i think that we can wait til next year for sdzeko, boriello will be fine when his form returns

i strongly disagree, I never thought Boriello was good enough.....We need an Eto'o. An Ibra. We need someone to lift us on his shoulders.

David Villa still available? We should try and offer Valencia $5m + 2 season tickets for FREE to watch Milan next year. They won't be able to say no to that.

We already have that player to lift us on his shoulders... his name is Alexandre Rodrigues da Silva aka Alex Pato. He is our superstar that can put the teams on his shoulders

It actually said that according to pallonoro and calciomercato(not true, cause I read that site everyday), that Braida was (past tence) already in Liverpool and talked about Torres. That's all the article says.

and Bosniaco: bro, you're a nice guy, but I really think you should stop calling that friend of yours cause he is as lost as we are....I'm sure you can remember what he was telling you earlier in the summer...

Well he is my friend so I call him anyways, just happen that is good friends with Edin. Thats fine, I will keep the info for my self, but dont be surprised when Edin comes to Milan. :)

One more thing, why do some of you still hope the Rossi thing is not a hack. Maybe it was not but it was planned by the MGT to get fans excited.

Rick you're clearly not passionate about milan. If our defeats don't bother you deeply you're a shallow fan. Kindly desist from patronizing those of us that bleed red and black. Every day i think about our '05 defeat and our revenge. You're here simply to show yourself as being a more mature and balanced thinker. Go join a book club :5dito: and continue to congratulate yourself on how smart you are

I said many times, never judge someone's love for the club. Never say that anyone who doesn't love the club in same way as you is a shallow fan or something like that. If you really want Milan to have money to spend, go sell your home and give it to afford our transfer fee.

Well I follow Hoffenheim because two of Bosnian are playing there. Eduardo is very talanted, very good attacking player. The problem is some billioner owns Hoffenheim he is in no need of money, so 20 to 30 mil we would have to pay for him. Rather go for Salihovic or Ibisevic. :))))

Hoffenheim is full of talanted player. I personally love Salihovic, he has a sweet left foot, also I love Beck, great great defender right back

For those who keep mentioning August 31, here is my argument:

A team needs time to gel, so we can't afford waiting until the last day. yes, Nesta joined us on August 31, but that was a different case.

Firstly, he is an Italian which helped as there was no language barrier; also, he was already partnering with Maldini in Italian NT, so that wasn't a problem; thirdly, he didn't really cause any tension as he deservedly went into the starting 11 and nobody would be that stupid to think that he "stole" someone's place.

that's why I believe that Nesta was signed on the last day shouldn't justify more such actions/strategies. Just two cents.

And if not? Honestly...

If he doesn't come, then he doesn't come. Don't shoot the messenger in any case. ;) A good, informed messenger is a rarity these days. :)

For the record, I still believe in you. At least, I really want to believe in you. I am by no means any expert, so I don't know how to tell why one player is superior to another, but for some reason, I just really like Dzeko. :gonova: I think/guess/hope that he will be the next person to lead Milan back to where we belong.

The problem is even if he sells his home and give it to Milan, Berlu will just spend them on more Models.

For real, just express your opinions guys and leave it as that. If you don't like what someone is saying, just state your case and leave it as that, no point calling people names.....

Doesn't help when people post any transfer news not including Milan.

There is no justification for not spending money on Milan from berlu other than the possibility that he is preparing to sell. I hope it happens soon, so him, his lap dog, and his entourage can stop fking up Milan once and for all.

I second that. I thought it's been suggested by some mods (?) and other members here that it'll be better if the link alone is posted, not the entire article.

About the recent issues, much as I like Leo's going out to the press saying we need more than just young players, somehow I share Warro's sentiment here. I mentally turned to SILENT-mode regarding our snail-paced mercato so far. Never have I been so sick of or distrust B&G in my 21 year of supporting Milan.

