I agree with you in these two things.
Great minds think alike, mate.
I actually believe that all the players u mentioned were rushed back due to that lack of quality replacements. I think if Gattuso actually stayed out for one more month, he would have been much more affective down the stretch. Same goes to Kaka and Pato. I am glad this was not a WC year as Kaka can get some much needed rest. Same thing for Pato.
As for calling last season a failure, I would not call it a complete failure but certainly you can't say it was a success either.
yes i know they were rushed back, but they did help alot, even tho they werent that fit...
and yea I know it wasnt a success :D

Real Madrid won 2 league titles in a row. What has Roma won? A Coppa Italia? Would Bayern have won their league if they didnt invest in Toni, Ribery, and Klose? Would Milan have won 2 CLs if we hadnt bought Nesta, Pippo, Kaka, Sheva, etc? At some point, we have to spend money if we want to remain competitive. Signings like Boriello and Antonini may be fine tuning if we had just won the league or CL, but not in a year when we finished 5th and need an overhaul. It's disgraceful.
Real Madrid did not win anything as far as international titles are concerned. Milan is doing the same thing as Bayern and is investing in the squad (as we see at this point in time). We need one or two big signings and we will be all set. This isn't disgraceful by any sense of the word.

Another question for you Giancarlo, if Milan actually spent some money last summer and got the likes of Ribery or Toni or both----do you honestly think we'd still finish 5th in the league and get kicked out of CL at the 2nd round?
I'm not defending past errors of the management, but Isee for a fact they ARE TRYING TO FIX the problems this transfer season (and did it with some great transfers).

Giancarlo we all love our team dearly but u cant defend ineptitude. Our management is a shame and i shudder to imagine what will happen if Nesta, Pirlo or Kaka got an season ending injury. With **** players geting big money and a **** management that cant sign players we are now an average team
Now that's an attack that was unjustified. Point out to me where I was defending ineptitude, or this was just another unjustified attack. Our management is good enough and are going about rectifying current problems in the squad right now. We are not an average team. Never.

Since when only international titles count? I personally believe a domestic league is more difficult to win as it requires consistency throughout the season.
I think rt9 got some point, if there's a time when we need to splash big money, now is the time. After our winning against Inter Galliani said that with a complete squad we can beat any team. The thing is you can't expect the whole team to be fit for about 50 games a year. We can't wait until one of our key players like Kaka or Pirlo before making important signing. We had bad experience signing player in such a hurry like RO.
I agree that we need one or two big signings and we will be all set. But we all heard about these big names rumours coming down from Galliani for at least two years, so it's understandable that some people, including me, become skeptical

Well I'm more confident we will get something, and if anything finishing in 5th was a bit of a wake up call for management. I actually think it was fine if we finished in 5th, because there would have to be changes made. Imagine if we finished in fourth, and bought no one to this point.
So am I my friend, I'm confident that we get something. Hopefully that something is the kind of player that we need (like Dinho, Ade that Galliani has publicly claim to have interest in) , not the kind of player that we're forced to buy since the mercato is almost closed.

Ronaldinho maybe. But Adebayor is way overpriced... and Arsenal may be forced to auction him off at a far lower price. Why? Because I think he doesn't want to stay... if you have a player like that, it can cause problems in the team.
Asked about the situation of Barcelona players Ronaldinho and Eto'o, Barcelona economic vice president Ferran Soriano has said at a press conference yesterday that the two players will only leave if an appropriate bid comes in:
Selling players is not only a technical decision, it's also an economic decision. Barcelona will only sell Ronaldinho and Eto'o if the right market price is paid. If that's not the case, they will not leave. And like the coach has said before, we will then do everything to get the best out of them.
I have a feeling that Laporta's going to survive the vote of no confidence by the skin of his teeth and shortly thereafter sell Eto'o and Ronaldinho for far less than market value
From an article on theGuardian/football website:
I know little about financial matters, but that kind of debt, hmmmmm....wouldn't want my club saddled with that.
€190M? :dontkn:
I am sure Platini isn't liking that either...and I wonder how much longer clubs will be allowed to play in the UCL with that sort of debt?
Milan's debt is a fraction of that amount...£20M or some such?
What did Barca win last year? Same amount of trophies as Milan right?
Curse management all u want...but if our debt can remain so relatively small..I can only b thankful to them.
As for the mercato....its barely started...and we will reinforce, more likely than not in the attacking department...so all the concern, fretting, moaning, etc etc....chill...
We have a financially stable and solvent club...and that's enough for me at this point.
I will worry about the silverware, or lack thereof, in May 2009....or thereabouts.
1 Barca might not have had silverware but they weren't out of the title race by winter.
2 Barca comfortably qualified for the CL
3 What do you think Platini can do vs the ex-members of the g14?? Make no mistake the big clubs have the power just look at the disgraceful way real does buisness without even a harsh word from fifa
4 Other highly inebtted clubs (ManU, Real Inter) have been stockpiling titles and none of whom seem to be on the verge of a crash

1 Barca might not have had silverware but they weren't out of the title race by winter. Indeed....tragic wasn't it?
2 Barca comfortably qualified for the CL Also true, and wont/cant argue with that either...yet another tragedy.
3 What do you think Platini can do vs the ex-members of the g14?? Make no mistake the big clubs have the power just look at the disgraceful way real does buisness without even a harsh word from fifa He can, and will implement his policy whereby clubs with high debts....(not sure of the threshold)...will not b allowd int the UCL...regardless of their league finish...just look at the changes he has already made to the structure of the UCL, to see that he has acted, against the wishes/prefrences of the ex-G14 clubs.
Madrid haven't acted any different from how Man U behaved when they were tryin to sign Hargreaves...what's good for the goose....
4 Other highly inebtted clubs (ManU, Real Inter) have been stockpiling titles and none of whom seem to be on the verge of a crash a crash doesn't always loom on the horizon...it can happen in the blink of an eye....and overnight, Man U...Liverpool...etc etc can all find themselves falling...and not being able to get up.
Look at this scenario:
Club X has a wealthy (read billionaire owner) and he dies suddenly. His children have no interest in running the club, and decide to sell....
How difficult/easy would it be to find a buyer if the club's debt is say, £20M, as opposed to £120M?
Further...I just personally prefer not to have debt over my (club's) head...

This has happened numerous times in Italy before... not that the owner dies, but decides to just leave... and trying to sell the club is futile... thus since the owner decides to have no part in it, the club is forced to liquidate itself.
I really don't want that to happen to Milan.

Slow day on the market eh.... as it stands right now this is whats going on:
- We wanted Ade but now he is apparently too expensive for us according to Galliani
- Now we are trying again for Ronaldinho (rumour has it that Monday is when we meet Barca)
- Sheva is not in our sights only unless he gets Abramovic to give us a free loan
- Braida said alot of things about Veloso and so did Veloso and his agent..they said they will meet after the Euros..Veloso then was linked for Juve for the past few days. Well if we are looking at a creative central midfielder like that - that means we are looking for a Pirlo alternative I guess..they never really got anyone since Vogel left..and come to think of it, what a bad bad, BAD deal we made with Betis to sign Oliveira.. 14m + Vogel..and we never even replaced him...what a poor deal that turned out to be
And other news,
- Kalac seems confident that he will be a starter next year inspite of Abbiati's arrival and Dida's presence
- Brocchi - whats going on with him, is he staying is he leaving?
- Paloschi is definitely going on loan it seems, just to who?
- Simic - the least used player in the last 3 years..we should use him in a deal that could bring Boruc here
- Emerson - i'm willing to give him another chance as long as he's in shape
- Boriello is not good enough..Oliveira scored much more goals than Boriello and he still is our player, why is that we bring Boriello after one season with 18 goals and we sold Oliveira?

LOL. You sometimes I think about that... lol... he's obnoxious... and quite frankly pisses me off. We better get Diogo Luis Santo before he gets him. Apparently he doesn't even use the money he sells for wages... Arsenal players are always complaining about that...
Hitmann, indeed Simic may be sold to Celtic... and we could include him in a deal for Boruc...
Oliveira only scored what? 3 goals? We got a good deal selling Oliveira too...

hes just every terrible french stereotype rolled into 1 satanic being.
-sad too, because i do enjoy watching arsenal play. only epl team with any sort of technique, skill
Why does no one mention Stankovic? He seems avaialable. Except striker, I do think we need also creative midfielder/attacking midfielder. I dont know about his salary with Inter but my big doubt the tranfer (to Milan) to happen is (again) recent Milan-Inter relationship.
I think, Stankovic can play almost in every position in midfield area. He could also play in left CM to accompany Pirlo and Flamini/Gattuso in midfield to support Kaka and the two strikers in 4-4-2 formation IMO. The advantages signing him could be his age (will be 30 yo this September), ?injury prone? and ?his salary?.
I just read Ranieri comments and I really want to know Juve fans' opinion about Stankovic, the advantage and disadvantage for Juventus if Juve sign him (Yes, Tony29! It's you :D)
Milano84
05-07-2008, 15:26
stankovic was awful this season. i dont know that his form will improve. i see no point, we already have brocchi, emerson, favalli for his position or worthless salary
I do think, Stanjkovic is very different (regarding type of play) to Emerson espcially Brocchi as Stankovic is more attacking midfielder as he played pretty often behind the two-strikers or played on the right side of Inter's midfield while Emerson especially Brocchi is a defensive midfielder.
The rest of your post, I agree.
Giancarlo
05-07-2008, 15:51
Stankovic... no no no no... I understand why Juve fans are angry... I wouldn't want Stinkovic either. As a Milan fan... no way...
Besides that, if we want an attacking midfielder we should get Hernanes. Now that we have two non-EU spots open, we can get Hernanes and Diogo Luis Santo.

