I think this is Galliani's bedtime reading:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richest_football_clubs

No debt: the market's aphrodisiac.

Funny that Schalke 04 are worth more money than Inter :hihihi:

It's still worring that the board has not closed any deals yet. I can't help but feel that since we only have one non-eu spot we're trying to feel the market so we can be sure to get the players we want. I find it hard to believe that the management aren't planning on getting anyone, in that case why would they bother flying all over the world to start negotiations with various players.

I imagine that when we close the first deal, the second will follow soon after. For eksampel, we can't sign Hernanes without knowing that we can get Fabiano for the price that we want, since our second option could be someone like Adebayor (Who btw odly enough delayed his transfer to Manchester City) or someone else who doesn't have a eu-passport. Same goes for the full back role. Maybe our first option for the full back role could be a non-eu player, like Srna, but the striker and midfield role would maybe be seen as more important.

In any case it does make sence to be sure of what we can and what we can't get before starting to make purchases. I just wish they'd hurry up a bit. I really feel it's a mistake that the squad isn't full before the US-tour, since pre-season is suposed to be about making the squad gel. I honostly think that alot of our poor years in the Serie A has often been down to poor starts to the season, caused by the late transfers of players. We almost always start poorly and end great, itnever mattered in the CL because the important games are in the second half of the year, hence our succes there, but it's a problem in the Serie A.

Actually Milan do make more money than inter for sure and as for juventus it about the seem about of income. Milan has more lucrative media contracts and merchandise sales, plus a much bigger fan base a example of of this is on facebook the Milan group is 90,000 strong and the inter group barely 28,000 members. In addition according to my friend naldo the inter milan London association group has roughly 120 members while Milan london group is about 700 members strong.

In any case the forbes report is a joke the only people that know how much Milan is making is Berlusconi and Galliani. plus they would also know the costs that Milan are incurring which is of more interest as Milan seem to be encountering some hude additional cost. after wages and taxes Milan should have expenditure of roughly 200 million euros.

Here in Norway there's talk of a new law in football where clubs are not allowed to buy players if their economy isn't healthy, or positive. Clubs like Manchester United and Liverpool would not be granted a license to play in the norwegian league if they had been norwegian. Stupid clubs use money they don't have and nowadays norwegian clubs are desperately trying to lower the player's wages in order to get the economy back on track.

because he's crap and we don't need the player with his type, because Inter won't sell anyone to us, because he will cost money and we need the money more to buy CF-LB-mid or even GK.

why dont we make a bid for alessandro rosina? he is hugely talented, and he is currently cheap due to torino's relegation. an ideal sub for dinho and for 5 mil, he would def be worth it. also, while i like ambro enough, flamini should be starting, he has much more talent. ambro is still a great sub though imo

It is well known that Milan are desperate to sign an attacker this summer, having so far failed to make any significant additions following the departure of their former superstar, Kaka, to Real Madrid.

With their interest in Sevilla’s Luis Fabiano seemingly going nowhere, the Rossoneri have turned their attentions to a player from their neighbouring rivals, Inter, in Amantino Mancini.

The former Roma man is all but certain to leave the Nerazzurri in the coming weeks, just one season after his controversial move from the Italian capital.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Mancini would be an ideal addition to the Milan squad, as he would perfectly complement the likes of Ronaldinho and Pato in Leonardo’s new setup.

For now, these reports remain rumours, as both clubs are yet to comment on the speculation; however, it is claimed that the Rossoneri will consider acquiring the player on loan for the coming season, with the option to purchase him outright next summer.

We need a winger, and that is all I can say......

Leonardo calm over lack of AC Milan signings
17.07.09 | tribalfootball.com
New AC Milan coach Leonardo insists he has no problems with their lack of signings this summer.

The Brazilian explained: "I am happy to start like this. What makes me happy is the availability of the players. Here there are players that I've known for even eight, nine, ten years and now are willing to work with me in a moment of change.

"This has made me happy. From here onwards we will see what they will say on the field."

I wish I had his persona.... Personally, I think Leo should be more vocal. I am sure that Carlo being an ambtious guy would have said more.....

I am at the stage where I think that anyone is better than nothing for Milan. We can longer afford to pick and choose, but rather wait for cheap market oppurtunity.... It saddens me, but atleast the basis of the squad is still strong.

Quite honestly, despite the reports from goal.com (don't take their stuff too seriously), I think if Hernanes is available 10m then it shouldn't be unrealistic to be able to keep Pirlo. His salary is high, but there are names in our squad who I'd sell first with high wages (Dida and Kaladze come to mind immediately).

You've mentioned Pirlo is a dying force a few times lately, but are you sure this is the case? During last season he was one of our more consistent performers during the second half of the season (his form dropped mostly in the last few weeks). Tactically, he's been pinned to a single position which makes it more difficult for him and easier for opponents to stop him. For Italy, he is still one of the best performers everytime they play.

You must have seen the reports saying Santacroce is available for around 6m. I think even Milan can muster the funds for that much for a player of his calibre.

Mate, Pirlo was playing as an understudy to Beckham in the second half of the season. Even worse.... When his passing and creativity wasn't up to scratch, his lack of defensive skills deemed him almost useless....
I agree on his consistent International performances, yet there there is no argument that the man is far past his consistent best. If a good offer comes in, we shouldn't hesitate.....

Man, we seem to be linked to every player on the planet (except the really expensive ones :) ) I really hope Galliani et al have got something up their sleeves....

My 2 cents on the Fabiano debate---I think we're right to play hard ball with Sevilla. In this economic climate, Fabiano is not worth 20M. I think 15-18M would be a fair price. But with Real Madrid stepping in, they have virtually inflated all player prices. If Del Nido has the guts to call us cheap, then so be it...he'll be left with an unhappy player on his hands and no money!

Apparently, we're also linked to Trezeguet with Oddo going Juve and Dinho apparently isn't giving enough in training. This prompted Seedorf to tell him to get his act together and Tassotti reacted by saying he's the boss there.

Rick good post about our building for the future and I agree with you there. However, most of these youngsters we're getting are still in their teens. Realistically, most will not be ready for at least another 5 or so years, so we must build for the next few years with some good purchases.

What are you talking about? Beckham and Pirlo played in different roles, and Beckham's addition benefitted Pirlo as it gave him a little more space (and the team alternative options) when we built attacks.

As for Pirlo's defensive skills, we all know it's not his strong point (though he is heavily underrated by many in this area). However, tactically, he would often be the last midfielder, meaning he'd be the one left covering the defence many times. For a player with his skillset, this is misusing his abilities.

And we have to hesitate for offers with Pirlo, just like we did with Gourcuff and Kaka. He's been the most vital component of Milan's setup in pretty much the last 10 years. Kaka added spark to the side, but ultimately Pirlo was the one to run the show. We've had a lot of major changes this summer which the fans have been displeased about and more importantly the players, we need to rebuild, but too many changes is not a good way to do it.

I think the debt was 65 million. So Kaka's sale pretty much covered that. So, now, with that money and Gourcuff's money plus the money that the club made last year plus the savings on salary by getting rid of Sheva and Kaka', for example, should give them at least 30 million to spend. So, Berlu does not really have to pour that much money in.

We must remember we are in the CL this season. Many people forget that we'll get a guaranteed income from that, which should allow us to spend a little extra this summer (not a huge sum as we must prepare for next summer).

Inter sell Ibra for 40 M plus Etoo plus loan of Hleb!!! That's sound WAY too much to me. Etoo alone is worth close to 30M!

Well that transfer would be good for Milan and bad for Serie A. Ibrahimovic is absolutly irreplaceable at Inter. Eto'o is going downhill and as far as I'm concerned he peaked 2-3 years ago while Ibrahimovic is just coming of one of his best ever seasons. Eto'o is also no where near worth 30M, his contract runs out next season and he's also a class bellow Ibrahimovic, remember Inter just sold Maxwell (who's probably as good as a left back as Eto'o is as a striker) for 5M euro's.

Hleb is, well Hleb... He's a bit of a joke, the only player that didn't manage to score in Barcelona last season, even though all his teammates desperatly tried to get him at least one goal when they were 2-3 goals up. Wasn't even in the squad in the CL final, not much to say about him.

With Milito and Ibrahimovic Inter would have a nice balanced attack, I don't really see Eto'o/Milito being anyway near as dangerous. It depends ofcourse on how they spend the 40M euro's, but unless they can get someone in the class of Aguero then I don't see this being a good deal, from a sporting point of view.

Also, Mancini, no thanks in my opinion. I didn't even think he was that special during his Roma days, so his season at Inter leaves alot to be desired for my part.

Adriano has sensationally announced that he would be prepared to join Milan, the great rivals of Inter, whom he by mutual consent last April after going AWOL in Brazil for several days. Since leaving the Nerazzurri, he has re-ignited his career at Flamengo, the club where he first shot to fame.

His agent, Gilmar Rinaldi, has dropped a strong hint this week that ‘L’Imperatore’ could return to the peninsula in the near future, revealing that the Rossoneri have already enquired after his client. The player himself has now admitted to contact being made.

“Above all, I am keen on the 2010 World Cup and then I will think about returning to Europe and joining a big team,” he revealed to the Corriere dello Sport.

“Yes, it could be Milan because I would have no qualms accepting a deal from such a big club like the Rossoneri.”

The 27-year-old has a clause in his contract with Flamengo that would allow him to walk away next January, but press reports in Italy claim that the wedding between ‘Adri’ and the Diavoli is more likely to be celebrated next summer.

Besides Inter, Adriano has also represented Fiorentina and Parma in Italy.

IT is a great deal for Inter. Eto plus 40Mil for Ibra. Heck, if MIlan got that offer from Barcelona instead of the 65Mil from Real, I will take the Eto plus 40Mil deal in a second.

Inter might lack the creativity of Ibra but Eto is the kind of striker that JM wants and knows how to max their play. Just look at Drogba, he was just a powerful striker but once he began playing under JM, he became more of a complete striker.

On top of that Helb is no joke. I think he will do well under JM as he can play both sides of the 4-3-3.
I also have a feeling that Inter will indeed sign Cissohko as they need cover in FB with the 40mil.

It is not as good of a deal for Barcelona though, as both Messi and Ibra are creator, but I am sure Pep must have a reason to do this instead of getting Villa.

Personally, I think Ibra was one of the main problem for Mancini last season. As Mancini was used to moving fast and always expect a return pass from Totti at Roma. While Ibra does not do that for him. JM will probably keep Mancini around for one more season esp since Figo left.

About Pirlo, I am optimistic with his next season performance (if he still stays with Milan). From last friendly game Pirlo will have much more freedom to play and manage the game AND won't have so much responsibility to defend since there will be two DMs (Flamini and Gattuso) behind him.

In Carlo era Pirlo's position was a dilemma IMO. Milan benefit so much from the deep-playing playmaker to live up their play but in the other hand Milan's defence (and the DM beside Pirlo) had to work harder to cover the space of Pirlo's position (a delicious position for the opponent) since he was a pure playmaker but had also major task to defend.

With Leonardo's tactic from last friendly game Pirlo should be our real playmaker :

--------Gattuso---------Flamini--------
------------------Pirlo-----------------

Pato------------Inzaghi-------Ronaldinho

We have just taked a big step forward, without doing anything :).

Inter without Ibra, is really the wrong move by Inter. Everytime Inter has been in problems Ibra was the man who rescued them - and when things didn´t go well for Ibra, Inter really had big troubles.
Eto´o is good in Spain, but in Italy and the way Inter play it will not be like Barca. It could be really a great move for us Inter-haters.

I'm pretty sure it was mentioned already, but possibly the biggest change in the transfer market since Bosman ruling (probably even bigger than this) will be made in 2012 when clubs will only be able to make purchases of players within the club's means. This will stop clubs like Chelsea, Real even Man City from hiking up transfer prices with sugar daddies. With this in mind, I can understand why Man Utd and Milan are being extremely tight with money, and are buying youth players like there's no tomorrow.

In essence, what is perceived right now as poor management by Milan could well work out to our favour in the long run. Especially when you consider we are the first major club in world football to try and stay financially healthy.

If that and the 6+5 rule is in full effect.

I am not going to go into the 6+5 rule as I think it is abit racist and unfair for players coming from small countries playing their trade in top leagues. To me, I believe in quality of players, if the players are quality, they will play regardless(ofcourse Mr. 4time CL winner is a HUGE exception for this belief) of their nationality for top teams.

About this debt rule, on the surface it looks great and it makes sense. But there will be loophole. For example, one of the owners of Real can just buy part of Real's estate(old trainning ground or used equipments....) for over the market prices, or how owners, going to use Berlu here, sign players like Messi from Barcelona for 50Mil under his own company and then loan Messi to Milan for like 2mil pounds per season. Those are just two ways that clubs with rich owners can get away without creating debt for the club.

