if it's true, I think that's good cause it'll just save us some disappointment from the season, cause the player is really over-rated by Milan fans!

I'm surprised none of you are talking about the video. Last night I was eating at home and my gf was watching this gossip show on TMZ, and she says dont u suppose ac milan, look.... and when I looked, my mouth dropped.. I saw Leonardo humping Bonera in a swimming pool for a good few seconds! It looked ultra-super-duper gay! So does this mean we will be seeing more of Bonera next year?

Maybe it was a fake Leonardo like that fake Berlusconia coming out of a building and humping at a guy against a car that was out a few years ago. :D

Maybe there could be a Leonardo look-a-like, but I doubt that he would be close enough friends with a Bonera look-a-like to hump him in the same city that both Leo and Bonera were in on that day!

It is not Leo and it was just some fun between the two guys. The Leo-lookalike was massaging Bonera and some other guy made a gay comment so the Leo-lookalike humped him. It was like field-f#!k. Also, there is nothing wrong with being gay.

yeah you guys are right thats not Leonardo.... and no boing we ain't saying the problem is that they're gay... the problem was that they're gay together...reminded me of the Carlo-Clarence relationship

meanwhile, it seems that Galliani is in a meeting with Bronzetti, it is rumoured to be about Fabiano (but I think it might be ETO'O but let's keep it quiet so we don't jinx it)

I am to comment on the quality of this player. I agree with you (on one of your previous posts) that he seems one-dimensional and that all he has seems to be speed.

What annoys me is that we (as the MGT) don't have a clear plan. We bought him back with 2.6 million from Torino only to sell him to another team? That's ridiculous. That's a mere 400K in profit, and I am sure if we let Torino keep him, our revenue would be more than that!

Hopefully it is just some silly rumor.

Will the game against America will start 7 in the morning?

What do you think of Pandev from Lazio? He wants to leave and he is on his last year of contract, may the 14m may be able to put him out of Lazio?

Even though i think that Milan should buy Fabiano for about the 18m that is suposedly asking Seville (replace him with Fred) and buy Dzeko next year getting rid of Borriello and bringing back Paloschi :B as the 4th striker :u125:
If Pirlo leaves, i think Veloso could be a great inversion that can alternate with Flamini, anyway i dont think he leaves this year

It's cause there is a double standard on this forum. People can be homophobic and get away with it. The thing is I frequent another football forum on the internet, and there are very few rules there, and so many instances of bigotry go unpunished. You just have to have a thick skin if you join--fair enough.

However, here the rules are very strict when it comes to racism, political debate etc. But when it comes to gay bashing I have seen nothing done about it. I have noticed it ever since I signed up. The Red and Black forum is even worse. It's like a convention of knuckle-draggers.

Anyway, I don't count hitmannq8 in this. He is an enlightened soul, and I have known him on this forum for years. His post was misinterpreted.

In mercato news:

Nothing seems to have come out of the Galliani-Bronzetti meeting. Sigh, another day of waiting.

1 st half vs. America is over. Here is my resume:
It was a poor performance by Milan in the first 45 min.,we had only ONE shoot on goal. First 10 min America owned us,good passing from them, than we managed to equilibrate. The defence was good, no midfield, poor attack. The palyers:
Storari--decent saves, very good back-up GK
Antonini-- good defending, poor in attack, had a huge chance to score but sends the ball wide
Janku-- like we all know he can't defend, had often runs in attack but Seedorf didn't see him. We realy need a new LB, LWB.
Nesta-- he is Nesta
Favalli-- he was secure in his interventions
Gattuso-- sorry for him, and Milan, but he was owned by America's players
Flamini-- his usual game, active in build up attack
Seedorf-- poor play, lost balls, didn't pass to janku on few times when he was alone
Ronaldinho-- had an amazing FK but hits the post, some tricks and good passing but he lost the ball too many times
Inzaghi-- with Zigoni looks like he is alone in the attack, so nothing
Zigoni-- I think he touched the ball 1-2 times
I'll be back with the 2nd half resume.

We're losing, yay! It was so expected.

Rino being incited by the opposition players now.

Oh, but what really woke me up was when the substitution for Abate was being made

The screen said

Abate: Entree
Seedorf: Sale :D

1=1 Pippo again, with a perfectly floated pass from Flamini.
This is bad, how long are we going to have to rely on Pippo for our all important goals?
We need someone to give him some time off.

I was happy to see youngsters playing well. We have got a real jewel in the making in Zigoni. Strasser was also intense. I hope Leo can develop these two guys.

Our Midfield is not good enough. All our creative play comes from Ronaldinho. I guess that is because we are missing Pirlo. I hope he joins the team asap. Onyewu used his height well. If he develops further I see no reason why he can't be our starting CB.

Considering the players's we are missing, I think we played well. Don't pay attention to the results too much, it is the play that matters.

The games in this tournament have been very intense. All teams are serious and players are tackling hard. It will be interesting to see how we fare against the fresh looking Chelski. It will be a very good test of our defense against Drog, Anelka and Lampard.

FT AC Milan- America CF 1-2 :(
We were to nervous for a friendly game.
Gattuso was owned in the 2nd half also and received an yellow card. Same for Janku.
Changes in the 2nd half for Milan:
Onyewu in for Nesta on 45'
Abate in for Seedorf on 60'
Zambro in for Antonini in 69'
Strasser in for Gattu on 75'
Harmony in for Flams on 79'
Milan had a good start of 2nd half. A good 1-2 between Roonie and Seedorf, who shoots and a good save from America's GK. On the corner kick, Zigoni hits the post. Then a good passing move from America and they scored 0-1,a header, with a bit of help from Onyewu who was to static. We managed to respond quickly and after an great counter-attack Pippo scores 1-1 after an excelent pass ,over America's defence, from Flamini. After the goal we played poorly again, just a great FK again from R80 but america's GK saves it.From 75 min when Strasser and Harmony got in we lacked so much in passing, and America scored again 1-2, another header, Zambro's fault my guess. From the 90' till 93' we played better and had an huge chance in 91' but Zigoni, alone, from 6-7 m sends it wide. In the 93' a FK from 30-35 m but R80 managed to send it to center and America's GK have no problem. 93 FT and we lost. But is was only our 3rd game this season, and it was after Sunday's game. Yoy may say "SO WHAT?".
Overall it was a poor-mediocre performance by Milan. WE NEED IMPROVEMENTS, Roonie can't play and win a game by himself, he needs help from MIDFIELD, like he had in Barca, we need players like Xavi and Iniesta. Flamini for me is a starter for Milan this season. Pirlo+Hernanes (or other good player will be fine for our MID). Also we need an LB/LWB, hope Braida will come with something from South America. Today we missed Nesta so much in the 2nd half, hope he'll be fine this season. I think Leo or other should have an eye in some players for America CF, they are very skilled. Only well. FORZA MILAN!!!

I think we have to put things into perspective: this is pre-season.

Leonardo has a job similar to Lippi with Italy, in what sense? He has to see what players from the old guard he can still rely upon.

Ronaldinho has not been as effective as he can be, mostly because he is having to go deeper and deeper to get the ball. Seedorf is supposed to be the passing and creative force in our center, but it seems that he is not doing that job well (which he has done well in the past).

I really think Pirlo is far more important to Milan than we really think. It also is difficult for Milan to play without the outlet of Pato or Boriello. Any game where Inzaghi is checking back to actually dribble with the ball, means that something is going wrong.

We also have to hold that clubs like Club America take these games far more serious than our players (which I think is unfortunate) but many players know what their role will be and are frankly playing with that in mind. Ronaldinho cannot be a playmaker from that deep in midfield, without having midfielders, wingers, or strikers with the sort of movement and skill that he had at Barca.

Ronaldinho will be far more effective with Pirlo is midfield, who will be able to spray passes to our full-backs, rather than expecting them to push forward with the ball rather than to the ball. I also have to say Inzaghi is an ever-green, and I think that lack of a physical presence upfront really showed, Boriello I think does dirty work but one that benefits our more light-weight players. Zigoni is 18, and you can tell he was over thinking, things did not go right for him immediately, which is common among youth players, who are used to dominating their peers. They lose their composure, their confidence, and start doing things they wouldn't normally do. This is very typical of young strikers, especially.

