July 20, 09. Still not one significant signings.
Counting down the days till Galli will come out and state that fans should be grateful Milan did not sell Mr. 4-time CL winner....the team is competitive enough....T. Silva is a new signing....Borreillo, Nesta and Kaladze are like new signings as they rarely played last year....Leo will give chances to the young kids(not like he has many other choices)....Milan did made alot of signings-recalling players, and more than any other teams in Europe....WE RULE THE TRANSFER MARKET.....
I just hope I can eat my words by Sept 1, 09
You are a truly a prophet (sarcasm)!
I think you just stole the words right out of Galliani's mouth. noticed that he is being a bit shy at the moment in regards ot the media.... Maybe this time, he really has nothing to talk about!

Italy
The first ten years of the new millennium were certainly mixed with great emotions for the Italy national team. The Azzurri won their fourth World Cup at Germany 2006, the country’s first in 24 years, with Ghana, United States, Czech Republic, Australia, Ukraine, Germany and France dispatched on the path to glory.
Italy came agonizingly close to winning Euro 2000; leading 1-0 in the final against France, Sylvain Wiltord equalised in the fourth minute of injury time, before David Trezeguet blasted home the Golden Goal in extra time. La Nazionale crashed out amidst huge controversy at World Cup 2002 and Euro 2004. Finally, at Euro 2008, an ageing Italy limped through to the quarter finals before losing on penalties in the quarter finals against eventual winners Spain.
Carlo Garganese selects his best Italy XI from the past decade…
Formation: 3-5-2
Gianluigi Buffon (1997- )
After making his Italy debut in the snow of Russia in 1997 at the age of 19, Buffon would have played at Euro 2000 but was ruled out through injury. He has starred at every major international tournament since, and was a major protagonist at the 2006 World Cup conceding just two goals – a freak own goal and contentious penalty – as Italy won the trophy. Buffon is currently just five short of 100 caps, and he will surely be his country’s all-time appearance holder when he retires. With perfect positioning, imperious decision-making, and outstanding pedigree in all departments except on penalties, Buffon may eventually be remembered as the greatest goalkeeper of all time.
Gianluca Zambrotta (1999- )
Debuting in 1999, Zambrotta has been an Italy regular for a decade now. He began his national career as a right midfielder-cum-wingback, a role he occupied at both Euro 2000 and World Cup 2002. In the former he was solid as Italy finished runners-up, although he missed the final after being sent off in the epic semi win over hosts Holland. In Korea-and-Japan, he suffered a serious injury during the notorious second round exit. After switching to full back for his club, he interpreted the same role for his country. Between 2004 and 2006, Zambrotta was arguably the best full back in the world, and he was immense as Italy earned their fourth star in Germany, bombing up and down the right flank, and scoring a long-range effort in the quarter final against Ukraine.
Alessandro Nesta (1996-2006)
Nesta is just another in a long-line of world class Italian centre backs, following on from the likes of Gaetano Scirea, Claudio Gentile, Franco Baresi and Alessandro Costacurta. The Rome-native was certainly the classiest defender of his generation, combining pace, strength, aerial prowess and tactical knowhow, with a magnificent reading of the game and the ability to bring the ball out of defence and instigate attacks. A contender for the best defender of the past 10 years, along with Lilian Thuram and Fabio Cannavaro, Nesta was almost impenetrable at Euro 2000, but he was unlucky with injuries at many of his other major tournaments, including in 2006 when he didn’t play past the third group game. This convinced Nesta to retire from internationals on 78 caps.
Fabio Cannavaro (1997- )
Was there a better centre back partnership during the noughties than Cannavaro and Nesta? The two stoppers go together like a horse and carriage, to quote a line from a certain Frank Sinatra song. The pair complimented each other perfectly, forming the backbone of the Italy defence for four major international tournaments. Cannavaro was at his peak during the 2006 World Cup when he was undoubtedly the player of the tournament, an unbreakable ‘Berlin Wall’ who was the symbol of Italy’s success. Cannavaro had to play without Nesta throughout the entire knockouts, but was so imperious that he even turned Marco Materazzi into a top-class performer. Following the shootout win over France, captain Cannavaro lifted the World Cup on the occasion of his 100th cap, and he has since gone on to reach Paolo Maldini’s games record.
Paolo Maldini (1988-2002)
Having finally retired this summer after an unrivalled 25-year career, Maldini will go down in the history books as one of the greatest players of all time, and certainly the greatest left back. For Italy, Maldini won 126 caps, a number that has just recently been equalled by Cannavaro. The Milan legend played just two tournaments during the noughties before retiring from internationals – Euro 2000 and World Cup 2002. In the former, he played as an unorthodox left wing-back, and came so close to captaining his side to glory. Two years later, Maldini’s Italy career ended on a low, as he was outjumped by Ahn Jung Hwan for the hosts’ winning goal during one of Calcio’s darkest hours. Maldini resisted calls from Marcello Lippi to play at World Cup 2006, and thus missed out on the one big prize that eluded him during his career.
Fabio Grosso (2003- )
A late bloomer, Grosso was still at modest Palermo when the 2006 World Cup arrived, but went on to be the Azzurri’s unlikely hero in Germany. The full back won the hotly-disputed last minute penalty in the second round win over Australia, scored the famous and decisive 118th minute curler in the semi-final epic against hosts Germany, before slotting home the winning spot-kick in the final shootout victory against France. In the proceeding three years, Grosso has been the Italy regular at left back, and has rarely played a bad game, being one of his country’s best performers both at Euro 2008 and the 2009 Confederations Cup.
Andrea Pirlo (2002- )
The best deep-lying playmaker of the decade, it is testament to Pirlo’s outstanding ability that he excelled during a physical, athletic era that did not really suit his style of play. Despite starring for Milan since at least 2002, Pirlo did not actually become an Italy regular until Marcello Lippi took charge, as Giovanni Trapattoni bizarrely preferred Cristiano Zanetti and Simone Perrotta at the ill-fated Euro 2004. Pirlo would be a major protagonist, though, in Germany two years later, scoring Italy’s first goal in the opener against Ghana, and supplying three assists during the tournament, including the one in the final for Marco Materazzi. Also played well at Euro 2008, and many people cite his suspension against Spain as a reason for Italy’s quarter final exit. A masterful passer of the ball, with the ability to create chances and spot through passes that most others did not know existed.
Rino Gattuso (2000- )
The perfect partner for Pirlo for both Milan and Italy, while the former Brescia star was the creator, Gattuso was the destroyer. Ringhio was the pit-bull of the Azzurri midfield, and a crucial element of the 2006 World Cup success, charging around the pitch with fire in his belly, and closing down opponents. Italy have very rarely possessed a British-type bulldog like Gattuso over the years, and he became a real favourite with tifosi due to his never-say-die attitude, grit, and determination to die for the cause. Although his legs have perhaps started to go during the past 18 months, culminating in an under-par Euro 2008, Gattuso’s influence on Italy this decade cannot be underestimated, and he will forever be remembered for his passionate ‘slap’ on Marcello Lippi in the third group game win over Czech Republic in Germany.
Francesco Totti (1998-2006)
The idea that Francesco Totti always disappointed for his country is one of Calcio’s darkest myths. At Euro 2000, the Roma idol was some people’s Player of the Tournament. Totti scored twice, also chipping his famous ‘spoon-kick’ in the semi shootout win over hosts Holland. In the final itself, which Italy lost dramatically, Totti was the undoubted man-of-the-match, executing a genius backheel in the build-up to Marco Delvecchio’s opener. At the 2002 World Cup he provided numerous assists for goals that both stood and were wrongly disallowed before being incorrectly sent off against South Korea. A half-fit Totti still provided more assists than anyone else as Italy won the 2006 World Cup, also executing a crucial last-gasp second round penalty against Australia, although he blotched his copybook by spitting at Denmark’s Christian Poulsen at Euro 2004.
Christian Vieri (1997-2005)
Standing at well over six feet, Vieri combined height and aerial expertise, with a devastating mix of pace, power, and a crushing left foot. During his peak from the late 1990s up until 2003, excluding an injured Ronaldo, Vieri was probably the best striker in the world. A bully of a frontman who scared the living daylights out of defenders, Vieri added four goals at World Cup 2002 to the five he registered four years earlier in France. His career took a downturn after 2004, playing poorly at that year’s Euros, and then missing the 2006 World Cup with injury. Despite this, Italy have never really replaced him, and as we speak there is no world class Azzurri forward in his mould.
Pippo Inzaghi (1997-2007)
The day that Pippo Inzaghi retires will be a sad one for Calcio. SuperPippo may have no skill, technique, strength or blistering pace, but he is a true genius of a penalty box striker. It is debatable if there has ever been an attacker with better movement, anticipation and instincts than Inzaghi (perhaps only Gerd Muller). A prolific goalscorer for every team he has ever played for, even more so when you consider he took no free kicks and few penalties, Inzaghi struck 25 times in just 57 appearances for La Nazionale, fifth in the all-time list. He excelled at Euro 2000, scoring twice. At World Cup 2002 he had a number of strikes wrongly disallowed for non-existent offside positions, while he made just one substitute appearance at Germany 2006 against the Czechs, and of course he scored. A legend.
Buffon
Cannavaro – Nesta – Maldini
Zambrotta Grosso
Gattuso – Pirlo
Totti
Inzaghi – Vieri

Press reports are suggesting that Juventus have targeted Barcelona central defender Martin Caceres, and Old Lady chief executive Jean-Claude Blanc admits the 22-year-old is indeed the right man to bolster their rearguard.
“We are considering the possibility of bringing in Caceres on loan from Barcelona,” Blanc told Tuttosport.
“He is a very good player, he’s young, strong and full of energy. He would be useful to complete our squad.”
Juve have also been strongly linked with a swoop for Lyon and Italy left-back Fabio Grosso in recent weeks.
“I will try and be honest: we are not interested in Grosso,” said the Frenchman.
“I don’t even know how much he would cost, because I have never thought about calling [Lyon president Jean-Michel] Aulas to ask him.
“But he certainly has a price because he has a running contract and is not a free agent like [Fabio] Cannavaro was.
“I don’t think that buying a 32-year-old would be a good investment. I will hold on tight to my [Cristian] Molinaro and [Paolo] De Ceglie.”

