apparently the agreement was if Kaka was sold Berlusconi would cover the clubs debt this year, i don't think for a minute that the management would be silly enough to spend the cash on 70 million euro debt it would be retarded in every way. If berlusconi doesn't cover the debt than i would expect it to stand for a couple more seasons before eventually getting paid off. I would suggest that the sale of big name players was intended to give Milan a transfer fund for the 09/10 season and maybe even the 10/11 season.

Rick, here again you make another assumption that Ronnie will put forth his best effort. The main problem that I think everyone has had with Ronnie in the past few seasons aside from "injuries", is that he's not convinced anyone with making an "effort" at all. What makes you feel that this year will be different from the previous three?
No, I'm not assuming he'll put forth his best effort. It's just that I'm not assuming that he won't. The conditions and the opportunity are there for him to take up the challenge. It's up to him to do it.
Here, you put up a great point about the money. What I ask is, what about the motivation to join our squad? We just sold our best player off, we are technically a team in transition (though some of our previous greats have gone as far as to say we are in decline). What would be the motivation of the players to actually come to our second tier club? We don't seem to be that good at challenging for trophies anymore, and the country's tax rate means that players can actually join a club with just as good a history as ours, but at the same time pocketing more salary. You have to face the reality, mate, we're just not as attractive a club as we used to be anymore.
Yes, we may actually attract talent to the club, and yet how many will be able to prove themselves? In the past 5 or 6 years we've attracted "talents" and maybe 3 out of a possible 35 have lived up to the hype, and the rest were all washed up, "proven" stars who still could not make the grade.
Milan won the Champions League only two years ago. Do you really think that players now see Milan as a "second tier" club just because Kaka was sold? Yes, the tax rate (I'm not sure why Berlusconi can't do something about that) and the economy make it more difficult, but things are tough for almost all clubs. There are never guarantees when you buy a player and sometimes it's impossible to satisfy fans who complain if a player is over 25, yet want only players who are already proven at the highest level brought in. But Milan has always been good at finding players such as Sheva, Kaka, etc., and helping them to achieve greatness. If you're only going to be satisfied with Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi, then you're right -- Milan won't be able to attract such players at the moment. But Milan can find players who are on the verge of greatness and help them achieve it.
The worrying thing is that Kakas deal will set a new precident in transfers Like Laporta said earlier today. Every club we deal with knows we have the money, so they will try and Fleece us for every penny.
This is a big worry, but it was inevitable. If it hadn't been Kaka, it would have been somebody else. Right now Madrid is preparing to offer Manchester United more money than they just paid for Kaka to try to buy Ronaldo. This will happen as long as there are clubs such as Real Madrid who bask in their own arrogance and clubs such as Manchester City who become playthings for billionaires who have so much money they don't know what to do with it. But this has become the case in all of sports today.
The worrying thing is that Kakas deal will set a new precident in transfers Like Laporta said earlier today. Every club we deal with knows we have the money, so they will try and Fleece us for every penny.
That's true. Which is also why I think the deal was worth much more then 67mil. I doubt Berlusconi sold Kaka for 67mil when he had an offer of 100 mil just 4 months ago. Galliani and Perez are friends and Real might be Kakas dream club, but business is business and you don't end up with 11 bil with rejecting 100 mil and then accepting 67 mil 4 months later. It will never be trully known and the 67 mil number I think is only a "newspaper number". A number around 80 mil is more believable. Also, the less they claim, the less will the fans ask for big splash of money on the market. (ex. If they say we got 67 mil we will expect them to spend at least 50 of it on the market.......as opposed to them saying they got 80 mil and we expect they spend at least 65 mil.)
There is also something in it for Perez.....as now he can go and lower the prices of Ribery and Villa. Saying that since he signed Kaka for 67 mil, Villa shouldn't be worth more then 40 mil and neither should Ribery. (example)
I personally never trust the prices that are thrown to us by the papers or the officials. No one is ever completely honest when it comes to business no matter what kind of business we are talking about.
I wouldn't even be surprised if we sign Dzeko(just and example) for 20 mil now and claim that we spent 30 mil on him in order to prove that our pockets have emptied a bit so we can drop prices for other players.

The most saddening news of recent days was Pato's comments that he will see about his future later in the summer...it's sad that he didn't commit to us.
I've had a few conversations with other fans and other people, alot of people actually think Kaka's departure is good for Milan for many reasons. 1) Cause we were too dependant on him, now we will be forced to play like a team 2) Will give us some much needed cash to spend on a bunch of players.
I personally haven't liked Kaka's performances in the last 2 years, he has been very inconsistent. Oh yeah and don't be surprised if Kaka would suck at Real, cause Milan like to sell players once they know that there's something wrong with them (ie. Sheva). It could very well be true that the MilanLab found out that Kaka's knee injury was never going to get any better....

Well, I just read an article on Channel4 and the title is LITTLE MILAN.
I really don't think Serie A is as bad as what Galliani is saying as INter and Juve seems to be building on their team. I mean if Morretti comes out and say I have to sell Maicon and Ibra b/c of the economic crisis, and Secco comes out and say the same about Chellini and Givonco. Then the league itself is in trouble.
It is too bad that Berlu just does not want to invest in Milan, while still wants to be the owner.
Great points, Gabriel...
Itīs funny to see people calling Kaka out as the one to blame.
As you said, why Inter isnīt selling Maicon or Ibra??
Why juve isnīt selling Chielline or Jovinco?? They are Serie A clubs or not?? Why they donīt need to sell their stars, and still are buying great players(like Diego). Itīalways easy(and cheap) to call a player mercenary...
Most disgusting is to see people criticizing him for the smiles at the press conferece...have you guys watched the press live?? You guys saw the jokes the journalist were telling Kaka before the press??
Kaka smilling scene was before the press, with journalists joking a lot with him about the move. Itīs not surprise that people outside Brazil believe in every "new messi", "new Kaka", "new Robinho" that european press say...
itīs sad to see people that never saw the press calling him for the smille. I saw all the questions and kaka as clear. He grow as a São Paulo player and fan, and always had in mind to play for a big in Europe. He chose Milan over others offers at that time because as he said, was the best(team) of the bunch.
He was clear: He wanted to stay, and didnīt ask for a raise(Even Galliani said that last week). They try to sell him to Manchester City, he said no, because it was not a big team. He said to Berlusconi and Galliani that if they want to sell him, he only accepted a move for a BIG team: and Real Madrid was his first choice if they want o sell him.
He was clear, he didnīt ask for a raise, or to be selled. But our managment wanted(for some reason) to make cash with him(financial problems? We will never know)
And one more time, for the ones that are talking nonsense without to see the entire press conference: Kaka was clear: You want to sell me? Ok, but I will chose the club, and his choice was R. Madrid. Kaka didnīt demande a trade or a raise on his wages. He was glad at Milan. What he demanded was the right to chose the club to be sold...Imo, more than fair enough
Btw, Itīs to much false moralism(and a cheap shot) to want Kaka to accept M. City offer...He is a top-3 in the world, a bright person, and he clarly isnīt a retard...Enough is enough.
For Milan taking the Man City offer would have been better and I don't think if the team was "willing to sell" then Kaka would have refused to go to Man City. If indeed he at least is partially motivated by helping Milan as has been said by him and others then it's clear Milan lost here.
As for the smiles, to me it doesn't matter any way no matter what the reasons. He is free to even laugh at us, results on the pitch and being the strongest we can be on the pitch is my concern.
As for asking for a raise, to be frank even if he asked it wouldn't be automatic. A good percentage of our problems now are high salaries not transfer money so we can't splash around raises for ever.
Brasileiro is right. Some of you are just being silly now. Top players want to win and to be successful, and at the wage levels they get in their prime, only an over-rated fool (*cough*Robinho*cough) is going to spend the next five years enjoying battling it out for that sixth European spot from England when they could have spent it battling for a CL championship. Swimming around in a vault full of cash, Uncle Scrooge style, probably get's old after the first few times. You can't hold anything against Kaka...hell, Milan wanted to sell him for a year. It's not nice being a mere bargaining chip or commodity, but one assumes athletes are used to it in a way. He is gone and he ain't coming back. It's done.
I am looking forward to see what happens next. In the past Milan always managed to sell players at just the right time, even if it didn't seem that way at the time, and buy players on the up. The last three or so years have been pretty weak in that regard (One can point to the economy, but there were recessions in the late 80s and 90s that didn't affect the team that much. If a guy is smart enough to get laws passed indemnifying him from future presecution, he's smart enough to know how to shop in a bad economy. That is, if he still cares for the ego and prestige boost owning a successful team brings.). With the exception of Pato, who've we bought that's been anything above just average?
Maybe we've pulled another trick and will see players like Hernanes (who is supposed to be very good), Dzeko (who is very good) and a raft of young defenders (pretty much anyone but the vastly over-rated Mexes) arriving and this last few weeks will seem like a bad dream. Maybe Ronaldinho CAN just turn it on and off like a lightbulb, and will tun it on to show Dunga he's still in the mix for 2010. Who knows? Then again, it could be No-Gol-ivera all over again. It is entirely up to the ownership and management at this point. We've got a great tradition, years of success and a great track-record in team building, so we probably owe it to the team to take a wait and see attitude. That's the attitude I'm taking.
Unfortunately, I have very little confidence in those in charge, judging from the last three or so years. But I still want to believe.

First of all we don't even know if the Manchester City offer was 100 M euro's, for all we know it could've been the same as Real Madrid's offer. Back in january there were rumours of 60M, 80M, 100M, 120M, 150M euro's, 100 M euro's just seemed to be the one that got thrown around the most. In fact Manchester City officials said afterwards that the figure wasn't anywhere near that. I also find it absurd that people complain that we ONLY got 67.2 M euro's for him. Kaka is the SECOND most expensive player in the history of football and we're in the middle of a RECESSION!! The fact that he peaked two years ago, and has been injured alot during the last two years, makes it even more crazy. The one who's the most to blame is Florentino Perez for artificialy inflating the prices of footballers by offering sums of money that his club doesn't even have.
Anyways, that's all history now. It looks almost certain that we will get Dzeko, as I mentioned earlier, the fact that we are even considering him makes it certain that will play a 2 striker formation, which again makes it almost certain that we'll play 4-3-1-2. Right now it seems most likely that we'll end up with a front trio of Pato and Dzeko with Ronaldinho behind them. Now I don't really mind Ronaldinho, contrary to what alot of people said, I think he looked very motivated in the last couple of months. Every time he came on the pitch he looked like he was willing to fight for his place. But IF we are going to replace Kaka, the only player that can do that, and is available is in my opinion Antonio Cassano!
I don't see where anybody implied we should have gotten more money. Going by the reported numbers, Man City's were all higher (I personally don't recall seeing lower numbers anywhere). Not sure how anybody can argue that from a financial point of view alone Man City wasn't better for us....any way Christian I agree, it's all history now.

In fact Manchester City officials said afterwards that the figure wasn't anywhere near that.
Oddly enough I had just been reading an article from a Manchester City site (complaining about Platini being silent through all this after being vocal against the alleged City move) that said exactly that:
No-one can remember any such figures emanating from inside the club and it just wouldn't make proper business sense to tell the world's media how much you're bidding before negotiations have even started. Ultimately, Mr Platini and all the others who slated the blues following the collapse of the deal were suckered into believing mindless paper talk and made up figures.
He's right, of course. The figures being thrown about in the media were absolutely ridiculous. Hell, the figure Milan actually admitted to getting from Real Madrid is a ridiculous figure!
I also find it absurd that people complain that we ONLY got 67.2 M euro's for him. Kaka is the SECOND most expensive player in the history of football and we're in the middle of a RECESSION!! Well, I just said it, but I'll say it again -- it's a ridiculous amount of money! No one player is worth that much. Perez knows it. He's just counting on the publicity and the image of Real Madrid as the world's big powerhouse. It makes him look good now, but in the end his galactico policy will fail this time just as it did the last time. Hopefully they will buy Ronaldo, Villa and every big name player they can, fail miserably because they don't know how to build a team (only a roster) and eventually go bankrupt and be relegated to Spain's second division. It would serve the arrogant bastards right.

This is the exciting part to me. The past is the past. Now Milan must look forward and use every ounce of their scouting prowess to build a young, dynamic squad that will be not only a serious contender for many years in both Serie A and in the Champions League, but a team that will proudly be champions.

