Anyway, Giovanni mentioned we would play 4-2-3-1... HOW?
Gio was picking up on Ancelotti's comments about Ronaldinho. Carlo basically said that Ronaldinho is half striker half trequartista and that we could use 2 formations with him, the christmas tree and the 4-2-3-1 system with wingers.
Thing is he was viewing Ronaldinho as the trequartista with wingers either side of him rather than Kaka as the trequartista and Ronaldinho as a winger.
Either way, it's good to see he's positive about this formation and thinking about changing our approach.
Guys, you all speak about Adebayor but don't want Eto'o ?!
Adebayor doesn't miss 3-4 occasions per match, he misses 6-7 occasions per match !! lol he has to improve a lot in his finishing skills, a lot more than Eto'o ...
You're right, Adebayor does miss chances like Eto'o but he has more plus points to his game. He's better in the air, has better ball control (some of the passes Eto'o made against Man Utd were shocking, he kept thumping the ball for a 5 yard pass) and is stronger.
To be honest i wouldn't care how many chances he'd miss if he ended up scoring 25+ league goals a season.

Don't take that MU-Barca match like a reference match, each Barca players, except Messi, was very bad in this match.
Anyway, your last part (if he scores ...) is exactly what I think about Eto'o lol ... and what I said for him in a previous post.
Both Adebayor and Eto'o will have to change their mind (be a real part of the team, not guys with conflicts) if they come to Milan ...
mrki, there's something I don't understand, don't we already play that kind of formation (more 4-2-1-2-1) ?? Or maybe it is the one Ancelotti wants us to play but that the guys don't play this season ??
.
I have nly seen Milan play with pirlo free in the middle few times this year. For example, we played like that at Firenza when emerson steped in and Pirlo was pushed more forward, and it worked well. Few times also in San Siro when we were behind..
But most of the time Pirlo was sitting in the lap of Nesta and Kaladze, and that is not positive for his football. Pirlo is really usefull when he has some freedom in the middle, but is this Milan side witout normall fullbacks Pirlo also needs to defend a lot. And without fullback runs and with Seedorf walking around Pirlo is easy to block and so on...
------------------------------------------
About that 4-5-1 formation: Nothing will change, it will be like when we palyed with Rui and Kaka' together. Only KAka' will play deeper role 8 WHICH SUITS HIM BETTER ) and ronaldinho will play more forward with CF. My guess...
Yes but I think that Ancelotti would like Pirlo to play more forward in the midfield, it's simply because he can't do it ... because of the poor season of both Ambro and Gattuso (and of course, like they did not so good, Pirlo didn't do well too).
So I'm happy, you cleared one of your points against Ancelotti (you said someday on this forum that Pirlo would play better if Lippi was our coach instead of Ancelotti because he would put him in this position, but it's exactly what Ancelotti would want to do).

Im not sure if we can compare Flamini with the tipe of Lampard, Ballack, players that also create a lot. I've seen some great through passes by Flamini and some good skills, but aguess I havent seen him enough. Geo Tav you are French, you should know better about Flamini.
Anyway, Giovanni mentioned we would play 4-2-3-1... HOW?
-------------Gattuso-------Flamini------------
---------------------pirlo--------
------------kaka'----------Ronaldinho-----
-------------------Pato------------
Is that it? That is the way Lippi used Pirlo ( again I talk about it, but that was the best Pirlo we saw...). with Flamini we would have faster transition then we have with AMbro, who is actually pretty slow in that part of a game.
I guess it'd be
---------Gattuso--------Flamini
--Pato----------Kakà------Ronaldinho
---------------First striker
The problem with this formation is that those 3 players between the lines (opposite defence and midfield) must cover in the defensive phase.
Liverpool use that formation, but in Gerrard, Kuyt and Babel they have three players that run and defend like fools. I doubt it can be used more than a few times, obviously when we miss Pirlo.
Having Pirlo in and one between Gattuso or Flamini out isn't doable, IMO. Too less covering in the middle.

this is impossible in a serious game. This team cant defend at all. Ronaldinho, Kaka', Pato cannot play well in defensive faze.
Liverpool has Kuyt and Babbel to defend, and those two players are workers, not like Dinho,Kaka',Pato. Also in Chelsea Kalou and J.Cole defend superbly. Yesterday Joe Cole was the man that run most miles in Chelsea team, KAka' and Dinho cannot fufill that kind of roles.
to conclude: to play Kaka', Pato, Ronaldinho and one striker at the same time is impossible against strong midfields. Even if we play Kaka'-Ronaldinho-Pato 8 with Pirlo in midfield of course ) we need to have in mind that we have 3 players that cant defend at all and one midfielder that is pure fantasista. That is why the key to our season will be rock solid defence with no week links, which means new GK, one CB and 2 fullbacks...or some kind of super bonera on the right. In my oppinion.
Geo, about Carlo vs Lippi ( Pirlo issue ), we will see next year, but the fact that for Italy we see another Pirlo surely means something.

I agree with you mrki, but Carlo himself said it. I think this is the most reasonable 4-2-3-1 line up possible.
Maybe having two defensive fullbacks that don't go foward (therefore 6 defensive players out of 11) , we can play that way.
Zambrotta is a fullback that is rock solid defensively wise, so is Nesta. We only lack 3 more great players at the back :)

I feel for fiorentina. What were they doing playing Christian Vieri. He lost them the game..
Geo, about Carlo vs Lippi ( Pirlo issue ), we will see next year, but the fact that for Italy we see another Pirlo surely means something.
Yeah, that means that the players around Pirlo are different ... instead of Ambrosini who can be very good, you have De Rossi who can be excellent.
The whole team is different: Italy of Lippi actually played with 2 formations, one in offensive phases, one in defensive phases ... it's the main difference, the guys in Italian national team are more versatile than the ones we have in our team. Don't think I'm true ? Look at this formation (the WC final !! Youhouuuuu)
GB 1 Gianluigi Buffon
ArD 19 Gianluca Zambrotta
DC 5 Fabio Cannavaro (c)
DC 23 Marco Materazzi
ArG 3 Fabio Grosso
MDf 8 Gennaro Gattuso
MDf 21 Andrea Pirlo
MD 16 Mauro Camoranesi
MG 20 Simone Perrotta
AT 10 Francesco Totti
AC 9 Luca Toni
A kind of 4-4-2 with Perrota and Camoranesi on the wings, but in defensive phases, Perrota comes back to defend, Camoranesi a bit less but tried.
And when you say that Pirlo can't play with only Gattuso, it's not true, he can and must play with Gattuso lol, it's the others players who have to adapt ...
There is nothing wrong with being versatile. The 4-2-3-1 formation mentioned by Gio and Mrki can be very useful when playing so-called "smaller teams" when we need to attack and break the deadlock. For bigger games where we have to be more cautious (CL games) we can always revert to the usual 4-3-2-1 with an extra defensive midfielder. If anything, the versatility of R10 and Pato will only make us less predictable and add more options to our line-up.

Im not saying that Pirlo cant play with only Gattuso...where did I say that? What does it even mean?? irlo needs 2 strong players around him, he has Perotta and De Rossi in Italia, but somehow Ambro and Rino do not perform well enough for him at Milan becouse technically Ambrosini is not as good as De Rossi.
I understand Italian Nt team is stronger then Milan, but Pirlo needs to be played differently even now at Milan. We'll see next year with some players arriving which role Pirlo will take.

Most of Pirlo's best games was with Gattuso and Seedorf. Our problems this year have been far deeper than our midfield.

Yes, with Maldini to his left and CAFU to his right. And Nesta+Billy at the back. Pirlo is not a normal midfield player, we can have a lot of problems with him and also a lot of unbelievable sucsess from his brilliant moves.
New fullbacks would improve Pirlo's play by far, it soundsa strange but it seems true to me.

It's not strange, Pirlo needs players to move into positions to give him options to pass. Seedorf used to do a little more, Cafu and Maldini used to be good outlets but with the whole team slowing down Pirlo has less options other than to play up to Kaka or Pato.
Pazzini to Genova - 0% chance...
Pazzini is a great forward, Prandelli did with him same thing he did with Gila at Parma, made him score tons of goals. I wouldnt have anything against him comeing to Milan and play with Pippo, Pato and Sheva up front.
The Frey news I like the most, he is a great GK and can help our defence a lot. As well as Zapata, from what I've heard from you guys.
Pazzini is just an average striker. When this season was about to start I made a betting with a friend of mine that Pato will score goals more than Pazzini even if he could only start from January.

