Now to the sad actuality:
After finishing 5th management said it was time for rebuilding. So we went ahead and get a few free and cheap pieces to help patch up things. Nothing new... replacing old with old is not a step in the right direction...
Cant waste anymore time beating this dead horse.... Olympics is on and Jamaica is gunning for more gold medals..
Ho-Young, it's not because some players were free or cheap that they're not good players or good signings ... I especially think about Flamini who seems to already become one of our important players !!
For Ivanovic, will come or not ?
I didn't care about our mercato since some weeks now and when I came back 2 days ago, I saw those rumors about him maybe coming, he would be a good player for our first team in long-term, but would he be a good player in short-term ?
I mean, he didn't play for more than 6 months ...
old for old?
yea, Antonnini is old
Viudez is old
Darmian is old
Cardiozo or w/e is old..
yep Milan only bought old players this season ^_^

On our mercato: Ivanovic is the player we want, Galliani confirmed it. Now we will wait maybe untill the end of mercato to try to sign him. The news about us wanting Thiago Silva are good, as I trust Brasiliero in his player wiews.
according to Goal.com
Milan is considering a move for Thiago Silva

Hy im am a Milan-fan from Holland and i am new here
I do not get why almost everyone here were yelling when we were trashed by Chelsea but nobody is talking about the game of sunday when we trashed Juventus with Bonera and Favalli(who isnt a cb) as our cb's....
I indeed think we should sign a topclass defender and it seems that the ivanovic deal isnt going to happen as Chelsea dont want to yield him,to bad because he is a very good one and young.
I just read at transfermarketweb that Lazio would like to exchange Stendardo for Brocchi and i read that Thiago Silva is coming in January,i hope so.

I have to disagree with you, I think this mercato has been very balanced with regards to experience vs skills vs youth.
You can't rebuild a team over night and expect to win the scudetto and the uefa cup.
Flamini - from a financial perspective, the best deal of the summer
- his only 23/24yrs old and has already improved our midfield
Zambr - on the wrong side of 30 but seems to getting better each game
- can play on both sides and can be pushed further up
- can cross and defend better than Oddo
- eventually we'll need a younger RB sub/future starter
Antonini - don't know much but from I've read one of Empolis best last season
- is under 30 and has a decent amount of serie-a experience
R80 - big marketing move and fan pleaser transfer
- a gamble but if it pays off we'll all be jumping up and down
Borrielo - another gamble but if he can duplicate last season, we'll all be smiling
Youth - Darmian, Urugyans, Paloschi - hopefully they get decent game time
The oldest players we bought/brought back from loan are Zambrotta and Abbiati, every other player is younger than 30
The key will be rotation and Carlo's willingness to rotate and try new things

welcome to the forum, it's great to have such an international variety represented on the web-site :)
question from me personally, you probably heard about the transfer of Van Der Vaart for just 9 millions to Real Madrid.
I personally thing that it's an amazing deal..Why didn't Milan go for the playet at this cost?

when the deal was done we already had R80.
and also, I think Vaart would rather link up with Robben, Sneijder and Ruud VN than Seedorf xD
we could have at least shown interest- then Real Madrid would be forced to pay more :D
Did anyone catch brazil-argentina todai? Crazi game! it was fun watching every player we have been linked with in the past 2-3 years play in one game. We got a glimpse of the brazilian talent and the argentinian talent, but we also saw ronaldinho and pato play.
based on todays game, there were a few things i noticed:
- pato is hungry and must start every game
- ronaldinho is only a fraction of his former self, the technique and skill is still there, but he is slow as hell. he looks like another version of seedorf. hopefully, he will ragain his fitness
- todai breno looked like roque junior ( was that his name?), the horrible brazilian defender that used to play for milan
- rafinha is absolutely amaziiiiiiiing, why we have not picked him up is beyond me. he is absolutely amazing, a ton of pace and heart, the closest thing that i have seen to a cafu replacement
In short, although i would be happy if milan picked up any player from the ones we saw todai, I would be most happy with picking up rafinha. this was the first time i saw him and i was genuinely impressed.

I agree, Rafinha has been excellent during the Olympics, and it'd be fantastic if we could buy him next summer. Our Brazilian connection would certainly be a big plus...
Regarding the Brazilian connection I've been thinking, there are many clubs in Europe that build their sides around a certain nationality: Arsenal are the French under-21 national team, Liverpool have the Spanish national team's bench, Madrid are starting to look like the Dutch NT, Inter are the Argentine over-31 NT (:hammer:) and so on. It wouldn't be too bad if we became part Azzurri, part Selecão. We have Kaká, Ronnie, Pato, plus two has-beens Emerson and Dida. Now I say we buy (at least :grinser:) Rafinha, Thiago Silva, Hernanes - though the downside is, we can't buy more than two per year, unless they have EU-passports.

Theoretically, we can buy Thiago Silva in the next few days and then buy both Hernanes and Rafinha next summer.
I don't think Rafinha would be that expensive, no more than Zambrotta. He seemed to be certain of a move to Liverpool but i think because of their owner's reluctance to release funds, Benitez had to go for the cheap option once again with Degen.
If, and i know it's a big if, but if Ivanovic were to come on loan we'd surely be able to spend a small-ish amount on Rafinha. I know it would never happen, but it would make sense and a back 4 of Rafinha-Nesta-Ivanovic-Zambrotta suddenly seems great.
Theoretically, we can buy Thiago Silva in the next few days and then buy both Hernanes and Rafinha next summer.
You promise?

Point taken... But if u look at what was available on the market, we shop like a house wife on minimum wage.
Flamini is the best deal... and if he wasnt free we would not get him!!! Would we pay 30mil for him?
Dani Alves vs Zambrotta... Penny wise and Pound foolish...we soon hav to replace zambrotta... and Rafina can now be considered...
Then those youngster are not going to play under Carlo's rule... they are below 30 and are not fan favs...
If R10 wasn't ambitious we would not get him... think about it...
Borrielo prove that he can score... lets see if he gets those opportunities at Milan.
IMO... i think we hav become bottom feeders in the transfer market and milan is not as marketable as we should be... we need to tap into the Asian market...we should sign a major asian player and bench him.. we should do more Asian tours than stay in Europe all summer...
We still havent solved our problem from last year...That is to get a top class striker... and patch the aging holes in our defense... i am willing to bet that it is in the Winter Mercarto b4 we sign a defender... when we are trying to play catch up in every competition...
our scouts and negotiators need to be tohs htiw gnud... why is it so many unimportant clubs can spot these young talents and we can't?

And lets not talk about Diego.

Thiago Neves=15
Diego=25
Zapata=15
Rafinha=15
Bource=10

Latest on Sheva as per La Gazetta
Sheva Jo Join Milan Tomorrow
Chelsea striker Andrei Shevchenko will complete his return to Milan tomorrow in a one-year loan deal, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport.
Roman Abramovich and Silvio Berlusconi held a decisive meeting last Thursday, which took place at Villa Certosa in Sardinia, where they came to an agreement which will see Shevchenko move to San Siro on loan. The transfer is likely to be completed tomorrow, or Friday at the very latest, and Chelsea will also pay €6.5m of the player’s wages. Shevchenko, who is surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge, and was not called up for the first game of the season against Portsmouth on Sunday, is set to be handed the number 76 shirt, after the year of his birth.Ivanovic may be also included in this dealing.

IMO to use Flamini as a left back would be a sin against nature - he must play in central midfield.
Also even if we do get Sheva, I'm not sure he'd be a starter (at least not if Pato plays like he did last season), it would serve him right to sit on the bench while a 18-year-old and a 35-year-old play in stead.
Did you see the season where Flamini was used as LB in Arsenal? IMO that was his best season there. :)

Selling Kalac is very unrealistic, and selling Favalli (though necessary) ain't gonna happen either since he signed a new contract earlier in the summer.
And even if we got Kovac, we'd still be a class defender short...
Did you see the season where Flamini was used as LB in Arsenal? IMO that was his best season there. :)
Fair enough, but I disagree. And I'm pretty sure Arséné Wenger does too, as he was close to selling Flamini to some mediocre English club (I forget which one) just a year ago - so he couldn't have too great at left back, you'd think :guw:.
Anyway, do you think we'll beat the cr*p outta Spain tonight?
No. I bet 200 kr on Spain to beat the heck out of us. :D:D
If Shevchenko coming is true and if Viudez is loaned, then we could again go for Ivanovic, or other non-EU players, couldn't we ?
About Shevchenko, it's a good news IF he's really a replacement of Paloschi, that means only if he is used as 4th striker after Pato-Inzaghi and Borriello (because he has to be given a chance).

Good point. If Sheva comes, then I don't see how we can get Ivanovic as well seeing as they are both non EU.
Sheva coming means bye bye Paloschi. That's great news because Palo is going to be a great player and loaning him out to a team like Torino will definitely speed up the process.

Cheap price. I've seen Kovac play a couple of times and he's definitely an upgrade on Simic. But he's not the "world class" CB I was hoping we'd get. Oh well, I guess we'll deal with defence and GKs next season.
As far as Sheva, I'm actually one who thinks this would be a great move for Milan as it deepens our pool of available strikers and I think Sheva will not be as bad as he's been playing in the EPL the last two seasons. Plus I think Sheva will be ok with getting minimal playing time if Borriello and/or Pato become stars. And best part is that we can loan out Paloschi. At this point I think a 31 year old Sheva is an upgrade over an 18 yr old Paloschi. I also think Palo will be a great Azzurri striker one day and so he needs a place away from the lights of the San Siro to develop in peace.
But what concerns me is that these rumors regarding Sheva mention a clause to make the move permanent next season. I want Sheva this year on a loan - NOT AS A PURCHASE! We need to save money for revamping our defense and GK next season and Sheva on a permanent move will divert funds away from what we really need.
Jokes aside, could Ambrosini play as a CB?

I tried to get a thread started about this some months ago. The thread didn't have must succes but nobody could give any decent argument why he couldn't feature there. I still think he has what it takes but he should have been played there in some friendlys to make sure... Since friendly season is allmost I don't think it's going to happen.
Sheva coming back would mean carlo has a lot of options. (unlike last year).
I've never heard of that Kovac fellow so I don't feel to react on that. If you have info about him (apart from the obvious) keep it coming.
I'm not overly enthusiastic about Kovac, but if he can be consistent and not lose his head like Kaladze does, then i guess he's better than nothing. However, i still hope we'll keep trying for Ivanovic.

