View Full Version : Summer Mercato
I actually like Senderos :guw: but I know you guys hate him so I'll shut up ...just know he isn't as bad as people say. :ende:

Pro's: he adds height and power for set pieces
Con's: Kaladze v2
I hope Zapata is still around next summer.... :(
We have to remember, we are not a CL team this year. With slashed funds and the appeal of playing in the big tournament, we will have to scratch at what we can get. Based on the fact that we are not in the CL, I think we really had a good summer which will hopefully only get better next summer.

Only seen the Senderos news on Goal.com myself. Neither Milan or Arsenal seem to have announced anything yet.

I think people are too harsh on Senderos. Yes, he is not a world class central defender, but how many of those do you find that are 23years old? What we get is a young (23 is very young for a CB) player with quite a bit of experience (for his age) both for Swiss and in top European level. Senderos has good physical attributes that we need, and his biggest weakness seem to be marking. Now remember, we have two legendary CBs in the club in Paolo and Nesta, and Senderos will definantly be in good hands in terms of learning and improving. Oh and another positive thing: he already speaks italian! In other words he will most likely dont need as much time to adapt to Italy as many other players.
The negative thing though is that he has been injuried alot so far in his football-life. But since this is a loan deal with option to buy, we can ship him back if it fails. But if this succeeeds, we will have a potential world class CB for 10-15 years to come.

Not sure how I feel about the Senderos move as I was hoping we get a CB that was clearly WC and not someone that has the potential to be world class. Plus, I'm not sure that Senderos is an improvement over Kaladze at this point. But in spite of this, you have to hand it to Milan's mgmt! They have done an absolutely OUTSTANDING job at revamping our squad with both starting players and depth. If you look at our lineup, we are at least 2 deep in every position.
GK: ABBIATI, Kalac, Dida
RB: ZAMBROTTA, Oddo
LB: JANKULOVSKI, Antonini, Favalli
CB1: NESTA, Senderos, Darmian
CB2: KALADZE, Bonera, Maldini
CDM1: GATTUSO, Brocchi
CDM2: FLAMINI, Ambrosini
CM: PIRLO, Emerson, Cardacio
CAM1: KAKA, Seedorf
CAM2: RONALDINHO, Viudez
FW: SHEVCHENKO, Pato, Inzaghi, Borriello (Paloschi should be sent out on load shortly)
That's pretty impressive and I believe we have enough depth to cover in the case of injury - with the exception of Pirlo. If Pirlo needs a rest or god forbid gets injured, I think we would have to get away from the Xmas tree and use the 4-2-3-1. Do I wish we could have signed a GK like Boruc or a CB like Zapata? Sure. But let's not get greedy here. Milan have signed 5 players this summer that will immediately crack our starting XI and potentially 6 if Senderos works out. We needed some changes and we certainly made them. I can't remember a season I've been looking forward to more than this upcoming one.

Agree completely, we surely have gotten a much better transfersummer than what i was expecting, even if it's not every player that I wanted that we got. Also its important to consider the young players we now have. Senderos, Cardacio, Viudez, Borriello, Paloschi (new to the senior squad even if he played last season), Darmian, Antonini and Flamini (young compaired to what we are used to) in addition to obviously Pato from last x-mas. We surely have some great prospects for the future in addition to the old and experienced players.
Now we can play: what will be our team Sunday against Bologna ?!
My thought (not my wish lol):
Abbiati
Zambrotta-Bonera-Kaladze-Jankulovski
Flamini-Pirlo-Ambrosini
Seedorf-Ronaldinho
Pato (sub by Inzaghi or Shevchenko)
this actually isnt the place but w/e :D
Abbiati
Zambro Bonera Maldini(Nesta? :P) Janku
Flamini Pirlo Seedorf
Ronnie
Pato Sheva
instant when that should be :O
Maybe you could say that they're the same quality, but to some people (including me), their quality is far different.
I don't mind having abbiati @ the moment, while hoping Dida may once again show his worth. But not with Senderos in front of them.. he's like Kaladze v.2.
But heck... welcome Senderos :)

Good, balanced post there jmac....I wish I could be as even-keeled in terms of this latest aquisition.
$heva, for me, shouldn't have been brought back, and certainly not at the price of a nonEU spot.
This limits who we can now aquire for the CB position, which the Sporting Gijon match highlighted as an area where we continue to be below par.
One could argue that Paloschi on a different day would have scored even one of the clear cut chances he got, and thus made a different game of it....but the 1st goal Gijon scored was simply poor defending.
The 2nd...well...good free-kick...won't argue that one...
Unless we bring in a CD, even with R80, $heva, et al, I think we will not have prepared as best as we could have, given the circumstances.
Warro, as long as this isn't a long-term solution then I reckon we are ok. Pato/Paloschi are the future of this club and if Palsochi isn't loaned out, I would like to see the 2 of them partnered in the early phases of Coppa or UEFA group games etc
Inzaghi/Sheva could have an immense effect on their development.
Could prove to be a huge mistake but every transfer made by any team in any league faces that possibility

I keep reading about these rumors that Milan wrote up the framework for a Kaka move to Chelsea for next season as part of their Sheva negotiations. I can't see that happening. Kaka may end up in Chelsea next year, but in no way did Kaka come up during the Sheva talks. I'm guessing the secretive nature of the negotiations comes from Berlu deciding to spend money out of his own pocket to bring Sheva back. Chelsea were desperate to get rid of him and so agreed to keep things hush hush.

Ok so my assessment of this mercato:
Some very good moves (R10, Flamini, Zambrotta)
Some ok moves (Boriello, Cardacio, Viudez, Senderos)
Some poor moves ($heva, and possibly Senderos, no GK, no physically imposing CF/Striker)
All in all, enough to almost guarantee a top 4 finish IMO, but it will take all of Carlo´s ingenuity to get silverware with these additions, especially where we have our competition also strengthening.
Still not satisfied completely, as the Senderos and $heva purchases for me were not the best available, but as with most things, only time will tell.
FORZA MILAN!! Lets see what this mercato will bring for us this term.

Great post Warro :respect: (Congrats on switching to sugar free Kool-Aid :D )
What bothers me is that the Arsenal fans are HAPPY about Senderos going and those that aren't are upset simply because of the squad size and not the loss of quality.
Personally I like Senderos but in truth I haven't been watching him closely this season at all and I'm guessing there must be something behind his being so malinged by the gunners. The same thing we did with Grimi....he was strongly disliked by the Racing Santander fans and hever even got the chance to do anything much with us (other than pick up a CL medal :v46: )
Poor Carlo, he must be :5drunk: after hearing the news
Yeah, poor Carlo. He is given strange players by boards! :(
Thus far Carlo has been interested in/asked for:
Totti
Ribery
Toni
Trez
RVN
Gallas
He has made negative comments or shown his dislike for:
Sheva
Ronaldinho
Thus far we have gotten the two players that he doesn't want and haven't gotten most of the important players that he DID want. :wallbang:
Guys I think Senderos can prove him self this season.
Truth is I never really had a problem with the guy, but the PL and Arsenal was too paced for him, he will suit Seria A. He's young, talented and when on form can be a tank - the only bad side to him is his confidence against tough strikers, for those who don't know what i mean just watch every game arsenal played chelski and how Drogba owned him.
Sanderos' move to Milan (if the news is true) is really unbelieveble for me. Carlo wants CD better than he has but he probably get only Sanderos which is the replacement for Simic (well, Diagao is more suitable, both are big posture).
I really can't understand what makes boards are soooooo sure that nothing wrong with the defence!
Thus far we have gotten the two players that he doesn't want and haven't gotten most of the important players that he DID want. :wallbang:
You can imagine how Carlo feels when his requests are nearly always ignored and he ends up getting players that he doesn't want or don't fit into his system.
Its like Sacchi said, they are trying to test Ancelotti.
Its like Sacchi said, they are trying to test Ancelotti.
Yeah, to probably make him walk out so they don't have to fire him.
Its like Sacchi said, they are trying to test Ancelotti.
3 saummers of Carlo testing have passed now, still no results from the puppy... They can buy him a woman player he would say: " ok, we are fine."
Senderos is not good enough for Milan first 11.

The team doesn't need only 1 DC, the team needs and a good GK, i can't trust Calac Dida or Fiori, those players are finished.
Fiori is retired.
Senderos is a great defeneder, you will see...
I haven't seen so much whiney little bitching on this board in quite a while...
When did Ancelotti say that he doesn't like Sheva or Ronnie? He said a long time ago that they may not be the players milan currently need, but he was really happy when Ronnie came and we are yet to see his reception of Sheva...
you, "Milan fans" make me sick... Show me an excellent 23 year old central defender, will you? Senderos is a perfect starting material, he will be the next Stam for Milan...
Sheva perhaps will not be the greatest again, but he will help Milan, of that I am certain.. Last season we had a problem with toothless attack. If Sheva and Ronnie aren't improvements, then I don't know what the **** do you expect...
I have never been so disappointed with this discussion board before. It seems that Senderos Move is true...
I think Milan did not need a starter. they needed a sub.
In fact, I'm not that happy but he is young and very strong Physically. not sure about his technical ability.I don't think he will make it to the first 11 bcos i know Carlo doesn't usually trust young ones specially in defense.

You're the one using the phrase "whiney little bitching" about those with differing opinions. And people should be allowed to "worship" the club as they like; some may praise everything Galliani and Berlu does, others may criticise management at all times. If you ask me neither of those extremes get you anywhere.
Management have over all done a good job, but Senderos wasn't the best option for CB, not was Sheva a good purchase at all - and so on.
And who says the management-fans aren't prone to the "I told you so"-rant, who says that they, if our seasons turns sour by february (God forbid), won't say "Galliani sucks - we should've acted differently in mercato" etc. You can't predict those things, as little as you can predict how the team will fare once the season gets going.
EDIT: And the excellent young central defender: the Brazilians Thiago Silva, Alex Silva and Miranda (all 23), and of course Zapata (21).