This is the last bit I will write about the Kaka' saga.
In my opinion, we are being a bit naive about this whole affair.
The groundwork for Kaka's departure was laid down in 2006, when we, bruised from Calciopoli and a points deduction, had to endure him and his father meeting with Calderon.
Tuttosport, which is right maybe twice a year, broke with that story and most of us paid no attention to it.
On the heels of that clandestine meeting, Milan renewed Kaka's contract for the first time. In the press conference Kaka' said, "Yes, I met with Real, but Milan were the first to know about it."
That meeting showed two things:
1) Kaka's father was willing to listen to Real Madrid and their offer, undoubtedly emboldened by Milan's post-Calciopoli predicament.
2) Real Madrid could buy any player by virtue of ridiculous contracts and their nearly celestial status (Franco the criminal notwithstanding)
Bosco Leite's willingness, whether right or wrong, proved that while Kaka' may be angelic, his agents are like most people in this world--greedy.
After failing to sign Kaka', Calderon said, "Galliani told me that they're nervous because of Calciopoli, and in the future we may be able to do business." This was probably a lie, considering how much Galliani loathed Calderon.
Roll on 2007. Milan win the CL, and suddenly Kaka' staying is almost a foregone conclusion. But that summer, Real started a staggering offensive. It was thoroughly unscrupulous, and it mobilized AS and Marca. Report after report of Kaka' telling Berlusconi, "at least listen to their offer", or posing in the Real jersey.
Kaka' comes back from his vacation and says, "The door to Real Madrid is closed, but it was never open because I have a contract with Milan." Then, very tellingly, "I cannot say I am Rossonero for life because if, in the future, Milan decide to sell me, there is not much I can do."
At the end of that summer, Kaka' gave an interview to Sky I believe, in which he stated, "Milan for life? That depends on Berlusconi."
This coyness and the measured responses showed two things:
1) Kaka' knows how to play the game.
2) He wouldn't exactly slit his wrist at moving to Real Madrid.
World Soccer then interviewed him that same summer, and he deferred to Providence: "I want to stay at Milan. But only God knows my future."
Bosco-->Berlusconi-->and now God.
Kaka' meanwhile began the season in earnest, and in the beginning of 2008 he renewed his contract yet again! He expressed his commitment: "Now I can say, I am Milan for life."
A few weeks later, he confessed that "after Athens I did think of leaving." But wait Kaka', did you not say in the summer of 2007 that it depends on Berlusconi whether to sell you or not? Perhaps he was hinting that only Berlusconi could sign him away; most likely, however, he was hinting that he wanted another pay rise, which he duly received.
Bosco, doubtless thrilled at his own cash cow, slept easy.
We don't make the Champions League in 2008, and Kaka' stays. We buy Ronaldinho. I had a feeling back then that he was brought in to replace Kaka'. And it seems I, and I am sure a few others, have been proven right.
You all are looking at this from January 2009 onwards. Perhaps Milan did make an error of judgement then, but Kaka's entourage are consummate manipulators. The 'entourage' that follows Brazilian players is insidious because it positions the player between his family and his professional life.
This departure was three years in the making. The saddest thing is that Calderon appears to be the most prescient now. In 2007, when the Kaka'-Real affair was at its apex (or nadir depending upon your perspective), he had said, "Sooner or later Kaka' will come to Madrid."
Brasiliero, the problem isn't his move itself, it's more because of all his declarations in the past ... things like "I want to be the next captain", "I want to be like Maldini", etc ... if in his mind, a move was possible (which was so), this kind of declarations was just useless, as well as the reason why he stayed this winter reporting to what he said ("fans convinced me to stay").
Then, of course, he is now a Madrid player, we will all look sometimes at what he does there, but we will all hope that he doesn't win anything in his new team.
Oh, and about players sold, rumours are about Maicon going to ... Real Madrid, and Ibrahimovic to Barcelona (of course, when Real Madrid splashes money, Barcelona tends to follow). Is it because of the crisis or because of the will of the players, I don't know and I don't care ...

Looking back, maybe it would have been better had Kaka gone to Madrid in 2007. The money may not have been quite so much, but it would have bought more and Milan was in the position of being European champions. But best of all, it would have saved us from the three-ring circus that came to town every mercato since. ;)
Great post, by the way!

Thanks for the story I think all these are really coming together well to fit the puzzle.
No offense mate, but I think you might have misinterpreted my last arguement a bit. I never once mentioned that we needed absolutely to get proven stars. They're near impossible to get anyway since their clubs know it'd be either suicidal tactically to release them, or it didn't make sense financially.
The ones I've always been worrying about are those so-called "players on the verge of greatness". One good season doesn't necessarily make you a really good player, and unproven talents are always hits-or-misses, but mostly misses. My last arguement was based on all the potential stars that were emerging from their respective leagues which we bought and ended up playing crap for us. In that list I put down Vogel, Dhorasoo, Olivera as well as Coloccini. All of those mentioned were such talents when we bought them, but did absolutely nothing but waste space for one or two seasons and in the end had to be sold. Pato was an absolute gem of a find, but you remember we did pay around 12 or 14 Mil just to bring him over, and he was the only one of the unprovens that have so far actually made it for us on the pitch in more than just a substitute appearance. Flamini is the only other actual "steal" that I can say has been up-and-coming that has proven to be an asset to our team, and that one came about simply because Uncle Fester didn't want to lose his head last year when we got kicked out of CL. To be honest, I really don't care whether the player is under or over 25 or whatever, all I ask for is an assurance that the player isn't just a one-season-wonder who signs for us and suddenly doesn't know how to play football, kind of like Gila and a bunch of the "talents" we had to let go of.
And yet it all comes down to the same arguement. The big clubs are also buying these so-called players that are on the verge of greatness. At Man U or Arsenal, if they buy you, its more than likely they'll play you (Macheda and Nasri being my respective examples there). We all knew Gorky had talent, and yet he didn't even rate so much as two dozen substitutes appearances and a handful of starts in over two years for us. We can't even make any assurances to any "up-and-coming talents" that they'll get the chance to shine, simply based on our track record going back about a decade now. What makes us a better proposition than those big clubs?
To the question about who earns the highest now in Milan after Kaka left : According to this site (http://www.futebolfinance.com/en/os-50-maiores-salarios-de-jogadores-de-futebol-20082009/), Ronaldinho earns the highest now (6,5 mil euros per year). After that it should be players like Dida, Kaladze, Pirlo, Gattuso, Nesta, Inzaghi and Seedorf according to this data (http://footyblog.net/2007/09/15/kaka-tops-salary-list-in-serie-a/), but the data looks like from season 2006/07, so I don't know if there were new contracts for those names after season 2006/07.
Milan should manage the wages of players really carefully since the tax in Italy is really big. If we look at the data from Inter and Milan from the second source, the difference (netto) is 10 milions which should mean that Milan must provide 20 millions more than Inter. Well, 20 millions is really big! This not yet a comparation between italian clubs must spend for wages and spanish ones.
What surprised me is that the top earner in Madrid (before Kaka transfer) are Raul and Ruud Van Nistelrooy with 'only' 6,4 mil euros per year.

The groundwork for Kaka's departure was laid down in 2006, when we, bruised from Calciopoli and a points deduction, had to endure him and his father meeting with Calderon.
(rest of post)
Terrific post, Hasan. For your last take on the issue, you said a mouthful. :)
Kaka was quoted on Calciomercato today as saying, "When the possibility of going to Real was proposed I accepted immediately." Doesn't sound like a man who was forced out for the sake of improving our finances, does it?
Kaka` is f***ed up, enough said. He has done much for Milan, just like Sheva. And he had claimed multiple times that he loved Milan, oh so much like the way Sheva claimed it.
To all the rest of the Milan members: Stop claiming you'll play for Milan for life. It only made you the most hateful figure in the world.

[QUOTE=GeoTav;534531]Brasiliero, the problem isn't his move itself, it's more because of all his declarations in the past ... things like "I want to be the next captain", "I want to be like Maldini", etc ... if in his mind, a move was possible (which was so), this kind of declarations was just useless, as well as the reason why he stayed this winter reporting to what he said ("fans convinced me to stay").
First of all, Iīm not in the team that think Kaka is a saint. No one is...
But, You know whats funny, GeoTav? Gattuso also talk a lot about his love for Milan, but one season ago said for all the pappers that was willing to accept a B. Munich offer, to go to Munich. No one, I say, no one called him a mercenary. After some meeting with our MGT, they "convince" Gattuso to stay(raise?), and he still tell about his love for Milan...right. To be fair, Gattuso gives 110% on the field(like Kaka), but his aproach had nothing to do with love, and no one jump at him. He isnīt a foreign...
Maybe Iīm biased, not because Iīm Brazilian, but because Iīm a ex-player that was forced to retire thanks to a carrer-ending injure still on youth teams. So, before I earn pro money I need to retire...there was no supporter to pay my medical costs. 10 years after, my back is still bad, I need to do RPG, Pilates(very expensive) and no fan is sending me money to pay my treatment.
So, I canīt stand when I saw some one calling a player mercenary. Sure, thereīs some players that deserve to be called, but they arenīt the majority. They(players), if are luck, will have 9 or 10 years to make money for the entire life. They also have a lot of people to suply, not only wife and kids, sometimes the entire family.
Also(as I have friends that played in Europe), we(Brazilians) have to deal with a lot of prejudice and racism(even from our own teammates), and we need to play 2x better than a player from the country we play. The foreign donīt have the benefice of the doubt. As we said: "you need to kill a lion every day"...
So, sorry but I donīt agree with some things I read here in MM. There was no one mad at Gattuso when he wanted to go for Bayern, no one called him a mercenary, but with Kaka is another history...fair enough.
Then, of course, he is now a Madrid player, we will all look sometimes at what he does there, but we will all hope that he doesn't win anything in his new team.
Donīt put me on your team. I HATE Real Madrid, but I wish Kaka all the best. He gives 110% on the field wearing a Milan shirt, played injured, fight with Dunga to not go to Copa America for to be health for Milan next season and was a consumate professional...So I hope the best for him(titles included). Of course, if we donīt face Real...
Maicon is still pure rumour, and no Press reliable in Brazil are betting on that...and Ibra is a trade with Etoo. Two head cases, but at least Etoo deliver in Europe. So, I think Inter will be even better...
Look, If Inter and Juve sell one of their stars this summer ok, I will said Iīm wrong. But until now, we are the only big team in Serie-A sending the wrong message to the world of football. Itīs not coincidence Pirlo didnīt close the door for a Chelsea move. Champions wants to be in a winner project, and we(until now) are sending the wrong msg(selling our star) also to our own players...
Bosco-->Berlusconi-->and now God.
Thanks. I thought more or less the same, but you wrote it the best. :)

So, before I earn pro money I need to retire...there was no supporter to pay my medical costs. 10 years after, my back is still bad, I need to do RPG, Pilates(very expensive) and no fan is sending me money to pay my treatment.
I am sorry to hear about your career-ending injury in the youth team, and I'm sympathetic to your account.
Having said, we are talking on a different level. I don't think people are saying that he is wrong in going for the money; there is nothing wrong with it. We all accept it as it is the way of life.
And I can promise you that it's not because he is a Brazilian (though I apologize for offending anyone esp. those from Brazil if my previous posts are offensive): Basically he invokes the same reactions from us as Shevchenko, who is a Ukarine. The point is not about where the players come from; the point is the motive.
Gattuso loves Milan, and he even ADMITS at one point that he wants to leave. Fair enough. Then he got convinced (without a pay raise unless it's secretive) that he should stay and fight for the club.
Kaka`? It's an entirely different story: I want to be a captain, I want to retire at Milan like Maldini, I want to win the trophy with Milan again... I don't know if Gattuso has ever said that. Next thing you know? Off he goes, medical AT BRAZIL, signed, sealed, delivered.
"I love Milan"...
MY A$$.
And every time when he is asked whether he is going to leave, he said, "I'm going to stay in Milan for life. But one day if Berlusconi wants me to leave..." "I am here at Milan forever, but if Milan decides to sell me..."
Alright, putting the blame on Milan, huh?
It's exactly these kinds of comments: "but if Milan decides to sell me..." "if Berlusconi wants me to leave..." It's exactly these kinds of comments that fuse MORE specualations, wave after wave.
Do we see Gattuso say, "I will retire at Milan, but if Berlusconi wants to sell me..." To me, if he said that, it would be a heart-breaking to us fans, because we know that he truly loves Milan. If he thinks of leaving, it's not because he thinks that the club doesn't want him; it's because he thinks that he may no longer have the passion.
To Kaka`? Fine, sell me if you want but I'm only going to RM.
In fact, I don't think ANYONE will tolerate such comments except you are such a superstar, well-adored by the fans.
In Chinese, we say that he 'shows his a$$ to you and off he goes'.
And what's worse? "It's because of Milan's financial crisis".
I'll be honest with you: I haven't seen a hypocrite as worse as he is.
For some times now, I wish I had posted something before like, "learn to shut your damn mouth when people ask whether you are staying for life or leaving for goods". But he was well-liked; and nobody will put the blame on him; rather, it's Gila, it's Dida, it's Maldini, it's Favalli, it's Seedorf.
"But if Berlusconi wants to sell me..."
***
Again, nothing against Brazilian; only because of the way he or (most probably) his father behaves.

Last thing I am going to comment on this Kaka's sell.
First I would like to tell a story about my fav. Hockey Team, Toronto Maple Leafs.
Little backgorund. The NHL and other North American sports have a regular season and then the top teams from the regular season will then proceed to a playoff. And winning the playoff is much more important than winning the regular season. And every year about 3 months before the playoff, there is this trade deadline date/last day of transfer. A lot of teams who are no longer in the playoff will trade their most prized players to teams who are likely to be in the playoff or fighting for the playoff spots. The trade is for dumping the players salary and stock piling draft picks, unlike football no tranfer fees.
About last year, the Leafs struggles and probably won't make it to the playoff, they tried to trade away their long serving Captain-Sundin(since he will be a free agent after the season) to a contender for future draftpicks and prospects. But Sundin refuses and states that he is not a mecanery and that the Leafs can still make the playoffs-they almost did.
Now if someone made that statement, he is a legend and all fans should be happy to have someone like him on the team, right. Well, thats not really the reaction from fans, they all called him greedy(reports stated that he have not sold his house in Toronto), not thinking about the team, not scarificing for the better good of the team, and MGT not forcing him out...... At season end, Sundin left and temp. retire before making a come back(a common theme for NHL players in their mid 30s) with another team. More fans call for his head for not doing anything to help the Leafs, who made him a star... while few blamed the MGT for giving out bad contracts to overachievers or one season wonders, or not developing players.
What I am trying to point out is that either way, it is very easy for fans to point finger at the player. SInce if Sundin left the Leafs, and the Leafs finished the season by just missing the playoff, fans will tell Sundin to f**k off for not staying and helping the Leafs.
Now on to Kaka. I think when he said those things like Milan for life, I want to be Milan Captain....he meant them. And I still believe he wants to stay and play in Milan but the directions of the club is not something to his liking. Also, I think Berlu really forced him out. I think someone here said it best, he is fine with staying or playing for Real.
And Kaka is really like Sundin, if Milan manage to win anything next year, we all will tell kaka to f**k up and thinks the MGT are god for using the money to build a new team. While if we struggles and Real does really well, we will still tell Kaka to F**k up while also tell the MGT to p**s off.

Now Pirlo to Chelsea????
Can they take Seedorf too, b/c at this rate, Seedorf is becoming a legend of Milan, if that day comes, thats the saddest day in Milan history.
And peeps, pls don't fool yourself by thinking Seedorf will start playing well and play a huge role in our success next season. Believing in Dinho back in shape(something I know he can do it) or Pirlo playing like 2006 again is one thing, but having faith in Seedorf is like Baggio and Weah coming back to play for Milan.