He could but I don't think he'll become a good one. Anyone can do some strong tackles, but to do it with elegance and not trying to just break the opponent's lega requires something. That's the difference between Nesta and Materazzi
I say no to Ambro being a center-back, but yes in the striker department.

acchi Roasts Milan's Transfer Antics
Former Milan and Italy coach Arrigo Sacchi has criticised the Rossoneri’s transfer policies and he has hit-out at coach, Carlo Ancelotti.
The Rossoneri have been busy in the transfer market this term but not everyone seems happy with the club’s dealings.
Sacchi suggests the club are misleading fans with their constant transfer market jig.
“First the team, the coach and Adriano Galliani were talking about a top-class striker and instead they sign Ronaldinho, who is a playmaker,” grumbled Sacchi.
“Now, after talking about a defender they go for Shevchenko, a striker. What sort of transfer plan is that?
“Ancelotti? It seems as if he is trying to prove a point and that there is no clear plan in terms of transfers.”
A defender was due to arrive as Milan try to bring in cover for Alessandro Nesta but they have been distracted by Chelsea’s Ukrainian hit-man.
His arrival is imminent but it has left many perplexed with the club’s wobbly transfer campaign.
I didn't say it :o

Just how is our transfer campaign wobbly? We upgraded from an under performing Gila to getting Borriello who scored 19 goals last year. Mind you this upgrade actually netted us +$4 million (we sold Gila for 14 & bought Borriello for 10). We signed one of the most coveted players this off season in Flamini to sub in for either Gattuso or Ambrosini. We signed one of the best FBs in the last 10 years with Zambrotta who can play on both sides and is certainly an upgrade over Oddo. We signed Dinho who is a two time player of the year winner. And now as a result of the unforseen injury to Borriello, we are apparently about to get Sheva on a free loan, which is an upgrade on young Paloschi.
Aside from getting a world class CB, which we still could get, and a GK (which we should have gotten, but won't), I don't see how Milan's had a "wobbly" transfer campaign...

Mind you this upgrade actually netted us +$4 million (we sold Gila for 14 & bought Borriello for 10). Evidence of an economically driven transfer....Borriello might have scored more last season but when did he ever reach close to double digits? TBH Oddo looks faster and the mere fact that he was known for the LAST 10 YEARS means that we could/schould have gotten him then....he's mostly NAME now We signed Dinho who is a two time player of the year winner. Our onllly saving grace......and he is STILL a wild card atm

If and only if we get a striker and defender, then I could say confidently that we have gotten our selves the best market we can wish for. I hope the striker is Sheva and the defender be Cannavaro (but he is currently injured so he will most likely not be considered)
We show little respect to our young players
Instead trust them, nurture them and develope, we replace them with used players and send our talents to low placed teams
That is not the way to treat young talents
Now, when we have cash shortage we can introduce couple bright prospect into the first squad, instead hoping that someone will return to top form
Ronaldinho was marketing project, but I don't see the point of engaging Sheva when we can use Paloschi
actually, giving young talents the time to play in lower teams will only help them improve...
if they stay at Milan(or any other big club) they wont get playing time due to the many stars that are starters...

Actually he played the role of Uncle Fester in a small time production in Monza back in the 60's. Why he kept the look I'll never know...Arrigo Sacchi has it going on aswell, though.

Evidence of an economically driven transfer....Borriello might have scored more last season but when did he ever reach close to double digits?
I'm not sure it's such a bad thing that we are improving our team while also being "economically driven". I honestly think Gila in Fiorentina will have a better year than Borriello, but that would never happen with Gila in Milan. Some players just don't play well on certain teams. Borriello looked great last year, MUCH better than Gila. So in my eyes, that was an improvement.
Or Gattuso Or Brocchi Or Emerson.....oh and we did all that for free....imagine if we had to pay for it :stupid:
Are you saying that just because the guy was free, he won't be great? You don't need to justify a world class player by paying 30 million for him. If anything this is the anti-"wobbly" move. It demonstrates savvy management.
TBH Oddo looks faster and the mere fact that he was known for the LAST 10 YEARS means that we could/schould have gotten him then....he's mostly NAME now
Agreed that Zambrotta's best days are behind him. And this may not have been such a great move considering he cost 9.5 while Vargas, a younger player with tons more upside and one very good year in Serie A went for half that amount. I haven't seen enough of Oddo recently to argue that he's faster, but my problem with Oddo last season wasn't his speed, it was his terrible crosses.
Whohooooo let's get trash that we threw out and chelsea obviously don't need....after all we must replace our "world class" Borriello with an EQUALLY (insert adjective of your choice (e.g. 'useless', 'ill suited', etc) striker :o
Sheva was ABSOLUTELY NOT trash when he left. He obviously has been terrible in the EPL based on the expectations everyone had for him. But remember, he didn't decline at Chelsea, he sucked from the start which tells you it's more of a situation of his not being able to adjust to the EPL versus him just getting old. If it were a gradual decline, then that would tell you that he's lost it, but the suddeness of his drop in form tells me that he could very well be better if/when he returns to serie A.
Sheva is apparently coming for free with Chelsea paying most of his wages. And at this point, he's replacing Paloschi on our roster. Do you not think that Sheva is better than Paloschi???
Believe me, I get SO FRUSTRATED when Milan act so cheap regarding purchasing players (like when Carlo said that Boruc was too expensive at 10 million). But let's give credit where credit is due - Milan made some amazing moves this summer... as long as they do something in CB ;)

Actually I just checked. Vargas cost Fiorentina 11 million, so Zambro was in fact cheaper, by 1.5 million. I hope choosing Zambro over Vargas doesn't come back to haunt us (though I suspect it will).:wallbang:
Sacchi's words really summed up Milan's tranfer campaign. This sentence in particular "The feeling I get is that the club almost wants to test Ancelotti, as well as there being no clear plan."
To sum up Sachhi's words, This has been a Flea Market transfer campaign as none of the listed transfer targets were reached and as a consequence Galliani settled for second-hand goods i.e Ronaldinho instead of Adebayor, Shevchenko last gasp effort to bring in a striker,Abbiati instead of a proven keeper, and the best of all, Ambrosini to provide needed cover at the back instead of a quality CB.

I understand Sacchi's sentiments, I made the same argument after the Chelsea debacle about the lack of coordination amongst management. He makes a fair point, the amount the management seem to contradict themselves or each other is shocking. However, if the management do get Sheva we will add depth to a department where we're light (though Sheva isn't my choice). In addition, if we finally get that defender (not just anyone, someone who is starting material), then this transfer campaign can be deemed a successful one. After all, most people said we needed to strengthen these areas:
- Goalkeeper (Abbiati)
- Fullbacks (Zambro, Antonini)
- Central Defence
- Central Midfield? (Flamini)
- Offensive midfield (Dinho)
- Attack (Borriello, Sheva?)
Although many of the players we got aren't the names we were naming here, we have been getting additions for areas which needed work. The only position that's currently lacking reinforcement is CB, which we're in the market for.
From the overall market perspective, we have done quite well and are only lacking one more player for what we need. However, looking at this from the manager's perspective (which Sacchi probably is), it makes preparations for the new season incredibly difficult as there's little direction set out as to how we'll play, so we have to be prepared for any eventuality (which influences training and tactical discussions).
Did you guys see Jankulovski's goal against England yesterday?
amazing..
Yeah, not too bad - hopefully we'll see another one soon!
Sheva to seal Milan move todau (http://www.goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=827893)
Milan transfer chief Adriano Galliani will dine in Monte Carlo today with his Chelsea counterpart Peter Kenyon to seal a deal for Andrei Shevchenko.
This Rossoneri have been searching for a first striker all summer, but over the past few weeks have become desperate to snap up someone due to the forward crisis they currently find themselves in.
Ronaldinho and Alexandre Pato are away on Olympic duty with Brazil, Kaka is recovering from a knee operation, Marco Borriello is injured, while Pippo Inzaghi has only just returned from fitness concerns of his own.
Over the last few days it has been reported that Milan had reignited their interest in former star Shevchenko, and indeed yesterday it was claimed that the Ukrainian was just hours away from completing a return to San Siro on loan.
"We are close to the end of the deal," Rossoneri director Silvio Romaccioni told Radio Goal.
"I hope these little things that have to be done are done as soon as possible."
The Corriere dello Sport now claim that Milan transfer chief Adriano Galliani will travel to Monte Carlo today to dine with Shevchenko and Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon. They will then move on to one of Roman Abramovich’s luxurious yachts, where the deal to bring Shevchenko back to the Stadio Meazza will be tied up.
The one-year loan will be officially signed, sealed and delivered tomorrow in London, while Shevchenko will probably arrive in Milan on Sunday, or at the latest on Monday.
The 32-year-old is surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge, and was not called up for the first game of the season against Portsmouth on Sunday.
It will be a welcome return for Sheva, who had seven brilliant seasons with Milan from 1999 to 2006, scoring 127 goals in just 208 games, before moving to Chelsea in 2006 for a whopping €45m, where he has been an expensive flop.
Better than nothing I guess, maybe he'll be made to play in defence as well ...
Although I'd prefer it if we sign someone other than Sheva, I just hope it'll be completed today, so that Galliani can focus on bringing in a top central defender. I still hope for either Ivanovic or Thiago Silva (or Zapata - though that's even more unlikely), but it seems from what his agent said, that our interest in this Radoslav Kovac is genuine.
I'm not exactly thrilled about him, though I have very limited knowledge of him. He's not young anymore (28), by no means a big profile, and I have a feeling that a major part of why we're in for him is his versatility, as he can play as a holding midfielder too (which I believe he did against England yesterday).
But the same goes for him as for Sheva: They're better than nothing.
I know Kovac was linked 2 years ago with a few clubs including Inter who were the closest in purchasing him, and his price tag was around 7-8 million.
Drucurl, I have to say few things:
First, Oddo is NOt ( in AYN sence ) better palyer then Zambrotta, or will ever be. He is the same age as Zambro ( more-less, its a small difference ). He is not faster as you say, not better defender, not better passer, not better crosser. Dont worry my friend, it could be seen againt Juve, Zambro is getting better and fitter, his quality on the right will be a big upgrade in our game - you'll see.
I do agree Milan made a mess with mercato. But we simply couldnt sign whoevery we wanted, it doesnt go that way. Berlusconi always wanted Dinho, not Adebayor or anyone else. He laso brought back Sheva and we will loan out Paloschi ( he needs to play, and cant do that in Milan ).
Sheva ( personal point of wiew, as Milanista and real fan ) - is a traitor and slod soul! I would never took him back to wear Milan's shirt under Curva sud - NEVER! Now, ( from professional point of wiew ) - Sheva is an experienced and quality player that Milan needs for this year. As we have Pato (18), Pippo (35), Boriello ( not good enough, or will ever be under Carlo ).
P.S.
Gila scored for Italy. Nice.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
One more CB is needed or we cant win scudetto. But in one thing Dru is right - we signed 2nd best from what we wanted, except Zambro and Flamini.
Hamburg confirmed they would like to sell Vincent Kompany.
The talented Belgium defender made a big fus about going to the olympics were he was forced by Hamburg to leave after just one match. After that match Kompany wanted to stay and had no intention to leave china for Germany however the KBVB (Belgian football association) was affraid Hamburg would sue them and urged him to leave. But Hamburg wasn't very happy with all that fuss and they are willing to let him go. Especially since Kompany hit out at Hamburg that the entire situation in Germany was pretty hypocritical since, Rafina and Diego and Messi for example could stay. Not to mention that, we mis Pato and Ronnie aswell.
Hamburg seems to accept a deal for 9-10mil. Maybe Milan should try and loan him for a season with an option to purchase? That would be ideal imo.
I know Milan isn't linked to him (yet, since a few years ago milan was said to be interested but thought he was to young at that time). But considering our need for a young central defender we should consider him.
For those of you who don't know him
He is born 10 april 1986.
A Belgian central defender who also can play central midfield, 1 m 90 for 85kg.
He is strong, athletic, tall and has very good technical skills, his alternative position is central midfielder (but I think we are well covered there but he is surely much better technically speaking than Ambro and Rhino).
He played with Anderlecht and Hamburg in the Champions leauge and about 100 games in total and played 20 for the Red Devils (Belgium's national team). He was/is considered as a real talent and he has Wenger as a great admirer. But since Arsenal got Silvestre recently I don't think he'll swoop for him.
He has 2 downsides imo he sometimes wants the most beautiful solution, instead of hammering the ball away. Two years ago he had a dreadfull season with injury written all over it since then I he recovered perfectly but I don't want milan to buy an injury prone player again! But I still trust the Milan Lab doctors for that matter. ;)
what do you guys think? he could be our temporary patch with a future with us...
What happend with Ronaldo, is he still our player or?
No his contract expired and he works on his revalidation in Brazil...