There isn't much in the way of new or interesting rumours. Goal and tribal both reported that Gattuso has said no to Dinho and yes to Toni. Gattuso has a fair point, but Dinho is a step forward from Seedorf in this side, who cannot be relied on all year long. Like Seedorf, Dinho naturally plays in between the lines, but naturally wider, which could benefit Kaka who has to go wide more often himself with Seedorf.
Other rumours concern Brazilians, like Sidnei (a friend of Pato's) and Hernanes, who we're apparently looking at (usual sources of goal and tribal).
There's a pretty interesting discussion about the much touted 4-2-3-1 system. Fundamentally, I'll work from the back forward in the system (missing out the GK). In defence, we need a solid partnership in the middle. Nesta-Kala can work, we've seen it before, but ideally, Nesta should get a new partner, as Kala isn't the most reliable CB around. The fullbacks need work, as these are two of our weakest areas this year (and last) and quite honestly, neither Oddo or Janku deserve more than squad roles next season. Bonera for me has been a revelation of late and I don't see any reason why we can't possibly hope to rely on him next season. Defensively a wall (and consistent), offensively timing his runs much better with a lot of quality service of late. Even if we can't rely on him in the offensive half all year round, we will have a solid RB all year round (let's not forget in recent years we've rarely ever had two offensive fullbacks at the same time). Zambro (who looks most likely) for me is a very good offensive LB still, but at Barca he's clearly struggled to adapt (on and off the pitch) and tactically he's not well covered. I don't see any reason at this point as to why we can't get him back to how he used to be. A back four of Zambro-Kala-Nesta-Bonera looks very solid to me if I'm honest and with Kala replaced with someone better I'd say it looks superb.
Midfield is really where we'll have the biggest change, with the shape looking a little different from how it is. Most will agree it will look something like:
----------DM--------DM----------
--------------CM----------------
----AM--------------------AM----
--------------CF----------------
Key problem appears to be personnel. In DM either one or two of Rino/Flamini (I will count him in the squad)/Ambro will play. This is a must, as the player will be required to destroy attacks. The CM is essentially the playmaker, where Pirlo or Kaka (or Seedorf or Dinho or even Gourcuff) can play.
The AM's will be required to play as Kaka and Seedorf do at the moment (supporting the forward man), only they will need to be ready to push wide at regular intervals (there's nothing to say we need wingers). For Dinho, this would be natural, as he regularly moves into wide areas. Kaka or even Pato too are capable of this, meaning we have players that can go wide, just not natural wingers.
Finally, the forward can be the apparent World class powerful forward we expect or even Pato. Not mind blowing, but an interesting little statistic is 3 out of 8 of Pato's goals were scored whilst he was the lone man up front. Other goals, like the one against Livorno were scored when he essentially played alongside Pippo, rather than foiling him and there's a strong argument he should have scored more as the lone forward (e.g. against Arsenal). This to me suggests he is capable of playing as the lone striker, and I'm sure he'd relish being the focal point of the attack as long as support is good (Dinho, Kaka, Pirlo and Zambro all capable of consistently good support).
Essentially, there is no set lineup, and we have the options in every position for various situations. For example, if you want a stable midfield supporting a lone forwards play Rino/Flamini-Ambro/Flamini in DM and Pirlo in CM with Dinho and Kaka in AM. Up front if you want a powerful forward, then we play our supposed new forward, or if you want movement (like against Napoli in Pato's debut) play Pato with Dinho and Kaka supporting. If you want to be more adventerous (like against smaller sides), push Pirlo back into DM and Kaka into CM with Dinho and Pato (who will foil the forward) in AM and a lone striker. Point is we'll have the options to fiddle according to our opponents. What is important is that unlike this season, we strike a proper balance in the side and have players playing to their strengths. No more Ambro in attack or Rino trying to push forward without a clue, or Pato playing in CM or as a pure winger.
Gabriel489

I cannot agree with u more with that lineup, and come to think of it, we only need three signings up front to make our midfield and forward flexible to play against anyone. Dinho, Flamini and a power striker.
And when you add Zapata, Zambro and maybe even Vargas at the back with a solid goalie, we will be back at the top again.
Any news on Zapata to Milan over the past few days and I just read on goal.com that Real wants Vargas.
It would also be interesting to see maybe Gattuso playing on the left side covering Zambrotta ( which has happened in more then few occasions in Italy ) and Falmini ( if he comes ) on the right.
But the thing that worries me is that I saw Rino's interwiew today and he spoke about how he really wants to play in EPL becouse that stile suits him best. He looked really serious... :(
And, tacticaly wise, just to add, with more rested Seedorf we can even use him sometimes in his old role as a central midfielder in some San Siro gmeas where we need more creation in the middle and we dont need 2 DM's. Seedorf plays a lot and so loses his strenght as he is no longer in top shape / he is OLD :) dont forget that Seedorf has been playing top football since he was 16 I think !!
About forwards...Pato is supposed to be phenomenon, and I dont see him being benched for a player like Toni to play. Personally, I think that the best possible CF in the world today is Drogba, without a doubt. But it all depends on Ronaldinho: if he arrives I believe Milan could go for a player like Amauri who can rotate and not a player like Drogba/Toni who would want to play all the time.
If Ronaldinho DOESNT arrive, Milan has a need for a CREATIVE midfielder that is NOT an attacking midfielder but a central midfielder, and a strong forward.
option one:
-----------Pato/Amauri--------
---Roanldinho--Kaka'----------
----Rino---Pirlo--Flamini------
option 2:
-------Drogba/Toni---Pato-------
-----------------KAka'------------
----------New CM--Gattuso--
------------------Pirlo--------

According to Reuters Rino has apparently said he really wants to play in England as it suits his style (as mrki said). He said until now he didn't want to bring personal problems into the squad, and that discussions will take place at the end of the season. Well, he didn't want to bring personal problems into the squad yet he says this ahead of the derby
mrki I agree on Seedorf. Him being a squad player could be vital to our success as if he rotates he can be of massive importance.
I don't agree on Drogba being the best centre forward in the world, right now I'd say it's Toni for definite, and has been Toni for a few years (since he became a household name in Fiorentina). That said, these days i don't really understand why Toni is called a late bloomer, as he's been doing well in Serie A for years, and I'm pretty certain his career stats are better than Drogba's (who's no slouch himself). Toni's goal and game stats since 2001/02 are:
01/02
Appearances: 26
As Sub: 2
Goals: 13
02/03

I don't think we'll sign either Ronaldinho and Drogba or another world class striker. Amauri is going to Juve. Basically we need a powerful striker for the Serie A. I think if Ronaldinho comes, we'll sign Borriello, and put him just when needed against closed Serie A lower table teams.
The Zenit St. Petersburg right-back was pretty good against Bayern last night. Still think we should sign Arshavin, he'd be a very useful signing.
After Sheva now Rino wants to leave...nice. Seedorf again starts with super comments: “I don’t think that the Brazilian is a priority, but just one of several,” Seedorf explained.
“I would be happy if he arrived and I think that Carlo Ancelotti would find a formation that would suit him, but other players are needed.
“Would my position be under threat? I just try and put myself in the Coach’s plans, but I know that to have three strikers like Ronaldo, Alexandre Pato and Alberto Gilardino on the bench is ridiculous.
“However, I think that the understanding between myself and Kaka over the last two seasons has been important.”
???? Ronaldo and Gilardino - who?
Also, if Milan sells Gattuso in the end and brings Flamini we have done NOTHING becuose Flamini will never be a player Rino is for Milan! We need to do all we can to makeRino stay! champions leaving Milan is somthing we need to stop at all costs. Bring the right players, pick the right targets, make them happy and do not make fool out of your stars by making them play 300 games per season...
Just bring Ronaldinho and bench Clarence and we will be stronger and have more rotation options which is crucial for serie a.

Rino can want-away all he wants. The club have made it clear that no player will leave without their consent, and Carlo himself (I believe) has said that Rino wont be sold.
Storm in a tea-cup IMO....the bulldog is going no where this mercato.
i dont want rino to go, but i dont think we should prevent him from leaving if he wants to, in two years or so he maybe looking to retire (not every one plays as long as cafu and maldini), and we have to replace him them, but to me, the worse thing is to have a player, who doesnt want to be here. Besides, you were the ones complaning about the cluster @ DM.
Warro, we shouldn't keep anybody who doesn't want to be with us. I doubt this applies to Rino but I am saying just in case.
I watch a lot of Serie Games and there is one fairly young player in a small southern club that can play left winger in the midfield as well as left back. And he is the best player in Serie A on both positions.
he has the best left footed shot in the league and has technique, awesome passes, excellent crossing good dribbling, speed and to top it of he plays with a lot of heart and passion.
I really hope we pull of a surprise and bring him on in the summer.