We need to know what their activites are as much as our own.... I can't believe you would state something so foolish (no offense intended)!
If you say that, then why have we been eagerly discussing Inter and the Ibra saga? Now you should see your mistake.... We must keep our enemies close!

Which kind of shows how great we once were.... :rone:
IMO the Fabiano chase is over.... Next time we chase someone, we better have the right finances organised or don't go at all.... Its might seem exciting when we are linked wihth everyone, but when a transfer fails over the fuss of 5 million or so, it makes Milan look like a bunch of clowns, and embarrases us supporters!
Just read an article where Cissoko absolutely slammed our club, and it is also mentioned that Fabiano sarcastically thanked our MGT "for taking him for a ride" if you understand the meaning of his comments!
In fact, MGt has taken us all on a short joyride that delivered nothing this transfer season. It would make me feel much better if we chased no one instead of embarrasing ourselves like this to the football world. For Christ sake, we are Milan not some middle table average club! At the moment, our ambitions are sorely greater than our capabilities....

At least Ronaldinho is really stepping up his game and is playing with great enthusiasm and energy, his performance against LA Galaxy was impressive,he gave some great passes to the strikers,he really looks like he is back.

Luis Fabiano
Negotiations between Milan and Sevilla over Brazil international forward Luis Fabiano stalled last week after the Rossoneri refused to meet the Rojiblancos’ demands.
The Spaniards are reportedly holding out for €20 million, but Milan are unwilling to go beyond their initial offer of €14m.
“I am pessimistic,” agent Jose Fuentes told Calciomercato.it. this morning.
“Milan have offered €14m, but that’s not enough to buy the striker of the Brazilian national team. €14m is a fee that depreciates the player. It can’t be done, Sevilla can’t do it and have all the reasons not to do it.
“We will wait to see if Milan make a new offer for Fabiano, but if they don’t, it’s clear that the Rossoneri are not really interested in signing him.
“We are not angry, we are disappointed. Life goes on, but we are disappointed because we were keen on going to play for Milan. Milan had said they wanted him, Luis had told the entire world he wanted to join Milan and now he will probably not go to Milan, because they don’t want to up their offer.
“I was optimistic last week, but I am not anymore. My personal opinion is that the right price for Fabiano is €20m. I’m not saying that’s the price, but considering what is going on in the transfer market, €20m is the right price.”
Press rumours claimed yesterday that Milan could turn to Roma striker Mirko Vucinic if they fail to land Fabiano.

Borriello is being played as a right winger, thats why he doesnt make a great impact on our play and he looks a bit static. But thats normal because he isnt a winger but a natural CF.If he will play in the striker position in our 4-3-3 then he will hit the back of the net very often im sure about that.
It seems Zlatan is moving to Barcelona,IMO IF this goes through(wich it will)i dont see Inter as competition anymore, without Zlatan they are pathetic, they arent even worth Europa League, they are nothing without Ibra. How many ****ing times did the guy score one or two goals for them when they were playing badly once again against teams like Chievo,Palermo etc.How many times did he rescued them from a draw or even a loss?He does everything himself,Cambiasso,Stankovic and the others couldnt even give him a proper chance to finish.
He had to create the chance himself and then also score it.Just look at the games they played without Ibra, they were a joke, and they will be a joke when he is gone, when he remove Ibra from Inter,Inter is getting nervous because they dont know how to play again without their star. They were getting used to the fact that they could just give the ball to him and he does his magical tricks again. Now they have to score goals without him and that will be hard, also Eto'o replacing him with Milito is a joke,Milito and Eto'o are finishers, they arent strikers who can make some actions and then score a goal(Eto'o sometimes can but not like Ibra).
They need midfielders who can setup chances for them so that they can finish them off,but with Stankovic as the creative force.....dont make me laugh.
Everytime Inter will face the other teams(be it Fiorentina or Bologna) they have nothing to worry about,no they can play free if they finally deserve more then a loss they wont be a big Swede who will shoot the ball from 30 m. to claim the win.......

I think Vucinic would be a horrible choice. He is not a natural goalscorer.
So no Fabiano now. Honestly, how pathetic.

Well, sometimes dead deals die. Sometimes they're resurrected. We'll see. I'm perfectly willing to wait until next summer for Dzeko if the Fabiano thing doesn't work out. Maybe they can pick up Trezeguet cheap or bring in Adriano in January. If not, I think there's enough up front the way it is, especially if the guys can stay healthy.
Santos would fill a more pressing need anyway, in my opinion.

I think the Trezeguet swap would be the smartest. It would cost nothing and we would get a proven Serie A striker who still has years in him. We would have an offensive list of Pato, Dinho, Trez, Boriello, and Inzaghi (Looks good to me).
With the money that mgmt does end up spending, we can bulk the defense and midfield departments.
The only thing is that Leo needs to STOP PLAYING ODDO!! The more he plays and continues to stink it up, is the more Juve will probably shy away from the swap!!

That guy Vucinic, i can say...... he is a good striker, i have seen him in some games(when he was in leece, and with roma) and i was impressed very much.He is technical,he is wise, strong, and very smart.
He is something like a style of Amauri of Juve or Berbatov,or Anelka. One thing that i had noticed from him and make me impress is that he is very calm in the game, every move, pass, shoot or whatever he does in game he do it in calm without any stress. That is because he is confiden't(my thought). And that is very good for a player instead of Gila when he was playing with us.
With little words he is a beautifull player to watch him playing. The bad thing is that he is not the big goalscorer that we need. he is not like eto or Villa.Maybe he is not because of the problem that Totti was playing in his role in many games and make him having less chances for scoring.
No problem.

Rick, I keep asking, but no one bothers to enlighten me.
Why is it that we can get Dzeko next summer?
I heard someone mention an added clause to his contract, but has anyone confirmed that at all?

That's correct -- at least according to all the news reports regarding his new contract with Wolfsburg:
Dzeko is thought to have received a large pay rise as part of the new deal, but the most important aspect of the newly inked contract appears to be the inclusion of a minimum fee release clause. The prolific hitman will be allowed a move next year if an offer of €20 million comes in.
I can't blame Wolfsburg for wanting to keep him this year because they're playing in the Champions League, but this seems like a good compromise. Dzeko wants to play for Milan, so by waiting one more year they've agreed to let him go for what Milan was supposedly willing to pay for him anyway. Seems like a good deal all around.
Santos would be a mistake IMO. not milan class at all!!! very average player.
I really couldn't say one way or the other because I haven't seen anough of him, but he has worked his way into the Brazil NT and I trust Leonardo's judgement regarding the Brazilian players.
Probably Galli is gonna bring someone from L.A. Galaxy anyway...a left back or something
Filipéz 182

he is only in brazil NT becouse brazil are having big problems at LB! Marcelo is probably their best option but he plays as a winger/midfielder at real. Santos is no good. I'd rather give Albertazzi and Antonini a fair chance
I heard Andre Santos is a very good player going forward as he is very attacking minded. I know he is a FB, but apparently he isn't the sharpest on defending, but he would bring lots to our attack.
Given the right tactics he could do well.
I don't know though.
Milan should be ashamed, people are saying we should look elsewhere for a striker but chances are we can't get anything else seeing as how cheap we are, might as well stick for Fabiano.
But I'm still upset we aren't signing Hernanes.
Our mercato is very slow, even the rumors are slow.:sleepy:

Meanwhile back at the ranch in Milan...
The furore over Silvio Berlusconi's private life was revived today when an Italian newspaper website produced what it said was a recording of the Italian prime minister as he prepared to get into bed with an escort.
La Repubblica also posted a second recording it claimed was the escort the next day, protesting that she had not received the €5,000 (£4,300) she was expecting.
A spokesman for Berlusconi's governing Freedom People movement described the diffusion of the tapes as "pathetic". But he did not challenge their authenticity.
The recordings were claimed to have been made by the escort, Patrizia D'Addario, during and after two visits to Palazzo Grazioli, Berlusconi's residence in the centre of Rome.
The content of the conversations has been reported in broad terms last month, but this is the first time that the alleged recordings themselves have been made available, along with full transcripts.
One of them, claimed to have been made by D'Addario in the prime minister's bedroom, also backed up reports that Berlusconi's guests were entertained on a giant bed, which according to the transcripts, is in some way associated with the Russian prime minister, Vladimir Putin. The recording is of poor quality, however.
After an exchange in which the prime minister seems to be offering D'Addario a present, the conversation continues as follows:
SB: I'm taking a shower too. And then, then you wait for me on the big bed if you finish before me.
PD: Which big bed? Putin's.
SB: Putin's.
PD: Oh, how lovely! The one with the curtains.
In a recording allegedly made the following morning, D'Addario rings the man who introduced her to Berlusconi. She tells him: "We didn't get a wink of sleep". But adds, "no envelope, though".
She said that she had received: "I don't know, a little tortoise", but not "the envelope – 5000 euros", mentioned by a friend who had also visited Palazzo Grazioli.