Thus at the end, there is really no stopping rich owners buying top players to play for their teams regardless of their so call debt issues.

Perhaps later years when rules are ready , in my opinion its right time for world of football to applied rules of salary cap like NBA, it may reduce gap between rich teams and poor teams.
It may also make competition more interesting with possibly 6-7 teams in one league has competitive squad .

Trez-Oddo shock exchange?

A surprising transfer rumour is emerging that Milan have offered Massimo Oddo in exchange for want-away Juventus striker David Trezeguet.
Both players are unsettled, but due to their huge wages are unable to find other clubs to accommodate them.

Oddo returned from his loan spell at Bayern Munich with the Germans deciding not to take up their option on the World Cup winner.

Trezeguet is increasingly crowded out after the arrival of Diego, but interest from Olympique Lyonnais and Marseille came to nothing.

Milan see this as a cost-effective way of ending their striker problem, as they are refusing to increase their £12.5m offer for Sevilla hitman Luis Fabiano.

A straight swap would allow both clubs to replenish their squads in needed areas at practically no cost.

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Rossoneri Vice-President Adriano Galliani has proposed the exchange and is waiting for an answer.

You know, with all this doom and gloom, it seems that I forgot we had a certain player by the name of Alexandre Pato. I have been wasting time on youtube, and this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGxhoEchhl8) just makes me remember: "HOLY **** WE HAVE THIS KID!"

I also agree with ACMilan1983, it seems pretty obvious that there are real reasons why Milan is shifting. I am sure it would be easier, from a business-side of things, for Milan to piss money away (besides the political ramifications for Berlu right now).

It is obvious that we are building for the long-term, few teams in the world really have a real youth setup. Looking at that list of the amount of debt clubs have, its amazing how much debt English clubs have, even looking at a team like Inter, it just underlines how Milan is always a few steps ahead of everyone.

That being said, I really want Milan to win and to get players that LEONARDO thinks we need.

And do yourself a favor, and watch Borriello's goal against Udinese, if that doesn't inspire you to put some faith in the guy, I don't know what will.

ps. Borriello's goal against Inter (when he was with Genoa) is also worth a look. Glad he a knack for scoring against those bastards.

I totally agree with this kind of thinking. It's more polite and to a certain extent more respectful to us fans. Most of us work damn hard for our money and to see clubs throw it around without a care in the world, to me, feels like a slap in the face. So bravo to Galliani for not going with the flow and splurging.
Of course i am not excited by our summer transfers (or lack there of) but really, its probably the right thing to do. Why buy a player for twice his value? In hindsight it will turn out to be bad for the clubs pocket and therefore bad for the future.
And to be honest i trust Sir Alex Ferguson more than, say, Florentino Perez.

Btw, apparently Roma are selling Vucinic for 20M euro's. Am I the only one that thinks he's a class striker? Only problem is that he tends to play on the left wing if I'm not mistaken, where we'd need a right winger/striker. He also doesn't have an eu-pass, he's absolutly class though, no doubt about that.

About the Oddo - Trez swap, I don't really like us picking up older players, but if Galliani pulls this one of then I'd take of my hat for him. This could actually be a great deal, if we used the money we saved on players like, say Hernanes and Cissokho or somebody else who didn't live back when the world was flat.

Five different sides have managed to win the Scudetto since the year 2000 - with a number of high-profile players tasting glory and defeat. The first two years saw the trophy stay in Rome, split between Lazio and Roma.

Marcello Lippi's Juventus then took home two titles on the trot in 2002 and 2003, while Milan waltzed to a title the year after in 2004. The Rossoneri were also the only Italian side to experience continental success, winning the Champions League in 2003 and 2007.

The last few years of Serie A have been dominated by Inter, who have won four consecutive Scudetto, one assigned to them as a result of the Calciopoli scandal in 2006, while the 2005 title has been left unallocated.

Through it all, the Italian league has had it's fair share of star players, but who has been the best of the best? Adam Scime selects his top Serie A XI from the past decade…

Formation: 4-4-2

Gianluigi Buffon (Parma & Juventus)

The Italian became the most expensive goalkeeper in the world in 2001 when he transferred from Parma to Juventus for a world-record shot-stopper’s fee of €52 million. He was worth every penny, as he won the Scudetto in his first season at the club, before adding another three titles (two of which were revoked due to Calciopoli). Some reporters in Italy suggest that with Buffon in net, Juventus guarantee another ten to fifteen extra points per season due to his incredible saves.

Lilian Thuram (Parma & Juventus)

Arguably the greatest French stopper of all time, Thuram also joined Juventus from Parma in 2001 for a big hefty transfer fee, after Zinedine Zidane's sale to Real Madrid gave the Bianconeri plenty of capital to work with. His presence at the back was nearly insurmountable, as he helped Juventus to the Champions League final in 2003 and gave the club five years of excellent displays before leaving for Barcelona at the outset of the Calciopoli scandal. Another worthy contender for this position was Roma and Milan wing-back Cafu.

Fabio Cannavaro (Parma, Inter & Juventus)

A constant mover, Cannavaro has played for three teams in this decade. Eventually leaving Parma for Inter in 2002, the centre-back was unable to help the Nerazzurri lift any silverware before astonishingly being straight-swapped for benchwarming goalkeeper Fabian Carini in 2004. After winning two Scudetti under coach Fabio Capello in Turin (later revoked), he won the Ballon d'Or and earned the nickname 'The Berlin Wall' for his victorious performances at the World Cup 2006. Despite his success, he was labelled a 'traitor' when he left Turin for Real Madrid, but he's now back in Serie A with the Bianconeri again.

Alessandro Nesta (Lazio & Milan)

One of the most astute defenders of this era, Nesta started the decade in the best way by winning a Scudetto and Coppa Italia with Lazio in 2000. Moving to Milan during the Aquilotti's financial troubles he continued to take home trophies, including two Champions Leagues, another Scudetto, and the World Club Cup. If not for injuries, one wonders what more he could have achieved. Few, if any, strikers got change out of a healthy Nesta.

Paolo Maldini (Milan)

The Rossoneri captain had already been playing 15 years before the start of this decade. The illustrious defender won many accolades even in his twilight years, being included in the UEFA Team of the Year in 2003 and 2005 and winning the UEFA Champions League defender of the year in 2007 as Milan won the event in Athens. Overall, he led his club to eight trophies beyond the year 2000. It's doubtful anyone else will match his longevity, as he retired at the age of 40 this May, still marshalling the Milan defence. He is also the all-time appearance holder in Serie A.

Javier Zanetti (Inter)

The versatile Argentine has played in a number of positions for the Nerazzurri and captained them to four consecutive Scudetti, also winning two Coppa Italias and three Italian Supercups since 2005. This past campaign, he became the player with the second most appearances in the history of Inter, only behind Giuseppe Bergomi. Another interesting statistic is he has not received a red card in this decade - how's that for professionalism?

Kaka (Milan)

The Brazilian came to Serie A as a virtual unknown in 2003, but left it as one of the world's best players in 2009 - purchased by Real Madrid for €68.5 million. One of the most influential attacking midfielders, the Brazilian's crowning moment was when took home the 2007 Ballon d'Or after he was top scorer in the Champions League tournament with ten goals as Milan won the prestigious competition for the seventh time in their history. Overall he made 270 appearances for the Milanese giants, scoring 95 goals in all competitions.

Andrea Pirlo (Reggina, Inter, Brescia & Milan)

The early part of the decade saw Pirlo bounced around by parent club Inter to Reggina and Brescia, but he did not flourish until he joined Milan. Employed in a deep lying playmaker position by coach Carlo Ancelotti, the player resurrected the regista role and has been the fulcrum of the Rossoneri side ever since. He may best be remembered for his exploits at the 2006 World Cup, but his importance to Milan is just the same, as witnessed by his team-mates praying he doesn't move to Chelsea this summer. Also one of the best set-piece takes Serie A has to offer. Gennaro Gattuso and Esteban Cambiasso just missed out in this position.

Pavel Nedved (Lazio & Juventus)

Another of the brigade to move to Juventus in 2001, Nedved had already experienced Serie A victory with Lazio. Not only known for his thunderous shot, the 'Czech Fury' was one of the hardest working players to grace the pitch in Italy - playing until the age of 36 at the highest levels, when he decided to hang up his boots. The blonde-haired dynamo took the team by the scruff of the neck in 2002-03 to the Champions League final, hitting stunning strikes against Real Madrid and Barcelona, but was suspended for the final, which his side lost on penalties.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Juventus & Inter)

The Swedish sensation has been an unrivalled success in Serie A, becoming it's most devastating striker over the past few seasons. Indeed, the player has a 'perfect record' since moving to Italy, winning five straight Scudetti (although his two with Juventus were revoked due to the Calciopoli scandal). Not very many can boast that accomplishment! Meanwhile, he also was top-scorer in the league this past year. His main criticism continues to be his shocking inability to deliver in the Champions League, despite his spectacular form in the peninsula.

Francesco Totti (Roma)

'Er Pupone' is the epitome of a symbol for a club. The Giallorossi captain's lone Scudetto win was in 2001, but he continues to bang in the goals for the capital outfit. The 32-year-old is the club's all-time leader in appearances and goals and the active top scorer in Italy top flight with 178 goals to his name. Along with his goal-scoring exploits, he is a brilliant assist man with uncanny vision. A true hometown hero!

Buffon

Thuram - Cannavaro – Nesta - Maldini

Zanetti - Kaka – Pirlo - Nedved

Ibrahimovic – Totti

Italian giants Juventus have openly launched a bid to snatch Parma’s Kenyan international midfielder, MacDonald Mariga, before the end of the transfer window.

Since the transfer window opened, a number of clubs including Napoli, Lazio, AC Milan, Valencia and Fiorentina have shown interest in Mariga. At one time even the English giants, Manchester United and Arsenal, were also said to be following the player.

But now Italian daily, TuttoSport, has reported Juventus shareholder John Elkann as saying that the club are targeting the signature of Brazilian Felipe Melo (already successfully recruited), Udinese’s Gaetano D’Agostino and Parma’s MacDonald Mariga.

“The transfer market is on offer for us. We must make sure to operate well. Our target is to bring in Felipe Melo, Gaetano D’Agostino and MacDonald Mariga,” TuttoSport quotes the owner of Italian car brand Fiat as saying.

“We want to strengthen the squad for next season. There are many negotiations still going on,” Elkann added.

If Juventus finally sign him, Mariga will be the first Kenyan to play in the European Champions League.

Juventus finished second behind Inter Milan in Serie A, and are now intent on bolstering their squad before the European Champions League kicks off, with Felipe Melo already brought into the squad.

Besides assisting Parma to gain promotion to Serie A, Mariga has been the midfield kingpin in Kenya’s 2010 World Cup/Africa Cup qualifier campaign.

Oddo played alright at Bayern last season, and had a great first half.....

It would definently be a more win situation for Milan, and I suspect Juve would demand some cash, perhapd 10 million? Chuck in Seedorf for free!

Aly Cissokho Says Goodbye To Porto Squad, Will Join Lyon Within Hours – Report

Cissokho
After one transfer mirage earlier this summer, when it appeared he would join Milan only to fail a medical on account of dental problems, Aly Cissokho finally appears set to leave Porto during this transfer window, reportedly saying his goodbyes to the Dragoes squad at training on Thursday evening.

L’Equipe reports that Cissokho spent a particularly long time talking to coach Jesualdo Ferreira. The player has enjoyed a remarkable ascent in the game since moving to Vitoria Setubal from Gueugnon last summer. He joined Porto for €300,000 in January and will be sold for around 50 times that price only seven months later.

It is expected that the transfer will cost the French outfit in the region of €15 million and will also include a clause that will see the Portuguese side claim 20 per cent of any future transfer fee earned by OL.

The 21-year-old left-back is set to become Olympique Lyonnais’ third summer signing, joining les Gones after Michel Bastos, who only signed up on Thursday evening, and Lisandro Lopez, a player familiar to Cissokho from his time at Porto.

There are still two stumbling blocks that could see this move scuppered. Lyon have yet to agree personal terms with the Blois-born full-back, while the player must also pass a medical examination at the Stade Gerland.

Nevertheless, L’Equipe suggests this is a mere formality and that Cissokho will be a Lyon player within “a matter of hours”.

I cannot believe Mr. 4 time CL winner is left out of that squad.

Honestly, Ibra might have dominated the last few years, but Sheva was as good if no better than Ibra now during 2000-2006.

Then there is Pippo who always scored.

Crespo was also great back for Parma and Lazio.