1st is not willing to run for every lazy player in the team, he is just sick of it
2nd the captin issue, he said today that he welcome max to be the new captin but not any one else "kaka"
finally i believe that rino is very valuble to us but if he want to leave i guess milan shouldnot hold him back.
Well can anyone CLARIFY this to me : Milan are trying to sign this summer Thiago Neves, Carlo Eduardo, Fernandinho, Sidnei, Hernanes, Alex Silva I know we can't get them all but, if we get at least two of them how could this be goz they are a non-EU and in Serie A and Serie B are allowed to sign only 1 new non-EU player per year so... is diferent rules with brazilians or what...???!!

2005 right after the Istanbul disaster, the first to jump off the sinking ship was Gattuso and he announced that he was leaving Milan to the premiership.. after alot of convincing by our players and management he decided that it would be a mistake to go and he stayed..
right now we are struggling again, and surprise surprise who is the first that wants to leave, Gattuso. Here's his latest comments,
“I would like to have the chance to play in the Premier League because I think that I have the characteristics to play there,” he stressed.
“It is my dream and I have never denied that. When I leave Milan I will only wear the shirt of a foreign side. But Spain would be hard because it isn’t a League that suits the way I play.
“It would certainly be impossible to play for Inter, just as it would be to represent Celtic.”
Ofcourse, that doesnt mean anything when you just read it...but when you take into consideration that ALOT of rumours have been going on about him leaving, THIS is what he says? Instead of saying I am staying at Milan for sure or something like that, he discusses his dream to play in the EPL?
Gattuso is certainly no Maradona nor will he ever be anything close. He can't pass, can't shoot, can't cross, all he can do is run. He is one player player can certainly find a replacement for.
The saddest thing is that you guys claim Sheva is a traitor for going for his wife, and now you are all begging Gattuso to stay when this is the second time this has crossed his mind.

Jim is right, Vargas is the most loved player in this room, and deservingliy so, but i just dont see milan signing him..
As much as I dont want to see Rino leave, it might be a blessing in disguise. His type of game cannot last forever, as he ages and his physical condition drops, he will be less and less useful to the team. Happens to everyone, look at Davids for example.
Knowing Milan, we'd probably keep him and play him til he's 34 and then be forced to replace him. If he wants to go and try his luck abroad, let him go. I understand his logic, he too knows that he has no chance in the EPL when he is 34-35, so if he wants to go, now is his only chance.
So if he wants to go, let him go, we'll get a pretty nice transfer fee for him, and can invest in our next DM to play alongside Flamini next year. And believe me, Gattuso's form is not going to go up from here, esp if he has to adapt to a new team. In the end it's his loss.

What you're forgetting is that Sheva isn't even good anymore while Rino although he had a rollercoaster season still has world class performances left in him. I don't think there's even a comparison. Forget how much you liked Sheva and look at it realistically. Would YOU take a 32 year old striker who was already dropping in form since 2006 ?

Sheva when left Milan was not in the bad form. IMO he is in better form than Gattuso. Gattuso in this about 2 years are so far from the old Gattuso who has great spirit to run run and run.

@hitmannq8
I really think that fans call Sheva a traitor because Sheva has done so great and beautiful things to Milan (and of course fans) and fans did love him. He is special, more special than Gattuso. That's why people dont so care about Gattuso's leaving, not like Sheva's case IMO.
So, for me, if Gattuso goes, we can find the replacement EASILY. There are many players not just like him but also better. Players that talk about leaving in the middle of the season is just ugly players who only thinks about himself (sorry if this is rude).

you know of the starting Eleven of Milan, with the exception of the GK, Gattuso is the next in my mind to be expandable. Thus, if he wants to leave, then sell him to the highest bidder as it is not hard to find someone to replace the aging pitbull. I remember when Vogel was here, a lot of us all wanted to see Vogel instead of Gattuso in the starting 11, so let him go.
Lets sign players like Flamini, or to recall Donati or Dalla Bona or any other players that are willing to run around and chase down lose balls. I heard Diarra is available too.
Anyhow, Vargas is the guy that I really want we to sign, and I am still surprise that we have not been link with him since we are pretty much linked with everybody else.
Thats what makes me think Brida might be working in secret to sign him, I hope.
Vargas rules.
Just a follow up, you also need to understand there this is also a business, player Must go, and then some new one come in, we as fans may not always get what we want, but a times some transfers whether an sale or a buy can be a blessing in disguise as stated above in an earlier post.
With Flamini you get a young athletic DM, who hasnt even reached his prime, and yet is high rated throughout europe, and we are getting him for free, and though we do have a cluster i will admit @ DM, i think its great, but some of you just do see him being useful, saying he will never be what gattuso is to milan, I admit he wont be what gattuso is to milan, he will be Flamini.
And with Flamini, it makes it alot easier to let go of Gattuso, because as i said b4, and some others also, if he doesnt want to stay, he doesnt have to stay, dont force him, and as someone else said, we wold get a good amount for him, that could elp finance a big deal.

Gila agent invites offers Saturday 3 May, 2008
Alberto Gilardino’s agent admits he is likely to leave Milan at the end of the season. “We’ll evaluate every proposal.”
The former Parma striker moved to San Siro for £17m in the summer of 2005, but has not lived up to expectations.
“The lad has decided to only face this issue at the end of the season,” explained agent Francesco Romano on Radio Kiss Kiss.
“Together we will evaluate every proposal that comes in. Obviously Alberto is bitter at the fact he can’t find space in the side and clearly if Ronaldinho, Andriy Shevchenko and Marco Borriello were to arrive then it would all be up for debate again.
“Talking about his position now is premature, especially as at this moment Milan have not signed anyone yet.”
He scored 17 goals in 34 games the first term and 12 goals in 30 the next, but this season has just seven from 30 Serie A appearances.
Increasingly pushed aside by Alexandre Pato and the revival of Pippo Inzaghi’s form, Gilardino also has a fractious rapport with the Milan fans.
Gila has made just one appearance in the last month, as a substitute in the 3-2 defeat at Juventus, and has not scored since January 30.
There were reports that he would be included in an exchange deal with Fiorentina goalkeeper Sebastien Frey.
It would reunite the striker with Cesare Prandelli, who was his Coach during their time together at Parma.

i was hoping that he could be one of those glory names at Milan when he was arriving at the 1st time from Parma. but i think now it's better to let him go. it'll be good for Milan and also Gila if he aims for another Azzurri calls for him.

If Rino does go I wonder whether we'd push for Diarra and Flamini in the summer. Ancelotti has stated quite clearly that he's a fan of both (and Diarra he said of his own will, I don't think anyone asked him about the player), and they naturally seem like long term replacements for Rino and Ambro in the midfield. For Rino we can command a pretty high transfer fee and a massive salary is off our wage bill, so the funds from that can possibly go towards Diarra.
Gila I think is almost certain to be sold and his replacement will be the new striker.

i think selling gattusso and getting diarra will theoratically improve our style of play ..
give us more depth in the midfeild and diarra is agood passer and shooter of the ball ..
it would also allow pirlo to push more forward in his CM role without fear and diarra along with flamini and ambro as a sub will deal with the defence ... threatening the goal themselves on occasions ... however this works when you play winning eleven or fifa ... but in the real life gattuso's spirit sometimes boosts our players morale and reflects on the results ... cum'on guys i heard kaka saying he would like to play in real or arsenal WHEN he leaves ... but will we sell him ? no we won't ... i remember this christmas holiday gennaro didn't leave the club and trained very hard because he was coming back from an injury and the teams results weren't fine ... let's just keep him for another season ( or 2 .. i am quite sure that's what will happen) and then next summer i am sure we will have even better options than diarra ...
Some snippets of news:
We haven't made any bid for Alex Silva or Hernanes.
Adebayor's agent is vague about interest from clubs and there's speculation that a £17 million bid will be enough for the player.
Gattuso says if he was in charge of our transfers he'd get Toni.
While Toni is playing great, i still think Adebayor would be best for our future.
On the GK front, i personally think we should let both Dida & Kalac go and try for Frey & Schwarzer. The latter is available on a free transfer and is a great keeper. And no, i'm not just saying this because Juve are said to be after him as a backup to Buffon, i had this idea a while back.

oh! come on jim toni is on fire he will score us a couple of dozens and assist pato to a couple too and he has 2 top form years infront of him and even though adeba is for the future ... getting 2 stars from arsenal will start a rivaly we don't need ... right?shwarzer is a veeeeeeeeeery bad keeeper ... he can't catch abd he is shi* when it comes to airy chalenges ... his flop against japan in the world cup and numerous goals inthe premiere league like one robby keane scored last year after mido's assist are whitnesses of his weak abilities this year he conceded 35 goals with a defence line of young huth weater pogatetz and sometimes woodgate !!!!! ... he is a non-euro ... in addition he is 36 years old ... fiori is not far from that ...!!!!
If Rino does go I wonder whether we'd push for Diarra and Flamini in the summer.
What do you think, would Milan get Flamini and Diarra (or Diarra's calibre/price) if Gattuso left Milan?
I've reaad that Berlu want an 18-players team for next season which means to me that we have less or the same quality like the first team for backups in every position.

from all the rumours we've received on Flamini, this is one where I could take a bit more seriously than the others but still, remember what happened with Suazo? even the acmilan.com website said he was a Milan player!
Diarra is gold. I agree with Carlo he is one of the best midfielders in the world and I always was craving the thought of having him.. however he will take the Non-EU spot which means he will not come if Sheva comes. I think Sheva's arrival is more important but having Diarra in the lineup :v408: .. I guess I'm just like Uncle Silvio, I'm a romantic :D
Dinho's rumours are getting colder but I still think at the end of the day we will sign him. I'm ok with the splashing its just that as long we dont lose sight on other important objectives (Vargas, Alex, Zapata, Alves those are 4 defenders for every spot in defence that could significantly improve quality). I still think though we need an attacking creative midfielder other than Ronaldinho.. I am not too fond with Seedorf's consistency, Kaka also isnt the most consistent player in the world, and Dinho is still a question mark. Gourcuff seems like he is going to grow and reach his peak very late in his career.