Next season we will sign one more CB after we will say GOODBAY to CAPITANO!!!
You're the one using the phrase "whiney little bitching" about those with differing opinions.
well, that's because I am sick and tired of pages and pages of something like
"oh no, sheva sucks, he is a traitor, he is now a crap player, why did we bother?"
"senderos?! ZOMFG!!! senderos SUXORZ!! he is like worse than Simic, noone ever wanted him!!"
"ronaldinho?!!! ffs!!!! he is a marketing move!! we will sell more shirts but nothing beyond that!"
now an opinion would be something like
"senderos isn't really the player we should have got, I watched him the entire last season, Arsenal lost all the games with him playin and at the age 23 he is definitely too old to improve"
there used to be time when people first warmly welcomed the player, then inspired him, and then shared the joys of victories with him...
now, only bitching here...
EDIT: And the excellent young central defender: the Brazilians Thiago Silva, Alex Silva and Miranda (all 23), and of course Zapata (21).
ALL unproven in terms of consistent season performances,... and don't even get me started on the "highest level performances"

milanmania isn't the same anymore, what a shame
Hope MM is the same as always,as .... i am back for good :)
Till now i have seen some good transfers like Flamini, Ronaldinio and now Senderos, which is young and thats the spirit i want to see in Milan.
I hope Kaka is well this year also and also i accept that Sheva is again a Milan player, so its fine with me, he will help us in the campaign (he will never be my beloved Sheva again though)
Happy to be back at mm :)
Let's face it, Milan isn't gonna splash the cash anymore. From here on out there will probably be just one massive signing maybe once every other year in between lots of stop-gap signings and cheaper investments in South American players.
This has been the policy for a while now. It's time we Milan fans accept this reality.
Big money signings, for the moment, they're going elsewhere. Hopefully soon the cycle will return to Italy like in the 80s and 90s. We will see. But c'mon, there's no need to be melodramatic about new signings we think are bad choices.
In regards to Senderos, one thing I noticed about him was he's not very good in Premiership style football, which is just too pacey for him (like another guy we just signed). But when he's plays the slower, continental style in CL games and for Switzerland, he seems to adjust to this style better.
So I think he'll do well in Milan, when he gets the chance to play. If he gets a chance to play.
ALL unproven in terms of consistent season performances,... and don't even get me started on the "highest level performances"
It depends on what you mean by "proven". Is Senderos proven because he's played at a certain level, or because he's done good at a certain level? If you go by the first one, then finding a better option than Senderos (in terms of experience relative to his age) is hard. But according to the second...well let's just say there's a reason why Arsenal are offloading him ('cause that's pretty much what they're doing).
In short, he has a great deal of experience for a young player, but he's never excelled at that "highest level".
Is Zapata unproven? He's had a couple of impressive season (great ones for someone in his early 20's), but of course he suffers from playing in a mid-table club - Just like those three Brazilians suffer from playing in O Campeonato Brasileiro.
In my eyes Senderos has failed to live up to his early potential, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.
For sure Milan has signed few players that have future with us.
1. Ronaldinho - he is not an old player, he is 28. And that means 3-4 years of TOP football as we are talking about the worlds most talented player without a doubt. If Dinho manages to train hard Milan will have a player that we dreamed about 3 years ago.
2. Flamini - for me brilliant mercato move, as I see Flamini a player that can offer much more then Ambro ( aldough it sounds harsh on our wice-captain ). But Flamini is a tipical super modern midfielder, fast and tactical, with normal technique. As Ambro and Rino do not have technical abilities of Flamini. I thing you all saw in friendlyes how much space does Flamini cover. Way more then Ambro. Only Rino at top shape can cover such space.
3. Zambrotta - At 31 he is a player that can play on VERY high level, he'll just need 5-6 games to make his feet work properly. Zambro is excellent improvement on Oddo.
4. Senderos - I saw him many times, he didnt look good. But as some say, he is 23. Did GREAT against Milan ic CL though. Maybe Senderon can play well for us!
5. Pato - its like a new signing, trust me. He is magical.
6. Sheva - as Pippo is 35, Boriello is injured and is a good palyer,. but a player that cant make a difference on the pitch, and PAto is a BOY, Sheva will do his duty well Im sure. ( from personal point of wiew, Sheva is not welcomed back by me )
7. Abbiatti - improvement over clowns Dida/Zaljko - for now he is in good form
----------------------------------------------------------------
My only concern, as has olways been in Milan, is that Carlo is not a coach that knows how to manage team in serie a. The way his tteam plays is too complicated and innefective. Milan plays with ups and downs, and that costs points. I hope we will play cruel football this year, aldough with Pato-Sheva-Pato-Dinho-See-KAka'-Pirlo, I dont see it happening :nana:
In short, he has a great deal of experience for a young player, but he's never excelled at that "highest level".
I WATCHED his games against Milan and some other top EPL clubs, and he was a reliable, tough, aggressive defender (kinda like Gattuso in midfield)
Mrki, I disagree that Carlo couldn't manage it in Serie A. He did win it in 04/05 with Gila - Kaka - Sheva.
We'll see how it goes this year.

1 serie A title... 7 years. In that period, only juve was a challenger first 4-5 years. last couple only inter where true challenger. He is a better version of benitez in liverpool. Champion League: 2002 / 2003; 2007 / 2008; and we all know hwat happened at Istanbul, so I think it may well be fair to add that year, or at least we come close.
None of the teams you mentioned above achieve that.
The take-home point is not that Ancelotti is a great manager; we probably all know that.
The point I'm trying to make is that you really sometimes have to sacrifice one for the other; or at least that's the case for Milan (I know Barcelona and Man U have managed the double). Don't get me wrong, but for the past 7 years or so Milan's squad has not been competitive enough to achieve on both fronts, and I hope you'll agree with me on this assumption. Players like Brocchi, emerson, Tomaason, Simic, Gila et al. are not enough to bring home the SCudetto when clearly Seedorf, Kaka, Pirlo, Nesta et al. are overused.
And I forgot to add: Even the players may think in terms of this: Either CL or Scudetto, but not both. We don't have the mentality strong enough to go for both. The glory of achieving in CL is so tempting, and so rewarding that I won't be surprised if some players think, "heck, who cares about Scudetto? I just want to enjoy CL".

Well, I would not rule out Zambro just yet as his signings reminds me of Cafu. When Cafu came, people thought he was washed up(did not play much in Roma), and just not the same Cafu. But when he comes to Milan, we got the old Cafu back.
As for Sheva, I think once he starts scoring goals, people will forget that he left us.

i agree he's a great manager. But he is a cup manager. He doesnt have the mentality to grind out a season. Or atleast he hasnt shown it, compartive to his counterparts. I wouldnt change carlo....just cause theres no1 better available.
But interesting point on our bench players. you list emerson, simic, gila, brocchi. but inter won last year playing Burdisso alot, maerazzi alot, viera down stretch while clearly over his prime. Do you think its lack of depth or mentality? I think its both. I think we have alot of stars, and alot of primadonnas who think they r stars. They cant be bothered to hussle against seina or palermo. I mean your point o backups being worse is valid, but shouldnt we be able to win w/ gila upfront, and brocchi in midfield along w/ some of our stars.
I dont know where this mentality comes from, but its clear. I thought best way to counter it is to clear our bench, and bring in players like gourcuff, promising youngsters who want the first time who will take most of those opportunities. But one thing to me is clear, this NEEDS to change if we wanna win scudetto
Carlo didnt want Shevchenko!! This is a shame for Milan and Milan ultras, for me, Sheva is not welcomed in Milan shirt anymore. But now he is a Milan player and for the sake of Milan's results I will support him from a "professional" point of wiew. But we are making fools out of ourselves.
.
Totally agree with you, mrki. I believe many of us have mixed feelings about the return of this prodigal son. But since he's a Milan player now, we all must support him.

On the contrary, Siregar, I want to say that what forward says has some truth in it. See bolded part; I'm not going to expand further on that issue. I believe that it is true for a while for some posters, not just one that happened in the near past.
I can also understand forward's frustration (see italic): If it's frustrating to you, it's frustrating to many people; it frustrates me, and the mods. Though you have to understand that this is an open forum: some tolerance of different opinions, so long if not carried too far, should be allowed. We, of course, are aware of the trade-off that some older posts will leave as a result.
This is why I'm glad that people like Ario and Kui are back posting.
I do want to say something about the underlined part. I do not know where you get the idea that mods now allow themselves to bash the team. I believe that mods so far have been rather tolerant to Milan.
One way you can help build a better forum is to post wisely, which I hope you are already doing. Readers are generally smart enough to see who are the substantial posters and who are those, "oh this guy is bad", "wtf is wrong with the team" after one big loss and "it's all good" after one win. You can easily make a reputation for yourself out of that. Key is whether what you say is substantial: By simply saying that "Our squad is enoug hbecause we have flamini, zambrotta etc." is not enough: The key is to explain why and with some logical explanation.
Hope you'll continue to visit MM in the future. - J

The way forward wrote his post could 'attack' himself. He shouldn't say like 'whiney little bitching' just because there is different oppinion to him. This can attract other poster to post and play similar things like forward did.

i already replied to a similar comment like this on a previous page
"sheva is a traitor, he is crap, we are an embarassment" -- THIS IS NOT an opinion
"senderos sucks, he is worse than simic, we are an embarassment" -- THIS IS NOT an opinion
there is nothing to agree with in posts like this, there is even nothing to discuss or to challenge in such person's opinion
if people dislike the signings or the club's politics they should try to post informed opinions, based on some arguments

TO be honest, I am actually pretty happy with the transfer season.
We got Abbiati back, which is a huge upgrade from Dida and Kalac, yes, we should have sign Akineev or Bourc but nobody can state that both of those keepers will be better than Abbiati as they don't speak Italian and never play in Italy before.
Cafu is gone and in with Zambro, to be another huge upgrade. Yes, Alves or Rafinha might be better individually, but I believe Zambro is a much better edition to the current Milan team than the other RB in the world, due to the understanding of the Italian style of play culture.
Serginho for Antonini, well, Vargas would have been a dream, but lets wait for next yr when Favalli is retire and Milan sign Vargas to replace him. Antonini is an upgrade to Serginho b/c of his work rate and defense ability. Although, I only seen him play in Milan friendlies, but he does a lot of running and moving off the ball, while also got good defense sense.
Flamini, no need to say more, as he is byfar one of the best CM in the world.
R80, probably the most talented player in this era, he is getting back into shape and I think by X'mas, he will be the best again.
Borreillo for Gila is a straight swap and I will always take a confident striker over a no confidence striker.
Sheva instead of R99 will give us another weapon upfront but this time Sheva has something to prove to the world.
Sanderous is not much of an upgrade from Simic but he does provide something that we lack, height and power in defense, since Stam left but how Milan didn't sign Mazarrotti for 3M instead of spending 2M on Sanderous on loan is beyond me.
As for the two new Urguarian, I don't know much about them but at least MIlan are signing young guns instead of old timers.
Overall, my only regrets for this summer mercato is Milan not being able to sell the likes of Dida, Kalac, Favalli, Emerson and Brocchi, also giving away their youngsters on a cheap with Mazarrotti and Sammarco and lastly, not trusting in youth, loan of Polashi(will happen) and Abate.
Now that we have finished our purchases, rumours are flooding in of who we'll let go to trim the squad. Today alone we have:
Boriello to Spurs,
Paloschi on loan,
Brocchi to Lazio,
Oddo to Lyon.
Paloshi on loan is an obvious one and a necessary one to help the kid evolve. However, i can't see any logic in selling Boriello as surely that'll just leave us in the exact same striker shortage position before we got Shevchenko.
Oddo to Lyon is an interesting one. I wouldn't be opposed to seeing him go, but i wonder if there's any chance of us swapping him for Grosso. He had some good performances in Euro 2008 and i have to say his performance against Ronaldo at Old Trafford in the CL was probably the best by a full-back in containing/nullifying the Portugese winger.
If Oddo did leave though, it would kind of leave us short of RBs with only Zambrotta as our only recognised right full-back ... *cough* Rafinha *cough* :D
Jeff, Carlo didnt win scudetto in 2004/2005, we won it in 2003/2004 and Gila wasnt in it. It was the team of Sheva,Pippo, young KAka', Seedorf, Rui,Cafu... Correct me people if Im mistaken.
Nevermind, I just wanted to correct the Gila factor - for any coach its impossible to win scudetto with Gila being a forward!:1old::)
Papers say this morning that Paloschi will be loaned out ( normal and good move ), that Lazio want Brocchi ( ...EXCELLENT! as Mr. Burns would say!), and that Oddo may be on his way to Lion. Also, that we may sell Boriello to Tottenham who will loose Berbatov to United.
As far as Oddo and Boriello are concerned I would sell them both! Oddo is 31 and has nothing to do in Milan, to be objective: he had few good defensive moments in CL but he was awfull in 90% of matches. Sell him and Boriello ( England clubs pay well for forwards ) and insert Darmian and Marzoratti in first team. bonera will be RB, and Nesta,Kala,Maldini, Senderon CB's.
Aldough, I dont think Oddo will leave yet. But I would sell him :)
If I am not mistaken, Milan have sold Marzoratti. CMIIW.
As far as Oddo and Boriello are concerned I would sell them both!
If you sell Boriello, you surely have to find another forward as it leaves us with far too few strikers for the season.
I really don't wish to see Bonera at RB, that is a mistake as he can't offer the width or crossing ability we desperately need from our full-backs.
I would only sell these 2 players if we were able to get similar, if not better replacements. The only way to do that is to spend more money, something i don't think we'll do now.
I didnt see any news on Senderos in acmilan.com ???
Why is that ??? Is this same news like Suazo signed for Milan