That sucks....
Kompany is a great prospect and depending on the price, this could have been a missed opportunity by Milan to buy a decent CB.
So now Man City have Ben Haim, Dunne, Kompany for CB and Richards & Corluka for RB. Corluka was linked with a move to Spurs, maybe this move is still on. I think mrki might be annoyed if we miss out on any move for him :D

Can anyone explain to me a couple of things?
1. How many non-EU players are we allowed to sign per season? I know it was 1, and I know it was raised to 2, but I thought the change was to take place NEXT season.
2. Is Sheva EU now? If not, does getting him in a loan deal count against our Non EU number?
3. Is Viudez EU? If not, I assume he's taking a non EU spot. But what if he just played on the primavera squad. Does that still count in our non EU total? And if we were to loan Viudez out, would that give us that non EU spot back?
Basically what I'm trying to understand is that by Sheva apparently coming, how tight are we in terms of selecting a CB. It seems we have very few choices if a) there are indeed 2 non EU spots available, and b) Sheva and Viudez are taking those spots. If that is accurate, we can forget about Ivanovic, or either of the Silva's - our only chance will be Kovac (or Zapata ;) ).

1- We are able to sign 2 Non-EU players this season..that rule was effective immediately. You can bring one Non-EU and also bring a second one if you have one Non-EU leaving your team or his contract expiring.
2- Ukraine is not in the EU and Sheva does not have any other passport. If we buy Sheva then he will take our second Non-EU spot. If he comes on loan he will also take it (I think).
3- Viudez does not have an EU passport and yes he will take the first non-EU spot. If he's kept in the primavera then we still have brought in a Non-EU player to Milan so it still counts. However, if we loan him out I think that we will free up his spot.
4- Ivanovic (and Alex) is a Non-EU and could not be brought in if we do get Sheva. Zapata is Colombian but because he played in Italy last season then it is fine for us to sign him, he will not be one of the Non-EU players.

I dont think Kompany was the right man for us,he makes to many mistakes in the defence and he isnt that good, maybe in the future when he is more consistent but not now.Everyone wants a world class defender and Kompany isnt world class,it would really be weard if Milan would signed him.But he is young and has allot talent, but we want somebody who we really can trust.
To bad Ivanovic isnt coming,Kovac isnt world class but he isnt that bad,if i had to choose i would go voor Alex Silva.Milan isnt going to sign Zapata/Thiago Silva because they cost around 15 million and we all now they aint going to pay that.Alex Silva is cheaper and he is also good from what i had seen on the Olympics.
If Sheva returns then i am happy with that,he has the qualities and experience to add something to the Milan squad.
Next year we are not going to sign a new goalie because we already have Felipe from Santos,we loaned him for one year and next year he will come to us so i dont think Milan is going to buy another goalie...
Our injured players are healing well so at the start of the season we will only Kaka and Borriello not available(they are probably available for the second match).Kaladze,Maldini,Nesta,Inzaghi can play against Bologna.

Man City paid € 13 mil, in the earlier press release it said Hamburg were willing to part from him for € 9-10 mil. (They paid about 8 mil for him 2 years ago). I think city wanted to act quickly and therefor overpaid a bit to make sure Hamburg wouldn't wait.

I've been thinking about Sacchi's statements. I know he's a legendary coach and all, but I have to disagree with his statements about Milan not having a plan.
Yes the initial plan was to find a powerful striker who could play up top alongside Pato and be fed passes from Kaka, Pirlo and our FBs. But once it appeared that Dinho could be had (and for cheap too), the plan was changed. We now are going full throttle on X-mas tree. That's it. We aren't playing things by ear. We had a plan, we changed it once, and we've stuck with it since.
I think Sacchi's comments come from his OVERESTIMATION of Sheva's role in Milan. Sacchi apparently expects the Sheva of old, who will be the focal point of our scoring. I on the other hand don't see it like this. Sheva's best days are behind him. Yes, i expect him to have a mini rebound in form, but I can't see him scoring more than 10 goals this season. Sheva's role will be heavy at first, what with Borriello out injured and the only other striker being Inzaghi (as Pato will be used sparingly since he missed our preseason). Then later on, as Boriello returns, Sheva's minutes will start to fall. This will be compounded by my prediction that Pato will be getting more and more playing time as the season goes on - all at the expense of Sheva.
Sheva is insurance. We don't know how long exactly it will be before Boriello comes back. We don't know how he will perform when and if he does come back, and we probably can expect a small injury or two to Inzaghi during the course of the season. If Sheva finds his old Milan form, then fantastic. But I don't think it's going to happen. That's why I think Sacchi's comments are unreasonable.

Repports are saying that Sheva will be presented at Sunday or Monday and that Chelsea will pay a part of his wages BUT they are getting a option on Kaka so they can capture him next season....im not buying it.

If they sell Borriello, then I take what I said about Sacchi back - Milan don't have a plan. You don't buy a guy, then get a replacement for him and sell him all in the same offseason.
Of course I wouldn't mind if Borriello were sold, especially for $15 million AS LONG AS THAT MONEY IS PUT TO A WORLD CLASS CB - Like Zapata.

Why would Boriello be behind Pato, Inzaghi & Shevchenko? Pato's not good enough to lead the line, Inzaghi can't do it for match after match and Shevchenko, well who knows what kind of form he'll show if he comes here.
Our front 3 should clearly be Kaka, Ronaldinho, Boriello with Pato & 1 other on the bench. It would be pointless bringing back the 3rd highest scorer in the league last season to not play him.
Why Ljunguberg when we need a center back? Let's hope it's just another rumour or else we'll be stuck with another 30 plus primadonna collecting huge wages and playing only a handful of games.
Ljungberg ain't a primadonna. He is a very hard worker. It is just that his body is fragile and needs constant mending. Obviously he is not a player for us.

Senderos? :5hoest:
So, the Sheva deal now seems off. What on earth is going on? If we need a CB or a striker, let's just go out and get one (within our budget of course). I'm getting quite fed up with Milan getting involved in lengthy negotiations with the deal coming through extreme difficulty or getting called off at the end. Other teams and even the Milan of many years ago would negotiate and conclude a deal, if it means overpaying a bit, then so be it especially if we really need a player. We end up trying to set up deals purely on our own terms, and when the other team doesnt agree, then the deal is off. We've seen this with the transfers of Ronaldo, Ronaldinho (on again, off again), Ivanovic, Emerson, Zambro, etc...When are we actually going to do a proper deal?
We've seen this with the transfers of Ronaldo, Ronaldinho (on again, off again), Ivanovic, Emerson, Zambro, etc...When are we actually going to do a proper deal?
What are you talking about?!?Proper deal?!?
Like the deal when barca said they want 35 mill for ronaldinho, we should have said: " Yes, thank you Mr. Laporta."?
Or the deal when Real said they want an option on Kaka in exchange for Ronaldo?
We bought all those players except Ivanovic, who I think we will get in the end, end we got a pretty good price for them.
You guys get excited like little children ( sorry, no offense ) every time galliani says something. It's just strategy, obviously chelsea played hard ball yesterday and galliani did this to show them that it's our way or the highway...
He did it with barca and real and in the end they decided to take our offers.
Sheva's wages are an issue here, we don't want to pay for them, but chelsea made a mistake when they showed they don't want sheva anymore and now they are sitting ducks for Uncle Fester.
The transfer window closes on 31st of August. That's 10 more days.
We need a defender and maybe a striker, so we will get them.
Trust Fester.
Milan: Senderos!
Per il difensore niente Kovac: è in arrivo lo svizzero dell'Arsenal. Philippe Senderos in maglia rossonera ritroverà Flamini.
from channel4.com
Yes, proper deal. Like the way players used to be signed. Identify your targets: 1,2,3,4, negotiate with the relevant teams, and close the deal. Like how Fiorentina signed Vargas, how Madrid signed Van de Vaart, how Barca signed Yaya Toure last year. This is how football teams normally do business. The long drawn out transfer sagas do happen, but they should be happening for the absolute big players, not for players like Ivanovic.
See the reality. Look how Man Utd, Liverpool, Inter, Juve, Fiorentina and every other club for that matter have conducted their transfer activities, and see the sort of haggling and hassling we've been doing the last two seasons. It's really frustrating and quite frankly, it is a disgrace coming from a club that's owned by Italy's richest man.
This year's transfer may seem really good to some of you, but look carefully. Aside from Flamini (who we got free) I don't think our other signings guarantee success in the medium to long run. Say what you may, but Zambrotta is on his way down, he is now 31 and has lost some of his speed, Ronaldinho is and will be a gamble, Boriello is probably not good enough for us, Abbiati is not the solution---Fiorentina has a better starting GK than we do.