However, I have to say that Abate seems to be more than a one-dimensional speed demon, he has a wicked shot and I think he was also nervous finally playing in Milan colors. I think as he settles down with the idea of finally being back where he belongs, he will be able to have more confidence with the ball. I also wish Di Gennaro was given another shot.

Strasser seems to have similar grit of Gattuso, which I like. However, I have to say, at this point I would rather keep Pirlo then sell him for Hernanes. The midfield's speed is not the issue, a ball can always move faster than a player, however, the issue is the outlet up-top, and by making Ronaldinho and Inzaghi come further and further back for the ball, the team loses shape, and our midfield seems directed towards destruction rather than playmaking.

A question I was asked by several coaches was whether it was more detrimental to have a bad central defender or center forward. I think if you have a midfield that can hold the ball, a bad center forward is worse. When you don't have someone to relieve pressure, you will have a terrible time trying to play.

That being said, I think we underestimate the role Pato, Pirlo, Boriello, and Thiago Silva have for this team. I think Thiago Silva gives more channeled athleticism than Onyewu does. Onyewu seems designed for teams that sit back, but the way he had his back to the attacker, rather than being along-side him will be hammered out of him (hopefully).

I think Antonini is pretty good, but not good enough to be a day-in-day-out starter for Milan. I have full confidence in Zambrotta consistency, but I think we will find out left full-back spot to be a major weakness, unless Janku can turn up, or if Oddo decides to play like he can, pushing Zambro left, it seems Milan's weak-link will be our left side.

I'm not sure if Milan really need to be revolutionized, but I think we are missing too many of our squad to really judge. I think if we had everyone fit and ready, and they played like they did today, then I would be worried. But Pato up top, Thiago Silva in the back, Pirlo in the center, it's amazing what a difference that would make for us. I think more pressing than a center-forward is a left-back, because it seems all the goals we've conceded in pre-season have come from that side.

You know, I don't think Grosso would be a bad option. Considering that Cissoko should have been here, I guess I'll take Grosso, though Crisicto would be better.

I really will be dissappointed if we don't get a new LB, because frankly, I have faith that Ronaldinho, Pato, Boriello, and Inzaghi can provide enough goals for us. Sure, I'd like to have another striker, but, if I had to choose between a striker and a LB for Milan, I'd have to take the left-back.

Without Nesta, not counting Silva yet, our def is horrible. Kalac has to go too. Storari although not great is surely better than him.

Dembele is a fantastic player!! He is a very skilfull attacker who is very strong on the ball. his dribbling skills are amazing. BUT he isnt the striker we look for, he isnt a goalscorer, he needs to work on this!! also most of the times he isnt used as a striker, more as a winger.

After staying up way past bedtime to watch the game I was dissapointed , sure it was only a friendly but we are carrying some dead weight we know who it is no need to name and shame , Dinho is definately trying how long it will last IDK but he cannot do it on his own the guy needs support to help him out.

Zigoni is just a kid and was nervous Pippo well we don't call him Super Pippo for nothing the guy just takes my breath away , but that said I couldn't possibly contemplate starting the season and expecting/hoping he can play all season.

I have faith in Borriello he had a rough time last season and if he finds Genoa form that and Pato Pirlo (who we cannot afford to lose without a just as good replacement) and Silva taught the ways of Italian football by Nesta we do have a competetive not won that win anything (maybe coppa) but MGT know this and if they are holding ot for Dzeko please a LB or stop playing Janku.

Onyewu was caught bad for the goal bad positioning ball watching but again watching Nesta in action will help him , although he will not be a starter.

All in all it was a pre season friendly but Seedorf dosn't even seem to try his passing is sloppier than usual he dosn't even look just plays the ball then throws his arms up in the air as if it was a perfect pass , Clarence you have done well for Milan very well much appreciated but try as best you can or leave and If that is his best then he past it and has no business starting games come the start of the season.

Actually I don't know about that. Dembele's a very good player and admittedly I like him. Physically as you said he's strong, and very skillful on the ball. In the last season he scored 19 in 23 games when he was used as the striker.

Him joining would give freedom to Pato too as they can alternate between striker and supporting forward.

Don't you find it funny how Mr. 4Time CL winner is still starting for Milan despite how everyone here thinks he will be a sub this coming season.

Also, the expectation of having the injured players from last season be injury free for this coming season is just non-sense. As there were reasons why they were injured and on top of that, whose to say players who weren't injured last year will still be injury free this season?
We all talk about Zambro being the only WC fullback for Milan, imagine him being out for 3 months? Or how Pato will be out for 2 months.....

One last thing, pls don't hope Milan will do well this coming season as they really do not have the pieces to do well.
Like Galli, my expectation will be them making the CL and quite frankly, thats going to be a tough task.

But if just one of them gets injured or is off form, then we are totally screwed. Especially if one of these players happens to be any one of our forwards, Pirlo, Zambrotta, Nesta or Dinho(not that he is any good right now, but he is better than nothing, and I expect he will improve as the season gets underway) we are in deep feces.

Dont get me wrong I would love to have him here, as he is VERY talented, but he isnt the goalscoring striker we want. If we sign him we should play him as right winger with pato as striker.

Report: Juventus Reject David Trezeguet – Kakha Kaladze Swap With Milan
The Old Lady have snubbed Milan’s offer to release the Georgian defender in exchange for ‘Trezegol’.

Yesterday, Milan boss Leonardo implicitly gave the club the green light to sign Juventus striker David Trezeguet by hailing the Frenchman’s "extraordinary" strike rate, but negotiations with the Bianconeri are struggling to take off.

Juve are reportedly willing to get rid of the 31-year-old, who earns €4.5million a year, but are demanding no less than €10m.

La Gazzetta dello Sport today claims that Milan have offered the services of Georgian centre-back Kakhaber Kaladze in part-exchange, but Juve have resoundingly turned down their proposal, asking the Rossoneri to instead include Marco Borriello in the deal.

This request prompted Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani to release a statement on the club’s official website yesterday, insisting that Borriello is not on the market.

Juventus’ refusal to accept Kaladze is most likely down to the fact that the Turin giants are set to bring in Uruguayan central defender Martin Caceres on loan from Barcelona. It is anticipated that they will have an option to make the transfer permanent for €10m next summer.

However, Juve sporting director Alessio Secco yesterday claimed that Trezeguet is not for sale and is still part of the club’s plans.

Vince Masiello, Goal.com

A direct swap? Is Milan mad. Now is the time to swap kala/oddo and Seedorf (who will replace Nedved) plus 6 million ofr Trezegeut. neither player is needed....

I suggest to Galliani to have the right amount of resources organised beforehand, as well as the negotiational desire before entering discussion. As for the player himself, he is a rising talent and would be worth a 14 million euro bid....

Roma Want Barcelona-Bound Keirrison On Loan - Report
The Giallorossi want the Brazilian ace, who is likely to join Barcelona...

Keirrison, PalmeirasRoma are looking to take Barcelona-bound striker Keirrison on loan, according to Sportal.it.

The young Brazilian is set to complete his move to the Camp Nou this week, but reports suggest he will be shipped out. Directors at Barcelona have decided the hitman will not be benched or play in the 'B' team, and thus a loan move to gain experience is likely.

Voices around Trigoria suggest the Giallorossi, who are looking for a forward, want to have a shot at landing him. Roma are willing to offer the youngster a regular starting place, allowing him to play at a consistently high level.

It is said the Blaugrana are pondering the Rome avenue as they have a good relationship with the Italian side. The news comes amid fresh reports that Mirko Vucinic is heading out of the club. The Montenegrin has been linked with Manchester United and Chelsea.

Salvatore Landolina, Goal.com

Roma are in financial trouble are they?! However, if they manage to keep Vucinic and a fit Totti, along with Kerrison, they boast a healthy attack that our defense will certainly struggle with. Nesta played great against Club America today though.... Hopefully he will be back!

I was just checking his statistics on ESPN Soccernet and it does seem he's learning to be more of a goalscorer. Those 10 goals last year came in 20 starts, which is a very good ratio (he didn't score in his three appearances as a late substitute). And he had eight goals for the Belgian NT ilast year. So it seems he does have the potential to develop into a real goalscorer like Ibra. I've only seen him a few times with the Belgian NT, but he does seem to have a lot of ability. Would playing him on the right with Pato in the middle be such a bad idea?

no it isnt! In fact I'd love to see pato in the center, I dont see him as a winger. Thats why I was asking for a Giuseppe Rossi signing, someone who could play on the right. Pato is so much more dangerous in the center.
remember this: Pato played his best games for Milan as our Only central striker!! When Pippo came into the lineup last season he was our main front man, Pato was always falling back or went to the left or right, he scored far less those times! I think he should play in the center.