I am comparing owners and their priorities. After all, they (don't) pay for summer mercatos.
If Moratti is forming a "super team," he has a long way to go.
As for Silvio and his priorities, I don't know, I always thought women were a good priority. ;) Besides, if he's paying prostitutes, he's charging it to the Italian taxpayers, not to AC Milan. :D

I heard Berlu wants to sign Miley Cyrus...Seriously though just worked a double shift turned on the comp hoping there was a development but more bad news Im prepared for this each time I check though I hope Im made eat my words come sept.
WHat!? Are you crazy?
Juve and Inter are what we call COMPETITION.....
We need to know what their activites are as much as our own.... I can't believe you would state something so foolish (no offense intended)!
If you say that, then why have we been eagerly discussing Inter and the Ibra saga? Now you should see your mistake.... We must keep our enemies close!
Really?
inert and yoovay are going for the league. We are about to overtaken in cl spots again by genoa and napoli after losing kaka, and failing to sign any of our 'targets' with miserly offers.
Seriously if you posted every rumour from all the dross like goal.com and tuttomercatoweb, tribalfootball, etc for Milan, inert, yoovay and any potential Milan rivals then this thread will become more of a joke than Milan's management and that's a very hard thing to do.
Speculate if you must, give your opinion, but just copying and pasting any rumour out there is mad.

Our mercato is very slow, even the rumors are slow.:sleepy:
Edit: Wheres Galliani these days? Hiding in a cave?
Isn't it nicer this way? Don't tell me that you miss him. :D I would rather he remain silent. I am sure that right now he is working hard on something/somebody. No sarcasm here. I never doubt his dedication. It is his stupidity or "good relation theory" that annoys me. :p231:
"At this moment I do not want to talk about the transfer market, but there is one important thing that should be said and that is that there are no negotiations for the purchase of Mirko Vucinic," Galliani stated.

In other news Galliani has said there are no negotiations underway for Vucinic, and that he doesn't want to talk about the market. (milannews, goal).
Hopefully, his coyness means there is work going on in the background.
I still think the real target is Dzeko. I think the original plan was to secure Cissokho and Dzeko as quickly as possible to pacify fans angry at Kaka's departure.
Obvioulsy that failed...:nervous:
I still think the real target is Dzeko. I think the original plan was to secure Cissokho and Dzeko as quickly as possible to pacify fans angry at Kaka's departure.
I think that's probably true. And now Uncle Fester & Co. are kind of between a rock and a hard place. They know they can get Dzeko next summer for the price they planned to pay all along and he remains the primary objective. But because fans are b1tching and complaining and too impatient to wait until next summer, they want to sign some striker with a fairly big name to pacify them. But they don't want to overpay because they plan on buying Dzeko next summer. So it's kind of a Catch 22 situation and that's what's made the negotiations over Fabiano so difficult. If he were really Milan's first choice, they would have gone up a bit and come to an agreement.

I'm glad Andre Santos went to Fenerbahce, I never was that convinced with the guy and I would have been rather angry if the club actually bought him.
I too have this feeling that Dzeko is still the primary target, and I think Milan is trying to gauge how Borriello is doing in pre-season, which seems to be not as great as many hoped.
Perhaps this is the calm before the storm? I think the major issue in our transfer strategy has been our use of the non-EU spot we have left. I wish we had just gotten another play in that non-EU spot so that our strategy could be more focused.
Watching our pre-season games, it seems that Pirlo really is missed. I don't think Ronaldinho should be having to come so far back to get the ball. I'm also not sure if selling Pirlo is really necessary in order to get Hernanes, with a price as low as is being touted, I'm sure we could easily keep both.
I'm also not sure why the Galaxy game is being used as evidence of Milan's downfall. Inter tied 2-2 with an American college team, so I always question the level of players during these kinds of games. I just can't help but think how different Milan would play with Zambro, Pato, and Pirlo in the line-up.
It also seems that Antonini does not play that well on the left side, so perhaps it will be Antonini right, Zambro left?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Milan fans have had to look on enviously as Juventus and Inter splash the cash this summer. The Bianconeri have conducted a truly outstanding campaign thus far, signing Brazilians Felipe Melo and Diego, as well as Italy captain Fabio Cannavaro. Inter, meanwhile, have strengthened by snapping up Genoa star duo Diego Milito and Thiago Motta, as well as Bayern Munich's Lucio.
The Rossoneri, though, have made just one purchase – 27-year-old United States defender Oguchi Onyewu on a free transfer from Standard Liege. The signing of Porto left back Aly Cissokho fell through in mysterious circumstances, with many arguing that Milan invented a problem with the Frenchman’s teeth in order to try and lower the transfer fee.
Speculation has been widespread that Milan are in serious debt, and that it is unlikely that much of the €68m received from Real Madrid for Kaka will be spent on new players. Fans are becoming restless, with riots in the fashion capital, and Milan's chances of success this season look slim at this current moment.
Goal.com Italia editors Fabrizio Ponciroli and Sergio Stanco, who are both close to the situation at Milan, can exclusively reveal what is really going on. And it is depressing reading…
“Milan have no money,” asserted Ponciroli.
“They sold Kakà because they needed money and they have no money to invest.
“Unfortunately, Milan will be just a ‘normal’ club for the next one or two seasons. President Silvio Berlusconi has a lot of problems in Italy and he can't help Milan, as he has done in the past.
“I don’t think Milan will qualify for the Champions League this year.”
Stanco is also less than optimistic over Milan’s short-term future.
“One of the most important problems at Milan is not that Berlusconi doesn’t have money, but that he won’t spend it,” he explained.
“The economic crisis that we are experiencing is hurting everybody, and the head of the Italian government, who has a public position, must be an example to his country.
“Moreover, he has many companies. How can he say to people: ‘sorry we have to fire you in order to spend millions of euros on players for Milan’?
“Even Berlusconi’s children won’t allow him to spend money on Milan, and they are always telling him to sell the club.”
So, if Berlusconi has no intention of spending any more money, thus ensuring that Milan have no chance of challenging for major honours, why will he not entertain the idea of selling the club?
“Berlusconi loves Milan, it is his creature,” Ponciroli stressed.
“In Italy he is best known as President of Milan. He will never sell Milan.”
This is a view echoed by Stanco, who added: “Milan is Berlusconi’s toy.”
“Even if he did want to sell, no one would want to buy an Italian team in the current climate. There are too many problems, and too few profits.
“If a rich Sheikh came to Italy to try and buy a club, it is hard to see everyone allowing it to happen for obvious reasons. Once one club is sold, then all the others will have to sell too in order to close the gap.”
So how much money, if any, will Milan actually spend this summer?
“A maximum of €12-15 million,” believes Ponciroli.
“Only Luis Fabiano can arrive, and I believe that Andrea Pirlo will also be sold to Chelsea.”
Stanco has offered Milan fans slightly more hope, but only slightly. “It's really difficult to forecast who Milan will buy because it's Berlusconi's toy,” he continues.
“He always says he will buy nobody (pressed by his family) but at the end (as occurred with Alessandro Nesta and Ronaldinho) he treats himself to a gift.
“Having said this, I think this summer it will be very difficult to spend much. If they sell Pirlo, which I believe they will, it is possible they could then go and invest €30m in the market.
“They will only buy a forward like Luis Fabiano, and a cheaper, younger Pirlo replacement, like Hernanes or Cristian Ledesma, who will become a backup for Clarence Seedorf. If there is still money, maybe a left back can arrive."
With Milan falling significantly behind Inter and Juventus, the likes of Napoli, Genoa and Palermo conducting excellent transfer campaigns, Fiorentina still competitive, and Roma ready to bounce back, the Rossoneri could be facing the very real prospect of not only another trophyless campaign, but a failure to make the Top 4 in Serie A too.
What are your views on Milan’s financial problems? Is the Rossoneri’s short-term future at stake due to their transfer struggles? Will they fail to qualify for the Champions League next season? Goal.com wants to know what YOU think…

Hasan, a group of my friends also sent me this article, and wanted my feedback...and the sentiments of the fans re our Mercato, post-Kaka.
Everyone knows my position, and for those that don't:
Well...its tough times for Milan, and with the probs that Berlu is having, politically and personally, he just cannot be seen to be investing millions of £s into his club...
I personally think we have to take the good with the bad...when Berlu was acting like Abramovitch and Peres are now, not one Milan fan was complaining....now, he cant/wont spend, and many of these same fans, are now "embarassed" at our low bid's for players, in a market overinflated by the sale of one of our key players...:dontkn:
Why be embarassed when we try to low-ball clubs, when u weren't embarassed when we were high-balling clubs, by making them and their players "obscene" bids of ridiculous amounts of money?
There must be a time for austerity, and what better time? If u can get a player for the lowest possible price, why pay more? For what reason? To give the impression that ur "ballin"? How mature and sensible is that?
So this summer we scrimp...we tighten belts, in an iflated market, it wil limit options, but reduce the risk of overspending.
That's just my opinion though...I could care less if people think Berlu is past it, a thief, a letch, a "whatever"...as long as he continues to bankroll the club, I'm good, and if he stops! So what? I will still support the club.
However, that said, Berlu will, in short order, do something to deflect attention from his other "summer purchases" which he seems to be scrimping on just as he is in the "mercato"...the "envelope" I'm sure was her "tip" well....one thing is a constant it seems...in a recession, tips decrease as well!! :D
That article alomost made me sick..awful by any meanings..
the thing that upstet me most(besides the obVious, like our transfer campaign) was that on the one hand he justified berlusconi by saying things like, milan had depts and he is being the prime minister he has to give the right example(which btw means that we're once more a tool for his political success),and on the other hand he critisised him by saying milan is a toy for him and he always treats himself a gift(discusting)...
okay if being the prime minister means that he has to give examples like not investing on his team(!!),its simple HE SHOULD SELL A.C.MILAN..he has more serious priorites, and if milan is a toy, then we are toys too..which is vomit
A.C.MILAN BELONG TO ITS FANS

http://www.estadao.com.br/noticias/esportes,diretoria-do-sao-paulo-ja-fala-em-negociar-hernanes,405470,0.htm
In other news, Sao Paolo Director (and not just any unknown insider) is openly inviting bids for Hernanes. :tired: He would not think twice if an offer arrived. Asking price is well below the rescission price.
I don't know why Pirlo didn't play against Galaxy. If he wasn't injured then it is strong suggestion that he will be sold to Chelski.

