco is finished as a player, can only be a bit part player in a big team, nothing more.

3. Quaresma? Interesting but i have heard his name since he was 18 but he has not make it big 7 years from then. Is he ready for the big time? And he will cost a bomb if porto's president is to be believed.

All these are not players i think milan need so they can go to inter milan for all i care. Mourinho's tactics is so simple, pack a bus in front of goal and wait for opponents to make a mistake. Ancelotti used to make the team play likewise and i remember many people were so critical of him so why people still want a get a coach like that? I don't like his style and hope he stay far away from milan.

We really need to buy wisely now. For example, a player like moutinho would be useful in our squad now as he can learn from pirlo and be the next pirlo. On the other hand, i don't think a DM like velso is a priority for our team.

Like you, i wise we can have a better player than janku on the wings but let see how it work out for now.

Milan derby for Ferrari?
Sunday 8 June, 2008

Roma defender Matteo Ferrari is edging towards a move to Milan, but there are rumours that Inter are also in the frame.

Ferrari’s deal at the Stadio Olimpico expires at the end of the month and the 29-year-old has refused to sign a contract extension with the Giallorossi.

Agent Gianni Corci has been keen to stress that his first priority is trying to find an agreement with the capital club, but it seems almost inevitable now that the former Everton man will leave on a free transfer.

According to Il Romanista, Milan are eyeing Ferrari as a possible replacement for Croatian international Dario Simic, who is headed for the San Siro exit.

The player is said to have his heart set on wearing the Rossoneri shirt and would accept a pay cut to join the world champions’ ranks, where he would provide much-needed defensive cover.

However, there are whispers that Inter may step in and beat their city rivals to the punch.

After last term’s injury crises, the Italian champions will be looking to ensure they have greater strength in depth at the back and may see Ferrari as a cheap addition.

Fiorentina were also believed to be keeping an eye on the former Parma man, but they have more pressing targets.

----------------------------------------

I can really see Galliani following this one through. Yet another mediocre player coming to Milan.

I can really see Galliani following this one through. Yet another mediocre player coming to Milan.

Nothing in this world is free. We will pay him wages and signing him will probably mean we wont sign the kind of quality we really need.

Nasri i think would be a good buy. Thats the thing about Aquilani. If he comes up i think we should make a bid even if it means Losing Borriello and Jankulovski in return. I dont believe we will have brocchi and Emerson next season. I hope Brocchi will be included in the deal for Maggio or even Mutu if the rumours are semi true..

I don't know what to say. How is signing Mourinho going to help Milan? Let alone that other team anti-italian team in milan"? I shrug my shoulders at the guy. He won Chelsea NOTHING European wise... his last European trophy was with Porto. He has a big mouth... and I do not like his tactics.

I think Milan needs another forward... we have enough creativity in the midfield as it stands. We need a good solid forward.. like Mario Gomez... and Seedorf can produce consistently good results... he's not that old. And he has a lot of fight in him.

Inter won't be winning the Scudetto next season because we saw how their team is. It's just one big fight waiting to happen... Materazzi seemingly does not get along with anyone... Mourinho? What difference is that going to make?

Am I the only one who seems to think that Mourinho isn't all what he stacks up to be?

i must agree with mrki ... in our 4-3-1-2 or 4-3-2-1 ... kaka has no replacement and so we need a player to cover up for seedorf and rest kaka ... but i don't agree it will be moutinho because although he is young and skillfull he doesn't have the same stamina nor balance like seedorf so a player like diego or R10 will be more appealing ... another thing is that ferrari will not and can't be a starter and we need a starter to replace kaladze so zapata is a more reasonable choice although the fee is higher (to sign him) . so we are again defining our targets :
1) GK ... BORUC / FREY??
2) CB ... ZAPATA/ MEXES
3) LB ... BEHRAMY??? / PASQUAL??? / GRIMI?????????
4) CM/OMF ... R10/ DIEGO
5) CF ... NOT ETOO ... GOMEZZZZZZ / KURANYE/ DROGBA
5 players for ~90 million pounds .. its good!!!!