I think the real sum is around 4 millions per season.
Like I said on another topic, that would make him our 2nd most paid player !!
But I think it's what we're going to have to do if we want players without playing CL (paying a lot) ... so let's go to the next CL !! lol

I'm very much speculating, and I wouldn't be confident that we'd get 2 great DM's, simply because we have to invest a lot in other areas.
Diarra is just a little bit of a dream really.
I think an 18 man squad is way too small. 23-24 is the size I can see us realistically aiming for (currently it's 29).
I hope they didn't take Flamini (hypothesis, not official) just to replace Gattuso who's going to leave (other hypothesis, nothing official too).
My thought is that Gattuso will stay, at least one more year ...
And if he leaves, why buying another DM, a guy like Montolivo would be good for a change of formation (we could play with Ambro-Flamini and Pirlo, or with Ambro or Flamini and Pirlo-Montolivo).
can anyone CLARIFY this to me : Milan are trying to sign this summer Thiago Neves, Carlo Eduardo, Fernandinho, Sidnei, Hernanes, Alex Silva I know we can't get them all but, if we get at least two of them how could this be goz they are a non-EU and in Serie A and Serie B are allowed to sign only 1 new non-EU player per year so... is diferent rules for brazilians or what...???!!

Drogba on the otherhand will take up a non-EU Spot, but with players like Serginho, Cafu and Emerson leaving, that should be okay.
Diarra is from Mali, not France... Mahmadou Diarra that is, currently at Real Madrid... if you mean Alou Diarra, then yes, he is French...
Doesn't matter if we have 3-4 or 10 Non EU players leaving the team, the restriction is regarding how many NEW ONES you can bring in...

probably because they have european passports like Sorin who played at Villareal for how many years will have Spanish citizenship so he wont take up there EU spot, unlike when we buy from Brazil as they dont have no european connections and so take up out space
some one posted something about us going after navas, well that is impossible as navas is a Sevilla man for Life, he has some disorder or desease, where he cannot leave the sevilla because of chronic homesickness. I Heard it is really bad to the point, where he cannot play for spain, and he doesnt even go to away games.

And how is his wage? He is free and in superb form (only) THIS year but he is not special one. He doesnt deserve to be the top three highest paid in Serie A (if the post by a user is true).

That being said, I do want us to sign a big name player who would be more appropriate than dinho. Perhaps Drogba seems to be best available option.
Also, seeing Seedorf's play towards ending of the games, I feel we should start finding a young back up for him.

The translations may hav sumting to do wid it dough, as all the english articles I have read, quote Berlu as being "doubtful" that R10 is needed, rather than outright denying that he is coming...
Basically, this is not someone I will readily believe doesn't want R99...not yet.
After the euphoria of the fourth place, and a couple of weeks have passed, then things will be a bit clearer...
I for one would like to see Gorky given another chance next season, or loaned out if he won't get space in the side and time on the pitch.
I welcome Flamini's apparent emminent arrival, and look forward to seeing him in our midfield next term.
Gio: Sammarco...remind me of him....attacking midfielder, Italy under 21 or something?

Not a good thought. Ibra is talented, but disruptive to say the least. I am quite thankful we never ended up getting him, he would have caused chaos in the dressing room.
As for R10, I think Berlu and Galliani are playing it smart. Unless R10 has a drastic change of heart and has developed a new fondness for the EPL or the blue color (Man City, Chelsea), he will end up with us for a cut price.

Yes, with Maldini to his left and CAFU to his right. And Nesta+Billy at the back. Pirlo is not a normal midfield player, we can have a lot of problems with him and also a lot of unbelievable sucsess from his brilliant moves.
Maldini have almost never played on the left while Pirlo played as regista. It was Kaladze and Serginho.

I've read this in a few places (him saying he thinks less and less Dinho is needed), but as many say, it's more likely part of negotiations rather than saying we won't get him.
I doubt we'd go as far as get an agreement with the player only for it all to be dropped so quickly.
Quite frankly, if he doesn't come due to Barca's asking price I won't be upset, as 40+million is way too much.

He's traditionally a DM that can play further up the field when needed (and has played for Italy U-21). He's done very well at Samp this season and is integral to the team. Yesterday him and Belucci were all over Roma like a bad rash and it's shocking Samp didn't manage to go in at half time with a 3-4 goal lead.
Sammarco for me is a natural replacement in the squad to Brocchi. I doubt he'll ever be a starter at Milan, but he has the quality to be a decent backup (a step up from Brocchi I'd say).

I rather Sheva than Drogba. Drogba would take time to fit in, Sheva was already here he knows everything inside out, the formation was built on his characteristics..no one better could replace Sheva (of 2006) than Sheva :)
I have to disagree. Pato is here to become a player like Shevchenko.
Drogba is 30 years old now, which means he will have 2 or 3 years of good football in the future. Like Trezeguet has in Juve. Drogba is a super powerfull striker that Carlo Ancelotti wants, and he can also play in pretty deep roles, can pass, cross, shoot from outside...can run for 90 min and is built like a boxer! Im sure he is a perfect solution for uor attack. Aldough I dont mind seening Ronaldinho in Milan as Dinho is an absolute class, the MOST talented player on earth right now.
Also, sa much as we dont want to admit it, I can see Rino leaving Milan this summer and Milan buying a player like Cigarini to complete midfield of Cigarini-Ambrosini-Pirlo-Flamini rotation. Maybe Gattuso really wants to leave and his time in Milanello is up, unless we convince him to stay...

The difference with our mgmt and those of say, some of the english clubs, is that we r more vocal about our big signings, while the english clubs try to keep everything top secret until negotiations are well advanced...its tough to be patient at this time of year, but IMO, patience is the most valuable commodity to have during the summer!
Thanks for the info on Sammarco guys...I stayed up to watch the replay of the Samp v Roma game to see him, and yes, I agree: a good Brocci replacement, but not a starter methinks.
Find it hard to believe the Drogba rumors though, as I think if Mourinho goes to Inter(which I think is increasingly likely) then surely he will end up with his old coach...?

I don't want Drogba for many reasons, first of all, he is a typical EPL striker, second he has crappy personality, third he lacks on the technical skill (vital for milan)
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY - i don't like him :D

Why do you say that he has crappy personality and lacks technical skill? I have been following Drogba since 2004 with Marsellia and saw him playing on flesh many times and I must say that the guy is great he has every thing to play for any team in the world and above all I don't remember him causing any trouble before, if you consider what happened between him and Mido a problem then I must tell you that Mido was the mistaken side, and what he said when Mourinho left Chelsea is not a problem he is a calm and decent person.
I don't understand the meaning of a Typical EPL player so I am not going to comment on it I will just add that Drogba is the best African player, with all my respect to Etoo and Kanote(sp?) and he was not given this award because the CAF is the worest and most baised fedration in the entire world and a guy like hayato ( the CAFs president ) hates Drogba, I would welcom him in Milan any time even though I prefer Dinho.

i prefer drogba over tony honestly .... with our condition, we are not using the flanks properly.... drogba can play football after all... say what u wanna say but he plays football... toni just scores.
There were many reports regarding Drogba's personality. The main message that penetrates these reports is that Drogba is arrogant, self-centered and over confident..
Then, he really does lack technical - wise. He mostly uses his strength and speed to receive long balls, cover teh ball and create a dangerous moment. That's exactly what I mean by a typical EPL striker, other similar ones include Adebayor, even Inter's Balotelli :)

And that's exactly what we need to tear defences apart! :) An arrogant bully to open up defences and fight with brutals like Carrozzieri or Loria

Are you honestly saying Adebayor doesn't have technical skills?
Drogba's gone back to falling over alot and arguing with everyone (the free-kick against Man Utd where he argued with Ballack like a sulky kid springs to mind), which is a pity because he had a period where he just got on with things and that was when he was most dangerous. If we get that focused Drogba then that's great, if we get the sulky monster then we're better off with someone else.