I'm ready when the worst happens, but when the season starts, I'll support Milan with all my heart just the same.

it has anything to do with leo he status how much power he wields and how much influence he has over the fans. Milan having 25-30 million losses for the past 4 years we still brought players like pato gilardino oddo jankulovski etc, god Ancelotti was able to play the formations he wanted when berlusconi was screaming from the board room and from the stands to play with kaka and ronnie or in 07 final play gila ahead of inzargi. true various issue such economic crisis missing out on 08/09 cl would have made this transfer window very slow but if we had a jose or wenger in charge they would be in a better position to influence the management. why do you think we went for leo ahead of rijkaard or van basten or a off chance of getting spaletti?

Ancelotti and Leo wouldn't wield any more or less power really, just that Carlo was given players back in times when Milan were prepared to spend. Things have changed globally a lot in the last year or two and that's what's stopping Berlu from spending now.

Leo has shown so far as a manager that he's not soft. Players have said his training is more disciplined than Carlo's was and his comments in the media have shown quite clearly that he expects signings to be made.

I believe we'll get a couple of players before the mercato ends, just depends on who the management finally decide on that makes the difference.

Gabriel489
29-07-2009, 03:23
Those players will be World Champions, Pannucci, Veiri and Veira.

For real, I really like what Leo is doing, establishing himself among the team and MGT.
Thats something that Carlo lacked for the past few years.
Just hope that Leo can continue and wish he gets the players that he wants.

Mate, maybe you should tell also when you called your buddy. Was it before Dzeko signed contract or after? When was it exactly so we could know if it is a (very) updatend news or not.

Honestly, I am open such information since most of us can only know any information about a player from media.

Leo has shown so far as a manager that he's not soft. Players have said his training is more disciplined than Carlo's was and his comments in the media have shown quite clearly that he expects signings to be made.

Leonardo said many times he never thought about being a coach ... and that it is Berlu/Galliani who pushed him in that way. Now he is a coach, if he wants to have at least a decent career in that role, he needs to have a good start with Milan (it's his problem, starting with this Milan, and he has to find quickly a solution). To have a good start with Milan, he just needs some players ... if he doesn't get these players, then that will mean that Galliani and Berlu pushed him to be a coach but without worrying about his career (whereas at start, they said they wanted him as a coach because they knew he would be talented and could do good things with Milan ...). No reinforcement and a bad season could lead Leo to leave next year or the following one, I mean, if he doesn't want to be called "a bad coach", and the message sent to all the former and current players would be "we're no more a family".

So I think it's normal to see what happens nowadays. I don't think the relation between Leo and our management has changed too much, it's just that Leo knows very well how Berlu and Galliani work, what they like and what they don't like as he has worked for them for many years now ...

When Berlu said he would only be buying young players from now, I like the way leo came out and said, "yeah sure, young players, but players who can actually make an impact now!" He and everyone knows thaqt Berlu will make cheap signings, or get players who will take atleast three years to develop!

After flirting with the likes of Julio Cruz and Goran Pandev, Napoli have opted to go for a rising star to complete their striking department, and have signed Erwin Hoffer from Rapid Vienna.

“Erwin Hoffer is a Napoli player,” reads a note on the Vesuviani’s official website.

“The striker has signed a five-year contract. Hoffer, aged 22 and nicknamed ‘Jimmy’, can play both as a first and second striker and his main traits are rapidity and explosiveness.”

Hoffer had been with the Austrian capital club since 2006, winning the league title in the 2007-08 season and hitting a remarkable 27 goals in 34 appearances last term, a feat that saw him come in 11th place in the 2009 Golden Shoe award.

Hoffer becomes Napoli’s sixth signing of the close season after Fabio Quagliarella, Luca Cigarini, Hugo Campagnaro, Morgan De Sanctis and Camilo Zuniga.

Relieved to see the Pirlo deal not happening. The more I think about it now, the more I think that Chelsea wins out. We only get the loan option of Mancienne, and Pizarro won't last for long either.....

Perhaps, but if you hold your viewpoint so strongly, you should have condemned everyone for discussing the Ibra transfer, like it or not, it is far more relevant to Milan than you may think. Of course I respect your opinion, but perhaps you should reconsider the relevance.....