yess he look like very strong and very good player He also holds a Portuguese passport and the club reported that the largest offer was ₤9 million from an Italian club
but as you sad he is like pato, so if we get Dinho is unlikly that we go for a another striker that have nearly same characteristics like Pato or Dinho we need more target man player
Anyway I would like to see a Brazilian offensive force at Milan Kaka Dinho Pato Diogo
Laporta Key To ‘Dinho’s Milan Move
According to Mediaset, if Joan Laporta’s seat is confirmed in tomorrow’s elections, Ronaldinho will play at San Siro next term.
In order for the motion to be considered valid, at least 10% of the club’s members must vote on the matter and at least 70% of the voters would have to vote against Laporta if he is to be ousted
The Rossoneri are monitoring the situation closely and are cheering for a Laporta victory. According to one report out of Spain, Laporta may consider giving their megastar to Milan on a one-year loan
I have a feeling that Laporta's going to survive the vote of no confidence by the skin of his teeth and shortly thereafter sell Ronaldinho for less than market value
i think that Ronaldinho to Milan on a loan deal, which would then leave open the possibility of later making this permanent would be great deal but is very unlikely

The management is suffering and trying hard to bring one or two players to San Siro but:
* the fans are looking 4 big names no matter how they will fit in the squad.
*as we all noticed, the prices of "stars" are hitting the roof bcos of 4 teams:real madrid, chelsea, manchester, and liverpool.
*Milan needs 3 players: goalkeeper, CB, and CF.
*After what happenned to Gilardino, I have no faith in any player until I see him what he can do 4 us on the field.
*if AC milan is really looking 4 the scudetto, the should have at least 18 very strong players.
*when was the last time milan used typical winger??????
*Carletto is doing his best with what he has.
*our main problem 4 the last 2 years was the attack...
*until 1st of Septemper, I will wait and see...
thanks a lot.

the part about quagliarella has me interested!
Quagliarella is a star I have followed for a while, and I never thought he'd consider leaving Udinese... boy some of my relatives are not going to be happy about that. Some of my family are Udinese supporters... oh boy... and for him to move to Milan...
Milan084, I understand your skepticism about him, but he has also scored 4 times in 8 games in the Brazilian Serie A... from an article I've read... and he did help his side to the first league promotion... that's a task in itself because of the high quality of Brazilian football.
I'd be extremely happy if we get Diogo and Quagliarella... lets NEVER be shortchanged in the attack ever again I say!
In the end I'd like to see this: Inzaghi, Diogo, Quagliarella, Pato... with attacking midfielders being Ronaldinho, Kaka, Seedorf... that'll fix our attack related problems. No more relying on just one player and putting too much pressure on him. I know Diogo and Pato are similar, but it's best to get a player like Diogo before Arsenal gets him.

Diogo? Diogo who? Anyone could explain more of him?
And about Quagliarella, sorry, but he won't get a spot. Where will we put him? He's not a lone striker, and maybe we could put him in one flank but sadly we didn't (and looks like won't) use wingers.

So if we get Dinho on-loan then Milan may also move for Udinese’s Fabio Quagliarella
The striker is not particularly content with his contract at Udinese and Carlo Ancelotti is said to have a liking for the 25-year-old Neapolitan
Negotiations on Hernanes in last stage
Asked about the rumours linking him with a summer move to Barcelona, Hernanes (23) has said in an interview with Catalan radio station RAC 1 that he will talk with his club about a transfer:
"I will ask my club to let me go because for me joining Barcelona would be a dream come true. I hope they will understand that and reduce the asking price."
Hernanes said that the offer by Barcelona made him change his plans: "Before the interest of Barcelona to sign me, I didn't plan to leave Sao Paulo. But since I received the offer of Barcelona, I changed my mind. This is a great opportunity that I cannot let slip away.
Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Barcelona will make a new offer for Brazilian international Hernanes
After a first offer of 11 million euro was rejected by Sao Paulo, who said to be only willing to talk about the buyout fee of 25 million Barcelona would now launch a second bid of 15 million euro, hoping to wrap up the deal in the end for a fee of 17-18 million euro
The paper claims that the negotiations are now in the final stage and that a deal could be closed next week
Galliani To Milan Fans: Stop Complaining
Galliani, however, believes that these protests are ridiculous, particularly when you consider that the likes of Marco Borriello, Gianluca Zambrotta and Mathieu Flamini have already been signed this summer
Despite failing to qualify for the Champions League, the club is strengthening the squad and increasing the wages. This means we’ll be 35m in the red without Berlusconi’s help
The fans should be happy, as all we’d need to do in order to wipe out or debts is sell Kaka and Andrea Pirlo. Instead they won’t move, so if that’s not a show of love for this side, I don’t know what is
Ronaldinho is not in Pep Guardiola’s plans for the new season, so that cuts the cost down a little, but the problem is his wages,” he explained
In order to meet those demands we’d have to pay next to nothing for the player himself. It all depends on Barcelona.
I can say that Ronaldinho rejected an offer from Manchester City, who were proposing twice as much as Milan
Wow, someone should remind him that he's the managing director of AC Milan, not Udinese.
I think that we will get Sheva Dinho and maybe Ferarri until the end of the summer mercato and that's it

ginoformaggino, as usual your greasy lack of style commands little effort in replying you.
I just mean that more than :v46: 900 trials in which Berlusconi :v46: was defendant actually confirm what i said. :v46:
Keep your propaganda for your little brained friends.
When you'll have spent 7 years studying in a Law School like me, i will try to take the time in replying you with juridical argumentations.
If i have a different opinion, this is not a right reason to insult or offend me, this is your habit, Giovanni, so please stop because I talked about facts, and the reality in this case said that Berlusconi is sheltering behind his political role to explain his absence at AC Milan. Yes, he put money to cover the holes in the balance, yes it's true, but what about what AC Milan gave him in terms of popularity and success? We are grateful for what he done for AC Milan, but there are 3 years that we are missing, losing or better failing the market in the summer. Plus all the mistakes made by Galliani with high contracts to players (which don't deserve them), bad acquisitions Oliveira Emerson or late repentance for Borriello: now you have a scenario that I presume to be quite real about our management acts.
So, in other words, I am a little disappointed exactly such an" X number" of other rossoneri. Where is the problem if we have a management that is really happy - assuming everybody should it be - doing nothing, but Flamini O cost, and missing the chance in this UEFA year to insert some young blood in the team especially on the flanks where we need for fast & resistance runners: this is a reason why Zambro is not that bright purchase they want we admit.
Is it so difficult to undestand? :5drunk:
and if Berlusconi chose, years ago, the football situation in order to obtain political advantages, it's all because of the lack of brain in the "calcio", it's such a faith, you have to believe and you haven't to ask to yourself nothing. Exactly what he want now from the Italians.
And being extremely clear, it was Berlusconi firstly that has used calcio for his political target.

I think we should give Sheva another chance to redeem himself and show he's sorry... we all know he went to England for the money, but I think we should give him another chance because maybe he's feeling regrets about what he did.
And if it is true that they let him go, Chelsea itself is going to have a striker shortage... I heard another report on them trying to offer for Kaka on goal.crap... they should focus on a striker and stay away from Milan players (as we've seen how they destroy our talent).
I think this transfer season is going buying, and if we buy Diogo (yes I'm going to put my chips behind this player), Ronaldinho, Ferrari (I believe he's a free agent now) and perhaps another keeper... I'll be happy...

Vote of no confidence
This Sunday will decide the immediate future of FC Barcelona. The 118,528 club members with the right to vote will decide if they support the motion of censure, which would mean the cessation of the whole Board of Directors and the convening of new elections, or, if they vote no this would allow the present Board to continue their leadership
The poll ends at 9 pm The result is expected to be known around 11 pm (local time)

I think this transfer season is going buying, and if we buy Diogo (yes I'm going to put my chips behind this player), Ronaldinho, Ferrari (I believe he's a free agent now) and perhaps another keeper... I'll be happy...
what i think is sad, is you keep lowering your standards.... zapata to ferrari.... eto'o to diogo...you shouldnt have to

I'm one step ahead...I'm hoping to resurrect interest in Rafael Sobis.

Milan
1. I gladly see you've changed the level of your previous post.
Nobody will take you away the right to criticise this management, as many others do in this discussion.
2. I'm glad finally we can have a rational debate, instead of personal attacks. You complain that i personally attacked you, but it's just what you did towards Berlusconi, in your first posts.
3. Using calcio for political purposes ? How comes? Berlusconi bought AcMilan in 1986-87 and entered in politics in 1994, far after his worldwide successes.
And even assuming you're right, there's no rule either in Constitutional Laws or in political uses that forbid it.
Don't even tell me about the "conflict of interests" because you were at the government for 2 years and did nothing to solve it. If it's so important to you, why you did nothing about it? I tell you why: you have a big political advantadge in it, because it offers you the chance to use this subject whenever you want to bash your political opposer.