Drogpa has crappy personality because in the past he was the center of argument after Mourinho left, he cried out loud like a child and threaten to leave and follow Mourinho - his "father", which caused problems in the whole team. I consider it as immaturity because when your girlfriend break up with you, it's not nesscessary to want anything to get the love back, because you still have a life to live.. this is similar to Drogpa 's situation when Mou left.
And plus, as Jim_UK mentioned, he argued with Ballack to have the freekick (which was wide above the goal). This is just childish and stupid, as he thought he has better technical skill than Ballack, who was chosen by the team and coach to take Chelski freekicks. Just imagine if he would argue with our Pirlo to take freekick, you will see the scenario.
I'd like to backup someone's theory when saying he's a typical EPL striker. Yes he is. He can't dribble. He can only use his strength and pace to keep the ball. That's why I call him a striker, not a forward. A forward is more like Pato, who can run down the flanks, dribbling past some player, and even crossing. However I think Milan needs this kind of "muscle" player, because we simply look weak and fragile in the front with pre-mature Pato and "glassy" Inzaghi.
I don't know about Toni but I heard he's a strong striker. But I don't care if he can do anything else than scoring. If he can score a lot and not being able to do anything else (such as running down the flanks, creating chances...), than I will get him. Isn't scoring what we expect in a striker?

He has never been named in a squad, not even for a Coppa match, nor will he be.

Agree 100%.
I can't believe we are even debating on whether Drogba is Milan quality. The guy is a proven scorer and he will be even better in Milan, also makes his teammates better.
Sheva's tenure in Milan is over, we got the best out of him and he got glory, money and recognition. The timing to sell him was perfect. His best days are over, while Drogba is at the peak of his career more mature than ever.

Slifersd....don't worry bro...silly season isn't even officially on yet...so we cannot know who we will, or won't sign yet...we have a bunch of "probables"...and a near definate with Flamini....but nothing concrete either way with regards to decisions re il mercato.
The difference with our mgmt and those of say, some of the english clubs, is that we r more vocal about our big signings, while the english clubs try to keep everything top secret until negotiations are well advanced...its tough to be patient at this time of year, but IMO, patience is the most valuable commodity to have during the summer!
I know it is too early to hit the panic button yet, but I just don't want us to repeat the same mistakes we made over the last three years. I think you are absolutely right about the fact that it is important to be patient in the market, but being over patient could also hurt our chances. We were patient in finding Shevchenko's replacement and end up missing out on every single good option available and ended up having to sign Oliveira. When it's time to get the job done, we shouldn't hesitate on it. Anyway, I hope you are right about us only being patient for the right players.

Let me add that a winning dressing room is also made of good fellows, good atmosphere and friendship. Human resources aren't secondary for a winning formula, and nobody better than this board know how to win. I think Ba is one of those players that keep the group as positive as it is.

slifersd, the patience I was actually referring to, is ours....as opposed to management's. :D
We were not patient in getting Flamini...we struck when we had to....
As fans, at times we tend to forget how involved and protracted negotiations for players can be...so we need to not panic until the window starts to close...remember Gila's signing a couple seasons ago? Down to the last hour I believe!!
So I am not worried about any movements, or apparent lack thereof at present....the newspapers have to make something(s) up to keep the readers buying...so rumors and speculation will abound.
On the yes Drogba, no Drogba issue...I am beginning to believe that if he were to come, that he would be useful...after all...his goals were a big reason for Chelski's cup winning exploits over his tenure at Stamford Bridge.
His arrival may preclude R10's aquisition though, because I am not sure that we can "afford" both...and to be honest, I still prefer R10. :D
How do you come to the conclusion that Brocchi is worse than Dida? Just curious!
u have it wrong, sorry if i want clear enough, Ba is the one worse than Dida
how does one compare a midfielder and a goalie, that's what I am wondering about...
the basis i made it off was
Well Dida fell out of the roster after the inter loss in december, and never made a re-appearance and b4 arsenal when Kalac picked up an injury, milan was looking to Fiori, instead of Dida, while Brocchi is still a player in rotation, as he is first midfield choice of the bench.
because there is no real way, that i could come up with to compare a outfield player and a keeper.
During a TV show, catalan journalist Cristina Cubero has declared to be sure that Ronaldinho and Gianluca Zambrotta will move to AC Milan for about 26 million Euros; the journalist, who is also a good friend of Ronaldinho, is sure that Silvio Berlusconi has declared his will to renounce to the brazilian star just to low his price.

Im glad milan signed someone so soon, and also a quality player like Flamini.. Drogba is at his prime now, hes going into his 30's soon .. He'll still be useful but I think a much better buy would be that of either Eto'o,Adabeyor(sorry not sure on the spelling), or my always top choice Ronaldinho. A dream summer mercato would be buying Adabeyor,R10,Mexes and Frey. I know you all probably think im just throwing around big names but I'm not, we need players like this to get back to our cup winning ways next year..

Eto'o gets injured much more often than Drogba. And just remember that Premier League is much more difficult for a striker than La Liga.
Adebayor had just once good season, yes he seems to be great this year but can also turn to be a bust as well.
About Ronaldinho, i also believe his is coming to Milan sooner or later this summer. Berlu is just playing hide and seek with Laporta so he wont overpay for R10.

I don't think Drogba will stay, he's been unhappy at Chelsea for a while and has publicly said so but has honoured his contract thus far. I don't believe it's a matter if they win trophies or not, but whether Mourinho calls on him.
AC Milan remain in Barcelona talks for Ronaldinho
AC Milan remain locked in talks with Barcelona for Ronaldinho and fullback Gianluca Zambrotta.
Rondo says Milan are confident of landing the pair for around £18 million, despite reports of Barca slapping a £30 million price-tag on Ronaldinho alone.
Barcelona journalist Cristina Cubero, a close friend of Ronie's, reported last night that there was no doubt over the prospect of both the Brazilian and Zambrotta pulling on Milan shirts next season.
Comments made by Milan powerbrokers Silvio Berlusconi and Adriano Galliani that their pursuit of Ronaldinho was over are being viewed simply as a bargaining tool to convince Barca to drop their asking price.
Of course we are still in talks with THE MOST TALČENTED PLAYER IN THE WORLD!!!!! And one of the BEST FULLBACKS in the world... The fact that Rijkaard is a horrible coach and that Ronaldinho has been living like a Holywood star for past season doesnt change those facts...
A reporter that spread the news that Braida meet with Drogba's agent said that Milan plan to sign Ronaldindo AND Drogba. It is not impossible and I dont see any reason why Milan wouldnt do that. We are AC Milan after all. If Madrid, Barcelona, Inter can do such moves, so can Berlusconi...
Anyway, latest news say Gatuso could to off to Munchen and Sagnol to Milan is that deal... We could really loose Rino, I hope he will stay in the end! Stay Rino!

I don't think Drogba will stay at chelsea but anyway we have other players on the market young players like Huntelar or Gomez
Newspapers are full of rumours for us today, mainly about Zambrotta & Sagnol but also Zapata which is good. Also rumours about Frey, Ronaldinho and possibly something about Aquilani though i might have interpreted that wrong.
I am a afraid that we could lose Rino in swop deal for Chelsea striker Drogba (we know Gattuso desire to play in Premier League but i hope he stays rosonero, and with Gattuso Pirlo Ambrosini Flamini and maybe Cigarini or Hernanes we would be great in defensive midfielder

Yeah, I agree. It's been a long time Milan havent signed stars. Last time we did was at the beginning of Carlo era. So after about 5 years, we should repeat it. It's worth.

Milan made an offer for R10 he can't refuse, they got what they want, if man city or inter want to make the same offer to R10 plus the transfer fee it will surley exceed the 70 M limit which no one will risk in such circumstances, i believe our management know exactly what they are doing, INTER, MAN CITY, EVEN chelsea will Want a share from R10 Image for the money they are pulling in, milan don't need that. so i believe R10 desire will be milan and for sure for the money he is getting, plus the atmosphere at milan will help him alot its not just a team ... its MILAN.

Barca are having liquidation I believe, and Valencia are having like a 50% off or something because of how poor their squad was.. Real Madrid might want to sell a few to trim the squad down..Villareal also have a few good players..Atletico have Aguero..and there are other players in the smaller teams.