Oddo - crossing ? :grinser:
Milan will have to play Seedorf, KAka', Ronaldinho and 3 strikers would be enough. Well, as you say, and you are probably right ( as I tend to get carried away, you know, Balkan mentality and all :) ), Milan will most likely need all those players.
And if future I expect some good football from Darmian, we need to loan him. For an 18 year old defender, he looks really promising.
Also, Milan needs to work on Italian mercato as Juve does. It brings you cheep and great players for future Italia NT.
De Ceglie, Giovinco, MArchisio, Palladino ( aldough failed ), Criscito and so on... for sure we could use some players like that.

Was doing some reading on Senderos on Wikipedia and in 05/06 season Sol Campbell was injured which meant Senderos/Toure played together for most of the season and were involved in Arsenal keeping 10 consecutive clean sheets in the UCL.
I try to watch every Arsenal league game and I will say that Senderos plays much better alongside Toure than alongside Gallas.
Yes, he struggles against really big, strong centre forwards but if we partner him with an experienced defender such as Nesta/Maldini, he might turn out to be a great defender.
In his defence (pardon the pun) he does have age on his side and he will have access to 2 of the greatest defenders of all time. Based on our history he has another 10-15yrs with us.
I'm not happy with the transfer but I was one of the ones screaming for younger players in the squad and Management heard my plea, so I will welcome him if it proves to be official.

Isn't it early afternoon in Milan now? Wouldn't he have had his medical by this?

interesting...
It was confirmed yesterday anyway on Milan Channel by Galliani ... I don't see why he would have lied about the acquisition of a player on our own channel ? lol
:wallbang:
Some of those players I have not heard anything of his positive comments about. And come on, don't include Totti, he is/were not a potential transfer. Mention Alex instead, him, Ribery and Toni is the ones I heard about.
At least he got Pato and Emerson.
Otherwise I agree that his wishes isn't exactly fullfilled.

No way is Borriello leaving soon. What team would want him now as he will still be injured for several more weeks and hasn't had any playing time since the Euros. He might leave in January, but I even doubt that.
I can't see us sending Oddo out either. If he leaves, that would leave us with just Zambrotta and Bonera to play RB. And considering our health issues at CB, Bonera will be needed elsewhere. No, I see our RBs being Zambro and Oddo, with Zambrotta potentially switching to LB (in the inevitable instances that Janku is hurt) to give Oddo some minutes.
Paloschi HAS TO GO!!! He could be the next great Italian FW and so he needs minutes to develop in Serie A. Send him out ASAP!
Brocchi to Lazio??? That would certainly be a good thing. I appreciate everything that Brocchi has done for us (I thought he played very well for us during the 1st half of the 2006/07 season.) This season I see us playing 2 DMFs each game and we have currently have 5 players for those 2 spots, 3 of which I consider WC - Gattuso, Ambro and Flamini. Emerson and Brocchi should be seeing less playing time and, while I don't want both players to go for security reasons, I think we should definitely save some money and send one away. Assuming the Senderos news is really official, our roster currently has 31 players! This count includes Paloschi. That's alot!! Personally I think we should get the roster down to 28 by not only loaning out Palo, but selling Brocchi AND Favalli (who I think is completely unnecessary after we signed both Antonini and Zambrotta who I believe will rotate to LB often this season).
I have found out that Čorluka has a clausole of 8 mln pounds in his contract, which means that if a club pays 8 mln pounds the contract is broken up and he is a free player. 10 mln euro for Senderon or 12-13 ( I dont know how much exactly ) for Corluka? Its not hard to conclude which option is better. But the deal wasnt posible after Sheva signed for Milan becouse of Corluka's non EU passport.
Ramos, former Sevilla coach says he'll do everything to sign him before 31.8. And Ramos knows what he is doing, he showed that in Sevilla.
P.S.
to a man above:
If the roster includes 31 players it needs to be smaller. Viudez, Cardaccio, Brocchi, Paloschi, Darmiani can go on loan/ Brocchi sold. That is 27 players which is also much but acceptable.
GK: Abbiatti, Dida, Kalac
DEFENDERS: Nesta, Maldini, Kaladze, Bonera, Senderos, Zambrotta, Oddo, Jankulovski, Favalli, Antonini
MIDFIELDERS: Pirlo, Gattuso, Ambrosini, Flamini, Emerson, Seedorf, Kaka', Ronaldinho
FORWARDS: Pato, Shevchenko, Inmzaghi, Boriello
That is our normal squad for nxt season, assuming that Paloschi, Cardaccio, Viudez and Brocchi will not be with us.
In an interview with Marca (according to goal.com) Usain Bolt says he’s a Madrid fan and wants to train with them. It’s funny because I’ve been thinking about the feasibility of using him as a footballer recently.
Imagine if we signed him and used him as a centre back. He’s fast (:rollani:), tall (1,96 m), he seems to be a leader of men, he’s a real winner and has a fox attitude. In short he could be the Nesta-sub of our dreams. He just needs to learn to play football, really.
Oh, and he’s just 22, so much like Senderos, he has plenty of time to learn from Nesta and Maldini...

He has also been linked with the Miami Dolphins from the NFL...both parties of course issued swift denials...but he will be the centre of a media storm for the short term at the very least.

Per Channel4:
Senderos is the latest swoop for the Diavolo, but the Swiss international defender won't be present on the opening day of the season against Bologna.
“He has a small problem in his back and so we will have to wait 10 days or so to pick him,” Galliani explained.
So we signed a player with a back problem as cover for our starting CB who has a back problem?
The Senderos signing is a good end to our mercato, I think. Like many have said before me, I personally like this player. In the end its props to management for digging deep into their pockets to produce such a mercato for our team.
With this, we have a decent chance for fighting on all 3 fronts, methinks.
Oh, and there was an argument in previous pages about how Milan had not been able to challenge for the Scudetto under Ancelotti. I'd like to remind everyone, however unpleasant it may seem, that in those 7 years, we won it once. However, I'd also like to point out, that in the past couple of years, the entire league has been harshly affected by the Calciopoli. I've always been of the opinion that we were unfairly punished. And to be honest, if things had really gone our way, we probably would have been awarded at least two more Scudetti (we were runners up behind Juve), and been challenging for another one (instead of being docked 8 points). So if things went our way, then we would have had 4 out of a possible 7, maybe more if we'd bought some players like Inter ended up doing (Zambrotta immediately springs to mind). It was just down to circumstances not allowing that to happen.
It's time to right those wrongs though, methinks. A Scudetto this season would suit me just fine ;)

Well,it wasnt the mercato we expected, the world class goalkeeper and defender and the powerful striker didnt come but Milan still did a great job,Ronaldinho,Flamini,Sheva,Zambrotta,Borriello. Also Senderos and Abbiati.I am pleased and looking forward to sunday.Altough we miss allot of players,we dont have to worrie. We are playing in the San Siro against Bologna,we will win the game and Kaka,Nesta,Borriello wil probably be fit for the second matchday.
Sheva was a good purchase,he will fit in i think/hope.
And a other thing,Galliani said in a interview to transfermarketweb that Kaka wasnt involved in the Sheva case and alos Kaka stated that it was a lie and that he is staying for a while.Dont worrie,Kaka wil remain with us until he dies.
But i noticed something interesting in the interview:Galliani said that the transfermarket isnt closed and that new purchases will come:
“The market closes on Monday, but we will make other signings following Shevchenko and Senderos,” he told Calcio Mercato.
I assume some young talents for the primavera will come and not for the first team....or not?Maybe he will suprise us>well i am not counting on it but it would be something for Galliani.
Paloschi will leave and Lyon are tracking Oddo because they need a RB.
Does anyone know what happened to our deal with Felipe (the young goalkeeper from Santos)? Did it go through - or was it never really on?

I watched the interview, listenned to galliani very well and I have not heard him saying "... but we will make other signings following Shevchenko and Senderos".
Maybe I will have lost that passage, but then I've heard Galliani saying "we will probably have movements only in exit", talking about Paloschi, because now Parma owns him at 50%, and Oddo who has refused the transfert to Lione.
Looking Sheva with Milan t-shirt in the training seems like he went for some time for vacation and just came back to Milan to train again with his teammates. :)

actually, Parma has bought Paloschi in a co-ownership deal... so Paloschi is now 50% Milan and 50% Parma :)
its a great thing tbh, he must gain some playing time and experience...
A.C.MILAN COMUNICATO UFFICIALE
27/08/2008
MILANO - L'A.C. Milan comunica che il calciatore Alberto Paloschi è stato ceduto in compartecipazione all'F.C. Parma
btw, Parma are in Serie B now?
Parma is an excellent solution for Paloschi as in Parma they work great with young players. Plus, Parma still has a good squad and serie b will help Paloschi as well to play more.
But still, two youngsters at the same age as Palo ( Pato and Balotelli ) are showing some wild stuff on the pitch. Balotelli has advanced in his game a lot under Mourinho.
News for today: Quaresma will join Inter and trust me trio Quaresma-Ibra-Mancini will play like hell. Also One of Lucho Gonzales or Appiar is going to Juve.
In any case, Milan has a great mercato, maybe we could have found a better solutions then Sheva and Senderon but they are also great players who can help us a lot.
Some players will leave now: Brocchi, Paloschi, Viudez...I assume. Now all we need to do is wait for NEst ( KAka' will be ok for 2nd round ) and Zambrotta, Sheva, Dinho to get fitter.
EDIT:
It would also be good to see Darmian ( or Darmiani??) get loaned somewhere so he can play more. As he is really a promising player for an 18 year old defender. As well as some new young Italian signings for next year when again 5-6 our players will have to quit.
Can't it be in Italy a 100% loan? I don't agree with Paloschi being owned 50% by Parma.
By the way, how much Parma did Parma pay Milan to buy the half of Paloschi contract?
That would be quite something if Juve get Lucho Gonzalez ON LOAN for the season. Could have been a good solution for us too.

well, considering Milan has brought back the 50% owned players they want, i dont see why they will fail bringing back Paloschi ;)
PS: they still(and wont) didnt reveal the price
They won't fail, I agree. But we know Paloschi has huge potential and it would be pretty much for Milan in the coming year(s) to buy Paloschi's other half of contract. Player like this shouldn't be loaned out with co-ownership IMO.