I think you've outdone yourself with your posts, Jeff, and I agree with them completely. Plus, it's a welcome change from the insane asylum over at R&B.
I just got home from dinner (I am stuffed :)) and briefly scrolled through there. More people gradually seem to be gravitating toward the "Kaka lied his way out" state of mind.
As the days progress, we'll be talking less and less about it. We may not agree with each other all the time on the issue, but the Italian-based fans, they're just delusional, period. They believe Kaka could do (or did) no wrong and are sticking to their increasingly-transparent "Kaka was forced out" story.
I can hardly think straight from overindulgence, so I think I'll call it a night. :)
First of all the most important thing. Lesson For Jerks
This transfer is for those JERKS and PIECE OF ****, who call themselves AC Milan fan and displayed nonsense things about Paolo Maldini on his last game at the San Siro. Its a slap on the face for them tbh.
Second most important thing. Only One Palolo Maldini
If a players produces match winning performances and becomes integral part of ACM formation, don't expect him to be the next AC Milan legend and specially no the one to succeed Paolo Maldini as the new face of AC Milan, as I can see many fans here think of Pato becoming the next AC Milan legend. I would not expect any thing from a forward/striker and specially a non Italian one. All of them would leave one day :)
Third most important thing. Expect Big Changes
I am expecting big, I mean really BIG changes at AC Milan this season for good. Pato and Pirlo should be sold as well for 45 mil and 30 mil pounds receptively. I can't tolerate a 19 year kido talking like that towards ACM and for Pirlo the time is up I guess. 30 million if too good offer to resist for a 30 year old player who hasn't been the same for 2 years now.
Fourth most important thing. Who Should Be IN
I hope (as mrki says) that B&G will invest all the money on the squad. Considering the departure of Pato and Pirlo, ACM would have about 65+15+55+35=170 mil euros. As a member said earlier that ACM can buy the whole Inter with that kind of money :grinser: Well lets just get Maxwell from the for free or little cash and let the rest of Inter enjoy their Scudetto win. My big changes would include the addition of the following players:
Igor Akinfeev (25 mil) and Juri Zirkov (25 mil)
If ACM go for either of them alone, there are more chances of them rejecting the move. But if ACM go for them together, there are more chances that they would end up at Milan. 99.9% fans would love to see Zirkov at ACM, so no question there. His price tag set by CSKA is 18 mil pounds, so it would be round about 25 mil euros if I am not mistaken. As for Igor Akinfeev, well enough of Abbiatti, d!da :googly: and Kalac. We need a world class gk, and IA is certainly a great gk. Plus he is just 22-23, so get him now for little expensive and for get about signing a new gk for the next 10 years :bri:
Santacroce (20-25 mil)
Again 99.9% ACM fans would love to have him to partner Nesta & Bonera
Daniela De Rossi (30 mil) OR Jao-Moutino (25 mil)
In both cases, ACM would have a very fine player to control the midfield along with Gattuso and Flamini. Plus no non-EU problem as well.
David Silva (25-30 mil)
I hope 20-30 mil euros would be enough to get him. Fantastic player and can player as AM, 2nd striker and winger. I think he won't move to Barca or Real Madrid, because he is a kind of loyal towards Valencia. I guess Liverpool or Chelsea will have some thing to say about him. The other options could be Tim Cahill of Everten or Frank Ribery, but Ribery would be very expensive I guess. As for Tim Cahill, for me he is an extremely under ratted player. He is by far the most consistent performer in EPL for the last 5 season outside the players of so called Big4 teams. I have seen him leading Australian National team from the front in the world qualifiers in Asia one day and next day flying back to EPL and producing man of the match performances for Everten week in week out. Plus he is a pretty versatile player. One more thing, he has stopped Chelsea on 2 occasions by pulling out draws at Stamford Bridge at crucial times of the last 2 EPL seasons. For me, he would do fine at ACM, no two ways about it.
Dzeko (20 mil)
Its fair to say that he is coming
G.Rossi (15-20 mil)
He is Italian, young and very talented. Pato could leave at some point if he stays now, but with G.Rossi there are more chances of him staying for a very long time. Pato may be more talented, but G.Rossi could be more loyal to ACM
*************************************
Igor Akinfeev 25 mil
Juri Zirkov 25 mil
Santacroce 25 mil
De Rossi or Jao Moutinho 25 - 30 mil
David Silva - 30 mil (or Tim Cahill for much cheaper price)
G.Rossi - 15 - 20 mil
Dzeko - 20 mil
Maxwell - Free or little money
--------------------------------------------
Total = 170 - 175 mil euros
*************************************
With these players in, ACM would enter a completely new era :pp20: Now lets hope B&G do what they have promised and spend all the money. I hope things will change :5ok:
Last thing to say is Its not over with Kaka
We will meet him in CL and will show him who is better
Red&Blaack or White
:510:
Kaka` is f***ed up, enough said. He has done much for Milan, just like Sheva. And he had claimed multiple times that he loved Milan, oh so much like the way Sheva claimed it.

Jeff, never seen you this upset...
However, totally understand. Just as upset... My gf couldn't compute why i was so upset and why i wasn't in the 'mood'!
Btw, can someone tell me how to change my avatar? I kinda forgot and been stumbling around without any success...
I think i'll just stick to players that ARE already a legend, not a sheva or kaka like avatar... and will leave Pato out...
We sell our best player and keep the turds to balance the books, when not one other big club in far more debt than us would do the same thing. Time for a management change. Berlu OUT NOW.

10-06-2009, 01:53
[I posted this in another thread, but I thought it would be appropriate here, as well.]
To those who are now saying that Dinho is finished and that Milan, is therefore finished, let me just jog your memory.
Now, when Ronaldinho started our season opener, we had the following said about him, I'm just picking from random pages I visited on the first day:
"Dinho is playing very well today, class is here to be seen!"
or
"great assist by Ronaldinho, we're playing great football"
or
"Again Dinho great cross directly to Pipos head.Pipo loose an easy goal.
Ronie is playing great!!!!!!!!"
or
"whoah...dinho is just having fun out there"
or
"THIS IS THE RONALDINHO WHO WON THE GOLDEN BALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM TRIPPING AND FLIPPING AND GOING CRAZYYY OVER HERE"
or
"Dinho he was pure magic"
But that is beside the point. The reality is that Ronaldinho, even during that first game, where he was out of shape (like he is now), still provided enough chances on his own for the strikers to score 10 goals. Sheva missed one of the most perfect assists from Dinho.
The reality is that the big question here is "can Dinho be fit enough?" I think so. I think he'll be motivated, because Dunga has dropped him, Kaka has been sold, and he knows Milan is looking for someone to make this ship sail right.
If we talk about Dinho being poor, he just had an injury-hit season (his last season at Barca) and this season he was playing rather well for the first half, do you remember that last-minute goal against Braga? The second half, Carlo stopped playing him, Becks forced his way into the team, and we started playing better, not because Dinho was out but because of various other factors.
So what is giving me hope? Thierry Henry. Now, yes, he is at Barca. He also had an injury-plagued season before going to Barca, his first season at Barca he was a disappointment. Why? Some say he was finished, that he was past it. He was 29-30, he was supposed to be finished, his best days behind him.
This season, Henry has played where he wants. He has not had Dinho to fight for space on the left, he has formed a powerful triumvirate with Messi and Etoo and has returned to something closer to what fans have expected from Henry.
Do I think this will happen? I hope it will. I think Juve and Milan took Barca's success too literally by appointing Ciro and Leonardo, the difference is that Juve will pour money into their team.
I think we have seen how much Carlo held Milan together, Kaka left because Carlo left, of that I am pretty much certain. Pato flirts with leaving because Carlo has left. Can we not see how important Carlo was to Milan?
Furthermore, the thing that worries me the most is that Leonardo, unlike Pep, seems to be the puppet of Berlusconi. That worries me. Managers need to stand up, they need to have their own ideas. I want Leonardo to say things about what we will look like, though I realize that he cannot because of transfers, but, say something! Anything!
From the first day Pep became manager he said, Ronaldinho, Deco, Samuel Eto'o and others were not part of his plans for next season. Eto'o said he wanted to stay and would fight for his place, so Pep kept him.
I want Leonardo to do this. I want Leonardo to take some control, show some managerial strength, show that he has control of his players. Pato just said he'll talk to CARLO first before deciding his future. Can you imagine Pep letting something like that slide? At least Carlo did so quietly, and made sure everyone did the job they were supposed to.
I'm sorry, but for those who wanted Carlo out, you now have your wish, and now you get to see what life without Carlo is like. It just so happens that means life without Kaka, and seemingly, Pato.
Great post Hasan. That was what I have been suspecting and have now realized for a long time. A player who is supposedly in love with his club and COMMITTED does not or rather should not be flirting with other clubs every summer and then when the time is right, jump ship. ANd don't forget, right til the end Berlusconi said that the decision was up to kaka, and he decided. So all the best to him and Madrid, at least the man's character would fit his new club well.

I would not say Carlo left so is everyone else.
I think it had more to do with Berlu wanting an easy way out of the debt's problem at Milan.
If Berlu came out and splashed money on Benzema, Zapata, and Santacroce. I don't think kaka or Pato or Pirlo will want to leave.
Well, who needs Kaka, we still have Seedorf, someone we all know what to expect and once a while he will show us the unexpected, and we all go crazy.

No offence, but I think it's perfectly understandable that Kakā wanted to leave. The way I see it, when we won the CL in 2006/7, our squad was already over the hill, although incredibly skilled. Now it's been two years, and apart from having added Pato to the squad we're basically playing the same team. From a football point of view, I think he had every reason to leave. I agree that some of his statements have seemed hypocrital, but then again - no one in this forum knows his reasons for saying that. I mean, just magine the kind of pressure he's been under. I think it's understandable.

BTW, maybe we won't play with attk mid next year.
Jeff replied you what I think ... if tomorrow Gattuso says "I want to stay here for life except if ...", in 2 days there is an official rumour from Manchester United, in 3 days, he says "don't worry I stay" to leave in 4 days, I will call him a mercenary.
As well as what Pirlo tends to be these days ... don't get me wrong, Pirlo is pure class on the field, and I like the way he tends not to speak a lot in medias, but I don't think that saying there is a possibility with Chelsea is good and respectful.
You see, I give you 2 examples of people I love to watch like Kaka', I'm even a big fan of them, they're Italian, and depending on how things will happen, I will lose a lot of respect for them.
Anyway, I don't think Gattuso will lie, I think if he goes, he will give the true reasons (no more motivation, bad project, etc ... I don't know what can be the reasons and they are different for each player).
I'm sorry for that.
Earning 9M in one season is enough to live an entire life without working as this amount won't be earned by a normal worker working from 20yo to 65yo. Even earning 2 or 3M is something that most of the people will never get by working all their life. I understand the amateur player who has the opportunity to play in a professionnal club and to be paid 10 times more for example, but I never understood the best players who earn 8-9M and who still want more (I don't write about Kaka' specially there as I think he doesn't have an improved contract in Madrid comparing to what he signed in Milan ? I'm maybe wrong).
I don't think it's something that is specific to Brazilian players (even if sometimes, especially in smaller clubs, they maybe wait a lot from their Brazilian players because they are from Brazil, it's true, but I don't think that's true for all clubs) but more to foreigners when they play in another country than their one.
I hate Real Madrid too and I never hoped anything for them, and I won't start now they have Kaka'. So it's why I said good luck to Kaka' (and good luck with their socios), but also why I don't wish anything good for the team in the following years (Kaka' can be again the Ballon d'Or, the FIFA World Best Player, or any individual title it is possible for him to get, I don't care as he is not a Milan player anymore). Anyway, this is just a point of view as valid as your one and that will be different for each person who will give his point of view about what they can hope for Kaka' in the next years ... ^^
About Seedorf, the guy seems to want to stay and still some people show a total lack of respect towards him ...
He is maybe not the best player we have, but don't forget he maybe played too much regarding his age. If Leonardo is able to use a good rotation, we could again see a useful and performing Seedorf, as well as Ambrosini (who didn't make a very good season) and Kaladze (that people love to bash here with Seedorf).

GEO,kaka did not get a HUGE improvement in the contract, bu he got a 6 year contract with 9 mil. meaning he will get paid 9 mil. when 33 y old. And I absolutely dont believe he will last thaat much due to his speed/pace dependece....We have seen him how bad he is when not in shape.

Well, not to jump on bandwagon here.
I think Kaka got paid the same as when he was with Milan and since Kaka signed a new contract last year for 5 years. Real only offered two more years for Kaka.
Having said that, I am sure Real gave Kaka signing bonuses not to include how much they paid his father.

Personally, I think Seedorf is only staying b/c Chelsea would not offer him the wages he is demanding. Thats why he said he is staying. Same thing with Dida, as nobody is going to offer Dida a better package than Milan.
Kaladze is damage good, and if a team is foolish enough to buy him off Milan, that team must love Berlu. As I think he will be the new team version of Redondo in Milan.
I thought Ambrosini played pretty solid last year. Someone who did his job and played his hearts out.
About bashing Dida, Seedorf and others, I don't see why not, as almost everyone in the world is making fun at Milan. I mean if Valencia is the team who sold Villa to Real, most of us here will start discssing which players from Valencia would fit in Milan and how much cheaper Milan could get them for since they are in debt..... Thats why I am not surprise at all about all these rumors of Pirlo leaving, Pato asking for directions.....

Kaka's earns 9m net at Madrid, at Milan he earned the same amount gross.
Taxes for football players are also very high in Italy, and very low in Spain (and other football countries).
Lets say Kaka earned maybe 5-6m net each year at Milan, he earns approximatly 40% more at Madrid.
Personally, Kaka didn't leave for financial reasons (he made enough money in Milan to be a multi-millionaire), he left because of financial reasons of Ac Milan.
He would have stayed if Milan weren't so eager in selling him.
I'm just saying that the loss of competitiveness isn't just the fault of the clubs - but it's also a structural/legal problem.
Besides, almost 70m for just one player - that's a no-brainer - every club should sell him.
For that amount, a couple of talented younger players will come to Milan, just give the management a change to proove they were right in selling Kaka.
They were right a lot if times in the past 2-3 decades ...
Ciao Kaka & Forza Milan!