So here's what we did this summer so far:
Official moves:
- Sell Kaka & Gourcuff for 84 + 15 = 99m pounds. (not including Kaka's wages ~10m)
- Lost Beckham for a the first half of Serie A to LA galaxy
- Maldini's retired - we have replaced him with Onyewu
- Signed Thiago Silva for (can anyone remind me how much?)
- Bought Zigoni and Beretta for about 2.5m
- Players who have returned from loan: Abate, Oddo
- Players who have returned from injury: Nesta, Boriello, Gattuso, Bonera (Galliani sees them as 4 new signings)
To be frankly honest - we aren't reeeeeallllly as messed up as most of us think... all we need is for Ronaldinho to perform well and 2-3 quality signings. I think Milan's trying to find a way to sign Hernanes & Dzeko but they aren't able to.
Rumoured targets
Dzeko: Galliani comes out right after Kaka's sale and says Milan's only target is Dzeko...but he was too expensive for us so we backed out. He signed a new deal with Wolfsburg and he said he will stay one more year with them. It is rumoured that there is a clause in his contract to sell him to us next year for a fixed price. However that does not mean we can't sign him this summer, it just means that we will have to pay a crazy amount for him.
Hernanes: As soon as Leo took over, it was rumoured all over that he wanted Hernanes. It seems like he's a big fan and Leo's eye for talent shouldn't be underestimated. At first his price was 40m euro, then it dropped to 20m, then to 15, then to 10, and now its rumoured to be 8m euro with their president begging for offers publicly. If we were going to get him, I think we would have gotten him already as his price is ridiculously cheap now. However, him and Dzeko are both Non-EU so we can't sign both of them this summer.
Cissokho: An embarrasment for Milan. On our website we stated that he was going to be the new face of Milan until we found out there was something wrong with his teeth - so we asked for a 3 million euro discount cause of his teeth. The player has now officially signed for Lyon.
Fabiano: We've been after him in 2004 and we didn't sign him then cause we didn't believe in him...He's been playing in Europe for a few seasons now and we only started to notice him after his 5 goals in the Confederations cup and we want to sign him. We are offering 12.5m euro but Seville want 20m euro. The agent believes this could be wrapped up around 17-18 euro. Milan aparently found a clause in his contract and have made Fabiano turn against his own club but they aren't willing to make any sacrifices and are sticking to their primary offer.
Onyewu: Out of the blue. No one ever saw Milan linked with Onyewu and then bam, we signed him. This means not all of Milan's work is broadcasted so maybe we should be a bit more patient.
Santos: Linked with him but now he has signed for Fenerbahce.
Eto'o: Rumours of him come and go.....nothing concrete... It is rumoured he's going to sign for Inter tomorrow.... personally he's my favourite player from all the players we've been linked with.

you misread my idea. if we were to buy dzeko, i would want him to play for Milan. However i would also buy Hernandes and loan him out to a team where he could get used to the italian game, and then we could maybe bring him back in the winter

The trick is - to use another Serie A team to buy him (like Chievo/Bari etc) and then have them loan him to us. :v408:

Santos has gone to Febenanche, Fabiano's agent has now dispelled a Milan move, and now we are being linked with Eto'o, a move which will almost certainly not work due to his asking price (which will be higher than anyone we have chased so far, and will probably involve Pato, and his masisve wages)......

Despite Kaka’s departure for Real Madrid and a lacklustre transfer campaign, Milan's new boss, Leonardo, is in buoyant mood ahead of the start of the new season.
The Rossoneri finished ten points adrift of Inter last term, and seem to have fallen further behind their city rivals this summer.
While Milan have only signed USA defender Oguchi Onyewu in addition to a couple of young prospects, Inter have brought in South American trio Diego Milito, Thiago Motta and Lucio. Plus Cameroonian hitman Samuel Eto’o looks set to fill the gap left by Barcelona-bound Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
“Inter were already strong and have now further strengthened their squad with new players,” Leonardo admitted to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“But if Milan have all their players available, we will be able to fight for the top places in Serie A. I believe in it, we can make our fans dream.”
Milan are currently touring the USA and will take on Inter in a friendly match on July 26 in Boston.
Vince Masiello, Goal.com
This may be true, but only in the case of last season.... These players Leo is referring to are just getting older and therefore less competent. I feel that the coach himself needs to be more vocal in regards to our transfer plans.... It was like getting blood out of a fr&^gin rock to force MGT to even get a freebie..... Surely, leo can't be satisifed with the group he has at the moment, considering the hefty expectations Berlu puts on him becuase he already has a great group of "champions."

Girondins de Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh no longer believes Arsenal will make a move to sign him this summer, despite manager Arsene Wenger's confirmation of his interest in the Moroccan.
Chamakh has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs, including the Gunners, Sunderland, Blackburn Rovers, Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham.
The Moroccan has claimed in the past that Arsenal are the least advanced club in talks for his signature, and when asked by French newspaper L'Equipe if a move to the Emirates was possible, he said, "I don't really believe it much any more."
Chamakh still wants a departure from Bordeaux, adding, "My bosses [at Bordeaux] are trying to convince me to stay,
"But for me, [moving is] a risk that I'll take. It's my dearest wish."
Whether Chamakh has heard Arsenal boss Wenger's latest comments is unclear, as the Frenchman has gone public over a possible move for the Morocco international.
"We keep an eye on him," he told the club's official website yesterday.
"He is one of the players that we will follow and if we went for a striker then he would be one of the possibilities."
Jamie Dunn, Goal.com
Why can't we go for him? Surely he is cheaper, and fits the bill..... By the way, alot of Arsenal's clever like this one pick-ups turn out to be great and have since left the club for greater targets.....

Milan director Adriano Galliani is set to fly to London and meet with Luis Fabiano's representatives Rio and Stellar Group in an attempt to salvage talks for the Sevilla striker.
Earlier today, the Brazilian's agent Jose Fuentes claimed the deal was dead and he slammed Milan for their conduct regarding the proposed transfer. However, Sky Sport Italia claims Galliani will have one last shot as he tries to kick the move forward.
The report suggests Galliani will fly out to London on Wednesday morning to meet with Stellar Group chiefs. The agency holds 65 percent of Luis Fabiano's rights and the Italian chief wants to work a strategy that can help resolve the problems surrounding the deal.
So far, Milan have only offered Sevilla €14million for the hitman. This has been met with a storm of criticism from both the Spanish club and the player's agent Fuentes. The Rojiblancos described the initial offer as ridiculous and negotiations threatened to turn into a political row.
Galliani is now trying to use some diplomacy and he will speak with Stellar Group in order to find a conclusion to the deal. Voices claim the Italian will apply pressure and use a clause which stipulates that Sevilla have to accept a bid over €12m.
Neither Milan nor Galliani have confirmed the London trip reports, but speculation is rife as he is not in the USA for the team's friendly tour.
Salvatore Landolina, Goal.com
If this is a argument over 5 million dollars or so, then MGT should be ashamed. After 100 million euro in sales gained, we can't afford a 20 million purchase? It comes to ask questions about how much of that cash was really used to "balance books!" If there is little left after doing that, then what kind of ridiculous financial state were we in before?

I acctually dont care anymore if they use that contract thing to bring in Fabiano, just get the freaking guy already!
I dont care if our relationship with Sevilla will be cold, its not like we buy a player from them every year, its taken to long now,Fabiano must come now and Galliani should bring Sevilla's ass to court,i mean why not?If there is something in the contract that should allow Fabiano to join us for 12 million, then why paying more if thats not needed?
Sevilla are the ones who are not respecting the contract and they are wrong, the only thing i dont understand is why Fuentes(agent of Fabiano)is bashing Milan in the press for being cheap,he should bash Sevilla for not respecting the contract....right?
So this makes me wonder that there is acctually no contract-clause,because if there was a clause then Fabiano and Fuentes would have bashed Sevilla and taken them to court weeks by now for not accepting the offer as they really want to come to Milan.....so i dont get it....???

Luis Fabiano
The agent of Sevilla forward Luis Fabiano yesterday claimed that his client’s move to Serie A giants Milan is unlikely to happen after the Spaniards scoffed at the Rossoneri’s €14 million offer, insisting that the player is worth at least €20m.
But Milan lawyer Leandro Cantamessa has painted a completely different picture this morning.
“We think that the €14m we have offered represents the value of the player and we are sticking with our stance,” he told reporters outside the Lega Calcio headquarters.
“We are in no hurry and have no intention of changing our mind, but are nonetheless optimistic.
“The transfer market will still be open for a long time and we hope that we will find an agreement in the end.
“We hope that Sevilla will lower their demands, [vice-president Adriano] Galliani is personally dealing with it and we are confident.”
But press reports in Italy today suggest that Milan could turn back to Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko, despite being rebuffed by the German champions last month.
“No one ever said that Luis Fabiano is our only objective…” concluded Cantamessa.

I hope they can come to an agreement on Fabiano, but it won't be the end of the world if they don't. I still believe firmly that Dzeko is the man that Milan really wants, so I can understand not wanting to overpay too much for Fabiano when you're looking at bringing in Dzeko for 20 million euros next summer. Fabiano would plug a hole for a few years, but Dzeko is more in line with what I think is Milan's long-term plan. If they can't get Fabiano, it would be fine to bring in a cheap short-term option like Trezeguet or explore the possibility of bringing in Adriano (a low-risk/high-reward option in my opinion) in January. Or they could give some of the young guys a chance to step up while waiting on Dzeko.