27-08-2008, 06:10
I totally agree with Siregar on this...loan him out by all means...but co-ownership? Why?
What are the advantages for us in a co-ownership deal vis a vis a straight loan?
Either I don't understand the nuances involved in co-ownership, or I am just plain stupid....but my understanding is that in a loan agreement, the side "borrowing" the player usually pays his wages....what obtains when we sell half the players rights?
Ridiculous....I refuse to believe we r so hard up for cash, that this was the best way to handle a potential star player from our youth system.
I would surely love to have all this explained to me. :dontkn:
Me too, I just don't get it. In the end, if Paloschi becomes a star, we will only pay more for him (see Boriello). What's the point? I'm sure Parma would grab him with open arms even on a loan.

I agree with the rest, why giving him the 50% in a club when he is so young, he had some great games and he has shown that he can become a usefull player. He is so young that you can't know if can become a great striker or a waste of time. What if in 2-3 years the boy become a great player? Parma will ask more than we had sold the 50% to her.

phew... ! long time no see.
What a GREAT transfer market, guys. We only need to bring 1 new GK and it'll be perfect.
Sadly, Paloschi must leave to Parma. Why should it be 50% deal? We'll end up paying him overrated just like Borriello. Good long-term deal for Parma. The amount of money from us for Palo next season will be enough to reuild their squad when they return to Serie A.
Selling half of Paoloschi is so stupid I can't describe it any other way. I've never called any move stupid in the 8 years I've visited this forum but this is a clear act of stupidity...
I can't see a positive side on it. Juve manages to loan out their players we sell half our talents. I don't get it...
I've just read that Vidic dislikes the city of Manchester (weather/people) and is thinking of trying other leagues. While i don't expect him to move this season or anytime soon, if he keeps up with this view Ferguson won't keep him long.
A Vidic-Nesta CB pairing would be ideal :guw:
Actually for normal young players like Pozzi, Marzoratti, Abate etc. or unproven players like Boriello, I agree with co-ownership as it will share the responsibility for both clubs, not only for Milan but also for the club that takes them. But for not certain player which are very talented like Paloschi. For the first case, both clubs (the loan club and loaned club) have advantage.
The loan club, Milan, share the responsibility to the loaned club in developing the players and the loaned club can get the players for cheap prices and can get much more money in the coming year(s) if they succeed to train the players to be (very) good players. In this case, it's still not clear if the players which are loaned can turn to be quality players like expected (there is major doubt here).
But in Paloschi case, it's different IMO. We now can see that Paloschi has huge talent and what he needs is only practices (games). The logic way to think is that it's not so difficult to make Paloschi very good striker. So, if Parma pays small amount of money (because Paloschi is still so young) and then Milan must pay much higher than Parma gave in the coming year(s), then Parma is the only one who will get the advantage here. This is of couse with an ideal assumtion : with Palo's talent, he should be a sharp striker in the coming years.
Parma are in Serie B and there are some Serie A clubs who were also interested in him but Milan decided to sell to Parma. I have thought why Milan sold the half of Paloschi's contract and I do think it's about guarantee. We know Parma are an experienced club in making unknown players to be very known players or young and unmature players to be great players like Mutu, Gila, Adriano, etc. Milan want to make it sure that Palo won't turn to be an average striker but to be a great striker like Italy had before.
I think, Milan only wanted to send Paloschi to 'the higher-ranked school for young players' even with expensive fee.
I can't believe it either, but on second thought, I just wonder if it's possible to add certain clauses in the deal, like how many games Parma garanteed to Palo, or a maximum fee for redeeming the half ownership. The transfer gurus won't do what you and me know is just clearly stupid, will they?
Agree. There is definately something in the deal. Milan won't do what they did with Boriello although what they did with him wasn't stupid or bad. He was in Milan and before that he was loaned out on a few occasions. He never reached the potential that was expected from him and on top of that he had the problem with the steroids. Milan found a bidder and sold half his contract to Genoa. Boriello had a great year and was obviously now worth a lot more to Genoa then what they paid for him so they hit our pocket with it. It wasn't a bad deal simply because Boriello was more or less I think not expected to turn out the way he did and Milan never had a plan to buy him back.......that is untill he scored 19 goals ofcourse.
Paloschi is different and there is definately some clause in the deal. The menagement isn't stupid. They have said on numerous occasions that they believe in Paloschi and they think he will become a great player. There is hundreds of different clauses that can be put in the deal. Example....there might be a set price for us to buy back the 50% from Parma.

Milan's youth sector remains at the summit of Italian football. The co-ownership deal with Parma for Alberto Paloschi is the umpteenth "young" operation of the Rossoneri's summer.
MILANELLO - The operations concerning the products of Milan's youth system generate a lot of attention to the work of this very important sector of the club and give revenues for the Club. The young players coming from the youth teams of the Rossoneri populate half the Serie A, such as Ignazio Abate, Davide Di Gennaro and Alberto Paloschi. These talents will always be followed with great attention.
During this summer the following things happened:
- striker Alessandro Matri was bought entirely by Cagliari
- the midfielder Paolo Sammarco was bought entirely by Sampdoria
- the defender Lino Marzoratti was bought entirely by Empoli
- the defender/midfielder Luca Antonini was brought back and inserted in Milan's First Team
- winger Luca Antonelli was transferred in a co-ownership deal to Parma
- midfielder Ignazio Abate was was brought back by Milan and then given to Torino in a co-ownership deal
- striker Nicola Pozzi was bought entirely by Empoli
- defender Elia Legati was transferred to Monaco in a loan deal with the right to a purchase
- striker Willy Aubameyang transferred on loan to Digione
- playmaker Davide Di Gennaro transferred in a co-ownership deal to Genoa
- defender Davide Astori transferred to Cagliari in a co-ownership deal
- striker Alberto Paloschi transferred to Parma in a co-ownership deal
Other co-ownerships were resolved as follows (in upper case letters the teams who have taken over the player definitively):
Marco Borriello (MILAN/Genoa), Ceccarelli (MILAN/Inter), Graffiedi (Milan/TRIESTINA), Kalu (Milan/SAMP), Toma (Milan/INTER), Varaldi (MILAN/Inter), Vitofrancesco (Milan-CREMONESE).

I was upset about Abate being co-owned, so you can imagine how I feel about the Paloschi news. This is utter MADNESS! Milan are being penny-wise, pound-foolish. There is virtually NO BENEFIT for co-ownership deals from the perspective of "big clubs".
Milan have changed GREATLY in the last 4 years or so. Instead of being the hobby of a multi billionaire, it is being managed like a public corporation with fiscal responsibilities. We are really cash strapped - that's the ONLY way you can interpret what has been taking place over the past 3 offseasons.
- Two summers ago, we sold Sheva for 45 million and hardly reinvested that money in the club. We all attributed that to the Calciopoli and the uncertainty of us making the CL that year.
- Last summer, we won 30+ million for the CL victory, but only spent 20 million on Pato, along with Emerson (and BA!) even though there were other glaring deficiencies on this team (which were obvious to everyone except the board).
- Now this past summer, we have seen the club make a ton of GREAT moves (I mean that - no sarcasm). But take a closer look. Prior to the Sheva & Senderos moves, we bought Borriello for 10 million. We bought Zambro for 9.5 million. We bought Dinho for 21 million. We bought Flamini for 0 million. Meanwhile, we sold Gila for 14 million, sold RO for 10 million, sold Grimi for 2.5 million. We sold Simic for undisclosed, but let's assume 3 million. So in essence, we improved our team greatly, but only through the spending of about $11 million!
You would think that more money would be available for players. YET, WHY WERE WE ONLY TARGETING A CB VIA A LOAN MOVE??? Ivanovic and Senderos were both the same type of deal where we would borrow for one year and then option buy next, but why was this so important for negotiations? Surely a billionaire like Berlu could splash out some more cash considering the team only spent about 11 million in transfers up to then, and thus increase our selection of players from teams who may not have been interested in letting us play with their toys for one year Plus give us an option to buy. But no, we needed to get a CB via loan ONLY.
Is Berlu being cheap? I'm not so sure because of the mysterious Sheva move. Personally, I think Berlu bought Sheva back behind closed doors with his own money and away from the eyes of the board and whatever auditor keep tabs on our books. And I bet he spent an exorbitant amount - like 15 million.
I can only say that something is going on that requires us to account for every penny and keep a balanced book and stay in the black. I recall an accounting scandal for both Milan and Inter that occurred in Feb/Mar of 2007 that suddenly went away. The conspiracist in me thinks that Milan got in serious legal trouble and now have eyes watching every deal they make. That's why we are being so cheap!
In any case, let's not mention Palo or Abate again, or I'll end up breaking another window....
- playmaker Davide Di Gennaro transferred in a co-ownership deal to Genoa
I actually thought we'd sold him outright. That's a little comforting, amidst all the irritation of seeing half of Paloschi's rights sold to Parma. Selling half of a big talent is bad enough, selling all of it is aggravating.
two months ago we were so sure (and me too to be honest) that our management doesn't know what they are doing, promising us plenty of top class signings but ending up with "the deal isn't gonna happen"
galliani proved his worth by bringing EVERYONE he promised to Milan and even some extras..
now we are doubting his competency in managing the young player contracts? do you honestly believe you know something they don't?
@ rosso-neri - if you will be breaking a window, upload the video on youtube and drop me a link
Taking the given that he is great how is it penny wise? If he does well in the coming season(s) the 'buy back' of his 50% is going to be higher and more expensive, kind of similar to Boriello. Maybe Giovanni can tell us if there are tax or other legal implications because in transfer fee dollars its unlikely to be saving us money.
Is Berlu being cheap?
For the past 4 years - yes. Sad but true. this mercato was great becouse it was SMART. But lets not complain, it was great. Milan does not spend like it used to, its obvious. Next year we will also need 3 or 4 young players, we'll see. But for now lets go for the scudetto!
Brocchi is on his way to Lazio, Oddo to Lion on loan deal.