He didn't get to be Italy's richest man by acquiescing to every demand. Reminds me of a Simpsons episode where Bill Gates 'buys out' Homer by destroying his internet start-up. The guy knows business, he knows how to make money. Its his team, and if you think you can run it better, raise the money and buy it yourself. Stop complaining about how he does business and be grateful he hasn't sold Kaka yet. Lets not make the same mistakes Barca made with Ronaldinho.
I don't know about that. I think once we secured Ronaldinho, our game plan for the season was set. We're stuck with the Xmas tree. He has to play Ronnie/Seedorf and Kaka together, and this means any hopes of playing two real strikers for any long stretch of time is not going to happen (barring any serious injury to two of those three). He wants the striker to increase his options for the season, not to start off with a new system. This means that his preparation is already based on the Xmas tree, and my hope is that the non-Pirlo alternative is a 4231 Roma style with Pato/Kaka/Ronnie behind Borriello.
If these Senderos rumours are true, i would rather we got him on loan as i don't see him being any better than Kaladze or Bonera, plus on his day he can be just as chaotic/unstable in defence as the Georgian.
Ancelotti has stated that he only wants a CB that's better than the ones he currently has, he wants someone for the first team and not for the squad. So i don't see how Senderos (or Kovac for that matter) fits that bill.
Obviously top CBs are hard to come by and even harder to get from their current teams, so a compromise has to happen somewhere. Either we fork out for a decent player or Ancelotti has to settle for another squad player ... i know which option my money is on!
I have been watching Arsenal a lot last season and senderos was one of the best defenders in their squad...
A premiership defender, especially one like Senderos could really turn our defence around.
I am 100% behind this move shall it go through.
Nothing to do with us, but it seems Thiago Neves is set to join Atletico Madrid for £9.5 million.
If they do get him, that's another great purchase for them.
Senderos? The man even Arsenal supporters call Calamity Senderos! We'll be the laughing stock of Europe. Judging by his time in England, he's not the solution to our problems at the back. He's no better than Kaladze, he's even more error-prone, the only plusses are his youth (and room for improvement) and his size. Surely Kaladze has a younger brother, we could sign instead?
Warro Bantan
22-08-2008, 07:02
We can surely do better than Senderos? He has no pace, and as Jim has indicated above, he is prone to some serious lapses.
Wouldn't be my first choice...Darmian isn't looking bad to b honest.
I think we should just promote him, and end the mercato re defense...
How on Gods green earth was Senderos ever at any stage Arsenals best defender??????? I would be happy with Toure,Clche, Sagna and even Gallas who isnt a spring chicken. But senderos is terrible, Bonera and Kaladze are both better.
If we are just going to sign another squad player, why would we drag one over from Russia or England or I don't even know from where. Just give Darmian the number and that's it. He won't play more then a few times a season (how many times did Simic play?). There is no reason to pay a few million of transfer fees + salary for a squad player. I hope these Senderos rummors are just another crap piece of news.
About our transfer market plans.......I think Ronaldinho was always on top of them. Just because the management said something about a strong striker doesn't mean that they gave up on Ronaldinho and then only got him as a last resort because he became available. Quite honestly, I don't believe a word Galliani and the management say anymore because I really think that they are lying with every single breath. As a matter of fact, Adebayor in my oppinion was just something to show Barcelona that we are not going to accept their demands for Dinho and that we are looking at different options. The whole talk about how we don't need Dinho was the same thing. I think he was always our first option simply because Berlusconi wanted him. The rest was just empty talk. That's the way I see it.

And I think that's the way it is ...
Galliani loves to speak in medias, it's a fact, so even if he has nothing to say, he'll speak in medias !! The fact is that there is often a strategy behind his declarations.
And like some of us said at the beginning of this mercato, even if we get all the best players in world, some here will be unhappy as they are right now.
Come on, we have improved each part of our team !! Then, success or failure, only time will say, but on paper, we're better this year than last year or two years ago ...
And for people claiming that our mercato is not good for long-term, it's the same people who claim that we need a good team immediatly ... so there is something strange with that: we want long term prospects + immediate success, I don't know any team able to do that.
And if some people tell me MU, Real, Barcelona, or teams like that, let's take their current line-up today and let's see what is their line-up in 2-3 years.
This is a classic letter that someone wrote in today to football365.com- I spit my coffee out laughing!
Acciiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiid
Am I tripping on acid, or are AC Milan refusing to rule out buying Phillipe Senderos. PHILLIPE SENDEROS.
Is there another AC Milan playing in the scottish 2nd division, perhaps?
Alex Ferrer, AFC
The sooner the trapdoor to the mercato is closed, the better. Big ups to Pato for saying we'd win the scudetto!
I know you were just making a joke, but FYI, Kaladze had a brother who was murdered several years ago by kidnappers.
Obviously that didn't cross my mind as I wrote that post; had I remembered that tragedy, I would never have written such a thing. I appologize to anyone who might've taken offense.

Even bad players have good games every now and then. Now, I don't count Senderos among the truly bad players, but there's a reason why he known as error-prone. I don't watch Arsenal a lot, but even I can think of around a dozen of those "Senderos-moments".
And If he struggles in the not-so-technical EPL, how will he cope in Serie A?
And I'm not a "Senderos hater" - I just don't wan't him at Milan :u56:.
MILANELLO - Here is the medical situation of Milan as explained by doctor Massimo Manara to Milan Channel's microphones.
MALDINI AND KALADZE: "Friday they will probably coach with the group, I think they are both available for Sunday's match in Gijon."
NESTA: "Yesterday he started the rehabilitation with our physiotherapists Roberto Morosi and Bill Tillson, he also did some work in water. Both Jean Pierre Meersseman and I visited him and I have to say the situation is under control, his condition hasn't worsened, which is a good sign."
KAKÁ: "He is working very well, today he ran on a special carpet we have available. The results are good, then we will see the results on the pitch. His situation is clearly improving."
BORRIELLO: "We are at a good stage, the idea is to have him available for the second league game, considering that for the first he is suspended. There's all the time necessary to arrive at a complete healing."
EMERSON: "Today he started a normal work with the group, we still have to wait for a special something because he is playing with a nail in his thibia."
------------------------------------------------------------------------
so in short, Boriello is ok and soon will play normally, Emerson we dont care about... But Nesta and Kaka' do not look like playing at high level soon :(

I dont get why people dont want Senderos?
I assume that almost everybody saw Milan-Arsenal when Senderos played because Toure was injured. That guy played a perfect match,he is young and has so much talent. He can be just like Ivanovic a top defender in the future. So what is wrong with him...
Sheva isnt coming, well that isnt bad news,if he had come i would be happy with it because that would mean that Paloschi would be loaned.Ancelotti said that he would maybe be loaned in January for a half year.
I hope Senderos will come because Nesta isnt making progress.

Senderos is probably just another rumour allowing the media to sell stories.
Senderos only played for Arsenal when either Gallas/Toure were injured or when someone else was injured and Toure played at RB.
Admittedly he has had some decent games but as stated before he is prone to error.
More importantly he doesn't handle big strong forwards well, he is intimidated by them it seems.
Hows he going to handle Trezeguet, Amauri, Ibrahamovic, Adriano or even Gilardino in a physical battle?

More importantly, how did Darmian play in the Trofea Moretti?
From what I read, Milan didn't concede and it wasn't from a lack of trying on Juve's part.
Friendly match or not, if Darmian could hold off Del Piero and Amauri surely he can do the job while Nesta is injured?
We have this young talent in our squad, perhaps its time to show some belief in them?

I think its to early for Darmian,i think that we have to let him make some minutes is the squad and then next summer we have to loane him out to a small club in Serie A so he can develop quicker like Paloschi, the same go's for Albertazzi.Paloschi is ready to be loaned,Darmian en Albertazzi have to wait a season.Viudez isnt going to play much so loaning him is the best option.
You are right,we should belief in them, but they are not going to play much at us so loaning them is better.
Juventus isnt making a good impressione on me in the pre-season,i dont think they are ready for the Scudetto:5milan:

The Senderos rumor is now over,Arsenal would not want to sell him or loan him....
It was just a media rumour,i am going mad, each day a other defender is linked at us,it doesnt make sense, they say we are in Kovac talks,so why are we turning to Senderos and what about Marquez,Alex Silva,Stendardo and T.Silva.They were also linked to us its a mess now.We just have to wait untill the end to see witch defender will come to us.Because Milan only approached Ivanovic official.
If we need a replacment for SImic, then Senderos is not a long way off. However, if we are looking for someone to replace Nesta, Maldini, or Kaladze in the longer run, then I dont think Senderos is the answer.
Why would we need a replacement for Simic, he never played. This si the whole point. We dont need bench warmers as the damn bench is on fire. We need someone who can give us an excuse to rest Maldini and put Kaladze on the bench.

Very good point, mate!
Man Utd: see Berbatov deal, draging, draging, might not happend
Liverpool: see Gareth Barry deal, where the manager and the owners are fighting about paying up the 18 mill for the player. Been draging along all summer.
I don't think there's alot of other clubs in Europe that have done bigger & better signings than us this summer. But it's all opinions of course

It's not true that players used to be signed differently before.
IMO, it's simply that today we are able to get info ( 90% made up info!) all the time and monitor the negotiations. 10 years ago that was impossible.
What about the saga with amauri( juve, milan, inter), CR( real, barca), robinho ( chelsea), trezeguet(barca), berbatov (man.utd.), quaresma, drogba, lampard( all inter), sheva( milan, roma, sampdoria, napoli), corluka(did he sign for tottenham or not?!), barry...and so on...
The fact is that there are lots of football sites that are eager to get that extra fresh news that somehow everybody missed and, to get it, invent staff.
Even if they don't invent it, we are now able to follow the negotiations day-by-day so it looks like a hassle.
Remember the nesta transfer back in 2002? We signed him on the last day of transfer window after the negotiations which lasted probably whole summer but goal.com and such sites weren't there to write about it every day...
( i am not sure when was goal.com first created, just making an example:zany:)
I don't think there is anything wrong about it, that's why we call it silly season...
Have our signings solved our problems of last season? ... Lack of a topclass striker... Goal keeper and aging slow defenders.
Yes. Ronaldinho and borrielo as attackers.