Sagnol, I mean it would make sense if Bonera is playing horrible and Zambrotta ain't coming. First off, Sagnol complained about not being first 11 in Bayern, what makes us think he will be satisfy being left on the bench? This is one rumor that I think won't happen at all.
The Zapata one is good though, all they need is also Vargas and Zambrotta and maybe even Canini and then Milan is set for next season in the backline.
RB: Oddo, Bonera, Zambrotta
CB: Nesta, Kala, Zapata, Bonera, Maldini
LB: Zambrotta, Janku, Vargas, Favalli, Maldini
Looks pretty good to me.
Milan Will Definitely Sign Ronaldinho & Zambrotta
AC Milan will definitely sign both Ronaldinho and Gianluca Zambrotta from Barcelona this summer, according to Rondo. The deal for Milan to buy Ronaldinho, who is certain to leave Camp Nou following a depressing season, had looked a virtual certainty only a few weeks ago.
However then reports emerged in the press that Barca were demanding £30m for the Brazilian, and this led to Milan powerbrokers Silvio Berlusconi and Adriano Galliani claiming at the weekend that a transfer had all but collapsed.
Many people believe though that these declarations were simply designed as a bargaining tool to convince Barcelona to lower their asking price.
Rondo says that Milan are confident of signing Ronaldinho, and his club team-mate Gianluca Zambrotta for a combined £18m.
Zambrotta also seems highly likely to leave Barca at the end of the season, as he and his wife have becoming increasingly homesick since moving to Catalonia in 2006.
Barcelona journalist Cristina Cubero, who is a close friend of Ronaldinho, reported last night that both the Brazilian and Zambrotta would definitely be joining Milan this summer.
The Rossoneri are building a strong team ahead of next season, and yesterday completed the signing of Mathieu Flamini on a free transfer from Arsenal.

We’ve been linked to Sagnol (as has been mentioned numerous times here already) and apparently have a fee of 5m euros agreed (though Juve are apparently trying to hijack the transfer). I doubt this will happen, as Sagnol has said Klinsmann wants him next season. Can’t say I want him personally. I don’t really see what he’d add to the side or even the squad, and at 31 he’s not a long term prospect. I have grown fond of Bonera in RB, and really feel he’s earnt his spot for next season.
We’re linked to Frey again, as Fio are looking at Akinfeev (goal.com) and Drogba rumours have died down as Braida has said he will probably stay at Chelsea (again mentioned here already).
The biggest news is that one of Dinho’s friends who is a journalists says that Dinho and Zambro will be Milan players for certain next season (pretty much on every news site). Berlu has again said we don’t need Dinho (and praised Flamini).
For Ronaldinho, the last reports are the following ones:
- we're not interested anymore by him
- the player would have serious health problems
- he could use the famous 17th article
- one guy from our management is going to Barcelona this wednesday for both Ronaldinho and Zambrotta
Maybe some of you were interested by Kerlon but it seems Inter is going to buy him ... he was in Milan to watch Milan-Inter (ummmmmh 2-1, cool to remember lol) and his agent is the one of Maxwell and Ibrahimovic ...

Galliani is playing games with this hole transfer of r10 and zambrotta.. according to this article we're landing them for sure.. I also read on goal that we're interested in Willy Sagnol (bayern defender) , buying him along with Mexes would be a great summer mercato..

Even if that was remotely true, all we'd need to do is have our own thorough medical before signing him and see what the results are.

To a certain degree, I like the Sagnol signing. One of the reasons is obviously that I like him as a a player. Another factor is that we have a limited fund for the mercato and most or at least a large portion of that has to go to a powerful striker and a goalkeeper who doesn't give out free lunches. Which means we have to fill in the rest of the holes on our rosters with some signings that doesn't cost a lot of money. Cheap signings means we either sign older players or very very crappy young players. To me, I would rather have a good player for a short term of time than nothing. Sagnol isn't 26 any more, but he can still play and be a very solid backup. One of our main problems last year was our lack of depth and him being here will certainly address that.

Again people...the media have to:
a) sell papers
b) attract viewers
c) get more website "hits"
in order to survive...wait till the season´s in Europe end, and there is nothing but transfer speculation to write about, and watch what happens.
Pele, Maradona, and Van Basten could all be on their way to Milan....if they cant find some other "likely" candidates to fill our roster, and the roster of every big, small, and medium club in Europe..and the MLS (for the amost, and complete hasbeens) as well!!

I don't believe a word of it. Let's just go through everything that was said about Ronaldinho in the last few weeks:
1. He was inventing an injury as MRI scans didn't show anything.
2. He really got injured.
3. They said he was injured all along but it was minor injury not connected to the new, real one.
4. Sala Martin came out and said that Barca made up the story about some players being injured to isolate them from the squad because of their attitude (clearly pointing at Ronaldinho).
5. Ronaldinho is really injured and this injury could end his career.
They're just contradicting themselves all the time (plus overreacting). He probably underwent medical tests because his new potential club asked it from him. How could anyone know what was in that medical report (apart from doctors who would have to really dumb and desperate for some money to say a word)?
P.S. For a guy who is in a "worse physical condition than people think", he sure scored a nice bicycle kick only two months ago.

i think out of all the strikers we should really go for berba....he is a good powerful striker....but the problem is his price would be high because of his form ...neverthless another good choice is mario gomes he would be cheaper than berba because he plays in the bundesliga (dont mean to upset anyone).....personally drogba and sheva are the last options i would look at..both are old now and we already have inzaghi and borrielo(if he comes to join us) who are expierenced and can teach paloschi pato

Actually this news comes from a very relieable source in Spain. The private clinic that made this check could very well have been hired by us (IMO). while it could be a play to get down his price I do feel that his physical condition may be a huge problem.

Well, if I party every night, I am sure my physical conditions will be a problem too.
Well, I really don't know what will happen to Dinho, but I am sure if he fails our medical, he won't be playing for us.
Mario Gomez is interesting indeed, someone I had overlook for the past months, thats b/c Toni and Drogba are just out of this world thats all.

Guys, given the importance of the powerful new striker we are going to sign, who must be a clinical goal scorer as well, i think we'll realistically go for proven material. I don't think we'll make any bet or take big risks.
I think we'll try to deal Drogba. The problem with this player is that Chelsea is a very expensive shop. But if Ronaldinho doesn't come (the latest confirm Berlusconi wasn't only playing mind games last day) we'll invest big moneys on a keepr and a first striker.
If we buy Frey, Mexes, Sagnol, we have Flamini and Gourcuff ... you want us to be the favorite european team in France ?? lol
All we can say is that our management knows what has to be improved this year and they seem to plan this improvement (maybe not all for this year). So I expect us to fight in all competitions in 2 years !! lol
why we have to bother with Sagnol? that dude is way too old to starts a new career in a big team like Milan. he passed his prime time. if we want to take a defender from Munich, Lucio or Lahm will be a perfect addition. may God bless Milan for not making any stupidity transfer....again :rollani:

The thing is that Sagnol is unhappy b/c he is on the bench at Bayern.
Thus if he is to leave, he will want first team football. And with the way Oddo played before injured and how Bonera played recently. On top of that with Zambro coming, I doubt Sagnol would want to come to Milan and sit on the bench.
Thats my take on this signing.
Gabriel489
07-05-2008, 05:49
If we want someone exp. Isn't Zambro, Toni or Drogba, enough as they are all 30 or 31.
Sagnol will stay in Munich ... simply because the next coach (Klinsmann) wants him like a captain.
For MLM, if I'm not wrong, Sagnol is "only" 30 or 31, like some of the other targets lol ...
I read a report yesterday which said we had Zapata in our targets :bright:
I hope it is true ...
The best would be to take guys like Zaccardo and Pasqual for RB/LB, they are already able to play in Serie A and will learn for European competitions from other guys (Oddo and Janku and ...).
Anyway, for Zaccardo, it seems like he would have signed for Wolfsburg or something like that lol, if it is true, it would be a real lack of ambition to leave Palermo for this kind of club.
Sergio Ramos would be on the mercato ...

yes i knew it. but he plays at winger position. would be hard for someone at that age for running to chase a teenager lets just say like Pato and also makes a good delivery ball to forward. i also knew that Zambrotta is at the same age too. but Zambrotta has more experiences in Europe as he played for 2 great teams (Juve and Barca) that would make the difference. no pun intended towards Muenchen and Monaco :D like i said before, Lahm would be a nice addition if we want to buy a player from Muenchen. or at least Lucio :)

he is 26/27 and become one of the toughest left fullback in serie a.