Your post is so optimistic that is wunderful to hear but I'm losing my hopes!!

Galliani also said we are not done yet. I'm optimistic because my optimism is based on events that are happening. With a bit of luck though, I hope Laporta stays.

I'm not lowering my standards. Diogo is a great talent and I'm pretty impressed. Though I'd like to hear more from Brasileiro. The kid from I hear just about single handedly got his team Portuguesa promoted and has scored quite a few. So don't tell me what I should or shouldn't do. Ferrari or Zapata are fine for me.
And I'm against any vote on Berlusconi or Galliani.

ease up giancarlo. stop acting in denial. you have clearly lowered your standards, and im defending the fact you shouldnt have to. for pages upon pages you speak of eto'o, schweinstagger, zapata.....which is fine... i like them all. our arguments were really over personal preferece of highly rated payers..... but still all highly rated players.
diogo i cant make an opinion on, BUT NEITHER CAN YOU. you havent seen him play, just watched a few youtube clips, i m same. i think he could be good, but he might not also. i am skeptical, as i watch some south american football, and his name has never really came up. but on ny level he is not eto'o. ferrari, hes ok but i dont rate him as any sort of difference maker, and thats my issue. we need a few difference makers. not back ups. back ups r fine when ur irst 11 is set. but our first 11 still has a couple holes.
my point is, clearly this whole saga has forced us o chang our views and lower our standards... where as before we'd only want great players.... now people seem content with the ok players. Athletic clubs boom and bust, but to not spend is just insuting to fans. sometimes you hav to spend to get out of a hole. what gets me is how dont we have money?!? we have sold more than we've bouht last few seasons. whose mismanagement was that? why hould the fans have to suffer

Here we go again. Stop making judgments on what I have said. I'm still in favor of Zapata, and would really like Eto'o, but Eto'o wants to go to Inter I hear... NOT Milan. That's sad, but true and I've accepted that long ago. I think we should get some young Brazilian players... I do want Schweinsteiger... but I dont' think Bayern will let him go. Realistic.
I'm being realistic.
What I want is different than what could or would happen.

I'm basing my opinions based on what I hear and what I think. I'm not skeptical because young Brazilians can rise out of nowhere and we know that quite well. I have seen Portuguesa play once on TV... but that was it. I'm not saying he is on the level of Eto'o. But I'm being realistic... he's young, talented... so why not?

I'm not lowering my standards and I'm not changing my views. I have a whole variety of players I want to see play for Milan... but I've always maintained that only some of them will be bought (and some of them already have been bought... in fact 3 out of 7 players I wanted have been bought).
That's pretty darn good.
This is a business and there is a bottom line. We can't run ourselves into the red and we need to be careful. We need to spend carefully which we are doing. But to say we are not spending... that's false... and a travesty.
Our starting squad is quite good and solid, and frankly I think we need more depth (you call it back-up, I call it depth).
For one, stop trying to manipulate me in thinking the way you do and demanding the resignation of management. I will NOT think that way.

Hi every body
I want to ask , if flamini and zambrotta are presented to the fans ?
and what are their numbers ?!
another little silly question !!
what happened with RONALDINHO DEAL ?
thxx
love to all
Not sure about flamini and zambro number yet. I don't think they are officially unveiled.
Ronaldinho deal is not done.
First 22% of votes are counted, and according to this preliminary results my assumption seem true.
LAPORTA STAYS
Result it very very tight (37 % to 62 %) so it remains to be seen how would it end up until all votes are counted

it looks like Lapora lost the election and we can say goodbye to R10 if thats is true
I wonder what Galliani will say now, I guess like this "we wanted him but he is not on sale anymore' ahahaah
60% of votes are counted, and according to this preliminary results
61% are against Laporta
37% with him
two thirds of the votes should be in favour of the motion (so against the current board)
so if Laporta gets 66.7 he is out, but I hope he wins

The quorum to be officially removed is 66,6 %, so if he stays within that quorum he will remain Barca president.

He will be very lucky to stay on....wonder what Berlu and Galliani have up their sleeves?
This strategy to "wait and see" with Laporta and the board was extremely risky, and looks likely to backfire...
I can't wait to see what happens next.
Horrible, I won't watch next season if that es wears our jersey.
I can't of one thing that would make me not watch Milan.
I can't believe I'm reading this. He says WE SHOULD BE GRATEFUL BECAUCE KAKA AND PIRLO AREN'T SOLD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know.
Anyway, we can't blame the management on this specific deal, because Galliani is trying to avoid to get ripped off by Barca. Barca management has the worst position in the deal because Guardiola officially said that Ronaldinho will be sold.
In this situation it is only matter of time, and every day is in favour of Milan.
This is a classic Yearbook management case, in which Milan has the strongest contractual power. I think Milan management is acting very sensibly in this scenario, and that's what i would do if i were them.

I hear u Gio...but if Laporta loses...do we still get him? Will he still be anxious to leave? Is his relationship with the club and fans past the point of no return?
I agree that we are playing hardball, and have the stronger hand...but the election for me is/was too much of a risk...
But as I am at pains to point out on this board...they usually prove they know what they are doing, and as such deserve the benefit of the doubt.

That's a total ploy... Chelsea has categorically denied even making a bid for either of them (Skysports)...
I don't know why he said that but maybe it was to bolster his own position. I have nothing against Galliani like some around here, and I respect him and think he should stay put.
Either way, Laporta surviving the vote was critical for Milan's chances in getting Ronaldinho... the guy who could have succeeded Laporta was one that originally brought Ronaldinho to Barcelona and would not let him go. We should count ourselves very lucky.

First part... true. I agree with you. Kaka has said he has no intention of living either.
The second part... other player sales. We're also trying to sell Grimi (Argentine defender)... we have had I think roughly 40 million in player sales...
Drogba: Milan at all costs
Didier Drogba, the Ivorian Chelsea striker, wants leave the Blues at all costs. This was confirmed today by the British newspaper "The Observer". AC Milan is the most desirable destination for Drogba even though he won’t play in the Champions League. According to "The Observer", Chelsea is close to the acquisition of Samuel Eto'o, Barcelona’s striker, who is three years younger and wanted by Scolari.
http://www.calciomercato.com/index.php?c=46&a=87470
How much we can trust "The Observer" is one thing...
since someone has mentioned Quaresma alot:
"For the moment we have no official offers for Quaresma", said Porto’s president, Pinto da Costa, speaking to the Portuguese newspaper Correio de Manha, denying a possible transfer of the Portuguese player to Inter. "If he asked me to be transferred? No, I haven’t got any complaints."
Porto’s initial request, 40 million euros, has now fallen considerably, also due to the flop of the Portuguese National team coached by Felipe Scolari at Euro 2008. The deal may be closed at around 24 million.

You said it yourself---goal.CRAP
LOL. I dunno anymore.
I've just been thinking about this. If you consider the average age of our squad, most of our players probably have no more than 2 or 3 seasons left at the highest level. At the rate we are going, what's going to happen?
1) We have no GK as a long term option----in fact we have no proper short term option either.
2) Nesta will be past his prime in 2-3 years plus Maldini would have retired by then. Kaladze would be in his 30's already. Who have we got to replace them aside from Bonera. And if we keep pinching pennies in the transfer market, where are we going to find an instant, world class replacement?
3) Zambro, Oddo, Janku will also be on the way out in 2-3 years. Aside from young Antonini, we have no one, whereas a top quality signing like Alves, although expensive would guarantee stability in that role for years to come (at least 6 years)
4) Pirlo, Gattuso, Ambro---we only have Flamini who could step in and carry on. Where are we going to find the "new" Milan midfield.
5) The only stability I see, ironically, is in the forward line with Kaka, Pato, and Borriello if he proves successful.
I hope management are thinking about this because if we dont start rebuilding now, we're going to be a mid-table side for quite a few seasons (in the future of course).

We are bringing in various reinforcements, and there are other players coming in. We are starting to bring in reinforcements this season. I think we shouldn't go on mass buying sprees... I think we should be very careful... we're not going to be a mid-table side. I think we will be a top table side.
I just dont' think our side is as old as you are making it out to be. And of course there will be new Italians rising through the ranks...
I don't really view our squad as any older as the top few teams in the Serie A... like Juve or Inter... and in some cases our squad is actually getting younger...
Dude, numbers dont lie. It is not a matter of opinion how old our squad is, it is a FACT. Look at the ages of our starting 11---can you still tell me that they will be playing together in 2010 or 2011? Footballers arent immortal, time catches up on all of us and once injuries set in, the pace lets up, and form declines, we are going to be in trouble unless we have some good players ready to take over.
Who was the last Italian who shot up from our youth ranks to become a star? I dont think Paloschi has reached that level yet. Boriello hasnt either. Ever since the late 80's and mid-90's, I dont think we have had a very good record of grooming young talent through our youth system. Inter has Balotelli, Juve have Giovinco, Barca groomed young Messi to become a world class player. In recent memory, I have not seen that level of talent coming out of our youth ranks.