Nalx

Trez is very similar to Pippo IMO, provided they're fit, they can never stop scoring. Anyway, about the serie A team of the decade, I think Sheva deserves to be there more than Ibra. He just won one scudetto, but his tally in serie A is absolutely amazing

This is true. If Milan could swap Oddo for him, that would be a nice, cheap short-term solution. You know he's going to score goals and he'll have an expiring contract in 2011. :w200:

By the way, when I saw the news about the proposed Ibra/Eto'o swap, I went back to the Barcelona forum I visited yesterday to see how the posters there were taking this news. Not good for Ibra. I'd say it's running about 2-1 against the deal. It seems most would rather have Villa and many are concerned about Ibra's failure in big games. Some don't see his style or attitude fitting well with Barcelona.

Milan kind of got a roundabout compliment though. One guy, talking about Ibra's inability to score in the knockout stages of the CL, noted that part of the problem was that he played for the two Italian clubs who weren't AC Milan and therefore sucked in the latter stages. :D

Besides the 40 million in cash which Inter will now almost certainly use, the deal will just strengthen Barca and further solidify their place as Champions League favourites.....

Can't see Oddo going for Trezegeut unless there is cash going to juve as well. That is Milan's stumbling block, Perhaps Seedorf would be a good incentive, as he could act as a replacement for Nedved?

I'm positive Seedorf isn't going anywhere. He had a chance to return to Holland and play for Ajax and he turned it down because he wants to see out his contract with Milan. Besides, while I don't see him getting the minutes Carlo gave him anymore, he can be very valuable as a reserve and spot starter. If Milan let him go, they'd have to find someone else to replace him and that would kind of defeat the purpose. Like some of the other old guys, they'll just let his contract run out while they mold the younger guys to take over. Besides, Seedorf isn't old enough to replace Nedved yet. ;)

Hasan Rossonero

I agree. The problem with Seedorf was that he started every game and looked jaded and burnt out.

As a reserve he would be devastating.

I would welcome Trezeguet, but I don't think Juve will go for it...

Vucinic is a good player but 111 games 34 goals for lecce and 85 games 22 goals for Roma isnt a great return he is only 25 but I think after 5 years in Italy (actually 9 but playing first team for 5) he is always going to be an 7 - 10 goal a season man not what we need.

I know some players bloom late but he is never going to be a 25 goal a season man and his assists arnt great either + it says Chelsea offered £20 million we do not have that to spend.

By the way, I watched Beckham's return to the L.A. Galaxy last night. He and Landon Donovan have settled their differences and they actually looked pretty good together last night despite not having time to train together. Donovan is out of contract in November, so maybe if Beckham comes back on loan in January he'll bring Donovan with him. ;)

After the game Beckham and Donovan were interviewed on the pitch and both are looking forward to the friendly with Milan. Beckham is looking forward to seeing the guys again and Donovan is looking forward to playing against Gooch because they've never played against each other before. The interview was a little creepy though because both were standing there shirtless flanking the field reporter. Guess that was one for the ladies (or the gay men). :D

Yep. I've always liked Vucinic, but Milan would be much better off saving that 20 million for Dzeko's buyout clause next summer. If they were going to spend that much on a striker this summer, they'd have offered it for Fabiano.

Is this certain to go through? I don't think so.

True, but there are always loopholes. It's up to UEFA to plug as many as possible before the law is passed. My intial thought was like yours though, rembering how Real covered their debt earlier this decade.

Is this certain to go through? I don't think so.

Platini's saying they're going to do it (but it can't be done immediately) and has the support of many club owners, so whilst not certain it seems it's quite likely to happen. I'm not sure there's any legal issue to stop them.

Lugano played a total of 32 games and had 12 yellow cards and 1 red card last season, including both league and turkish cup.
He's much more experienced as he was during Sao Paulo years, I dont think thinsk he´s short fused, just a little too tough sometimes.

So, now there are links to Emmanuel Ebouè and Alessandro Diamanti...

There may also be news so to speak "English", talk by Alessandro Diamanti, already tried a few weeks ago from interfering. Adriano: 'I'd like to play for Milan'
Friday 17 July, 2009
Adriano admits he would have “absolutely no problem playing for Milan” if he returned from Brazil.

The former Inter striker has been linked with a San Siro comeback, but this time for their arch rivals the Rossoneri.

“I am first of all targeting the 2010 World Cup and then a return to Europe for a big club,” he told the media in Brazil.

“Yes, that could well be Milan, because I would have absolutely no problem playing for such an important side as the Rossoneri.”

Adriano’s agent confirmed this week that there is no clause in the contract banning him from returning to Italy for a different side despite rescinding his deal with Inter early.

Nonetheless, there are reports he will remain at Flamengo until June 2010 and only then switch to Milan.

Trez-Oddo shock exchange?
Friday 17 July, 2009

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Rossoneri Vice-President Adriano Galliani has proposed the exchange and is waiting for an answer.

why dont we make a bid for alessandro rosina? he is hugely talented, and he is currently cheap due to torino's relegation. an ideal sub for dinho and for 5 mil, he would def be worth it. also, while i like ambro enough, flamini should be starting, he has much more talent. ambro is still a great sub though imoI agree with you 100% on this.

Cant understand why we arent intrested in this player, who was head and shoulders above everyone else in that team, and gave us non-stop problems when we faced them.

I think his price might not be as low as we would expect, as I am sure Torino view him as a key player, and they will be counting on him to help them get promoted next term.

As a back up for R80, he would be well worth the investment I think.

Juventus Keen On Parma’s MacDonald Mariga - Report

James Momanyi, Goal.com

As this mercato is very boring, I will accept the invitation to start discussing about other clubs' transfer policy here...:diablo:

IMO it's useless for Juve to buy a CM or DM after they got Melo and Diego. They have Sissoko, Marchisio, Zanetti, Melo, Tiago, and someone I forgot his name.

I don't want Mariga in Milan either, he's not in our standard IMO. Gattuso, Pirlo, Flamini, and even Ambro are better than him, save Hernanes.

And for Trez: http://www.goal.com/en/news/10/italy/2009/07/17/1388106/ac-milan-is-a-good-option-for-david-trezeguet-agent

Sao Paulo encourage AC Milan to bid for Hernanes

AC Milan have been invited to bid for Sao Paulo star midfielder Hernanes.

The Brazil international has been linked with Milan as a replacement for Chelsea target Andrea Pirlo.

A Sao Paulo insider told Estado de S.Paulo: "If an offer of £8 million arrived from Milan, Sao Paulo would be ready to sell Hernanes."

That price falls well inside Milan's transfer budget and if Pirlo is sold, coach Leonardo will push to have Hernanes signed as a direct replacement.

Wasn't even in the squad in the CL final, not much to say about him.

.

By far Eto'o is a better goal scorer than Ibra... Eto'o shows up all the time for a match... BIG or small... how many times Ibra fail to perform in crucial matches... Eto'o is always among the top goal scorers in la liga... look at his stats... and compare that to ibra... Ibra IMO is like a one yard bad dog... barks alot in italy against the "small teams" and when time comes for him to bark he is like a little ***** cat... it was better if Inter used ten men against Man U last year...

as for Hleb he is a sheva double...

lol the deal is reported to be worth 40 million euros plus eto, i would aspect Inter to use some of that cash to buy hleb or bojan maybe cassano. 67 million is more than a fair amount for kaka who was having troubles after his 07 injury. Ibra is really worth so much for his ability to win games and he has a lot of attributes that Barcelona need. 100 million would have been fantastic money for kaka but we would have been responsible for the most unethical football transfer ever, lets be clear if Kaka went to man city it would of been for the money the best man city might win would be a fa cup or next year a europa cup.

Don't get me wrong, I hate Ibrahimovic, he's a dirty Interista and before that he was a dirty Juventino, but he's on a completly different level than Eto'o. Ibrahimovic makes Inter tick, without him they'd be lucky to qualify for the UEFA cup (Euro League?). Luckely for Inter he wasn't injured last season, but in the few games he did miss they were an absolut joke. Eto'o doesn't make Barcelona tick, as a matter of fact, I've been watching almost every Barcelona game last season and there's no doubt that in the attacking quintet he's definetly the weak link.

His scoring record is great, but that's about the only thing he's got. I honostly believe that there'd be at least 10 other strikers that could've scored the same amount, and probably even more, than Eto'o did last season had they been in Barcelona.

Last season Ibrahimovic become topscorer in Serie A, the second most scoring in Inter scored 6 goals or something. Comparing that to Eto'o who scored 30 goals in La Liga, but Messi and Henry both scored 20+ goals. Still playing in a team that scored 100+ goals, Eto'o didn't even become La Liga topscorer (Or Barcelona topscorer in all comps). I think it's safe to say that it's ALOT easier to score in La Liga, especially when you're playing as the striker in Barcelona with Xavi, Iniesta, Messi and Henry setting you up, than it is scoring in Serie A at Inter with Stankovic trying to be creative. Also Eto'o's finishing was terrible last season, it was at least as bad as Adebayor's. Still, like Adebayor, he does have his moments of brilliance, like in the CL final for eksampel, and that's why he's a class striker. Still as I said, he's replacable for Barcelona, definetly, Ibrahimovic is irreplaceable for Inter.

And about Ibrahimovic's fear of the CL knockout rounds, it is strange, but I think that most of the problem is that he's playing for a trashy club. Some clubs just isn't ment for that kind of succes ;)

Well Inter could now change the way they play. If they get, say Cassano (they are linked to him), they will have the creative part covered. And then Hleb would come too, who is decent at distributing the ball.

I think these moves make Inter a complete team.

Eto'o is a clinical finisher. I think it is Barcelona who are getting the poor deal, but their hand seems to be forced by Eto'o's intransigence and greed.

40 million + Eto'o + Hleb is madness.

Coming back to us, if Trezeguet turns out to be our only purchase in attack, then I think it will not be the end of the world. Borriello+Pato+Ronaldinho+Trez+Inzaghi is a very good attack

However, I agree, we need someone like Lavezzi, Rosina or Cassano to deputize (or compete with) Ronaldinho. But I think management thinks Seedorf is that person.

17-07-2009, 16:06
Trez would be a fantastic option for us. We will offload Oddo and get a first class striker without spending a penny (or may be just a couple of million :D ). Oddo has been the worst performer for us in the friendly against Varese. Plus Trez is a Serie A veteran and should have no problems settling in. He has two years left in him and we can use him until next year when we try for Dzeko again. Maybe even sell him to a French club later on.

Our financial position and the crazy demands for contract rescission leaves us no credible choice but a Trez swap.

Di Gennaro can be the back-up/competition for Ronaldinho everyone is asking for. It is a big stretch for Di Gennaro but the risk is worth taking.

^^ He has to be selfish for Inter because there's no one for him to play with. There's hardly anyone on his level of technical ability in that team, so he's left to do it all on his own. This can work in the domestic league but has fallen short in the CL. But with Barca he'll at least have people on his level to play with. I'm sure he'll be fine, as will Eto'o at Inter.

Hernanes is great player and would fit Milan nicely. São Paulo is passing for some troubled times right now, their coach were fired weeks ago and they are badly missing Rogerio Ceni´s leadership.
I think this guy has lots of potential and is avaliable for a fair price.
He was once cited as more expensive player because everybody thought he would be a national team first eleven, but he lost his place to Felipe Melo what made his stock low.

Ok, this is very funny:

Kaka’s Mega Move To Real Madrid Was A Sign From God – Wife
The other half of the Brazilian superstar has given her thoughts on her husband’s switch to Spain.

Kaka’s move to Real Madrid from Milan was confirmed on June 8, 2009, in a deal that would see the Brazilian join the Spanish club for the next six seasons. The deal cost the 'Casa Blanca' a mammoth fee of over €65 million, which kicked off their spending spree this summer.

For the first time since the move was sealed, the wife of the player, Caroline Celico, had her say on the transfer, and more significantly the cost, something that she has declared is a sign from God.

“There are people out there who need our help,” Caroline stated in an interview, as reported by Corriere dello Sport.

“I made a covenant with the Lord, that I was convinced in spirit to marry a virgin. After falling in love with Kaka, I thought that I would fail in doing this; however I told him clearly that I wanted to remain a virgin until marriage.

“It was a signal that I had respected the Lord, and now there is a sign from God, through Real Madrid.

“How can someone, in this period of crisis, be worth so much money? It is because God has put this money into the hands of Real Madrid, in order to recruit Kaka.

“From here we can open a church in Madrid, as there are people who must hear our words.”

Kaka and his wife are both evangelical Christians, who are involved with an organisation that preaches the word of the Lord. There is a video currently on Youtube which outlines their objectives through this mission, which they will be hoping to pursue further in Spain.

No offense, but I'm tired of the endless "oh, we should sell such-and-such because of their high wages."

Right. And who's going to buy them?

I was making the argument about why Berlu is prepared to sell Pirlo. His biggest problem is Pirlo's high salary, my point being other players with less important roles in Milan with similar salaries would be better sold first.