Well, with the exception of Mazzarrotti, whom I think is better than Sandeous by far. I see no problem with Milan co ownershiping players with other clubs. I know the Borreillo deal did raised concerns but I am sure Milan learned that lesson and make sure it won't happens again.
Ofcourse, if by next year, Milan needs to pay 10M for Abate, 10M for Polashi, 10M of Di Gennaro, then I will be pretty piss at the board for not learning its lesson.
From goal.com
"Reports: Oddo Signs For Lyon
According to reports in France and Italy, Massimo Oddo has signed for French champions Lyon, and Milan will officially announce the transfer in the next few hours.
Right full-back Oddo has been heavily linked with an exit from Milan in the past week or so as he is currently well down the Rossonero pecking order, behind both Daniele Bonera and new signing Gianluca Zambrotta.
L’Equipe is just one of a host of publications, both in France and Italy, to claim that a deal has been struck which will see Oddo join Lyon on a one-year loan, with the option of making the move permanent next summer.
The 32-year-old, who will be a replacement for the injured Francois Clerc, will undergo a medical at the Stade Gerland any time now, while Milan are expected to officially announce the transfer within the next few hours.
Oddo had a miserable 2007/08 season with the Rossoneri. He was dreadfully poor in the first half of the campaign, before he had an upturn in fortunes at the beginning of 2008.
Things then went downhill again due to injury, and he barely played in the final six weeks of the season, thus missing out on a place in Italy’s Euro 2008 squad.
If confirmed, Oddo would be reunited with his World Cup 2006 team-mate Fabio Grosso, who plays on the opposite side of the defence for the seven-time consecutive French champions."
Two of our squad players (Brocchi & Oddo) look like they might be moving on. Now, as i've said before, surely that means they need replacing??
Take Oddo. Right now we have 3 players who can play RB, if Oddo goes that leaves us with 1 established RB (Zambrotta) and a CB who can fill in but not do a great job (Bonera). To me that's not enough for the whole season, especially if Zambrotta gets injured. Now i'm not saying we need to replace Oddo with some amazing player, but right now if Oddo leaves everything becomes very unbalanced.
Now lets look at Brocchi. He probably doesn't need to be replaced but i would still do so and there are lots of players around we could go for. Today alone we hear of Lucho Gonzalez possibly available on loan, Stephen Appiah (i would offer a 1 year contract and see what happens) available on a free transfer and Matteo Brighi available on loan. All 3 would be an upgrade on Brocchi and would also mean our need for Emerson is lowered.
We should trim the squad, but it needs to be done with balance otherwise we will need to bring in other player(s)

Paloschi has been payed 2,5 mil €., even if there is a person who heard Ghiradi, Parma president, saying "more than 2,5 mil." to a journalist.
Anyway, Milan bought Gila from Parma.
might it be the last instalment?
incredible good news, it seems Milan want no money for Brocchi.

I agree about the Oddo deal Jim, but not necessarily about the Brocchi deal. Should the Oddo deal go ahead, I'd think we have a plan to get in another option for RB.
As for Brocchi I think he's expendable, I see little value in keeping him at the club and feel we're still well covered should he leave.
So we finally got rid of Oddo...Very good news. I agree with Jim but don't we have a primavera player who can play if zambrotta gets injured??
I don't know so much about our young players, do we have some potentially good players there?
About Brocchi, I think we do not need a replacement because I'm still hoping we're gonna switch to 4-2-3-1 and having ambro, gattuso, pirlo, flamini, emerson and cardacio for two places looks more than ok.
Would prefer to hold on to Oddo! Don't understand why we didnt just loan Paloschi!

I agree, we should trim the squad in a BALANCED way. How does it make sense to loan out Oddo when we only have 2 full fledged RBs (the other being Zambro) while we have 3 LBs in Janku, Favalli and Antonini? Trimming the squad would mean getting rid of Favalli - not Oddo. And while I understand that Bonera should be included in our RB list, the fact that we have so many injuries at CB right now means that he is needed elsewhere.
Personally, I don't mind Oddo leaving as long as we get someone else, but I doubt that's going to happen. So we should keep him.
If we wanted to trim the squad without squandering depth, we should simply get rid of Brocchi (#1 on my list), Favalli and Dida (because of his high wages). I'm not sure how much Viudez is needed here either, so he can be loaned too (assuming we even do loans anymore). I would NOT loan out Darmian as i think he's pretty good and I don't trust our CBs health enough to trim our CB count down to 5.
Prior to today's news about Paloschi and now these rumors about Oddo, I was extremely happy with Milan's transfer activity. But of course they need to end it on a sour note...:dontkn:
Don't count your chickens before they hatch, guys.
We haven't got anything official on Oddo yet, so it might just be another rumour the mills conjured up to sell papers. I personally feel that Oddo is an adequate bench for Zambro, if need be, to fill in for a couple of games in the season. He had a poor year last term, but he isn't THAT bad (as I recall it, it was Janku that had trouble keeping wingers at bay the year we won CL7). We had an inexplicably crap season last year, it wasn't just him.
As for the Parma deal, I think the co-ownership thing is utilized somewhat for goodwill purposes between clubs, and somewhat used to ensure that the loan teams don't mess up our talents that badly.
In the Premier leagues, we're used to hearing of the top teams loaning out their players to lower divisions and stuff, but what would happen if the player broke their leg during the loan?
Well, the club loaning out the player could potentially lose a talent with nothing in return, whilst the club loaning him would just be wasting several weeks of pay, with no responsibility to help that player recover.
Having a co-ownership will help to ensure that the loaning team will protect this investment, because if all goes well, they would potentially have a small windfall from the deal.
Milan, I think, aren't setting up co-ownerships to lose money. In doing the deal, they:
1.) Get to assess the players development, with half the potential to let him go if they feel he's not up to par.
2.) Lighten their wage bills, though I think this point for a club like Milan is moot.
3.) Increase goodwill between clubs, making it that much easier to sign future potentials from said clubs.
4.) For players like Paloschi, I think the co-ownership deals can help to motivate the players into doing well, as they would feel more pressured to perform well to come back to Milan. Players who know they'll eventually be returning have the luxury of not performing that well, whilst players who don't will have that much more reason to show up at games (it also allows our scouts to better assess their mentality as well, be it sink or swim).

Brocchi is going to Lazio. :)
with Brocchi officially at Lazio, and Oddo going to O.Lyonnais, I hope we can get De Silvestri from Lazio.
It's a shame we sold Marzoratti as he would have been ideal for a season if Oddo were to leave.

ummm... you all HIGHLY over value paloschi. He's a squad player on italy U19. No offense compared to other teenage strikers... pato, balotelli, bojan, aguero... and others whowere teenage strikers... messi, rooney, he is MILES behind. Perhaps he can develop into a good player, but i dont think so for 5-6 years minimum. Serie A clubs wanted him? We dont know this for sure, it was clubs who wanted him as a backup striker too.. none had intention of starting him 30 games. PArma is a great spot for ihm, great at developing talent. I have serious doubts he'll ever be a good milan striker, he could no doubt. But when i look at italy. Future strikers are guiseppe rossi, balotelli, maybe lanzafame.
I'm just saying ur all overrating him, he couldnt score on serie C and 2nd teir teams in spain.
Also on coownership, its good beause now that parma owns him they have much bigger stake in wanting to play him. Loan deals r really only good if player wants to go there, or club has glaring weakness at position and r forced to play him.

Brocchi is going to Lazio,we are trimming fat again wich is good.Channel 4 is reporting that the Oddo move to Lyon is exaggerated because reports in France were saying that he was spotted in France but he was present today in Milan for training....But he could still move so we will just have to wait.If Oddo is leaving then i dont think we have to get a replacement because Bonera can also play there on the RB.Last year he did great there and allot of people(also on this forum)were saying that Zambrotta should play LB instead of Jankulovski and Bonera RB.So with Zambro and Bonera we are save.If we are having a serious injury crisis then Albertazzi could play a game or two.

Wow we got rid of Oddo and Brochi.
Hey does anyone remember my words when we signed Oddo.I was right after 2 years the player is not anymore rossoneri. We bought him 7.5+ a player just for 2 years! Bad transfer, with the 7.5m and + 3-4m we could had sign Rafinha from Schalke who is only 19!Or Ilshinho! What a waste of money. :stupid: To be continued with Zambrotta.
I hope in next days we can sign a good and usefull player.

so if oddo leaves we have.....
rb: zambrotta, bonera
CB: Nesta, Senderos, Maldini, Kaladze, Bonera, Darmian, Favalli
LB: Janku, Favalli, Kaladze, Antonini
i dunno if iagree letting oddo go. He is good defensivel. And janku is injury prone so we might have to switch zambro over to LB.
We could play ambro or gattuso at RB if needed though.

yup mian transfer polic in nutshel... 20 mil for dinho who will prolly give us 2 good years, and then decline after 2010 world cup. Or we coulda signed more promising players who have 7-8 great years ahead.

Paloschi is not overrated. The matches he played for us last year, were without any pressure for him, he did very well. Now, since he was our only available striker, pressure got higher and he drowned a bit. That's why we also sent him to Parma.
Some say his goals last term were lucky? Perhaps, but he was always in the right position, as a matter of fact, his positioning is more than excellent for an 18-year-old.
You cannot compare him with players like Aguero or Pato.
He is a completely different striker, more of a poacher, like Inzaghi.
If there is a youth player you can compare him with its Acquafresca.
And I believe he is already on the same level as Robert when it comes down to positioning. Acqua is the better player, technically and with more confidence. But he is also 3 years older. I'm sure Paloschi will become a good striker for Milan. For his age his play is sometimes so smart.. stunning.
Brocchi seems to be set for Lazio, don't know why but I always liked that guy. :haha: Oh well, would rather see Emerson leave tbh.
But its a good thing, this way Cardacio will get some playing time.
I don't think we will let Oddo go, unless we have already secured a new RB. Which I seriously doubt..

He's very average.... and whats w this compairson to pippo? Pippo is 1 of a kind. No real skill, no size, no real speed, yet he scores. That is RARE. He has something, instinct. Paloschi >>Bojan, Aguero, GDS, Balotelli and everyone else not wearing a Milan jerey...and Lanzafame is a winger :o
Yes I agree 100% it was a woefully myopic move especially considering that his pace is decreasing at the same rate his errors are increasing...and unlike when we got Cafu he has no real pace to go crazy about. I would start ranting about why we didn't get Alves but I've done enough of that :5horse:

I hope in next days we can sign a good and usefull player.
That guy De Silvestry can play as a RB and as DC? Does he?
Rafinha is getting 23 in September. ;)
For his age his play is sometimes so smart.. stunning.
I can't disagree with you more. What I wanted to say, you have written it. You even wrote it more comprehensively.
Paloschi is not wonder kid but he has huge talent to be a good striker.
---------------------------
About righ fullback situation if Oddo leaves I think it's not very importan for Milan to buy the replacement as Bonera can play RB as sub for Zambrotta. While he plays RB, Favalli still can play DC in emergency. Favalli did pretty well there in the pre-season. In addition there is still Darmian who can play DC and RB. In the junior national team, he has played there if I am not mistaken.
So in my opinion, in defence sector one player still should go, either Favalli or Oddo in order to make our squad smaller.