Actually all figures we were talking about are after tax. The club actually pay for the salary tax of the players. Milan actually paid Kaka 18Mil a year, while 9m goes to the govt. While Real will pay about 12mil a year while 3m are tax.
I really like how you put, MGT were right a lot of times in the past 2-3 decades. Thats classic.

If Milan actually did pay kaka 18m a year, then i made a mistake and thus apologize.
But still, 70m is a lot of money, as long as they spent the money good, it isn't a drama that kaka left milan.

U sure bro, b/c the 50% tax is on the amount given out from the club and not how much the players receive at the end. Therefore, if Kaka received 9mil after tax, that would mean MIlan paid 18mil to Kaka.

Yes, that is true. It's only from Kaka. Milan had to pay 9 mil euros for taxes only for one player. That's why what Galliani always complains makes sense but in other hand Milan should manage the players' wages carefully.

firstly the tax rate of individuals earning over 70,000 euros a year in Italy is 43%, secondly if you want to work out kaka wage plus tax you start with the assumption 9 million euros a season and divide that by a hundred and times that number buy 43, working it out in my head it is 3.87 million euros meaning total wage bill for the season was 12.87 million euros without bonuses of course
He was clear, he didnīt ask for a raise, or to be selled. But our managment wanted(for some reason) to make cash with him(financial problems? We will never know)
I just want to say, again, that those things about financial crisic is a cheep trick that Berlusconi couldnt wait to use. We stoped spending money 3 years before "official" financial crisis... Milan wanted to sell Kaka', they tryed, he said yes. Everyone was pleased. I have a lot of friends that are die hard Interisti and Juventini, and everyone feels sorry that Kaka' left serie a. It is ALL coz Silvio didnt want to spend his money! I blame Berlusconi 95% for this. "Crisis" never existed in AC Milan, its all lies ( and cheep...)
---------------------------------------------------------------------
On mercato: I dont expect anything but few half-players and one good player, maybe too. The "new circle" will be ****. Last time the new circle was started with Nesta, Seedorf, Pirlo, Inzaghi!, Rivaldo, Rui Costa... that is a new circle! This is new robbing manevour...
There are plenty of players Milan can get to have AGAIN great squad: Maxwell, Santa, D'Agostino ( went away to Juve, coz Galliani doesnt follow players in serie a! ), Henanes, Eto'o, Benzema, Hazard ( maybe ), ROSSI...
It really makes me sad to see Milan does not look for Benzema coz I think he is the best solution for our CF. Aldough he had a bit of an off half year, he is a better player then Dzeko, in my opponion, and leaves us space for Hernanes. But Benzema costs 35mln at least.
No news for today except that Wolfsburd wants to keep their squad to play well in CL. Wolfsburg did great things and I wish them well, even without Dzeko maybe :)

That is extremly clear to everyone. Pato is a boy, we cant count on him yet an that level. We right now dont have a player that can change rithm and that is what is needed in CL. CL is not won without super class players. I consider Milan a lost team for next 2 years to come, you'll see. Its not possible to replace Kaka' just by buying one CF and one CM. Our whole sistem has now fell apart.

the only 100% (or more) tax rate is due to value added tax for luxury goods. i read somewhere the highest rate for income tax is one country in europe around 75% as their highest rate level on progressive rate rule.

Thats wrong b/c you are basing 43% on Kaka's salary and not 43% of how much Milan paid Kaka before tax.
The 9mil Kaka was getting is only 67% of how much Milan paid him.
Seedorf makes 5 mil, that would mean Milan paid about 10mil per season for his service.
Good that Wolfsberg is wanting to keep its squad to Challenge CL, b/c thats what any team would have done when they want to win CL.

Milan paid Kaka 18MIl a year, tax rate = 50%, thus Kaka actual earning is 9mil.
Galli once mentioned that in Spain the max rate is only 25%.

Individuals are considered resident in Italy if they are registered in the
official register of population; their principal place of business and interests
is located in Italy; or if they remain in Italy for more than six months in any
calendar year.
Progressive rates for IRPEF for 2008 are as follows:
Taxable Income (EUR) Rate (%)
Up to 15,000 23
15,001–28,000 27
28,001–55,000 38
55,001–75,000 41
Over 75,000 43
now i got this from a official Italian economic forum which is much more reliable than Galliani, do you really think that the government taxes individual who earn 77,000 euros 50% of their income. 43% is the standard rate. corporation tax is around 47% but that only applies if Milan make a profit.

If this is true Berlu should just sell up. You don't need to be Stephen Hawking to knows that we can't just remain out of the red unless the club suddenly decides it's no longer capable of competing at the highest levels, which even then if the club goes downhill, so does our revenue, which means we'll still struggle. To stay at the highest levels it will take a generation or two to rework our spending policies and balance that out with success in major competitions, as well as investing in key areas that are cheap in the long term (read youth projects).

My point is not the actual tax rate, the point is that teams in Italy do need to pay alot more for the players to have the same amount of salary than places like Spain. Whether it is 43% or 50%, Clubs in Spain or even in England only need to pay half of that. Thats a big diff.

Igor Akinfeev (25 mil) and Juri Zirkov (25 mil)[/U]
I was just checking over the gossip section on BBC and found this:
CSKA Moscow star Yuri Zhirkov says he is dreaming of a transfer to Barcelona or Milan - but has not ruled out a move to Chelsea.
It linked to a story on Setanta where he said he had always supported Barcelona and Milan as a boy and would prefer to play for one of those two clubs. But when they asked which he would choose, he said (laughing) whichever offered the biggest contract. But then he said he might slightly prefer Barcelona because he loves the city and has friends there.

.
"Per il Milan č un cambiamento epocale - afferma nella conferenza stampa di San Siro -. Pensare di vincere la Champions League senza Kakā puō essere utopistico"
It is a clunky metaphor, I admit, but one that is bandied about quite a bit by players.
He thinks that having CL aspirations without Kaka' is utopian. I translated it keeping this in mind.
-----
Maldini: We won't win without Kaka
Wednesday 10 June, 2009
Legendary Milan defender Paolo Maldini believes winning the Champions League is 'a utopia' now Kaka has left for Real Madrid.
The 40-year-old retired from football last week, having made 902 appearances for the Rossoneri over a quarter of a century.
“For Milan, it's the end of an era,” Maldini said. “To think about winning the Champions League without Kaka is utopian.
“Kaka is one of the top five players in the world. He is the first of this level to have been sold. The other four haven't moved.
“When Franco Baresi retired, I felt lost. I only saw black. But then Milan knew how to start all over again.
“This club has always gone forward. I understand the moment, but if the club manages itself as it has done up until now the story will continue,” he explained.
Maldini then went on to talk about the Ultras, who whistled him during his last game at San Siro against Roma.
“I expected something different. I believe that Adriano Galliani took it personally. He has his directors and his people.
“The words of Berlusconi have put me at ease, with a peaceful heart he said the things I wanted to hear.”
Looking to the future, Maldini believes Milan will come to rely on their remaining Brazilian stars, namely Ronaldinho and Alexandre Pato.
“Ronaldinho could become a leader, but it's up to him. He has to take more responsibility,” Maldini said.
“I don't believe Pato will leave. The hope is that we will be able to see him at Milan for many years to come. He has yet to fully understand his talent. He is only 19.”
On being asked to describe what he will do now he is retired, Maldini replied: “Manage family life. I have had various proposals. Nothing from Milan yet, but there is still time to speak about something.
“They have other priorities at the moment. Let's say that if there is a chance to work in a role of responsibility it will be difficult to say no.
“One thing is certain. I don't just want to be a face. I now await a meeting with the team to see what it is like to be on the other side,” he concluded.

you thats not true if you are a economist you would know that advertisement revenues and sponsorship deals will decrease not by much but it will affect Milan income. Milan income is divided into three portions TV deals merchandise and ticket receipts. The main portion of Milan income comes from media set deal that earns Milan approximately 150 million per season. while match day tickets revenues earn Milan about 32 millions per season and of course commercial/merchandise earns Milan 50 million euros a season. there two fixed incomes here firstly the tv deal which contracted until 2013 and the match day funds which made of season ticket holder. the third commercial and merchandising is more likely to fluctuate due to disposal incomes decreasing. In addition Milan is owned by a investment company finivest who is heading for decrease in profits of up to 5%. Now with all the contributing factors it is likely Milan revenue will decrease by 5 maybe 10 million euros but the biggest problem is that the holding company will decrease it investment in Milan by 20 million euros. It could be more as Marina Berlusconi is pushing for Milan to be self sufficient.
“Ronaldinho could become a leader, but it's up to him. He has to take more responsibility,” Maldini said.
Exactly what I've been saying. Thank you Paolo!
England pay 40% tax rate for earners above 37,000 it not that much different from Italy i can't be bothered to look up spains which i assume is probably lower otherwise it wouldn't have so many expatriates. to be honest if were at Arsenal who pay 120 million euros in wages you would assume they pay 50 million plus corporation tax 28% in taxes where as milan would pay 56 million in taxes hardly a vast difference. the reason the epl doesn't have to worry about tax rates is that its income is in excess of 1.71 billion pounds pa.
I don't know if 43% is the right number since 1-2 years ago a user from Italy said that the tax is 50% in Italy. I still assume the tax is 50% and 10% difference is still big, even 3%, like you assume, is also big enough.
If Arsenal pay 120 mil wages (netto), then they have to provide 100/60 times 120 mil euros = 200 mil euros (80 mil euros, which is 40% of 200 mil euros, is the tax). Milan in the other hand must spend 100/57 times 120 mil euros = ca. 210,5 mil euros. 10,5 mil euros a year is big enough.
Assuming in Italy tax is 50%, 10% difference with in England will be 40 mil euros which is really big.
BUT I am saying it again, Milan should manage the wages of their players carefully, some players just earn too much!

damn if italy put their income rate up by 7% in two years the country economy would just crash over night. MOI can explain to you if wants the affects of increase individual taxes to the economy, the are knock on affects to the national trade deficit companies costs international trade tariffs so many I can't get into it. so lets please assume the tax is 43% and Italy is going to take another loan from the EU.
you thats not true if you are a economist you would know that advertisement revenues and sponsorship deals will decrease not by much but it will affect Milan income. It could be more as Marina Berlusconi is pushing for Milan to be self sufficient.
no,thats where most of you are wrong, none of the 3 parts of income will decrease..it would decrease in any another case, but not for a football club with that many fans, the % of fans buying milan products(shirts etc..) has not decreased at all,the % of fans watching the games on tv,has increased as it was supposed too,and of course the tickets sales depend very much on the importance of the match and other football cases(such as star players and etc..)..milan revenue has not decreased at all,and it wont..i agree about our owners, but we are a strong club with gr8 incomes every year by itself,we dont need inflation that much..we sure needed it in the late 80's,and we;ll sure need it in some cases, but its not money that silvio will just give, its money that silvio has to invest, meaning he will get back..

you have to remember that the bulk of the merchandise is sold independently from Milan and that trend is likely to be enhance by a significant drop in disposable incomes. One instance of this is the increase of football t-shirts on ebay with over 70,000 football available for less than 25 euros you begin to see traditional areas of merchandise sales fading away. you are right in saying Milan will absorb the cost of any drop in revenue as 3 or 5 million euros is insignificant against the rest of the revenue stream. I would predict a slight drop in Milan revenues maybe a 0.5% drop at the most.

2 days ago i happened to read an article about football shirts,in sum it was written that sales are pretty stable in europes top 40..of course we may have a drop of 0.5 but thats a % that could happen even without economical crisis..i assume you know that most of companies have had losses up to 5.5% the last year, thats why i say that economical crisis is not a g8 argument in football..
I would sell Pirlo if he wants to go. We should be able to get Ģ20+ million for him, that price for a 30 year old is good business for us if we want the money so badly.
Would be great if we could convince Maicon to come here! If not him then swap Pirlo for Bosingwa and some cash.
If we're going to wipe the slate clean lets do it properly and start from the beginning.
I also can't believe the club haven't offered/spoken to Maldini about any kind of role yet, we seem to be losing touch on how to treat our legends/best players. I'd get him & Boban in as scouts/directors to make sure the club had intelligent people running it.
So our roster, after we sell Pirlo, will consist of 14 players?? We cant just shift players, we need bigger squad.
Enough sales right now, only if we are to change Pirlo for someone and buy Hernanes. Come on, do they need more money in the bank?
I think Rino said something like: We sold Kaka' for money, and now how are we gonna sub such player? There are no such players around... The "move"/trade was "male" bad...
If I misstranslated, please correct me.

football is not a ordinary business is has customers who have strong customer loyalties, like all you guys say if you support Milan its is for life and the afterlife. the problem is a lot of clubs parent or holding companies are insurance or investment firms or sometime even banks. you have to begin to question these companies ability to fund football clubs. of course the financial crisis isn't going to be great for football but it isn't going to have that much detrimental affect on football as the revenues are almost fixed. The most telling factor is that customers of football tend to be reluctant on giving up tickets and shirts of the teams they support. I live in London so was only aware that the average loss of each company was around 6.5 with UK economy predicted to contract by 3%.

thats what im talking about..thats sth that we all should be aware of..good post btw..
Now, fellas, it's time to put this Kaká business behind us (though we can still bash management :5horse:).
Some thoughts on the mercato:
GK depends on Abbiati's situation, I haven't heard of any developments with his recovery. I would like it if we signed a young keeper to compete with Abby and play the first untill he's fit again. Marchetti sounds great.
The defence is our major area of concern imo, even with Kaká's departure. Nesta is the "X factor here". If he's healthy again we might not have to splash major cash on an top experienced (NOT old) defender, though it wouldn't hurt. If Nesta isn't dependable a top CB is a must-buy. Either way, younger defenders are more than welcome...
Also a new full back is needed. We cannot depend on Oddo, Janku and the like, a better full back must come to play opposite of Zambro (no spring chicken either).
In central midfield, if Pirlo and Gattuso stay, I don't think major change is needed. If we play with 3 CMs, then maybe just one young player could arrive. Then we'd have Pirlo, Gattuso, Flamini, Ambro, New guy and Becks, if he's to return in January.
Up front, I depends on whether Leo wants to play 4-3-3, 4-3-1-2 or another formation. With the players we have I think a 4-3-3 would be ideal. Then we'd need someone to occupy the right flank and as I don't like the idea of Pato playing there, how about Giuseppe Rossi? Now a wide player as such, but better suited than Pato, surely? Also he's young, Italian, a Milan fan (so I hear) and Villarreal aren't in the Champions league.
Then we'd have Pato up front with Borriello and Inzaghi as back ups - though either of them could play as CF with Pato occasionally moved out wide. Ronaldinho then could get his big chance to regain some of his form (remember he doesn't have to be the Dinho of 2005 to be a great player for us). If Borriello doesn’t recover, then we could go for Dzeko, but if we play with just one CF, we don’t need 4 top players.
------------Abbiati
Zambro-Thiago-Nesta-New FB
-------Gattuso-Flamini
-------------Pirlo
-------Rossi-Ronaldinho
-------------Pato
If we play 4-3-1-2, then Dzeko or another big striker should come. I have my doubts on Dinho as a trequartista, but I don't see a clear cut option out there. Maybe if Rossi (not a real trequartista either, I know) came him and Dinho could take turns at playing there, which would also allow us to play 4-3-3 sometimes.