Agreed. But the thing is, it's much more difficult to find a good young defender than a good young striker.

first our fellow milanista were slamming galliani for not keeping his word on "180% ronaldinho and sheva milan players"
now they are unhappy when we sign them...
wow, life must be really tough when you have an attitude like that
Welcome back Sheva
I'm honestly happy that he's back with us where he belongs. He's spent two years in limbo, and I think he's learned his lesson in humility.
One thing I have the utmost confidence in is that, as he has never been an injury prone player, the miracle workers at Milan Lab will surely nurse him back to the player he used to be (albiet maybe a bit worse considering his wasted 2 years).
The only concern I have is that Kaka will not be a part of the deal and go the other way....
Considering all that's been said and done, nearly all the players promised have come.
Goalkeeper: Abiatti
Full-Backs/Wingers: Zambrotta, Antonini
Holding/Attacking Midfielders: Flamini, Cardacio, Ronaldinho
Forwards: Sheva, Borellio, Viudez
Honestly, the only thing missing is obvious.
I'm still expecting the world-class defender that Uncle Fester likes to surprise the fans with near the end of the transfer windows. :D
Carlo didnt want Shevchenko!! This is a shame for Milan and Milan ultras, for me, Sheva is not welcomed in Milan shirt anymore. But now he is a Milan player and for the sake of Milan's results I will support him from a "professional" point of wiew. But we are making fools out of ourselves.
Paloschi out I assume for loan.
And where is the defender? They better buy one or we can say ciao to scudetto with all ther forwards in the world, as Nesta is recovering with "swimming in the pool" and Maldini is 40. DEFENDER is needed, not Shevchenko.
Anyway, Sheva is now here.
EDIT:
I saw on SKY that Stendardo is on his way to Udinese. Milan's only real and great solution for CB is Zapata at this moment. We can hope Milan will get him in the end, as Braida has connections in there.

well - I still am as pissed of as I was before when Galliani said that. Most of us knew Milan wanted Dinho and Sheva all along, but when Galliani comes out and declares it - that's when we all get pissed off. That is nothing but poor management, just like how Barca declared they were selling Dinho, Deco and Eto'o, Milan did the same by identifying their targets.
Anyway at the end of the day we seem to have gotten our main men. Im curious to see whats going to happen with the rest of the squad and whether we will eventually get the last piece of the puzzle - a defender.
PS: Flamini, Zambrotta, Ronaldinho, Antonini, Abbiati, Boriello, Shevchenko are 7 new players added to the squad and this is not including Darmian, Cardacio and Viudez. We lost Cafu, Serginho, Fiori, Gilardino, Simic and Digao (6 players). Squad needs a bit more trimming down though. Brocchi, Dida(or Kalac), Paloschi, Boriello should be out.

Brocchi, yes.
Dida/Kalac, I say wait a bit before you start throwing Keepers away. I distinctly remember the season where Cech and Cudicini all got injured in the exact same game against Blackburn or whoever, and the team ended up having to use Hilario for over two months. So, unless you can find me better backup for Abiatti right now, then, I would seriously be against trimming down in that department.
Paloschi needs games, no doubt about it, but I do think he'd be real handy in the squad. The younger players are a bit less predictable against our opponents, as we saw last season. I think having him here is a plus rather than a minus, specially if we really are to contend for UEFA as well.
Boriello is a similar case as Paloschi, he brings something else to the squad, and if we can get him back soon, I would rather have him stay than go.
Think of it this way, Sheva and Pippo are not gonna be here forever, we need players that can fill in the gaps they leave, even if it means they play less.

But is not Shevas fault its our managment's fault who are making such embarasing moves. They don't hear the fans.

I don't agree rosoneri_11,
Management never wanted Sheva to leave in the first place, Sheva was at fault for that.
Bringing him back was a mutual decision from all parties involved, and you can't really blame management for the move. If you really want to put the blame on someone, put it on Berlu, since he's probably the one who wants Sheva back more than anyone else.
As for not hearing the fans, well....... I don't understand this statement. How is it that we should be embarrassed for bringing back a player who thought he could do without us, when clearly he couldn't. Just because we take him back instead of buying someone like David Villa (my personal favorite), or Huntelaar doesn't mean we're embarrassing ourselves. In fact, I would consider it vindication that no player can be above Milan and that some players just simply must be a part of Milan to succeed.
As for whether he's past it or not, well...... let's just let Sheva do his talking on the pitch, shall we? Traitor or not, he's back, and lets hope he makes the most of his chance here to make himself respected (if not adored) by the fans again.
screw this. this team has no pride. while i want milan to win it all, i hope it will be without a single appearance from the traitor.

"In any case, in general, it's not certain that Shevchenko arrives and it's not certain that the market is closed if Shevchenko arrives."
This is a direct quote of Carlo. There might be one last suprise....
I have conflicted feelings regarding Sheva. I think of two contrasting images when I think of him. Jumping all over Dida with ecstasy after scoring against Buffon in Manchester, and him kissing Chelsea's badge after scoring in his debut, weeks after leaving Milan. It was a mistake for every party involved when he left. We all know this. I hope he still has a fire that burns and wants to prove to everyone that he's still Sheva. I don't know if this latest move is the final piece of the puzzle, or the final crack that will collapse the glory of Milan. I guess it all depends on the atmosphere. We're treading into Real Galacticos territory here, with Seedorf, Ronnie, Kaka, Gattuso, Sheva... I'm glad Maldini is still around to assert his leadership. I don't know about it, though. Is he still great?
In any case, I'm just glad I now have a good attacker to use in PES2008.

Viudez and Cardacio will continue training with us, they are two young players who are integrating themselves well. Later we will evaluate if Viudez will be able to play with the Primavera.
The youngsters will also continue training with the first team and the same goes as with Pato and Viudez
...It was a mistake for every party involved when he left...
A mistake on Sheva's behalf, and Chelsea's of course, but not on ours. If there's a player who wants to leave (= has no loyalty), and the club he wants to join are willing to pay an awful lot of money (especially for a thirty-year-old striker) then I think Milan did the right thing.
The mistake we made was not investing the money in a proper replacement and possibly now in bringing him back. We don't know the terms of the transfer yet, so how much we had to shell out is unknown. But signing a nearly 32-year-old striker who's been awful for the past two seasons doesn't seem like the best of deals.
Furthermore we're talking about a player who's despised by much of the fanbase (as can be seen by the reactions on this forum), even if he was fantastic during his original spell here.
On the one side it's about taking a gamble on a player - and a gamble it is for many reasons, i.e. form, age, the fans, the other players (who weren't happy with the way he left wither), etc.
On the other it's about sending a signal: "Milan signing another past-it player", "Milan so desperate they're embracing a traitor" and so on. Just in case we're thinking about our image and - some would say - self-respect.
haha, for his family? well why did he came back then???

Oh, and one more thought to this turnaround in events. I don't care what anyone says, but Pato deserves to stay AND keep the number 7 jersey. If Ronnie couldn't take the 10 back from Seedorf, then I say theres no way in hell that Sheva gets special treatment, godson of Berlu or not.
There has to ba catch to this deal. Transfer fee was disclosed and Galliani never disclosing anything. Be prepared to see Kaka go to Chelsea next season.

Yes. Ronaldinho and borrielo as attackers.
Borriello is still largely unproven and in my eye, i still see years of dissapointment and its just had to believe 1 good season (and really only half 1) that he'll be up to it at milan.
When you look at juve and inter they have trezeguet, amauri (trez proven machine in serie A) inter have adriano, ibra, crespo, cruz... perhaps inzaghi is more than comparable to last 2....but first 2 are incredible talents who havent proven in serie A. Even roma have totti who is a 20 goal a year machine.
Beyond in europe, bayern- toni, klose and podolski. Barca.. long list. Real Madrid long list. I'm not even ging to into EPL but i think you all get my point. We still lack a top class CF who will put in goals when needed.
Sacchi even said so, we said we wanted a striker, berbatov, etoo, adebayor... we sign a playmaker. A position we have kaka and even seedorf at. We will still have the same problem, spectacular goals will come, but we'll lack a true presence like drogba or torres who will consistantly score, week in week out, sometimes ugly, sometimes just generic, but definately necessary.
Abbiati as goalkeeper.
Not Frey, Buffon, Julio Ceasar, Doni. At best 5th best keeper in serie A.
Zambrotta and antonini as fullbacks, and we are working on a CD
Zambro 31. Antonini... midtable player at best. How is this an improvement? For a team w/ no wings dependant on FB runs... it'd make sense to sign a plaer in molds of cafu and serginho.... dani alves, rafinha etc etc. Instead we sign aging Zambro and antonini who wont be a starter
:eekani: Pride? :haha: you are accusing the same people who had to be threatened NOT to buy Caesar Apreciado, who bought Favalli, Ba, Chedric Seedorf, Vieri Antonini $hevchel$ki, dumping Crespo, Rivaldo and possible Ronaldo and who seem to be pursuing Stentardo and Senderos -of having PRIDE? :wth:

Guys, pls, STFU about our management. they have done a superb job. i didn think they cud actually do it, but they have. what the hell more do u guys want? flamini, ronaldinho, sheva, zambrotta, where does the greed stop? considerin we are not playin cl, this team is one defender away from being set. This whole thing about shevcenko, its not feelings, its BUSINESS. he is a PROVEN winner on our side, and we know, we don't think, but we KNOW, that he will rise again for us and play beautiful futball. at the price that he cost us, he is well worth it considerin the amount of goals he will provide for the next 2-3 years. guys remember, this is a business. you all talk about our management being subversive and dragging on transfers, but we are being strategic, and in the end we get what we want and most importantly, in the way that we want (most of the time). And in the case of sheva, the potential benefits clearly outweigh the costs. so no emotions, jus business and clear cut thinking. plus, i cant wait till he starts scoring for us again, and to see him quickly transforming from traitor to hero in everyone's eyes.

our team was old, dissilusioned, unmotivated. The bulk of milan fans wanted YOUN HUNGRY players. No one doubts ronaldinho's ability. Sheva's accomplishments, zambros accomplishments. but on that same level... no one questions gattuso, pirlo, nesta, seedorf, maldini and so on. They are all legends of the game. Some of best players of there generation. Some like maldini will go on as greatests ever, others like seedorf may be underrated in history but no1 of knowledge will doubt there accomplishments. The point is we needed to BUILD for the future. Not bring in aging vets. You're right we're not in the champions league, so why not purchase the likes of dani alves or rafinha instead of zambro. Why not bring in benzema instead of ronaldinho. Before you jump on me about how these plaeyrs r unattainable im simply making a point. The 20+ mil ronaldinho cost, could have been used on a TOP TIER young talent. And thats the problem I have. I wanted ot turn the page, build for future. The same way manutd did brinigng nani, anderson with scholes and giggs. They dint go sign a 31 year old and a 28 year old. they went after guys around 20 who they knew were proven talents, who over a 2-3 yar period could replace there legends as they slow down.

I agree with you 100% Sheva will have a new number and add more history to our beloved Milan..