[QUOTE=Siregar;507149]I can't disagree with you more. All what I wanted to say, you have written it in much better way.
Paloschi is not wonder kid but he has huge talent to be a good striker[QUOTE]
he is the same inzaghi type of player
There ios only one man whos "stile" is as same as Pippo's - Gerd Muller!
Paloschi is a good young player that is worth what he is getting, a chance in serie B with Parma. Noone can became Pippo Inzaghi, he is probably the smartest forward in football history.
please! skill is skilled, and he's not VERY good. He scored 2 lucky lucky goals. Anyone who really believes paloschi is the future is blinded by milan goggles. He's very average.... and whats w this compairson to pippo? Pippo is 1 of a kind. No real skill, no size, no real speed, yet he scores. That is RARE. He has something, instinct. But he's a rarity not a 'type'.
No he is not average, an average player would have never made the first team in the first place..
Have you ever played football on somewhat of a professional level? Maybe than you will understand me.
Like you say a comparison, I'm not saying he IS Inzaghi.
If you read my post carefuly you will notice I am referring to his positioning / poaching that is very similar to Inzaghi's(same goes for Acquafresca). Which I find very unique and promising.
You don't judge a player on his goals, at least not a young player.
You watch his movement, his running, ...
And if you do so, please don't watch youtube highlights but full matches.
I can't disagree with you more. What I wanted to say, you have written it. You even wrote it more comprehensively.

last news from Mediaset.
Oddo: he has chosen Bayern Munchen instead of Lyon.
He signed and his wage is about 3,5 mil. €. per year
Nothing about how much Bayern would have paid

I only wanted to say : I agree with you and what I wanted to say, you have written it and you've done more comprehensively than I wanted to say (about Paloschi).
The last sentence about Paloschi (saying Paloschi is not wonder kid but has huge potential) is only stress what you said that he is not like other young players like Pato, Messi, Borjan etc.
Well, I'm not too sad about Brocchi leaving, but I liked Oddo (and his hair) though recent performances encourage a transfer. I just hope that we have some replacements lined up!
I'm not too sure about the 'temporary acquisition of the sporting performances of the player Philippe Senderos' - when I've seen him paly he always seems a bit of a liability (and gormless).
I'm happy to see Menez playing in Italy, but i really don't like seeing him playing for Roma.I just hope he is not going to be the next special player that i think he will be.
eh ?
why's oddo out ? is it official ?
besides his awful crosses... i found that his an ok defender... look how we welcomed him 2 years ago when we only got Cafu (who's past his best).
so....
lb : Zambrotta, Bonera.
rb : Janku, Antonini, Favalli
things r moving quickly this week..
Paloschi compares to the dribbler-strikers? Let's say Sheva is more valuable before 28, Pippo seemed just start at that age. I really hope Kaka can turn to another Boban at 30, and I see no future of C. Ronaldo at 30.
I think this is great news. We have good cover, even though Oddo staying might have been a good thing. Anyhow, it seems that it's already done.
So in defence right now we have
RB:Zambrotta,Bonera,Darmian
LB:Jankulovski,Antonini,Favalli
CB:Nesta,Kaladze,Maldini,Senderos
We also have versatility as Bonera and Darmian can also play as CBs; Zambrotta, Maldini and Kaladze can also play as LBs.
I read a lot of comments about getting a replacement for Oddo, but looking at what we already have it's not a must.
Also, Brocchi seems to be gone as well and that is one of the greatest news this summer:clap:. I don't think there is any need to replace him expecially if Emerson stays healthy. We have Pirlo, Gattuso, Ambrosini, Flamini, Emerson and Cardaccio. That is enough players and enough quality I think. In case of a HUGE emergency (meaning that at least 2 are injured then we can always call up players like Strasser and Osuji to act as back ups. Seedorf can also be dropped deeper for a game or two if needed. Cardaccio I think will be a very good surprize for us this season.
So far good mercato in my eyes. We have quality on the bench again which was something that we were missing for a few years now. The possibility of players like Shevchenko, Seedorf, Pato, Flamini (just as an example, doesn't mean that these have to be the subs)comming in from the bench is great.
I totally agree with Siregar on this...loan him out by all means...but co-ownership? Why?
What are the advantages for us in a co-ownership deal vis a vis a straight loan?
The advantage is that he gets to play. A loaned player is not the same asset to a loaning team.
please! skill is skilled, and he's not VERY good. He scored 2 lucky lucky goals. Anyone who really believes paloschi is the future is blinded by milan goggles. He got real skill and great instincts. People are to blinded by flash sometimes.
The advantage is that he gets to play. A loaned player is not the same asset to a loaning team.
I don't agree. There are numerous of clauses where the loaning team can use the player for free if he plays X games (unless his out with an injury).
If we want to reduce our wages we could just ask to the smaller team to pay a part of or total salary.
I also read here somewere that the loaning team wouldn't care for the player when he is injured or something, to be honest that's not true either if one of our loaned players is seriously injured there is a big chance he will come back to milan where they can recover with our doctors.
You want an example, We loan out Digao while we know he needs massive surgery why?
Standard dind't buy half of his contract, they don't own him but he won't be able to play for 6 months?
So this is a very bad deal since Standard will not take care of him according to some of you, since Standard didn't paid anything to loan him. Especially since the player was allready injured when he got here and surgery was allready needed. But why loaning him out then?
To answer that we go try and figure out where all our players go for massive surgery? Indeed Belgium (doctor Martens) only Ronaldo and Kaka this summer went to Brazil without a good result...
Maybe other Italian teams can't be trusted?
Besides if a loaning team get the luck of getting a talented player for free I don't see why they wouldn't benefit from it.From this point of view we should be rewarded to give Senderos a chance yet we paid 4 million to loan him.
Another reason pro coowning I've read is that players are more motivated, that's not true either. Do some of you really think that if Paloschi would't try his best to succeed at parma if it was a loan deal just because he knows that he will go back to Milan anyway? If he fails at parma he'll fail at milan to, if he doesn't score a goal for parma and plays miserable he won't get a chance with milan next year aswell but suppose he wins the capocanonniere in the seri B and plays incredible then milan will take him back and might give him a true chance. If that doesn't motivate a player than nothing will I guess.
So all of you thiung that Galliani does not understand that if he co-owns a player he needs to pay and if he loand a player he can get him back for free? Yes, thing is the first time Galliani is loaning a player in his 20 years in Milan and he doesnt know why exactly he is doing that. THERE IS A REASON why Milan is co-woning players, and not loaning them. That reason we dont know, it way be due to some inside under the table deals, it may be something else. We dont know it, but here ARE resons that are objective and reasonably and that is why Milan is doing that. they are not idiots.
More, Parma president said he payed "more then 2.5 mln for co-owning Paloschi". Juventus co-owned players like Chiellini, Blasi, Miccoli with Fiorentina ( which is a small club ) and they took all those players almost for nothing. those deals are made ahead, the price is already arranged in case he moves back, in case he stays - its all done. Trust me, its all done already.
I don't agree. There are numerous of clauses where the loaning team can use the player for free if he plays X games (unless his out with an injury).
Look. Facts point towards teams only loaning players not playing them. There are lots of examples. They only get to play if they are considerably better than their compatriots. Even Giovinco had problems starting in Empoli because he was only out on a loan.
The other normal solution for a loaned player to get playing time is to have a option clause, but we hardly want them to have that in this case.

Juve got back those players in the blind auction. My belief is that they got them really cheap because of a agreement with Moggi. Just check around about calciopoli and how Fiorentina was apart of it as getting help from Moggi and his system. Anyway, those players you mentioned again showed how co-owned players get to play.
Official: Oddo signs for Bayern (http://www.goal.com/en/articolo.aspx?contenutoid=838204)
Bayern Munich have announced the signing of Milan full back Massimo Oddo on a one-year loan deal, with the option of making the move permanent next summer.
Bayern have only announced (http://www.fcbayern.t-com.de/de/aktuell/news/2008/16830.php) it on their German site though.

Nothing official, yet. :D
------
Oddo deal seems official as he has already been replaced by Senderos in our list of defenders on ACmilan.com
Strange to let Oddo go on loan. There is no reason to loan out a player that is already in his 30' ies. Unless he wanted to leave himself, which I doubt. And if he really did want to leave we would have sold him, because now there is still a chance of him coming back. That's what I don't understand, we make no money by loaning him and we will probably get him back next year. That means we just "gave away" a much needed right back.
I have a feeling we are going to get a new RB, no idea who though.
(But Zapata can play RB too ;))
And we have to end the mercato with a purchase.. :guw:

Football Italia were also saying it yesterday and at the midfield we have to many players,Cardaccio will be staying with the first team so Emerson or Brocchi have to go...I think the deal will be official today or at least tomorrow.:5ok:
I don't know why didn't we just sell him? They rate Oddo pretty high.

I don't think it's a free deal in most cases the loaning club pays some sort of rent. Just as we are paying to loan senderos.
Selling Oddo is not the best option, but this shows that Milan do want to develop players like Antonelli... (forgive me if I spell it wrong).

Even though you mean Antonini, he's a LB and as Oddo is a RB, Antonini's situation isn't helped by Oddo's departure at all.
I also don't see why so many people are happy to have CBs playing in full-back positions. Bonera is ok at RB but nothing more than that, while the rest of the CBs are shocking full-back positions. By all means do it when there's absolutely no other alternative, but in all other circumstances they should stay in the middle.
No matter what happens this season, the defence will still need 3 new faces (lb, rb, cb) & a new GK next season ... and i mean signings for the first team, not little squad players who offer nothing.
so who are the three playing at RB? Zambrotta, Bonera, and ?

It used to be three with ODDo there, but not anymore...we have left Zambro and Bonera whom I dont fancy at Rb position...however Antonini played as a Rb with sporting gijon....so who knows

Darmian can play as RB according to Carlo... he should have played there in the Napoli vs Juve vs Milan...
and also, in emergency Janku, Antonnini and Favalli can play as RB :5ok:
but i dont think we'll lose Bonera and Zambrotta at same time ;)

I dont think we will be signing any other players, we've done more than enough this market. They wanted to sign 6-7 players, they signed 11. A perfect mercato in my eyes, the only slight disappointments is Senderos when we could have gotten a better CB, and Boriello's unnecessary purchase. What happened to all the cutting down the squad but increasing the quality talk?
If I was incharge of the Milan board right now I would:
- Sell Boriello
- Try to get rid of Dida, if he makes it impossible to sell him then sell Kalac.
- Sell Brocchi
- Sell Favalli or just release him
- Get a world-class CB (Zapata, Cannavaro)..or even players like Ivanovic and Canini would do just fine
- Keep Cardacio and Viudez training with the team for a year

What's your point exactly?
-Sell Boriello? We just bought him, selling him now that would be stupid it's not going to happen.
-They tried to sell dida but those who want him can't afford him, those who can afford him don't want him. Why would we want to sell Kalac? We need 3 keepers I don't think anybody want want to buy him and we would have to buy another keeper. It's not going to happen
-Sell Brocchi? He is on his way to lazio...
-Favalli's contract expired this summer the board gave him a new contract. Selling him (to who??) or releasing him is not going to happen. I wouldn't have given him a new contract either but we can't tear it up after it was signed a few months ago. (Allthough I don't know what's more stupid tearing that contract or the fact we actually gave him a new one ;))
-We tried to get ivanovic, we failed. Cannavaro? Why would we want to buy another 35 year old defender? Zapata would be great I agree but we got Senderos so it's not going to happen...
-Cardaccio and Viudez? I don't know it seems that they will get a chance but this could change rapidly.
I don't see how or who could leave after Brocchi (as far as I know still not official) except maybe for Cardacio and Viudez on loan.

what exactly have zapata or canini proven compared to senderos?
Well, you have to remember, mate. When ever Carlo focused on certain competition, he would get very good result just like he did when Milan won Scudetto (who actually Roma 'should' have won it with respect to the point Roma got) and of course THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE (I don't need to describe this as this is very clear).
I am absolutely sure that we will focus on Serie A, making UEFA Cup just as second choice. We now have squad depth that we didn't have recent years. This could boost our regular players' performances (from last season), players like Pirlo, Gattuso, Seedorf even Kaka because there will be much more pressure on them by knowing that we have Flamini and Cardacio (even Emerson) who will give pressure for Pirlo and Gattuso), R80 who will fight Seedorf and/or Kaka for the starting line-up.
This season we will also have better crosses for our strikers from Zambrotta and our new midfielders, Flamini and Cardacio who both have decent crosses. In addition Pirlo could move forwards and deliver more assists (either crosses, through ball or long ball) to our striker(s) as Flamini can easily cover and take Pirlo's position and task in front of our CDs.
So, I am still pretty sure that we will give a very tough fight for other Scudetto's contenders.