As for who is going to buy them, I'm pretty sure we could sell Kaladze for a fair amount this summer if we want to for around 8-10m. As for Dida, he's more difficult to sell, but I wouldn't mind releasing him back to Brazil (which would appear his favoured destination) if the need arose.

And even if somebody bought them, Milan would have to agree to subsidize part of their contract. Might as well just wait and let their contracts run out in the next couple of years.

Have I missed something here? Why exactly would we need to agree to subsidize part of their contract? Even then if this were to happen, we could cover the difference with the money we get from the sale. It means that we don't really make much, but at the very least we get two mammoth wages off the list.

what's up with people being so confident in Di Gennaro and Abate? These players are not good enough - not yet at least. There are much better players out there that shouldn't be too expensive that can perform much better than these players (ROSINA!!).

They have potential, and whilst I can't speak for others, I do want them to get a fair chance next season, both to see if they're capable and to let them grow as players. I don't mind getting Rosina mind you.

The thing is, what can UEFA do about how Real covered their debt a few years ago if it happens again. It is perfectly legal.
Also, lets use Tevez as an example. ManU only paid his wages for the past two years. Can UEFA comes in and say, you cannot loan a player for two years?? Or you cannot loan a player who does not belong to a CLUB.

Not much can be done about how Real covered their debt last time. But we have to remember Real won't be able to get in such debt again should the law be passed. If they were to use such a scheme to make money though, nothing can really be done as far as I'm aware. Real are a very difficult problem, because they have a lot of support from external sources who are willing to spend at their own expense. However, the spending in football must be curbed and this is at least a start.

I'm not sure I follow your Tevez example if I'm honest.

Hernanes for 10 mil and Trezeguet for Oddo, and some defensive player for the remainder of the cash - sure not a class starting defender but some valuable back up, possibly young and promising - and I am happy for this transfer market.

A question to those who know something about Hernanes... could he be played along side with Pirlo? Or maybe a bit on the flank? How could we organize a 5-man midfield with him?

As for Davide Di Gennaro, I dont think he can be too much of a back-up for Dinho.... I guess Seedorf can be the back-up.... I mean, maybe if he doesnt get to play much he will run and put more effort to get a starting spot, and if he isnt played every week he will be fresher. He could be a fine sub. Especially if we get Hernanes, I dont see him as a starter.

As the reports confirm that Barca and Inter will going to swap their Striker’s. In order to acquire Ibrahimovic, Barca will pay 45m plus Eto’o and Hleb… that would mean that ibra cost Barca around 80m…. we sold Kaka for 67m , did we sold him cheap????

As for as fabiano saga is concern…… 1st fabiano isn’t better than Huntelaar. Milan 14m not enough for fabiano, but it could be for Huntelaar………….

Fabiano 'furious' with Milan
Saturday 18 July, 2009
Luis Fabiano is “furious” with Milan over their transfer penny-pinching and warns he “feels taken for a ride.”

The Brazilian has made it very clear he wants to move to San Siro, but the Rossoneri have refused to increase their £12.5m offer despite Sevilla’s rejection.

“The player is furious at the way Milan have behaved,” revealed agent Jose Fuentes. “He feels taken for a ride.

“We want to understand how we are supposed to move forward from this. We are waiting for Milan’s move.”

The Confederations Cup top scorer is valued at around £16m and would be released for that figure, but the Serie A giants are playing hard ball.

Vice-President Adriano Galliani has outright refused to present a new bid to Sevilla and instead pointed out he would “wait for the sales” to bring in a striker.

So far they have not reinvested any of the £56m raised by selling Kaka to Real Madrid, as all their new signings have been free transfers or players returning from loan.

If Milan are holding out on Luis Fabiano to seek a different target, then those would only be more expensive and difficult to reach.

Emmanuel Adebayor is in advanced talks with Manchester City over a £25m move, while Edin Dzeko has recently renewed his contract with Wolfsburg.

There is a theory that they could offer Massimo Oddo to Juventus in exchange for want-away hitman David Trezeguet.

Hernanes can play as DM, a two way midfielder (water carrier like Seedorf's old role) and the deep playmaker role like Pirlo. It should be possible to fit them both into a side, but how it's best done is the more important question.

Have I missed something here? Why exactly would we need to agree to subsidize part of their contract? Even then if this were to happen, we could cover the difference with the money we get from the sale. It means that we don't really make much, but at the very least we get two mammoth wages off the list.

What team that would want Dida could afford his wages? There lies the problem. It's easy to say Milan should sell him and a few other of the old guys, but the only teams that might be interested would be mid-table clubs and relegation strugglers who wouldn't want to break their wage structure by taking on old players who make twice as much as their star players. It's not like Real Madrid or Chelsea are going to buy these guys.

Well then guys like Dida and Seedorf or whoever should have the decency to accept a wage cut. After all they are well over 30 and entering/have entered the twilight of their careers.

Again, that's easy to say, but would you want to cut your wages in half just so the company you've been working for can get rid of you? I doubt it. Maybe Milan wasn't thinking far enough ahead when they signed these guys to the contracts they did, but the players did sign their contracts in good faith with every expectation of serving them out. Milan is obligated -- both legally and morally -- to honoring those contracts. As I said a few pages back, the situation is what it is and it's something that Milan has to live with over the next couple of years.

Sevilla Striker Luis Fabiano's Agent: Milan, Stop Fooling Us Around
The player's agent has told Milan to make a better bid or forget the striker...

Luis Fabiano's agent, Jose Fuentes, is applying the pressure on Milan to offer what Sevilla want for the striker.

The Rossoneri have been in constant talks with the Spanish club, and with Rio and Stellar Group, who own a majority stake in the player. Figures have been the problem for the Italian side as they have been unwilling to meet the hitman's price tag. A game of cat and mouse has ensued and reports claim the only concrete offer Milan have made is €14 million, a far cry from the €20m asking fee.

Fuentes is becoming fed up of the Rossoneri's attitude, feeling their bids do not reflect a serious interest in his client.

"I feel as if I am being taken for a ride. It's not possible that one of the biggest clubs in the world allow the player to slip through their fingers for only a few million," Fuentes told Il Corriere Dello Sport.

"I am disappointed. His price is around €20m, but Sevilla could accept around €17m. The player is back from holiday on Tuesday and Sevilla want to know what Milan's intentions are."

Fuentes is not the only one frustrated with the Italians. Rojiblancos president Jose Maria Del Nido suggested the Rossoneri's initial offer was ridiculous.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The thing is that we cant even fool anyone anymore..

I am really curious which offer is the better one?
40+etoo+hleb or 93mil??
i mean which offer should be considered as the highest of all time?if the first one is accepted by inter..

what a gr8 deal for inter??what a proper way to sell a player(especcially your best one),we seem so amateurs when i read such offers..it really looks we could get much more for kaka, but we must have tried a lot "to get rid" of him(and his "subs" like gorky)..and above all we seem so unable and unwilling to keep up with other teams(juve inter)..

the worse part is that i m getting used to it,and thats what we should never do..

If I wasn't doing work, then yes. I have enough self-respect to feel ashamed at bringing home an undeserved paycheck. I would look for employment elsewhere. Many players do it when they reach a certain age. Dida,Seedorf, and to an extent Sheva lack the moral courage to accept that they are resting on past laurels. Milan lack the shrewdness not to agree to lucrative contracts.

Further, as a professional, I would actually want to ply my trade, not sit on the sidelines (Dida) or conduct myself as if everything was a backbreaking chore (Seedorf).

Milan is as legally obligated to honour the contracts as the players are. The morally bit is tricky...

Every backup goalkeeper in the world sits on the sidelines waiting for an opportunity. Why should Dida be any different? In fact, when Abiatti went down, it was a good thing somebody was there to step in and play. And Seedorf is still a capable player and can be a valuable asset to the team. Do you think this is something that's unique to Milan? Players all over the world in every sport get older and become less than they once were, but they continue to draw salaries based on their performance in previous years. And who is to say they don't deserve it? I doubt you complain too much when the players are young and begin playing at a level far above their pay grade. Most of these older guys have given valuable service to Milan in the past and they deserve some respect.

Yes but few goalkeepers get injured sitting on the sidelines :D.

Anyway, my point was as professionals we all want to grow. Dida lost his starting position after a series of high profile blunders. We are all human, these things happen.

But as such, at the age of 36, surely he must know that to win his place back into a team that has bought Abbiati as a replacement will be nigh impossible.

At least Dida made mistakes, of which he is contrite. What is Seedorf's excuse for purposefully walking? Fatigue? I don't know--complacency must figure into it. And I think that is the problem with Pirlo also.

Zenit swoop for Rosina Saturday 18 July, 2009

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alessandro Rosina is expected to leave Italy after receiving multi-million pound contract offers from Zenit and Stuttgart.

The trequartista was a fan favourite, but Torino’s relegation saw the relationship sour and this week he was involved in a shouting match with hecklers during a training session.

It is now reported in ‘Tuttosport’ that Zenit St Petersburg have offered a lucrative four-year contract to tempt him to Russia.

The talks are already on, but Toro are demanding £7m compared to the £5.5m that Zenit have proposed so far.

The buy-out clause on his contract is £12.5m, but there are other sides also interested in Rosina’s services.

Stuttgart hope to bring him to the Bundesliga, while clubs in England have been linked with the shaven-headed star nicknamed Rosinaldo.

For all those who thought we should of signed him looks like he is gone ,
I do believe if MGT have a realistic target of top 4 , 3rd a bonus and the quarter finals of the CL at best and I think a Kaka'less Milan are capable of this and Mgt know that so signings are looking more and more like a no no .

I am optomistic but for those who say the mercato is not over even ye guys have to admit its almost 2 months since Kaka and Gourcuff left with not a single significant signing, that could add to our aging slow squad.

Not even going to comment on Milan's transfer anymore as thats useless.

As for having players like Dida and Seedorf. Well, ofcourse the MGT made a huge mistake by signing them to great long deals. But like you all said, nobody wants them and thats Milan's problem. And pls don't pretend they are useful players that worth their wages, as they are not. Maybe they can perform here and there but they definitely not worth what they are getting paid.

As for the Tevez example Dev. Put it this way, let say the debt rule is in full effect. Inter is running in debt and cannot sign anyone unless they sell some of their star players. However, Morratti or one of his friends, signed CR7 for like 80mil, but then loan him to Inter for 5mil a year. That way Inter can get CR7 for just 5mil a year instead of paying 80mil transfer fees+full wages.

Ronaldinho said this:

"Our objectives get bigger, a bit like Milan. We wanted to qualify for the Champions League last year, and now we want to win it," Ronaldinho told La Gazzetta Dello Sport.

I really hope that we finally get someone, because it is getting boring listening to everyone else's transfers.

Oh and Berlu never said that Kaka's sale was meant for reinvestment into the club. It has been said, continuously that his sale was to balance our books.

If you guys want Berlu to change, then make sure he loses his seat as Prime Minister.

I think the issue with everyone complaining about the negative and "complaining" fans is not about the frustration. I have tremendous frustration, but I think the reality is that what is holding Milan back is not Berlusconi himself, and Galliani obviously does not control the money at Milan, but it is the fact that Berlusconi has a political career. It's not Milan being suddenly cheap, it's that he cannot be seen to bail out Milan now.

It's not about the young girls, it's not about Milan being a second-tier club, it's not about us needing to commit Seppuku in order to gain the respect of the Milan directors, it's that Milan is not able to use its patron's financial powers right now, plain and simple.

I also think that this summer will not be a season for transfers for Milan, anyway. Next summer is when Milan will splash the cash I think. Milan will be debt free, all the other teams will have to manage their debt, while next year many of the new TV deals will have to be negotiated, so we'll see who is on top then.

That being said, I still want Milan to do well, now. I feel that a front line of:

----Ronaldinho
--Pato----Borriello

That is a World Class front line. Milan sold Kaka, with Ronaldinho as his temporary replacement, but Pato is going to be relied upon this coming season like Messi was increasingly relied upon last year.

Pato is not a like-for-like replacement of Kaka, but he will serve as the star of Milan's team. It is the truth, that is what Milan has done, betting heavily that Ronaldinho can resurge himself in support.

I am just frustrated at us being heavily linked, to the point of agents confirming contact and all that, only for it to fall through. Even though I'm rather indifferent on Luis Fabiano (I don't rate him, but I don't think he's terrible either).

I have to admit, if Ibra goes to Barca for Etoo, 40 mil, plus Hleb on loan, I really want to strangle Galliani, because that is a much better deal than what we got. However, Zlatan is more marketable than Kaka is, from a strictly financial perspective.

Oh and since we have this love affair will all things Brazilian, anyone think Rafinha would make a good addition to Milan? I think he's class, though I have to admit after following him for a long time, I stopped last season, anyone know how he's doing?

Goal.com is saying that Braida is in Brazil to try to recruit Maldonado LB.
He has an EU passport

why do we have to go to brazil to look for a defender? italy is filled with talented young defenders, would it be too much to ask for us to try to purchase one of them?