But offcourse thats what I think! but the management clearly wants another central striker, a big and strong one. they want pato on the wing it seems :) Thats why I excluded Dembele! But if it was up to me I would look for such a player, Rossi, Dembele, Cassano...

BTW these are his 10goals from last season:

As i live in Holland i could follow the actions from Moussa Dembele at a close range and i can tell you all that IF he comes it would be a world signing.

He is fast, very good at the ball but most importantly, you cant get the ball from his feet he is physiqually so strong for a youngster ist just not normal any more, watch the highlights of the Belgium-Spain game, even Puyol couldnt get the ball of his feet because of Dembele's body.

So even with his strength he is still very techniqually and fast,a perfect signing for the RW,and we dont have to buy a striker anymore because Pato would become CF.

I would love to see Dembele here in Milan, his workrate and shooting are also incredible,he really would be a great signing.

But i doubt he will come, for 2 reasons.

The rumour is from Tuttosport, they are saying allot of these things that are just crap, with how many players are we being linked nowadays?I dont think the Dembele-rumour is true.

If it was true....well then i dont think AZ and AC Milan would agree a deal, like Filipez said, the Belgium and Dutch people know his price: 15-20 million, and we dont even want to splash the cash on Luis Fabiano,so Galliani will NEVER pay more for Dembele then he would for Fabiano.

Agreed.

Tuttosport is not reliable at all. If you go into a bar anywhere in Italy, apart from Turin (Tuttosport is from there), you will notice that it is always untouched, while everybody is trying to get to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, or possibly il Corriere Dello Sport. La Gazzetta is the most reliable, although in recent years it has lost some of its class and is becoming more 'tabloid' like.

About us geting Dembele.... his price is way too high (for our standards). It aint gonna happen.

Grosso is not the answer for lb. I'd try Albertazzi before janku. We all know he can't def. He stands 10 yards off the player to let them get free crosses in. Simply appalling. Without Nesta, not counting Silva yet, our def is horrible. Kalac has to go too. Storari although not great is surely better than him.

I agree he would be great, but according to Leonardo/the managements demands, he is not the powerful forward we are after.

There only 7 months between them Ibra being younger , as much as he saved Inter last year and before does anyone think he is TWICE as good as Eto , Inter have a good deal.

They are two different types of players. Inter's team as is would not be able to serve up Eto'o... he wont be the same player as he is/was in Barça. But then again he has the coldness and balls in the big games that Ibra lacks.

For Barça I dont know how good Ibra would be. At Inter they would just give him any ball, aerial or ground, and he would make something out of it sooner or later. At Barça they could do the same thing, and on top of that there are worse defenses than in the Serie A. But Barcelona have the best passing game in the world, and Ibra would just contribute to it. But in a big game like in the Champions League, especially the latter stages, Ibra would be less useful than Eto'o.

Being different is difficult to say which player is really better, but I dont think Ibra is worth double.

B/C they thought thats the best deal they can strike for Kaka, which turned out to be false.

It is quite funny to think that when B & G offered money for a player to another club, they tend to be insulting offer in order to test the other clubs reaction and get a better deal. While when someone offer money for Milan players, they will accept the first offer as they think thats the best deal they can get.

I know many of you love Kaka, and so do I, but lets look at something:

Kaka was injury riddled for the last two seaosns, and was barely playing three quarters of our games...... And a 60 million dollar offer comes in? I would accept.....

However, I do agree that Galliani should have forseen the attcking void left by Ricardo (as well as forseen his stinginess on the transfer market) and demanded Hunterlaar inserted in the deal. If he was better, he could have asked the loan option of Robben as well, just like Hleb's move to Inter. So yes, it was the right time to sell Kaka, but no, he was a little undervalued....

Go, go Galliani! We believe in our managment! Just wait and they will make Milan win scudetto in a "new" circle with old players. Patetici.

Huntelaar was Leo's last option, but since Milan has no money at all we'll get him from Perez as a charity.

From 80 mln we earned, so far invested - how much?

Milan are ready to re-open their transfer book and turn to chapter Klaas Jan-Huntelaar after putting a full stop against Luis Fabiano's name, according to Il Corriere Dello Sport.

The Rossoneri have been linked with the Real Madrid hitman previously this summer. Huntelaar, who has been the subject of much speculation, reportedly rejected a bid from German side Stuttgart as they were unwilling to meet his €5 million-per-season salary.

Milan's chase for Sevilla striker Luis Fabiano seems to have stalled, and reports in Italy suggest Huntelaar is being reconsidered. It is said that Rossoneri vice president Adriano Galliani has been in touch with Real president Florentino Perez regarding the Holland international. The men have a good relationship following Kaka's move to Spain, which could help any future deal.

However, the San Siro giants could face stiff competition from Roma. The Giallorossi have been looking at Huntelaar through the shop window, but they are unlikely to sign him unless they sell Mirko Vucinic.

With Karim Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka all leading the line in Madrid, voices claim the Dutchman could be shipped out.

We haven't even invested 1/20th of the cash.... It makes me wonder Mrki, how much really went into "balancing the books." Were we really in such a bad financial state, and if so, isn't that MGT's fault? Even worse, how much of it went into "balancing Berlu's pockets?"

Still no youngster in the roster.

So all our goalkeepers are over 30.

9 defenders 6 of which are over 30.

8 midfielders 4 are over 30 , 2 of which have never played and 1 is wing back.

7 forwards 1 hasn't played at his best for 3 years , 1 can only play 15 - 20 games a year , 2 have never played and 1 has a big ? over his head.

Pato is quality clearly.

And then I look at Juve bringing in Diego , Melo now Caceres to the good side thay already had.

Then theres Inter who lose Ibra , But bring In Milito , Motta , Eto , Hleb and still have 20 - 30 million to spend , again they were already a good good team.

And then you have AC Milan we lose Gourcuff who is becoming very very good , We lose Kaka (the best player in the world) we lose Paolo the best LB ever , we Lose our coach who is a proven successful coach.

We get embarassed in the transfer market make fools of ourselves (well MGT does not ous exactly) and sign no1 of any great quality the team is old and predictable and slow.

These are all the facts I try to be optimistc but it is hard guys.

No. I mean there is still no younster in the roster. Not like last year there was Darmian in the roster even he didn't get real chance with the first team. So, I didn't talk about talented or not talented younsters, I talked only about no younster is listed in the roster. Maybe at the end of the season one of the youngsters brought to the friendly games will be listed in the roster.

Kaka was more than just a player the reason i so upset over his transfer is Milan reluctance to buy players or spend any significant amounts of cash plus the fact that management forced him out. he wasn't just a fantastic player for me it is the fact he could be sold for a significant fee that than could be used to revolutionise the team no longer would have to put up with seedorf and kalac and oddo and favalli because we would had the cash to buy new young side backs and pay off the rest of these player contracts.

Even with kaka injury problems he made the team significantly stronger on and off the field he was a world class player who could attract other world class players to Milan. the team is weaker without him i don't think most of you guys recognise this as you love the players and the team so much you lost some of your objectivity. We just can't wait to make big big profits so that we can buy new players with this global recession and the loss of kaka associated revenue i can't see Milan would be lucky to break even next season.

Hunterlaar is much like Pippo. he is no targetman, but do we really need one? I feel that is needed more down back, and Gooch is the man.....

The Dutch League is tough and physical, so he certainly wasn't gifted goals. Also, keep in mind that he did fine at ,madrid, but due to "superstar" attacking signings, he has lost his place. His form suggests that he was about to come good at the club had they insisted with him. For me, he is better than Luis Fabiano.....

Kaka wasn't that cheap beside i talking about buying ronney or messi i am talking about Milan completing deals for cissokho or marchetti or dzeko the fact is that if you want to buy a young rising star in modern football the least it is going to cost is 13 million euros. even the cost of a english player call ashley young is about 25 million pounds on hand i would guess 28.6 million euros this player definitely is in the bracket profile of a rising star.