2) Zapata as Braida's choice
3) Pasqual is in Udinese now, our choice could be Sagnol in the end, I wouldnt be surprised at all.
4) only Ronaldinho is on my mind for that role. For real, the rest is a second choice.
5) Drogba, Adebayor, Eto'o - I dont care.

I read about Galliani in talks with Drogba, but personally for me he's not the first choice. I still want Gomez, and I think Eto'o is also a good choice (Adebayor also seems out of the picture now). Drogba's an excellent player, but at his age, and his injury problems I'm hesitant how much we can hope from him.

Realistically, I don't think we need too much. Abbiati looks set to be our first choice keeper next season. Though far from my first choice, he's a pretty solid keeper with brilliant reflexes. If he can add stability (and offering confidence like in his early years) then he'll be excellent for us.

We've bought one fullback of quality and that's the bare minimum we need. I have great confidence in Bonera after this season and feel he's ready to step up once and for all. If not we still have Zambro and Oddo for RB. At LB we have numerous options with Zambro at the top, so I have few worries.

Centre defence is an area I really think we need to invest in. A top level defender for a long term solution is important for me. I have little confidence in Kaladze ever becoming what was hoped of him and Bonera's really the only other option we have that has more than the odd year left in him (ala Maldini). Zapata is ideal as he's young and showing fantastic promise in Udinese.

Midfield could do with one more attacking threat. It doesn't have to be a star though, as I don't think we'll try to rely on Seedorf so much next year (thus adding a great option to the squad). Someone like Abate or even Maggio (a RB, but realistically plays as a right winger), who can influence from wide areas are fantastic options.

Eseentially, to complete the mercato I think we need a star forward (preferably with a long future), a good attacking midfielder for the squad and a long term prospect in defence.

apparently we have resigned Antonini from Empoli. Nearly offical, acmilan say galliani has a deal to bring him back.

And that player from Zenith - he is less expencive becouse he has far less quality!!

Far less quality? I hardly think so. Just because he doesn't play in a fashionable league, isn't Brazilian and has little hype around him doesn't mean he's a poor player. He's solid defensively and is very attacking (and good at attacking too), just because he's not your idol Alves or Srna doesn't make him a bad player.

I stand by my notion that he'd be a good addition to our squad.

Gio-Mania, i said around Ģ15 million, not Ģ15 million exactly.

Not a polite way to talk to me. My "idol" Alves or Srna? What the f...? I have discussed that Alves is the best option for Rb as he is the best Rb in the world, and Brasiliero and Drucurl have agreed...so he is their's idol as well...

Srna? I can understand you are frustrated for some reason, but I never mentioned Srna in this mercato thread.

And that player has FAR, yes - FAR, less quality then Alves, which is obvious. that is why Alves has signed for 32 mln for Barcelona and he is in Zenith. Lets not lie to ourselves.

Jim, the problem with players coming from the Russian league is of different nature. As you correctly said, there are players in these ex-USSR leauges who have enormous quality but the fact that they play in not attractive leagues that noone watches, makes them underrated.
But even though they're underrated, their prices are still sky high.

In last 5 years some of the world's richest people bought some eastern european teams and they invested more money than Berlusconi or the Elkans invested in Milan and Juve in the same time period.
The wages they offer to their players are unbelievable. Mrki knows that Darijo Srna has the quality to play in every single team in western Europe and yet he's not leaving Shakhtar Donieck. Why is that ? Because none of Barcelona, Milan or Manchester United will pay him the wages the Ukrainians are paying him.
It's two years already since me and Oksana talked about Arshavin here. Some were sceptical and tought we're overhyping the anonimous Russian but this year in UEFA we've seen that the guy is real gold. Why a playmaker of such quality plays in Russia and not in Liverpool, Juve or Inter ? Because these teams we'll never pay him not even 50% of the wages the owners of Zenit are paying him.