We need a striker ASAP,and not wait a extra year. What if Borriello doesnt find his Genoa-form or gets injured again?Wich very well could happen, then we have to rely on Inzaghi wich i acctually dont mind at all,if he was a few years younger he would have a starting spot without doubt, but he is too old to play all the games and he will play CL as well.....so we need another striker this year,no doubt.Or a winger so that Pato can play CF if Borrie/Pippo isnt a option and we can play the new man on the RW.
So we need a attacking reinforcement.
As for our goalkeeper,we dont need any,we have to wait until next year to kick Dida out and maybe Kalac to and get a fine young prospect to battle with Abbiati,Abbiati is our number one and is good enough,he never gets injured(except for last year but that really never happened to him).
In defense we only need a LB,we have to remain realistic, after renewing Favagols contract, wich i support because if we get a injury crisis again then he is the perfect guy to play the matches in Serie A he did brilliant last year, and with Gooch also we are overcrowded in CB.Nesta,Onyewu,Bonera,Kaladze,Favalli,Silva...thats six players for 2 places! So getting another CB will not be a option and crazy because we all know nobody will leave. Not Kaladze nor Bonera.....
In midfield we can use another dynamic power like Hernanes, but for me its fine if Pirlo stayes,i think Seedorf will step up his game because he has to start from scratch, wich means working hard for a starting spot.
So a attacker AND LB are needed, and then we are complete, next year we can talk about a extra defender if Favalli retires and a extra striker if maybe Borriello leaves or gets injured again. And a goalkeeper if Dida leaves

The rumours are in Italy that if Wolsfburg buy Nilmar to partner Grafite next season, then Dzeko could be given the chance to come to Milan. I get the impression this might be why we've not gone strongly for Hernanes already, even the Sao Paulo are prepared to sell cheaply. Hernanes' agent himself said that he understands Milan's hesitancy given Hernanes' non-EU status, so we're looking like we're waiting to see what happens with Dzeko.
Let's also not forget Galliani never actually said this deal is dead, and has always said he'd wait to see what would happen and would pursue other targets.
I can imagine Brasileiro will be wondering why we're not after Nilmar ourselves. :D

...... What the ****? 5 million dollars is the yearly wage of someone like Seedorf. You people shout and cry how we managed to get stuck paying them these ridiculous wages, but now you're pissed that they're trying to lower demands? You don't make any sense. The guy has a clause in his contract that means we can get him for 12 if we wanted. The agent is angry because his fee is based on the transfer fee. He gets a percentage of that. So if that is low, he'll get less money. Who's side are you on?

Wolfsburg fought to keep Dzeko i can't see there being any chance of a deal the manager is building strength and depth into the team he is not going to get rid of his star striker. Berlusconi is too obstructive when we buy players he seems to be constantly complaining about the costs of transfers and the cost of wages i can't Milan paying more than 13 million euros for any player. I think he too used to Galliani and Ancelotti working miracles for the club lets face it we are not going to get another deal like flamini or sign any young players similar to kaka for less than 15 million euros.

Someone from Italy was just telling me this. I hope this is true, but I wonder why it isn't all over the media already?
By the way, according to TMW, Milan is interested in buying Elano from Manchester City (he would come cheap and he has an EU passport).
http://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/?action=read&id=162366
And apparently Livorno president Aldo Spinelli has confirmed that Milan is interested in Allesandro Diamanti (and Livorno would be looking to sign Landon Donovan as a replacement):
Aldo Spinelli: Livorno Chasing Landon Donovan, Milan Want Alessandro Diamanti
The Amaranto patron has confirmed their interest in the LA Galaxy star, but admits Milan have targeted their crown jewel.

Press whispers in Italy are suggesting that Livorno have set their sights on Los Angeles Galaxy winger Landon Donovan, and the Serie A new boys’ president, Aldo Spinelli, has revealed that talks with the player’s agent are already underway.
“We have spoken with his representative, but we have to understand what his requests are and whether we can afford him,” the outspoken chief told the media pack gathered outside the Lega Calcio headquarters.
“I know the lad since he was 18, I like him very much and even though his fee would not be a problem, I believe his wage demands exceed our parameters.
“But we could arrange something with some of our sponsors in Los Angeles, just like I did with [Kazuyoshi] Miura years ago, hoping it will bring us less bad luck…”
Spinelli signed Miura at Genoa in 1994, but the Japanese striker only netted a single goal for the Grifoni in 21 appearances.
Donovan could create an intriguing partnership with Cristiano Lucarelli in Tuscany, but the Labronici could lose star striker Alessandro Diamanti.
“He is our ‘diamond’ and we want to keep hold of him,” said Spinelli.
“But we have talked about him with Milan. We have an excellent rapport with the Rossoneri and we will see for next year or perhaps even this summer…”

its better to get no striker at all than signing a 29yo old striker who isnt milan class! Its a total waste of money!!! We need to replace hm again in 3years! Dzeko option is so much better, as we can sell him in 4/5years for more money and we make a profit, + we would have the money for another YOUNG striker.
Or we should not buy a striker this year and try to do it with Pato/Borriello/Inzaghi/Zigoni, at least untill january.
This way we should go for a midfielder, as our MIDFIELD is SLOW and PREDICTABLE. It already was and now even more now Kaka left us. People seem to forget this :s

But if we stay at the San Siro we will rent the stadium, meaning that we will not be able to exploit the full economic potential that comes with owning your own property. For me, a happy market would be Dzeko, Elano OR Hernanes OR D'Agostino, and a LB. Leo is pointing to Silva and Nesta as a sure pairing in the back with Bonera and Kaladze as backups. Zambro will be relied upon for one of the backs with Antonini or Abate to fill in on the wings.

IMO we cannot buy the stadium because Inter are still here,if Merda finally leaves then we can talk with the council on owning the stadium,so if Inter leaves i am pretty sure we will make San Siro our own and give it a face-lift to bring in more money, the MGT will not let that chance slipt through their fingers....

For me, a happy market would be Dzeko, Elano OR Hernanes OR D'Agostino, and a LB. Leo is pointing to Silva and Nesta as a sure pairing in the back with Bonera and Kaladze as backups. Zambro will be relied upon for one of the backs with Antonini or Abate to fill in on the wings.
that's a genius hypothesis sorta like bill parcells job with the miami dolphins okay i'll stop now :haha:

Uncle Fester is basically saying that we have confirmed the offer for Luis Fabiano (the one around 14M, I believe), we are not offering anything more. Either Sevilla accept, or the deal is off.
Also, he admits that we have no plan B (what a genius!), so no Vucinic, as rumors say.
On their website I also read that he said that Beckham would be joining us in January.
EDIT: or so Galliani says (http://www.corrieredellosport.it/Notizie/Calcio/75400/Galliani%3A+«Fabiano%3F+Il+prezzo+deve+scendere»+VIDEO)
The Fabiano´s Saga Continues.
A respectful Website in Brazil reported that Sevilla actually contacted/bidded for Fluminense striker Fred (ex-Lyon). He would be a replacement for departing Luis Fabiano.

Thanks! I was wondering what that was all about. Funny, after translating and reading the link you provided I went to the Milan News Now thing and the top two stories were like "Milan rules out move for Becks." I wondered what the hell was going on, but they took the angle that Galliani had said Milan wouldn't buy Beckham this summer (which, of course, everybody with a brain already knew since Milan can get him for free in January!). :v46:

Diamanti is a striker.
His goalscoring record is not that good from what I remember. Anyway, 26, so still young. I think he is almost 6 feet tall.
"
Goal.com had him listed as the 15th best player in italy not playing in europe
15) Alessandro Diamanti (Livorno)
Has been linked with Inter, Milan and Chelsea following a stunning season in Serie B where he dragged Livorno to promotion. Diamanti is a nippy, flashy forward with one of the best left foots you will ever see. Expect to see plenty of long-range goals next season.
if he could be bought for a reasonable price, i say go for it

Yeah I agree. Plus he is Italian.
Elano could be a very good signing and addition for us since now we lack of offensive and creative midfielder.
In the first half of last friendly game, Milan was just awful in the midfield regarding the quality of the attack the midfielders build. Milan played 4-2-1-3 in the first half of the match. Ok, the defence was pretty good in the midfield area but not the attacking/the building of the game. Seedorf was just almost useless in the very important position (between the two DMs and the 3 forwards). But in the second half when Milan played 4-3-1-2 (our normal formation) Milan's play from the midfield was much better.

Apparently Livorno would want 10-12 million euros for him. When he was linked to Inter recently he said two interesting things. Apparently his wife owns a home in Milan, so it seems he would be happy at the San Siro. He also said that Ibrahimovic was the best player in Serie A along with Pato. Good boy. :)
I remember him a bit from season before last. He seems like someone who would be equally comfortable playing as a forward or an attacking midfielder (which may be why they're targeting Donovan, who is similar, as a replacement). I wouldn't mind at all seeing this happen, but we'll have to see how everything works out. I'm sure this isn't the first priority.

Finally a major English language article on the Nilmar/Dzeko thing:
Nilmar Move To Wolfsburg Could Pave Way For Dzeko To Join AC Milan - Report
Could the Bosnian star still join Serie A this summer?
21 Jul 2009 16:14:06
Earlier today, it was reported that German champions Wolfsburg were chasing Brazilian striker Nilmar.
Now, Globoesporte believes that should the Brazilian join the Bundesliga outfit, it will be at the expense of highly-rated striker Edin Dzeko.
AC Milan had attempted to lure the striker away from Wolfsburg, but the German club were reluctant to let him go, following his exploits last season, as he scored 36 goals in all competitions.
However, should Nilmar arrive as a replacement, Wolfsburg may be willing to lower their price slightly and loosen their grip, allowing the Rossoneri to pounce.
Earlier this summer, reports suggested the two sides were about €5 million apart. The Bosnian striker had constantly made it clear, that he was eager to join the Rossoneri and was disappointed that a deal could not be reached.
Whether the Serie A side will turn their attention back to the 23-year-old depends on if they succeed in luring Luis Fabiano from Sevilla.

i share the Elano sentiment... he is good for 12 goals from the midfield, very creative, good shot, pass, tackle, box to box dynamo....
but we all kno that those in charge wont sign him because we already hav slowdorf...
it hurt my heart to see slowdorf in a milan shirt vs galaxy knowing we can do better... and then ther is Oddo, Favalli, etc... we cant sell them because nobody wants them... :(
do the ac milan leadership not realize that a few extra million euros for players like dzeko or fabiano (and by a few I mean a few; literally milan are stalling out over five million euros for fabiano, dzeko, huntelaar) are nothing compared to the riches that an extra round of champions league play or a higher place in the table can provide. i am honestly disgusted by the stingyness this summer and i dont understand it. WHERE did the 60-80 million euros from KAKA go? we havent spent ****e from that!