What grounds do you have to say any of this? For one, compare the ages. The ages between these teams are similar. And what do you mean? We won't get anyone else after some retire? I bet you we will. I think your doom and gloom tales are quite frankly misleading. And I know footballers are not immortal... Cafu and Serginho retired...
Paloschi can reach that level... there have been quite a few and many of them are actually on loan... like six or seven. You have not seen or you ignore? Abate is one of these players... I think Milan's youth academy is superior to that compared to Inters or Juves... we have Aubamanyang on loan to Dijon...
Not only that Milan's Primavera team is quite extensive... I mean as far as Juve... Giovinco.. but who else? I think Paloschi is better than Giovinco...
So respectfully disagreed.

i think our management has taken a gamble. they 'cant spend now' which is ok i suppose, they know they will ahve to in the future. its reality. I think the problem is this team we have now isnt that good. it hasnt been good enough to win serie A since 2003. Thats not an inditement on pirlo, nesta, kaka. they are all world class... but to win league you need depth and consistant performance.
my biggest problem is this team has won too much. i know it sounds crazy, but players like pirlo, gattuso etc just dont have the same fire against atalanta and siena etc. we know at full strength and full motivation they can beat anyone. but they cant keep that motivation. who can blame them. when you are used to playing european matches against barcelona and manchester united, its hard to be as 'up for the match' the following weekend at palermo. The only plaers i think who play 100% all the time are maldini and pippo, and thats in there nature.... they r a rare breed. The drop off on the bench is even worse. i'd rather have an unmotivated gattuso than a full strength brocchi (for example). How many times has seedorf shown brilliance and followed it in a game w/ absolute mediocrity.
that is why signings like pato r necessary. Young hungry WORLD CLASS potential players. this is exactly what kakas purpose was wit rui costa, only he shined so hard, he upended rui costa (a problem, i think we would all like to have again :) ) Young up and comers push the stars. it forced competition. ManUtd did that this year, with anderson, nani on giggs and scholes.
Reality is, players age, some faster than others. In my opinion gattuso doesnt have muc left. Hes lost pace. for a player not very skilled this is vital. pirlo on other hand can slow down and still be class, because skill doesnt diminish. Not everyone is paolo maldini. WE can wish, but they arent. If i look at world football.... javier zanetti, cannavaro, thuram (who lost a huge step this year btW) are only players over 35 i see who play at a top club level consistantly. (paolo and pippo still do too, but they dont have legs to play as many games)
edit: i think change is beautiful, and i hope our management embraces it more. as much as holding onto the days of pippo and paolo are great, the passing of the guard is just as great in my opinion
Giancarlo
06-07-2008, 21:30
But I'll fire back... they are spending... and will perhaps 1-2 more major signings this season... hopefully that forward we need and another goalkeeper. Pirlo is still great and isn't that old... he's just 29...
I'm all for signing young players... why I've pushed for Diogo... I think change can be dangerous if we embrace it too much... it can cause imbalances in our team and we could end up like Arsenal. I know your skeptical about Diogo... and say we haven't seen much of him. We didn't see much of Pato either before... he played like one season with Inter in Brazil. Diogo, Hernanes can be great. I do admit that a player like Seedorf is coming to the end up his career in at least a few seasons.
We were so preoccupied with the CL these last few years... now the team will have renewed focus to get one of those top positions... and that will also be important to get more money to buy players.
Expect gradual change, not revolutionary change. The next few seasons...
I think Milan's youth academy is superior to that compared to Inters or Juve.
No way better then Juve's and Inter have recently produced more then Milan.
Juve has not only produced Giovinco but Nocerino, lanzafame,Chielini,Molinaro and the list goes on. Even Inter has produced more young italians recently: Balotelli, Aquafresca, Andreoli (under 21 international before injury),Bolzoni(who i think sucks but hes a under 21 internation) and Delafiore.
Dont mean to bring down ur optimism but one must look at the facts. About Paloschi, he can be a decent player, but i doubt he will be a pheonomenon. Hes been overhyped ever since he scored that goal against Seina. But ill give him the benefit of the doubt.

You're really overestimating the others, and you are underestimating our own youth academy. Nocerino? LOL. Are you joking me? You name a few, but you don't name all of the talent coming out of Milan's academy. I'm stating the facts. Nothing less. This isn't about optimism. And your comment about Paloschi I think is absolutely ridiculous and wrong.
Recent players out of Milan's youth squad: Abate, Sammarco, Paloschi, Marzoratti, Antonini.... it's not good to produce such a one sided picture. And Paloschi has technique and speed that makes the other players you named look poor. I mean come on... Molinaro? The guy deserves to be playing for a Serie B team... he's no good. Nocerino isn't all that much either...
Milan has produced far more than Inter and a similar amount to Juve, if not more.

Well... so many players named, so many possibilities.
No hard feelings to anyone before about getting a bit personal. It's just this tension is just killing me... I just want us to acquire a striker, a defender and another keeper... at least for this transfer season.
If anything we can sell more players, like Simic (and maybe get Boruc from Celtic by selling him in a player + cash deal)... but overall, lets hope that we get our wishes.

Very true, it is a business, and like many you have to spend a little to make money and in football that is investing in talented players you can either sell or help you win trophies to gain revenue through merchandise.
Milan's problem is our operating cost, I can't remember the exact figures that the bald one spoke of but it was something like £20m loss in the next year due to lack of CL revenue. You can attribute most of this to paying massive wages on players who are little to no use to us. Sometimes I wish we were a little more frugal and like Juve in operating costs as they have long term stability.

Well, not going to the red is a key for business, but not producing at max capacity is the true problem. And not making CL is not producing at max capacity.
ANother problem is contracts, when a healthy company offer contracts, they know full well what they will be getting and if the employees underperform, they will fire them. Is Milan doing that?
I am sick of Galli saying Milan should run like a business and not dip into red, well, then fire some of those over paid players and give out proper contracts. B/c I am so sick of players like Favalli who makes three times as much as someone like Vargas.
And the fact that Galli came out and said we should be thankful we are not selling Kaka and Pirlo in order to stay afloat is just sad. B/c the last time I check, we are AC MILAN not AC GENOA.

Silly season is finally picking up steam....rumors are a swirling...and fans are again beginning to dream.
Drogba is back on the map, Wenger "admits" Arsenal is a selling club, and Milan and Adebaoyor are back on track?
R10 on a free? Who will it be? No keeper, that's almost for sure, even if we all want Dida to walk out "that" door...
About a central defender we havent heard a word, and without a new one, many feel we will end up third.
Many fans think Galliani is lazy...one thing for sure..Silly season is crazy!

According to those youtube-videos he's good? How can you say that? I'd say according to those videos he has scored three goals. I didn't see anything spectacular really. That doesn't mean the kid can't be a good player though...

It would be good if people would put up on youtube the videos of the players misses as well....for sure they would serve to temper some of the hype...
Can u imagine a youtube video of Adebayor and Oliviera's many many many misses?
Were I Galliani, I would surrepitously send an email link to Wenger of the sitters Adebayor has missed, and see if his price plummets...
Wenger also made a mistake (or shrewd negotiation ploy :dontkn: ) when he admitted: Arsenal are a selling club.
Can't wait to see how this week unfolds.

2- you've been smoking something you shouldn't have.

Leonardo has basically said the same thing as Galliani (about being poor, wanting Drogba/Adebayor), except when he says it it doesn't sound so desperate! It still has an air of respectability to it.

wow.. finally an Argentinian linked to us !! i thought they just interest to go to Inter ^^
http://www.transfermarketweb.com/?action=read&idsel=20071
I dont know how his style would translate to Serie A, but the guy is a bull. He isnt much of a scorer, but makes things happen. He is strong and relentless, giving his all during 90 minutes. But I dont think he is Milan material just yet. He isimilar to Tevez in the sense that he is loved by fans because of his work rate and sacrifice. Neither one is a pure goal scorer, with Tevez being better technically, with better on ball skills.
Bergessio was part of one of the most memorable Copa Libertadores' match in recent history, taking River Plate out with 2 goals.
For some reason, he failed in Europe (Benfica) although he never got a real shot.
All in all, I dont consider this rumour serious.

Possibly. I don't particular care what nation a footballer is from as long as they are actually good. We shouldn't be buying players just because they come from a good nation that we have an obsession with. Yes Brazil produce good footballers, but doesn't mean we should go snapping up every Brazilian (ie Gomez), they same applies for other counties of similar stature. IMHO we should have an Italian core surrounded by quality players like Kaka, best of both defence and offence, hopefully hungry to win players and not just hungry.... (Ronaldo)

silly season is insane, yesterday stop complaining we're broke. today 30 mil for adebayor. Personally i'd rather spend 20 or so on ronaldinho and sign a young striker, but thats just my inner dinho/kaka fetish coming out.
just imagine the xmas tree played to perfection. not w/ seedorf too lazy to run, but now we'd have 2 AMs who require multiple defenders. It really wouldnt be different than what barca ran in 2005/2006. It was never really a pure 4-3-3, ronaldinho is not a winger...now if only we could add a little more creativity to midfield

Just a question...do any of you also support a team that is in lower division/local team/out of the spotlight?
I follow a team called SV Austria Salzburg which is a 5th division team in Austria, they were formed after red bull bought out the originial austria salzburg; i am a voting member of it, they play in a stadium of about 1500...just a big difference from following milan in terms of silly season, and all the rest. they are my guilty pleasure i suppose!