does any body have any info on Stefano Guberti, of ascoli.
Reports from Italy say we signed Canini, a young and supposed to be promising defender.
Also, some reporter on tuttomercatoweb.com is saying Milan is not sattisfied with Oddo and that Oddo will be replaced by Sagnol. In that case we did an ok transfer becouse, to be honest, Oddo has been really poor except for some CL defensive moments. Also, Bonera is starting to play like PArma Bonera at the RB.
Maybe people in Milanello have really decided not to risk with Ronaldinho's fitness and behaviour and will go for classical players like Drogba, Eto'o, Berbatov. My fingers are crossed for Drogba who would be DEVASTATING playing with Kaka', Pirlo, Pato, Seedorf... Aldough of course my personal dream in Benzema-Pato duo ( it would become legendary in Milan)!
Frey-Gila scambio is what everyone is talking about. For me that seems fair, for us :) And plus, Prandelli will get him man back to him.
for me, one question seems intacked - we need a player to become a rotation player with Clarence who cannot play any more at top tempo for much games in a row. Who could that be? Nasri? Diego for the first 11 ( I dont see why not!!!)? VdV? Or some magical 16 year old brazilian...? WE'll see do we have such plans. In my oppinion, it would be a huuuge mistake to rely on Seedorf for first 11 for next season.
real madrid have confirmed that chelsea have offered £53 million (70 million euros) for Ramos ... i guess it depends how badly they want Ronaldo as to wether they let him go.
If we are that concerned with Ronaldinho's fitness why did we buy Ronaldo? We didn't seem to have a problem buying him even though his fitness is more in question than Ronaldinho.
Today on the striker transfer merry go round, it's another turn for Berbatov. He is flavour of the day today :D

I'd love to see Berbo in Milan (I know red&black suits him, he played for Leverkuzen), but it's not very likely. He's too expensive for us. He prefers to play in England. It's true that he said nobody can say "No" to Milan, he said that Marco Van Basten is one of his idols as a child, but I don't think this will be enough. We'll never pay that amount of money (I mean 40+ mlns).
Man United were very interested about him, but it seems they are happy with Carlos Tevez and won't make a bid for Berbo. In the same time it's very likely that Drogba and Shevchenko will leave Chelsea, so they deffinatelly will try to sign Berbatov... :rollani:

Forget Berbatov - it can't possibly happen. He's too well regarded in the EPL for the big teams of Chelsea and Man U to let go.
I never do this, but here is my wish list.
Frey, Zapata, Vargas, Zambrotta, Cigarini (please!), Dinho, Borriello
Squad to look like:
GK: Frey, Kalac, Fiori/Offredi
LB: Vargas, Janku
RB: Zambrotta, Oddo
CB: Nesta, Kaladze, Zapata, Bonera, Digao, Simic
MF: Pirlo, Ambro, Gattuso, Flamini, Gourcuff, Cigarini, Kaka, Seedorf (as a backup only)
FW: Pato, Borriello, Dinho, Paloschi, Inzaghi
Ricky Kaka: " our defenders are old and we need new defenders so we can play well again... If I could buy a player it would be Messi, then Ronaldinho. those are the players that suite me. Also Pato and Pippo."

I have 2 questions.
1 - How much did Genoa pay us for Boriello's co-ownership?
2 - How much do people think we will have to pay to buy Genoa's half?
I just wonder which would be cheaper, buying back Boriello or bringing in someone like Gomez :googly:

Don't know numbers, but I would assume Borriello has to be cheaper since we already own 50%. The only way Borriello could cost more than Gomes is if Boriello was worth at least twice as much as Gomes. That's not likely especially considering that Borriello only has 1 year of success on his resume.

I just wonder which would be cheaper, buying back Boriello or bringing in someone like Gomez :googly:
1 - dont know the number, but the price was divided by 2, Genoa paid half, we didn't pay because Genoa bought the player from us, and he would play for them. The price was determined by the value of the player at that time. In Bori case, it was low because he was benched in our team and didn't have any form. So for example, he was evaluated at 2M, Genoa would have paid 1M and take the palyer with him (we still own the other half).
2 - Now he's in form and showing talents, his value goes up of course. For example, the 2 boards agree that his value is 10M now, if we want him back, we have to pay 10/2 = 5M to buy back the other half. In this case, I'm sure we will have to pay much more Genoa did to get Bori back, because he is not the same Bori.
Hope this helps.

“Io comprerei Messi. In questo momento è un giocatore che mi piace vedere, che mi piace guardare. Un giocatore che fa la differenza in una maniera incredibile. Se potessi prendere un giocatore, sì, prenderei Messi”.

It is getting frustrating to see ac milan not being able to sign players as Barcelona, Real, United do... taxes or not. While Barcelona will go for Lahm, Benzema and so on...we will go for SAGNOL???
If milan doesnt sign few proper young, fast and skilfull players we can say goodbye to sciudetto becouse our stile of play in not suted to serie a. And without world class players we cant play it well.
Drogba, Aquilani, Diego, Alves, Zmabrotta, Zapata, Frey, Benzema, Nasri - those are the players. Not Sheva, Sagnol, Schwainstainger...
We will see aguess, in the end.
when says "grandi difensori" he means "great defenders" not "old defenders"
although he does mention the need to rejuvenate the team a little bit

what does this mean?

He's saying:
Milan should also think, because our defenders are of a certain age, that they should rejuvenate the squad a little bit.
ep Guardiola will push to have several of Barcelona's fringe players offloaded should he succeed Frank Rijkaard as coach.
DiarioSport says those Guardiola doesn't see as part of his plans for next season are Eidur Gudjohnsen, Ronaldinho, Pinto, Thierry Henry, Edmilson, Giovani dos Santos, Santi Ezquerro, Lilian Thuram, Oleguer, Yaya Toure and Albert Jorquera.
Assistant coach Johan Neeskens will follow Rijkaard out of the Nou Camp, with Eusebio Unzue also expected to leave.
Any of those players interest you, personally, i like Gio Dos Santos, and Yaya Toure, both Non EU players. and the problem with yaya, is that he is a DM, and we already have many of those, and Pato, is like Gio, but better.

Now the silly season is really about to kick into overdrive....Barca's humiliating defeat in, and to Madrid surely spells the end for Rikjaard...so rumors spring up immediately about his destination, and the potential "clear-out" Guardiola will initiate.
Of the players purported not to b in the new coach's plans, only R10 impresses, and Thuram on a 2 year contract or some such...actually at his age, a one year contract mite b better!
Nothing though is certain, and I am sure Barca will think twice about disbanding a squad with so much talent...unless they decide to rebuild the side around Messi....who Kaka has "asked" for!
This stuff gets better by the minute!
milan signed old and injury-proned players like emerson and ronaldo with huge salary. dinho has serious physical injury as reported recently, if it is true , then milan must not sign him.
drogba is 30 years old, but i think he is very strong and can play high level football for another 8 years. i am not sure about benzema though.
luca toni and nistelrooy are other alternatives.
after signing flamini, now we have far too many defensive midfielders. surely one or two must leave. we must sign one world class attacking midfielder as we are lacking in that type of player.

Just b/c Barcelona did not win anything the past two years, what makes u think they will sell all their stars and gets new ones.
If I am Barcelona, I will sell one or two of Henry, Eto and R10. R10 is all but signed with us and I believe Henry will go back EPL, probably Man City or Chelsea. Then I will use those money to sign players like Drogba or Berbertov or Gomez...
Their midfield is actually more talented than people think, all they really need is their players to play to their level. Deco and Marquez are a shadow of themselves. Yaya and Ineista are talented and are work horse. They just need another DM or CM to be really competitive. As for defense, they have Pugol in the back as well as Abidal, and most likely they will sign Alves. I really think Barcelona is in the same position as us, they will sell their players but not guys like Messi or Pugol or Yaya or Eto. The only way those players will not be in Barcelona is for the team to exchange them with other teams, like Eto for Drogba, Messi for Kaka, or Pugol for Terry.
And one more thing, of all the players Barcelona might be selling, only R10 and Zambro are players that we need, and not guys like Henry or Eto, as for that price I would rather have Toni or Drogba.

Whilst I agree with your sentiments, I do not agree we 'need' R10. If the stories about his fitness have any truth I wouldn't even take him on a free either. We need a strong athletic forward, Toni and Drogba are good examples as is Eto'o even if he misses the target a bit. :)
The only players I would consider taking from Barca would be Zambrotta, Ineista, Messi and maybe Eto'o and Abidal, although I feel we can find better in Serie A (Vargas).

Is he a powerfull forward? hahaha!
What KAka' is saying, in a polite way, is that we have an old defence...to make it easy to understand I translated it that way.
mercato: Milan prepare to include Oddo into Sagnol deal. Fine by me, Sagnol is a better going forward then Oddo and is the same age. All in all, I think Sagnol is a better player overall. Zambrotta and Sagnol would be excellent SHORT termsolutions for fullback positions.
Favalli extended his contract...!! WOHO! We should give him a shirt with " Favalingo " at the back. Do not get ne wrong, as a person-player I like him. Tactically he is great, and is a smart palyer, but this is ridiculous.