30 years is a completely arbitrary threshold to evaluate players. A footballer doesn't lose anything the moment he turns 30, so why do we keep using that as sort of the top of the mountain, where everything goes downhill the moment you hit the third decade? Its stupid.

Leonardo has publicly criticised our transfer market according to milannews and tribal. He apparently said that when taking this role on his first request was to have a striker with qualities similar to Dzeko, something which has failed to materialize and our botched up deals (including Fabiano and probably Trezeguet) will ultimately force him to play a different system to what he intended.

Lavezzi wouldn't be bad, but swapping with Borri wouldn't be good for the same reasons the Trezeguet swap wasn't good. Borriello may not be a great forward, but he's got unique qualities which are important to our squad. Unless we get another forward with similar qualities, we need to hold onto him.

Difference is La Liga and Serie A football are different. We need a physical player to dominate against teams playing with 9 behind the ball and leaving no space. The physical player would be an alternative to dominate physically or be a problem for opponents and thus make space for others.

Chelsea played in a not too dissimilar way to low Serie A teams when facing Barca last season and we all know how much trouble Barca had against them.

Well, Kaka came about 7-8 yrs ago and back then the fee paid by Milan was quite high considering Kaka has not play one game in Europe.

On top of that, knowing how much CR7 costed and the way Real throws money around. It is very possible that Milan could have gotten a much better offer than the 65Mil.

Totally agree Dutchie, having lavezzi, Pato and Ronnie would be a potent forward line! It looks like it, mgt aren't prepared to pay +$10m for a CF this mercato. Exchanging Borriello for Lavezzi wouldn't cost us anything (cross my fingers). Borriello would be a loss, and I do believe when his fit and firing, he is a great forward, but like you said....moving Pato to CF would work fine until next mercato when we can buy Dzeko.

I'm really hoping we grab Huntelaar.

---------------------------Huntelaar--------------------------
-------------------Dinho-----------------Pato------------------
----------Gattuso-------------Pirlo-------------Flamini/Abate-----
--Hopefully new LB-----Nesta------Silva-----------Zambro-------

With a bench of Janku, Antonini, Abate (Hopefully to get more time), Inzaghi, Boriello, Ambro, etc., I would be happy. The more the saga of Fabiano dragged on, the more I continued to think that it wasnt all that bad if we were to turn back to Huntelaar. His stats are amazing and he's that poacher like Inzaghi (minus 10 years :) ).

I also would like for Abate to get more time. When he came on against Club America, he looked very dangerous and had a lot of energy. We need this. If we dont sign a LB, i'm guessing they will shift Zambro to the left and get Antonini in there on the RB slot?? i'm not sure I agree with this for a full-time plan, but I really miss the excitement I had when we signed Cissokho (kind of signed :( ). I think an LB this year and CB next year will hopefully come.

This is only 2 signings, Huntelaar and LB.

We are in a strange situation it depends on how you word it , I made a post earlier and reading back it was all true the problem is you can also say the positives and there is alot of ifs in any of those and it seems like we are great.

This is the way that MGT are looking at it but they know what is wrong they are just not willing to fix it or maybe there is a serious lack of money we will never know.

The thing is Silvio is such a vain person and needs exceptance and to be hailed does he realise and I don't know if he is thinking about or has even thought , that as much as he built AC Milan and it was a big club when he took over.

The success he has had as the owner has made them one of the top 2 most successful clubs in the history of football.

He will now (if things go down more) be known as the man who ran one of the most powerfull successful teams ever into the ground.

All of the players that Milan tryed to buy and their agents managers and club presidents are not insane , and they have all said the same thing about Milan how cheap and sneeky (regards Fabiano going to court) they are the name is being tarnished , not beyond repair YET!! but it needs to be stopped.

If there is no money publicy say so and do not bid small fees for great players , but again this is down to Don Silvio not wanting people to know he might be financially not able to compete as he once was.

No shame in that any person who created a billion dollar empire like he did can be proud , but stop being too proud stop letting and letting his ego get in the way.

There isnt alot to sing about nowadays Milan brings a smile to my face and puts a spring in my step when we are playing well , but I seriously do have huge concerns for the coming season.

Management are looking for a target man. With our restricted budget, it is virtually impossible that we will get Lavezzi and a targetman. So, we will probably just get a striker. Who? Your guess is as good as mine.

I feel for Leonardo at this moment. The raw material he has to work with currently is not that special. We need a LB and a striker urgently.

I think 30 is an arbitrary age also. Look at Zidane, for example. He really played at high levels around that age.

I think players like Kaka', Henry etc. start declining at 30; that is players who rely on pace.

I think the Lavezzi rumors stem from Aurelio De Laurentiis saying "We are equipped to deal without Lavezzi" combined with the fact that Napoli was said to be wanting to take Boriello on loan recently (Marco is from the city and would be a very popular acquisition). Whether there is any measure of truth to it, only Aurelio, Silvio and their top management knows.

By the way, the Ibrahimovic deal could be in jeopardy because Hleb doesn't want to go to Inter. From the Yahoo live transfer feed:

In interesting snippet here - Zlatan Ibrahimovic's switch to Barcelona could be in jeopardy thanks to an intransigent Alex Hleb. The Belarusian was meant to go to Inter on a season loan as a makeweight in the 45 million euro Zlatan deal, only he doesn't want to go.

I really think that Borriello is completly misunderstood around hear. He's really not that dominant in the air. He's not taller than Pato, but he seems a bit stronger though. His heading is not that great either, same with his finishing in general.

Still he's a fine player, good technique and all that, but I really don't see him as a Bierhoff type of player who just scores every time a cross hits the box.

I don't think we need one more goalscorer like Huntelaar. I think Pato can be the goalscorer, so I really don't think it's necesarry to have a striker who just came off a 20+ goals season. Ideally I'd like to see someone like Ibrahimovic next to Pato. Someone who can be an arial threat, but also has the tecnique to be able to play with Ronaldinho and Pato, play 1-2's etc which all Brazilians love to do. I don't think he necessarely needs to bag 20+ goals a season, imo Pato can do that. I haven't really seen Dembele, but from what I hear, it seems like he fits the bill.

Marco van Basten had also only scored in the dutch league before he came to Milan. Also, Huntelaar scored 8 goals in 20 matches for Real Madrid last season. Huntelaar have played 23 times for Holland scoring 13 goals, when van Basten had played 23 matches for Holland he had scored 10. I'm definitely not comparing the two only mentioning it, as Marco van Basten is one of my favorite players of all time.

Huntelaar have played 23 times for Holland scoring 13 goals, when van Basten had played 23 matches for Holland he had scored 10. I'm definitely not comparing the two only mentioning it, as Marco van Basten is one of my favorite players of all time.

Huntelaar wanted 5 million Euros to play for Stuttgart, hopefully he would accept less to play for a more illustrous club like Milan.

The stat for Real is very mis-leading as well. For the first batch of games he started from the bench and came on as a sub. Once he found his feet in the league, he was unstoppable. He's young, tall, and has amazing potential. There is a reason Real went out and got him last year. If it wasnt for their spending spree and needing to re-coup some money, they would keep him.

With Huntelaar not wanting to move to Stuttgart, it seems the other clubs strongly linked with him are Tottenham and just in the past few days Arsenal. He may not want to go to Spurs since they're not in either the Champions League or the Europa League this year. That would leave Arsenal and Milan -- two clubs not prepared to break the bank -- as the main contenders (if it's true that Arsenal and Milan are now seriously interested). That could lead to Madrid dropping their price somewhat. Of course, Huntelaar may not want to come to Italy either. I've never seen a comment from him one way or the other.

I'm really hoping we grab Huntelaar.

---------------------------Huntelaar--------------------------
-------------------Dinho-----------------Pato------------------
----------Gattuso-------------Pirlo-------------Flamini/Abate-----
--Hopefully new LB-----Nesta------Silva-----------Zambro-------

Milan will not play like that. That is Carlo Ancelotti's Milan. In Leo's sistem we'll look like this:

-----CF---Pato---
-------Dinho------
-Pirlo/Seedorf-Flamini-
-------Gattuso----

--------back 4-------

Why would you assume that it's going to be a simple switch? I'd rather it be 2 destroyers behind Pirlo. That way, he can face forward and not be afraid of losing the ball, because behind him are Flams and Gattuso waiting to bite off any loose balls. We all want Pirlo to move further upfield, and the only way this would work is if he's supported by a lot of muscle. He will lose a lot of balls facing forward, just like Ronaldinho and Kaka. There has to be someone to clean up the mess.