If Shevchenko was some 10 years younger and he started his career sometime in last 2-3 years, it would have been close to impossible for Milan to buy him.

The only way to buy these players is if the players themselves want to leave and lose their wages. Like it was with Škrtel. He was getting much more money in Zenit than he is making now in Liverpool but it was his choice to give up on the big wages and that's the only reason why Liverpool got him at the end.
And who knew Škrtel before he went to Pool ? How many knew Vidić before he went to ManUtd ?
These guys could have easily kept their high wages, they could have kept playing in Russia and stay anonimous. But they decided to take a risk, to play for less money and at the end the risk payed up and the world did see that there are top quality players in Russian or Ukrainian league.

Mrki, signing a 32 million(euro or pound or w/e) doesnt mean he's the best player in the world :wallbang:

yes, I admit, he's a good "RB", but he certainly isnt the best out-there...

I also believe Zambrotta is a better choice for us, even tho its not a long-term signing...

moving on to another topic... Milan does need a new CB alongside Nesta as indeed, Kaladze has lost his form (this season atleast) and he cost us more goals than he saved us...

isnt it better (if we dont buy a new CB) if Bonera plays with Nesta as CB and Zambrotta+Janku(ye ye, he's not good w/e, but in the euro08 it was his first match in a while... besides, do you prefer Favalli ? :D) on the flanks?:rollani:

And i just want to add that Škrtel and Vidić aren't Russian and it was easier for them to leave.
It's much harder to buy Russians. They play at home, in their own country, they are highly popular among their own people and they are getting payed much more than they will be in western Europe.
Noone is fool enough to leave all this behind.
Like with the Italians in the past or the English now. Why leave home and big money for some foreign country and less money ?
That's why it will be hard to buy Anyukov, Jim :)

Seems u r a gambler payne...I wouldn't trade Carlo, with his winning record @ Milan for n e one at present.

I need to see Carlo fail with a truly world class team (in every position on the pitch) before I would say: yeah let's try so and so....

Not to say that Spaletti is a "so and so" :D he is an excellent coach, with a nice brand of attacking, flowing football, and indeed, I would consider him for Milan if Carlo were to leave...but Donadoni or another ex-Milan player (Rijkaard, MVB) would be favoured more by Berlu et al.

Plus, I am anxious to see Carlo managing a "full deck" of first-class players, as I think he will impress....and big time.

Chelski under Mourinho held us, or beat us a narrow 1-0 in some pre-season games back in the day...and I didn't think Carlo was "out-coached" at all...even if those were jus pre-season games.

This summer's friendlies (since I am on that note) TIM tournament, Berlu trophy etc, will be eagerly perused by urs truly...as they can be a snapshot of the forthcoming season (or not) :D

We have palyed our best football under Carlo with Rui-Kaka'-Sheva tridente. With Pippo, Tomasson etc...Seedorf. Without strong and powerfull forward.

Barcelona has played brilliant football with Ronaldinho-Eto'o-Guly/messi.

From what I can "see" an attack consisting of Kaka'-Eto'o-Pato would be extremly flexible position wise, and the fastest tridente in the world.

its a tactical question or attacking variations, but I think we need to choose our forward carefully as the rest of the setup will depend of it, and not slightly.

I will stay with my statemant that Dani Alves is the world's best right back, and the price Barcelona payed for him does not have anything to do with my statemant as I've said it way before this transfer happened. Simply, from what I can see from him I cannot see from any other player in that position, except from young zambrotta ( which is past ).

Zambrto is an EXCEKLLENT purchase by Milan, no doubt dough, my dream transfer. But we were talking about Alves, and I stand by the claim that HE is the best right back in the world.

Now Im off to the pub with my friends, Croatia plays in 2 hours!!

P.S.