If we are going to splash out some big cash, IMO, we should get a quality defender. Don't get me wrong, a striker is VERY MUCH needed. But in the ballpark of 30m euros, Adebayor is a huge gamble since they are basing this on one season in the Premiership (Yes, the "we dont play D" Premiership).
Take that money and get some quality in the back, Sergio Ramos comes to mind. A LOT has been put on getting a quality striker but I think we all forget, we really need a central defender to accompany Nesta. With ??LB??--Nesta--Quality CD--Zambro we'd be set barring any injuries. I think everyone forgets how pitiful the back was this year. I just think i'd rather them go heavier on D and still get a quality striker for less than the big names. Thoughts?

yes, but in sports, most franchises are run into the red. Granted you never want to be in the red like manchester united or liverpool. But as long as they are successful the VALUE of the club remains high, and thats all that reallly matters.
If the glazers sold Manchester United today, even with gigantic debt and interest, there would be ALOT of interest to buy, because they r such a branded name. AC Milan would be same if berlusconi decided to sell. That is why debt isnt that important to club of Milan's stature
edit: but sidetracked; I compeltely agree with you there are a number of players on our books who we NEED to drop there contracts. Regardless of what we get inreturn.... brocchi, emerson... you all know the names

But if you let debt pile up and you start borrowing to pay for players it can become a problem. That's why I view Liverpool as perhaps one of the most problematic in European football... they are managed extremely poorly.
Yes, I admit I want to see major signings... and the fact that it appears that we revived our run for Adebayor and outbid Barcelona seems to be encouraging... if we could sign Adebayor and Ronaldinho I would be a very happy person. Ronaldinho looks more likely than ever because of the fact that Laporta is staying...

I've read he has scored a few for his club in Brazilian Serie A... like 4 in 8 games...
http://www.goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=764687
He starred for Portuguesa, destroying defenses right and left on his way to netting 29 goals with 18 in 24 games in the league. These statistics were good enough to earn him the honour of being the top scorer in the Serie B for that season. He was consequently named the best player in Serie B by the FBA. His goal scoring helped Portuguesa to finish third and gain promotion to the Brazilian top division. Currently, he has already scored four goals in eight games in the top flight.

Not gonna quote your post, because it becomes repetitive...but in response. Yeah we dont ever want to be in a liverpool-like situation. but i read alot of posts from people, (warro for example) applauding management for not wanting debt, and its getting kind of ridiculous. milan has ran debt before, and will again in the future. Its part of football business, it goes through cycles. you never want it out of control, but we arent in danger of that anytime soon.
Whats more important is keeping your club on top and winning. Keeping the value high. See comparing milan to lazio or leeds financially is ridiculous, because milans name carries way more weight. AC Milan is a branded name. Any football aficionado will list milan in a list of top 10 most prestigious clubs in the world. If berlusconi wanted to sell milan, alot of rich men all around the world would jump the opportunity, regardless of Milans debt.

Leonardo hopes for Prem purchase
Monday 7 July, 2008
Milan technical director Leonardo claims that the Rossoneri are still chasing Premier League stars Didier Drogba and Emmanuel Adebayor.
The world champions’ striker hunt has been derailed somewhat by the vast price tags on some of their targets.
While Vice-President Adriano Galliani has confessed that the Diavolo are short of funds, Leonardo is more optimistic.
“It’s no secret that we’re interested in signing a forward and we are looking at candidates,” he told BBC Sport.
“Drogba is a fine player and I really like Adebayor. We are just waiting for the right time to make a move.”
However, Leonardo did conclude by accepting that finance may be a problem if they want to land one of Europe’s sought-after marksmen.
“We have to accept that the incomes of the top English and Spanish teams are greater than they are in Italy and it’s very hard for us to compete,” he admitted.
“But we can offer other things. We have a first-class environment for players and a wonderful history.”

Exactly what I was thinking when I read this.

Seems like they're waiting till later on hoping that maybe someone snatches one of the African strikers and the others might be let go from their teams on the cheap. i.e Eto goes to Chelsea...we'd pounce on Drobga. Makes sense.

I'm with you on that one... and I think once Ronaldinho is in better shape... Kaka and Ronaldinho would be killer on the field... but I still want one more real CF...
When a club sells its players, they aim high and usually get a compromise on that.
As far as Leonardo, I think he's the one who is working behind the scenes, and Galliani simply is a spokesman... though I'm sure Leonardo is telling him to keep his mouth shut right now.

You're really overestimating the others, and you are underestimating our own youth academy. Nocerino? LOL. Are you joking me?
No im not Joking, hes an Under 21 International who just got called up the Olympics and was a regualr starter at the begining of Juves season and did quiet well. Again im pointing out facts. While Nocerino gets called up to the olympics, Paloschi is nowhere to be seen.
And Paloschi has technique and speed that makes the other players you named look poor.
Then why isnt he being called up, or praised by any other Managers, Pundits or players in Serie A besides Galliani?
I mean come on... Molinaro? The guy deserves to be playing for a Serie B team... he's no good.
I agree hes nothing special but as of right know is the only promising Italian Left back.
Milan has produced far more than Inter and a similar amount to Juve, if not more.
Not Recently.
Again i admire all your Optimism, but some Critisicm is due. Its a forum and you cant just jump on everyone who critisizes. U expect everyone to be all jolly and praiseworthy?
Most people are realistic and just as praise is due when a club wins a big competition, critiscim is also due when a team doesnt perform well. If u can conjugate something good out of Milans season which just passed, then u have below average expectations of a club who just won the biggest futbaling competition last season.

PAloschi has been called up for Italy's u-19 team and according to wikipedia (take it as you wish) he has had 6 appearances with 2 goals. He has made international presences... but he's just 18 years old. He'll be better. Nocerino is overrated.
Nocerino is also 23 years old... and Paloschi is 18.

And recently, yes Milan has produced more youth talent than either Inter or Juve. I mention some names in my previous posts.

07-07-2008, 14:16
this is true. Most people will agree fiorentina and juve have by far the most young italian talent RIGHT NOW. Cheillini, giovinco alone should seal juve. Lazafame looks promising but nocerino, molinaro arent bad. more progressed than sammarco and antonini. Fiorentina have montolivo (would LOVE him at milan), osvaldo. Infact if you're gonna sight antonini and sammarco who are both 26. you'd have to count gambarini, donadel and well.... half or fiorentinas team who r 24-26.
that being said milan does have some promise in its youth system.
From what ive read darmian is considered a highly promising defender, albertazzi is another highly rated defender in the primavera. Di gennaro is highly thought of. I look forward to watching him at genoa this season! Of course abate too. We shall see milan has invested more into its youth system in last 2 seasons than its first team.

Nocerina is overrated and Paloschi isnt with his 6 caps, LOL.

You're comparing apples and oranges, and making some very unfair comparisons. Paloschi's pace is quite superb.
And who has praised Paloschi other then then Obvious? Nocerino was sought after by many mid table clubs, I cant say the same about Paloschi. Hes no Balotelli so stop making him one. He hasnt played enough games to get all the praise ur giving him.
there has been quite a bit of praise for paloschi in the Italian media. Paloschi has also been sought after by several clubs. I never said he was a Balotelli, but he may be a great striker in the future. And your attacks and criticisms are unfair and just flat out improper.
Do you want the kid to just disappear as a talent because you seemingly don't like him because I praise him?
And overprasing a kid who hasnt done or proved nothign out of the ordinary.
I'm not overpraising anyone! NOT ANYONE. I think he has a bright future and I WILL NOT BACK DOWN FROM THAT.
I'm not overpraising anyone! NOT ANYONE. I think he has a bright future and I WILL NOT BACK DOWN FROM THAT.
Noone knows how good he is yet because he hasnt played regulary or done anything extrodinary besides that one goal against Siena. If he is as great as u make him out to be then in a couple years he will show signs, but as of know there is no point in overhyping him.
Giancarlo, I'm officially warning you. Asking people in the open that "Are you a juve fan" is an insult. You have done it more than once and I honestly have enough of it. You do not need to take it personally when people attack your post. Instead you go on to attack the poster.
Take this as an official warning and if you commit similar offense again in the future, it will result in a temporary or a permanent ban.
Jeff
giancarlo I'm glad you said that Paloschi is fast....I'm not that good a judge on speed....but what I do know is that speed is abhorrently absent in our squad save Pato and kaka...is he like super fast (Totti, Eto'o, Henry) or is he just reasonably fast (i.e faster than most) ?
Thanks.