I also like the triangles in this:

---------------Dida

-------Nesta------Thiago Silva
Zambro-----(Hernanes)-------------Janku
-------Gattuso-----Flamini
--------------Hernanes
-----Pato-------------Ronaldinho
---------------Dzeko

Hernanes would be forced to run a lot, and cover the ground that Pirlo usually walks around. I think he can do it.

Edit: Maybe it isn't clear. What the formation above shows is that Hernanes would play like Pirlo used to when we recieve the ball and when we counter, but if we assume longer possession, he'll move up and act as a trequartista.

That formation failed in the friendlies. I think that's why Leo changed the formation back to our usual formation : 4-3-1-2.
The problem with 4-2-1-3 like you wrote above was that Seedorf (the key player infront of two DMs and behind the 3 forwards) was totally dissapeared. That made a big hole in our play (Hernanes position in your post). Plus the two DMs couldn't move forward to build up the play (to take Seedorf's job to playmake the game) since their task was more to defend the midfield area than to support the attack.

Leonardo could try the 4-2-1-3 formation again when Pirlo is fit and I hope Pirlo will be performing a great playmaker in that position.

I wouldn't really trust anything that comes out of these friendlies. But I agree, it should all become clear once Pirlo (and Pato) have played a few games.

I've only seen highlights from our friendlies but from what I've seen the lack of numbers getting forward shows that Leo's plans haven't been taken on by some players, and that fact that we are still conceding certain types of goals shows that concentration levels are still the same as they were under carlo for last few seasons. This is going to be a long season, even if we do sign the 4 or 5 players we still need.

Personally I don't see why Huntelaar was so far down our list really. I think after Dzeko he was probably the best option available. He's not as physical, but the man clearly can score a lot of goals and would work pretty well in Inzaghi's role.

I won't comment yet on Leo's tactical plans. I think right now it's looking quite mixed up due to us lacking our key players.

Don't really know why some of you are saying Inter is weaker than last year without Ibra but with Eto. Eto is the type of striker that JM knows how to use.
On top of that the 45mil or so that Inter receive will most definitely goes into Cassano and other players.

Ibra is a player that carries the team no matter how bad they're playing. Etoo can't play on his own. That's a huge difference.

How many times have Juve and Inter won games they had no right to win simply because of Ibra?

Don't get me wrong because I think Inter made out like bandits getting such a huge sum plus Eto'o, who is one of the best goalscorers in the world. But it's all going to depend on what they do with that big chunk of money. Eto'o doesn't have Ibrahimov's creativity, his dribbling skills or his ball skills. He depends on having creative midfielders to get him the ball so he can use his tremendous finishing skills. At Barcelona, he had guys like Xavi and Iniesta to create opportunities for him. The current midfield at Inter isn't that creative. They're good players, but they're a far cry from being able to create opportunities like Xavi and Iniesta. It's possible Eto'o won't get nearly as many opportunities at Inter and he might not score goals at the rate we're accustomed to seeing. Ibra was the creative force for Inter and I'm not sure who they have that can take up that slack. So I can see a scenario where Inter might actually struggle to score goals at times. Hopefully, that will be the case. It would be very nice if Inter decides to target all that money for debt relief since they already held about half of Serie A's debt and made a couple of expensive purchases this summer.

He may very well be the sort of striker Mourinho likes to play, but at Chelsea he had Lampard, Essien, Joe Cole, etc. At Inter he has only Cambiasso, Stankovic, Muntari and Motta. That's why they relied so heavily on Ibrahimovic for their creativity in the past. All the speed and power in the world aren't going to do you much good if either a.) other players can't get you the ball; or b.) you don't have the ballhandling skills and creativity to make your own opportunities. No doubt Eto'o will get his share of goals, but I'll be surprised if he scores at anything close to the rate he scored in Barcelona because I don't see him getting the same opportunities.

As for their being a "fun part," well, as a Milan fan, it would be much more fun for me to see Inter struggle to break down defenses than to actually break them down. ;)

I still think management is waiting for the Dzeko thing to evolve. I don't think the Nilmar sale was the final nail in that coffin. That can be the only rational explanation for this indolence. Or no will to spend, of course.

We should wait. For some reason I wasn't really excited about Luis Fabiano. I was actually more pumped about Trezeguet. Let's see what the management does. Surely they cannot just let the likes of Inter, Juve, Genoa, Napoli strengthen.

By the way, the collective TV rights comes into effect next year. So we may see even more spending by the likes of the smaller clubs, which is great news for Serie A.

In our brooding we may have forgotten that Italian football may be healthier in the lower reaches of its organization.

yeah this is right. we have all been fans for many years, we all know how this management work. It's all about "smoke screens". Galliani will bring someone in out of nowhere, the only question is the quality of the player.

But even if they don't bring anyone in, it won't be the end of the world. We all wanted defenders last year right? They got them.
Plus we lost Kaka who in my opinion was starting to hog the ball on too many occasions and it hampered us alot, and ofcourse the market is out of control, too much money is rolling around for average players. Keep it in the pocket i say.
Look out for a more balanced milan this season.

We had a good-excellent 45'. Seedorf goal was amazing, powerfull shoot from outside box 18-20m. T.Silva was pure class, Nesta also. This 2 guy's work well together. R80 should play much high in attack, he still has the touch. One thing is certain Oddo and Borrielo aren't Milan material, we need to replace them.Huntelar or Dzeko would be great for attack.I hope will see Zigoni or Inzaghi in 2nd half.

It was a good game by Milan. Our defence was secure untill Nesta was sub, because soon after, Zirkov scores for 1-2. R80 hits again the post from FK, unlucky. Abate is a good player, he will have his chances at Milan. After 75 min when Pirlo, R80 and Pato the game was like over for us,anyway we had 2 good chances from headers of Inzaghi and Onyewu in the overtime.

Break it up guys....

For the game, it seems obvious that at the least, we are lacking a top targetman. It seems ridiculous that Milan can buy one before the closure of the transfer window, so either we give Borri more chances, or we change the formation to exclude him and put an emphasis on other styles of play. Obviously players like Abate and Pirlo thrive on having taller targets play onto their crosses..... Perhaps Trezegeut may not be such a bad option, yet a Borri swap may not be right.... Surely we can lower the price of 10 million with other players such as Oddo going the other way? Perhaps they might want Storari to replace Manninger?

Spot on mate.... I didn't want to compare Drogba to Borri, but if we are to be a top European side, our targetman can't be of Marco's standard..... It is as simple as that!

Juve have Amauri, Chelsea Drogba, and Inter had Ibra who they have replaced adequately..... Sure, there are many teams without a targetman, but when you have a good one, you add a whole new dimension to your squad, and tie up opposition defenders as so your quicker and smaller players can run past and score......

I feel it is no use begging for a new CF, because it will just fall upon the deaf ears of MGT..... Borri or not, our attack is still more than competent. Due to Inzaghi's inability to play out a whole season, and Borri's lack of impact, expect Ziogni to feauture quite alot..... He has impressed with his maturity!

If lucky, Briaida may return with a couple of gifts. Perphaps a new LB and perhaps the completion of the deal which will see Corinthian's GK in a swap deal with Dida.... That would seal up our defense for sure bcs Onyewu looks more than capable. As for the foward line, I doubt MGT is waiting for the end of the friendlies to assess. Now, thats ok, Xudong...

I was watching Totenham X Barça game(second-half) when the guy said Nilmar deal was closed at that time. That would be crazy to this notice appears before in Europe than in Brazil where they seal the deal.

Now, not for you:

Btw, I still don´t understand this love with a big forward...I want a big forward, IF he can create his own chances and not just because he´s a big guy. Pippo aside, I want my team with forwards that can drible and assist... People talk about this as if other teams can´t defend the aerial game and a big man would solve everything. Barça was European champion without this big forward(sure, the referee was BIG). What we need is quality up front, period! And if Leonardo really want his team to play beatifull football, a tower up front will be a mistake. At least imo...

I´m really curious to see what Dzeko will do next season in Champions League. Bundesleague today is a much more attack happy league than it was in the past. If I´m not wrong it was N# 1 League in goals scored of the big-4 last season.