I prefer Eto'o to Dinho. Imagine what will happen if we have a trio of Kaka-Eto'o-Pato. They run so fast that the defenders will be allowed to use motorcycles to chase them :grinser:
The problem are his price won't be cheap at all, and the fact that he'd had terrible injuries in the past.
The news in Greek sites state that we will sell oddo, i try to find it in Foreign...
It is in Corriere Dello Sport...
I just watched SKy tg24 and the news in " Zambrotta vicino al Milan", with Oddo going maybe to Barca maybe somewhere alse. Also, Milan IS looking for Vargas, also Roma and Napoli are.
Ronaldinho is still on with only money being the question.
Aldough after all those mercato dissapointments I have lost faith in Galliani, I still have soooome faith that they will be smart and buy the right players like those 3. And then GK and forward.
Vargas after all was one of the best fullbacks in serie a, with powerfull shot and strong duel chalenges.

and really, if they don't get Dinho after ALL those promises, I dont really know what more to say...I am hating Galliani day by day, the only way im gonna like him is if he gets Balotelli :D but seriously they keep breaking their promises.. and whats this about Oddo being sent away when we only got him 1 year and a half ago? I mean, I would love to see him thrown away like that but it is highly unlikely.. what's going on with Zambrotta? and with Vargas I believe its just plain rumours with no truth in them unfortunately..I would really like to see Zambro and Vargas as our full backs for next year...besides Vargas is a pretty good left midfielder too.
There will be two experienced defenders from Serie A that will be free next summer and I expect Milan to get one of them. Ferrari and Ujfalusi. Ufo is a pretty decent defender but I would rather Bonera (or Cannavaro :D). Does anyone have any idea what happened to Di Silvestri? The young Lazio right-back? He was supposed to be free this summer and we were heavily linked with him.

It is true. I said it one month ago. You never trust me... :D
Anyway, i think Favalli deserves to be a squad member. When i told you to have a reality check, i meant this. We can't change 10 players in one summer. Come on, only a kid would believe that. I'm sure we'll sign 5-6 players. Not 10, as many believe.
i'm not sure that we'll sign another 2-3 players anyway :D

no no no 10 players ... who thought so??? ... i think it's frey + vargas + zammbrotta + alex silva + mario gomes/berba ... they will cost inorder gila + 10 mils + 7 mils + 3 mils + 20 mils ... so a great squad with 6 enforcements and 40 mils ... great huh?

6 quality players are enough,No Gila,no Emerson no Oliveira.
Frey,Zambrotta,Ronaldinho,Shevchenko,Zapata are enough for me but i'd be happier if we add vice Oddo and Menez and vice Pirlo;Hernanes to them.maybe Menez and Vice Oddo are not priority as long as we have Bonera who is doing good job at Rb and also have Di Gennaro or Gourcuff for vice Kaka and Dinho, but we dont have anyone who have pirlo charectertic play of the game also considering he cant play all games.
A team;
Frey
Oddo Nesta Zapata Zambrotta
Gattuso/Flamini Pirlo Ambrossini/Flamini/Seedorf
Kaka Dinho
Pato
B team;
Kalac
Bonera Maldini Kaladze Jankulovski
Ambrossini Hernanes Seedorf
Gourcuff/Di Gennaro
Paloschi inzaghi/Shevchenko.
but i still think we need to sign:
1 - keeper (Lloris or Frey)
2 - a fullback or two
3 - A CB (Mexes or Zapata or maybe even Barzaghi)
4 - A Utility player, like what hagreaves is, a player that can play in any position (like Bodmer of lyon)
5 - A Creative Midfield player (R10, seems to be the favourite)
7 - A striker or two.
8 - A wonderkid, could also be signed
remember we are going to be losing many players
1 - Cafu
2 - Simic
3 - Dida
4 - Brocchi
5 - Maybe Gourcuff
6 - Gila
7 - maybe even oddo,as recently he has been in rumours
8 - maybe Maldini
9 - Emerson
10 - Serginho
11 - maybe, but hopefully not, Gattuso
12 - Ronaldo

Quite a lot of news today and none of it related to young starlets from Brazil for once.
For a start it looks like Favalli will get a year long extension to his contract (Corriere Dello Sport). I'm neither here nor there on this one, as long as he isn't relied on as much next year. As a third choice LB backup he's not a bad option I guess.
Bayern have stepped up their interest in Rino, apparently offering him a massive contract (I read it on goal.com, can't remember original source). If he does leave, I’ll be extremely disappointed as of late he’s looking like he’s regaining some form and could be great next season. That said, it won’t be the end of the world if he leaves either, but personally I’d like to see at least just one more season from him in Milan.
Gazzetta says that Milan could well be in the hunt for Amauri as Juve may step aside so they can get Gila. Amauri and Juve cannot agree on a salary and it seems Milan may be willing to meet his demands. Wouldn’t be a bad move imo, he’s got a lot of quality and is a good team player. He has the attributes that meet the requirements we need (a tall, powerful forward who can compliment Pato). His only real flaw is he isn’t the most spectacular goalscorer, which we could use (this could possibly due to how Palermo play though). Not my first choice, but certainly not someone I’d complain about.
There are there usual Zambro and Dinho sagas (I read these on goal.com). Oddo is essentially seen as expendable now and so apparently we’re trying to agree a swap with Barca with Oddo for Zambro. Apparently the Barca management aren’t impressed and have stuck a high price on Zambro’s head now (much like they did with Dinho). Alternatively, Oddo could be used to try and bring Sagnol, who looks more likely to leave after he didn’t attend some celebrations that Bayern were having.
Dinho’s rumour has grown stronger (Tuttosport, who has a nice picture of him in a Milan shirt, very “classy”) after apparently having a party with some guys from Barca (and friends) where he announced he would be off to Milan this summer. Would be nice if true and Barca meet our offer, but he must also pass the medical.
Bronzetti has again spoke today (calciomercato.com or it), apparently saying that Barca have some big purchases they want to make (namely Benzema). He says to finance this move, they should sell some players (translation: Hurry up and sell dinho and zambro to Milan).
I’ve heard that we’re linked to Vargas again. Does anyone have any sources?

Yes, many will leave, but you have to continue paying them. If you break a contract, you have to give moneys. If you don't, you still keep paying. For ex. if we give Gourcuff on loan we keep paying him.
Releasing Dida means giving him 8-9 m to break the contract.
Another note: R10 costs 140 millions euro , considering tag price + wage.

Are you serious? After Oddo's season and Bonera of late you'd still put Oddo ahead of Bonera?

1-4-8-9-10-11: I think they will stay ... (but who knows ?).
5-6-7: We don't know yet what is going to really happen for them ...

When you loan out one of your players, you can agree with the club receiving this player that this club pays wage ...
To break a contract, you have to pay, it's ok, but no club breaks contracts nowadays lol ... too expensive.
The solution is to sell the players we don't need, I'm sure a guy like Dida can find a place in England or France (not sure actually) or in Brazil, it's more difficult for Cafu/Serginho because of their ages, but the guys like Gourcuff, Brocchi, Simic or Gilardino can be sold very easily.

Of course, you can agree that, but who is going to pay Milan's high target wages? If you loan Gilardino to Fiorentina, how do you expect them to pay 4m per year? They pay 1.5 M and the rest is on you.
How do you expect them to sign a player whose wage is that high? They won't sign him, unless the player accept to get the half of the half of his current wage. Can you see Gila going from 4 m per year to 1.5 ? I don't
Breaking a contract is the only solution to get rid of Dida, for example. You give him moneys, or you keep paying his wage. The error was made last year with his contract renewal. Now, it's an aut- aut. Tertium non datur. :sun:
So any source on the Vargas rumor and what happened to Brida with the Zapata thing.
Vargas is likely to go to Roma from the last reports ... but from the Catania manager, there are a lot of offers from big clubs in Spain (Barca, Madrid and Seville ?? lol), and some from England. He also said he would prefer that Vargas still plays in Italy ...
For Zapata, I don't know anything about Braida and him, but I know that we seem to fight with Juventus to get him, so we'll get him lol ...

All depends on what you prefer:
- paying Gilardino for example, letting him on the bench but able to play if needed (injuries from others, etc), and why not, seeing the real Gilardino coming back with plenty goals ?
- loaning him to another club (Fiorentina, Juventus or Roma), paying more than 70% of his wage and if he scores a lot of goals again, maybe making us in trouble ? lol

If the latter happens and Gila refinds his form and scores tons, then the club reaps the benefit of seeing his value go up. We could then bring him back or preferably sell him at a higher price next year.