:grinser: hahaha, good one
I can't believe that some people here said that Molinaro is a good player.
He's like the worst player.....ever.
He runs more than anyone else, i admit that, but his ball control, his positioning and especially his crosses are the worst i've seen in a long long time.
Nocerino is a player i can't stand. He's ok, but there is something about the way he plays that i really dislike. He's like a twin brother of the 22 years old Gattuso. You remember the young Gattuso ? We were all like, WTF is this guy doing in football.
Nocerino is also bad with the ball but he's a fighter and a solid DMC that could develop in the future. He's now the captain of the olympic team.
Good luck to him in Palermo but i can't say i'm disappointed he left Juve.
As for the youth players debate, Giancarlo, you shouldn't be mad when they say Juve have the best youngsters. It's not Milan's fault at all. Moggi (legally, but more with illegal methods) secured like a half of the talented youngsters in Italy. Of course, Juve now have bigger choice than the other teams. The last two youth teams (especially this last u21 team) is consisted of many Juve players (Giovinco, Marchisio, Criscito, De Ceglie, Lanzafame) but it has to do with Moggi's work in the past. In the future things will most probably change.
Inter are doing the best in this department lately. I think they won the last 2 primavera championships, right ?
As for Milan, they aren't doing very well lately but i think Paloschi will make it and will become a star in Italy. The boy isn't at the olympics simply because he's only 18 and the players that will play in China are 21/22/23 years old. But he's the best player of the Italian u19 team.

I dunno about anyone else here but more than the lack of a world class signing which galliani promised last year and this year (and yes pato is in my own opinion going to be world class but wasnt exactly the signing he was talking) the thing thats bothering me most is why wont he just shut up about it now and stop whining every 5 seconds about it...if we really cant afford a world class player (which i have opinions on but really its probably all been said before) than so be it but can he please stop embarrassing us every chance we get by either stating we getting a world class player and then retracting it like 127 times or claiming ppl are making ficticious bids for our players...honestly its like he's trying to get ppl into feeling sorry enough for us that they'll give us their players out of pity...yeah i can just imagine laporta or wenger or abromovich reading the headlines and start feeling their heartstrings getting tugged and thinking about giving him a midnight call offering ronaldinho or drogba for free..freaking idiot..
i understand the frustration that led to the petition against silvio but will someone, anyone please start 1 to ask galliani to please shut up and stop embarrassing our club, its players and its fans...
though it still boggles my mind how he can claim that cause we not in the champions league we cant afford world class players and that somehow we gonna make it back there while winning leagues, uefa cups without quality investments...this is from the same man who spent 13 mil on ricardo oliveira and got us the 'puma' in elephants clothes....i'm still waiting for a public apology on that i must say...

Strange many of you dont seem to rate Nocerino, I liked him alot at the start of the season until he was dropped to the bench. Paloschi is definitely one for the future, but by no means did his performances earn him a millionaire contract just yet...he has alot left to prove but he is on his way. He definitely was better than Gilardino though, definitely, but I do not know if that says much.
Rumours on Adebayor are back, and some rumours on Drogba. Rumours on Eto'o will come back soon too and all these rumours will keep going and coming until mid-August when we finally sign Ronaldinho for 18m :D

He's like the worst player.....ever.
He runs more than anyone else, i admit that, but his ball control, his positioning and especially his crosses are the worst i've seen in a long long time.
Even if they play in different positions: he is your Brocchi:tong:. Every team has one, and I reached the conclusion that every team needs one (team's mascot, people bent their frustration on them-sometimes not fairly-, it gives hope to youngsters that "if he is there, I can be there too", and their probably good team players, the type you need in a group).
Nocerino is a player i can't stand. He's ok, but there is something about the way he plays that i really dislike. He's like a twin brother of the 22 years old Gattuso. You remember the young Gattuso ? We were all like, WTF is this guy doing in football.
Young Gattuso was so bad, I remember that I loathed him more than anyone else in the team (and we had really bad and loathable players in that team). He just didn't understand the basics in football which was frustrating to watch.
As for Milan, they aren't doing very well lately but i think Paloschi will make it and will become a star in Italy. The boy isn't at the olympics simply because he's only 18 and the players that will play in China are 21/22/23 years old. But he's the best player of the Italian u19 team.
We produce a lot, the problem is the quality of what we produce is more than anything good players for mid-low table teams. Though I believe in Abate and even Di Gennaro (apart from Paloschi).
As for Sobis, since he arrived to Betis...he has done nothing. He has done nothing with the brazilian NT too, so for now, the veredict would be negative on him. If we buy him now, we will look worse (weak) than ever in our rivals eyes, considering the first points, and the fact that we wanted him 2 years ago when he was more acceptable and couldn't get him from Betis (that's not to say Betis are not the best to do negotiations with...they will look for any way to take away as many euros as possible).
On the other hand reading that Napoli could get in negotiations for Hamsik, and that his cost isn't too out of reach, that's one we should look for, we won't, but we should.

We would hope that they should just stay as a bench warmer lol.
According to those youtube-videos he's good? How can you say that? I'd say according to those videos he has scored three goals. I didn't see anything spectacular really. That doesn't mean the kid can't be a good player though...
yes, actually i never see this man playing before, probably would turn out to be a good player but not close the possibility that he becomes another Oliviera's case. well at least in that vids guy is be able to score. that's a good thing :D
meanwhile instead of getting the best player, we linked with rumour about losing our best player :rollani: hope just another silly rumour, one smart move from Galiani by rejected the offer at the 1st time ^^

Pretty quiet day at the forum today.
Okay, so I guess Galli can't use the excuse of too bad Laporta did not get re-elect or we could sign R10. Lets see how that goes. Personally, I don't mind R10 not coming, but I do mind the MGT kept going on about signing R10 and end up with nothing.
They should really learn to keep their mouth shut.
What is going on with Zapata and Hernanes? MIlan must do something.
Anybody know what the situation is about Santa Cruz ???
Is he available ???
If so whats his price ???
Well you're French so I'll trust your opinion....but I'm guessing the Liverpool Scouts must have seen something in him I mean he is creative, fast, strong, has a good shot....I'm not sure how clinical he is as I haven't been watching him recently but what's wrong with him??
He just didn't improve as expected ... anyway, who knows ... with such a potential when you're young, you can become an excellent player even after some years in bad form but I have doubts for him. Liverpool took him but killed some parts of his talent by putting him on the bench of the bench lol !!
In the same case, you have Le Tallec ...
Gazzetta dello Sport says Milan are sending Italian super agent Enzo Bronzetti to Barcelona in order to test the water over the prospect of taking Ronaldinho on-loan for the new season.
Despite Barca's recent reluctance, Milan are convinced the time is ripe for such a proposal with president Joan Laporta struggling to hold into power at the Nou Camp
According to Tuttosport, AC Milan are completely unconvinced by the ability of Marco Borriello and are already considering offloading the striker
Tuttosport says that another painful divorce between the two parties is inevitable, and coach Carlo Ancelotti clearly does not fancy Borriello, who he believes will be just another Alberto Gilardino.

I can understand that. One season with 19 goals doesn't make him a star. If you compare him to how Gilardino was before he came to Milan, Borriello is a nobody. Gilardino's statistics were far better and over a longer period of time. I won't expect too much contribution from Borriello really. But of course I hope he can do well if he stays...

it bothers me the board hasnt asked for his resignation yet. Something is up with that Board? What board are u talking about here bro? :D
There is no board...there is only really Berlu...if there even is a board, its there to say "Yes sir Berlusconi" and not much else.
Have u forgotten the ownership structure of our club? :dontkn:
Galliani stays (like it or not) until Berlu decides to replace him.
I for one agree that he "talks" too much....but having been around for several mercatos, he tends to get what he/Berlu is after.
If Milan go on to win a "treble" this year, with one or two of R10, Adebayor or Drogba, how many of us will recall the machinations of this mercato?
YEAY Dunga called up Rafael Sobis to the Olympics :3band: Hope he doesn't pull a Quaresma and play carp there :embarass:
I heard the Carlo isn't impressed with Borriello (sorry I think the post above me talks about it too).....Poor Carlo he never gets the players he wants and is expected to always turn water into wine.....then when he fails people call for Mourinho :wallbang:
Carlo wanted
Sobis, Toni, Trez, Totti (2+ years ago) and Ribery
So far we got Emerson, Borriello, Olivera...our only decent signing being Pato
Nocerina is overrated and Paloschi isnt with his 6 caps, LOL.
If you can't imagine such a simple concept as a 18 year old player against a 23 year old player in the football world, then it is hard to debate with you. now tell us what Nocerino did when he was 18. In fact Paloschi was only 17 when he debuted.
And who has praised Paloschi other then then Obvious? Nocerino was sought after by many mid table clubs, I cant say the same about Paloschi. Hes no Balotelli so stop making him one. He hasnt played enough games to get all the praise ur giving him.
Nocerino is seen as a transer for those clubs as he is not deemed good enough for Juve. Paloschi will at most be loaned out from MILAN because he is deemed to good to lose. that with his 5 years less in experience. I wouldn't be surprised if Paloschi have a better career than the overhyped Balotelli. Hell, a 18 year odl getting playing time in our Milan enviroment is amazing enough.
And your overpraising a kid who hasnt done or proved nothing out of the ordinary.
scored a goal per game for the allevi nazionale. top scorer in the primavera. Scores in most U-19 games he play and already 4 goals with the senior team while barerly being 18. Scoring on his debute both in copa and A.
And name me a youngster that Italy have besides Nocerino for the LB position. Since u know so many.
Pretty much every LB in Italy is better than Nocerino. I bet most of the serie B ones are too. :D
I can't believe that some people here said that Molinaro is a good player.

Italian U-19 team had 4 Milan players starting for them. although the one year younger Albertazzi don't start all games.
Is anyone else concerned about the fact that Pato will be going to the Olympics? We REALLY need to have a blazing start to the campaign and I feel like he is such a vital part of that; good experience for him yes, but how much do you think it could disrupt our preseason bonding and into the start of the season?