Look, I will have no problem to recognize that I was wrong, but for me, today, this Dzeko hype(I´m not saying he´s a bad player, please) is insane. This guy has a lot to prove against better competition before I jump on his bandwagon. Remember the hype on Mario Gomez last(after one) season...to be fair, he´s young and can improve, but I´m still waiting for the amazing player that Mario was labeled...

Since it is a forum, I will stick with my bold opinion: Huge mistake do not to pay 18 millions for "the elder" L. Fabiano...a guy that when Kaká, Robinho, Ronaldinho, Adriano disapointed, save Dunga´s job in Brazil NT several times...and the history prove that only a few special players did it in the past for Brazil. To put in perspective: Ronaldinho Gaucho(besides one game against England) never did...

And since it is the bold´s time :) I will give one more: Ronaldinho will disapoint next season, and people will put the blame in Leonardo tactics. It will be like in Brazil NT...Ronaldinho will go to the far left, or play far from the attack and people will say it is a coach order...When the majority here in Brazil know that he always had freedom to play, but just doesn´t have more the desire(work on his condition) to be that amazing player again.

Man, I really hope I´m wrong, but from what I hear here in Brazil, I just can´t believe he will pay the price to be amazing again.

Sorry, Saliwonczyk...but we don´t have this player here. To be fair, in the entire world, the left-back position has little depht. If Braida get a LB here, it will be a project.

Sorry, Saliwonczyk...but we don´t have this player here. To be fair, in the entire world, the left-back position has little depht. If Braida get a LB here, it will be a project.

But I really pray that Juan(from flamengo) rumour isn´t true. It would be a terrible mistake...

Yes, I was talking of a project. A player with a bit of flair and speed.....
ALso, what r your thoughts on the prspect of a swap deal between Dida and Felipe of the Corinthians?

Felipe is a amazing talent(and is in a superb form), but I have some doubts about his character. If it was only for the talent, I would have no doubts to bring him to Milan...

Also, he´s a non-Eu player, and IMO we have huge needs besides GK to spend our only non-Eu spot.

But you´re right, Felipe is amazing.

Man, I really hope I´m wrong, but from what I hear here in Brazil, I just can´t believe he will pay the price to be amazing again.
still think we need to sign huntelaar, he is the perfect blend of everything we are looking for plus an EU passport

so, i think that we could consider the transfer season a success with the following moves-
Klass-Jan Huntelaar-18mil fixes our striker problem
Felipe Santos-Dida, gives us a super talented keeper, plus gets rid of dida :)
Gareth Bale-11mil. is one of the most talented young LWBs in the world, will be dominate in a few years. and he is a great FK taker.
Alessandro Rosina-7.5mil- is an ultra talented italian who provides insurance for if dinho doesnt play to the level we need him too.

36 mil to totally solidify our squad. thats out of 84 mil for the sale of gorcuff and kaka. that leaves close to 50 mil to take care of our debt. the added revanue from greater success in the champions league would make up the cost

How do you know that 50 million will take care of our debt. most likely, 60 million of our revenue form sales has already been used for repayments..... Your plan is far too expensive... The Dida swap is good of course, but I feel that the Rosina deal is not that important. DiGenarro was brought in becuase of that fear....

additions need to be made for us to succeed. that will cost some money. 50 mil should help our debt quite a bit. Rosina is a huge talent, and he will cost much less than he is worth due to torino's relagation. bale would help fix our LB problem for many many years. its an all around good deal if you ask me

I don't know about other people, but personally I want a big forward to break down the smaller teams. I don't want him to play away at Inter or Juve, but at home against Catania and Siena. You have to spread play wide and cross over the sea of legs. We don't have anyone capable of making that happen (except for Borri) and it was a critical fault for the past few seasons.

I feel that we will sign a striker eventually (and hopefully another defender). I still can't believe that Milan would be happy with the same squad - we clearly need to improve if we are to increase our challenge in Serie A. Also, seeing the deal that Inter have just completed for Ibra, why didn't we do a similar player swap/loan with Real?

Sorry but have to say that G. Bale is muck. Even worse than Janku. We need rid of oddo, move janku into mid, and have antonini, zambrotta, albertazzi, abate, bonera, and silva as wide def options.

If we can sign a top lb, then at least get the correct forward. I agree with Brasiliero that our forward shouldn't be a box player. We need someone who can create and dribble too. Dzeko for me can do that, and is more complete than Huntelaar. He gives more guarantees imo.

Rosina used to be a great talent. I;d prefer to see Di Gennaro, and our Nigerian youngsters get a chance.

Interesting to note that when Seedorf went off we brought on Abate, and also Zigoni and Di Gennaro got some decent time, whilst Carlo didn't play any youngsters till 5 mins before the end.

Milan coach Leonardo is taking the positives from his side's 2-1 loss to Chelsea.

Didier Drogba opened the scoring for Chelsea before Clarence Seedorf pulled one back for the Italians. Yuri Zhirkov grabbed the winner in the second half.

A 71,000 crowd turned up in Baltimore to see Carlo Ancelotti take on his former side, and despite the loss, Leonardo is reasonably pleased with the way his side performed.

"The team moved well and I am satisfied," Leonardo told the press after the game.

"There is always a constant revolution of the team and we were able to keep control of the game.

"With two new players, one in defence and one in attack, this team can to great things."

Seedorf and Ronaldinho, who showed signs of magic, both hit the crossbar in the second half.

David Trezeguet is edging closer to Milan, and his agent has revealed he could leave Juventus if a decent offer arrives.

The hitman has been plagued by constant transfer speculation this summer. On Tuesday, Milan coach Leonardo heaped high praise on the Frenchman, fuelling the stories even further.

"Trezeguet is a great striker and he has scored plenty of goals," Leonardo told the press.

The Rossoneri are looking for a striker after their proposed Luis Fabiano move failed. Trezeguet's agent, Antonio Caliendo, was seen in Milan on Wednesday night dining with vice president Adriano Galliani.

Caliendo has now revealed the player is willing to meet the demands of a possible new club in order to leave.

"If we received an official offer, then we would have no problems in negotiating with Milan," Caliendo told Il Corriere Dello Sport.

"Leonardo and the club's appreciation of Trezeguet represents a chance to discuss things seriously.

"We can always find a solution when everyone shows good will. Milan is worth a sacrifice and David is ready to meet the demands of a new club."

Reports suggest Milan can land Trezeguet for around €10 million, and the Frenchman is currently on a wage of €4.5m-per-season.

Salvatore Landolina, Goal.com

10 million wouldn't be a great investment for this player. However, you have to ask yourself, do you want success this season by getting Trez, or hold out for a year with Borri and let the youngsters develop? It's a question for us as supporters.... Either way, we aren't getting a top young CF..... MGT won't pay for that!

Milan coach Leonardo is hoping Andrea Pirlo does not leave for Chelsea, trying to play down the constant hype.

Pirlo played against the Blues during the 2-1 friendly defeat in Baltimore. The Italian midfielder played just over an hour before being replaced by Gennaro Gattuso.

Speculation regarding a possible Chelsea move has grown louder ever since former Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti joined the Stamford Bridge side. However, Leonardo is hoping he can hang onto the 2006 World Cup winning ace.

"The market still has a very long way to go, but I really hope that Pirlo stays with us," Leonardo told the press following the loss to the Premier League outfit.

The Brazilian, who learned much from former mentor Ancelotti, has revealed he enjoyed pitting his wits against the Italian.

"We worked for many years together. Playing against him was special," concluded the coach.

Inter are about to spend a huge chunk of the fee they will receive from Barcelona for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and they will use it to land Antonio Cassano from Sampdoria.

According to Tuttosport, Jose Mourinho is looking for a fantasista to play behind Samuel Eto'o and Diego Milito next season. Cassano fits the bill, and a deal that may see Amantino Mancini head to the Marassi could take off.

The report suggests Inter will offer cash plus Mancini, who would join Samp in a co-ownership deal. Cassano has a clause in his contract that stipulates he can leave in light of an €18 million offer. Earlier this week, Blucerchiati director Giuseppe Marotta claimed only mega figures would see 'Talentino' leave.

Voices claim that Sampdoria like Mancini, and this has been confirmed by the club on numerous occasions.

Mourinho is trying to cut his squad size down, and both David Suazo and Nelson Rivas could also be used as bait.