I would really like to have Elano in the midfield, I think he's absolute class and I feel that he could suit the midfield very well. He'd also push Seedorf into playing well. Honestly, thinking about Seedorf, whenever he has had to prove himself, I think he does well, but I think there is a bit of complacency in him when there's not fire under him.
I have a question, to you guys out there talking about a few million have you ever bought a car, or a house? Does a few thousand here or there matter to you? Listen to how Arsene Wenger and Sir Alex Ferguson are talking about the market, it is inflated, and they know, and Ronaldo just left Utd, they brought in some okay players, and Owen for free. That is eerily similar to our market. Sure, they do have a great team, but that's not what I'm highlighting Man Utd for, it's the fact that the market is stupidly over-inflated.
Plus, as a future lawyer (God willing) I can tell you that if it is in Luis Fabiano's contract that should an offer larger than 9m come in, they (Sevilla) have to sell, then it is not just a matter of a player costing a few extra million, but it could set a precedent in legal circumstances that would ruin contracts not just for football players, but with you and your working environment.
To follow the law is what allows our societies to function properly, while many cultures have understandings outside of formalized law, there still is a code of conduct (which is what law is) for those understandings outside of the actual law.
Plus, I'd prefer getting Dzeko. Haha.
we are really pathetic.
Kaka, Tevez, Ronaldo, Adebayor, Lucio, Cissokho, Zhirkov, Diego, Benzema...just to name a few names that changed clubs last month. You can probably add Robben, Huntelaar, Ibra, Eto'o, Fabiano to that mix in the next month.
And we are getting excited about Serie B striker.

It really is bad and will only get worse sure we'll scrape by next season 3rd or 4th in the league and maybe a quarter final at best in CL but thats with alot of if's , if Nesta stays fit If Silva turns out to be good , If Ronaldinho can recapture his form , If Borriello can start to realise his potential at a big club , If Leonardo turns out to be a good coach and a success .
That is alot of if's my friends a 30 million investment minimum was needed we didnt get it we didnt get a euro spent its not my money but to spend nothing , zero , zip , zilch , nada is not the actions of a club that wants to be even mediocure.
And please stop saying its only july we'll get players in august because in june ye said its only we'll sign in july fact is AC Milan have no intention of spending the 80 million they made on transfers or any of the 262 million (according to deloite) that they made last year .
If this was stated from the beginning so many millions of ac milan fans would not be broken angry and full of rage./
also, this whole travesty is combined by the fact that our excellent (NOT!) leadership has in the past few years decided to keep an almost exclusively old squad. So while we're taking a summer off in the transfer window, we have very few young players who will mature in the coming year, and many old players whose bodies will degrade with the added age.
And a few million euros invested at the beginning of this transfer window isn't as big a deal as our management makes it out to be as it can lead to a greater income in coming years. Wouldn't you spend 3-5,000 dollars more on a car that will last you a few more years and with greater performance during those years. Being stingy only increases your problems

Hasan the Gazzetta report is not making any sense,if Inter will build their own stadium and Juve get a bigger one then thats just fine for them,we will still have the San Siro, one of the biggest and most famouse club in the world,Inter having a own stadium will make us bigger because now we dont have to share it anymore with them,we have it all for ourselves.
And Inter,Juve are focusing on youngsters i know that,we werent under Carlo because Carlo didnt give chances to the younger players,he preffered veterans because he knew what he could expect from them i think, but now with Leo Milan also pays attention to their youngsters,Strasser,Albertazzi,Abate,Di Gennaro,Paloschi, they will al get their chance to shine.
So we are not behind Inter nor Juve, only in terms of mercato's they are doing better.
dutchie milan pays around 12 mil a year for a the stadium. if we own a stadium it will make us bigger and if we own the stadium you will find us on the top as a financial point of view. just compare arsenal before and after the emirates stadium . arsenal is one of the richest clubs on planet. thats what own stadium means!

A big reason why Milan wants to stay debt free is that the new television deals will have to be negotiated very soon, within the next year or so. That means that teams will have less income from the most consistent stream of revenue they have: TV and sponsorship rights.
Teams' income fluctuates from season to season, be that for Merchandise, ticket sales, or whether or not the team does well in the season (pushing the sales for aforementioned items up) and so when it comes to TV and sponsorship rights, its the most reliable income that a club has.
With so much debt, the debt load acceptable was calculated using a formula that presumed a certain level of income. Now that the world economy is going through this recession, people are buying less TV packages, buying less merchandise, buying less items (from potential sponsors) all affecting the balance sheet.
So, if you are leveraging your club against that debt, thinking that you will be able to maintain a certain level of income, then you are a poorly run club.
This will lead many clubs to start selling the easiest thing to sell: their players.
If Milan makes around 270 million, and one player costs, 20+ million, that is a huge percentage of your income. Then there are wages, and sure there were sales, but when did Berlu or Galli or ANYONE for that matter say that Kaka's sale would be towards direct investment into the club? It was to augment the 270 million made all ready.
The Champions League did hurt us, and hopefully Ronaldinho will be able to push us forward. I think that whatever supposed stinginess Milan shows this transfer period will probably reap dividends in the future. If nothing else, it will force more youth to play, which I hope will push these guys to play like other young players have before them.

Several times.
Berlu: I will use that money and reinvest it in the team to make it stronger.
Galliani: It is not as if Kaka' will leave and no one will arrive. A striker will arrive. You will see.
Gazzetta
You take a lot of effort when you write your posts, which I, and a lot of other people, appreciate, but your points a few times have been factually incorrect.
They have been deliberately equivocal. On the one hand they say we have to balance our books, but on the other they have said that we will reinvest.
They think the average Milan supporter is a schmuck. To have such contempt for your own fans is discouraging and disgusting.

As a businessmen i really can't understand the need for Milan to not spend any transfer revenue on news surely berlusconi realises that it will cost him several 100s of millions to re-establish the team. Even cash strapped Arsenal recognise the important of maintaining a core of successful players they knew if they didn't sign any new players in the winter transfer window that they would be out of champion league contention. The affect of this transfer policy is unparalleled i have seen droves of Milan fans are giving up on Milan and supporting Real or Juventus. with a weaker support base a loss of kaka related sponsorship money and a strong possibility of Milan missing out on champions league participation how the hell does this policy solve Milan financial problems.
I personally think that Berlusconi and his family are so removed from the situation they fail to manage the team properly and are making some fantastically poor decisions. If they are serious about instituting a future cost cutting policy we wouldn't aiming to buy trezeguet or toni this is ridiculous it sums up Milan most threatening problems namely the amount of expensive 30 year olds that we employ. if we sell any of these players Milan will make a loss, they will demand at least 4 millions a season in wages and will never adapt or develop their individual styles of play to quote a old saying old dogs don't learn new tricks. I think i am going to seek the advise of my old economics professor maybe he can shed light on this unbelievable policy.

Trezgol would be a perfect addition to our attack.
He is old but is not fragile.
He is experienced and a goal scoring machine.
He can play for 2 more years.
He won't have any problems adjusting to Milan.
He is hungry for action.
He will be much less of a gamble than Fabiano.
Juve are willing to get rid of him.
Cobolli Gigli has said that it is time for them to sell players and make some money.
We can include Oddo in the deal and get him at a reduced price of 5-8 million.
If we buy Fabiano it would be difficult to buy Dzeko next year because Fabiano would at least play for us for the next 3-4 years. There would be no space for any new additions if Fabiano comes.
... and the list can go on.
If that doesn't make you optimistic then I don't know what will. Considering our financial position and non-availability of Dzeko, Trez is the perfect solution for us.
I don't share your opinion, well not any more at least... We already have Pippo, we need someone like Dzeko/Eto'o methinks..
But Pippo will be 36 years old in a few weeks. He can't play all the time. He and Trezeguet could share the goal-poaching duties playing alongside Pato up front. Then next year Milan could exercise the 20 million euro buyout clause that was written into Dzeko's contract so that he could move to Milan after giving Wolfsburg this upcoming Champions League season. If Milan is patient and doesn't panic and overpay just to pacify fans who want a big-name striker day before yesterday, they'll almost certainly have Dzeko next year. It's extremely unlikely a deal can still be made for him this year. Pippo will probably retire after the season and Trezeguet could take over his role coming off the bench to score late goals and spot-starting for a couple more seasons as Milan goes through this transition period.

the perfect solution? did I hear the word 'optimistic'? Replacing our legend, our golden ball winner, our everything - with an injury prone 30+ yr old player that doesn't start at club nor International level? And thats not it, the thing is, we already have an exact same player, but even better in Pippo Inzaghi... I really don't understand the optimism.

Okay, make a choice:
A. Milan pays 20 million euros for Fabiano or (insert striker here) then lets Dzeko move to Arsenal next year.
B. Milan buys Trezeguet cheap this year and buys Dzeko next year.
You have to consider what's best for the long term, not just what looks like it might be best for this year.
Trezeguet is 31? And a scoring beast.
Inzaghi is 35 and a goal scoring beast still.
I'm not saying Trezeguet and Inzaghi are twins but, there is hope. I guess?
Trezeguet knows Serie A, not injury-prone, expirienced, and can give maybe another year or two.
Dzeko next year, and maybe Trezeguet will score and keep Milan comfortable for the year.
Thats being positive.
BUT, Berlusconi and Galliani still must purchase us Hernanes and a Full Back.