Sheva will take the number 76 and is a good buy to the club no matter what they say. He is a better bet than both Paloschi and Boriello put together whether you like it or not. I'd like to see us use Sheva, Pippo, Pato up front next year and Kaka, Ronaldinho, Seedorf behind them. I am sure that Boriello will leave because I remember his agent threatening that he will quit if Milan buy more strikers. Boriello should be sold out right because we got ripped off for his deal, we need to at least break even.
And don't forget this is Milan you are talking about , we are not Arsenal, Udinese, Valencia - we cannot afford to depend on Paloschi nor do we have the time to watch him grow. Face it - he is no Kaka nor is he a Pippo (at the moment). They gave him his chance in pre-season and they thought "if this kid does amazing and scores 2 goals every game we will keep him", but he didn't. Personally I dont want to see Paloschi here because we will be wasting his talent, he should be loaned out just like Gourcuff (and probably Viudez too).
Another issue that no one has brought up recently is that - Sheva is a Non-EU player. That is the worst thing about the deal seeing as he took our last remaining Non-EU spot. I was hoping a player like Alex or Ivanovic could come in, but that does not look likely (however it still is possible if Viudez is loaned out). If we are to make any transfers - it has to be an EU player or a player from Italy.
One question - has Udinese signed Stendardo yet? Because that means they have signed 2 defenders in the last month and could afford to lose one. Besides Udinese are known for selling their players, so here's hoping for Milan to make another surprise and sign Zapata out of the blue! ;)
EDIT:
I just read Carlo's interview where he mentioned that Sheva was not coming to Milan only for him to come a couple of hours later. In that interview he mentioned:
- Maldini, Kaladze, Emerson are fully recovered and will be available for the friendly tomorrow against Gijon. It will be an important test for them.
- Jankulovski is fine. Gattuso has a small injury to his shoulder so he will miss the game tomorrow. Inzaghi does not have any specific injury but is suffering in some parts of his foot. He will continue training next week.
- The players who will play in defence and midfield tomorrow should be the same players that will start the game against Bologna.
- The strikers will not necessarily will be the same because we will have Ronaldinho and Pato who will resume training with the squad on Tuesday.
- Abbiati will be the starting GK because he currently is the best GK from the three.
- Nesta's recovery is going well. Kaka should be ready for the second game of the league.
- Viudez and Cardacio will remain training with us. We will decide later whether Viudez should join the Primavera or stay with us but I would rather he stayed with us because that's how they learn quicker. They have to mature in a different way than the rest and will improve upon their mistakes faster.
- He hopes Roma will win and believes Inter have a great team for next year.
I don't get why people even expect loyality or that certain players love the club.
Let me explain.
Shevshenko, Flamini, Seedorf is not local players. They never went to San Siro as a kid or probably even followed Milan closely. Milan is their employer. Now why should they suddenly love the club just cause they started playing there? Why should Flamini love Milan more than Arsenal or Marseille (where he actually grew up).
Since international football has become the way it has with little local players, I don't think anyone should scream disloyality over players who never loved the clubs before they even came there.
That's my 2 cents atleast
Sheva is a non-eu? I thought he already gotten Italian citizenship?
Welcome back Sheva; like some I have mixed feelings but heck you are back and we may well need it now when both Kaka` and Borreillo are injured (and Inzaghi injury-prone).
Our attack is less strong than some might think...

Yes, I agree, that would be ideal. We get these young guys, they come in and all gell, and they play stunning soccer, and we win the cl with these players for 10 years, and they all lived happily ever after. CUT. this is real life, and there is no way in hell milan is payin that kind of money for young players. yes i love benzema and alves, but i also loved gila. how do u noe these guys will succeed? does milan look like a team that builds with youth? do u noe why we win so much, because of experienced legends. we win because of inzaghi and seedorf, players that according to you, should have been replaced by young hot shots years ago. the truth is, if u want to win todai, u are more likely to do so with a inzaghi, trezeguet, van nistelroy, sheva, or drogba, than some young hot shot. and milan is all about winning, every single season. theoretically, van der vart is a way better buy than ronaldinho, for now. but im sure that we will win more with ronaldinho than van der vart. plus, why the hell does everyone ignore flamini. He is young. u got flamini, borriello, cardacio, paloschi, pato, viudez, and gorcuff plus abate on loan, thats enough youth for a top club. take a minute and look at real's amazing youth system, and arsenal's, when was the last time they won cl?
I honestly think the term 'youth' is overrated.
If you are old but you are exceptional, why not?
If you are young and have potential, may try.
If you are old and fading, LEAVE.
And if you are young and exceptional? PLAY.
I thought this has always been the way it is. People compalain about Gourcuff, but have they seen Milan playing Pato when he is 18 and Kaka` when he is (what age?) OVER players like Rui Costa (age 29/30 at that time?).
Please - there is no substance whatsoever claiming that young player is always better. Nor do we want the team like Arsenal. We all know what happens (turns out one of their best players have also come to Milan).
R80 - Pato - Kaka are not OLD combination, for God's sake.
The key now is to buy a good, REALLY GOOD, world-class defender. I mean WORLD-CLASS. This has been eluding us for long...

Good points Jeff, good points. Being young doesn't necessarily mean you're definitely world class, nor does it mean you can out-run, out-think or even out-muscle players like Maldini or Gattuso (C. Ronaldo being my prime example).
Likewise, I too am waiting for that last defender signing to complete a pretty darn good summer mercato. :3band:
A defender will complete the loop, but I'm not hopeful...
I also think that a GK will be impt for next year when we are back in CL, but again we need someone who is exceptional and very expeirenced to play at the highest level like in CL...
The only mistake I worry that Milan management has made is overestimate our defense. I think it is a mistake if we were not to buy a DC this year..
Did Kaka option release Sheva?
Sunday 24 August, 2008
There is continuing confusion over how much Milan paid to sign Andriy Shevchenko, raising doubts Kaka might have been involved.
When the announcement that Sheva was returning to San Siro was made at 18.00 on Saturday, both clubs declared “the details are confidential.”
The transfer had collapsed over the past few days with Adriano Galliani pointing out Chelsea were refusing to release the striker on loan to the same club that had earned £30m for him two years ago.
It had been reported Chelsea requested a loan deal that had to be followed by a permanent move worth £13m.
None of the sources close to either club have emerged with a theory on how they managed to resolve the issue.
The contract will be signed on Monday after a medical and then the details might emerge, but it still doesn’t answer why there has been so much secrecy.
There is the rumour that Chelsea’s £100m chase for Kaka could be involved, as the only way for Milan to gain leverage would be to include an option on the Brazilian.
However, should Kaka not wish to leave San Siro at any stage of his career, then the option would essentially be worthless.
If the 2007 Ballon d’Or does opt to walk away, then the option would give Chelsea first choice, thereby destroying any chance of Real Madrid pipping them to the post.
Of course this could all be just a theory and the truth may well be that President Silvio Berlusconi agreed to shell out the extra cash at the end of the season just to have Sheva back in his squad.

I think we can.
In fact, our squad has more quality than Inter and Roma.
We can do it on one condition...consistency...and know how to win even when you don't deserve to win. with little luck in respect with injuries we can win.

very true, but i should back up. i meant ot win league, something we havent been close to for years, you need motivated legs. Milanshould never lose to empoli or atalanta. Or pull the amount of draws to mediocre teams we did. Its largely because players like seedorf, pirlo, gattuso dont care. WHy should they get up for a sunday in siena when they play wed night in manchester infront of millions of cameras. Thats y u bring in the youth, to gel w/ the legends. Face it milan has been a cup team for 3-4 seasons. That is why i brought the manutd analogy. The difference between them winning CL last year and us eyar before, they dominated league whole way. In champions league final i'd say no1 was more integral than paul scholes, an absolute legend. plus there strong back line and keeper. However throughout season, it was likes of nani, tevez, anderson all putting great perfomances. (not to mention ronaldo....) But my point is scholes, giggs, they are manutd when i think of it, but because of age they cant play as much. And thats where our squads headed. Gattuso and pirlo look shells of themselves cause they r overplayed. Kaka is only human. In modern football, you need more than just a good first team.

This kind of deal that we all fear of.....
I think it's just media speculation to sell papers. Personally, I think the deal is Sheva was probably bought outright at around 15m euros and with a cut paycheck (this much has been confirmed by Galliani). Chelsea probably don't want to divulge the details as their club made a massive loss on Sheva (30 m euros?) and Milan probably don't want to divulge the details as many fans were strongly against signing Sheva at all, never mind at a price that's relatively high.
Kaka` when he is (what age?) OVER players like Rui Costa (age 29/30 at that time?).
Kaka was 22 when he became a starter at Milan ;)
I have one question for all the people who want to buy young players...
Do you want us to become an Inter?
considering that most of the young talents are none-Italian(mostly Brazilian/Argentinian) buying atleast 5 players of them would instantly put the Italian players on the bench, hence having at tops 2 Italian starters, which is not good for an Italian team
well thats what I think, what do you think ? :)
If it's true we brought Sheva for around 15 euros, I just can't think of it. He is not young (read : OLD) and did 'nothing' in Chelsea which means to me he will be use as squad-rotation player (bench player) but we paid around 15 mil euro only for bench player? Very strange! :(
Siregar: You raise an interesting point. We bought Borreillo for about 9m when he could have been free, and we paid (let's assume) 15m euros for Shevchenko when he did nothing.
How ironic; we let go of a Gilardino who now seems to start scoring.
It makes me wonder whether it's the PLAYER"s ability or really it's the TACTICS that the team has decided to employ. Remember, there is no right or wrong; it's a matter of tactics.
But here is the trick as we are making a fundamental attribution error here: We assume that it's Sheva who declines, but we never assume that it's Chelsea (its environment, playing styles, teammates etc.) that can also influence his performance.
I think that's what happened to Gilardino, and I hope that a Milan enviornment is going to resurrect some of these players (e.g., R80; Sheva).
Sometimes it works (Seedorf, Pirlo, etc.), sometimes it fails (Rivaldo, R99 etc.)
WHo knows....

JEFF:
Of course its a matter of players managing and tactics. Look at what Prandelli is doing with his players ( even BROCCHI!). Look at what he did with Gilardino, Adriano in Parma, Cigarini, Dessena, Bonera, Montolivo and so on...
Absolutely, so taking this into account, we may not be surprised that Sheva cost like $15M.
Mind you, that's actually half of what Chelsea has paid for...