With Inter cashing in on Ibrahimovic, and with a number of players set to leave, the club will have a decent transfer pot to be able to use for Cassano.

Huh, what is this? A team spending cash after selling a superstar?! Never heard of it!

For me, forget a targetman. Cassano is the direct replacement for Kaka. Scores more goals and is also an assist maker.... Ah well, it is just wistful thinking as MGT is keeping their hands firmly in the pockets.....

Yesterday it came to my mind we play vs my fav coach Carletto
Mortadella so I decided I take a look at the game. It lasted untill 4am in here... :) It was a nice Oddo-show in our chat! :grinser: About 15 people were in there for a friendly in the middle of the summer. Cheers to the people from the chat!

We made some progress in some attempts of movement, position rotation ( Pirlo-Seedorf ), changes of the rythm etc. I have to say Seedorf did try and he looked motivated ( suddenly he does not complain how he cant play CM, interesting...). Pirlo has just arrived and he played his usual game, and looked a bit confused.

We didnt do extremly well but we werent so bad also. It was also visible that some of our players like Seedorf, Pirlo, Dinho, Pato lack strenght in 1 on 1 duels vs Chelsea midfielders.

So for me, our midfield showed some trying at least, we can expect bigger effprt from See and Pirlo this year for sure. Abate was also good after he came in. Too bad he is 100% one dimensional player. Di Gennaro cant play for Milan, he hasnt got what it takes, Im sure.

DEFENCE:

Horrible communication. Nesta looks unfit and aldough he has some class interventions, he'll need more time to get his duel-touch back. Thiago is a very good CB who misses his positioning in more then one occasion. But he is extremly fast, ready the game well in 90% of occasions and his technique is brilliant. We could have a great CB in future. He'll need time to addopt to strict movement in back 4 space.

Oddo - worst fullback I've ever seen in Milan. Maybe worst fb in serie a ever! My god, and I thought this man can play football when he was at Lazio!!! He is useless and needs to leave Milan TODAY. He cant make 5m pass, cant cross from ANY position, and his defending is a mockery. And he is old.:grinser: Antonini is 3 times better player... Horrible, scary performance by Oddo.

We need one great fullback. We had a chance with Cissokho, but Milan will not spend any money. Marek and Antonini are not good enough, wheir passes cant do it. We need one class FB that can bring quality and peace on the ball and in the back 4.

Gooch is also just a big player that is here without a reason. Bonera is a better player then him. Players like Gooch cant bring calmness to the defence, they cant control interventions. You'll see this year, he is not a man we needed.

FORWARDs line:

PAto - no need to comment. Looked a bit lost lat game buit PAto is class. Dinho - I agree with Brasiliero. I dont expect him to take Milan to new hights. He is not fit and aldough he tries, he cant run and has no explosivity. Dinho cant play as an CAM. He'll end up walking on the pitch leaving us to defend with See and Pirlo in the middle. We are lost without Kaka' as far as CAM place is concerned.

Boriello - is showing that he is not a CF Milan can rely on. NOthing special, just a normal, good, serie a forward.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Mercato:

I agree that Milan doesnt need a big forward, Milan needs a quality forward. I've said it milion times. Inzaghi is one in a milion, we cant go and look for one more player like that. Closest thing to Pippo is Trezeguet.

I dont know what Milan can do. We are lost becouse Berlusconi doesnt want to pay. Next year we'll sell more players and we'll not invest. This team, as it is now, cant win scudetto. Leonardo has good ideas on the pitch, but these players cant do it. Cassano for example wozld fit well in Milan. Then Pato can play as a CF. It doesnt matter he is not tall, he is a classic CF by his nature.

Exactly, we need a good foward not necessarily a targetman. How many of them are there anyway, andf they never come cheap.... Dzeko was a great chance but.....

Yes, a Full-back is needed, but I am confident in Antonini, who wasn't given much of a chance last seaosn anyway. As of Gooch, perhaps you were a bit harsh. I would use him only when we play a side with Amauri or someone similar.....

As for the GK situation, I am scared.....

In the wake of coach Walter Zenga’s brave declarations that Palermo will be pushing champions Inter for next season’s scudetto honours, the clubs' fiery president Maurizio Zamparini has heaped some praise on the Rosanero’s closest rivals, as he outlined his predictions for the coming season.

Asked by FirenzeViola.it whether he was really convinced if a team from outside the so called ‘big three’ could push for the scudetto, Zamparini responded by saying, “Of course I am."

“It gives me great satisfaction that [Walter] Zenga is also declaring his ambition in such ways. Even the likes of Udinese, Genoa and Fiorentina will be pushing for the scudetto this year," he added.

"It’s about time we stopped accepting our roles as sparring partners for the big three.

“Ultimately the big clubs aren’t as big as they once were,” he concluded.

Stefano Federici, Goal.com

i agree. Better for the league, but weakens us in the Champions League with the good players spread around many teams. Ultimately that is where Serie A is judged.....

Pato is one centimeter shorter than Borriello, a player who some ppl on this forum claim to be a target man. Yes, he is probably stronger than Pato, but Pato is much much better at every other aspect of the game. I think he is better at headers too. In my book Pato could very well play as CF for us.

As for our hunt for a powerful targetman CF, I think it might be wasted. We are all bashing Inter for lacking creativity in their midfield, but ours does too. We wouldn't serve up enough balls to our CF. Sure, if we had Ibrahimovic as a targetman, then he could handle the situation himself.. but most targetmen are just big and powerful, but lack quality feet.

We only have one forward (apart from Dinho, who plays slightly further back) who can handle the ball well and create his own chances: Alexandre Pato. Huntelaar and Trezeguet (who according to his agent would like to join us) cannot create jack **** for themselves. At this point I'd rather have a technical seconda punta or trequartista, like maybe Cassano or Lavezzi... but they are above our spending budget... :pp20:

In the coefficient ranking the calculation is based on the Champions League AND the Europa cup.

So, either way it's good for the league.

Pato is one centimeter shorter than Borriello, a player who some ppl on this forum claim to be a target man. Yes, he is probably stronger than Pato, but Pato is much much better at every other aspect of the game. I think he is better at headers too. In my book Pato could very well play as CF for us.

According to Pato himself, he is not a CF...:

I don't know about other people, but personally I want a big forward to break down the smaller teams. I don't want him to play away at Inter or Juve, but at home against Catania and Siena. You have to spread play wide and cross over the sea of legs. We don't have anyone capable of making that happen (except for Borri) and it was a critical fault for the past few seasons.
Your point is good, brk...but I believe more in quality. In the past we broke those 9 man defenses without this big target. I still believe in a Barça aproach of the game. You put quality(pass, pace, pression) on midfield and offense, and there´s no way a team can cope with that...unless they have talent in the back like Chelsea.

The problem is that Pirlo and Seedorf aren´t the same...in the few games of the season that they play in a high level, we have no problem to score. It was our defense that cust us the games...

Hm, maybe you're right. But still, I don't think we can sustain that high tempo stuff all season long. When we go through that inevitable slump, i'd rather have a tank up front that can do the dirty work even if the rest of the team is sleeping; basically I want an Ibra that can do the same work he did for Inter and Juve.

Yeah, Bale is bad - I remember reading that Spurs didn't win for 24 games when he played!

I suppose he knows best. I guess it would be wise to play him further back, so he can be involved more in the buildup of the game. That way with him and Ronaldinho (who hopefully will up his game) can serve quality balls to our forwards who cannot create anything for themselves. It sure would be nice to get a forward who can do some work himself, but at this moment we are most likely going to go with Trezegol, so our midfield will have to be very creative and dynamic.

Huntelaar and Trezeguet (who according to his agent would like to join us) cannot create jack sh1t for themselves. At this point I'd rather have a technical seconda punta or trequartista, like maybe Cassano or Lavezzi... but they are above our spending budget... :pp20:

Mate, Pato said himself recently that his strength is not there to be a CF.....

I reckon Boriello can get 10 goals in all competitions max for Milan.... You don't want Pato left to do all the work up foward when Inzaghi is not around..... For me, Borri had a great time at Genoa, got injured last year, and has started off badly in the friendlies. Based on that, we may be coming to a far too hasty conclusion. the man is a late bloomer..... Let's just wait and see.

EITHER WAY, no foward is coming. they are just too expensive for MGT, and CFs cost evern more......
I would concentrate on a full-back. As well as this, the GK situation IMO is being taken for granted!