Buffon said that Gattuso took the "news badly."
We are starting to see the consequences of Kaka's sale. Even the players are skeptical of management.
In a way this is good. Hopefully there is an all out mutiny, so that Berlusconi leaves. But it won't happen.
His other option is a passionate speech to the players and 3-4 signings.
However, I think 1 player will come at the most.

thanks for the complement MOI. I think Milan owes the fans a public explanation before we recover from Kaka loss. if Milan put Berlusconi and Galliani in to position where they explain their action it will limit any kind of transfer similar to this in the future. I just want to be secure in the knowledge that Milan get to keep pato and flamini and all the other stars.

Maldini himself has said the players took the transfer badly. This situation is seriously worrying now. With Pirlo, Pato and Rino all making questionable comments on their futures and the reactions we've had, whether it be from players and ex-players, things are looking bad.
Berlu and Galliani really seem to have lost it and they have a ton of work to do to regain the faith of not just the fans.
The term "crisis" is often thrown about in football. But today, I think Milan really is in crisis and we need firm leadership to push through it.
Above all, I feel for Leo, who's just started out his new role and unfortunately has been thrown straight to the dogs.
The past couple of weeks have certainly been really tough on Milan fans. I haven't been able to sleep properly for over a week now, but I must say that having a place like MM around has kept me relatively sane. Losing Maldini, Kaka and, to some extent, Ancelotti, is a big blow, but I think that there is still hope for the future.
Although recent managerial decisions have been questionable, I refuse to believe that Berlusconi and Galliani have stopped caring about Milan, and it is ludicrous to think that they do not know what they are doing. They might be slightly old school, and in that sense, have refused to adapt their strategies to cater to modern football, but this season, we are finally about to witness something most of us have been craving for a long time now: change. I resist change more than anyone, but when changes do occur, I find that I adapt to them rather quickly.
From an emotional standpoint, I agree that Kaka should not have been sold, especially after Maldini's retirement, because now the club is left without an icon. Some of you say that this sale has set a precedent with other clubs, who may now think they can boss us around in the transfer market. And while that may be true to some extent, no player is worth the silly amount of money offered for Kaka. Despite the negatives, this sale could end up being a smart business decision in the long run. As many of you have mentioned, Ronaldinho could rediscover his form and prove to be pivotal in Europe in the next couple of seasons. Also, the money generated from the Gourcuff and Kaka sales will hopefully be reinvested in a couple of key signings to make Milan more competitive as a team. Sure, Berlusconi could have cleared the debt out of his own pocket, but 60M Euros is quite a lot of money considering the global economic context, even for a billionaire. Seedorf, Kaladze and Ronaldinho could have been offloaded instead, but would they have brought in enough funds to make Milan more competitive? I'm not sure. To those who say that Milan have lost stature with this transfer, I must say that I respectfully disagree. Given their track record, Milan will always be considered one of the greats, and that alone should be enough to attract talented players to the club. Having said that, I do think that the management needs to take intelligent steps this summer to prove to their loyal fans that they are still ambitious.
With Leonardo as our new coach, I think we will begin to see younger players get their chance to shine. Assuming he adopts a 4-3-3 or 4-3-1-2 system, here's what I am hoping for.
GK: Abbiati
[Dida]
DF: Zambrotta, Alex, Silva, Dossena
[Mattioni, Bonera, Nesta, Antonini]
MF: Pirlo, Flamini, Hernanes
[Cardacio, Gattuso, Ambrosini]
FW: Ronaldinho, Pato, Dzeko
[Seedorf, Borriello, Inzaghi]
RES: Darmian, Abate, Paloschi
IN: Mattioni, Alex, Silva, Dossena, Hernanes, Abate,
Dzeko, Paloschi
OUT: Kalac, Maldini, Favalli, Kaladze, Senderos, Jankulovski, Emerson, Beckham,
Viudez, Kaka, Shevchenko
Other options: CB (Zapata, Santacroce), RB (De Silvestri), CM (Fabregas, Melo), FW (Rossi, Adebayor)
I personally think that this would make for a very competitive squad, with a healthy blend of experienced veterans and talented youngsters. With the required funds now at our disposal, I don't think it is an unrealistic wish list.
I want to end this post by thanking Kaka, for six years of truly inspirational football, Ancelotti, for seven years of unrivaled success in Europe, and - last but certainly not least, Maldini, for two decades of loyalty, professionalism and dedication. I wish them all success in their professional and personal lives.

Fanous we can't get Alex (I think), Dzeko and Hernanes as they're Non EU
Pirlo said Kaka' is right when he claims he didnt want to go, that Milan sold him for money and that players are very upset. Also, that he cant confirm he'll play for Milan. Same thing came from Rino and PAto as you know.
So now you can see that Berlusconi dont gve a **** about fans, club and his players. He showed how much he "loves" Milan now.
Im waiting for Milans "ultras"... ops, Milan has no real ustras anymore! They should be working for some fashion company, I laugh when I see them looking lke that.

Alex is a possible get. I think he has a Dutch passport (the main reason why Chelsea sent him on loan to PSV for 4 or 5 years). That is unless of course you're not talking about THAT Alex.:d33:
But Hernanes and Dzeko together are impossible.:irritate:
Perez.

Thanx Galliani for making it easy for Milan to sell Kaka'. Now you hypocrite can celebrate some goals with your idiotic yellow tie when Dinho scores... Im off from this **** for some time. This is simply too obviously fixed and Milan is being robbed. **** off Silvio and G. and Im off also.

What do you think about Giuseppe Rossi? He would be a good option to improve our right side of attack. He plays in Squadra Azzurra as a right - wing - forward. I've heard that he wants to return to the Italy. Villarreal won't play in Champions League (5. spot).

As I wrote in my previous post, I think he'd be an ideal signing for us. Apparently he's a Milan fan, and even though he has stated that he's happy in Spain, surely he'd prefer to play in the CL with his favourite (?) team rather than play in the Europa League with Villarreal.

That's a deal born of fantasy as you're basically valuing Sneijder & Robben at Ģ10 million seeing as we sold Kaka for Ģ60 million at most.
So it would never happen.

19 million euros for sneijder and robben what a deal, nah robben alone would cost a minimum of 19 million euros. I hope Milan buys one of these player apparently if the galactico's come to Madrid part of the Dutch contingent is going to leave. apparently buying robben and van der vaart will be cheaper than normal. it would nice to take something back from Madrid personally i would like robben or sneijder or huntelaar maybe even saviola mercelo drethe.

i think that with 80 mil available its a tottally realistic 11 (i mean you have only 2 new players..)
but imo not really a wc..
in your 11 i think we should be pondering a lot to dinho,in which i dont believe(as a lot of u do)..i d like t see gattuso in,abate will need time,im sure he would be a reliable sub but not a starter yet..and you've correctly put pato on the left because of dinho being a 10..im not sure at all..
for the last time.
stop talking about depts..its ridiculous
stop talking about economical crisis..
i study economics(business of administration),and a gr8 lecturer gave a speech a week a go in my university, somewhere between his words,he said that economical crisis has not affected big european football clubs and it will never do,it may have affected some owners, but the stocks and the books of the clubs as firms are the most stable in the financial world..and that was sth that they all expected, because of the club's relation to it's customer(us,it's fans)..
silvio is vomit..he is the only one to have used this reasoning, because he is used to manipulting his audience..
I have a degree in Economics (social and economic sciences), saying the clubs are not affected is wrong. The clubs are not directly hit by this crisis of course, but undirectly, they suffer from it.
I think the crisis is worse in Italy than in France for example, so even if clubs are not touched, it's the people living in the country who are touched by this crisis (unemployment, wages decrease), so the clubs probably sell less shirts, there are probably less fans in the stadiums (the ones who paid their "season ticket" are ok, but the ones who pay for each game ...), we just don't know if they decreased the price of their tickets or not for example. I just don't know what are all the activities of AC Milan for example.
So actually, the clubs are touched by this crisis because all merchendising products are less sold.
Then, saying that this 60M debt is because of the crisis, it's sure that they probably think we are stupid ... :D
Let's say that this crisis can't help the clubs to recover if they had a debt before the start of this enonomical crisis ...

Are you serious? Zlatan is the best striker in the world today, second to non. It was basicly him that won Inter the Scudetto this year. Remember Eto'o last summer? He was as done as Ronaldinho, and Barca didn't want him. Then he went and had 6 good months, scoring a lot of goals, but then in the last six months he has been terrible again. Hmmm, which Milan player with long curly hair does that sound like??
Sure he scored 22 goals, but he did that playing at the best team in the world at the moment. Barcelona usually had 70% + possession where 80% of that was on the other teams half. It wasn't unusual for him to miss 3-4 HUGE chances per game. He's not really that involved in the play either, but unlike someone like Pippo he doesn't really know how to move and he's not good in the box. As a matter of fact, I'm absolutly certain had Pippo played in Barca instead of Eto'o he would've easily scored 40+ goals.
Do you really think that Eto'o could work in Inter? Right now everything comes through Zlatan, he is the playmaker, the target man and the goalscorer, Eto'o is non of that.
Eto'o + 10M.... worst deal since Quaresma.
I don't know how Coloccini played the last few years, but he is available ... he could go to Marseille for 2-3M. It's an example of good defender I think, who knows Milan as he already came (and failed) here, but that could be some kind of valid backup for the team (and what a low price) ?
Then, I think if we want a Real Madrid player, the fact that both teams are sponsored by Adidas will help us to get any player from their team if he is individually sponsored by Adidas too (it looks like Adidas played some kind of role too in the deal for Kaka', they made it easier), and the fact that Galliani and Perez are friends and that we already sold them Kaka' can also make it even more easy to get any interesting player from their team ... now, the question is, who can we get who could be useful in Milan ? I'm in trouble to reply this question !!
Let's say that this crisis can't help the clubs to recover if they had a debt before the start of this enonomical crisis ...
geo if you read my next posts after that, you ll understand what i mean,im saying that football clubs cant consider themselves affected by economical crisis compared to those who really are..
and no we have selled preety much the same produsts as we did,and the tickets have been sold as expected, just read my following posts to that,so as to not repeat myself..
as for the bolded part,it may be right it makes sence, but we cant say sth being sure..

Also Maicon wants to leave Inter: transfermarketweb.com (http://transfermarketweb.com/?action=read&idsel=37102)
Did you write about Eto'o ?!
Eto'o moves a lot, he asks for the ball even in midfield, he goes on the right, on the left, and he has good goalscoring abilities + he is physically good (not a monster). He is a totally different kind of striker than Ibrahimovic or Inzaghi.
Eto'o in Inter means Mourinho will have to change his formation because of course, Eto'o can't have the same role than Ibrahimovic, but Eto'o can score more than Ibrahimovic and be as important as him.
Actually, we should just try to hijack this possible deal (Inter stated there was no deal at all actually) because Eto'o, now Kaka' is gone, could be a very useful player for us as he can go on the right ... that could be some kind of Barcelona attack with something like
--------- Pato -----------
--- R80 --------- Eto'o --- (not wingers)
=========
My Christmas list if we want Italian players:
- Cassano (I'm not a fan but his agent makes him being available ... even if I read exactly the contrary one or two days ago, Cassano himself saying he wants to stay in Sampdoria)
- G.Rossi as some of you say he could be available (but Villareal won't want to sell him I think)
- Montolivo as even if he isn't a top player yet, he is a creative midfielder and can improve, that would bring some fresh blood in the team and some more competition in midfield
- Santacroce or Criscito as they could be both possible purchases I think if the price is right
I don't know if it would be enough, but it would be a good step forward to have a younger Milan and preparing the team for the possible new 6+5 rule in near future (of course, we have to bring all the other players) ...

i have a MA in human resource and business management economics may not be my prime subject but geo tav you must know as well as i do that 70% of stadium receipts come from season ticket holders. of course Milan will affected by the crisis but by a minuscule amount maybe 5 million at the most. The only time the numbers every really have fluctuated was after the calciopoli scandal, at most merchandising and stadium receipts make up 40% of Milan income. Italy has been a economic recession for over 20 years nothing has changed apart from there being a higher chance of the EU denying Italy a new loan. The strongest affect on Milan finances will come from the finivest having smaller profit margins compared to last June revenue. Football fans tend to be reluctant to give up a enjoying activity like football unless it absolutely necessary for god sake some of the curva sud spend every penny they have on Milan products and games. The sponsorship deal is fixed until 2013 and the broadcasting rights until 2012. You are right in saying Milan potiential growth is severally limited and that we are less likely to get any new investment from our holding company. Even in the 80s with the recession in full flow Liverpool were able to fill a stadium on a regular basis, even with this current recession severally hitting England football attendances are actually up.