15 mil that's pretty much indeed for such an old player that didn't play well for the last 2 years. Chelsea bought one of the best forwards in the world that won everything individually and as a team, he was a starter and we couldn't even imagine a Milan without him. We bought a player that failed with chelsea and was bound to leave rather sooner than later hence the diffrence in price.
We got less for Olivera who proved to be just a Seri a misfit but did play well in the primera division and he is much younger, investing in Olivera means there is a possibility that he could be sold again unlike sheva who adds to our nummerous players who are stipulating to grow old at Millanello. Let's hope they do it in grace...
I believe in what I see/hear/read. Sheva didn't play his share of games with Chelsea so he is declining. If he proves me wrong and scores in his first 5 games 4 times then it was totally Chelseas fault. It's up to Sheva to prove me wrong. But you are only aswell or as bad as your last game.
Are we up to the Scudetto Challenge? It depends on how good Sheva, R80 and Borriello fit in and how long Kaka, Nesta and Maldini will be injured imo. It could be we win everything or we could fail to qualify for CL just aswell. This season we are on crossroads, failure will definatly mean chopping time... No more excuses
Absolutely, so taking this into account, we may not be surprised that Sheva cost like $15M.
Mind you, that's actually half of what Chelsea has paid for...
But for me Jeff, 15 mil (we assume this price) is too much for 32-year-old striker. I dont remember exactly what Madrid paid for Ruud Van Nistelrooy, I think it's 10 mil pounds (in that time it would be around 15 mil euros) but he was still 30 years old (peak of age of a striker before his play declines).
It's so much different between 32 years old and 30 years old. I remember when Roma brought Batistuta, he was 30 years old in that time (CMIIW) and Roma did pay a lot for Bati and Bati 'gave' Scudetto for Roma but since then his peformance went down rapidly as he was aging (starting around when he was middle 31 or 32 years old).
And about the price Chelsea paid, let's assume the most media said, it's 30 mil euros (in that time = around 45 mil euros) so it means we paid 1/3 from what Chelsea paid (but still too much for 32 yo striker IMO) but I still believe other few sources that say 35 mil pounds (and make him the most expensive player in Premier League).
That was very much a guess on my part, just giving a rough idea on my opinion of the deal.
Assuming what media said that Chelsea wanted a loan move for Sheva with a must-buy for 13 mil pounds in the coming year, I think 15 mil euros is a very good guess.
But for me Jeff, 15 mil (we assume this price) is too much for 32-year-old striker. Fair enough...
Now speaking from a 'familial' perspective, is this move ever surprising? Aboslutely not. Berlusconi loves Shevchenko and treats him like a son.
How much is a son-like player? Priceless.
It might sound ridiculous, but 15m to buy back your 'son' is a treat :).

Yes Jeff, if it's about family you are absolutely right, it's priceless. Especially he is the lost son of Berlusconi.
Now, will Carlo use 2 striker upfront or still the christmas three formation? We still have R80 and Seedorf as second striker, in the midle we have lot options (I really want to see Pirlo, Flamini and Cardacio :) ) and in attack we have Sheva, Pato and Inzaghi available.
Sheva will bring horror to the the Serie A defences again, you will see...
the next 2 years he will be unstoppable
I knew this transfer was bound to happen someday.
I have mixed feelings about Sheva. I somehow still love the guy but I also still hate him for leaving us. If he stayed he could have been a legend. Now it's just Sheva for me.
32 years is old for a striker of his type. Inzaghi is older, but he has more of a poacher role, so he has less running to do.
I don't think Sheva has really declined, I would rather call it aged.
I'm sure he still has the same qualities and technique he also had when he left us. The Chelsea environment just didn't suite him. And after 7 years of success at Milan, every other club probably looks like crap.
Just look at Henry and Barca, it will never be the same as at Arsenal. Does that mean Henry is declining in form? I think, no.
I am curious to see how the fans in the stadium will react when Sheva makes his first appearence.
I also fear he will get a special treatment from Berlu. (hope Pato keeps the 7)
No special treatment from Carlo obviously, his door was never open for Sheva I think. Too bad he usually doesn't get to select the transfer targets. :lick:
Oh I also expect a new defender the be bought this week. A player from Italy I think.......Zapata. Braida is just waiting to pull this off.
By not signing Ferarri or Ivanovic we have proven we are going for a first team player, not a bench player. We have no more non-EU spots because Carlo prefers to keep Viudez in the squad. So it will be a player playing in Italy or a EU player.
Yes Jeff, if it's about family you are absolutely right, it's priceless. Especially he is the lost son of Berlusconi.

COnsidering that some of our attack forces will be injured at one point in time, I don't think this will ever be an issue ;).

As long as their association-trained or home grown then who cares what nationality their from.
Perfect example regarding Inter is Jiminez and Muntari who are both young and quality players that are Association-trained. You cant buy an Italian player like Jiminez for 5 million, since any Italian player who has any bit of talent is overpriced.

well thats what I think, what do you think ? :)
Milan will never turn to be an Inter as long as Berlusconi co. owns Milan. Milan transfer policy is to use italian players as many as Milan can (with condition : there are italian players suit to Milan standard). Milan choosed to bring Gila for a lot of money a couple years ago instead of finding other non italian player which could be cheaper or better.
In addition it would be very difficult to find a high calibre central defender(s) and defensive midfielder(s) from outside italy. It's much easy to find or train italian players from such departement (CD and DM). We are not Inter with respect of quality standard for defensive positions especially the CDs. We must have the best-rank players for our CD and we know which nationality most these players have.
That's why Milan still and will mantain its image as a club that always send many italian players to their national team.

True, Milan will always maintain its Italian Contingent and Gilardino for the exagerated price 24 million is the only way to do to obtain young quality Italian players unless the club grows its own.
But what were seeing in the past 3 seasons, is that due to the exagerated prices of young Italian players, Galliani has been investing in older more accomplished players like Favalli, Oddo,Zambrotta, Brocchi.
My god I was on some Chelsea forums! And the arrogance by those stupid fans is unbelievable! Its like they live in a hole in the ground and only watch Chelse and England...
Milan is nothing, history matters nothing, serie a is worthless ( most titled league in the world ) and so on. Sheva was never good, he was just scoring in an inferior league! MORONS! I hope United kills then once again so they win **** ONCE AGAIN! As it has always been that way anyway.
Now the CB...we wait.
I'm finding it hard to bite my tongue on this shevchenko debacle, only time will tell how the situation will pan out and if it's been a good decision or not.
Will Berlusconi's selfishness bite him on the ass or will everything be just as it was to the joy of a surprising amount of sycophantic fans.
As more and more of the nonsense of silly season, players buying out contracts, astronomical wages, players out of touch with reality, I've felt more and more distant from them. The only players that I have consistenly loved since I followed Milan in '88 were MVB, Pippo and Paolo. But more and more, I only have feelings for the shirt; if players want to go somewhere else for money or glory or whatever, just go. If you want to play for a great team with great history, support, and motivation, then stay. If you stay, then give it your all and get on with the business of playing your heart out each and every game. I don't care if Milan played with 11 no-name Italian amateurs, if they played their asses off and loved representing the shirt, then that is fine with me. Of course I want titles and glory, but not at the expense of looking foolish, of having players unhappy, or wanting to leave, or whatever. Pippo represents the best of Milan, obviously Paolo too.
Forza Milan!

yes Jim_UK, right.
do AC Milan sycophantic fans remember we failed to qualify for a Champions' League place? :rollani:
And we finished for 2 campionati very far behind the Moratti circus ...
We have to admit that there were some mistakes in the last 2 summer market, with no doubt. :d55:
talking about $heva (45 mil. €),
[forgetting Vieri and Amoroso],
he was replaced with
Gila (25) gone for 16
Oliveira (22), gone for 10/12
then with Ronaldo (9),
then Pato (22) and finally Borriello (5,2, even if he was just ours) ...
:grinser: no, it's not over beacuse our smart :p155: board gives us $heva again ( 15 mil. ? )
If our lacks during these 2 campionatos were found in
- the keeper,
- the substitute of Pirlo
- the power forward in order to beat all the small teams that defend in 10 men at San Siro
- a world class CD
well, Abbiati may be ok,
Flamini may be considered in a certain way ok too,
about the 3th need, if u tell me that Sheva is the answer,
for the 4th, why not Roque Junior?
this is all what we want to hear from Kakà (http://it.youtube.com/watch?v=DjYTgwDizbk)
:fero:
Am I the only one that thinks Kaladze and Bonera are good enough?
they are good sometimes but kaladze is a constant threat...almost every game kaladze makes one or two heavy mistakes, only if a player like nesta is there to hold his hand we can win...i am afraid bonera isn't good enough to cover for both of them.
Bonera---Nesta= solid defense
Kaladze---Nesta=solid defense if kaladze isn't having one of his bad days
Kaladze---Bonera=Looks shaky to me
No nesta= No defense

That's a good point, but can't we count on Maldini this season in case Nesta is out? I know getting a CB would be perfect, but isnt the team we have now adequate? I don't know anymore, i'm just asking.

You've completely missed my point :rollani:
The sycophantic element i was referring to was that of Shevchenko not of Milan itself, the fans who are over celebrating his return without seemingly thinking of the negative impact his arrival might have.
He WAS great for us...and I'll never forget the Lazio game where he came on and rescued our asses but he WAS also crap for Chelsea and that WAS very very recently.....people who speak of the dearth of chances and EPL being a poor/ inferior league with less tactics should keep in mind that :
1) he has had ENOUGH chances but couldn't integrate himself
2) His shot selection seems to be a thing of the past
3) His shot accuracy would make Gila look like a marksman
4) HE DESTROYED MUCH OF HIS LEGENDARY PACE BY TRAINING BADLY...There was an article where Desailly advised him to alter his routine to get back his speed.....hope for our sorry state he could get back some
5) he scores for Ukrraine alot which I must admit is somewhat comforting...BUT he is the focal point of attack there ......seems like another Milan-Gila debacle again imho
6)Chelsea and ManU made the CL final + Arsenal and Liverpool were in the quarters.......the EPL couldn't be that much of a crap league if they have been owning the cl that way
7)Conversely...if the epl WAS a crap league...shouldn't he have been scoring by the boatload
So all the silly excuses why he falied at Chel$ki don't fly either

jim_uk, I was thinking just about the impact caused by the arrive of $heva . A waste of money, difficulties inside the team, the impossibility now to sign a no EU player, changes of strategy, continuous contradictions, the holes that remain the same in the team, the dissatisfaction of a gret part of the fans...
the only hope is $heva returns as at his old times

I know what you mean, the idea of maldini saving us while nesta is out and vice versa is the only thing that helps me sleep until we get alex!
Another thing, our midfield is way stronger than last year and our fullbacks are better so, hopefully, that should be enough if our mercato is over.

I wouldn't think about money, eu spots,or strategy, for me the biggest problem is that this could brake apart our dressing room.
Last year when they started talking about him coming back some players (can't remember who, gattuso and maldini maybe- help please) said they don't want him anymore. Now we see that carlo doesn't want him and that berlu doesn't care as long as his dear sheva comes back.
Same goes for ronaldinho, berlu's son said publicly that milan doesn't need him and that we need a striker like drogba or abebayor.
The thing is that obviously no one can tell berlu anything...carlo, galliani...just puppets.
This could turn ugly if things go wrong
I'm not a betting man, but I would place money on Carlo not being coach next year...and not entirely through things that are in his control.

difficulties inside the team, I wrote above...
There is only a problem, a big one, which it has been formed owing to an incredible number of mistakes.
$heva is simply the last one.