Harry Redknapp is set to tempt Klaas-Jan Huntelaar with the prospect of being the top earner in Tottenham's history in a bid to bring him to White Hart Lane.

Spurs have been chasing Huntelaar all summer, and are believed to have already agreed a €20million deal.

Now, according to the News of the World, Redknapp is set to travel to Amsterdam to meet Huntelaar's representatives, and present a contract offer worth a whopping €104,000 a week. Ledley King is currently Spurs' top earner, on €86,000 per week.

Huntelaar currently earns €63,000 a week at Real Madrid.

Arjun Miglani, Goal.com

I am not trying to be an ass hole, but it puzzles me how the Hotspurs, who haven't been that flash recently, can afford Hunter, when Milan who just qualified for Champions League as well as receiving around 80 million are scared away at first sight! how much did they expect Madrid was to ask for him? 10 million?! IF Galliani was so good, Hunter should have been included with the Kaka deal! Problems Solved!

Bendtner
Rumours in Italy, reported by Tuttosport, suggest that Serie A giants AC Milan have set their sights on Arsenal's young Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner.

After failing in a bid to land Brazil's Selecao star Luis Fabiano - deeming the transfer fee to be too high - the Rossoneri are now looking for a more viable option, and the 21-year-old Dane has now apparently found himself on their radar.

It is being speculated by Tuttosport - and also reported by Channel 4's Football Italia - that Milan will present the Gunners with two options, the first one being a season-long loan deal for Bendtner, similar to the one that Arsene Wenger agreed to with Milan last season for Swiss defender Philippe Senderos.

If this is knocked back by Wenger, Milan will apparently offer Arsenal a figure in the region of £10 million for their young striker.

Having just sold Emmanuel Adebayor to Manchester City, Wenger may be disinclined to part with Bendtner - who himself may feel that with Adebayor out of the picture, he now has the chance to establish himself as a front-line striker with Arsenal.

However, if Arsenal do consider the deal, they would probably find the first option - of a loan - more appealing. This may also be preferable to a Milanese outfit thought to be unwilling to part with large amounts of cash this summer.

Whether the possible capture of Bendtner would be enough to appease the Milan faithful, who are expecting a major coup following the sale of Kaka for €68 million, and after failed attempts for Wolfsburg's Edin Dzeko, Real Madrid's Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Sevilla's Luis Fabiano, is another matter. They may be expecting a more prominent target than the young Dane.

As yet, neither side have commented on these developments. The coming days should provide an indication of how substantive this transfer rumour is.

Nicklas Bendtner signed for Arsenal in 2005, and is the second Gunners player to be linked with a move to Italy this weekend; Fiorentina declared their interest in Emmanuel Eboue earlier today.

Stephen Donaldson, Goal.com

thin about it! I know he is inaccurate and wasteful, but a loan deal? Wouldn't that be good? We risk little if he fails, yet we gain so much if he becomes the eplayer everyone tips him to become......

Bendtner on loan is worth the risk. We may still lose 1-2 million pounds. We were after him earlier (1 years ago may be). He has shown his worth with the Danish NTs and Arsenal youth.

Still Trez would be my first choice. We already have a Bendtner-like player in Zigoni.

Interesting. I did not see Zigoni in a match yet, for all of you who have watched him, what kind of player he is? And is he worthy enough for first-team place so we don't need to buy another striker? Because maybe that's the management's plan... Cheap option.

nah, if we can get a loan for bendtner i think that would be super. he has more experience than ziggy it gives us a tall target man that is used to playing in a physical league to keep dzeko's roster spot warm until next season. this would be a really solid move

Antonini certainly shouldn't be gotten rid of right now. He's one of the few wingbacks so far that has actually done relatively well under Leo.

Quite honestly, we need to replace Oddo and Kaladze in this squad with decent players, and our defence would be massively better for the new season.

Right now I think for the new season we should be looking to play something like...

--------------------Abbiati--------------------
Zambro-------Nesta-------Thiago------New LB-
------------Rino--------------Flamini-----------
---------------------Pirlo----------------------
----------Dinho--------------------------------
------------------------------Pato-------------
--------------------New CF--------------------

We've seen that we need to attacking wingbacks for the new season to add width. Right now Zambro's the best option we have, with Antonini another possibility. However, we're really lacking in this department and this is what I think Leo wants for the new season for the defence.

The midfield needs players who can cover a lot of ground. We've seen in the friendlies Flamini's dynamism and ability to push up, which is really good for our attacking play. Seedorf can also play this role, but not consistently now. We still need a midfielder to cover which Rino is perfectly suited for. Pirlo is naturally our playmaker.

Dinho should play in the middle right, drifting into wide areas and generally given freedom to move across the field. Essentially, I think to get the best out of him, we need to give him the freedom to determine the areas during the match where he's best of use, with request of his movement being constant, never static.

Pato wants to play as a second striker and I say we let him. Quite frankly, in this role it's obvious he's better starting on the left given his performances in the last 2 years, in a role where he's got chances to cut into the area. Essentially, his role wouldn't be too different to a Sheva in his early days or Henry during his time in Arsenal.

Finally, we need a new forward. Pippo if 10 yrs younger would be perfect, but obviously we can't rely on him all season and there are many questionmarks about Borriello. We need a player who Pato can play off of, but obviously can act as the point of our attack.

The general consensus is the new side will be built around Dinho. I say screw that completely and build our attack around Pato, building to his strengths.

I say don't put your eggs in the one basket. leo must have a list and plans in place if either player fails this season, through injury or form.....

I don't think we can judge Borri solely on his pre-season form. Neverthless, our original plans and what should be done is to get a new foward who has the physicue and attitude to be the center of the attack. Obviously Pato and Pippo aren't those sort of players.....
As for the wing-back situation, Oddo should leave and in come another player.... I am confident Antonini can play LB with Zambro on the right. Remember Flamini and what he can do there as well if worst come to worse!

Honestly, I think we are wasting our time dreaming about a new forward. Too expensive for MGT. A LB however could happen!

Being realistic I say the line-up would be the same as yours bar the inclusion of Gatusso as a starter (Ambro in there) and a new CF. Most likely the LB we get won't be up to the standard of Antonini, as he would be too inexperienced and young AT THIS STAGE......

After weeks of uncertainty over his future, Argentine hitman Julio Cruz seems to have made up his mind and his new destination will be Roma, according to Sky Sport 24.

The Argentine is expected to sign a one-year contract, with an option for a further season on wages of €1.8million a year.

Cruz would join the Giallorossi on a free transfer, as his contract with Italian champions Inter expired in June.

The ex-Bologna man rejected a lavish proposal from Greek side Panathinaikos last month, insisting he was keen on staying in the peninsula, and it was suggested he had narrowed down his choice to Lazio and Napoli, who were reportedly prepared to meet his demands for a two-year deal.

But Roma eventually barged in and are now expected to finalise the transfer over the next few hours.

this is good for Roma. Only a one year contract and free? Perfect!

GIven the conditions and the kind of player on offer, milan should have inquired..... Trezegeut is overrated financially in both wages and transfer fee, and will prpbably demand a two year contract....

The transfer saga involving Boca Juniors central defender Gabriel Paletta is set to come to an end, when the 23-year-old joins up with his new Palermo team-mates on Monday.

The deal had been put on hold in recent weeks, as the Sicilians had reservations about his physical condition after he spent six months on the sidelines due to a knee ligament injury and also sustained an ankle sprain in May.

But Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini insisted this week that all their doubts had dissipated and Boca’s technical director Carlos Bianchi has now officially ratified the transaction.

“We have received a fax from Palermo requesting an ‘onerous’ loan deal for Paletta,” he is quoted as saying in ilcalciomercato.it.

“We have accepted this offer and the player will arrive at Palermo’s training camp on Monday.”

Paletta will be the third Argentine to move to the Stadio Barbera this summer, after Nicolas Bertolo and Javier Pastore.

Hey, but he is leaving due to monetary reasons. If Man City aren't willing to pay, what is wrong with the player? Knowing Elano, he should be of Milan calibre, but are they telling us everthing just like the Hernanes case? I am skeptical. Also, Man City won't be happy to negotaite with Milan bcs of the Kaka deal..... Perhaps we could get rid of Dida and his high wages through Man City?