Cassano jabber on Gazzetta:
http://www.gazzetta.it/Calcio/Calciomercato/10-06-2009/mercato-tempo-reale-50511816544.shtml
I have a feeling our team might look something like this... Thats a big if they will spend....
-------------abbiati
thiago---nesta---mexes/santa---zambro
--------Pirlo-------flamini
-----Abate---Ronaldinho-----Pato
--------------dzeko
I think Gattuso has to be in there. I think Rami and Zapata are also possibilities for central defense additions. Oddo is also a possibility for right back if he returns.
I'm not seeing the Abate thing. I have to think Milan will splash some cash on an attacking midfielder. It seems Madrid is eager to offload some of its Dutch players, so I would think it's possible that Sneijder or even possibly Van der Vaart could be a target. There's always the possibility that during the Kaka negotiations the parties agreed to talk further about one or more of those players (possibly depending on whether or not Madrid gets Ronaldo or whoever).
geo tav you must know as well as i do that 70% of stadium receipts come from season ticket holders.
No, I don't know the amounts and percentages as I didn't study Milan finances (and any football club, I just tried to think about what they can lose because of the crisis) !! ^^
I even don't know how many season tickets we sold this season, I just know the stadium has a regular basis around 60000 spectators, I may be even wrong there.
Actually, what I said is pure theory, real numbers could just show how wrong I was ... :D

Eto'o + 10M.... worst deal since Quaresma.
Eto'o scored 34 goals this season and also did a lot of the work that allowed Messi the space and freedom to play.
It's what I got from a French website (L'Equipe) about statistics of Eto'o:
2004-2005: 37 games played, 24 goals - C1: 7 games played, 4 goals
2005-2006: 34 games played, 26 goals - C1: 11 games played, 6 goals
2006-2007: 19 games played, 11 goals - C1: 3 games played, 1 goal
2007-2008: 18 games played, 16 goals - C1: 7 games played, 1 goal
2008-2009: 36 games played, 30 goals - C1: 12 games played, 6 goals
I think his ratio in Barcelona speaks for itself ...
You are right......I've also read that our average attendance was around 61,000 this year. However, I don't know how many of those are season tickets.....if I had to take a guess, it would be somewhere around 40,000.
Interesting enough, only a few other teams in Europe have had higher attendance then us. In England it is only Man.U while Arsenal is second with 60,000 so we would be in 2nd place in England in that aspect (or share it with Arsenal). Barcelona and Real have more attendance then us in Spain while there is 2 or 3 teams in Germany that are also above us with Borussia Dortmund being one of them for sure.
That doesn't mean that we make more money on tickets then Liverpool for example......because their stadium is always full (even though it is half the size of the San Siro)........So regularly full stadium means higher demand for tickets....meaning ticket prices go up.
i have a feeling that this move ibra=etoo+10 wont be the best for anyone..i dont know if ibra can adjust to a whole different style of play, and a tottally differnt role from what he has all this years(in juve too)..
etoo may be one of the best fc in the world too,all these years but inter is for sure the wrong team for him,its a tottally untalented(offensively) squad that plays really awful football, excactly the opposite to barca's..
im really very curious to see what happens if this move goes through..

Eto'o did score alot of goals, but most of them came in the first half of the season anyways. All I'm saying is that it's alot easier to play in a team that's working, than one that isn't. Ibrahimovic is the only one in Inter that can create anything, and he did. I don't know which Eto'o you guys have been watching, but he's NOT good in the box, which is probably way Guardiola played him on the wing at the end off the season, he was missing so many chances it was getting rediculess.
There's just no way Eto'o is 'only' 10M euro's better than Zlatan. They're the same age, but Zlatan is easily worth two Eto'o's.

10-06-2009, 13:31
zlatan is a striker that only scores 24 a season and is terrible in the champions league he isn't worth more than 50 million euros at the most. If you buy a striker like ibrahimovic you would want a large of assist, do barcelona really need that kind of player with messi inesta and xavi in the team plus dani alves. the difference is ibra worth 90 million to inter but just 10 plus eto for barcelona. Any way it doesn't affect Milan i can't think Serie a would suffer if ibra left, he hasn't got any of the style and persona of kaka who really was Serie a most recognisable player. for me if inter lose ibra fantastic it makes them less potent but if they keep him it is up to Milan to buy the players needed to make us successful over inter.

I think I heard someone mention somewhere that our stadium isn't actually ours, and most of the money we get from ticket receipts actually goes to paying the rent.
That said, I don't think we should go for Eto'o. We can't afford to buy him and also reinforce our squad enough to mount a challenge on all fronts. We need someone of similar characteristics, but not the hype yet. Where we can find someone like that, you guys tell me, I haven't been scouting for talent much in the past couple of months.
Yes, that's true. The stadium is owned by the city and both Milan and Inter pay to use the stadium. I don't know if the fee is in any way linked to the amount of tickets we sell and then negotiated each year( I can't imagine that it would be but you never know). I have also read on many places that Milan and Inter have to also take care for much of the maintenance of the field as well.......as it gets really destroyed during the winter time.

Hopefully, we have concluded our signings back then. Right now it is the same old same old. We are after a player-->it's close-->then silence.
We need to move quickly both to placate (to some degree) the fans and give Leonardo his team on July 6.

For sure, Coloccini is not a name i'm looking to hear after selling Kaka. I'm looking to hear Mexes or Santacroce. Something to that extent, maybe even better. But for sure, no more bargain players.
Looks like Milan is the only club that immediately bends over when the almighty Real Merda orders a transfer. I am proud of Man United, Liverpool and Bayern. I don't know how it eventually will turn out, but at least they decide for now, not to make it too easy for Real Merda.

Definately sell Pirlo if we can get 20 m+ at this stage he's so slow he turns like a bus. Im just holding out hope that wee'll at least try and sign players I mean if we end up with Luca Toni , Deco and Gallas Il be crest fallen.
We dont need to get a direct replacement for Kaka but spend wisely a striker 2 midfielders and 2 defenders, I like Kjaer with Palermo although Zamperini will probably want 300 m euro for him.
Milan MGT please please just add to the squad 4/5 quality players we need it ye need it no players no winning no revenue its not rocket science Silvio and Uncle Fester.

I have a terrible feeling that your worst case Luca Toni/Deco/Gallas scenario might come true. But if we get a great attacker (eg. Dzeko), a great creative midfielder (eg. Sneijder) and a great defender (eg. Santacroce), I think we have made a crucial first step to rebuilding our team.

This article is about Seedorf, who's he kidding? Ancelotti really wants him at Chelsea? He wouldn't make the subs bench, they already have Lampard, Ballack, Deco, Mikel, Essien, Cole through the middle. Obviously he is happy here, he gets paid $hitloads to walk around a green lawn 90 minutes every week. Only in Milan is this $hit possible. Players should realise when they are past it and retire with grace.

Most likely Pato and Ronaldinho will be regular fixtures next season, so only one more top forward is realistic, methinks.
Again I must say our defence is the main problem, and two new defenders are needed: 1) a proven centre back so that we're not too dependant on Nesta's health and Thiago's adaption to Italian football; and 2) a full back to replace Janku, who's not good enough to be a first choice defender for us.
If Pirlo goes to Chelsea and the money we get is the reported fee of around 25mil Euro.......then we should really assault Roma for Aquilani or De Rossi. :uhm: I know Aquilani just signed a new contract but contracts don't mean much these days. Plus that, we have a good relationship with Sensi and she needs money. Interesting news from milannews.it (http://www.milannews.it/?action=read&idnotizia=8097)
It looks like Lega Calcio are gonna chance the rules so that teams would be allowed to buy 3 non-eu players per season instead of 2. The reason for this is, as far as I can't understand, an attempt for serie a to become more competitive in Europe.
Here's the translated text, from googletranslator:
On the day of tomorrow, you could register a new era for Italian football. Indeed, to counter the Spanish Liga and moderate prices of players with Passport, Laga Football is going to bring into question a new standard. The reason for comparison, will be able to pass 3 players outside the front but a three divestitures. On 3 July 2008, had agreed to 2 extra cards in the face of many supplies, now seems to be directed to extend some of the royalties. This proposal will certainly heated debates, but should lead to equal the Liga (as standards) and a bit quiet the prices of those foreign players, provided the status of "Community". This change of course, benefit the Milan which then could pass an additional extra, dissolving any delay on Hernanes-Dzeko duo, as both now could not be bought, compared to the old standard.
The translation is not very good, so perhaps someone that knows Italian could tell if that's what they're talking about.

the city may own the san siro but the fee paid to the city is less than 3 millions euros according to certain sources. The issue how stadiums earn through corporate facilities food retail merchandise retail charity events sponsors more affiliate consumers, efficiency saving. It pretty simple and breaks down like this emirates revenue per year 130 million euros, old trafford 120 million euros pa, alliance arena 125 million euros pa you begin to get the picture even renovated stadiums get a new economic lease of life like the El Bernabéu earning a average of 80 millions pa. back in 1992 the san siro would earn 116,176,200,000 pa lira the equivalent of 60 million euros result based on the recent update of the San Siro. this situation needs to be resolved if Milan do sell a stake in the company to the Arabian consortium the cash should be use either to update the san siro and buy from the city or build a new stadium. if Milan were invest 100 million into updating the san siro it would produce a average of 50 million euros of stadium revenue pa, now if milan were to spend that money on a new stadium if would probably produce 65,000 euros pa. the question is what is better for Milan stick by our value and traditions and rebuild the san siro inside out or go for a long term option and build a stadium which will last the next 50 years and will earn Milan 90 million upwards pa

De Rossi wont ever sign for milan, he loves Roma and is one of their key players, he'll stay just like totti. Also Aquilani is almost impossible i think, Roma would ask a ridiculous amount of money for him as he will be a key player for them in the future.
but there's also Cigarini and D'Agostino, why cant galliani and co look in serie a (italian) talent! we're only linked with foreigners. I remember galliani stating he was so proud we had so many italians in our team and taht inter had none. well this could change quickly as we have 0 young talented italian players... thats sad for a team like milan.
Thats why I really want signings like Marchetti, Santacroce, De Silvestri, Cigarini, D'Agostino, G.ROSSI!!!, Cassano, Bocchetti, Foggia... just to name a few.

Real Madrid are after David Villa, but Valencia president says their bid is too low.
Why don't we bid for him. Villa is definitely worth it. If the Dzeko doesn't work out, why don't we put 40 million on the table?
But I have a feeling he won't leave Spain.
I rarely say this, but we need a BIG signing this summer. The players are not impressed right now.

I personally do not believe for a second all this crap about the economic crisis affecting the club. For one thing, the global economic atmosphere is bad all around the world right now, which means every club should be effected by it, not just Milan. If every other club found a way to live with it, then why does Milan have to sell its best player to balance the books? If Berlusconi has some level of dignity left, he'd just come out and tell everyone the truth that Milan simply isn't interested in competing at the highest level any more and wants to be a mid table team from now on. As much as it would hurt, Milan fans will live through it.
In the extremely unlikey event that this team is still looking to start a new cycle back to the top, I think there are two names up front they have to consider, Aguero and Benzema. To me, this is the perfect opportunity to sign both of these players as neither one of them has had that terrific of a season. Their subpar performance gives teams the opportunity to buy low. Let's face it, as nice as Dzeko might be, Benzema is the one with the superstar potential and Aguero is a talent on the same level as Pato. With Benzema up front, we can play Pato and Aguero behind him as supporting strikers and leave Ronaldinho on the bench until he gets in shape. Now that is an attacking trio that is capable of replacing Kaka and Gourcuff's departures. If we miss out on these two players this time, there might not be another chance to sign them for an even remotely reasonable fee for the next 10-15 years if ever.
Filipez, I know De Rossi will probably not leave. It was just a dream as I said. However having said that, you never know. Nesta left Lazio because Lazio was on the verge of bankrupt. I know Roma's situation is not as bad as a club, but their parent company 'Italpetroli' is. Rosella can not reinforce their squad the way it needs to be done and they will soon fight for 4th place and pray that they make it in the CL so they can turn over a bigger amount of money. This year they missed out on it and it'll hurt them bad. I can imagine that their situation will be twice as bad next year if they miss out on it again, as meanwhile teams like Fiorentina are investing and getting better. Also, without the finances they don't look like they will challenge for much in the future unless Sensi sells the club. Aquilani is a different case in my opinion. He was going to leave this summer if Roma didn't offer him a new deal I think.
About D'Agostino. A couple of months ago I brought it up and said that he was one of the best CM in Italy this season. He was the reason of Udinese's success in the first half of the season and pulled all the strings in their midfield (even though he got a lot of help from Inler/Isla). We should have acted on that much sooner, but now he seems gone to Juve.
Cigarini is great too......but he also, has gone to Napoli.
Unfortunately we were late in both cases and they are both great players. I would be ecstatic if we hijack Juve's deal for D'Agostino now. He'll be a great lift for our midfield next year.
This may sound a little nuts, but just throwing it out there.
Well, I'm a big Villa fan (the player, not the club), but I can think of a few reasons why he's not the ideal signing for us:
1) He's too similar to Pato, if we're gonna sign another striker (as it seems we are) it would make sense to go for someone like Dzeko. Pato+Villa (+Dinho) could be beautiful, though.
2) He'd be really expensive, and we need to spend money on several positions this summer which probably means that we aren't going to sign superstars.
3) As you said, he definately prefers to play in Spain, so Barca and Madrid are the likely takers for him. A shame that he can't remain at Valencia (due to their crisis, which - unlike ours - is for real), as the duopoly in Spain will strengthen.
(The last one isn't really a reason why shouldn't sign him, but a reason why we won't)

A brilliant player. One of my favorites. But you're right that he wants to remain in Spain. I was just reading today that Chelsea made a higher bid and offered a bigger salary than Real Madrid, but that he's said he doesn't want to leave Spain (if you can believe the European football media -- which I don't -- but in this case I think what they say about his preference is true).
I also don't think it would be wise to spend most of what Milan got for Kaka on one player. What, then, would have been the point of selling him? Reportedly (grain of salt time again) Chelsea offered Ģ38million for him. Even if he would come, that's too much to pay for one player.
I think it's better to take this as an opportunity to re-energize an aging squad with several young, dynamic players who can be the future of Milan. Dzeko would be a great start (although I would hope he could come a little cheaper than the news reports).