I don't know how an agent benefits from an exchange deal but they do take a cut from a cash deal. I think he just wants the deal to be favorable towards him.
Whether it is a cash deal or an exchange deal (plus partial cash) is up to Juve to decide. However, this negotiation is the best news happening for us right now and I am optimistic that we will get him.

go back to winter mercato 2009 and see the plans to build Milan around the kaka sale. Or go back a month ago where B&G were saying that they are gonna build a champion team.
Quite frankly I've never seen a bunch of losers like B&G, they literally have no honor or diggnity from summer 2006 they are making profit out of ac milan and now they are killing everything that ac Milan has.
It does not take a genius to understand what's going on, Finnivest appointed 3 companies to work for ac Milan, and the profit of these companies will go directly to ac Milan . Now these 3 companies are about to be broke so they sell kaka to balance the books. that's the whole thing nothing more. Hasan is correct (B&G did say that they would re-invest the money), and you are correct too (B&G also said that the money would be for the debts - hence no re-investing).

I don't get you people. Trez is a great striker and will can play with both Borreillo and Pato on the field. On top of that he is the type of striker Milan NEEDS to beat those so call smaller sides.
Also, Dzeko seems to have a clause in his contract that he could leave for 20mil next summer(I highly doubt that), but anyhow, if Milan struggles and miss the CL the following season, I don't think Dzeko will come to Milan. On top of that, teams, Arsenal, ManU, Juve, Inter....they are all capable of paying 20Mil for a striker. Therefore if Milan does not do well next season, Dzeko won't even consider coming.
One last thing, B & G did stated they will re-invest the Kaka+Gourcuff money in players.

It's Hernanes not Hernandes, and frankly it's all well and good saying these things, but the management no longer care to change, just merely move a few seats, like that joke about the deck chairs on the Titanic.
As such the midfield on the team suggested is still too static. We really need a bob to box mid. I'd love to see Afellay wearing the red&black.
AS much as I love to see Inter lose and play crap. These are only friendly matches.
Exactly, what it matters is how we're going to do in official matches. It's a long season ahead,so is premature to make impressions after a couple of friendly matches. We'll see how we are staying in our match against America Cali, real soon.

Is there definitely a clause in Dzeko's new contract to let him come next season? I've only heard rumours on forums about it.
If it really is a case, I can just about accept a Trezeguet to Milan deal for one season.
We really have to sort out our defence more though, that much is evident in our preseason matches so far.
ca'nt imagine how our team is going to play against Chelsea next. No way we are able to beat them after seeing Chelsea's performance today.

Macheda is really someone who I think will break out next season at ManU. I actually had been watching some re-runs of EPL games and the more I watch him, the more I think he will break out in EPL. His finishing still needs improvements but his body strength and confidence are just great for a 18 yrs old.
AC Milan chief Galliani admits Fabiano deal unlikely
22.07.09 | tribalfootball.com
AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani concedes a deal for Sevilla striker Luis Fabiano is unlikely.
Milan are struggling to talk down Sevilla's asking price for Fabiano and Galliani admits: “The deal is still ongoing. Sevilla will not lower their price and thus the deal is on standby.
"If the price is not lowered then we will not go ahead with the move."
For me, Wolfsburg's interest in Nilamr, which could mean the sale of Dzeko is interesting.....

David Trezeguet
After chasing down strikers all around Europe, Milan look set to plump for David Trezeguet.
Juventus have apparently decided to put the 31-year-old on the market against his will, and the striker looked rather tense during yesterday’s friendly match against Vicenza, even refusing to wear the captain’s armband.
La Gazzetta dello Sport today claims that Milan are ready to offer asylum to the former Monaco man. Apparently, Rossoneri vice president Adriano Galliani, along with transfer consultant Ernesto Bronzetti, met last night with the player’s agent, Antonio Caliendo.
It is suggested that Milan are prepared to sacrifice Marco Borriello to land Trezeguet, who has become the most prolific foreign striker in the history of Juventus.
Borriello returned to Milan last summer after a successful loan spell at Genoa, but was plagued by injury problems and barely contributed to the club’s cause.
Milan have turned to ‘Trezegol’ after negotiations with Sevilla for Brazil striker Luis Fabiano broke down, as the Rossoneri are unwilling to meet the Spaniards’ asking price of €20 million.

The Trezeguet - Borriello swap would be just stupid, as we'd lose our only physical forward and still be lacking strikers.
There have apparently been a huge number of complaints regarding Trezeguet coming to Milan, so clearly not everyone believes it's a good transfer.
If Nilmar signs eventually with Wolfsburg,i still don't think that we'll going to buy Dzeko. As < zafrul > says,i also don't think we'll buy anyone significant this summer.Even if we bring Trezeguet, for me is not such a big move.As for Diamanti from Livorno,Galliani said that it will be a interest for Milan next year.

Leonardo
Press reports in Italy suggest that Milan are considering a sensational bid for Juventus star David Trezeguet and are prepared to offer Marco Borriello in part-exchange, rumours that will only have been intensified by head coach Leonardo's comments this morning.
The Rossoneri have turned their focus to the Frenchman after failing to reach an agreement with Spanish club Sevilla over Brazilian international hitman Luis Fabiano, whose agent all but confirmed this morning that the transfer has collapsed.
“That’s a deal that is about to come to a decision: yes or no. But things are a bit stalled at the moment,” Leonardo admitted to Sport Mediaset.
But the Brazilian could console himself with ‘Trezegol’, who has netted 161 goals in 292 appearances for the Old Lady since joining the club from Monaco in 2000.
“We are talking about a player who has hit thousands of goals,” explained ‘Leo’.
“I don’t know how far along discussions are, but Trezeguet is certainly an extraordinary footballer.”
Milan had also attempted to sign Wolfsburg forward Edin Dzeko earlier this summer, but the German champions refused to let go of the Bosnian international.

Trezeguet really isn't at all physical, he doesn't use his body to dominate opponents which is something we were crying out for in the last two years. Borriello is someone who uses his muscle much more. Trezeguet is much closer to Pippo than Borriello.
Trezeguet's goalscoring record is top notch, this cannot be denied, but getting him in and losing Borriello we don't only replace our only physical forward with a poacher (which we already have), we replace a 27yr old with a 31yr old and we still lack depth in the attacking department. A swap doesn't really improve us much when taking into consideration all these factors.
Is there definitely a clause in Dzeko's new contract to let him come next season? I've only heard rumours on forums about it.

We really have to sort out our defence more though, that much is evident in our preseason matches so far.
According to the media reports from early July when he signed his one-year contract extension, that's the case. Most of the newspaper stories are offline now, but I found this one:
Edin Dzeko has put pen-to-paper on a one year extension at Bundesliga champions Wolfsburg according to a report in Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung. The news should put an end to speculation linking the Bosnian hitman with a move away from Germany. Premier League sides Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Manchester City were all thought to have been monitoring the 23-year-old’s contract circumstances while AC Milan are known to have made a formal approach.
Dzeko is thought to have received a large pay rise as part of the new deal, but the most important aspect of the newly inked contract appears to be the inclusion of a minimum fee release clause. The prolific hitman will be allowed a move next year if an offer of €20 million comes in.
As for the defense, all I saw was a tribalfootball account (which is about like reading it in AS or Marca except in English :D), but they're saying Milan is interested in Cagliari's Michele Canini.
Oh, and Galliani has said Boriello isn't going anywhere and won't be used in any swap deal.

I'm not in favour of a swap-deal involving Borriello and Trezeguet. We need more depth and we won't get that out of a swap like that.
Apparently Huntelaar have ended talks with Stuttgart because he wants to go elsewhere. I think that would be a good solution for us, even though it seems rather unlikely at the time.

Talk of Juventus striker David Trezeguet joining Milan in exchange for Marco Borriello dominates Italian papers this morning, but Rossoneri chief executive and vice-president Adriano Galliani has moved quickly to stop the rumour mill.
“With regard to transfer rumours published in the press today, Milan’s clarification, through Adriano Galliani, chief executive of the club, is clear and evident,” reads a note on the Daivoli’s official website.
“Marco Borriello is not on the market, therefore he never entered into any deals. Milan confirm he is absolutely untransferable.”
Borriello returned to Milan last summer following a superb loan spell at Genoa, but only made eight appearances in all competitions due to a series of injury setbacks.
However, Milan are still expected to open talks with Juve over ‘Trezegol’ who is valued by the Old Lady at around €10 million.

Milan have laid eyes on Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner amid reports that the deal for Luis Fabiano is on the verge of failing.
Fabiano's agent Jose Fuentes claims Milan's attempt to sign his client has collapsed. "I think the deal for Fabiano has failed," Fuentes told Sky Sport Italia.
Tuttosport are reporting that the Rossoneri have now highlighted the Gunners' striker as an alternative to the Brazilian. Bendtner has not been a regular starter at the Emirates, but Emmanuel Adebayor's move to Manchester City suggested the Danish international would earn more playing time.
However, Bendtner may now find himself the subject of Milan's desires. Voices in Italy claim the San Siro-based side are expected to make their interest known. Last month, the Rossoneri made contact with Arsenal, but that was for Adebayor.
Earlier reports in Italy claimed the Rossoneri were looking at a possible swap between Marco Borriello and Juventus hitman David Trezeguet, but Adriano Galliani, the Milan vice-president, has dismissed those reports.