I would be willing to bet anything that this is a complete and utter lie.
I also find it extremely hard to believe. After all, Milan didn't have to pay such a big amount to get him back. I am not a huge Borriello fan, so I really don't mind him leaving or staying. But if he would leave like this "report" suggests, I would resent the administration even more. :w163:

Even if this is true, then Tuttosport would know nothing of it. We aim to buy a striker because we only have three right now. that is counting on the Paloschi loan being in effect. With Pato missing a part of the season it is vital to have another striker available. Of course if we buy Ronaldinho, which seems likely, then that may be instead of a striker. In that case we will most likely evaluate Borriello after this season and possibly bring in someone else. (Johan foams at mouth as he thinks about Benzema.) ;)
Scolari has spoken to Drogba and reported that they had a very positive chat. He was also quoted as saying that Drogba is 200% part of his plans for next season, so unless Didier has a desire to join us, he'll probably stay at Chelsea after all.
It was on Sky News & BBC.
So realistically, who does that leave us with? If we weren't in real need of a striker before, any truth in Boriello's alledged departure will only make us even more desperate.

it is a legitimate concern. We wont bring ronaldinho or adeyabor or anyone "BIG" until late august when the season is already underway. We'll have to start the season in the famed xmas tree w/ kaka and seedorf in AM roles
PLEASE don't make jokes like that. I'd give anything to see Kaka play behind two strikers for the whole of next season. That way his free role doesn't leave the team unbalanced as it does in the Christmas tree formation. I'm referring to when he drops deep and leaves the lone striker isolated as happened quite a bit last season.
Milano84
08-07-2008, 11:08
i'm not namking a joke of it but the xmas tree can work if he's supported with some1 equally as dangerous and running as much. xmas tree is essentially a 4-3-3 without true wingers. Its not different than what barca ran when they won CL. but for the xmas tree to work. we need the other AM to run and create more so teams cant mark out kaka.... we need more creative forces from midfield, and a lone striker who knows how to work in the box.
If you look at barca's team that season they didnt have as many good players as they did last year. but they were a far better team. if you look they had ronaldinho on 1 side roaming free. Then guily was mostly the winger on the otherside (with messi at times, however he wasnt establisheD) what both these players did though that seedorf doesnt do anymore is nonstop running at defenders. Then they had an inform eto'o upfront. another notable point is when they needed a goal, or more goalscoring prowless they had the exerienced larrson to come in.
However equally as important to look at was there midfield. There midfield ussually consisted of deco, passing creatively from a more deepset position than he does w/ portugal or he did w/ porto. Xavi and Iniesta rotated the 2nd midfield stop, again running at defenders, but defending as well (playing a more box to box CM type role) Finally edmilson was there sole defensive influence.
I think we still lack a couple players to run this formation fully effectively. Although at times it makes sense to play w/ 2 DMs. more times than not, especially against majority of the serie A teams who r defensive, we need more attacking prowless and flair. Under the last couple years, its been way too much pressure on kaka for creativty and running, and quite frankly you can point to this as to why gilardino didnt succeed long term either... as well as to why itll be difficult to borriello

That was a big problem for us, because we sucked in the middle and it got all congested; then we'd just boot it up and it was hopeless. With only ambro and rino on the outside, we didn't exactly have a bunch of creativity on the wings, that is why it was easy for teams to come to SS, pack it in, and get a result.
I don't know if that will change this year; however, if we do get players who run alot we can be successful with the old formations, if you watch from early carlo years the play was fast as hell and we steamrolled. Then we won everything and got complacent :(

sold Oliviera (12 mil) gilardino (15 mil), loaned out gourcuff, other loan, coownership deals making money....
signed
flamini on a free (with a subsiquent gigantic contract, upsetting players like pirlo), zambrotta (9 mil), boriello (7 mil), recalled igazio abate (who may get reloaned), luca antonini, christian abiatti
so far we've sold more than spend on. Galliani wont shut up about how broke we are, told the fans to stop complaining and consider ourselves lucky to keep kaka and pirlo and has basically gone back on everything berlu and him promised springtime when we were plummetting.
Still we've been linked heavily to adebayor, and to a lesser degree drogba. Most likely aquisition will be ronaldinho.
No new GK, no more defenders
edit"; when i write it all out, it just angers me more so at management

i still think its more personnel than formation. we were fast as hell cause we were younger. pirlo at 25 moved better. gattuso at 25 was an animal. seedorf at 26 was the IDEAL box to box CM. we also had the likes of rui costa on the bench (deco would have been a great signing but he's old... so i'm gonna push again joao moutinho... the next in the line of rui costa, deco). upfront we had sheva, inzaghi and crespo. just better squad, younger, faster. management has gotten lazy cheap whatever you call it. Thats why.... oh i dunno, half this forum hasbeen calling for younger faster players

We lost quite a bit of money by not qualifying for the CL... I think there were at least be 2-3 more players acquired... perhaps not a GK, but the all important striker. Our problem in the season wasn't really the goalkeeper, but rather the strikers...
I'd listen to Leonardo instead... he's the one that works behind the seasons. We'll get another forward...

Milan084... you may get your wish regarding Borriello according to goal.crap and tuttosport (crap too) :)
http://www.goal.com/en-US/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=767924
According to Tuttosport, AC Milan are completely unconvinced by the ability of Marco Borriello and are already considering offloading the striker.
.....
Tuttosport says that another painful divorce between the two parties is inevitable, and coach Carlo Ancelotti clearly does not fancy Borriello, who he believes will be just another Alberto Gilardino.

I question the source... I think this story was probably made-up and Milan will give him a chance... if anything there will be pre-season games so Borriello will have to prove himself then too... I mean I remember Pato scoring his first goal for Milan in one of those... I think against a Ukraine side...

so this is summer mercato OT, but since this is forum people check most i thought i'd post some interesting statistics.
Can anyone name the only 2 players in a major league to score over 15 league goals and 10 assists?
Kaka and berbatov. Berbatov had 15 goals, 11 assists. If you count FA and UEFA Cup it's 20 and 12. If only he was younger... he is such class though.
interesting enough though Cristiano Ronaldo scored 31 league goalswith 7 assists. Last season he had 17 goals and 14 assists.
Next closest to reaching the 15-10 mark is Zlatan who had 17 goals and 9 assists. Di Natale also got 17 goals and 7 assists. Diego of werder bremen had 13 goals and 10 assists in shorter bundesliga season.... season before it was 13 and 13. He would actually be a much much better signing than ronaldinho because he is 23?! Also of italian decent.
For everyone who overrated rooney, i actually quite like him. 12 goals in epl last year, 13 assists. Season before it was 14 and 11.
en Espana, Kun Aguero and messi were quite dynamic statistically. Aguero with 19 goals and 7 assists. Messi with 10 goals and 12 assists (overlooked)
Finally not to bash pato, but lately i've been thinking he isnt a support striker, the more i watch him (FCS has been replaying lots and lots of games... i get to relive juve and roma pains) he scored 9 goals with only 1 assist. but beyond that as i watch him, hedoesnt involve his team mates as much as.... other supporting strikers or AM. Perhaps he is more of an out and out striker than we all realize. My feeling is he'll 1 day become like Ronaldo for brazil, and lead there line... but he needs time to get there. Anyway my point with this statement is maybe, an out and out striker isnt what we need. maybe another creative force who can score, along w/ another midfielder is more of a need.

yeah the minute i saw tuttosport i printed the article and used it for what it is.... toilet paper. If we signed another dynamic striker (1 capable of playing support and lead the line... like i dunno... BERBATOV?! or maybe even quagliarella?) i think he has so much better chance to succeed. Sheva Moves Closer To Milan
Andriy Shevchenko could be edging closer to a loan move to former club Milan after the Daily Mil reported that new Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari wants to sell the Ukrainian.

Shevchenko had seven brilliant seasons with Milan from 1999 to 2006, scoring 127 goals in just 208 games, and winning virtually every major honour on offer.
In 2006 he moved to Chelsea for a whopping €45m, however he has had two miserable years at Stamford Bridge, and is well known to be desperate to move back to Italy.
The 32-year-old has been heavily linked with a move back to the Rossoneri, but it is believed that the Italians are only willing to take him back on a loan basis.
The Daily Mail today claims that Shevchenko is not part of new Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari’s plans, and the Brazilian has given the club the green light to offload him.
With this in mind, it is now looking increasingly possible that Sheva could indeed return to Milan on loan, in a similar move that saw Hernan Crespo spend the last two seasons on loan at Inter.