That is simply not true. In a list put out by UEFA magazine recently of the most powerful footballers in the world (taking into account his marketability, quality etc.), Kaka' came in at number 3.

There is no solace for getting a poor deal like we did. Considering we're not getting any player for now, Huntelaar as part of the deal would have been a boon.

B and G have this concept that anything foreign is infinitely better than anything Italian. It is a curious form of self-loathing in people who come from a country that has given the football world Baresi, Nesta, Maldini, Rossi, Meazza, Buffon, Zoff, Baggio, four World Cups, Vittorio Pozzo...

Striker Adebayor completes his move to Man City

Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor has completed his move to Manchester City after passing his medical and signing a five-year deal.

Empics

Emmanuel Adebayor: Done deal.

• Wenger in no rush to replace Ade

The 25-year-old striker will cost the club around £25m where he will join Carlos Tevez and Roque Santa Cruz in a new look City frontline.

Several hundred City fans were at the stadium to welcome Adebayor, who hopes to help the ambitious club move forward.

"It made me feel really welcome and special and I can't wait to play for City's fans and show them what I can do," he declared after completing the bulk of the paperwork.

"I was born to play football and that is what I want to do. I have come here to make history for this club and those supporters. It what the chairman and the manager told me that they want too and I can't wait to get started.

Blues boss Mark Hughes is delighted to have secured the services of yet another high class international star with his peak years still in front of him.

"Emmanuel has been one of the top forwards in the Premier League since he arrived from France and we are delighted he has agreed to come and join us," he declared. "Along with the other signings we have made in the last two windows he will greatly enhance our ability to compete with the top sides.

"His arrival is another clear indication that we are determined to augment the players we have here with the best of international talent.

"He adds vital balance and power to our attack. He has everything a top forward needs. He is versatile, powerful, quick and agile on the ball. I am looking forward to working with him as are the rest of the staff. He will definitely add a new dimension to our play. I have been a great admirer for a long time."

Adebayor is expected to join up with Mark Hughes' touring side in South Africa in the next few days as City look to continue to add to their squad with the, so far unsuccessful, captures of John Terry and Joleon Lescott.

# Wenger in no rush to replace Ade

Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger says he has no plans to replace Adebayor after agreeing to sell him to Manchester City.

''We're not on the verge of signing anybody but I'm able to spend the money if we find the right players,'' he said. ''We're not in a hurry because we have a big squad. We'll see in pre-season if we need to make any additions.

''If we need to add something we will. Chamakh is one of the players we've followed and if we need to go for a striker he's a possibility. We're keeping an eye on him.

''We have Rosicky and Eduardo back so we've lost a big striker but have gained two offensive players who were absent last season. We also have Nicklas Bendtner, Andrey Arshavin, Robin van Persie and Theo Walcott who can play striker. We have top players we can use as strikers.''

Wenger understands Adebayor's desire to leave the Emirates and admitted he was joining a growing force in the Premier League.

''We'll miss him - he's a great player. I'm sure he'll give something special to Man City,'' he said. ''I don't believe that last season he got enough support and I think that played a part in his mind.

''There was a bit of resentment you could feel through last summer. I believe he wanted to do well but didn't have the confidence of the year before. If you consider the money we paid for him it was good business, but that was not our main target.

''It's a good opportunity for him because City could be a big force in the coming years. Carlos Tevez, Robinho and Gareth Barry have done it. Man City will be a threat to the top teams.''

Actually one of the problems in Italy at the moment is the lack of top class defenders being produced. Andreolli and Brochetti the most promising centre backs it is no wonder why Milan haven't brought more Italian centre backs. this generation players don't stack up at all against the likes of Nesta Maldini Baresi Gentile, you can hardly see santacrose and cheillini matching these players achievements. if we talking about side backs than Milan have been silly not to invest in criscito santon motta but such is life

Santacroce? Pasqual?

Okay maybe not as good as Baresi, Nesta, etc. but what is the guarantee that these Brazilian players are?

Hernanes's agent: For 12-13 million euros Hernanes can be had (milannews).

That would beggar us. Fiorentina or Genoa could afford him though.

there are many talented young italian defenders. you also dont know how they will develop. also look to one of them on our squad in micelangalo albertizi who started over santon at LB in the italian U-19. he is only 18 now and has a ton of talent. he is going to be part of the senior squad this year and i would make every effort to get him some playing time

Hasan I just read the Hernanes stuff as well and my reaction was the same as yours. What worries me more though is that now I think he could well become a Fenerbache player soon given our lack of action this summer.

Rick, you make a fair point about Dida, but that entirely depends on what he's willing to accept. It could be the problem for us not selling him, but even if that were the case and we were to essentially make him redundant, it's not worse than keeping him for the remainder of his contract and shelling out even more.

It's an argument that big clubs might do something like that. However, we're covering hypothetical situations about a law that's not been detailed yet, so we don't know the full extent of this rule. I do feel it's a step in the right direction, even if it doesn't curb the spending as much as we might hope. We must see it to it's full extent and see whether these loopholes are covered.

you could say the same Italian players if you buy andreolli or pasqual it isn't certain that they will be successful plus if you buy players in the same league they tend to have a inflated price. Any way most commentators and managers agree that Italy is failing to produce top class young centre backs, instead italy are producing a amble supply of strikers and midfielder players hence why paloshci is manning the bench for under 21 games and cassano is left out of the azzuri side and rossi is left on the bench for the national team. Roma is a crucible for italian talent yet the 2 centre backs in the team consists of mexes and juan if roma can produce totti de rossi aquilani and cerci why can't they produce a good quality Italian centre back?

I don't think it is just Italy that has yet to produce a Baresi-quality center back, I don't think there really are CBs that are of that quality anywhere. That being said, I think Chiellini is the closest thing Italy has to a young World Class CB. His issue is that he is a little slow and depends on a faster more agile CB to partner him.

The only reason why we highlight that sort of issue as particularly bad is that in Cannavaro and Nesta, we've had two defenders who are far more balanced in terms of their physicality and speed.

However, when it comes to FB, it seems that Italy will continue to produce top-class full-back defenders. Santon, Marco Motta, Albertazzi, Crisicto, are all the best in their age brackets.

Bochetti and Andreolli seem to have bright futures, and I don't think it would be fair to compare them to Nesta or Cannavaro now, they (Nesta and Cannavaro) emerged in a time when Italy was less pessimistic about giving youth a chance. Look at the amount of time it has (and maybe still will) take for Giovinco to make his break-through at Juve. Think about Del Piero, he came to Juve at 17, playing 15 games. At 18, he played 50.

It seems that Italians have become even more cautious with the way their use youth, but if you watched Italy's U21 Cup this summer, you'd have every reason to be happy with them. I think many of them can make the step up, but the bigger issue is that outside of Juventus, it seems none of Italy's big teams have faith in Italian CBs. Not only Milan, but Inter and Roma too. None really use Italian CBs (except Nesta at Milan) so I'm not sure if the issue is the quality of the CBs, but rather they are not being given the chance to push themselves to a higher level. Marco Motta has shined since his switch to the higher level at Roma, I don't see why others can't either.

On a unrelated note: I'm watching Chelsea play Seattle, and do you know what is interesting about the way Chelsea is playing right now? Deco is occupying that Pirlo-role of a deep-seated playmaker. Deco has lost a little of his pace, and not being particularly physical, the space afforded in that little pocket might afford him more freedom and effectiveness. Maybe?

Edit: I have to say that if you want a true potential World Class defender, take a look at Santacroce. He truly has the ability, he is a smart defender, fast, and strong, and is very committed in the challenge. Reports of him leaving Napoli for 6m are laughable. If that happens, I will personally find a way to meet up with Galliani, just to kick him in the balls.

I agree, however, I think that Milan know who their targets are, and I think reports of Hernanes going to Fenerbache are either to push Milan into making their offer, and frankly if the only team willing to hijack a move for Hernanes is Fenerbache (no offense to them) then he obviously isn't that great.

Reminds me of Rafael Sobis, who didn't exactly live up to expectations.

Side-note: Chelsea just put Shevchenko on the field, I wonder how he will do. I wonder if he stayed at Milan, would he have stayed at his world-class levels? Or would he declined like he did anyways?

Luis Fabiano secret clause?

Saturday 18 July, 2009

The reason why Milan are refusing to raise their £12.5m offer for Luis Fabiano may be a legal clause in his contract freeing him for that sum.
The Rossoneri saw their bid rejected by Sevilla and declared “insulting,” while the player’s agent confessed he was “furious” at the size of the proposal.

However, it is now rumoured that there is method to Milan’s madness, as they held negotiations with Rio – a company that owns 66 per cent of his contract.

The newspapers in Italy suggest that when Sevilla signed Luis Fabiano from Porto in 2005, there was a clause added in that they would have to sell if faced with an offer higher than £9m.

It is believed Rio will now take legal action to push through that clause and ensure the Selecao striker’s move to the more prestigious Milan.

Sevilla would like at least £16m to part with their hitman.

It is known that earlier this week Rossoneri directors met with Rio representatives, but insisted it was "a courtesy meeting."

Interesting... I think these contracts with South American players (like Mascherano and Tevez's deals) are unnecessarily complicated. I also feel that they are designed to put these players in rather tough positions.

Last summer Robinho, Berbatov, Pavlachenko, Quaresma and Milito changed clubs on the very last day of the transfer window. Many others, such as Van der Vaart, changed clubs in August. The date of a player's transfer has absolutely nothing to do with his quality.

Yep, but if I´m not wrong, in Spain, there´s a law that if you´re a foreing Club, you can´t just pay the contract clause and take the player. You need to have a agreement with the Spanish Club. Can´t remember where I saw this, but I know there is a diference...

The young are good no doubt about after watching the under 21 tournament i would be happy to see andreolli and brochetti in a red and black shirt. the point issue is that at one time Italy had defenders that had players 2 times better seating in a bar watching the game because they couldn't get into the national side. it pretty much is a consensus opinion that Italy haven't been producing enough defenders. if you to ask my older cousin who grew watching Milan best ever defence in 1991 he would laugh at the idea that santacrose or gamberini or chiellini as international Italian defenders. I would agree that it is too early to judge how good players like andreolli will be but i am certain that he will never be as good as tassoti baresi maldini or costacurta. You have to admit that at the present time Italy hasn't produced a young crop of high class defenders to replace nesta and cannavaro. I am not having a go at the quality of the side back my frustration and confusion is aimed at the lack of a missing generation of top Italian centre backs. at the point that players like baresi and tassoti retired Nesta and Cannavaro were proving themselves to be more than adequate replacements is chiellini and gamberini proving themselves to be as affective. Chiellini is the best young Italian defender at the moment but he proved himself to be at times clumsy slow and nervous not great attributes for the normally hard as nails Italian defenders. Juventus and Milan wouldn't be paying for players like Maldini Costacurta and Cannavaro to stay on if there wasn't a strong contingent of Italian players to replace them

As I said some time ago, no Italian defender(center-backs) today, would make Brazil NT, period!!!

But people want to appear more Italian than the real Italians around the Milan boards. I have some Italian friends here in Brazil, and they are really concerned about the lack of talent at the back. It´s a fact that some people don´t wanna to believe, but as I can see here with my friends, several unbiased Italians are concerned about this. Sure, Italy have some prospects, but they are what they are, prospects.

Also, my Brazil NT never had a problem with left-backs, never!! But right now, our best hope(Marcelo) is still a raw(but talented) LB that has still a lot to learn and that is playing in a wrong position.

We also never had problem with the DM position(Marcus Senna is a starter at the European Champions and wasn´t even a option here), never! But today, we only have a bunch of prospects(Sandro, Rafael Carioca, Jean), and thanks to Dunga that didn´t test them, we re going to South Africa with the likes of Gilberto Silva and Josué:rollani:

One of the secrets of Italy defenses(always overlooked), is the capacity of Italian coaches to construct a amazing defensive sistem. They are clearly master of this science, and could turn good defenders into great ones...like Canavarro.

Making Ronaldinho The Fulcrum Of Milan - A Gamble?

As this columnist had observed long back, Ronaldinho and Kaka cannot play together in the same team at the same time and the latter's departure to Real Madrid earlier in the summer must have given Ronaldinho the space, both literally and metaphorically, to explore and re-ignite himself at AC Milan.

The former two times FIFA World Player of the Year has been woefully out of form for the past two seasons and although he did excel in the beginning of the 2008-2009 campaign, a variety of factors contrived to put him back onto the bench and relegate him to the Ronaldinho of 2007-2008.

Milan coach Leonardo has already stated that the 29-year-old Brazilian international shall be given a new start and Milan have not made any moves to buy a deputy for Ronnie in the creative department. This is a clear indication that next season Milan are planning to build the team around Ronaldinho, or at least make him the creator-in-chief of their team.

Which is a gamble, isn't it? As much talented Ronaldinho is and as much he retains the audacious ability to turn the game on its head in the twinkling of an eye, the Brazilian has been off his game since the end of the 2006-2007 season and there are genuine beliefs that he is past his prime and would never become the player he was between 2003 and 2006.

So, what if Ronaldinho fails to reactivate himself? Who would enact the role of a playmaker for Milan then?

Ronaldinho, though, is already working hard to get himself back into shape, lose some weight and become fully fit again. In the last couple of seasons the man who was signed by FC Barcelona in 2003 only because they failed to land David Beckham has suffered major fitness issues and Milan have made it imperative to restore Ronnie's physical fitness.

Club supremo Silvio Berlusconi and Milan teammate Clarence Seedorf both have told Ronaldinho to work harder and it appears that the 29-year-old is following their advice. Moreover, this is a World Cup year and Ronaldinho would be eager to give his best for Milan in order to get back into the national team frame.

I.M.O, Leo better have some other tactical set-up though of, because we don't actually have anyone else worthy to play CAM if Dihno fails.....

The fact is that if Milan are going down this cheap route, then why not spend money on Italian players, who are competent and can develop further in a bigger team. If Santacroce is really 6 million then why not make a bid for him?

Anyway, my more than 10 Italian friends here say the exact opposite: Italian clubs do not rely on enough Italian players in general, and Italian defenders in particular.

I didn't say Brazilian defenders are bad or inferior. They may be the best in the world. After all, Brazil is the best footballing nation in the world.

Rick: how can you put a positive spin on the Cissokho deal? :D

I don't see how Cissokho moving to Lyon should make any difference to us one way or the other. His deal with Milan was finished weeks ago and as far as I know Milan was no longer interested in him. Apparently Lyon paid them 15 million euros, which was more than Milan really should have been paying for him even before the dental problem showed up (I had said during the negotiation I figured Milan would end up paying 10-12 million). So since I had already quit thinking about him as a potential Milan player, I'll certainly not lose any sleep over his move to France.

Let me adding some thoughts.

If it is right, if he does move to Lyon, that means either Lyon's medical is not as good as us, or is not Milan material.

I trust the judgment of the MGT here; if it is true that all the dental problems has been set up by MGT, that for me only means that the MGT in truth did not really rate him at 15M. He's just not worth it. Time will tell.

I am frustrated,

Not with the fact that we have got nothing, but with the fashion how we fail. (I can't recall from the past two decades, any other summer that was so depressing and humiliating for us, the club and the fans.)

Not that we sold Kaka (maybe we do need to balance the books) or that we got "only" 65M (I am OK with that amount), but the shameful way that we knocked on Madrid's door and basically begged.

Not that we couldn't get back Gourcuff (which I am ok with), but that Gourcuff chose Bourdeux over us and probably knowing that Kaka was leaving (I guess that Kaka was set to leave, and Gourcuff was probably informed of that as we tried to get him back).

Not that we wanted to pay cheap on Cissokho (which I am ok with), but that Galliani's claim about "the good relationship with Porto".

Not that we paid nothing on Onyewu (which I am cautiously happy with), but that again Galliani bragged about "the good relationship with Liege". (Seriously, what if this "good relationship" didn't exist yet the player wanted to come, and happened to have no contract? Why does Galliani have to brag about it? it looks stupid to me.)

Not that we can't get Hernanes or that we might lose out to Fenerbache (which I don't care), but that Sao Paolo laughed at us in a way that our club's reputation was seriously tarnished. And we had Galliani to thank for.

Not that we can't get Dzeko or Fabiano, but that we manipulated them into publicizing their intention to join Milan before deserting them.

-------

For those who know me, I am always optimistic (I still am. Even with this lousy mercato, I still believe in the team.) and was always supportive of the management (namely, B&G) until now. It is just that this summer has been, eh, very different, to say the least.

I know that you could always say the summer is long, or that maybe we will buy someone in August. Yes, all that might happen, and I am hoping for that to happen, but so far, I haven't seen any sign of that happening and I can't convince myself of that. I start to think that maybe it is true that we do only have 15 million's budget after all. If so, there is no shame in admitting it, or you don't have to admit that, but you've got to stop flirting around. Fans will be sad, but not mad.

-----------

I don't know whether it is still possible, but my wish list is short: Dzeko and one strong fullback (say, De Silvestri). We are competitive without them but I truly believe that those two will complete us. Of course, we will need luck in a healthy Nesta, a motivated Pirlo, and a healthy and motivated Ronaldinho, if we want to achieve something major this season.

IF we had got Cissoko earlier, and somehow managed to convice Gourcuff to stay, I would have said due to the current economic conditions, that it would have been a "good" transfer season for us.....

It won't take much too trim milan of its deadweights and add some much needed youth and talent..... I am sure promising youngsters wouldn't cost us in the region of 15 million or so (the region where Milan is too scared to go past), so in that perspective, we should have done more in the area. How do we save money for the future? Get a team that can qualify for the Chmapions League for the next two seasons (we already have a good base), and whilst that is happening, have promising youngsters develop either on loan or on our bench.... By the end of the two year period, you will have atleast created two or three young ones who have what it takes at top level, which would save alot of cash..... Zigoni and Beretta? Good, but we need more, as so we can choose the best from our youth pool after a two year period for our first team. Ones that simply don't make the cut, are just sold off....

AC Milan ace Ronaldinho: Ancelotti wouldn't let me play
19.07.09 | tribalfootball.com
Ronaldinho is determined to recapture his best form with AC Milan this season.

“I feel something far more important than responsibility. I feel the faith of my teammates, the club and everyone around me,” he told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Responsibility is just a consequence of that. It is very pleasing and in no way a cause for concern.”

It is reported that President Silvio Berlusconi made Ronaldinho stand on a table during a team dinner and pledge to perform to the best of his abilities this season.

“Last year I started out well, then hit a brick wall because of my injury and then as [Carlo] Ancelotti wouldn’t let me play any more.

“This time I want to have a great season from the first game to the last. My objectives increase, a bit like Milan.

“Last term we wanted to qualify for the Champions League, but this time around we want to win it.”

Johncharles you will pick a big fight here saying that. So do I;)

Italy produced legends like Baresi, Maldini, Nesta(and others), but several of the others Cb were clearly overhyped becuase the Italian passport. One of the secrets of Italy defenses(always overlooked), is the capacity of Italian coaches to construct a amazing defensive sistem. They are clearly master of this science, and could turn good defenders into great ones...like Canavarro.

Btw, this type of prejudice is what makes European clubs purchase a player like Fabio Junior here in Brazil, and regreat big time...and all this just because he is Brazilian...and, as they said: "Brazil always produces amazing forwards" :rollani:

You're right and wrong imo. No Italian CB right now (other than maybe Nesta if fit) would be able to make the Brazilian national team. However, I don't think Italy lacks young talent.

There was a generational gap with Italian CBs I'd say. There was the last great generation lead by Nesta and Cannavaro, but after that Italy didn't have any breakthroughs. Bonera, Ferrari, Legrotagglie and Barzagli were all meant to follow the footsteps of Nesta and Cannavaro but not one has managed to step up. Most were probably not good enough, though I still think Bonera has never fulfilled his potential. Another factor one must remember is that Italian defenders are renowned for their man marking abilities, which is no longer as widely used as in the past. Great defenders can adapt to the modern zonal methods, but others won't find it as easy.

Ultimately, this has now lead to skepticism about the Italian defenders. However, these days you've got guys like Santacroce, Bochetti, Andreolli and Chiellini all coming through and there's a lot of promise shown by them, and they can aptly play zonally, rather than just the traditional man marking system.

Italy's biggest problem now is giving these guys their chance to break through. Chiellini, Motta and Santon are three names who broke through at the highest level and they now have the trust to move onto bigger things. Bochetti is another quickly establishing himself as a quality defender who needs to soon move to the next level. Santacroce has it worst though, as he's shown the most promise of all, but ultimately is looking likely to lose his spot as Napoli's starter to Campagnaro. The man needs to play first team football, but this is the problem in Italy, youngsters don't get given their chance at a consistent rate to develop.

ACMILAN1983: I am laughing in disgust at Milan, not at the credibility of the story.

Meh, that's a daily chore these days ;)

Ater being used to big signings and quality players trophies and worldwide compliments its hard to go to well erm NOTHING b ut its not doom and gloom were still good enough to finish in the top 4 next year.

But what about the years after that cos when Pirlo , Gattuso , Janku , Pippo , Kaladze , Ambro , Nesta , Seedorf , Zambro , even Dinho are 2 years older how good will they be i honestly think Berlu and only him because i think if Galli could he'd spend 300 million he would but is Berlu thinking these once great players can go the Maldini and Billy route and play into there 40's because thats were we are headed .

Now i know we have potential players in the youth setup but realisticly out of every 10 prospects if 1 goes on to greatness and 2 become good players its asking alot , I hope these kids are the sh1t and come December we have a great mix of youth and experience and are riding high wave of success.

Fabiano takes Sevilla to court Sunday 19 July, 2009

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luis Fabiano is taking Sevilla to court in London to ensure he is released to Milan for £12.5m due to ‘breach of contract.’

Reports in Italian, Spanish and Brazilian newspapers today claim the Rio business who own 65 per cent of the player have begun legal action.

There is a clause in his contract that states Sevilla must release the striker if an offer greater than £9m is received, so they cannot legally reject the £12.5m bid by Milan.

The reports state that lawyer Graham Shear – who represented Michael Owen in his case for Newcastle United in 2006 – has been put in charge of the case.

It will be taken to the Queen’s Bench Division of the High Court in London, a section of the Royal Courts of Justice that specialises in cases of breach of contract.

For obvious reasons, the Rossoneri are trying to steer well clear of any controversy by taking a step back.

Vice-President Adriano Galliani already stated that he had only met the Rio representatives as “a courtesy meeting” and all negotiations for Luis Fabiano would be directly with Sevilla.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Are we going down this road if theres a release clause we should I mean Fabiano is a very good player could hit 20 - 25 goals as can pato this with a firing Dinho could be awesome go for it Galli and Id like a Lb or Cb aswell and Hernanes id be a happy man , thats a hopeful mercato though.

Real Madrid Hoping To Generate €100m Through Sales - Report

Real Madrid may have spent all summer signing players, but they are now ready to commence a massive selling operation.

According to Marca, Los Merengues are hoping to raise around €100 million from the sale of six players: Arjen Robben (€25m), Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (€20m), Mahamadou Diarra (€20m), Alvaro Negredo (€17m), Rafael van der Vaart (€15m) and Gabriel Heinze (€10m).

However, selling these players has not proven an easy task. Thus far, Huntelaar's case is the most advanced, with a €18m offer from Stuttgart on the table. The Dutch striker has not travelled to Ireland for the pre-season tour, but he is yet to commit to a move. Jorge Valdano has instructed him to make his mind up by Monday.

Negredo, meanwhile, is attracting interest from Villarreal and Sevilla, but they are refusing to pay Real Madrid's asking price. Therefore, a move to England seems most likely, and Tottenham Hotspur are the favourites at the moment. Madrid had tried to include him in a deal to buy David Villa, but Valencia were not interested.

Finally, Heinze is wanted by Marseille and his former club, Paris Saint-Germain, but they are both unwilling to match his current wages.

Robben, Van der Vaart and Diarra are still to attract any official bids. However, Madrid might compensate by selling Javi Garcia, who seems on the verge of joining Benfica, while Wesley Sneijder could be used in an exhcange deal to land Xabi Alonso, although that would not generate any money for Los Merengues.

Negotiations between Milan and Sevilla over Brazilian international hitman Luis Fabiano have stalled this week, after Jose Maria Del Nido, the President of the Spanish club, dismissed the Rossoneri's €14million bid for the striker as ‘ridiculous’.

Even though talks are expected to resume next week, Sky Sport Italia reports that Milan general manager Adriano Galliani could turn back to Roma striker Mirko Vucinic.

Galliani had apparently sounded out the Giallorossi over the availability of the 25-year-old earlier this month, before lodging a formal offer for Fabiano.

And, it is suggested that the Diavoli are prepared to put €16m plus the services of 22-year-old winger Ignazio Abate on Roma’s table in order to lure the Montenegrin international to the San Siro.

However, Vucinic is also a target for English clubs Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea, with press reports claiming the Blues are ready to splash out €25m to bring the striker to London.

When I said the truth after we sold Yoan and Kaka', that this will be a big joke where only concern is to make profit and that club and fans are not important to Berlusconi anymore and Milan doesnt need him anymore etc., I was made looking paranoic. Nice. Here you go now.

Galliani goes and signs Cissokho, who, as everyone says, is a great potential and future fullback. But he pays him 15mln. Berlusconi doesnt want to spend such money ( any money ) and he calles it off. Galliani lies and makes up this ridiculous story and makes mockery out of our club once again.

Zvonimir boban - your post about Cissokho ( that Dru commented ) is one of the worst and most subjective posts I've read in my life! I have maybe never seen such denying of truth anywhere in this mercato thread.

Braida is in Brasil? To do what? To sign Maldonado? Ma god... Im hoping he'll bring Hernanes once our CF situation is cleared. Which is also a story where Galliani has come to the bottom and is making mockery out of ac Milan. He missed all of his targets, brought few 17 year olds and is just blabbing around. Its horrible to watch. "the good connection to Morratti" - where is Maxwell? The great Perez friendship?:stupid: hahahaha...yeah. The Porto president...:r11:

Incompetent, that is the word. At least bring some good young player like Neymar from Brasil, and insert Fabiano, or something. The American CB is also a joke. Yes, an ok player, but to think he is a some kind of a solution for Milan is just a signal that we are on a new bottom. 10 years ago it would be impossible to think such player will be in Milan's first 4,5 CB's.

And not to mention the ammount of "work" Galliani does in serie a marlet - 0. When Moggi was on court he said Berlusconi asked him to work with Milan, just before the calciopoli. We had no luck aguess.

ZvonimirBoban that doesnt make a lot of sence,i mean if he wasnt a milan material or he wasnt worth the 15mil why did we made such an offer initially??

did we regret making it?
is that a serious behavour?and if we they did regreted it that is a g8 indication of how unworth trusting they are..

ps
as for the dental part i dont think we should comment it anymore, any serious doctor would find the problem, especcially when somebody else has already indicated that "problem"..cissoko passing his medical is a gr8 "insult" to our medical staff too..

Blog: Embarrassing Milan
If Milan really are going through the courts to get Luis Fabiano for an insultingly low fee, then Susy Campanale is ashamed

Lord knows the Milan hierarchy have been embarrassing lately, but this really does take the cake. First they declare Luis Fabiano is their only transfer target, then refuse to raise the offer above a pathetic – by today’s standards - £12.5m for the Confederations Cup top scorer and number one Brazil striker. Now it emerges they may well be surreptitiously taking Sevilla to court via Rio, the company that owns 65 per cent of Fabiano’s contract. This is not cool.

When clubs start resorting to such dirty tactics, it feels deeply wrong and what’s more impossible suddenly to decry the behaviour of other sides, as Milan so famously did when Real Madrid tried to tap up Kaka in recent years. It is particularly unforgivable when Luis Fabiano would have been available for around £16m – hardly a huge figure – and the Rossoneri just pocketed £56m for Kaka.

That is money, by the way, that has not been spent at all. Oguchi Onyewu arrived on a free transfer, Thiago Silva was signed in January, while all the other newcomers like Massimo Oddo, Ignazio Abate and Davide Di Gennaro are returning from loan spells. Having lost Kaka, Paolo Maldini, Philippe Senderos and Andriy Shevchenko over the summer, it is no time to be penny-pinching like this. It’s embarrassing for what was once the biggest club in Europe to be massively out-spent by Genoa and Palermo. If they can balance the books, why can’t Milan?

Let us not even get started on the lack of world class reinforcements in defence or the inexplicable presence of Giuseppe Favalli. Adriano Galliani and Silvio Berlusconi aren’t just running this side into the ground, they are sullying its image at home and abroad. I never thought I’d say this, but at the moment I am embarrassed to be a Milanista.

Sampdoria have confirmed on their official website that central defender Marco Rossi has joined the club on loan from Parma, with goalkeeper Antonio Mirante moving in the opposite direction.

“U.C. Sampdoria have acquired the sporting rights of footballer Marco Rossi from Parma on a temporary basis with a right to buy a 50 per cent stake,” reads the statement.

“Meanwhile, the club communicates that the sporting rights of footballer Antonio Mirante have been handed over to Parma Football Club on a temporary basis.”

21-year old Rossi has come through the Ducali youth ranks and impressed at the Tardini last term, drawing attention from the likes of Milan, who were ready to sign him during the January transfer window.

Mirante is a product of the Juventus youth academy and is co-owned by the Old Lady and Samp, who took up their option to acquire half his rights last summer after a loan spell in 2007-08.

Milan Could Sign Sao Paulo Midfielder Hernanes For €13m - Agent
The Brazilian’s representative claims the Rossoneri can snap up his client for a cut-price fee, but his non-EU status could prove a stumbling block...

Milan have reportedly identified Sao Paulo midfield star Hernanes as the right man to fill the boots of Italy international Andrea Pirlo, who could leave the club to reunite with Carlo Ancelotti at Chelsea.

But Joao Paulo de Jesus Lopes, the technical director of the Brazilian team, mocked the Rossoneri’s financial muscle last month, claiming that Hernanes would only be released for a fee in excess of €40million.
Press reports, however, have suggested that Sao Paulo could settle for €25m, but the player’s agent Frederico Pena is adamant there is room to negotiate a much lower price.

“At the moment, Hernanes’ valuation is not at €25m anymore, but I think that an agreement could be struck at €12-13m,” the representative is quoted as saying at ilcalciomercato.it.

“But the real problem for Milan is the player's non-EU status. I know Leonardo is keen on him, but the Rossoneri first need to free up a slot for non-EU players.”

Australian goalkeeper Zeljko Kalac could come to the Diavoli’s rescue, as he is reportedly a target for Serie A new boys Parma.
Vince Masiello, Goal.com

I never trust agents. i also never trust greedy presidents (Galliani included: He never buys high, and never sells for high!)....

I am waiting for something more official to come from this. Most likely, Pirlo will NOT leave, and Hernanes will not come. Even worse, Pirlo will leave and Hernanes will still not come!

United States
Back in 1994 when the U.S. hosted the World Cup the country was still thought of as a bit of a joke in terms of the world’s most popular sport. That summer great strides were made in growing the spot in the U.S.

Now, a decade and a half later, the country is coming off one of the most impressive runs in its history.

Results as always for the Red White and Blue have been up and down, but the peaks have been higher than ever, while the valleys grow more and more shallow with each passing year. A team that once would’ve made news just by making the World Cup is now disappointed to not climb out of its group.

While the U.S. National Team is still in search of its first major trophy, in the last decade it has climbed on level pegging, if not surpassed, every other team in the CONCACAF region while also managing to pull off a few surprising results on the world stage.

Goal.com USA’s Noah Davis and Allen Ramsey take a look at the U.S.’s best XI over a decade that could be considered the most successful in the country’s history.

Formation: 3-5-2

Goalkeeper

Brad Friedel- (1992-2005)

The Aston Villa netminder sits behind Kasey Keller in terms of all-time appearance (82 vs. 102), wins (27 vs. 53), and shutouts (24 vs. 47), but gets the nod over the Seattle Sounders keeper for play on international football's biggest stage. While Keller presided over the ill-fated 1998 and 2006 World Cup -- although he did earn man of the match honors for his performance during the 1-1 draw against Italy -- Friedel's astonishing performances in the run to the 2002 quarterfinals played a huge role in helping the U.S. achieve its best finish in over 50 years.

Defense

Tony Sanneh- (1997-2005)

The right fullback had less than 50 caps for the Americans -- 43 to be exact -- but his pivotal role in the 2002 World Cup puts him over the top at the (admittedly weak) position. Sanneh was a rock in the back, playing every minute of the tournament, and even getting into the offense with an assist on Brian McBride's tally in the upset of Portugal. "Big Cat" never reached such lofty heights again, but those five matches were enough to cement his legacy as one of the best American defenders of the decade.

Oguchi Onyewu- (2004-)

Known to most people simply as Gooch, Onyewu has earned the right to be considered one of the U.S.’s best XI with his strong performances in all competitions for the national side. A super imposing figure in the middle of the U.S. back four since 2004, Onyewu has grown as a player with each passing year. Though he was not part of the U.S.’s World Cup quarterfinal run in 2002, the big defender has been part of two Gold Cup winning sides, was a major reason for the U.S.’s first place finish in qualifying for the 2006 World Cup, and a staple in the back during the team’s run to the 2009 Confederation Cup final.
Eddie Pope- (1996-2006)

Pope was one of the strongest defensive players the U.S. ever fielded. His 82 caps included the 1998, 2002, and 2006 World Cups where he played a prominent role in the U.S. backline. His red card in the second game of the 2006 World Cup against Italy was a disappointing end to one of the great careers in U.S. soccer history, but Pope will always be remembered as one of the men who helped put the U.S. National Team, and Major League Soccer, on the map.

Midfielders

Clint Dempsey- (2004-)

The Fulham midfielder's blast against Ghana in the 2006 World Cup was one of the only highlights for the Stars and Stripes during their trip to Germany. Since that time, Dempsey, for all his talent, has been frustrating to watch, especially since he's blossomed in England but seemed uninterested in his play on the National Team. That changed during the second half of the Confederations Cup, when Dempsey's work rate increased and his production exploded. Don't forget, the decade doesn't end until December. Could there be some magic from Clint coming up? Say August 12 around 5 p.m. Eastern?

Claudio Reyna- (1994-2006)

Considered by many as the top midfielder the U.S. has ever produced, Reyna has been given honors throughout his legendary career as an American star. Beginning in ’94, Reyna was capped 112 times, played in three World Cups (he missed the ’94 World Cup through injury) and became one of the most consistent players in CONCACAF. As a deep lying midfielder, Reyna brought a level of calm and poise the U.S. had never had in the center of the pitch and has sorely missed since. Much like Pope, Reyna’s legacy may have been mired by the lasting memory of 2006, where he gave away a ball that led to Ghana’s opening goal in the final group stage match. Still, Reyna is one of the all-time greats of U.S. soccer and as responsible for the growth of the national team as any singular player.

Pablo Mastroeni- (2001-)

Thrust into a starting role in the 2002 World Cup opener against mighty Portugal, Mastroeni began to grow his legacy as the type of hard nosed player the U.S. routinely relies on in the middle of the pitch. As a member of both the 2002 and 2006 World Cup squads, Mastro, as he is known in the U.S., proved to be a competent player who’s work rate and grit kept him entrenched in the starting XI, but who’s rash challenges could be a liability. The midfielder was a mainstay on all three Gold Cup winning sides for the U.S. during the last decade and played a vital role in qualification for the 2006 World Cup.

DaMarcus Beasley- ( 2001-)

Beasley burst onto the scene just prior to the 2002 World Cup and has been a steady member of the squad ever since. As a young player Beasley’s electric pace took the 2002 World Cup by storm as his runs down the left flank troubled every defense he ran up against. In 2006 the winger assisted on the U.S.’s only goal in Germany, slotting a ball across the frame of goal after dispossessing a Ghanaian defender. In recent times, injuries have plagued Beasley and his form has dipped to the point where he was sent to the bench during the 2009 Confederations Cup, but at only 27-years-old the story of DaMarcus Beasley may not be finished just yet.

Earnie Stewart- (1990-2004)

Though Stewart’s time with the U.S. National team ended in 2004, the midfielder’s contributions in the early part of the decade can’t be taken for granted. In 101 caps Stewart netted 17 times and helped spark the U.S.’s attacks with his pace and class on the ball. The U.S.’s all-time leader in European league goals, Stewart’s contributions to the game in the U.S. went much further than what he did for the Red White and Blue as he became one of the most successful professionals the U.S. has ever produced.

Forwards

Brian McBride- (1993-2006)

What more can you say about this man? He retired from international competition three years ago, yet U.S. fans continue to clamor for his return. McBride won't ever get to 100 caps -- currently he sits on 96 -- but as the only American score in more than one World Cup, his place in U.S. soccer lore won't change. Third on the all-time points list behind Landon Donovan and Eric Wynalda, the Chicago Fire striker leaves behind a treasure trove of brilliant head goals (and a training regimen to which young Americans should aspire).

Landon Donovan- (2000-)

Don't forget, the lightning rod that is Landon Donovan was just 19 when the millennium kicked off. He's been the face of U.S. soccer for the entire decade -- taking the good with the bad, the victories with the defeats -- and, all things considered, has handled it remarkably well. During the past year or so, Donovan seems to have come to the realization that how he'll be viewed by future generations hangs in the balance of what he does during the next few years. As the decade closes, America's best field player continues to mature into his own (those David Beckham comments aside).

Friedel

Sanneh - Onjewu - Pope

Dempsey - Reyna - Mastroeni - Beasley - Stewart

McBride - Donovan

People can ofcourse disagree with him, but it is stupid to doubt his allegiance.... I can't believe we are arguing amongst ourselves!

I criticize the MGT because I only want what's best for this club.
In recent years, we have seen Milan going a bit downhill and frankly, plain believing in the MGT just isn't something to be relied upon.

I know Milan can't stay on top forever, but in these times a critique is needed to try to start turning things around.

Berlu treats Milan like some toy and marketing tool of his to be quite frank....
These days, he is getting busier, and has less time to play with his "toys," or has moved on to new ones (Young w#ores).

Those who deny such things are pure loopy..... Now MGT. has changed their mentality but no longer have the resources to provide what we REALLY need. This time, we will be buying an old former star out of NECESSITY rather than foolishnesss like before..... Get my drift?

I get your drift, mate.......
But just like some of the MM members have been saying recently, I only blame MGT's behaviour and their childish excuses.

I can understand that Berlu won't spend any money, but then just say so for cryin' out loud. Galli can't do much about it. Don't treat us like fools and make a mockery of the club in the media.

As optimistic as a lot of people are saying to be and saying that they are tired of negative posts , READ THIS and remain optimistic its all true there is no lies and Milan are fast becoming a club nobody will want to deal with , if you went into a car dealership and tried to buy a car for £5000 when it costs £13000 you wouldnt get it and if you kept going around to dealerships in the area word would soon get arount that you are joke no1 would do business with you and you would be not let set foot on a car dealership.

This is real proof of how ridiculous you people really are. Let's take your car dealership analogy from above. Let's turn this on you. You mean to tell me that if you went to purchase a car which LEGALLY you can get for 5000, you would pay 13000?? Or would you legally pursue to get it at 5000?? Who the hell cares if i'm never welcomed at that dealership again, THERE ARE TONS AROUND!!

Dont be ridiculous people. I suggest everyone find a hobby until the end of August and watch to see what happens. IF they dont make any true, good signings, I will be just as upset as everyone. But to say that we should jump at players just to appease fans is STUPID. Because guess what, that's what you guys are looking for. A rushed signing that does not make economic sense just to appease everyone.

Why doesn't everyone reach back in their brains and remember the date when Nesta signed. Sit back and relax people.

I'm sorry but that blog is utter rubbish. Firstly, the reason Sevilla are being taken to court is due to an apparent stipulation in his contract saying that Sevilla cannot reject a bid over £9m for him. The fact that they're rejecting a bid of around £12-13m from Milan means they're directly breaching their contractual agreement. Quite frankly, spending £5m more to secure him is simply idiotic given his contract. It's not dirty tactics as the article insinuates either, as Sevilla are directly breaching their contract. The Kaka-Real sagas in the past were very different, as they used the media (who wrote false reports) and supposed contact with Kaka (without Milan's consent) when "tapping him up". We've dealt directly with those who own Fabiano's contractual rights, in this case RIO and Sevilla.

Also saying the Kaka money has not been spent at all is completely wrong too. Onyewu came for free, but both Abate and Di Gennaro were on co-ownerships, not loans, and thus we had to buy back their complete contracts. We possibly covered this difference by selling off others on co-ownership contracts.

Quite frankly, I'm not excusing the management for what until now has been a very poorly conducted summer market, but this blog doesn't offer a good argument in the slightest, stating false arguments.

Of course Milan management is partially responsible for the fabiano incident, if you were to analyse Berlusconi business tactics you would discover he is one the biggest crooks of all time. Galliani probably encouraging the situation as well hoping that he can use the dispute to get a larger discount on the player. there is no question that Milan management is reasonsible we are the only party to benefit from a legal dispute between the parties. In any case it up to Milan to end this by offering Sevilla 16 million euros for the player which is pretty reasonable for a player like luis. Trust me guys spending the extra cash to end the situation is much better than getting caught up in the legal **** storm that will arise from this dispute.

The damage to Milan reputation is more considerable than a 5 million million barrier between the clubs, do you guys really expect that anyone would want to do business with Milan after we caused such fiction within the clubs after pursing their players. It is likely that if this dispute goes to court Sevilla will never do business with Milan again period unless we offer ridiculous amounts of money for the players on offer, plus i am pretty sure that in future Porto will be reluctant to do business with Milan after the Cissokho disaster.

Milan management have been consistent in spending as little cash as possible over this transfer window by all rights the 80 million euros should have been used to bring in 3 new defenders 1 midfield player 1 striker and a goalkeeper rather than robbing Sevilla of Fabiano and clearing the managements debts.

Well, if there is a clause in the Luis contract with Seville. Then Milan has every right to take that to court. THats not really a dirty trick. It is in the contract. Just like how Milan lost Gourcuff for 15mil instead of 25mil. It was in the contract.

But the article is right about Milan not spending any money at all and not worthy of calling themselves a big club.

And before Nesta other players were bought which is not the case this summer.

Yes, Seedorf was signed in July (which, if I'm not mistaken, is the month we're in now). The other signings were Rivaldo (who was with Milan for one year and played in 22 games), Dario Simic (the Oddo of his time), Jon Dahl Tomasson (who scored 22 goals in three seasons), Samuele Dalla Bona (who played four games for Milan), Leonardo (who was re-signed at the age of 33 so he could play one game and finish his career as a Milan player) and Marco Borriello (who was 20 and spent most of the next several years out on loan before being sold to Genoa -- and then bought back!).

So without the last-minute Nesta signing, 2002 would hardly have been considered a banner transfer season for Milan.

And here's something some of you might find interesting:

LUIS FABIANO IS NO RISK - LEONARDO

AC Milan coach Leonardo insists signing Sevilla striker Luis Fabiano would not be a gamble for the Rossoneri.

The Brazil international is Milan's top transfer target but their 14 million euro bid was rejected out of hand by the Spanish club last week.

Leonardo is confident they will get their man and believes he will prove to be a good signing for the Serie A giants.

"Luis Fabiano is without doubt a good player," he told the club website, www.acmilan.com. "He is the striker of the Brazilian national team and, like all deals, it has to run its course.

"I don't think you can call him a gamble for our league, because he could have already been mature at 23 years old.

"What he's lacked is a great club.

"Milan don't turn to the transfer market just to buy a name, if we do, it's because we need him.

"We have a good squad and we shouldn't be in a rush."

Milan are currently on pre-season tour in America where they will face David Beckham's Los Angeles Galaxy tomorrow.

Speculation is rife that Beckham will return to Milan in January after impressing during a six-month loan spell last season.

The England midfielder went to visit his former team-mates at their LA training ground and Leonardo admits there is a very real possibility he will be back at the San Siro soon.

"David had and has a good rapport with all of us,'the Milan boss added. "He helped us so much when he wore our shirt.

"Moreover, he is a good person and also the very fact that he came here to see us proves how much he feels for us.

"It was a really nice gesture.

"David is without doubt a very intelligent player and I don't think there is anything strange to say that he could come back into my plans, because he can fit into any system."

New Lyon Signing Cissokho Slams 'Bad Experience' With Milan

The 21-year-old claims his transfer to Italy failed because of economic reasons and he says he is happy to be playing in Ligue 1...

Lyon left-back Aly Cissokho is pleased to have joined his new team from Porto, after his move to Milan failed earlier in the summer. The starlet did, however, express disappointment towards the Serie A giants.

"It was an awful story that I lived through, it was a bad experience," he explained, according to tuttomercatoweb.

Everything looked in order, but Milan then announced that the player had failed his medical because of a problem with his teeth and the move broke down. However, the defender has suggested that the problem was not physical but financial in nature.

"Sometimes in football, problems arise for economic reasons, but now I am at Lyon, a club that I immediately agreed to join," said Cissokho.

The French giants signed the former Vitoria Setubal player for €15 million, the same price as the proposed deal with the Rossoneri.

Another Milan target, Luis Fabiano, recently made similar statements, saying he was 'taken for a ride' by the Italian club, who at one point looked sure to sign him from Sevilla.

Im not saying that I want signings on the 1st of june but the fact is and the sooner you realise it Milan has been (from a transfer point of view) horribly mismanaged for at least well honestly about 5 years and if you fail to see what is in front of your eys then you are a fool , I follow Milan always have always will but the name of the club is been dragged through the mud and for what because Silvio Berlusconi is an OAP out of touch who dosn't have a clue anymore , and the fact is the offered less for Dzeko , offered nothing for Huntelaar and tried to go back on a deal for Cissokho .

So if you don't want to read my whole post and see that MGT have on several occations offered below the value of a player then Il post for you if your going to be smart at least do it from an angle where you are right....have a nice day bye

I just want to concentrate on the match but this article seems disturbing.

It is disturbing, and I am glad you acknowledge it.

It shows our callousness and lack of self-respect in two ways. First, that we circulated around the football world that Cissokho has a medical problem, a potentially devastating canard that could have ruined the player's career. Secondly, our wretched owner is willing to sink to any depth to pay less money.

You know when Deportivo beat us 4-0, or Juve thrashed us, or when Istanbul happened, my love for my team grew. I felt pain, but I wore my Milan jersey with beaming pride.

Right now, I am ashamed not at the colours, but at the people who have become the face of my club. A licentious adulterer who cynically exploits Milan for political gain and his yes-man who would be willing to lick his boots if it meant more money.

This is a scandal that should embarrass us.

Report: Milan Consider Bid For Roma Ace Mirko Vucinic

The Rossoneri could offer €16m plus Ignazio Abate for the Montenegrin striker, if the deal to bring Fabiano to the San Siro falls through...

Berlusconi will have to get rid of the team eventually with his family intent on getting rid of the club plus he isn't getting any younger sooner or later he is going to get seriously ill or die maybe suffocating on a 18 year old girls bra strap. Berlusconi and his family have crossed too many ethical boundaries with the fans i don't think the situation is retrievable until Milan starts winning again even than Berlusconi will be hated by a large segment of milan fans. This summer could more significant than any of us realised it really could be the beginning of the end for our patron relationship with Milan. If only Maldini had the spare cash to buy and fund Milan if he was in charge of the team i would never question any decision made because he has such a connection with the fans and the team.

The difference been was Lampard,Terry and cole were and still are good quality players and the reason why Man City cant attract players in the top half of the ladder is they dont have CL football and have no prestige or history, hypothetocally speaking if we got a Billionair to splash the money im sure we could sign anybody within reason, Dzeko,Vidic,Evra,Buffon you name them, as Milan has History and Prestige

Not in the U.S., unless it's being shown locally in Southern California. Fox Soccer Channel is showing it on tape delay Monday night at 8 eastern (and a few other times this week) so I imagine it will be the same for Canada, although I know the program schedule is different up there. I don't know if there's a live internet feed or not.

Report: Milan Consider Bid For Roma Ace Mirko Vucinic

The Rossoneri could offer €16m plus Ignazio Abate for the Montenegrin striker, if the deal to bring Fabiano to the San Siro falls through...

After arriving at Atalanta’s pre-season training camp in Brentonico, Andrea Consigli has declared his desire to get straight down to work and focus on the season ahead with the Orobici.

“I am full of energy and raring to go,” Consigli declared to Tuttomercatoweb.

“I want to improve as much as possible and make a real name for myself next season.”

Despite recent transfer rumours linking the U21 international with a move to Milan, Consigli was clear that he is not affected by the speculation.

“Milan? I’m not really interested in the transfer talk and I’m only focused on doing my best for Atalanta,” said the youngster.

Following the summer arrival of fellow U21 teammate Robert Acquafresca, Consigli then gave his take on the Bergamaschi’s new hitman.

“I was lucky enough to get to know Robert during our experience in Sweden. I am happy he chose to come to Bergamo but I refuse to take any of the credit, as Robert already had Atalanta in his head before the European Championships.”

Roma Pondering Loan Swoop For Milan’s Ignazio Abate - Report

Ignazio Abate
After securing the services of Stefano Guberti from Bari over a month ago, the second arrival of the summer at Trigoria could be Milan’s Ignazio Abate.

According to Teleradiostereo the Roman club have made enquiries about the Rossoneri’s young full-back who has recently returned from a previous loan spell with Torino last season. Following the success of a similar swoop for Udinese’s Marco Motta in the January transfer window, it is believed the Giallorossi are keen to utilize an initial loan deal as they struggle to find funds for more permanent deals.

In a recent interview with Teleradiostereo, Abate’s agent confirmed the player’s willingness to sit down and discuss a potential switch. “We are ready to weigh up the offer tabled by the Giallorossi,” he declared. “I believe the foundations for a move are there, however we must wait and see how both parties respond to negotiations.”

Despite the player’s openness to negotiations, it remains to be seen whether Milan can afford to let Abate depart given their own difficulties on the transfer market this summer.

Counting down the days till Galli will come out and state that fans should be grateful Milan did not sell Mr. 4-time CL winner....the team is competitive enough....T. Silva is a new signing....Borreillo, Nesta and Kaladze are like new signings as they rarely played last year....Leo will give chances to the young kids(not like he has many other choices)....Milan did made alot of signings-recalling players, and more than any other teams in Europe....WE RULE THE TRANSFER MARKET.....

I just hope I can eat my words by Sept 1, 09