Nah, it's much better like that. You can post your opinion about how other clubs have been doing in this summer mercato. Well, I am fed up with the management. So, I don't want to make the management image worse. LOL

What I can enjoy from Milan right now is Leonardo (a new coach, a refreshing for the team, a new cycle either good or bad) and hopefully the use of young players in the team. Last game I didn't enjoy Milan performance but against Chelsea I got some satisfaction watching the game.

I love the start of this report, what says Leonardo is full of irony ...
"We'll take U23 players ? Dzeko and Cissokho are ..."

Anyway, the main part of this report is about how Leonardo works everyday with Galliani and how this "U23 players only" is the line they all want to follow (Leo, Berlu and Galliani).

My only concern about this "U23 players only" is the fact that it is what Arsenal has done for years ...

TO be honest, CR7 won Player of the year based on his performances as a 23 yrs old.
Messi will probably win this year and he is like 21 or 22.
Gourcuff came alive when he is 23.
Essien was 22 when everyone in Europe wants to sign him.
Not to mention guys like Rooney, Robben, Pato, Santacroce, Torres, Cesc....who made a name for themselves before hitting 23.

It does makes sense to certain extend about getting players U23....but they must still be talented players with REAL potentials. On top of that, if someone is talented and does fill the hole in Milan, who cares if he is over 23, as long as he is the right player, Milan should try to get him.

Milan and Inter are about to wage a battle for Manchester City midfielder Elano, according to British tabloid The Sun.

The report suggests 28-year-old Elano has become the subject of Italian interest. It is said Citizens manager Mark Hughes sees the player as surplus to requirements at Eastlands following a major summer spending spree.

Voices claim the Rossoneri want the Brazilian as a replacement for Kaka, who joined Real Madrid this summer.

The Biscione have also been looking for a midfielder, and the link with Elano comes amid reports claiming Aliaksandr Hleb has rejected a loan move to the San Siro.

Elano will cost around €9 million. Despite the reports in England, neither Milan nor Inter have confirmed any interest in the Brazil star.

The Rossoneri are eager to land a striker and their search for that position continues.

Meanwhile, Inter were linked with Chelsea's Deco, but that move appears to have fizzled out.

I have to give Morratti or JM credits.
They wanted Carvalho and Deco, both of the players want to play for JM, Chelsea told them to pay up. Then Morratti went out and got Lucio and Helb, whom I think are much better players than Carvalho and Deco.
I would be surprise if Inter goes out and get another attk mid with the 45mil from Barcelona.

Inter will beat us to Elano. Also, Hleb has reportedly rejected inter for his original club VFB Stuttgart!
Moratti is far more mentally stable than Berlu, and doesn't use the club as much as a promotion for himself, rather, his company. As for JM, he has far more cash to spend than poor old Leo who has great ideas but old slower players or young unexposed ones.

I don't think Elano is someone that Milan should be fighting for, as there are plenty of players with better quality at his position.

Like Gourcuff-wait Milan sold him already.

Anyway, I do think there are plenty of players who are better than Elano and still in the market.

Hernanes, Sneijder, VDV, Aqualini, even Tiago at Juve are better options than Elano.

Milan supremo Silvio Berlusconi caused a buzz yesterday after he revealed to two Italian MPs that he is planning to rejuvenate the team and will not be considering players over 30 years of age in the coming years.

His comments appeared to irk team boss Leonardo who admitted that they still need to bring in experienced players to challenge for top honours, but Milan lawyer Leandro Cantamessa has dismissed speculation that the Brazilian is already at odds with the Italian prime minister.

“I can rule out there is any friction between Berlusconi and Leonardo,” Cantamessa told reporters outside the Lega Calcio headquarters.

I don’t see any incompatibility between Berlusconi’s arguments, which have a broader purpose, and Leonardo’s, which pertain to the sporting sphere. Their arguments have nothing to see with each other.

“Do we need Under-23 players? That’s a good idea and a project I absolutely agree with.”

There are reports in the press that Milan have rejected a bid from Chelsea for playmaker Andrea Pirlo.