Actually Diego does play well with Kaka.....you might be on to something there Milano84....but there's one problem...he might be too good a fit*
Diego is like a mini Ronaldinho with a better work ethic but FAR less pace. Ronnie might only be a step behing Kaka (on peak form) but Diego might need to hop a bus to catch up to either. Still faster than Seedorf/Pirlo though :D AND GREAT free kick taker too.....a welcome addition :5ok:
At least we have seen Diego and Kaka play well (Gold Cup where Kaka captained an U-19 Brazil to the final where they lost due to Robinho's wastefullness and the high altitude Bra0-Mex1). I can't remember Ronaldinho playing/ linking up well with either Ronaldo or Kaka :googly:
*A player who might do us perfect and might be the missing link to making u s great again.....such players may fit into a role that is sorely lacking....Huntelaar/Gomez at ST, Zapata at CB, Quaresma at L/RWM, Cigarini at CM, D.Alves at RB or Boruc at GK......these players are never even menbtioned by management

slight correction to your post dru: zapata and boruc have actually been mentioned by management. Management told carlo you wont be getting them.
you are right on diego, that was always my knock on him. and while now its ok, in 5 years he'll slow down. Perhaps he steps into a pirlo type role (read deeplying play maker; reaD: too lazy to run). Does diego play defense, I cant remember.... yes i agree, he catches my eye consistantly for brazil

Diego lack of pace is not noticed as he is a player who lets the ball do the work... he is one of the best midfielders out there and would put pressure on Pirlo and Seedorf for a spot in the starting 11... if only those 2 big coward would loosen up n take risks... we did not take in risks last summer n now we are in uefa cup...if we dont take any this summer we might end up in the B league.

i just feel like chelsea wont do it on principle of getting ripped off so bad
I don't think we're going to get a new GK, we're too locked in with Dida's contract and i think the team thinks Kalac is ok, Galliani has stated a few times that a new GK won't be happening.
We've got a solid defense which i think can be fine as it is for this year...
I'm just not sold on our creativity in the midfield with Kaka' coming back from injury and Pirlo having another busy summer. He needs to go to a spa for like 6 months and chill, he's been busting ass for so long. We just looked bereft of ideas last year; that's not going to change this year, because the formation won't change. A new player might help on that front, someone to add a different dimension. I'm not super optimistic.
Pato has to be quicker in releasing the ball and making smart passes; he was exciting to watch last year because he didn't have a problem running at defenders, but he needs to add the ability to make smarter and quicker passes. that will come with time and i'm sure he'll be great at it, and so that will add to his assists. Borriello scored 6 of his 19 goals in 2 games; he has to prove his consistency across the season, but i don't know if carlo will give him the chance, although if nobody else comes and with pato out at the start he might get it by default. i'm already excited for the season, i don't care how we do i just want to see our guys play with a fire in the hearts.

i completely agree with you on midfield. it has been our strong point for so long, but its gotten old. its not realistic to expect them to run all season that hard. they showed last season they couldn't. Plus it lacks creativity. The real crime is we have emerson and brocchi. 2 spots who could go to young COMPETENT players to challenge our midfield and relieve them. too bad gorky didnt pan out.
as for our defense. it was by far our weakest point last year, and all we've brought is zambro. If oddo bounces back, janku bounces back, kaladze has a good campaign, nesta stays injury free, and bonera continues to improve like end of last year we'll be ok. but thats alot of IFs...

If oddo bounces back, janku bounces back, kaladze has a good campaign, nesta stays injury free, and bonera continues to improve like end of last year we'll be ok. but thats alot of IFs... As is mathematically the case when an "IF" is followed by a "THEN" it's always better.....Ronaldo's half season was very good so we said "If Ronaldo continues in that manner we'll win it all" But here was no contingency...i.e. no "then"...the "then" was usually "we're screwed"
The same is the case this season....we may do well:
1)IF Dida/Kalac regains form..if not then what?
2)IF Pato remains uninjured and keeps improving..if not then what?
3)IF Borriello can somehow reproduce the Genoa form..if not then what?
4)IF Zambrotta can roll back the years and play like he did in Juve ..if not then what?
The answers to 1-4 are all "THEN we're screwed"...and they are exacerbated by other issues as Kaka's health, Pirlo/Seedorf's fluctuating form, the strength of the defensive midfield......all of which my equation already assumes will be productive as we generally have grown accustomed to.
In summary a good season is definitely a possibility at the moment...however without reducing the risks or at least adding contingency (e.g. a worthy backup for any of Pato, Seedorf, Kaka or Pirlo) -another mid-table worthy performance is highly probable

I think we are on our way of signing a new striker... whether it be one from South America, or one of the big names mentioned... there was another bid put in for Adebayor. It seems that Adebayor is unwilling to accept what Arsenal is offering him as far as wages... and Arsenal will be forced to lower prices.
As far as a new keeper, as I said I think we should be alright for now, but should look into a new one in the winter transfer window regardless.
I find it hard to believe that Milan will pass up the opportunity that was given by the opening of another Non-EU spot...
I think we have a good season ahead of us... and I just think we need to add a bit more depth as far as strikers are concerned. Our defense will be quite solid... I really think it wasn't the goalkeeping or defense that was the problem the previous season, but the issue with strikers... remember Gilardino...
I'm still in favor of at least two signings... if we can't get another defender or goalkeeper now that's fine. That can be done later... but, we need at least a striker and an attacking midfielder... and with two non-EU spots open I find it hard to believe that Milan will pass that up. After all... Brazil is a big market to shop in... and last I heard Cafu is our new scout there...

To win league requires consistancy. the number 1 thing we've lacked. We can beat anyone anyday but we dont consistantly. That is why inter won last 2 scudettos. They grind out wins against everyone theyre suppose to. I think we need 4 signings... in this order of importance

Hello, this is a piece I just wrote and posted on another forum (XT) a few minutes ago, and I thought I would share it with you all here. It is about "a day of my life." Bear with me as I am clumsy at writing. Just for fun, well, if you could find anything that amuses you.
----------
[9am] [Home]
- "Hey, my friend. We are going to have a fantastic dinner together today. I just got a check of $200."
- "Really? You told me the same thing yesterday, and we almost ate poop in the end."
- "This time, 180% sure. Don't you trust me, you ingrates? I thought that you have been a friend with me for the past 20 years."
- "Whatever, man. What can I do? I am a loyal friend, and you are the one that has money anyway."
[12pm] [in the street]
- "Why are we coming out so early? The lunch time isn't over yet. Are we looking for a dinner?"
- "You know, my friend. Good meals are gone quickly, so we better start early and find them. Trust me, I have a plan."
[1pm] [Building#1 on Landon Avenue]
- “Good afternoon, we would like to buy a nice meal from you.”
- “Back off, this is not a restaurant. All meals we have are for ourselves. We don’t sell.”
- “But I thought we are friends. I gave you a great meal for almost nothing just two days ago.”
- “So? You were stupid. I don't have to be like you. And, we didn’t enjoy the meal you gave us at all. Now get off my property.”
- "well, can't say I was disappointed. I kind of expected that. It is just that I promised my friend that I would try."
[2pm] [Building#2 on Landon Avenue]
- “Hello. We would like to .. Run, there is a dog coming at us. Run!”
- "Whew, that was a close one. Do they hate us or something?"
- "Maybe we should consider ourselves lucky. that building looks like an arsenal. At least they didn't fire at us."
[wandering on the street and knocking on random doors]
[4pm] [Restaurant on Barbeque Road]
- “Hello, we want to have Roast beef.”
- "That would be $1000."
- "What? Are you kidding me? At this price, no one can afford it. The market is going crazy."
- "well, but you know, it used to be the Roast of the Year, and the price was much higher. Wait, didn't you call before? yesterday? two days ago? You should know better. Now that this Roast might have a bit more fat on it, that's why you are looking at a reduced price already. And if you don't want to pay, that's fine, we know that there is another MAN in the CITY who is willing to pay for that full amount."
- "I want you to know that we are very interested in having this Roast, but I don't think we will pay more than $100. We are very sincere, so please think about it. But we will not pay more than $100 for it."
- "Good day, sir."
[wandering on the street and knocking on more random doors]
[6pm] [The same restaurant on Barbeque Road]
- "Hello, I am back."
- "Welcome back, sir. Where is your friend that came with you?"
- "I don't know when I lost him. Must be during all my whining and nagging. Ingrates, who needs him anyway? And trust me, he will come back. I have fooled him many days in a row now."
- "Of course, sir. Good for you, the Roast is still available. You have changed your mind, I suppose?"
- "You bet I have changed my mind. I am now making you a deal that you can't refuse. How about you loan me this Roast, and I will pay you back tomorrow if I am happy with it?"
- "Good day, sir."
[wandering on the street and knocking on more random doors]
[8pm] [Still the same restaurant on Barbeque Road] [back door] [trash can]
- "Great leftovers, free! Idiots, they don’t know good things are only for those who can wait. I have the world’s best kitchen, all I need is cook these leftovers again, and they will all become delicious main courses again. I got myself a great bargain!"
[10pm] [Home]
- “Hmm, what a nice meal and what a wonderful day. I rule the meal mercato! I should give myself a pat on the shoulder.”
[11pm] [Hospital]
- “The medical bill would be $100, sir.”
- "What? I thought I saved money today."
- “By the way, sir, don't forget that you need to pay a pre-tax amount of $200. There is a tax of 50%.”
Comments are welcome. :)

He adds that the player wants to come to Milan, but we must be afraid of a top offer from Barca. In that case, he wouldn't refuse.

Once Arsenal confirms this I'll believe it. Didn't Milan outbid Barcelona for like 5 million Euros? Barcelona's President Laporta is a bit weakened, and I'm hearing he could quit. While this may be good for our bid for Adebayor, it won't be good for getting Ronaldinho.