What Tony29 said about Srna is 100% true. Absolutely a player that can play in top clubs, and would even improve more there, but that could be an minus of ambition or a greed for money...I dont know. Shame dough, he is a good palyer with spectacular crosses and fighting spirit. ( not a natural fullabck dough, cant defend as he should be ).

Barcelona bought a player for years and years to come, of TOP quality and unique carectaristics. We will play on the right side with Messi...
:eekani:

Yep, Messi and Alves will be scary...Btw, people puting Alves and Contra in the same sentence just because both won UEFA Cup must be joking...Alves won the titles being the MVP of the UEFA Cup, and MVP of the finals...tell me one RB name that was chosen MVP of a BIG tournament?? This is what makes Alves unique as you said...heīs a playmaker, and as Sevilla coach(Manolo Jimenez) said yesterday, heīs a Rb you can build a team around, because he organize a entire offense(but also can defend).

Regarding Pato against Venezuela: imo the boy was one of the best of the first-half(Brazil played poorly). He did some kakáīs runs pasting for several players and was always a threat with the ball on his feet...Pato was better than Adriano, but the dumb Dunga take him off after the first half::rollani:
Itīs incredible how brazilian media is hyping Adriano for nothing. He was poor against Venezuela and Canada, but was given more chances than Pato:rollani:
Thank God Luis Fabiano come back for the games against Paraguai and Argentina!!

On a side note, against Venezuela Anderson played at the famous "Seedorfīs role" at the left of Brazilīs midfield and not as a DM like in Manchester...and after to see he playing, Iīm still more convinced Anderson was the only one capable of to play like Seedorf...with that amazing combination of power and skills. Itīs a shame SAF is playing him only as a DM...

BTW, can someone describe this player for the ones that never saw a game...

I canīt see a young AMD wanting to be a Kakaīs backup. Kaká is a monster and play most of the games, so I canīt see young guys like Moutinho and Diego coming to be a backup in the most of the game...who knows?!?!

Why am i frustrated? Could you explain that to me.

So you're saying that any player that doesn't sign for a club like Barcelona and for a price of around 32 million that they must be low in quality? Srna is at Shaktar Donetsk and doesn't look like leaving for a figure of that amount, so he must be of Far, yes - Far, less quality than Alves. Your logic, not mine.

Jeff, i don't get why Channel 4 or Calciomercato are bad sources (in terms of reliability) for news and Gazetta/Corriere are ok sources for news. The former just take their articles from the latter.

Tony29, is it true that the clubs you mentioned in your previous two posts pay more money than clubs like Inter, Liverpool, MU?

I still doubt it. Can you post their wages (like Vidic, Skartel, etc) with russian clubs or other clubs in countries you mentioned?

BTW, can someone describe this player for the ones that never saw a game...http://www.goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=727810

A Milan youth system LB who has been out on loan for many years at various clubs. He's a pretty decent player but nothing outstanding, though his attacking contribution is usually quite good. He impressed against us earlier this year, which is probably why we brought him back.

Essentially, looks like Vargas definitely won't come. More so my fear is the thought in the club is right now that Zambro will be RB and Janku LB. I much rather hope to see Bonera on the right and Zambro down the left.

We have palyed our best football under Carlo with Rui-Kaka'-Sheva tridente. With Pippo, Tomasson etc...Seedorf. Without strong and powerfull forward.

When did we ever really play Sheva-Rui-Kaka?

He is 25 years old but still he is owned by Milan, how could it be? Do Milan always renew his contract and he accepts it even he never plays for Milan?

I am often confused about the ownership of primavera players in Italy. They are owned by their primavera clubs for many years (not just 2-3 years).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I suppose calciomercato comes up with their own news pretty often while Gazetta/Corriere did not?

I agree that Channel4 doesn't fabricate as much.