This way, we have 3 defenders at the back at all times...with the DM covering the run of the attacking Rt or Lt back.
No argument about the choice of aquisitions for next term though! :D

Well i agree our mercato is good, we got rid of overheads, we still have emerson and dida, other than that we are all packed. From a personal point of view i like sendros he is very solid, i agree he has deadly errors but his playing style doesnot fit the EPL, this guy cant play tennis. he is good player i believe we need to judge him when he plays for us not before playing.
for the attacking issue, i believe we gave too much emotions to sheva after all he is gonna our first choice striker, i hate that. we dont wanna kill pato for the sake of sheva. Pato and borriello are our strikers really, not sheva nor pippo. we need their presence and experience when we need them not to build our strike force on them.
and for zapata i dont know guys why do you put so much hope on him, he never impressed me, i take mexes over him anytime, and i really wanna see the combination nesta-bonera.

And that's enough to write him off so badly that we are in such a desperate feeling to get rid of him, preferring rather the never-world-class Kalac?
That we can forgive Pippo for diving but not Dida faking injury?
That we cannot expect to forgive his mistakes but expected to forget about him being thrown missiles on the field?
That we cannot stand him making stupid mistakes, as if GK from the rest of the world will not, but expect to forget his saves during Champion Leagues against Juventus?
************
That the key here again is the whether Dida deserves to be defended. No, he made some howlers and we all know that.
But I see a problem, a disease really, spreading through some of the Milan fans, here and over the world: That if Milan didn't do well (e.g., out of champion leagues, not winning CL, not winning SCudetto, not beating Sampdoria, Reggina...), then it's the fault of these few individuals; ironically, this indicates that they have the ability to influence how Milan performed in a season, which we know it's not true.
But when Milan failed, some fans begin to pinpoint a few individuals, to find a scapegoat: Gila, Favalli, Brocchi, and Dida. While some arguments are valid and to-the-point, many are redundent, over-the-board, insensitive, and insensible.
The attitude, not the fact, becomes grossly disgusting.

Keep it up Milan.

Antonini isn't a LB really. He can play at both sides as easily. He began as a winger, mainly on the right side and with that I would say it is more natural for him to play there. Even if he played more on the left side of defense.
Just why people hate/dislike dida is way beyond me. Its like he did cost us a trophy, a scudetto, or a CL cup.

And about Emerson, he is useless for Milan .....Silvio just will have to pay his huge wage bill for keeping the locker room warm (I really hope we sell him within the next 3 days)
Maybe we could use Favalli for another season....coz he looked OK in the pre-season games...

then it's the fault of these few individuals; ironically, this indicates that they have the ability to influence how Milan performed in a season, which we know it's not true.
I don't completely agree with that. I agree with you that some fans make scapegoats out of individual players, but these players do influence the team's performance through the season.
In Dida's case, a number of mistakes in the past couple of years have cost us dearly. Two of the most famous episodes are Inter (when he let in the shot straight at him) and Celtic (the dive). These are individual games, but these mistakes aren't infrequent with him these days and more importantly they cost us important results. Putting the Celtic game aside, his mistake in the Inter match effectively cost us the match (which we weren't looking like we'd lose). Many looked at that match as the match that could reignite a poor start to the season, and the loss proved to put an even more pressure on the side.
Likewise, it occurs on the flipside too. Kaka's incredible form in CL 2006/07 influenced our season greatly, as did Ronaldo that year. Likwise, a number of Juve fans (and non-Juve fans) have attributed a lot of their successes last season on Buffon, who was superb.
In the end, football is a team game, and these players cannot have these influences without the others. Kaka was excellent in 07 but without Seedorf, Pirlo, Nesta etc all finding great form we wouldn't have won the CL. Juve last season had Buffon, but without the goals of Del Piero and Trez they wouldn't have reached 3rd. Dida's cost us and it has influenced our season (he as an individual has done this), but he alone is not to blame, as there were numerous other problems with us.
Antonini isn't a LB really. He can play at both sides as easily. He began as a winger, mainly on the right side and with that I would say it is more natural for him to play there. Even if he played more on the left side of defense.
Very true, he's been playing RB some of the time in preseason and did quite well.

2.2 mil pounds for Brocchi???? Thats almost 4 mil Euro just from the top of my head. That's acutally not that bad at all.
Wow! Almost 4 milion euros for Brochi, i can't believe Lazio gave us so much money for him!Wow!
If i was Lazio's president i wouldn't give more than 1.5M.
The next WOW is that Milan gave Oddo for loan! Why, to gain experience because he is young? And then he will join us again when he will be 33, to do what? Wow!
And i can't believe that Bayern sign him on loan and they accepted to pay him 3.5M for contract! WoW!
it's much more a rumour than a news, anyways Mediaset Premium is the source: Marzoratti could be useful, so AC Milan is thinking :p286: to take him back, or, more difficult, Perticone (other defender from Milan youngster team) now at Livorno.
I don't thik it's necessary to bring Marzoratti back as we have sold him. I prefer to use Antonini because he is another type of fullback compare to Marzoratti by having better offensive ability and experience.
Bayern gives a wage around 3,5 mil. €. to Oddo :dconf: aren't they out of head?
I do think, Bayer München rate Oddo very high. From what I read on their website about Oddo, they seem very delighted.
Bayern's chairman, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, was even very happy as the deal is finished (source (http://www.fcbayern.t-com.de/en/news/news/2008/16836.php)).
This is acceptable as they faced Milan couple of times and especially when Milan gave very tough match in München when Oddo played there superbly.

Just why people hate/dislike dida is way beyond me. Its like he did cost us a trophy, a scudetto, or a CL cup.
For God's sake, it's Kalac who didn't save the goal last year.
I totaly agree with you Jeff, Kalac was thet guy who lay down when someone shoots at our goal, and Kalac was on the goal when Cesc made a shoot from 40m so slowly that my sister would catch it.
So please dont blame Dida.

About Arsenal's goal, your sister would catch it, I have no doubt. But your sister will be sent off by the the guard before she enters the stadium. :)
The goal of Kalac is debatable. In my opinion, I won't give 100% for Kalac's mistake, it's more Fabregas shot than Kalac mistake. I just watched the replay again and I am still sure with my opinion.
I just can't think why people include Kalac when talking about Dida? Kalac was brought to be Milan number two, so don't expect him to be world class GK! Never! He was not young when Milan brought him, there is no way he could turn to be a WC GK. And he is paid for GK number two. Not a salary for world class player! Be objective guys.

Interesting, I didn't know that. Thanks for the info. I am unfamiliar with Antonini, so it's good to hear that he can play RB too. I think he even played RB during the Birra Morati game. Is that true? If so, then I guess Oddo leaving is not that bad thing.

Exactly! What if we had no Kaka - would we be as good as we are? No. It's his unique star quality that helps our team win. So, while it is a team game, it is certainly affected by the actions of the individual. In Dida's case, his poor play COST us points IMO.
But for me personally, my dislike of him took off after that unforgivable Celtic game. I had to hear so much crap from non Milan and non Serie A fans about his stupidity.

But why was Kalac put in that position in the first place??? Because Dida sucked!
Jeff must be kidding guys, he can't be serious :)
J
Great Post I agree 100% even if sometimes I am also a culprit in that regard (especially to my overzealous anti-Gila sentiment) I hope that I and the rest of us can improve in not singling out certain players for our anger. I think with some of us the players we dislike tug at our pet peeves. For instance the sticklers for consistency and professionalism will hate R99 and Dida. Those that look down on lack of effort will dislike R99, Ronaldinho. Those very high on morals will dislike $heva and possibly Gila. The users who have no tolerance for the less skillful players would hate Brocchi, Gila Boriello etc etc.....we all have to grow up and accept that our diversities make the world what it is.
One small point though....you can't get THAT upset that some fans dislike a person or a management policy. These actions are also out of love for Milan. So if someone hates Gila/Dida/Brocchi/R99 etc I tend to think they have the team's interest at heart.

And you are right; but like you said there are many more games that Milan should not have lost but lost and not because of Dida (Kaladze, Bonera, Gattuso, etc.).
Why not Gattuso? Had he covered our midfield better last year, had he had that burn of desire which we didn't see last year, Milan might have been in Champion League.
Many times we can single out one person to be responsible for the loss, and rightly so. But making some of the worst comments about Dida as if he is solely responsible for the downfall of Milan last season is laughable, on one hand, and painful to see, on the other.
The goal of Kalac is debatable. In my opinion, I won't give 100% for Kalac's mistake, it's more Fabregas shot than Kalac mistake. I just watched the replay again and I am still sure with my opinion.

Just imagine, for a second, that it's not Kalac but Dida was in goal and Fabregas scored.

And that's exactly where the situation has turned disgusting in how we treat some of our players.
Exactly! What if we had no Kaka - would we be as good as we are? No. It's his unique star quality that helps our team win. So, while it is a team game, it is certainly affected by the actions of the individual. In Dida's case, his poor play COST us points IMO.

Regarding "what if we had no Kaka`": Read carefully what Dev said: Without the other individuals I very doubt how Kaka` can become a star. Just see Sheva as an example. Don't forget that Kaka as a star is not just born but also made.
Another example will be Pirlo: We see how he is 'made' in LIppi's Italian team (with full adequate cover for him) but is made to suffer at Milan when Ambro and Gattuso failed to protect him.
And didn't that cost us point as well?
Just because the goal went past the GK didn't mean that GK is solely responsible for it.

I feel sorry for you being riduculed by your friends, but this just shows you again how high profile Milan is that your friend will actually make fun of. No one will probably do it with Cesc because Cheslsea is just in no way on par with Milan's status.

I do not disagree, but there are many ways one can express his/her love. Certainly we have read news about how a guy loves the other gal that he kills her and then himself? I don't think that will be something morally acceptable, just like I think it is unfair to criticize and hate any single players for a team's downfall.
But of course, if that makes all of us feel better....
The discussion is pointless becouse every player depends on other players in a TEAM game such as football.
Noone in Milan created Kaka', Kaka' was the best player of Brazilian league and Milan bought him through Leonado connections.
No coach in the world can make you a great player. They can improve you, learn you something and that is it. You have greatness in you or you dont. In Film " Milano derby, il film", a man said: " some players are champions, others are just good players. The champions feel like home when they enter full San Siro, others feel unbalanced." That is - Kaka' vs Gila. That is Sheva vs Oliveira and so on...
One more quote to show what I mean. Pippo' Inzaghi's coach from earlist days: " I only showed him few things about movement at the beggining, the rest of the moves he does I dont understand as well...he has it in hismelf..." I saw it on tv.
I hope you understand. Pirlo's passing cant be taught, tackling Ronaldo Luis Nazario De Lima like Maldini did cant be taught by GOD himself if he was a coach of Milan. You a a champšion or you are not one. Sound scruel but who doesnt like it is just afraid to admit it.