I don't think we should get David Villa, or any Spanish player for that matter.
It seems that very rarely do players from Spain and Italy change clubs, and they usually fail to live up to the hype when they make the switch.
I think we should all get over the fact that Ronaldinho will be the star of Milan next season. It seems that is quite assured, it seems that Dinho knows this to be true and it seems that Leonardo doesn't have the strength or confidence to set his own agenda.
I think the team is going to look like this:
---------------Abbiati/Dida
--Oddo--Nesta/Bonera--Thiago--Zambro
----------Gattuso---Pirlo----Flamini
--------------------Dinho
----------Dzeko-------------Pato
If you think about it, a midfield three of Gattuso, Pirlo and Flamini/Ambro is the only way that you can accommodate players like Pato and Dinho, who have a rather poor defensive work-rate. I'm not sure about Dzeko, but, the reason why Barca's system works is that Henry, Eto'o and Messi are running to recover the ball once they lose it.
I'm scared nothing will happen to our center, Bonera and Kaladze will cover Nesta and Thiago, while I get this feeling that Favalli will stay. Or am I wrong about Favalli staying?
I hope the new rules will be introduced in this season. This is probably the reason why Milan are chasing Dzeko although actually Milan need a creative midfielder than a striker?
Dzeko+Hernanes could be great signings for Milan including Thiago Silva and one very good CB (I hope). If we sell Pirlo, we should buy Fabregas since the money should be actually avaialable except the management use the money for paying the debt which is not a smart move IMO (solving a problem with the easiest way without preventing the bad effects in the coming years/future, a sinking Milan).

Yes it would be great for Milan. It looks like Galliani's work if I've ever seen it. Would love to get someone who knows Italian to comment it though, because as far as I understand it should be passed as soon as tomorrow?
And the best strikers go like this:
Zlatan; Villa; Torres...
Behind Pato, and Superpippo.
I find this one quite funny...yet at the same time if Berlusconi and Uncle Fester thought they could get away with it, I wouldn't put it past them. :D
Samuel Eto’o Could Leave Barcelona For Milan For Free In 2010 - Report
The Italian and Spanish press agree that ‘Samu’ could head to the San Siro next year on a free transfer…
11 Jun 2009 00:42:57
AC Milan appear to have clearly outlined their plan to sign Samuel Eto’o from Barcelona without having to cough up a single Euro to the Catalans.
Sportmediaset.it has reported that the Rossoneri have already made their proposal to recruit the Cameroonian striker in 2010 when his contract runs out with the Blaugrana. And the player’s advisor, Josep Maria Mesalles has been informed of this deal after he was contacted by FIFA agent, Ernesto Bronzetti.
Barcelona-based Sport believes that the transaction will go through, as they speculate that Eto’o’s refusal to be transferred out at present is due largely to the offer tabled by the Milanese outfit.
Despite netting a handsome €64.5 million from Real Madrid for Kaka, Milan president, Silvio Berlusconi is reluctant to splash the cash straight away as he looks to stabilise the club’s financial status first. And it is possible that Eto’o could be offered the staggering contract he demands if he can be purchased for free.
It has also been reported that Milan could go for Luca Toni instead this season while they wait for Samu’s arrival next year.

That's a deal born of fantasy as you're basically valuing Sneijder & Robben at Ģ10 million seeing as we sold Kaka for Ģ60 million at most.
So it would never happen.
Ģ30 million plus those two would have been a more likely scenario.
The point is cash+players.

Even Totti admitted that he thought hard about leaving some years ago, because he wanted to win something and content the Ballon D'or. There isn't a doubt that De Rossi will be tempted too if Roma keep disappointing and Rosella keeps getting further in debt. Is he going to be able to beat the temptations?

The funny thing is that for the past two years we kept hearing Roma will go bankrupt....and yet they have not sell any of its top players, De Rossi, Aqualaini, Mexes, Totti, Juan...yet they actually went out and bought and overpaid for Riise, Menez and Baptista.

I'm doubtful on this. Why would Eto'o risk coming to play for a team that may not even be in the CL next year. Kaka left, Gorky left, Maldini retired. Pirlo and Pato are on the bubble.
Don't tell me he's coming to play with our greats, Slowdorf and Dida.
Besides, I would think Barca would want to get some return and sell him before this happens.

WOLVES: DZEKO NOT FOR SALE
Wolfsburg have no intention of selling star striker Edin Dzeko, despite AC Milan's interest.
The Rossoneri have already held talks with the Bundesliga club, but even if they were keen on investing some of the money they earned from selling Kaka to Real Madrid this week, the Wolves would turn them down.
"Dzeko is not for sale," said Wolfsburg general manager Jurgen Marbach in Kicker magazine.
"We have had contact with AC Milan, but did not talk about money.
"Our opinion remains the same: There are contracts and they will be respected."
Dzeko led Wolfsburg's charge to the Bundesliga title last season with his 26 goals making him the league's second highest scorer behind his team-mate Grafite.
That record has earned the 23-year-old many fans throughout Europe with sides in England also believed to be interested in the Bosnia-Herzegovina international, who joined the Wolves from FK Teplice in 2007.
His contract with the Bundesliga side runs until 2011.
Dezko may not come.......

Well, there is Tevez. Last I check, he is a free agent, right? Or had he signed with Man City already.
Mind you that, when Milan were at its best during 2002-2005, the team did not have a target man, and yet, they were argubly the best team in Europe and in Italy.
Imagine a great passing game of Tevez, Pato and Dinho, it could break any defense in Europe.

I don't think he's worth anything near that to be honest, and Milan would be foolish to pay that price.
I know this is about Milan's Summer Mercato, but news this morning is that Man Utd have accepted a Ģ80 million offer for Ronaldo from Real Madrid.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/m/man_utd/8094720.stm
They could be creating something special there or they may implode, I don't see how they can fit all those attacking players on the pitch. It might turn out bad for all parties involved in the transfer, which I pray for, because I hate Real and Man Utd. Thats Ģ24 million more than we got for Kaka btw.
The deal would be GREAT for Man Utd...
CR7 is no where near Kaka, and they are getting 80mil!
I believe Kaka should have been sold at that figure!

Kaka-Snedjer-Diarra-Gago-CR7
Marcelo-Pepe-Garay-Ramos

You know what, I'm worried about this move. We suddenly have another big money transfer. Does anyone but me see it as bad for us? They get 80 Mil for Ronaldo, that means they could potentially outbid us for any player we want to get to strengthen our squad.... and still have spare change in their pockets to buy another one or two youngsters if they felt like it....

We have most powerful defensive midle in the world I'm sure..
It's weird, we are stupid to sell our best player, but no-one says anything about how fast Manchester United sold their best player too (like us) ... they will probably give a reason allowing them to bash Milan and "protect" Manchester United.
Ryo, Manchester United don't need this money to outbid us, but generally, we're not after the same kind of players ...
The problem I can see is if we already pay 30M for Dzeko, what will we pay if we want a player who is a little more established ?
PS: Manchester United loses their most important player, Real Madrid gets two important players but still has no new defender (their defence is a joke, especially with Cannavaro leaving and Heinze who could go back to Paris), the only convenient thing in all these stories is that English clubs will maybe have more difficulties in CL with the come back of a strong Real Madrid (burp), I'd like to say with the come back of a strong Milan too but for moment ... it will be hard for us.

Well, when Milan had Guilt and Van Basten, we did had 2 out of 3 best players in the world. Heck, Milan had 2 of 3 best players in each position in the world except for GK back then.
If Real really get CR7, I don't think they will do well right away, but when you look at their squad, they are all mid 20s. Plenty of time for them to gel and be great.

I think they will be in trouble to play together because they are players who can be decisive but they are not the best "creative" midfielders ... so in the good days, Madrid could be in fire, but in a bad day from one or the other, it could be funny to see how these excellent players will struggle.
The good thing for them is that Ronaldo can play on the right when Kaka' goes on the left ... but enough, let's stop talking of this Real Merda like someone called them !! :D

Actually Real signed Garay last year but loaned him back to his club for one more year. So they do have a new defender already. And with a healthy Diarra(Mali) they should be stronger in defense.

Real Madrid had Zidane, Figo, Ronaldo and Raul at the same time last time Perez was in charge and they did just fine.

I respectfully disagree with your opinion here.
First of all, Man U got over 90 million euros for selling their best player while we got 2/3 of that amount for a player at the same level, which makes us, the moron in this whole thing.
Secondly, Man U will actually use this money to sign a world class replacement or two so they won't even miss Ronaldo's departure (I think it's a sure bet now that Ribery will be wearing Man U jersey soon). Milan, on the other hand, is looking at a striker in Germany and trying to drag the negotiations for the whole summer so they can pocket the rest of the cash. I mean, I even read somewhere (not necessarily reliable) that Milan is looking to strengthen the defense with Gallas. Is that the kind of move that was supposed to start a new cycle as the baldies claimed?
Lastly, I don't think Real Madrid has to worry about their defense too much. It seems to me that Spanish teams like to play attacking football and use their attack to relieve the pressure of the defense. Barcelona is playing the best soccer in the world right now and they don't have one great defender or GK back there. They use their suffocating attack to prevent teams from even starting an attack on their defensive line. Now with Ronaldo and Kaka on board and David Villa on the way, RM can do something very similar with all the talent they have up front.
PS: How exactly did RM get this much money? With Ronaldo, Kaka and the rumored Villa deal, that's almost 200 million euros! While Milan b*tch about losing 70 million euros for one stinking year, they can cough up 200 million? Galliani's tax savings theory does not seem to explain this one well.

Just when I am getting over the Kaka's sale and now CR7 is almost a Real player for 80Mil, Perez must be doing what Seedorf was doing to Carlo to Galli to get a discount price for Kaka.
But Diarra has never played well in Madrid, he has been a joke when you compare him to what he did in Lyon ...
Geo, Diarra has been one of the best Real Merda players in the second half of the season. This guy works real hard.
Their defense is an awesome joke. I don't see anything blatantly wrong with their midfiled and attack especially with Kaka in their ranks.
I guess they are making an extremely stupid mistake signing CR7 for around 80mil euros. Kaka and Mesi could compliment each other well but CR7? He plays his own game for his own sake.
The difference in age could justify the price difference: Kaka' is almost three years older than C. Ronaldo. Thereby Kaka' had some injuries this year and he didn't perfrom that well.
Will be interesting to see how Kaka' will cope with this situation. Because he was already complaining with Milan, that Ronaldinho limited his possibilities.

I think CR7 is the type of player who he must have respect for his manager, if not, he is a lose cannon. But he has respect for his manager and other teammates, ie Kaka. He is awesome and is not afraid of anything. I think his main problem is playing against older defender, as he has the drive to I have to beat them one on one. Thats why he always struggle against older defenders, Oddo a few yrs back and Pugol this year. Now I am not saying Barcelona should buy Favalli now to play against him, but he relies on his strength and speed too much, hopefully he will learn and he will indeed be a great player.
The deal would be GREAT for Man Utd...
CR7 is no where near Kaka, and they are getting 80mil!
I believe Kaka should have been sold at that figure!
You must be joking right? We're all Milan fans and naturally we probably all like Kaka because he played for Milan. Being a Liverpool fan I dislike Man Utd and Ronaldo, but this guy has become a monster player and Kaka can't even touch what he has done last two years, whether he plays well in big games or not. Don't be mistaken I've always rated Kaka no.1 player in the world in recent years, but I think Messi and Ronaldo have overtaken him now.

No. Kaka' is three years older and less marketable. Ronaldo is at the peak of his powers, while Kaka', let's face it, is not enjoying the best of form.

This may be true to an extent, though it still remains to be seen. Ribery does not want to go the Prem and Bayern do not want to sell (they're not playing hardball--they want to keep him).
----
In conclusion, what these two transfers have shown is that Man U can be bullied just like Milan were. I refuse to believe that Man U's rather onerous debt has nothing to do with this move. It grows every year, and while they could have a transfer fund of 80 million sterling a year, they only see 20% of that because of payments. Hence, they probably thought they could use the C. Ronaldo money to buy players.
From soccernet: "His old team, meanwhile, seemingly have Ģ80m to spend. That’s if it’s not spent on the club’s ever spiralling debt mountain, a legacy of the Glazer regime for whom Ronaldo delivered on-field success and now a pile of hard cash."
Football is in trouble, and we have to realize that Real are financing these moves through loans. Regardless of the Spanish banks' largesse, this could have repercussions in the future.
The reason Real have paid 80 million (talking to my Spanish friends) is because Calderon had an agreement in place for that much. For sure I would have liked about 10 million sterling more from Real for Kaka', but I don't think the difference is that rankling.
Milan and Man U were both more successful than Real this decade (Milan and Man U have both done extremely well in Europe, with Milan winning two CLs in Europe and Man U reaching two finals, winning one), but it is the Spanish giants who are still the biggest club in the world.

All depends on which Diarra you speak about ... if Lassana, I agree, he is a hard worker and was one of their best midfielders. If you speak about Mahmadou, he is seriously a joke in Real and if I'm not wrong, he has been injured this season.

I would not use the word being bullied, when someone is paying 80Mil for one of your players(who claims he wants to leave and try new things).
On top of that, we still have not see Fergie or Glazers coming out and say that we must sell Ronaldo in order to pay our debts.......
People, let's get one thing straight:
The only reason we would get Hernanes is to replace Pirlo. If Pirlo stays, no Hernanes.
Also, why are people assuming Thiago Silva would play on the wings? He's a central defender, not a wing back. Even though he's probably a lot better than Bonera, he's no full back; especially not the kind Leo wants. The only way we buy a great CB is if Nesta can't be depended on.

Madrid are crazy how exactly to you fit ronaldo and kaka in a team without playing one of them of position plus they plan to buy Villa and maybe xavi alonso. this is definitely not good for Milan transfer objectives, we will end up buying our no players in August at this rate, there are some crazy transfer prices out there at the moment. Milan only immediate transfer objective is Dzeko as for selling players like kaladze and dida well they will emergency buys at the end of the summer transfer window. We will have to wait until the dust settles hopefully real will finish this spending splurge soon and let the clubs return to a normal transfer market
So, do you guys think it would be a good idea now to sell Pirlo, Pato and all the players we could get some descent money from and try to rebuild the squad completely or would it be better to keep our current squad with just one or two extra signings added?

On Man U website, they just wrote a "breaking transfer record news" :D saying they accepted the deal after the player claimed to be sold ...
It's not by selling players that Manchester United will be able to cover their debt ... it's too high !!