I just read that comment from Galliani, that Borriello isnt on the market, and acctually it makes sense,we need another striker,if we lose a striker(Borrie)and bring in Trezequet.....then we still lack a striker. So the exchange doesnt make sense,if Borrie goes Galliani has to bring in two strikers, one to fill up the void left by Borrie and the other would have come anyway.
So i knew it wouldnt happen,i think we will chase after Trez, but we will insert Oddo in the deal im pretty sure Galliani is going to do this.Oddo isnt needed anymore and Leo isnt seeing him as a starter, and we have Antonini and Zambro for RB,so i hope the deal will succeed.
Also,Milan tifosi are not happy with the possible arrivale of the Frenchman, because he is a Juventini and has some physiqual problems.

If it is a GOOD EPL striker vs GOOD Bundesliga striker, yes, indeed I will choose a GOOD EPL striker.
But, Bundesliga PLAYER OF THE YEAR vs a below average EPL striker who only happens to be in a little-bit-more-than-mediocre team.... I'd take the former at most time.

There have apparently been a huge number of complaints regarding Trezeguet coming to Milan, so clearly not everyone believes it's a good transfer.
Yeah, it's a deal fans from both clubs would hate.
On one side you have two players who missed huge part of the last season due to serious injuries so neither Juve nor Milan can feel safe.
Trezeguet is of course the better attacker of the two, but with one injury in every 2 and a half years ratio and soon to be 32 he's a huge risk for Milan. Then his huge salary must not be ignored. He's paid 4,5 mil in Juventus and being concidered a world class striker he won't accept anything less for that.
These are the negative aspects looking from Milan's side. Also, Borriello offers something else than Trez in terms of team play. Trezeguet, more often than not, is not useful at all without any service. Borriello can do things by himself, can open spaces and is better suited for faster pace.
From Juve's fan perspective, Trezeguet is a legend while Borriello is a one season wonder, who even in that particular season scored less goals than Trezeguet. Missed last year with a serious injury, was never any good apart from his season in Genoa, and was even banned from playing football 3 seasons ago. With healthy Trezeguet Juve can be sure of scoring many goals, while healthy Borriello does not guarantee that. Juve don't have a pure striker apart from Trezeguet. Milan already have Inzaghi.
There is a positive side of course. If Trez stays healthy Milan will get a goal machine.
Juve on the other hand will get rid of Trezeguet's huge salary and in Borriello they will get a player ready to sit on the bench instead of creating problems when he won't start the matches.
As you can see, there are positive and negative sides to this deal, but the negative overshadow the positive.

Tony29--good to see you here.
I think the Trez deal would be awesome! I wouldn't call him injury prone, just like Borriello isn't. These were exceptions to their careers. Owen is injury prone. Nesta is also.
For the current situation, Trez would be awesome. IMO, a trident of Dinho-Trez-Pato is phenomenal. Let's see what happens. We don't have money apparently, so let's make do.

One season does not make someone injury prone.
Not a record of someone who is injury prone. The above doesn't even take into account his European appearances.

Actually, he has the knee problem for a while Hasan. He had problems with his knee in 2002/03 and 2004/05. In both seasons he missed more than a half of the season.
Then he managed to play 3 full seasons but after season 2007/08 it was clear that he can't do it and he needs an operation. The operation should have been performed during the summer but Trezeguet insisted to go on. Then he made it even worse and he injured his knee in September 2008 for the third time.
His was out for 6 months and when he returned Ranieri decided not to start him.
To add to this, he also has problems with his other knee. It's not as serious, but from time to time he's missing matches due to that problem on the other knee.
But a healthy Trezeguet will be well worth for Milan. He was never someone who relied on his speed and work rate so age should not be a problem at all. Just like Inzaghi. The only age related problem might be that by getting older his body will be even less resitant to injuries.
For Juve though, there aren't many positives, except from the economic ones. Borriello is a player who can offer different things than Trez, but Juve already have Amauri and Iaquinta to do that. What Juve need is a Trez or Pippo type of player.
But this might be the last chance to get something out of him. The risk of another injury is big, his salary is huge, he's not accepting the bench. A businessman would sell Trezeguet this summer.
The fans though will never accept Trez to be sold, and even less, to be exchanged with Borriello.
Noone is asking the fans though :)
sorry, hasan, if you are going to pick his good years in terms of injury, everybody can me "not injury prone". Let's take a look at his appearances three years before that - 02/03-17, 03/04-25, 04/05-18. Not exactly the number of a healthy player.
plus, you are overlooking the importance of the last year - he appeared in only 4 games - and he's almost 32 - his body can't recover all that well anymore.

http://www.milannews.it/?action=read&idnotizia=9735
Dzeko's agent says that it is not impossible that Wolfsburg won't sell him, if Nilmar arrives. It all depends on Veh.
But, Wolfsburg have said it before that Dzeko will stay with them and along with that they are looking for a first team striker. At that time they were looking at Bojinov, Crouch etc.)
So don't get your hopes too high. :D

No I am not overlooking the last year, during which he appeared only four times, but that shouldn't label him as an injury prone player.
So let's look at 2002/03 he appeared 27 times in all competitions. In 2003/04 he appeared 30 times in all competitions. In 2004/05 he appeared 23 times.
His record during those years is impressive too, far more impressive than Fabiano.
I think when people want to get rid of a player or when he is on the verge of leaving, we tend to justify it to ourselves. We did it with Kaka'. Of course, these justifications have an element of truth to them, but often leave out parts of the story that would make us uncomfortable.
Also, if during all those other years Trez was having problems with his knee, then he appeared more times than players who do not have any chronic problems, but pick up annoying injuries here and there.
I think Trez would give us precious options. It would mean we could rotate Borriello, Inzaghi, and Trez. Mark my words, if Trez comes he will score goals by the hatful.

wow its great to have such a friendly and understanding member here on the forum.
I asked you in a nice and friendly way... how old are you dude? doesnt matter, dont answer, as you get blocked anyway. I hate people who act like idiots.
BTW it looks like juve is getting Caceres! VERY talented defender if you ask me, he still has a lot to learn but he could be the future replacement of cannavaro.
Whenever I watched this guy, I got this feeling that he was on the verge of getting a red card. Probably its just me who thinks that way.

he did had a bad season last year. but he for sure has loads of talent :) and he's only 22 so he'll learn. Also Flamini in the beginning (at milan) always looked like he could get a red card.

I agree with the Flamini part. I really do not know much about Cacares anyway. IMO the center backs should be the most disciplined of the bunch, like Maldini or Nesta for example :D

Very good post, glad to see you back ;)

spot on :)
IMO trez is too similar to inzaghi so we dont really need him. we were always complaining about the lack of height in attack (and defence) and with borriello we have such striker. He was very usefull in those 5 (:D) games he played for us last season. he scored 2, + MoM performance against lazio and the assist for the matchwinner of kaka in another game. so he did OK! He also got loads of chances but too bad he missed many. but its a good thing he was always on the right spot. and if he couldve scored a few more his confidence would rise, wich is the most important thing for a goalscorer.
IMO Borriello could really surprise us all next season!!
Hasan Rossonero

Well if it's height you're looking for then Trezeguet is taller than Borriello.
I don't think we can get a Dzeko type striker this year, so Trez will be a really valuable alternative. Imagine being able to rotate Inzaghi, Trez, and Borriello who all have proven that they can score goals.
I think we should go for him, but I seem to be in the minority :).

they can score...however, we need striker that can at leaast create his own goal especially in serie A...and fabiano is that striker..inzaghi, borriello, trezequet can't do that...they rely on crosses, passes...we need fabiano this year if we wanna challenge for any title..Fabiano is one of the best strikers in the world...he's worth 20 mil for his talents, goals, skills but not for his age..that's how i see it...

Interesting twist on the Eto'o/Ibra saga. It seems that Eto'o cant come to an agreement with Inter as he is asking for WAY too much. Barca are getting ready to pay 75m. This seems like good news as they will not get Eto'o and will lose a huge player on their team.

But, Bundesliga PLAYER OF THE YEAR vs a below average EPL striker who only happens to be in a little-bit-more-than-mediocre team....
A mediocre team that comfortably won Milan last year? Oh and please don't give me that Milan were not on form bull.
Arsenal is crap and they finished 4th in two last years. AND EVEN despite that, Bendtner is a crap amongst Arsenal players..
Actually we finished 3rd in 2008 and only 4 points off the 1st, pretty sure we could have done the league if it wasn't for Dudu breaking his leg.
Our excuses since dropping off form for the last couple years is no money, being broke due to the new stadium. No offense buddy but what is Milan's excuse?
And on Nicklas, I'm the very few Arsenal fans that has respect for him and I can see true potential in him, mark my words when I say he will become twice the striker Adebayor is/was.

Oh it was
Imagine Maldini, quicker, stronger, fitter and more classy than Ronaldo or Kaka. Slliding the ball away from players without them realising and then dribbling down the left wing before delivering delicious crosses.
And Franco, perfectly timing tackles and leaping for headers, never breaking a sweat, strolling forward making amazing balls forward like Pirlo.
Iv not seen a defender come anywhere near close to them. Ah the good old days when we valued great defending!!

After I posted the transcript of a conversation between Berlusconi and a prostitute, anything goes I think. :D
Treze is a great striker but is useless without good service from midfield. Our midfield is too static and struggles to create opportunities, especially against packed defenses. So with the squad as is, I would not want Treze. If we can get a creative, mobile midfielder to play with Dinho and Pirlo then I would support the deal. Some better fullbacks wouldn't hurt either...

Toni is dropped to the reserves. It's sad as 2 years ago he was probably the most dangerous striker out there netting 39 goals. Last year alone he smacked in 20:

Hope we don`t end up with him.

It looks very likely that we will not have bought anyone significant when this thread hits 10,000 posts. :wallbang:
Is it true that Milan has sold Abate to Roma for 3 million? Can someone confirm? I also read somewhere that Milan is pushing for this deal to go through. If it is true, damn. :skull:

if it's true, I think that's good cause it'll just save us some disappointment from the season, cause the player is really over-rated by Milan fans!
I'm surprised none of you are talking about the video.