I wonder why noone took the #2 jersey. Are they really saving it in case Oddo returns next summer? I thought Senderos might take it, but his is #24. Are the new defenders afraid of the weight of expections that naturally befalls the heir of Oddo? :p1510:
Or perhaps Milan have retired #2 in honour of Oddo? :hmmm:
I think, it's because we have no pure RB who doesn't have favorite number. Number two is a clasic number for right fullback. Zambro should have it but maybe his favorite number is 15? I don't know exactly.
Did Oddo have number 2? I think, Cafu had it before.

cmon 1) emerson is well respected among brazilian contingent in our locker room
2) he was world class, he had injury problems, but even year before in real madrid he was effective. Unlike brocchi who was never anywhere near world class emerson has it in him
3) he's our 6th CM. (7 if u count seedorf). I can deal with that. Besides his contract is up at end of season. Let him play coppa italia and when we have inuruy crisis. I just hope cardaccio sees more field than him, as i'd rather he develop.
4) who is going to buy him? He was hurt all lasty ear.
if it was up to me i woulda kept emerson over brocchi too. Although i ont have faith in either, emerson atleast had the ability to be world class
Last year Emerson had injury and never had his top full fitness. I think, we can expect more from Emerson this year. He played well in the last game of Milan in pre-season. And I still hope he can give similar performance like he did against Gijon in Serie A games this season.
I don't get it why we should sell Emerson? We have 6 players for 3 positions and I think it's best number a club should have.

I have not made my argument clear. I am not saying that all of our problems last year are Dida's to blame. That would be ridiculous. But, all I'm saying is that Dida DID cost us points with his bad play, and I believe our correspondence in this regards involved you saying "For God's sake, it's Kalac who didn't save the goal last year." Sounds like YOU were pointing someone out!
I can totally understand the sentiment you feel about ungrateful fans. Many posters here are unreasonable IMO. But, Dida Sucked(!) last year, after making 4 million (quoted from Goal.com - so take it as you will.) You are trying to bypass Dida's problems by blaming the whole team (rightfully so) and Kalac specifically for his mistakes when he was a starter. The problem with your thinking is that Kalac was SUPPOSED to be a backup. He's obviously inferior to Dida, that's why he's not making 4 million! So you have to give a pass to Kalac for his poor play because he's being paid to step in only in the unlikely event that our (well paid) starting GK got hurt.
Our team sucked because they simply sucked. Dida was a big part of it. So was Kalac, so was Gattuso, so was Pirlo. Yet nothing you can say will change my view of an absolutely disgracefully OVERPAID Dida and his performance last year (again that Celtic game)......
Glad that we come to a consensus on this matter, Russo. I think we are on the same page.
Regarding overpaid Dida: I don't know if Milan's philosophy is about pay-per-performance, but that's another matter and i don't think we should start here then...
Come to think of it, I think the co-ownership deal does make sense. If it was strictly a loan, the other party has no interest in giving the player a chance, developing him, and making him play well, because at the end of the loan period, the player returns anyways---so if his form drops, they just bench him.
On the other hand, if it's a co-ownership, the other team has an interest in developing the player because if the player turns out to be a success (like Boriello last year), they will be financially rewarded as the bigger club would buy the player back. So it's like an investment, so to speak...
You can view this as, "Milan pay $2M to Parma to train Paloschi" except, of course, Milan paid Genoa for $9M for that...
this must be the best milan's squad since a long time even though they are a bit ageing. i hope they can win everything this season! cant believe sheva is back, and senderos's capture is a nice surprise too! we have 27 very good players! we have too many attackers but thats fine just in case of injury.
Key is to get the energy going.

Man, Kalac is NO better than Dida. But we should get rid both of them.
And yes, Kalac let that goal at CL, but why? Because he replaced Dida, because Dida played sooooooooooooooooooooo badly so our coach felt the need to change someone like Dida with a super-duper-inferior Kalac. So, who's to blame?
If a first-team player played so badly that he should be replaced by a far below-average backup player and this backup played badly too, who's to blame?
It's Dida's; he should regain his form even though I ultimately doubt that he could but I also hope he could.
It's Kalac's; he directly was responsible for the goals, he's a backup but he can't do his task as a backup: played well when the first-team player is unable to play.
It's management's: why they don't get any better GKs?
It's everyone's fault, so stop blaming some individuals only. Even I consider myself somewhat guilty because I'm not a good GK; if I were a world-class GK I'll sign for Milan and do much better than those two :1d31:
And I don't understand why people aren't happy with Senderos. He's a starting player for Arsenal within several seasons, still quite young, better and more proven than Ivanovic, had great matches with Switzerland NT, etc. What are you hoping from mgt now? If you want Zapata, Vidic or etc, let's collect moneys from MM members and give it to poor old Berlu. Maybe from about 1000 MM members, one could give 10000 euros and collect 10M euros so we could buy one decent player we want, and I'll call that a real contribution for our beloved club.
What? Kalac at the moment is our second or third string goalie and for that sort of a role, he's fine. No one said he was starting material. Only problem was Dida was so bad last year that we had to bench him, and Kalac was the only other option we had. BTW, Kalac played excellently when called upon. He made some crucial saves and was far more solid than Dida.
It's easy to blame him for this and for that, esp the Arsenal goal, but shouldn't our midfielders and defenders also be to blame for allowing Fabregas so much time to attempt a shot? Dida may have fumbled a cross and given Arsenal the lead early in the game, I mean who knows. But to blame Kalac for our problems is not fair---IMO, he did his job very well, stepped in for Dida and remained solid for the rest of the season. This season I think it's only fair that he competes directly with the other 2 for the starting job, and from the looks of it, Abbiati is our man.
It's everyone's fault, so stop blaming some individuals only.

No one is blaming Kalac for our problems last season; that's a bit of an exaggeration. He was solid until the Arsenal loss, after which he regressed back to his normal self.
Anyway, the point Jeff was trying to make is in regards to the double standard regarding the fans' reaction to Fabregas' goal. It was almost like, "Darn, Kalac just knocked us out of the CL. Bummer." Had Dida let it in, he'd have been drawn and quartered in an instant, and everyone knows it.

maybe that could give some people some faith in this team! we have a GREAT team, I dont understand why people are all complaining.
I hate to break it to you, bro, but a video game and reality are a wee bit different from each other.

haha I know I know but still ITS SHEVCHENKO! :P
It means, you are not the fans that Sheva will try to win their heart as he 'already' did in that game. :D
darn... I am still waiting for the next transfer window to open to synchronise my FIFA 08 squad with our current milan squad :)

Guys....last night when I did all the transfers on winning eleven, I plyed this formation:
-------------------- DIDA ------------------
ZAMBRO - NESTA ---- MALDINI -- JANKU
SEEDORF --------- PIRLO -------- SERGINHO
------------------- KAKA ------------------
--------- SHEVA --------------- DINHO ---
and all I have to say is - WOOOOOOOOOW!!! Sheva was scoring a hat-trick a game and I was destroying every one!!

and for those comparing Dida to Kalac, well sorry to inform that NEITHER of them is going to start any time soon, so drop it already
Serginho has left, mate. I played Pirlo instead, and Gattuso in Pirlo's position. Try it.

Maybe that's because of Dida's howlers time after time the past few years. Ever since the flare incident, he has been horrible and that's possibly an understatement.
Also, I don't remember Kalac getting tapped on the shoulder and then falling to the ground like he'd been shot and rolling around on the ground. No wait, that was Dida.
I don't remember Kalac getting injured while RIDING THE PINE. Oh, that was Dida too.

Since your back going out is an injury that can happen to the average Joe at any time, I think this reflects on the rancor of the fans more than anything. Had it happened to anyone else on the squad, it'd have been no big deal.
Nice. There's always the small-minded nonsensical comment when you've run out of ammunition.

Look, I understand you're a fanboy of the guy. I'm not. I've never liked how he's played, even when he wasn't considered the scapegoat of the team. All keepers make mistakes, Dida just seemed to make more.
Long story short, I just have a big problem with his positioning (or lack thereof) on shots and that's key for a keeper.
PS. I'm not out of ammunition. I could keep going on Dida for a long while, but what's the point? As long as he's riding the pine (and hopefully not getting injured again while doing it) I'm relatively happy. I'd be happy if we could just get rid of him and his huge salary and sign a quality keeper.
Tardissun, I would like to remind you that your lats sentence in that particular post is not acceptable here at MM.
I also disagree with you that someone is being a fanboy of a player. It might be true, but you do not have to say it in public. I am sure we all know that the team comes first than any individual player.
I don't know where you get the problem with positioning from, and in fact I don't think positioning has been his problem. It's more on whether he should come out to get the ball aerially or not.
You could keep going on Dida for a long while, just like any other fans can keep on going against their goalkeepers for a while, except maybe Buffon.
If it's because of the salary that you are complaining, then I think it's fully justified. But other than that, I still am not convinced completely that it's largely the fans who made Dida sit on the bench, pretty much the fans who wanted Gilardino to exit Milan.
Alright guys, nothing more we can do now. Season has started, let's all support the players---Dida included. Management had some choices to make this summer---either invest in a top class keeper, and then end up with a pretty average second string, or have 3 above average keepers, who are not exceptional, but can all start games and come on at crucial moments.
We all know what they have decided, and I am expecting us to concede the odd "easy" goal. But this is where the rest of our investments need to show their worth. If Dinho, Sheva, Kaka, Pato, and co play to their potential, it's not going to matter which one of the 3 is our starting keeper, they would all be good enough as we woudnt need a "Buffon".

To be honest, Abbiati was really good today.
Even Buffon cannot save the first goal.
As for the second goal, Abbiati was caught out of position abit, but he was not the one to blame as his defense(Kaladze again) did not do his part at all.
TO be honest, if Milan actually signed Zapata or Santacroce(A TRUE FANTASY), both Bologna goals will not happen.

I'd be happy enough with Barzagli only...
but Zapata is dream come true.. just like when Milan signed Nesta out of nowhere..

How can you possibly say that? This is football we're talking about. The chain of events that lead to a goal involve more than just a couple of defenders. That is why barring a horrendous individual error, the team must take collective blame for a goal conceded---ie there may be equal fault of the forward who lost the ball as the defender who mistimed a challenge. On the other hand, if the team win, it is not only the striker who takes the plaudits, the whole team from GK to the striker must get credit. In short, we win and lose as a team. No point saying that if this one or that one was in the team, we wouldnt have conceded or if this striker was playing instead of that, we would have won by a big margin.
i'd like to see us sign a rb so that we don't end up playing Flamini out of position all the time.

To be honest, due to the fact that Rino and Ambro and Pirlo must play when healthy, i think Flamini will be playing at RB if everyone is healthy.
Inter got Quaresma
Yeah, funny Moratti

Why MUST they play? It's set attitudes like this that stops the side evolving. Flamini played better than both Gattuso & Ambrosini last season and should start ahead of one of them in midfield. Not to mention we all saw how bad things were when Gattuso & Ambrosini were in midfield together because of their limitations as players. One or the other, not both. Besides if we end up playing 4-2-3-1, we won't play all of them anyway.
Weighing up form & fitness, Flamini is still better than the pair of them. Playing him at RB (because we don't have a true back-up player now Oddo's gone) is just a complete waste. Why not play Ambrosini or Gattuso at RB?
mrki, sorry to say Corluka joined Spurs for just £8.5 million!

Too bad...Imo Corluka is better player than Kala,Bonera and Senderos...plus he can play RB really good. And he went really cheap.