The goal of the signature is to raise people's awareness that not all sources are reliable.

well, not only a back up as he should play uefa cup games, in order to give kaka a rest, as i dont want him to end up like last season, and in coppa italia, and he can also get the start against lower position teams, what i mean is we need to incoporate a better rotational system, as that one of the reasons gourcuff left, he want getting game. look at barca, the got both gio and bojan in rotation, and even madrid got Higuain in there games.

Plus im sure there will be sometimes we go back to 4-3-2-1, and in that case moutinho can be a starter.

Antonini is back at LB, from the games I seen, he is pretty good, and since Italian players are usually late boomers, I am hoping he is also a late boomer too.

Whenever I've seen Antonini play for Empoli I'm pretty impressed. While most of the Empoli team did not defend well, he usually tried his best, and his performances are rather impressive. AC Milan lends out youth players to gain experience. Sometimes it takes longer for some players, but whatever it takes. Yes, most Italian players are late bloomers... like Luca Toni for example.

I think Antonini is a very impressive player to bring back and he can contribute greatly to the team.

My remaining list: Christian Zapata, Oscar Ustari, Mario Gomez... but Drogba seems to be more likely now.

Zapata has to be a must, as is great GK and a good all round forward. That would leave us with needing to get a player who can take Seedorf/Kaka's role when they are rested.

Ha! ha! ha! this sounds normal to us but Mr Galliani said wehave made the best transfers "we took back Borriello and Abbiati" so go along Abbiati who is worst than Dida and only Borrielo for in front...

Thanks Giancarlo...I don't usually have opportunity to see how some of our loaned players perform, and I am always glad for the info.

I vehemently disagree with you on that one. Abbiati is a pretty solid keeper, and I think he's more suited for Milan... he had some mistakes at Atletico, but all in all most of his games there were pretty good. I don't think he's worse than Dida in any sense. And there are negotiations for another forward going as we speak.

We do have an active transfer season. I've counted five players brought into Milans ranks...

Borriello (who is a pretty good striker and I think a late bloomer), Abbiati (I think he's a great goalkeeper), Zambrotta (great player), Antonini (solid as I said), Flamini (we'll see, I think this kid has a great of talent)...

We've also sold Gilardino who was doing nothing for us. Ibrahim Ba, Serginho, Cafu and Fiori retired.

I think we are reshuffling our ranks. And I think Galliani is making all the right moves. He's making the correct decisions, and I think he still has some more players on mind. Antonini was a good start to reinforce the left area now that Serginho is gone. Just three or four more players and we're all set. As I said, one more defender, one or two more strikers, and another goalkeeper.

And yes I do agree that we need a young talented 2nd string goalkeeper... and Dida has to be released. I think if Dida goes back to Brazil to play for Palmerias or Flamengo he should gain some of his form back.

My list of keepers for second string: Heurleho Gomes (he's not that young, but he's great, plays for PSV), Oscar Ustari (21 year Argentine Getafe keeper), Juan Pablo Carrizo (his impressive performances have saved a less than impressive River Plate defense numerous times), Davide Bassi (plays for Empoli, and played in the U-21 Toulon Tournament helping Italy win the trophy... very impressive)...

Pretty much yes, we keep him on our cards as with many young players. Big clubs often loan out (or sell half the contract) young talents to smaller teams to see how they develop. If successful and useful, the players return to their parent club (either from loan or for a negotiated amount/blind bids), otherwise they'll get sold off (if there's not really any hope left).

Essentially, this is what's happened with Antonini. He's always been a possible player for Milan, but until now he's never quite shown enough to earn a place back in Milan and he wasn't needed at the club. Therefore, Milan let him continue to ply his trade elsewhere until the management felt confident he'd be an asset to the club and he was needed.

Same sort of situation has occurred with Borriello and Abbiati.

Indeed, and it also must be noted that Antonini went through seven or eight different teams (you can see this on wikipedia)... he has a lot of experience for a 25 year old. It took him like 6 or 7 years to gain the experience needed to come back to Milan...