I am so happy mate to read your post. Finally you wake up. :D
I don't want him to play so often that we have to depend on him. Nesta seems like he's not fit enough to start every game, so that freaks me out.
Btw, we're playing like **** in Gijon. No teeth. Paloschi missed a couple of easy chances.
Let's discuss about this game in the suitable thread. It's so empty there. :D
We do need a great DC. I am really afraid about our defence. We just let the goal from opponent easy to made. :(
His sense of positioning is just terrible. I don't know what happened to him. Whenever there's a cross, he always seems to be in the wrong place, marking the wrong guy, leaving someone free behind him... He used to be a lot better. If they have one more rabbit in the hat, I hope its Zapata. Or nothing.

May I politely point out that R99 was in a very similar situation when he joined Milan and your reaction was very different.
But of course... R99 is much better than Sheva.
J
I also dont know. Since he recovered from his injury, he looks like another type of defender. :(
May I politely point out that R99 was in a very similar situation when he joined Milan and your reaction was very different.
But of course... R99 is much better than Sheva.
JMay I politely remind you that there was NOTHING wrong with R99's GAME...it was his fitness that was in doubt. also R99 never had problems adapting to scoring in ANY team...he moved to teams in diverse leagues and outstripped other star established players. He still had his acceleration and some of his pace...just not the stamina and R99 IS a marksman...NONE of these apply to Sheva
Out of all discussions: for people who said that Galliani was a lyer, he said that Sheva and Ronaldinho would be 180% ours in Aprile, now they are ours ... what a god of mercato !! lol
I would go even further saying that Galliani "rules the transfermarket"
He has had all the players he said he would have few months/weeks later, that then he said he couldn't have and that to finish he said we would have again ... someone understanding me ? lol
No link with CDs ... 7 days to find one.
that's politics, at least we got all our players at a decent price,
would Galliani choose to pump up the interest and make our intentions clearer - we would definetly pay more
So for moment (today/tonight), our first team is:
GK: Abbiati, Dida, Kalac
=> Ideally, Dida or Kalac should be sold/loaned, but that won't happen.
Defense: Zambrotta, Oddo, Bonera, Nesta, Maldini, Kaladze, Antonini, Jankulovski, Favalli + Darmian
=> We'll maybe add a CD in that list ... there are 2 RB, 3 LB, 4 CD + Darmian, it's a bit stupid. Ideally again, the best would be 2 RB + 2 LB + 4 CD + 1 young, and if we buy a CD, we'll have 2+3+5+1.
Midfield: Pirlo, Gattuso, Ambrosini, Flamini, Brocchi, Emerson, Cardaccio
=> Will Brocchi go ?! Or Emerson ??
Attacking midfield: Kaka', Ronaldinho, Seedorf
=> Perfect
Forwards: Pato, Inzaghi, Borriello, Shevchenko, Paloschi, Viudez
=> Like defense, it's a bit a stupid situation there ...
On Loan: Gourcuff + Abate
On italics is my opinion ...

Of course, I don't bash him, I even defended him on some previous pages ...
It's just funny, he was a "lyer" for some people but he got all the players that seemed to interest him for real.

I knew that being in the UEFA cup would not affect our transfer market. I knew Berlusconi was going to come back roaring after watching his beloved Milan get hurt.
I think we all owe the management alot after such a great transfer market, but I have to admit - they are the ones that put us in this mess in the first place. Grazie uncle Silvio for the great market!
One more CD and we would be PERFECT! Would also be nice to see a few names go out so we could also cut some expenses (*cough* DIDA *cough*).
for the great market!
I disagree. It's not great market but only good market IMO. :)
Now that Sheva is here...really lets put aside all the criticisms and watch him play...I'm damn sure he will be great addition for at least next two years for sure
Guys...just wanted to know..
How good is Zapata??? Hope he is as good as Inter's Cordoba...
Is he available??? How much he costs???
Heard that Udinese has contracted him up until 2010...is that right?
Havent seen much of him (as we seldom gets to see Udinese matches......Serie A is not so popular in India....Its behind the English, Spanish and even the Bundesliga)
We could have solved our current CB situation by buying Kompany for £6 million, that's all Man City paid (i believe). For me he would have been a better option than either Senderos or Kovac, his versatility as a defensive midfielder would have come in handy (meaning we wouldn't have to rely on Brocchi or Emerson).
However, that opportunity has passed and now we must look for another good deal. We're obviously not going to shell out on Zapata (it won't be much longer before someone snaps him up) Ivanovic or Thiago Silva, so anyone have any new ideas on who we could get?

Yup Kompany allready played a very good match for City and they paid about € 8,5 mil. That ship has sailed for now.
Udinese just signed Sala, hopefully as a replacement for zapata who will come to us;).
We can still dream, can we...

The team doesn't need only 1 DC, the team needs and a good GK, i can't trust Calac Dida or Fiori, those players are finished.I can't belive Milan is paying them each year!I just can't believe it!
Remember my words even if we sign the best DC of the world(HA!HA!) we will loose many points and games from the current GK's we have. GK's position is very important for each club, looking ours the one is worst from the other.
I can't see us winning Serie-A or Uefa with 3 bad GK's.For sure they will make many mistakes in that year.
Completely out of left field and not a position we need to fill, but i'd like to see Adriano (Seville winger) join us. I think he'd make a great squad addition and an ideal Serginho replacement.

I still can't believe that peope are not happy with the transfers already done?
Management promised Ronaldinho and Shevchenko and they delivered. All the on-off negotiation rumours was just media garbage selling newspapers.
The promised depth to the squad and they brought in Flamini, Antonini, Zambrotta, Borriello and promoted youth players and bought youth players from Uruguay.
Maybe we should have bought Benzema, Eto, Deco, Diego, Quaresma and then if they struggled in their first season of serie-a then we could find someway to blame Galliani for buying too many stars at once
Some people are never satisfied.
Management have obviously made the scudetto the priority and they feel that experienced serie-a players are better for the team than stars that have never played in the league before
Therefore based on that theory and on the known players(excluding the youngsters) we bought only Flamini and Ronaldinho are gambles. Flamini has already shown that he was a great buy and fits in perfectly.
Yes, the defensive injury crisis puts us under pressure to find a starting CB but I have faith that we will get somebody before the deadline

As for the Sheva move...
Lots of rumours stating that somehow Kaka was included in some future deal. If thats the case then management have made mistake. On the other hand if we lose the scudetto this season and we didn't bring in all the players we have, he would have probably left anyway.
Sheva didn't adapt to the EPL and had 2 surgeries while he was over there and hardly any game time. And Chelsea's 4-5-1 is very different to our 4-5-1/4-3-2-1 which cleary didn't suit his style of play. Yet he still managed to score some great goals while he was there.
So clearly he hasn't forgotten how to score goals, which is something we need.
Milan desperately need to win a scudetto and that means scoring goals and conceeding as few as possible.
Inzaghi hasn't got 90min in him anymore but is still the classic match-winner that can come on in the 2nd half.
Borriello if he gets match time and can reproduce last seasons form could do wonders with Milan however he is injured.
Kaka is out for who knows how long and every little knock he gets over the season could put him out for a few games here and there. What if he has a loss of form this season, happens to everyone?
Ronaldinho is under pressure to perform and deliver and if he buckles under the pressure then what?
Pato has so much talent it isn't funny and we saw what he did last season even when the pressure was on but we all know ur 2nd season is the hardest.
Paloschi has a lot to learn still and we can't put all the scoring pressure on him, although he handled it well during pre-season.
Which leaves us with Sheva, the 2nd highest scorer in Milan's history who still knows how to score and knows serie-a like the back of his hand.
This is the same Sheva who time after time when Milan had their backs to the wall, almost single-handedly won games for us.
This is the same player who would deliver when Kaka wasn't given the space or had a bad
Based on the above and his dark exit, he will be under pressure to perform and he will have to shoulder the scoring responsibilty for the early part of the season.
I realise that fans are still unhappy with him leaving but of all the strikers out there I think he is the only one who will handle all the pressure that will be on him.
I could be totally wrong and we will see at the end of the season and if I am I will admit it then.
Time will tell

Good, balanced post there jmac....I wish I could be as even-keeled in terms of this latest aquisition.
$heva, for me, shouldn't have been brought back, and certainly not at the price of a nonEU spot.
This limits who we can now aquire for the CB position, which the Sporting Gijon match highlighted as an area where we continue to be below par.
One could argue that Paloschi on a different day would have scored even one of the clear cut chances he got, and thus made a different game of it....but the 1st goal Gijon scored was simply poor defending.
The 2nd...well...good free-kick...won't argue that one...
Unless we bring in a CD, even with R80, $heva, et al, I think we will not have prepared as best as we could have, given the circumstances.

Official: Milan Sign Senderos
Milan have completed the signing of Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos on a one year loan deal, with the option to make the move permanent next summer.
»Comments Print This Story Send To A Friend Contact Us galleria zoom The Rossoneri have been desperately searching for a centre back in recent weeks following the injury to key man Alessandro Nesta.
With Dario Simic and Digao both being offloaded, things started to become desperate for the Rossoneri when primary target Branislav Ivanovic, who had seemed certain to join from Chelsea, saw his transfer fall through at the last moment.
It was reported last week that Milan had turned their attentions to another Premiership based player, in the form of Arsenal centre back Philippe Senderos, and the deal has now been officially completed.
The Swiss centre back arrives on a one year loan deal, and Milan have the option to make the move permanent for a set fee next summer.
Senderos had been well down the pecking order at Arsenal following an error-prone season last term, and Arsene Wenger signalled his intention to let him leave after signing Manchester United’s Mickael Silvestre last week.
The 23-year-old Senderos made 74 Premiership appearances, scoring four goals, since signing for Arsenal from Servette in December 2002.
He has won 31 caps for Switzerland, playing at World Cup 2006 and Euro 2008.

Noooo, pls it's not trueee..:(
well.. nothing on acmilan.com yet so might be some editor whose bored :D
Thanks mate, you make me feel better.
We dont need average player for defence departement as we have already many defenders but we lack the DC with quality guarantee.
Once again the management didn't listen to Carlo and bought him an average player in defence when he clearly wanted a defender who could take over the place of Kaladze right away, but i hope Senderos doesn't play like he did in Arsenal he did some awful mistakes playing there maybe he just needs a change of environment (me optimistic):devf:
