Rick, with all due respect but letting Kaka go isn't exactly the first step to make things better.

you are obviously forgetting the supercup and the world club cup lol, it isn't losing just kaka which will make milan unsuccessful it is completely changing the ethic of team. there two options buy 3 or 4 youngsters and keep pirlo seedorf and ronaldinho or sell seedorf pirlo and ronaldinho and buy 7 youngsters. Looking at the options it hard for to see Milan accomplishing any thing soon, it is just the lack of mid twenty superstars which lead me to this conclusion. You look at players like hernanes and Dzeko and they are fantastic but they are not the finished article that why they are relatively cheap. the two scenarios are mind altering Milan are either stuck with a old first team or a young first team. Personally I think Milan should have kept kaka and built a young team around him but it is pretty obvious that milan would have struggled to find the funds for this. It was a long term solution to Milan problems if it was a short term fix milan would be bidding for Ribery and Fabregas also pursuing Benzema and Tevez. do be honest I think management expect next season to be unsuccessful.

the players mentioned could be instand hits! kaka was 21 when he came here and he was brilliant in his first season. Hernanes is 24, why cant he do the same thing? Dzeko is 23, look at shevchenko in his first season, he was also 23 or something like that and he became capacannoniere in his first season when he was 23 :)
Its not like were arsenal and playing 18yo kids!!
Well we did it once, Pato, and he saved our season in his first halfyear he played for us.
it COULD work it. but if its not, the team would still have loads of potential becouse these young players will only get better. + theyve got some really experienced players around them.

good post Rick!

Look at our star players! (before kaka left :D)
Kaka - came for 8m, wasnt a proven star!
Pato - came as a youngster, only play 1 season the first team of internacional!
Pirlo - came as a talented youngster who was on the bench at inter
Gattuso - came from salernitana I think, what did he prove before joining us.
Nesta - star player
Flamini - only 1 good season at arsenal, before a bench player.

This is the way you build a team IMO, not by buying proven stars, ok sometimes you need to, look at nesta, that was a massive transfer and our defence went a level up!

we should go on like this!
Thiago Silva - 8m!!!!! this could be a steal guys
Cissokho - 13m Sounds very promising!

this is some good scouting, it is not nessaceraly to buy proven stars.

I don't have a problem with this. In fact, I would love it. But the current management seems intent on signing old freebie players.

Now that Kaka, Gorky, and Maldini are gone, are they going to sign some young talents? Too early to tell but I now have doubts about them wanting to spend any of the newly earned transfer money.

I am happy with Dzeko, Hernanes, Miranda, and Cissokho - but in all honesty, I doubt any of them are coming. Neither are good Italians like Santacroce, Cigarini, D'Agostino, etc...

Milan overpaid for underperformers like Dida, Kaladze, Bonera, Oddo, Janku, etc...

Well our first signing is here: Cissokho. We closed the deal for 15 million euros.

He will undergo a medical on Monday.

Can this really be true? Keep in mind that there is no use to sign such players unless the coach is willing to use them properly and put faith in them. Mattioni is one case of this.
Anyway, i would prefer Milan to find relatively unknown talents for a cheap price, then getting big star names. If they flop, atleast we didn't spend too much cash. If they succeed however, it is a serious win for Milan!

I seriously doubt that after spending 15 million Milan don't intend to play Cissokho.

I hope this works out. Talking to Porto fans, it seems he is a very good player.

According to reports, this is one of the guys Leonardo wanted very badly. I'm glad to see that Milan isn't wasting time turning the Kaka cash into good young talent.

Parma’s Leonardi Urges Paloschi Not To Return To Milan
The Ducali general director has advised his young forward to remain with Parma as they return to the top flight…
13 Jun 2009 15:49:22

As Parma look to build a competitive squad for the forthcoming Serie A campaign, club director Pietro Leonardi explained the Gialloblu summer objective when he spoke to Radio Radio on Saturday.

With Milan reported to pondering a recall for Alberto Paloschi, following his successful loan spell in Serie B, Leonardi was clear that Parma will do all they can to hold on to the youngster for another season.

“When two sides want a player, it is only natural that complications arise," admitted Leonardi.

"However, I still feel that with a bit of time and common sense, it will be clear that another season with Parma would serve of most benefit for the development of the player.”

Leonardi, however, also admitted that it would be tough to keep hold of the young star and said that Parma could have to come to terms with life without Paloschi.

“If things don’t go our way then we will have to find an alternative,” concluded the patron.

Sao Paulo Laugh Off Milan Offer For Miranda And Hernanes
Sao Paulo sporting director Joao Paulo de Jesus Lopes believes €25 million is not nearly enough for Milan to buy both defender Miranda and midfielder Hernanes.
13 Jun 2009 18:50:44

Milan are known to be keen on Brazilian players, and lately they had singled out two Sao Paulo stars, defender Miranda and creative midfielder Hernanes, as candidates to strengthen their squad ahead of next season.

Hernanes in particular has already been dubbed the new Andrea Pirlo, while Miranda has been a transfer target for a while now.

The club's sporting director Joao Paulo de Jesus Lopes talked to Globoesporte.com about an alleged offer made by the Rossoneri for the two players.

"€25 million for Hernanes and Miranda? They want to pay as if they were buying a tray of bananas," he jokingly responded. "This is not an official offer, it comes from rumours generated by the Italian media."

Lopes believes Milan don't have enough money to buy both the players.

"Milan have not made up for their financial losses of last season even after Kaka's sale," he continued. "For Miranda and Hernanes it's more likely we will get an offer from a Spanish club."

Here is something interesting about a young Series B star whom we have had contact with for some time now....

Valencia, Milan & Fiorentina Interested In Parma Star Macdonald Mariga
The Kenyan has revealed that three European sides are tracking him at the moment and that he would be willing to leave the Ducali if he got an interesting offer.
14 Jun 2009 02:40:31

Macdonald Mariga, who was pivotal in Parma’s promotion to Serie A next season, told a Kenyan newspaper, The Standard, that Valencia officials have been inquiring about his availability over the past month.

The 22-year-old also revealed that Italian giants AC Milan and Fiorentina have also been in touch with his agent in regards to a possible transfer.

“AC Milan, Fiorentina and Valencia have all showed interest in me and my agent is handling the issue. Though at the moment I’m comfortable at Parma, but if I get a better deal, I would weigh my options,” Mariga said.

Last month, there were rumours in the Kenyan media that Arsenal were also following the midfielder, but it seems the Premier League club have not made any move.

Milanese interest for the former Kenya Pipeline and Tusker FC player may be genuine, given Kaka's recent departure for Real Madrid. Andrea Pirlo has also been touted for a summer move, which would create a void in the midfield that will need filling.

Mariga was instrumental in the Kenyan national team's spirited performance against Nigeria on Sunday in their 2010 WC/ACN qualifier.

James Momanyi, Goal.com

Count Valencia out of the race unless they sell the likes of Villa and Silva, but Fiorentina are major competitors for sure. He won't be so desperate to leave because Parma will be in Series A next year, thanks to our own superstar Paloaschi!

Philippe Senderos Keen On Arsenal Return
Despite recent reports that the Swiss defender wished to remain at the San Siro, the young defender could be set for a return to north London...
13 Jun 2009 19:20:12

Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos is set for an unexpected return to the club following his loan spell at AC Milan, according to The Mirror.

The Swiss defender had gone on record as saying he was not interested in returning to Arsenal, but he is now reportedly favouring a move back to the club where he made his name.

The Gunners were reportedly ready to offload the 24-year-old this summer, with Milan ready to make a bid for the defender, but this does not seem to be the case anymore.

The Italian giants allegedly passed up the opportunity to sign him on a permanent deal, worth a reported £6.3 million, and now the centre-back is set for talks with Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.

The Switzerland international spent the entire season on loan at the San Siro and was expected to complete a permanent move there, following Frenchman Mathieu Flamini, who swapped the Emirates Stadium for the San Siro last summer.

The Gunners, meanwhile, are reportedly close to concluding a deal to sign Ajax defender Thomas Vermaelen, while Kolo Toure is apparently considering an offer from fellow Premier League side Manchester City.

Former captain William Gallas could also leave the club in the summer, with Juventus believed to be ready to bid for the France international.

I Love It When Fans Jeer Me – Cristiano Ronaldo
The boo-boys don't bother the £80 million man...
14 Jun 2009 07:14:43

Cristiano Ronaldo has insisted he has no problem being jeered by crowds and that fans hurling insults simply spurs him on.

The Portuguese international, who looks set to finally make the move from Manchester United to Real Madrid in the next few days, was speaking in an interview which is due to appear shortly in French magazine So Foot.

Whilst Ronaldo is likely to receive a warm welcome at the Bernabeu, it may be a different matter should he return to Old Trafford, yet the soon-to-be Madrid man insisted it did not bother him.

“I love it when people jeer me. I love to see the hate in their eyes, to hear the insults,” he explained.

“It doesn't bother me. It's true lots of people hate me but there are even more who love me and who support me. I feel bad only when I play badly. Fortunately, that happens rarely.”
The 24-year-old also insisted that he was far from reaching his peak and that he expected to improve even further as a player in the future.

"I still have a long way to go. I really want to re-write the history of football,” he added.

“I am aware I'm already among the best of the best but I want to continue to write many more beautiful pages.”

The forward also explained that comparisons with Barcelona’s Lionel Messi were pointless and insisted he did not envy the Argentine’s talents.

"I have nothing to envy Lionel for. I don't compare myself to others,” he said.

“I am Cristiano Ronaldo - and I can win more medals than anybody else. I don't like to relax. The fans want to see a great Cristiano Ronaldo so I try to never disappoint.”

Noone mentioned that Maldini will maybe be Chalsea's coach assistant? He REFUSED to lead Milan's youth sector after being dissapointed in behaviour of Galliani and thze fans ( Galliani didnt defend Maldini ).

We are starting the new circle brilliantly: First we get rid of everything valuable - Kaka', Yoan, Maldini's presence, respect towards Milan's fans... Then we buy 4 young players and keep the old ones we pay 4mln per year. Maldini clearly showed what does he think of this Milan's managment by refusing to work with them! Its so sad :(
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

About our new signing, I havent seen the man except once, so I cant judge. Good thing is that Leonardo knew about him, followed him and asked to have him in his first 11. That frees Marek for midfield role.

Also, Milan will releaes Senderos, Sheva and Mattioni. Im seriousely hoping for Rossi or Cassano to replace Sheva, as we'll need wide spectar of forwards now when Kaka's gone.

I still cant believe we let Yoan go even dough we knew Ricky will be sold but... oh well...

The defence could look good finnally. Our problem will be the transition phase, as we have only ONE player able to change the pace - Pato.

The sale of Kaka risks us becoming an ordinary team in Serie A in terms of variety, flair and creativeness. I reckon Dihno has the flair and ability to blow the game right open at his best (but how often does that happen these days)?, but could Janko deliver that in a midfiled role as well? Best thing is to phase Janko out of the first team and give others a chance, or if the right offer comes along, sell him. A bit harsh, but realistic! A creative and pacy player is needed. Hopefully Hernanes delivers that!:horny:

treviso 2001-2002 27 appearances 10 goals, i cant seem to remember whether they were in Serie a that season. Since his move Genoa he is been a changed player i hope that he has a spell without injuries so he can show you and other milan fans that he is someone who can score 10-15 goals a season.

That season he was playing in Serie C1 I think. I hope you're right he's a changed player, but I'll remain cautious for now.

when we were linked with Gallas, we cursed the management. now I want to ask all of you, honestly how are your feelings when seeing Gallas are linked with Juve?

If I'm honest I never wanted him and am not particularly bothered should he go Juve. Similar with Dossena, I'm not his greatest fan and also Grosso, who isn't a bad player but shouldn't really be a target for us.

However, Juve clearly are aiming for some good talents. With Diego already, D'Agostino possibly on the way (though things look less likely since yesterday), Marco Motta and them apparently also targeting G.Rossi, Keirrison or Lavezzi for attack, they will be a strong team next season.

«Gli inserimenti nella nostra rosa di Thiago Silva, non ancora 25enne, e di Cissokho, non ancora 23enne, rispondono ad un indirizzo preciso. Ovvero, una squadra giovane, fresca, competitiva e con il pareggio di bilancio, risultato al quale tendono moltissime fra le più importanti società europee- si legge sul sito del club - Continueremo, nei prossimi giorni, nelle prossime settimane, a perseguire questa linea».
(Source Corriere dello Sport, link here (http://www.corrieredellosport.it/Notizie/Calcio/71604/Galliani%3A+«Cissokho+fortissimo%2C+Milan+giovane») )

Basically, to translate for those who do not speak Italian: Thiago Silva and Cissokho indicate a clear move for our club. In other words, a young, fresh and competitive squad with balanced budget. We will continue in the next days and weeks to follow this line.

I dont know how far the words of the management can be trusted, but this is one of the more positive things I have heard them say in a while.

But I am curious, having spent 15M, how much money do you expect we have left for this transfer market? I dont think we can get a striker for less than 20M, and Dzeko seems to be on sale for no less than 25-30M.

Kaka' and Gourcuff are not young and fresh players and that is why we sold them and not Pirlo, Seedorf, Ronaldinho, Kaladze, MArek. Oddo... who we could sell and earn 60mln. Galliani is full of s.... as usual. that statemant is pathetic.

Translated to REAL words that means: Milan will invest in players that do not cost more then 20mln and we'll do so by not spending a penny that we cant get back to Berlusconi. Next move needs to be Wenger then.

When Cissokho came to Porto(Porto bring him for 300 000 euros because financial crisis..bla,bla) he cost around 3 milions, now he costs 15..Question for you,in few years can he cost around 30 milion and be one of best full back in world, you are negative about this..

This move is gread, but it has nothing to do with the context of my complaing about Galliani's words and sales of Kaka' and Yoan.

Even if we sold Ricky, the selling of Yoan is like an UFO - inexplainable!

It's quite simple, he didn't perform when he had chances even if they were very few and also no-one knows how well he performed or handled himself behind the scenes in Milan (ie training). Milan loaned him out and put the clause in the contract, which was taken up. Even if we had sold Kaka first, we would have sold Gourcuff as long as Bordeaux wanted him and paid the already arranged fee. In essence we relinquished control last year and the only way he'd be back is if Bordeaux didn't buy, it's not as if they deliberately sold him after he had a good year.

I really don't know why people act like Gourcuff is already the next Maradona or Zidane and he would have been the missing piece at Milan. He has yet to prove himself at the top level, and for all the potential he has, he needs to reach it to prove people wrong.

The deal was done ages ago, we need to move on.

:5horse:

The selling of Gourcuff wasn't unexplainable. He never really impressed during his time in Milan. He was always the one with potential, but whether or not it was his own fault or Carlo's, the fact is that he never showed signs of seriously living up to that potential while he played in Milan. Carlo was still the coach when Gourcuff was loaned out and there was no particular reason not to include an option to buy in the loan deal (at a price most assumed Bordeaux couldn't afford anyway) because he wasn't really in Carlo's plans. Milan never (as so many seem to think) saw him as a replacement for Kaka (Carlo said he was too slow to fill that role). By the time Gourcuff decided to be impressive again (against the lower level of competition in Ligue 1), there was nothing Milan could do to stop him or Bordeaux from exercising the option to buy. Now he's gone, so there's really no use beating a dead horse about it (see above). There are other players out there who are just as good or will be just as good. There are some who are or will be better. Gourcuff is only a player and if he had been the key to Milan's future he probably would have played better when he was there.

Gourcuff is gone. B1tching about it isn't going to bring him back. Same thing with Kaka. Let's just wait and see who joins Leonardo's squad this summer. Milan is not and never has been about any particular player (not even Maldini or Van Basten or Baresi or any of the greats). Milan is about team. So be positive and be confident that the future will be bright.

I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot of this in the coming years (maybe not this year, but soon):

You're beginning to sound like a broken record mrki. We all think Gourcuff was a mistake, but lets not cry over split milk. Look to the future.

Galliani follows orders. It seems that the guy making the decisions now is Leonardo. Aly seems like exactly the kind of player he wanted. The club is heading in a great direction.

The only thing that eats me about Gorky is that 15 mil buyout clause that Milan put in the loan deal.
He already proved himself during this season, he's a French National player.
Everybody knew he had the talent even during his "spell" at Milan but good coaches make talented players WC and Milan staff has the reputation about keeping their players happy, they're a family....., which Milan wasn't able to do in the Gorky matter.....enough said about the famous Milan staff.

They also let Zidane slip through their fingers 'cause he wasn't fast enough, yet Dugarry seemed perfect for them...enough said.

One member also has a good sig: "we didn't pursue with Figo deal but we've got better player who is much faster - BA"....enough said.

Gorky may have turned out to be a non worthy of Milan but this would be acceptable only if he played the entire season, peanuts minutes show nothing

Cissokho is a very imporant signing which gives me hopes for the future.Galliani signed the best option and most expensive option when there was cheap alternatives like Dossena,Grosso and Pasqual.juve is trying for them, considering we have better wing backs than theirs,Galiani aimed high and signed the best LB on the market though we dont have much problem on wing backs compared to other positions.but yet Galliani can spend 15m euros for Cissokho and it gives so much hope to me for the future.

Of course, we are all different and some of us like certain players, some of us don't.
But to say Gorky was given a chance is absurd.

What I want to say in the end - Don't have to defend the management all the time, but also, don't have to attack them.
People tend to say Milan has the best this, the best that, the best transfer policy and players management, but I beg to differ - Milan has had both good and bad judgments in it's last decade or so.

Just a few points:

1. Gourcuff had not proven himself in any way, shape or form prior to the loan deal and the inclusion of the option to buy. He still hasn't proven himself at the Serie A level.

2. Gourcuff had every opportunity to prove himself during his first season in Milan. He started 18 games and subbed in 15. That's hardly "peanut minutes."

3. Gourcuff is not, never was and never will be Zidane.

4. Milan won more Champions League titles without Zidane than Juventus and Real Madrid won -- combined -- with him. In fact, Juve's last Champions League title came just before they acquired Zidane. They never won one with him.

So I wouldn't sweat it too much. ;)

He was given chances, just not a good solid run which some players need, and he had the unfortunate position of being in the same team as Pirlo, Seedorf, Kaka... 3 players who like to keep the ball. Gourcuff is a player needs the ball to do his work and he also needs to be a centrepiece to play well.

I do agree with your opinion on judgements though, very good words. :)

First of all, Gourcuff has always been a talented player, Galli was really stupid in putting in the clause, I am pretty sure at that time Galli thought Gourcuff was not worth 15mil, so why not put that amount as 30mil or 40mil.
Secondly, I thought Gourcuff had a pretty solid first season in Milan considering who was starting with him during those games. Then he got injured in his second season and never even make the bench.
Thirdly, I don't think Gourcuff is at ZZ's level yet but he has what it takes to surpass him. When ZZ was 23 or 24, he was not nearly as good as Gourcuff now.
Lastly, looking back, Milan might have won more CL than Juve and Real, but how many League titles had Milan won and if Milan did signed ZZ back than, Milan might have win more than the two they had. Once again, thats if this and if that. ANd you really can't judge ZZ by how many CL won, if thats the case, Seedorf must be a better player than Kaka, Dinho, ZZ, FIgo and others, as he won 4 CL titles. Well, maybe thats why Milan is keeping him.

selling Kaka may of proved a necessity selling Gourcuff was just a tragedy, We did lose a promising player that could be the new zidane or kaka. The thing to remember is would Gourcuff have been successful at Milan with this style of play and what guarantee did we have that Gourcuff won't get injured or have another drop in form. Depending on who Milan buys we could have bought another player with similar qualities and would be able to exploit their skill and technique at Milan. I don't think the same problem would arise under Leonardo, Ancelotti had so many great qualities but some weren't suitable for team such loyalty to seedorf and playing a set formation not adapting the team to incorporate some of the newer players. I would angry if Milan do the same in future but we at the point were we have to forget mistakes and move on.

If we sign lets say CF, Cm and CB we can say we did well to cash in the money from Kaka'. To to say we are doing great coz we are spending money from one of the top 3 players in the world we sold is not ok, in my oppinion.

I would also say its a good thing Lao seems to pick his own players, coz he knows to do that well.

Also, I would add some things in this short Yoan chat: Carlo wasnt Milan's coach when Galliani&LEO went there to talk to the man. Aftervards Galliani said Milan couldnt promise him first 11 and he didnt want to go back. MEanwhile Galliani already had a deal with Perez... to me its simply idiotic move by Galliani. But lets leave it. Some say he will not make it, I say he will. We'll see. People say: " he is not Zizzou!" No he is not, he will never be. But he an excellent polivalent player we threw away for small money whoch someone will pocket. Oh yes....balance the books...

The transfer window is not over yet, mrki. If it is so, then I am prepared to say "WE DID WELL" at the end of this summer mercato because I'm sure and I truly hope that we will sign Dzeko, Hernanes, and Mexes. And if I'm wrong then it's no harm for me. In exchange, I am also prepared to curse the management if we only bought one Cissokho at this mercato.

I won't blame anyone who criticized the management here, it's justified to do so, but my point is there are better things to be thought and to be done. Keep optimistic.

You all can beat me up all you want on this comment, but I would rather have a Cissokho, Mexes, Dzeko, and young midfielder summer instead of keeping Kaka and signing no one else.

We all worried that Milan would not re-invest and look what they've started already. They went out and got the best, young LB out there... For a couple of years now i've been screaming for a younger, faster, fluid team. If it comes to the expense of Kaka, than so be it.

For all of you who are pissed about Kaka leaving, do some research online. There are several sources out there saying that RM dished the money with a HUGE concern for his health and his foot injury. I'd rather have 4 young players than one who may sit for a few months again....

To me, Cissokho is a better buy than Grosso. On top of that 15mil might seems to be alot but remember that he is earning 1mil a season for 5 yrs. If Milan signed someone like Grosso, the transfer fee might be 5mil or so, but Grosso will demand 4 mil a year for 3 yrs.

15+(1mil sal+1mil tax)*5=25mil
5+(4+4)*3=29mil

I know the tax is 43% but it is easier to show my point using 50% tax.

If it is 4-5 good players or 1 Kaka, then it is a pretty simple question. The point is that, Milan is not a club like Arsenal, Lyon...where they need to sell their best player to raise fund for transfer. More importantly, selling Kaka is a very cowardly way out of the financial trouble. Since players who comes in will have a sum of wages more than Kaka. They should have solve this problems by not giving out great contracts to the likes of Dida, Seedorf, Emerson, BRocchi, Kaladze.... do you know that Kaladze makes about twice as much as Mexes and almost 5 times more than Santacroce?

Anyhow, don't get me wrong, Cissokho is good and all, but don't get too excited until Sept when all the signings have done.

4 Players x 2 Mil per year + Cissokho's 1 Mill a year => Kaka's 9 Mil a year contract.

If I remember correctly, Dida's on a 4 Mil per year contract, which is like the highest we have right now. Hi,
I haven't been on the site for a while, so forgive my rustiness!!! I felt that after this whirlwind summer, and we are only in mid june, that I needed to put down some of my thoughts about my beloved team, one that I have been supporting since 1989!! I will probably discuss matters that are more relevant to other sections, so bear with me!
To join in the gourcuff debate, I was never a fan of his. He might be a good player who had a strong year at bordeaux, but ancelotti soured on him quickly and that should tell us something. 99% of milan players speak very highly about carleto, so that raises a red flag about gourcuff. As one of you said, who knows what happenede behind the scenes. Maybe he expected to be handed a starting role right away and once he didn't get it, things soured. Who knows, but all i know is that Gourcuff's makeup is not milan and I think a yr was enough for the coaching staff and management to come to that conclusion. I call that the gilardino syndrome. They do well in lesser teams but can't handle milan.
As for Kaka, he was my favorite player and I was sad that he left, but not devastated as I thought I would be. As great as Kaka was/is, he is showing signs of slowing down. I also believe that he has had his eyes on madrid for a while, and it was about money for him at the end!!! Don't get me wrong, I think lots has to change with the team's hierarchy, from berlusconi becoming disinterested and acting strange, to Galliani and especially Braida's ineptitude, but on the kaka deal, i am surprising even myself, but i taking milan's side. If kaka really wanted to stay, he would have. There are always ways to work this out, and we could have sold pirlo and gattuso to chelsea for a nice sum to cover a good portion of our debts, so it's not monetary for us, but when that parasite Bosco Leite was openly flirting with real madrid since the summer of 2006, kaka could have told his dad to stop, but instead always said the politically correct thing, rather than ending rumors once and for all. Milan raised his salary on numerous occassions, where he was 2nd highest paid in serie a behind ibrahimovic, and that still wasn't enough. management finally woke up, and in the end, nearly forced him out to man city, but after that had a 6month "happy" ending, I think they had already made up their mind to sell. I will miss kaka's genius but milan will survive, and if we keep on buying another 3-4 promising players like cissokho, then I think we shall be fine!!

I haven't heard any talk about us and Hamsik, although he could be an important addition to our team, since both Kakà and Gorky left...

I have no clue who Bisewar is, but surely free agents should be something to aim for (if they are any good). The problem is though, that if we want to play along the wings we must have 2 good players on each side. Right now we only have Jankulovski who can play as a left winger higher up on the pitch.

As for GK, I think Abbiati did decently up until his injury. Are there any GK's who are better than him who we could get for a reasonable price?

This is out of the context but I bet that's somethin similar to what Milan staff said about Zidane: "He is not and never will be Marco Van Basten" ;)

Well, the important thing isn't what Milan looks like at the moment, but what Milan looks like in August. So I'm just saying that everyone should be patient and see what the squad looks like then. It seems that Milan is going after the players that Leonardo wants rather than the players Silvio or Uncle Fester are in love with. That seems like a very good thing to me.

And I wouldn't worry too much about Milan turning around and selling the players they are buying now in a few years. If they prove themselves, they will be around for a long time. This year was a special situation because two great factors happened to converge -- Milan had more debt than usual because of missing out on the Champions League last year and Milan had a player in Kaka that Real Madrid was willing to overpay enormously for in order to make a big thing out of the return of Perez. I didn't think Milan would go through with it, but I always said it might not be a bad idea if they did. Had Kaka not been sold the debt would still be there as an excuse and Kaka would be watching an aging Milan side rot around him. This way there is an opportunity for a fresh start.

And as for Zidane, remember that he was a fixture on the French NT and had several extraordinarily successful seasons in Ligue 1 before he went to Juventus. Gourcuff was merely a promising talent who was at about the same point of his career that was Zidane when he went from Cannes to Bordeaux. Unlike Gourcuff, Zidane quickly proved his worth at every stop.

Anyway, let's hope that Leonardo can work a little magic in the scouting and player acquisition department and give us an exciting team to cheer for next season! Cheers!

So, this is in Italian, so I'm a little sketchy on the details, but it seems that Mariga has indicated he would be open to a move to Milan or Fiorentina.

Beckham won over by Ancelotti
David Beckham believes Carlo Ancelotti will improve Chelsea’s fitness levels and technique, but the player’s going back to Milan.
"Milan is one of the best clubs for fitness and for working that I've ever been at. Having spent a long time at Manchester United, that is saying something,” Becks told the Sunday Mirror.

Sweet Jesus. Excuse me while I go shoot myself. *BLAM!*

And how can he say that we're the best place for fitness when the Milan Lab medical staff came under fire this season because the squad regularly resembled a MASH unit?

I think the only non-rumoured, 'not made up by sites' criticism has been from those who chose to go to Brazil and use a clinic and rehab method used there. While even us fans have had some things to say about Milan Lab the player complaints have been exaggerated by media.

Do u really think Hernanes, Dzeko and Mexes will come to MIlan for 2 mil a season?

We're talking about yearly wages, mate, so I wouldn't put it past at least Hernanes or Dzeko to.

Given how our management like to boost contracts based on performances on a yearly basis, I think starting at 2 Mil sounds reasonable.

Leonardo made changes to the medical staff.

I think Dzeko and a good, young central defender is all we need.

If any major player leaves (Pirlo, Gattuso, Seedorf, Ambro), of course they have to be replaced. Other than that, I think we're good.

I'm terribly confused right now...I didn't realize till very recently that we could only sign one out of Hernanes, Dzeko and Miranda because they are all non-EU. When Galliani said "our 2 non-EU players will be Silva and Dzeko, assuming Dzeko joins" was when it hit me. So now, I'm having a hard time deciding which one I would prefer. We definitely need a striker like Dzeko and I can't see any affordable alternatives. But Hernanes does seem to destined for greatness, which I cannot necessarily say about Dzeko. Then again, apparently we "cannot afford Hernanes". Hmmmm....dilemma....or not?

I asked the same question before, and I still haven't received my answer to the Pato question (does playing one season take him off the non-EU list?).

Apparently Miranda has an EU passport, so if we do get him, it won't be much of a problem. Hopefully the change in rules means that we can get all three of them.

As far as I know, non-EU spots are for the transfer of non-EU players from outside Italy/Serie A.

As I noted a few pages back, Miranda has an EU passport. There is no problem with him. If Serie A votes to allow an extra EU spot each year, as they're reportedly considering, then Milan could sign all three of Dzeko, Hernanes and Miranda.

Dzeko, by the way. should be more of a priority for this year because the midfield is covered. So even if the rules aren't changed, Milan could buy Hernanes in January or buy him this summer and loan him out until January.

No. Pato is still non-EU and playing for 1 year, 2,3,4,5 doesn't mean that you'll be taken off the non-EU list as long as you don't hold a citizenship with a EU country. So in another explanation just to make it more clear....Pato can play in Milan for 10 years but it doesn't do us any good if after 10 years he still doesn't hold a EU citizenship.

Anyhow, it doesn't really matter if Pato is EU or non-EU now anyway simply because he is already at Milan. Our 1 non-EU space is going to be definitely taken by Silva.....and then we have one more left due to the departure of Shevchenko. So we can get only 1 more EU......no matter how many non-EU players leave our squad now.

Having said that.....this new rule that is supposedly being discussed may be totally different and I don't know the details of that. If anyone knows anything more on it, then please let us know the details.

EDIT: Rick, I just saw your post about the noew 3 non-EU rule. If the rule goes on, are we going to have to get rid of a non-EU to get a 3rd non-EU..........or is it going to be free purchase......meaning we don't have to let a non-EU go to get a non-EU for outside Italy?......just trying to get some details on this new rule that everyone is talking about.

From how I understand what I read about it, it would simply add one non-EU spot to the existing yearly limit and so Milan would automatically have two spots left this summer instead of just the one (assuming they put it into effect immediately). So as far as I know it wouldn't require getting rid of anyone else. But they always make things as complicated as possible, so who knows?

But I was thinking that even if it did require getting rid of another EU player, it seems both Cardacio or Viudez woud be expendable. Maybe (hopefully) someone knows the finer workings of the rule better than do I!

This is why I wish that sometimes when Milan looks at South America they'd look to Argentina instead of always Brazil or Uruguay. So many Argentines have Italian passports because of their ancestors! Something was mentioned earlier in the thread about Huracan's Javier Pastore. He would be perfect because he's a natural in the same role Kaka played or on either flank and he's probably Argentina's future No. 10.

Berlusconi promised that all the money from the sale of Kaka would go to bring in new players. I guess we'll have to wait and see. Maybe once Milan had the money to use for new player acquisitions Silvio covered the debt himself to get the club back on firm financial footing. I don't know.

I seriously doubt that after spending 15 million Milan don't intend to play Cissokho.

I hope this works out. Talking to Porto fans, it seems he is a very good player.

I'd never even heard of the guy until early this morning when he was signed.

If it's true, this supposed $1M bonus on top of his deal for every trophy we win is just laughable. And B&G wonder why we're in a financial crisis.

It's generally something that lasts 1 or 2 years, not more, and anyway, why is it laughable ?

Are we going to win the Italian Cup ? I don't know what will be the plans for next year, but we never play it seriously.

That lets us with Serie A and CL, are we going to win both for the 5 next years ? I don't think so ...

PS: It's something that is often done when you buy a young player from a club ... it's just that it's not always said.

I think it's reasonable actually. When the team wins a cup there is a cash flow and who deserves some extra bonuses? the players.....yes I know with their contracts they should play their best, but a little extra incentive will never hurt the cause.

I think Milan selling Kaka wasn't ALL about covering debts...I think we might have known about his foot problem and that he will never recover 100% again. I really think thats the reason.

I hope we don't sign Mexes as there is Santacroce and we just had alot of cash coming in. I dont know where everyone's getting the rumours of Miranda but it only seems like we're linked with Hernanes (who is ridiculously expensive). I would really like to have a CM in the middle of our team, a new creative player to replace Pirlo or a new attacking midfielder (as I am not too sure R80 can cover Kaka's spot). Btw Eto'o - Pato - R80 wouldn't be so bad now would it?

If you had the choice to sign Dzeko or Eto'o for the same price - who would you go for?

You believe the 1mil bonus per trophy is laughable, but you are completely satisfied with Dida and his huge salary given his flops, falling down when a fan gets near him, and his injuries from splinters on the bench?

Seriously?

If we got rid of Dida, we could sign a few more people with his overinflated paycheck like Aly Cissokho, and have a much much much more competitive team.

My only regret is that Aly won't get to train with Maldini. That would have been a great help to him, I'm sure. Maldini could have given him tips on how to be an even better LB.

When healthy we already have Nesta, Silva, Bonera, Kaladze, Favalli and Darmian. And in serious cases, even gattuso can be played as a cb.

Adriano Galliani: We Are Building A Young And Fresh New Look AC Milan
The Milan chief gave insight into the Rossoneri future plans as they look to put the Kaka saga behind them…
14 Jun 2009 12:09:03

Speaking shortly after Milan announced their signing of Aly Cissokho from Porto, the Rossoneri general administrator Adriano Galliani was undoubtedly optimistic for the future as Milan look to build in a new post-Kaka era.

Speaking to Ansa, Galliani looked to outline the Rossoneri’s plans for the near future as they look to take a new approach from seasons past. “We are trying to build a fresh, young, new look Milan side that will leave us with a balanced budget sheet at the end of the season," he said.

“After having already added Thiago Silva to the squad who is still 24, and now Cissokho, it seems quite clear that we have addressed a specific matter that will enable us to compete with the best clubs in Europe.”

To be honest, I am not trying to be harsh and all, but just by having T. Silva and Cissokho won't put us with Man U, Barcelona, Inter and even Chelsea or Real.

What bothers me is how one signing done by the MGT and most fans already forgot how bad Milan were the past two seasons, or the fact that the deadweights are still around, or the 50/50 chance on Dinho being his best, or the departure of Gourcuff and Kaka, and most of all, when Galli specificly mentioned T.Silva with Cissokho, it pretty much means, the MGT is done with the defense.

Ofcourse I hope I am wrong and that Galli and Briada are working on Zapata and Santacroce.

Maldini already did turn down one Milan offer as a youth coach, despite the fact that he'd probably get to work with his son in this role.

There are grumblings that he was upset with the Milan fans and how they treated him, especially on his final game, and Galliani for not publicly standing up for him.

I hope he returns to Milan in any capacity that he agrees to. He's a stand up guy and a Milan legend. Many players could learn from him, so I hope that you're correct.

keep in mind Nesta, Kaka, Pirlo, Gattuso, Dida, Bonera, Boriello, Kaladze, abbiati, R80, Janku, Sanderos, (i think Ambro) were all out at some point in time. all these players except sanderos and dida, and maybe bonera could have easliy been placed in our 11 man team. Also that could have even been our starting 11 for afew games (except the 2 keepers).

As i have said before, even in a player mentoring role he would be fantastic. His auro and experience could inspire players to improve and play like the legend himself!

Same here. Just with friends casually. Had a terrible cricket accident once when I was playing serioiusly, and have since stepped away from it. Since then, i have played Australian football, and followed AC Milan.

I think it's reasonable actually. When the team wins a cup there is a cash flow and who deserves some extra bonuses? the players.....yes I know with their contracts they should play their best, but a little extra incentive will never hurt the cause.

I "defended" the fact that there would be an option of 1M to give to Porto (not the players, it's another thing) if the team wins titles.

i know i havent been here for awhile, so i am not sure if this was discussed earlier, but what are you guys opinion on Hamsik of napoli.

now idk how legit this is, but i would be open to selling him to them if it involves a hamisk swap.
http://goal.com/en/news/11/transfer-zone/2009/06/12/1320426/report-napoli-pushing-for-milan-midfielder-massimo-ambrosini

So i would go all out 15-25mil + ambro for Santacroce and Hamsik.

I like Hamsik personally, he's dynamic and has great potential. I don't see why he shouldn't become a top level player in the future.

However, if there's one player I want from Napoli it's without a doubt Santacroce.

I agree that just T.Silva and Cissokho doesn't mean we're ready to compete with the top teams atm, but I think many see it as signs of improvement and that gives hope.

I hope we'll get rid of some of the deadweight in the squad, but mostly I hope Galliani and co don't rest on their laurels now. We still need a few excellent players to come.

Still, point is I think after some really bad periods, there are small signs of recovery, and that's given hope to many.

But his sons are young ... will he move to England (I would understand if he wants to move from Italy now he is not a player anymore even if that would hurt me to see him on the bench of another team) ?

He said when he retired that he would apreciate to have a real role in Milan management and not something useless, but he also said he would firstly use his time now to be with his family.

So moving to England would be a weird choice ...

PS: And if he moves to Chelsea, his sons will go with him there ?! So it would be the end of the Maldini dinasty in Milan ... :(

It's the first time that Berlusconi doesn't seem to be too involved in this mercato ... and there are some signs, like you said ACMilan1983, that allow us to hope for a good mercato (despite the sale of Kaka').

It's strange but it looks like there will be no big name this summer, and that's not a bad thing at all ... and you know what, it looks like it is Galliani who is the true manager this time (surely, and I'm sure at 100%, with recommandations from Leonardo who was highly rated by Galliani as a scout, so maybe they did the right choice by putting Leonardo on our bench to re-build the team).

I share the optimism. The first time I read the news Milan agreed with Porto, I was very happy. This guy is young but with some experience (even not heavy one but still performances in Champions League are important). I thought that he is just Grimi, Mattioni, Viudez, etc., but his price should diminish the assumption. His price seems too much for a player who only played 6 months with Porto, but a Milan fan said that Leonardo is the one behind this transfer or recommended this player (still never read this) and we already know that Leonardo is pretty good at rating players (especially young ones).

This is a 'bet' that Milan should take, like for Edin Dzeko, also similar like what we did to Pato otherwise Milan must spend huge money not only for the transfer fee BUT ALSO for the wages (I assume, wages for players like Chissoko and Edin Dzeko are around 2 mil) for big name players, just like we have done in recent years. Chissoko like other players who only made one (or less) very good season of performances could be a flop in the coming year or even better. That's why we need scouts or people who can notice attributes that could lead the decision on buying such of these players.

Milan To Offer Roma €10 Million Plus Marek Jankulovski For Philippe Mexes – Report
The Rossoneri are showing no sign of stopping their plans to strengthen the back line...
15 Jun 2009 09:38:52

Milan are back on Philippe Mexes' tail and the Rossoneri are prepared to spend €10 million and sacrifice Marek Jankulovski in order to get their man, according to Sportmediaset.it.

It is reported the San Siro-based club will try to tempt the Giallorossi by offering them the money plus Jankulovski and the co-ownership of another Milan player. Roma coach Luciano Spalletti is believed to be a fan of Jankulovski, while Rossoneri coach Leonardo is hoping to bag Mexes so he can play alongside Thiago Silva in central defence.

Voices claim Jankulovski's high wages could be an obstacle for Roma, however, the left-back, whose contract expires in 2011, could accept a pay cut in order to move south. There is also talk that the Lupi could offer the Czech star a three-year deal should the move take off.

Despite plenty of reported interest previously, Mexes has always claimed he wants to remain at Trigoria.

Salvatore Landolina, Goal.com

Don't know that Mexes is the best option, after seeing him get burned a few times, especially aginst Pato. Yet, he is still a solid defender with loads of experience! :guw:

I think, Milan are right in the situation of Dzeko that they must be patient in dealing with Wolfsburg since (from what I read) Wolfsburg don't really need money but good players for next year campaign in Champions League. In other hand Edin Dzeko seems desperate to join Milan and rejected the salary improvement from Wolfsburg (higher than Milan offered to Dzeko).

Mexes will be good with T. Silva, as he has the size and strength to clear any cross coming in, while T. Silva will clean up behind him.
Also, 10M + Janku is a great deal. Just wish they will take Seedorf + Cash for De Rossi!!!!

A rumor I heard was Real offering 30Mil for Mexes, but I read that off Chinese site which isn't really reliable.

If they want Champion's league success, where else to look but our own team list. Pick what you want from our list of experience Wolfsburg. Seedorf, Oddo, Dida? Pick freely, just don't touch certain players. Hell, if you want Pirlo, we can do a direct swap for Dzeko, and you give us 5 million Euro!

I am ok with Mexes even there should be other better options but I disagree with people that so reluctant from him. He is probably overrated but the way people express it that he is soooo overrated (that lead to my understanding that he is just like Kaladze :D).

Oh yeah, I don't think the game against Pato can be really taken as very important point at evaluating Mexes ability. Roma were attacking and Milan got the ball and made counter attack with Pato which means Mexes must run as fast as Pato? Who can do that? Ok, Santacroce did well with Pato but did he had to run in situation like Mexes did?

From Mexes transfer I just hope the wages is not that high, not like we did before to our players (some improvement from his wages in Rome possibly).

I do not support the fact Milan is again not ready to pay for the player but are offering Jankulovski who is not slow and is actually a player with extreme stamina and running explosivity who is able to play very good as a LM/LW.

When we talk about our team we cant just look at first 11, serious team needs 17-18 good players. We need players like Marek, Antonini, Ambrosini, Bonera, Boriello...

I'd keep Marek and play him in rotation as a midfielder.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Paloschi will remain in Parma for next year also. That is the deal and its a good deal for Paloschi who needs playing time in serie a.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ancelotti is asking for Pirlo etc. I dont know if we will really sell Pirlo just so we can pay for Hernanes, as that would also be disgusting to see after all the money we made this year..

I also agree with those who say people got bought with one signing! You forgot just how much we suck and now we dont have our best player. We didnt sign D.Alves, we signed 21 year old promising player. And we all know young and promising players dont win CL, never. Its crucial Milan now keeps players like Nesta, Pirlo ( yes... now its crucial), Gattuso, Ambrosini, Inzaghi, Dinho.

Mexes is overrated as he is not as good as how people rate him(top 5 CB in the world) but still miles ahead of anyone on the Milan team with the exception of Nesta(when healthy) and T. Harsh yet so true. Problem is, at the moment we have either very young, or very old players. We need more players at the 26-27 mark, who have a future ahead of them, yet have still experienced plenty. That is why Mexes can be a beneficial purchase. We certainly don't want two newbies to Series A playing at CB next year (not disregarding Silva in anyway!). :5roma:

I think, if the news is true that Milan offer Janku+money for Mexes, that is a good move. Why should we pay much if we can pay some of the transfer fee with player that we actually don't really need? Janku can play in midfield and his movement is great IMO but his other offensive ability especially his crosses are bad. Leonardo wants to play a formation with heavy crosses and Janku can't serve this. We also need a creative player in the midfield rather than an offensive one if we want to play 4-3-1-2 or 4-3-3 system.

When we talk about our team we cant just look at first 11, serious team needs 17-18 good players. We need players like Marek, Antonini, Ambrosini, Bonera, Boriello...

I respectfully disagree with this. Milan need new quality players but not so many. Ok we lost Kaka but what Kaka's contribution last year? We managed to get points without Kaka. Our primary problem for last year is the defence (defender and how we defended).

We got Thiago Silva and Cissokho for our defence for next year. Ok, Maldini is now not playing with us but with one quality defender we should be ok. Then we need one new creative player, either to play in the midfield or to play behind strikers. For forward department we are now negotiating for Dzeko. The rest is to sell/release some players (some have been done like Sheva and Senderos) and to add some backup players (I choose experienced ones with average wages).

I'd keep Marek and play him in rotation as a midfielder.

I don't think we will do such movement. Leonardo already said that Milan do need Pirlo. It will be very weird for me to see that Leo or management will satisfy a combination of midfielders with : Flamini, Gattuso, Hernanes. This is not bad but too defensive. Even the management should know this.

I don't think that people will be happy only with one signing, this is impossible. But what I understand is that people are happy since we will make our first signing already in June and the signing is a young player who is also chased by other big clubs.

But we still have Seedorf in midfield.:pchate:

Yes, and ?
Seedorf can be very useful thanks to his experience and a good rotation from Leonardo.

Seedorf is now useless when he plays more than 30 Serie A games and all European games.

Just think about it, sell Seedorf if you want, but to do what ?
You won't buy a good midfielder with the sale of Seedorf, because at his age, don't expect more than 5M (7-8M at best) from his sale ...

PS: I'm not in the Seedorf haters bandwagon of this forum ... he was horrible this year, he was very average last year, there were some signs of decline two years ago, but he always plays. Just try to think how the player could be properly used. Too easy to say "sell him" like everyone says here. If we had to sell all the players who under-perform(ed), we would have to sell Seedorf this year, Pirlo last year, Ambrosini, Jankulovski, Kaladze, Dida, even Gattuso last year, Kaka' (oups it's done), Maldini last year or two years ago, Bonera, Ronaldinho, and actually most of our players regarding the last two years as none of them did two excellent seasons.

Just when we were starting to talk about Mexes, more Dzeko news. Again, we already know this, but some official and encouraging words from Wolfsburg:

WOLVES EXPECT SECOND MILAN BID

Wolfsburg are expecting another offer from AC Milan for striker Edin Dzeko, despite turning down an initial approach from the Serie A side.

The Rossoneri seem set to return with a second bid for the 23 year-old, with reports suggesting vice-president Adriano Galliani will visit the Northern Germany city in the next few days to discuss a deal.

Wolves general manager Jurgen Marbach would be willing to open negotiations for the right price, having already turned down a 30million euro bid.
"We don't have an official inquiry from Milan, but I have been given the impression Milan's interest is not over yet," said Marbach.

"We would not close the door to any talks. We have all the time in the world."

Reports in Italy suggest Marco Borriello may be offered to Wolfsburg as part of the deal, although the Italian does not appear keen on a move to the Bundesliga.

After a season blighted by injury, Borriello seems intent on making the breakthrough in Milan next season, while he has also has attracted interest from other Serie A sides.

Wolfsburg, as many of you said, are in no hurry to sell, and want to see how long we can hold out for. We have to stamp the foot down now and make a firm decision. Boriello + 30 million euro? That is an insult!:hammer:

I will answer like this, I'll try at least:

Why have people suddenly fallen for the talk "we have no money"? After 15 years of buying best players on earth and being led by a man who has half of Italy, we are now behaving like Lazio.

In my wiew, this money situation in Milan is completely unaceptable and under ANY normal level! That is why I keep talking how Milan needs to be sold, becouse as much as we all want, money is not here anymore as it used to be.

Everyone says that Milan couldnt sign any players if we left Kaka'+Gourcuff. WHY? Isnt it normal that a club like AC Milan keeps their YOUNG AND GREAT players and maybe sells players like Seedorf, Dida, Oddo, maybe Pirlo ( in that case ), Marek, Kaladze... and then invests ( with tv money, Berlusconi, other investors etc. ) in few players like Cissikho, CF and CB? But we keep paying Dida 4mln, Sheva, Kaladze, Seedorf etc...

So I claim: The question itself is completely wrong! It seems like you are in peace with the fact Milan now needs to sell its start to create new squad from young players. While the truth is that Milan just took 80mln and bought few young players so they can rebuilt the team that was destroyed by 3 horrible mercatos without investments and with wrong free purchases, and still not to pay ANYTHING after you count it all.

Its not the choice of the "old" or "new" squad. It was supposed to be a STRONG squad, constructed from our bandieras and our new young players like Gourcuff ( free player...), Cissokho, CB, CF.

If AC Milan is not able to pay 40-50mln per summer after selling some players WE DONT NEED, then its obvious that the incomes are closed. This is not Palermo, its Milan.

Suddenly, people are ok with the fact we cant win CL, we cant win scudetto and we talk about some future times... the reality is that Milan will now buy young players that have wages from 1-2 mln and will go for luck for fight for serie a.

And just to be honest, if Ibrahimovic stays, lets be real, Milan has no chance at all in serie a next year with this Inter.

Right now Milan has no powerfull team, if you think it has you are just lying to yourself. I will not be ok with AC Milan that does not try to build but just to make money!

Next summer we'll need to sell Pirlo to pay for GK and to cover something, then Pato etc. And people will still think its is true Milan has no money.

So if I could choose, just to answer your question concretly(sp?), I'd keep Kaka' and Gourcuff and insert Abate, Paloschi. Sell Pirlo, Seedorf, Oddo, Dida, Kaladze and invest in few new players. This, the thing we are doing now, is just lying to the fant that are turning into an optimistic group of Arsenal fans.

If we are to sell the club, better not to any Arabian oil groups. No racism involved, but just look at Man City as an example. The club has lost its sense of heritage and spirit with these crazy spendings, and people are now disrespecting them more than ever! :hmmm:

About Seedorf, he is not usefull when he is played 20 games per year and in CM between players like Flamini and Rino. Like he did last year when Pirlo was off. Then See played well. Also, I hope players will now work seriousely and not like they worked last year when some of them knew they will play first 11 100%.

EDIT:

Moratti will keep Ibra aldough the offer was 90mln. He'll invest in Deco and Carvelho after signing Motta and Millito. And still Arnautovic will be signed.

Juve signed Cannavaro, Diego, D'Agostino ( will be their player ), and will sign one italian LB. They will sell Trez and sign one Cf in his place.

I know Milan can make a strong squad, not a CL winning team but strong. but, a squad without identity and that is always in danger of selling its best player. Its a sad situation.

I only think Seedorf can be useful if he wants to be useful.

When have Milan become a club that only satisfy in making the CL instead of winning the league and CL?

As for the Milan tradition, I doubt those Arab billionare will come in and mess up Milan's tradtion, I mean, they would only come in and get the best players for Milan, thats nothing wrong with that.

Milan now have no cult figure following the departures of Kaka and Maldini. Making Gatusso captain would have furthered his repuatation, yet they chose the relatively unknown Ambroisini. Hoping that if Dzeko arrives, he will have a bit of a following in Eastern Europe where he hails from.
Who will Milan look to when we are down and under? I doubt Ambroisini has the qualities to will his men over the line in the face of adversity. Or who can grab the game by the scruff of the neck with amazing ability like Kaka once did? None of our old players can do this anymore, so we are relying on some young player to step up or for Ronaldihno to return to some accpetable form considering his high standards. :d55::irritate:

Moratti will keep Ibra aldough the offer was 90mln. He'll invest in Deco and Carvelho after signing Motta and Millito. And still Arnautovic will be signed.

The summer mercato is long ... It looks like it is Ibrahimovic who decided to stay finally (from reports, Moratti fixed a 94M price for him).

They could also lose their best player, Maicon ...

Let's wait and see before saying they did/do a good mercato. Also, there is no more rumour about Deco and Carvalho in Inter.

Juve signed Cannavaro, Diego, D'Agostino ( will be their player ), and will sign one italian LB. They will sell Trez and sign one Cf in his place.

If we did this mercato, you would say it's an horrible one except for Diego ... for D'Agostino, as far as I know, he didn't sign yet. So for moment, they just have Cannavaro and Diego.

The way you wrote about Juventus and Inter is like saying "Milan signed Cissokho (promising and already very good LB) and Dzeko (will sign soon). After them, the club is going to invest on Hernanes and Mexes/Miranda/CD."

Selling Kaka' is not loosing our identity, the retirement of Maldini is a lot more important than the sale of Kaka' for our identity ... but like it is a former player, who has also been a part of our club for the last 10 years as a scout, who is our new coach, I don't think we will lose our identity. I would worry a bit more if we also sell Pirlo, Gattuso and ... ummmh who else, let's say Nesta/Inzaghi ... or even Ambrosini or ... Seedorf !! :D

Saliwonczyk, if Berlusconi was to sell the club, I would expect him not to sell it to the richest people or the ones who offer the most but to the most passionate ones ... Arabian or not, I don't care, just passionate people who support/would support the club. Anyway, I'm not for a sale of Milan, anyway not nowadays.

Just on potential transfers, what do you guys think of the possible return of Beckham. R u for or against it? Many of you will detest him, but i think he is fundamental despite his age. Outplayed Pirlo and was the main X factor in our team with his sublimal passing. Give him another chance i say, but all depends on Pirlo, if he leaves, and his form which is dipping. :u125:

Please, tell me!

I'm for Beckham returning. He played well and could be a valuable sub/part time starter. If Pirlo or Gattuso leaves and we don't sign hernanes or another talented MF, then Beckham would be crucial. I don't want to fall back to relying on Ambro and Slowdorf.

Yes, but you have to remember he's pulling in a salary around 3.5m - 4m.

That is alot for a bench player who is , slow, underperforming, and in decline. Yes, he has experience and CL titles, etc.. but what good is it if he's terrible when he plays and slows down the entire team in the process. Whenever he touches the ball, Milan seems to go into slow motion.

With Milan in financial difficulties, they cannot afford to become a charity because gosh darn, he's a good guy.

Mexes is about three classes above a healthy and inform Kaladze.

Mexes is overrated as he is not as good as how people rate him(top 5 CB in the world) but still miles ahead of anyone on the Milan team with the exception of Nesta(when healthy) and T. Silva(can't really judge him). In my opinion, he is a top 20 CB in the world/Europe and probably top 5 CB in Series A last few years.
He is strong, tackle hard and great at set pieces. He is a better version of Rio.

i cant say i disagree although i dont think people rate him that high..i think that if he joins us he ll be one of the best for sure..thiago silva is nowhere near mexes believe me..

edit:he is more similar to cannavaro, not so rio or nesta..he is fast and always goes first to the ball(thats the characteristic that reminds of canna, nesta (and rio not that good although) somtimes w8s so as to not make any mistakes, that why he makes fewer han canna),doesnt wait fo the fw's move..you know canna and nesta are not the same type of defenders, alhtough both of them spectacular..

By getting rid of the players coach in Ancelotti (a move I liked, but pretty much all the players hated), selling the franchise player for quick cash and severely damaging the relationship with a club legend and supposed future club executive in Maldini, one can certainly argue that this team has already lost its heritage. As far as being disrespected is concerned, didn't that guy from Sao Paulo just ridiculed Milan for wanting to sign Hernanes and Miranda? When was the last time that has happened to this team? Maybe some fresh cash from the Arabs is exactly what this team needs to get some of that respect back as respect can be easily bought nowadays.

I don't think any cash bought from selling equality would be used to buy new players, firstly a proportion of the cash would be used to pay back berlusconi and the rest would be used to kick start stadium construction. If the arabs do come to own Milan the greatest legacy they could leave is a brand new stadium that makes 90 million euros a season and make Milan self sufficient . I don't think having new owners come in and spend 300 million euros on players that will be of the average age of 26 would be a better investment for the long term. Can Milan even afford huge wage bills just look at Chelsea 190 million euros spent on wages each season it unbelievable.

Look at the city rivals 310 million in the red planning to buy more 20 million euro players, it is not like they selling any top class player just surplus players. Morratti is putting Inter under huge amounts of debt in order to buy players what will be their legacy ? i doubt Milito Deco and Motta will win Inter the chmapions league so what to you gain 5 serie a titles in succession maybe it all seems pretty wasteful.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

mrki, they're just rumours about Mexes, let's actually wait to see if we get him and how. I agree we need to build a strong squad, not just first team and I agree Marek is a good squad player to have, but until Marek is gone as part of the Mexes deal, there's no point in complaining about it.

Ancelotti is asking for Pirlo etc. I dont know if we will really sell Pirlo just so we can pay for Hernanes, as that would also be disgusting to see after all the money we made this year..

Again, you're jumping to conclusions about this possibility. It seems Pirlo leaving is really unlikely, just as Hernanes coming this summer.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh, about Mexes: As I've mentioned, I've heard about it yesterday from an italian forum. I would still sign Santacroce for who Pato said he is the best CB in serie a he played against...

I don't think anyone has been bought by one signing. As I said earlier it seems that this signing is a step in the right direction, and therefore we can have some hope.

By the way, 4 years ago when I joined the forum one of my first posts (possibly my first actually) was about Daniel Alves. Back then hardly anyone knew anything about him and I said how I think he's a great prospect that reminds me of Cafu. I advocated signing him and I got replies generally laughing it off, people assuming I had been playing CM. Fact is, looking at it today, it seems I wasn't off the mark in suggesting him. Cissokho is a young and highly promising player at the moment. While we're simply referring to him atm as a 21 yr old promising player, who's to say that within a couple of years we won't be talking about a world class talent?

We're not going to play with a bunch of kids next season. Cissokho and Dzeko are young and could build a part of our future. However, we still have guys like Nesta, Rino, Pirlo, Zambrotta and Abbiati in the side to provide balance.

Edit: Forgot to add. People are saying the club are ruining relationships with Maldini. I don't think this is the case. Maldini himself has said he's dedicated to Milan. He said Berlu's words were comforting and he admitted he felt Galliani may have taken his comments personally.

Wolfsburg's Edin Dzeko Still Milan's Number One Target - Report
The Rossoneri are still busy chasing the talented hitman as new details emerge over the Italian club's plans...

Milan are busy planning a strategy to finally land Wolfsburg ace Edin Dzeko, with club chief Adriano Galliani, sporting director Ariedo Braida, and coach Leonardo discussing the possible transfer, according to Calciomercato.com.

The trio are reportedly at the club's head office in Via Turati and Dzeko is the name on their agenda. The Bosnian hitman is wanted by Il Diavolo, but his club in Germany, Wolfsburg, have been playing hardball.

Milan have already sealed a deal for Aly Cissokho, and Dzeko is now being tipped to be the next recruit. Galliani has stayed tight-lipped over the powerful hitman, but hinted that he is still a big part of the club's ambition.

"Our market is actually like this, we have been after Cissokho for over a year and we also have Thiago Silva. Now our objective is Dzeko and we are waiting for Wolfsburg. If he doesn't arrive we will look for someone with similiar characteristics," Galliani is quoted as saying on Calciomercato.com.

Milan have clearly not given up on their target, despite resistance from Germany as Galliani sends a clear message.

The cash brought in from selling part of the club doesn't have to be spent in the market as most would agree that the team needs to stop selling its top players first and foremost. If not spending too huge in the market for a couple of years would ensure the future competitiveness of the team, then all Milan fans would be fine with it. The only reason everyone is so pissed off right now is that the team spent nothing on the market for years now, and yet the future of the team still seems to be selling the best player for cash every year to finance any purchases. This team needs stability both on and off the pitch. Milan cannot try to sell one great player every year and try to replace him with some youngster that has proved nothing yet.

As far as Inter is concerned, here is the thing, no player in the world can guarantee a CL win. RM bought Kaka, Ronaldo, Villa and possibly more, but they still cannot guarantee a CL trophy come next May. The only thing a team can do is to become a better team every year so that they can have a better chance at the CL. That means, even though Deco, Motta and Milito can't guarantee you a CL win, they are still positive steps toward the big goal. Selling Kaka, on the other hand, is about five huge steps backwards toward that goal.

Love that comment about Cissokho, you just have to wonder why Galliani didn't sign him for 300.000 euro's last year then ;)

I just don't get how Wolfsburg can be so persistant about Dzeko. The player wants to go to Milan, he has two year left of his contract as far as I know. In the case that they wont sell, then Dzeko will either play two good years with Wolfsburg and then everyone will still be interested and he leaves for free after two years. Or he could play terribly for two years and then it really doesn't matter. I really doubt we're gonna pay 30M euro's, everything is in our favour in these negotiations.

In any case it looks certain that we'll get one more striker this year. Apparently Benzema is the other guy they'll look to if the Dzeko thing doesn't work. I just don't know about Benzema, he'll cost alot of money, just because he is from Lyon, but am I the only one that feels he might be a tad overpriced? Still riding the waves from the 2007/2008 season? There's still also Keirrison, anyone know how his last three months has been? He seems to have falling a bit off the radar here in Europe.

Gallaini says Milan will sign Thiago, Cissokho and maybe Dzeko or some other forward. That there are no moves for Hernanes and Mexes. He always lies and I hope he is lying again.

To the comments on my posts: Im not jumping on the conclusions, Im commenting on news and talking about them and the possibility they happen.

to M.O.I.: the pathetic thing are fans who feel fine by everything big boss does. That is exactly the tipe of fans they want right now.

to Brk: There are news Milan may "loan" the player from other team that will "buy" Hernanes. Juve did that with Mutu with Siena. So much about firm laws in Italia. We need Hernanes not to play DM like Pirlo, but to play central midfield role like old Seedorf did. Pirlo cant do that, or Rino, Ambro, Flamini 8 maaaybe to some point...), Seedorf ( cant anymore ).

EDIT:

Wolfsburg have no need to sell him for less money coz Dzeko will play in there if they decide not to sell. He'll play CL and its not problem, he'll move on eventually, he is young. And Wolfsburg are as ritch as Berlusconi actually.

Benzema maybe had a bit of an off few months but he is a rilliant player. Remember Torres in his last months of Athletico - also a crisis.

Keirisson's form is normal, I dont see him as super class forward.

I don't want Beckham to be back as it seems he played some role in the departure of Kaka' in Real (Kaka' said that Beckham explained him how it was in Real).

come on don't be naive. You think if Kaka never spoke to Beckham, Kaka would still be here? Kaka made his mind up to go to MAdrid well before Beckham arrived in Milan. Kaka was just asking advice from a player who has been in Madrid, after he decided to switch teams.

Well the difference is that Atletico Madrid are playing in La Liga, while Lyon are in Ligue 1. No offence to Ligue 1, it has produced it's fair share of great players, but if we're gonna pay 30-35-40 M euro's for a player from Ligue 1, then he better be setting the league on fire, and let's face it, that's not exactly what Benzema is doing.

He's still a young talent, and in a few years he might be the next Trezeguet or Henry, but I still don't see what he has done that would justify a 30 - 40 M euro's transfer.

I'm too naive ...

Beckham will only be able to come back in January, if we give him a 6 month contract, it's ok (until the WC), but if he comes, we are surely going to give him a 2/3 year contract, so I'm all against that.
It's the true reason why I don't want him back.

I think what he is saying is that we'd all like for our owner to splash the cash. However, that is beyond our control, so rather than complain, we have to see what he does this summer.

I can understand the frustration, but as the days go by, I get the sense that Kaka' was sold for several reasons. Money was one of them, but his injury had something to do with it as well IMO.

The more I hear about concerns over Kaka's knee, the more I think you may be onto something there. Truthfully, I thought Kaka was never fully healthy last year. Maybe had Real Madrid not been so concerned about making a big, chest-thumping, look-how-big-our-penis-is spectacle, they might have waited and been a little bit more certain of Kaka's health. We'll see.

As for brk's comment, I think you're right that he was just showing frustration over all the "the world is ending" doom-and-gloom negativity. As you know, I've been trying to preach patience myself.

But there is an extraordinary amount of this :5horse: going on.

Whether any of us agrees or disagrees with the departures of Kaka and Gourcuff, the fact is that b1tching and complaining about it isn't going to undo it. We have to take the purchase of Cissokho and the pursuit of Dzeko as a sign that Milan finally wants to do what the same people who are now b1tching about selling Kaka and Gourcuff have been b1tching that Milan should do for years now -- bring in younger talent instead of older players. We need to have faith in Leonardo's ability to judge talent (even if his lack of actual coaching experience may concern us).

And I have to laugh at the notion that Milan could have done this by selling Pirlo, Dida and Seedorf, as some seem to suggest. I think if you look back over this thread you'll find some who have suggested Milan could get 30 million euros for Pirlo and 15 million for Seedorf. Really? If you think that highly of them, why would you want to get rid of them so badly? The fact is that these are all players who are on the downside of their careers. You might be able to get 15 out of Chelsea for Pirlo because of Carlo, but that's about it. Nobody wants to invest big money in Milan's aging stars. Kaka was the only one with the star power and market value to bring a ridiculous fee.

This is the whole thing. People want Milan to buy players who are at least as established as Alves was when he left Sevilla, but they want Milan to pay less than what the market is for a Cissokho. It's just not realistic. Surely it would have been nice had Milan beaten Porto to him six months ago and gotten him on the cheap, but then everyone would have been b1tching "Well who is this guy? That's a terrible buy!"

We're not going to play with a bunch of kids next season. Cissokho and Dzeko are young and could build a part of our future. However, we still have guys like Nesta, Rino, Pirlo, Zambrotta and Abbiati in the side to provide balance.

There's the key. You need to keep some of your experienced players to guide the younger guys. If Milan brings in three or four talented young players this summer to play with the guys you mentioned, then they can gradually add more young talent in the coming mercatos and build a young, dynamic team that can compete for championships for years to come.

He signed a contract in Lyon ...
Just look at the prices of their players when they leave: Lyon constantly asks for enormous amounts of money to sell a player ... it's actually smart, if Aulas says Benzema is worth 60M, he will sell him around 40-50M which is still more than what the player is worth.

My first instinct was to put this in the Cissokho thread, but as I read through it I realized it was about something bigger.

Calcio Debate: Aly Cissokho - The Perfect Signing To Start AC Milan's Life After Kaka

Milan couldn't have asked for a better left-back to go about rebuilding their squad, writes Goal.com's Sulmaan Ahmad...
15 Jun 2009 13:35:43

Yesterday morning, I got a call from none other than Carlo Garganese. He tells me, "Milan have signed Cissokho," and I respond with a kind of bewilderment that most Milan fans have been experiencing over the past few weeks.

Losing Ancelotti, though probably for the best and encouraged by a sizeable contingent of Rossoneri fans, still felt like being jilted, with the club having gone out of their way to stand by the coach as he sunk into insignificance, only for him to jump on the first train out of town.

Or maybe that was planned. Maybe the season-long vote of confidence from vice-president Adriano Galliani was a smokescreen while the directors readied a revolution behind the scenes. What can't have been put down to pre-planning, you'd hope, was the sale of Kaka to Real Madrid.

It wasn't enough to see the bench growing mould at San Siro, to see Giuseppe Favalli move so slowly that cobwebs started forming between his one leg and the other, to see Milan fail to perform with any kind of conviction on a consistent basis. Now, they were selling their best player, one of only two in the entire squad who can still manage a sprint without keeling over and coughing up semi-digested food last seen in 1974 afterwards, and one who had designs on seeing out his whole career with the club.

With Calcio on a continuing slide of financial deterioration, it was as though Milan had no choice. All the fans could hope for was that, like when Juventus sold Zidane to Madrid in 2001 for a world record €73m, the money was spent on the best players money could buy to restrengthen all over. The fans, having long lost faith in the higher-ups at Via Turati, were not optimistic.

It is as fitting an evaluation of the manner in which Milan have been run in the past few years, then, that when I got the call from Carlo, I heard not Cissokho, but Sissoko.

To me, this seemed much more Milan. A middle-of-the-road signing in a position they already have stocked and over-stocked that would solve about as many problems for them as a new suit would for Raymond Domenech. Being a scruff is the least of his problems.

Imagine my horror and stunned surprise, then, when I came to realise the signing was not Mohammed Sissoko from Juventus, but Aly Cissokho, from Porto. Make no mistake about it, this move will prove ingenious.

I would be loathe to credit Adriano Galliani with this signing. It's so far from his usual mark that it would honestly have been less surprising to see Roberto Carlos, at 36, donning the Rossoneri jersey next season. Cissokho, surely, was a signing inspired by Leonardo.

Whoever it was, Milan need to keep going back to them for advice for the remainder of the summer. Cissokho, still only 21, made something of a name for himself against Manchester United in the Champions League quarter-final, completely dominating the left-flank in both a defensive and offensive capacity, but he's a lot more than a one-tie wonder.

He is another in a long line of golden French-African talent, of Malian descent, and he has risen through the ranks at such speed that he provides living proof that talent - real talent - stands out at any level, in any league, in any country.

Having started his career with Guegnon, in France, he was in a side that faced relegation to the third tier of French football in 2007-08, right about the time Milan were failing to get into the Champions League. He was snapped up by Vitoria Setubal and adapted seamlessly, setting alight the Portuguese Liga in just half a season.

Porto swooped in January, and the story was set to repeat itself. His star performances attracted the attention of a handful of clubs in Europe, with Tottenham thought to have been closest to signing him before, out of nowhere, he found himself at San Siro to the tune of €15m, with Porto having only paid €300,000 six months previously. His rise has been so meteoric that you're almost expecting him to sign for Real Madrid in a €30m deal in January.

This is not a No. 9 or No. 10; Cissokho plays in a position that, in most orthodox formations, is about the least significant position there is on a pitch. From full-back, he has been able to make such a compelling case for his own brilliance in such a short space of time and command a fee as high as €15m with very little top level experience - it is testament to pure athleticism, work rate and natural ability, as well as Porto's incredible scouting network and outstanding ability to get sky-high profits on their every sale.

A player like Cissokho is a real bonus in the Italian game, where wingers are scarcely utilised and there is so much more potential for full-backs to impose themselves on games. Cissokho's ability to single-handedly dominate his flank with powerful defending and roving attacks, topped with a tremendous and underrated cross, could soon put him in the same bracket as Maicon at Inter - he has far more many years ahead of him.

Thiago Silva and Cissokho in the bag, with maybe Edin Dzeko to come - certainly, Milan look like they've got the action to back up all that talk, and not a day too soon. The names might not be as big as Vidic, Lahm and Benzema, but we could talk about unavailable, overrated and overpriced options all day, Milan are so far making the best moves they can, and no fan could ask for any more than that.

We have to hold up our hands in recognition now and acknowledge Milan are finally getting it right. They may not quite be Pirlos, Rui Costas, Seedorfs and Shevchenkos - certainly not yet - but Leonardo might just have some legends in the making, and won't they just be ready to prove it when they're inevitably drawn against Real Madrid in the Champions League next season.

Plus, his loan spell here can be described as underwhelming at best. In the end, he didn't do a whole lot for us on the pitch.

Kaka looked pretty good in the Conf cup vs Egypt today.
Scored 2 goals (one a penalty) and was very lively.
Not sure how serious (or if) the lingering injury may affect his long term prospects though.

Pato didn't look too sharp though. Was disappointed with his performance overall.

For god's sake, mrki, give it a rest. You don't own the team so stop talking as if they're burning your money. Berlusconi bought the team in the late eighties and he can do whatever he god damn well pleases. If you care so much, raise the money and buy the team yourself. If you can't, then shut the **** up about the finances and support the team.

Inter-imovic........you see the connection?

About the debate here about who's happy and who's not, etc.
Let's wait for the mercato to hit full stride before we come here and criticize people and calling for their heads.

And all this....."we can't win CL next year" talk is crazy too in my opinion and is here way too early. Don't think I'm crazy.....I'm a realist and I agree that we might not be CL favorites next year......but that doesn't mean anything. I will mention Barcelona again. Untill people saw the amazing football that they played this past season, nobody thought much of them. They sold Ronaldinho and had a washed up Henry who went back into form....sort of like what some people are expecting of Ronaldinho. They also had Eto' who was up and down in form and quite frankly not many were expecting for him to have the kind of season that he had. Let's go back to another of their signings Keita....a good player but no world beater by any means. But he proved solid. Another guy was Pique....a young CB who was never a leader of a defense in a big team. He was let of of Man U because of surplus. Yes he wanted first team football too, but that wasn't going to be a given in Barca either with Milito, Puyol, Marquez. Let's also put Busquets in there who had an immense season, yet not much was expected of him. So the only signing that they made and was kind of given to be huge for them was Alves, if we kind of don't mention Hleb.

I am not completely comparing Barca to Milan by any means. So please don't come to me with the argument that they had a strong foundation of players in their prime like Xavi and Iniesta + a genius like Messi , yet we don't have that and on and on etc. I am just comparing the situations and the similarity of the transfer targets and the transfer market that they did last year and that we MAY make this year. So that's why.......let's lay of the "I am not expecting much in the CL" next year at least until the season starts and we see how the team that is built performs. After all.....nothing good came out of all the favorite tags that we were given this season.

Yeah, obviously that's what I meant. We'd all love it if Berlusconi was still actively investing, but we really can't blame him for trying make Milan a self sufficient enterprise. It's his right to do that. If having Kaka really was unsustainable, then we have to live with that. Maybe what emerges from all of this would be a leaner Milan, with energetic youngsters fortified by experience and tradition.

It sure looks like we're heading in that direction, so i'm happy. It seems like a revolution and not an implosion.

AC Milan continue to chase Wolfsburg starlet Edin Dzeko, but apparently already have a back up plan in place should they fail to convince the Bundesliga champions to part ways with the Bosnian striker.

The Rossoneri will then turn their attention to prolific Porto striker Lisandro Lopez, according to Goal.com Italia.

The 26-year-old has blossomed at the Estadio do Dragao over the past two seasons and helped Porto in their run to the Champions League quarterfinals in 2008-09. Overall, he bagged 16 goals in all competitions and has become a part of the Argentina national team set-up.

Vice-president Adriano Galliani has admitted the Italian club are searching for a hitman in order to add some more potency to their attack, especially after selling Brazilian maestro Kaka to Real Madrid.

However, Milan may have to fight off competition from Lyon, should they decide to make a move for the Porto man.

Besides Dzeko and Lisandro, Arsenal bomber Emmanuel Adebayor has also been linked on-and-off with a move to San Siro.

Dzeko is in reach, says Galliani
Monday 15 June, 2009
Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani has revealed Wolfsburg are willing to sell star striker Edin Dzeko after all.

The 23-year-old Bosnia international, who scored 32 goals in 34 games last season, is also wanted by Arsenal.

Last week, amid interest from Milan, Wolfsburg issued a statement saying Dzeko is not for sale at any price.

Unperturbed, the Rossoneri continued to negotiate and now appear to have a chance of landing the Bundesliga Player of the Year.

“Our market is actually as follows,” Galliani told Telelombardia. “We followed Cissokho for a year, and we already have Thiago Silva with us.

“The next objective is Dzeko on whom we await the moves of Wolfsburg. The argument that he is not for sale has been overcome.

“However, if he were not to come to Milan we would need a player of similar characteristics,” Galliani concluded.

Milan are currently in a phase of reconstruction after the sale of Kaka and retirement of Paolo Maldini.

Good news about Dzeko finally, now I pray they agree the price.

and I hope Leo's sees Dzeko as much better Adebayor... I'm sure Wenger will go for Dzeko if we don't...

I don't know much about Lisandro, but scoring 16 goals in the Portugese league doesn't really inspire much...

if Milan are going to attempt to sign lopez from porto as backup for missing out on Dzeko i will be content with that choice. I have seen lopez at Porto he can shoot from range his fast and keen eye for goal. to honest i would of hoped that milan missed out on Dzeko they would sign rossi or acquafresca or kerrison. And Iaquinta is another striker that I dont quite understand the hype for, I dont understand why it ever was there!

We must try for Rossi. We need to replace Kaka not by buying a player as good, but by changing the formation and playing for example a 4-3-3. Would be great to have Rossi/Cassano in such a formation.

However, in Leonardo I trust,

Grosso is maybe a WC LB for competitions with national teams ... but he is a joke with clubs for a whole season.

2great goals by rossi!!! He's one of my favourite players for a few years now, young, italian, milan fan! He would be my dream signing :)

And Pirlo is so much better playing for italia.

Just watched G Rossi in confederations cup he just kicked arse for half the match 2 goals as a substitute unbelievable see what happens when you take off Mauro Camoranesi and Gilardino lol. Toni as a striker is so poor for italy two clear headers and one one on one with the goalkeeper and he didn't score. G Rossi needs to be a Milan player soon we would dominate italy with a striker of Rossi abilities.

Well.......excuse the language.....but when you give Pirlo freedom to roam around the field and get closer to the opponent's goal......shi!t happens!!!

Let's just hope that Leonardo is taking notes!

As for Rossi....he is a great player! Not because of what he did today, but because of what he's been doing for the past couple of years with both Parma and Villareal. However.....certainly we won't sign both Dzeko and Rossi. The only way I can see that happening is if we sell Ronaldinho, but again....that's not happening this summer.

So, since Ronaldinho is staying here and according to our management will play a big part of our season next year.....take your pick:

-----Pato----- or ---Dzeko - Pato ----
Dinho-----Rossi ---- Ronaldinho

or, maybe

----Dzeko----
Pato ---- Rossi but what do we do with Ronaldinho? :) Anyhow, as far as I know....we aren't officially linked with Rossi and as Galliani said we are looking for someone with Dzeko's characteristics.

Hopefully Rossi's performance today got Silvio and Uncle Fester to stand up and take notice. I saw the other day that he's being linked to Juventus and has indicated he'd be interested in going there. I don't think I could ever forgive him for that if he does it. It was bad enough that he chose to play for Italy instead of the United States (not that I blame him for that, but I often think wistfully about how much he would have added to the USMNT). But if he were to grow up a Milan fan and then go play for Juve too, I just don't think I could take that. :w221: Better he go back to Manchester United (which, I believe, does have an option to buy him back).

Ah, well, at least three of the goals scored in today's match were scored by Americans. :D

the kid really wants to play in Italy so I can understand his choice... If Milan doesnt make him an offer, what can he do? Joining inter would be far worse and unforgivable.
And his choice for italy is logical, his parents are Italian, he is a parma youth player and his name couldnt be more italian.

Who is Jossico ?
Guys‚ I think we should get Jossico of Fenerbahce‚ I have been watching him for 3 years and he is an amazing player. He is a tough tackling Gattuso-like defensive midfielder. He was playing in Spain until last year and moved to Fenerbahce when they appointed Aragones as their manager. I watched him on quite a few occasions last year and he reminds me of a mixture of Seedorf - Gattuso‚ I think we could pick him for around 4 milyon Euros and the only reason why he is so cheap is because he is a bit old‚ I hope we dont miss out on him because I know that Juve are also after him

This is a forward line I would love at Milan next season:

Rossi-----------Ronaldinho
---------Pato------------

This way, R80 gets to play in his fav position and Pato doesn't have to play on the wing as he probably would if Dzeko (or someone like him) came. Also, we wouldn't have to use our last remaining Non-EU spot to sign Dzeko, so we could sign Hernanes or whoever.

I like that formation. I don't trust Ronaldinho to play behind two strikers, he is not a playmaker nor the player who can run in both sides.

Your personal feeling? The sentiment in Bosnia? Soothsayer?

Are you Dzeko? :)

Hasan brother, I m not Dzeko but I know people , my friend from school who used to be a teammate with Dzeko, they are very good friends, so last year we were hanging out thiings like that. So thats what he is telling me. :)

Oh, no, I don't blame him for choosing Italy at all. I know a lot of U.S. fans hold a grudge against hiim because he could have meant so much to the national team, but I understand completely that Italy is his family's heritage and that Italy also gives him a chance to lift the World Cup. I think the day will come when that happens for the U.S., but it would be a huge surprise over the next few World Cups (even if Rossi were on the team).

It would be worse, of course, if he went to Inter, but I'm not thrilled with the thought of him playing for Juve either. Hopefully (barring interest from Milan) Sir Alex will buy him back for United now that Ronaldo is leaving and it appears Tevez may as well. Then maybe in a few years he could move to Milan.

By the way, supposedly an Italian club has shown interest in Tevez. Anyone have any idea which club?

I'm not sure that Rossi wants to go back to Manchester ...
He would be a hell of a signing for us, maybe if Pirlo does 3-4 assists for him in this Confederations Cup, our management will give a look at him ??

Anyway, what is important isn't the price when he came in Villareal but the clause in his contract (as if I'm not wrong, most of the players in Spain have a clause to leave).

The clause release fee is normally a crazy sum, it is only made so that any other club can't buy the player. What counts is his recent performance. His price when he came to Villareal should be important thing. If Villareal paid 15-20 mil for Rossi, no way Villareal want to sell the player below the price they paid for the player except the player's performance is sinking.

No because I don't know if he signed any improved contract last year, but his clause was at start around 20M ...

Anyway, don't expect a lower price than 30-35M for him.

It could be true, but 20 mil ?euros? is pretty low for a release clause if it's true what wiki wrote (10 mil euros).

Villareal will ask the price you wrote but his market price should be around 20 mil euros IMO (without looking at what Real did recently of course).

20M was high because when he came to Villareal, he was an unproven talent and almost never played in Manchester ...

He definitely wants to play in Italy. I would imagine if United were willing to fork over enough of that Ronaldo money they could get him to go back for a few years, though -- especially if none of the Italian teams seem to want him badly enough. I agree that he'd be terrific for Milan. I don't know why there's never a link. It would be great if he and Pirlo could hook up on some goals in these upcoming games. A couple of especially brilliant plays against Brazil on Sunday might get Milan's attention. :rone:

If he joins juve he is lost I think. no way they want to sell him to us later if he does well! I also read Genoa was interested, that would be nice. we could always buy him from genoa if Dinho turns out to be sh*t or is too old (in a few years).
But as said above by some people, the kid will be expensive I'm affraid. And the management clearly wants a 'big' striker a la dzeko or adebayor. so I dont get my hopes on :)

Lets just hope we get to him first. Given that he's a fan like Dzeko, it might do us some good in negotiations.

I have to hand it to the appeal of our stars from the previous generation, Leo included. It seems most young players still feel the attraction of our club, regardless of how crap we've been doing in the past few years.:respect:

Not only Milan's bench to ex players, but also the pitch belongs to players who support Milan! :) Now bring back Kaka'! :) :)

Seriousely, Rossi is anexcellent player who I thinkwe could turn to when FIGC refuses 3 non eu players rule. Do not forget that in 4-3-3 we have only Pato who is class player and can cover RW place. Rossi would be an excellent solution as he would free Pato from non stop playing. Abate is there yes, but he still has to show is he the man for us, for ous first 12-14 players. And, Rossi wants to play in Italy coz Lippi told players that they need to play in serie a to be close to world cup... Dossena will be playing for Juve.

Its strange we didnt ask for any players from Madrid since Ronaldo's transfer was 93mln! Villa is around 50 ( Kaka' only 65... and Kaka' is worth much more then Villa). We could have got Huntelaar, Robben, Sneijder...its would solve some things with us.

Anyway, Dzeko and Rossi for final third would do good.

but if we buy dzeko AND rossi, we would need to sell borrielo ;)
so i could predict 20 milions for rossi, and 15-20 milions + Borri for Dzeko... i think that would be a great spending..
then, next move (if i were galliani) , 30 milions + janku for mexes and de rossi :D
so we would spend just the amount of money that we got from kaka sale..
but i doubt that we would buy both rossi and dzeko, and both mexes and de rossi....