Starting everything from the start is not a good thing ...
We should build around this "axe" (any sense in english ?):
Thiago Silva => Flamini => Pato
(if Thiago Silva is as good as expected)

I would agree on this one but the thing that frightens me are Berlu's blurbs about just covering the debt with Kaka's money so it would seem that now we're balanced but other big transfers are not likely.....

Kaka might be three years older, but he is still reaching his prime, so the age difference really shouldnt be that much of a factor. Can't argue with the more marketable part as Ronaldo is the much more popular player for younger soccer fans. I don't disagree with the fact that Ronaldo should cost more, but the fact that he cost almost 150% of Kaka is absolutely riduculous, don't you think?
I only used Ribery as an example of sort as he seems to be the most feasible direct replacement for Ronaldo. Even though he said he would like to move to Spain, I doubt Barcelona or RM has any room for him in their midfield. Since he isn't exactly enjoying his stay in Germany all that much, I don't see why he couldn't make a switch to Man U for a new challenge. If the player really wants to leave, there really isn't a whole lot Bayern can do about it. Not to mention they are also spending a lot of money in the mercato and could be looking to cash in on Ribery to recoup some of that money. Of course, the excellent player development system Man U has could also mean that a young guy like Benzema or Aguero could be brought in as the replacement. The key here is that Ferguson is not going to be bullied around by his bosses and accept losing his best player for nothing. He is going to get a monster amount of cash to spend and he is going to make the best out of it. That is, unfortunately, something that I cannot say about Milan.
I have read before that Fiorentino Perez is a very calculated business man even as the president of a soccer club. For every mega star player he brings in, he always conducts a research to see if the cost of signing him would be higher than the financial benefits the player brings in. As ridiculous as it might seem to a lot of us that they spent so much money in one summer, they could very well make that money back in a couple of years. That means, RM might be better off with these deals being made while the rest of the world will have to suffer from them because of inflation of player prices and salary as well as the inability to compete financially with a marketing juggernaut like RM.
That member is Mr. Fret. I thought it won't be good to quote a great idea like that without the name of the genius who posted it :grinser:
Try to read between the lines my friend and don't take everything so literally :grinser:

the biggest reason why Ronaldo cost more that kaka is ronaldo ability to sell t-shirts and gain sponsorship deals. Kaka brand is very large but you have to admit with ronaldo coverage around the world due to the arrogant English press he has a higher profile. Kaka may not be at his best but he has a arrays of attributes that far out weigh ronaldo skills and talent. Beside when kaka plays well he makes ronaldo look like a ten year boy remember when kaka ripped apart Manchester united and ronaldo just whimpered out of the game. In addition you are buying from a country with a stronger currency value I don't think Man u would have accepted a 80 million euro bid roughly 68 million pounds.

or: axis...
and by the way, CR7's price is not 150% of Kaka's... that would be 65x150% = almost 100M euros.
Plenty of time for them to gel and be great.
well it's different when their positions do not conflict each other. Kaka and Ronaldo both need the ball to flourish. Gullit was the anchor for the AM and Basten was the goal getter. Different dynamics then 2 midfielders.Plus Ronaldo is not the most conventional winger. He loves to attack the middle too.
It could work(Zidane and Figo produced winners), but I pray that it doesn't. It would be awesome if Milan meet Madrid in the CL.
Pirlo seems to be on his way out of Milan but his ideal replacement would have been Cigarini. He has gone to Napoli. Pirlo's worth 20million pounds. With that money, Milan can get Galloppa, Dessena and Hernanes.
I don't know why Milan just ignore Santacroce when he's like the best italian defender in Serie A. Players like Kaladze and jankulovski should leave as well

Again I just dont really understand the milan management...cause obviously the way the kaka transfer happened it was planned and i dunno about the rest of you but the fact that the bald bast**d went to madrid instead of letting them come to us is more upsetting then anything else cause it just makes us look even more pathetic then we already do and then perez's claim that madrid fans must thank said bald bast**d..is he angling for a new job in madrid or something..? but unfortunately from the last 3 years he's not capable of managing a top serie b team let alone a major power which unfortunately we are not anymore and madrid have to prove they are again and they are at least making every effort to do so and im not saying its def gonna work but it has a much greater chance then our current non existent plans...
and the 2nd most upsetting thing is seeing as its planned our great management couldnt even use a quarter of their brains to come up with plans on how to strengthen the squad once he was gone...now they sitting around trying to play hard ball with wolfsburg over dzeko which should've been finalized before the sale and again they not money hungry ***s and at worst wont sell him till they find a replacement unlike our brilliant management..i personally think we not gonna get anyone of any stature cause 1stly we wont spend the money needed to do that and 2ndly the sale of kaka has hit our image hard and i really dont think we a very attractive destination for many players anymore...
The person i feel most sorry for even more than us the fans is leo cause he's putting his reputation on the line on being able to build a competitive milan team but the management seem to be doing everything in their power to stop him from doing so..
and unfortunately i like many others here blamed carlo for our old squad and lack of investment and foresight into younger players but now its only too obvious that it was managements failure to back him in the market that has led us here..and i was also probably 1 of the biggest seedorf bashes over the last year and now realise with pirlo's and gattuso's failure to rule out moves to chelsea that the only true rossaneri left in this team is seedorf and although i might still think the man has not played to the levels we need him to or if he is still capable of doing so i will respect his love for this team and his refusal to even acknowledge that there is anywhere else for him besides milan..
and 1 last word on the kaka affair and and i really dont think he angled for the move and was rather given the green light to leave and i think the management helped make up his mind for him and as much as it hurts for me to say i understand once management wants to sell you and he might've noticed what many of us here have noticed that management is not gonna invest the way we need them too...it hurts the he's left but its just a symptom of the real problem we have here and not the cause..
The term used in English is the "spine" of the team
Or you might call it the "axis," which might be the word he was looking for.
Anyway, I expected the Ronaldo thing to happen quickly because he's obviously been positioning himself for a move. Not really a problem for United though. They have a good enough team to win anything even without him (especially if they now keep Tevez). They're in a better position than Milan because the core of the squad is younger.
Milan is in a good position to rebuild though. There are many young, dynamic players out there who can be purchased and worked into the lineup while veterans such as Gattuso, Zambrotta, Ronaldinho, Nesta (if healthy), Ambro and Pirlo (if he stays) lend experience, leadership and serve as mentors. My hopes for how this will turn out are actually very high.
As for Madrid, will they be petitioning FIFA to allow three or four or five balls to be used at the same time? They already have a squad filled with players who are accustomed to being the center of attention. Now they add Ronaldo and Kaka? Villa probably next? Yeah, that's really going to work out. :D
Starting everything from the start is not a good thing ...
We should build around this "axe" (any sense in english ?):
Thiago Silva => Flamini => Pato
(if Thiago Silva is as good as expected)
I really dont see Flamini as one of the key players. He is a hard worker, without much needed creative spark. Can not picture him a backbone part of the squad. His former teammate from Arsenal is the right choice. Or someone more attainable like Inler, Biglia, etc.
..and i was also probably 1 of the biggest seedorf bashes over the last year and now realise with pirlo's and gattuso's failure to rule out moves to chelsea that the only true rossaneri left in this team is seedorf and although i might still think the man has not played to the levels we need him to or if he is still capable of doing so i will respect his love for this team and his refusal to even acknowledge that there is anywhere else for him besides milan..
I think Seedorf would leave this sinking ship if he could get the chance in a heartbeat.
It's just that nobody wants him and no one would pay him as much as MIlan does.
When you look at things from this angle, you realize that it's very convenient for him to act like a "loyal rossonero".

Well, some of the positive news is we're supposedly after Jovetic of Fiorentina, who's a 19 yr old AM/playmaker. He's an excellent player imo who has a very bright future ahead of him so I'd be happy to get him.
Well, some of the bad news is Jovetic's agent has already dismissed of him going to Milan. Apparently, no one from Milan has said anything and Jovetic is relaxed on holiday and is very happy at Fiorentina.

I was just reading about that (well, sort of...it was in Italian). I think he'd be a great addition. I would imagine there's a good chance it could happen if Milan wants him badly enough. But we'll see.
Now i only fear that Galli's next statement will be: "We were flirting around Dzeko but that was a decoy to take Toni.".

Yeah and the bad thing is, he's also a non-eu player
But he is playing in Serie A, it shouldn't be a problem if you worried about the non-EU spots.
From TMW, Galliani confirmed that 3 of the players arrived at the last mercato will go ... and the winners are: Shevchenko (back to Chelsea), Senderos (back to Arsenal) and Mattioni (back in his club in Brazil ?).
That means Galliani admits himself that our last mercato was a failure ?!
He also said that Pato stays at 100% while the others stay at 99,9%.
We're linked, like some said, with Jovetic, but also Yaya Touré if Pirlo goes (what's the need ?! He is another replica, maybe stronger physically, of Flamini who is a younger replica of Gattuso).
Dzeko affirmed again he wants to come to Milan.
And good news to end this post, Albertazzi is called with the U20 Italian national team ...
From what I can make of this (it's in Italian), Leonardo says that Pato and Pirlo will definitely be staying, that he likes Dzeko a lot and that we have the whole summer (until Aug. 31) to evaluate and make additions to the squad.

Let's hope this Dzeko deal will end soon, because for moment, our sure team is:

this what i think will happen....slowly but surely milan will start from the ground up that means more homegrown players from our system...cheaper players since we almost have 0 debt that mean the cash will go into keep us safe economicly ... financially there is a real big problem Espana Britannia also were hit hard but Italia is much smaller...hopefully i want more Cassano than Dzeko why hes a none EU and Cassano doesnt take a spot with that we can get jovetic the main goal i see with management is...skip rebuilding have no debt and create a younger squad....as far pirlo i hope he can play in a 442 a Italian 433 or 4312 with jovetic and cassano already our team gets super younger my worst fear next season is 1.get blown out in the group stage of the champs league 2.not finish in the top 4 3.not go deep into the season fighting for a scudetto thats all i ask for i wish we could get sneijder madrid doesnt care about him and please no robben, toni, trezeguet id let him slide because hes 6 2 lol and was always on the bench and please please get maxwell! please please no more jaku and people your right seedorf looks so loyal now...i respect that man (no homo)

Well, I think Leonardo was just trying to urge everyone to be patient. Fans always want all the transfers done within a week so they know what to expect, but it never works that way.
I would imagine that the Dzeko thing will happen within the next few weeks if it happens at all. The player wants to come to Milan. Milan wants him. Wolfsburg will hold out for as much money as they can get. If they don't come to an agreement in a reasonable time, Milan will move on (while keeping Dzeko in mind for the future).
You can throw Zambrotta into that list of starters as well unless Milan buys two really top quality fullbacks. As for Ambrosini, I think it will depend on what happens in the summer mercato. Obviously he's going to play a significant amount of time, but whether or not it's more than last year is difficult to say. I'm sure Leonardo has an idea of what he wants to do.

I have been thinking about Sneijder as a possibility as well. It's clear that he no longer has a place at Madrid with Ronaldo and Kaka coming in. There were already rumors of his departure (and even of his being included in the deal for Kaka). I can't imagine that his name didn't come up during the Kaka discussions. So I think it's possible that Madrid was just waiting to see what happened with Ronaldo, Villa, etc., and that some deal could be struck for a portion of the Kaka money. I actually wouldn't mind having both him and Van der Vaart (and VdV's wife, too, of course ;)).

What happened to those who used to say, don't worry, remember how Milan signed Nesta in the last day of summer.....
Well, I really think it will be a good idea to offload Pirlo and any others if the right offers come in. As it looks, even with Dinho playing his best, Seedorf starts to run again and two to three great signings(Dzeko, Santacroce and Maxell/Essien/Hernanes), I still don't see Milan beating the likes of Barcelona, Real or the big 4 of England.
I am not saying starting from ground zero, but if an offer for Pirlo is 30Mil, 20mil for Gattuso, 45mil for Pato, 8mil for Janku. Why not? B/c that way the MGT must spend on new players and at the same time develop youngsters.
Getting Santacroce might be good now, but how about giving a chance to Alberterzzi, since he is suppose to be the next big thing. Guys like De Gennerao, Abate and Polashi might really turns out to be the next generation of Neved, Figo and Pippo.
THen there are players like Cardacio and Mattioni, I actually seen Cardacio in action and he is pretty solid, very much like Gago.

Not trying to burst your hope or anything, but I am 100% sure Berlu wants a straight cash deal.
Beside with CR7 going to Real, I think one if not two of VDV or Sneijder or Robben will go the other way.

Oh, I absolutely agree with you. If Chelsea are willing to pay the price quoted (or anything close to it) for Pirlo, then I would definitely sell him. He hasn't been the same player the past couple of years. And as much as I love Gattuso, if the price were right, sure, it would just be good business. The one I'd really hate to see go would be Pato, but if Chelsea were willing to pay the 42-45 million pound figures that are being reported, that's just crazy money for a 19-year-old kid who might have all the talent in the world but still is far from being a finished product.
This absolutely has to be the start of a huge rebuilding process. Milan can't sell Kaka and just pretty much stand pat with the older players while bringing in one or two guys. They have to think of this as an opportunity.

It was a straight cash deal. But that doesn't preclude Milan from turning around and buying one of those players later in the summer once Madrid is certain they'll be available. I'm not saying this is going to happen, so there was no bubble to burst. But it is a possibility. Milan could just as easily spend the money there as anywhere else and since those players have become at least somewhat surplus to requirements, they might be easier to get.
Also, I'll be absolutely shocked if either of those players goes to Manchester United as part of the Ronaldo deal. United will probably try to keep Tevez and add from Wigan. At least all indications are that this is what United has in mind. These "player-plus-cash" swaps rarely come about anyway.

PS: Giving the captain armband to Ambro means giving him more time as a starter next season ??
No, as club captain he is the main representive of the players at the club, but if he's not good enough for the starting lineup, then he shouldn't play. A bit like Billy Costacurta in his last years at Milan as Vice Captain.

I hope we end up with Sneijder, I am not saying Hernanes is not a good player but I think Sneijder is better.
Player plus cash deal is rare b/c it involves the more contract talks.