“I am not aware of this offer for Pirlo,” admitted Cantamessa.

“Luis Fabiano? The deal is off for now. But I don’t know what Milan’s budget is in the transfer market, I am just a scribe…”

Milan made a €14 million offer for Sevilla striker Fabiano earlier this month, but it was rejected by the Spanish club who are holding out for at least €20m.

Personally I feel this new project for 23 and unde rplayers is not so bad. it is not liek we will become Arsenal, as we already have too many old players.....

23 year olds are more than capable to make an impact to our squad! Maybe not up foward as much, but as a LB, for sure!

Everyone must have their go mate! The thing is, this may be a cloud with a silver lining. FInally MGT is changing their crazy and over sentimental mentality. it may be too late, but it is a start. And now we have a coach who is not afraid to play youngsters! If Berlu can pull the money to buy a CF and then a decent LB, we should be fine with adding youth and project players.....

Oh shi%, Carceres just moved to juve, and Fiorentina are on the verge of signing Eboue. the first signing if of course more significant.....

For me, buying Carceres for 12 million, which was less than the original Cissko deal is beautiful. he can play in many positions well down back!

But those who are 22-25 now will become more mature and exp in a few yrs. UNless they are all Kaka and leave to Real at 28.

But what makes a player experienced ??
Is it the fact that they play regularly in the team or is it the fact that they win titles ??

As far as I know, if we don't win anything this season and the following one, our 23-24yo players from today (not so much) will be 25-26yo in two years but with no title so, for me, no experience ...

So signing U23 players is right, but signing sometimes a more experienced player is more than needed ...

Like someone said earlier, 23 year olds are more than capable in seriosuly contributing to the squad. You don't have to be a Kaka or a C.Ronaldo, but how did Wolfsburg initially pick up Dzeko? By taking a bit of a gamble!

GeoTav
29-07-2009, 06:34
You didn't get my point ... I know a U23/25 player can make an impact in the team, it's even this kind of players that we lack nowadays, but the problem is if we only buy U23 players (U23 means 18, 19, 20, 21 and 22yo players too, not only 23yo players).

Most of these young players never won any title, and if we tend to only buy them, don't expect us to win again a title like the CL ...

Filipéz 182
29-07-2009, 06:37
dont agree there. why wouldnt we win? these players will gain experience over the years, playing for their NT, playing CL, playing big games!

Fret
29-07-2009, 06:39
I think it's okay to search for 23yo players, but I don't think that this is a must from now on, but rather something for this club to keep an eye on.

It's not like we're only gonna play kids from now on...

....or is it that Berlu's grown tired of young girls and from now on he wants to watch young boys.....:wow:

GeoTav
29-07-2009, 06:42
I say that because for me, you get experience by winning, not by playing ... and it's there that the more experienced players can help the younger ones (who are maybe better than them but less experienced).

Look at Ibrahimovic, the guy is one of the most talented players in the world, but he played for a team that hasn't win CL for decades, and so, look at the way he played in CL with Inter ...
Now, in Barcelona, he will probably be more decisive in CL than with Inter because his team-mates are more experienced.

So dru, if Rick is a "shallow fan" does that make u a "deep" fan? :dontkn:

And if so, does it make u a "better" fan? :dontkn:

And how is depth measured exactly?

I used to go on about fans vs phans....but on reflection, its really more of an imposition/creation of division than anything else.

"United we stand, divided we fall" I believe is the phrase.

As to Leo "standing up" to Berlu...that is all semantics, and IMO is all a load of tripe....those 3 kno exactly what's going on, and are just playing mind games thru the media.

My question here to all is: Was Berlu talking about his girls, or actual players w/ the whole U23 issue? :D

Tony75

You get more experience from losing that you do from winning if you reflect correctly.

I tinhk in Berlu world U23 means more players for Primavera, maybe one 22 unknown for 1st team and that's it.

He no longer cares. Simple as that. Sell the club before the future is sold, and the past tainted.

mrki
29-07-2009, 07:14
Berlu probably talked about girls: " they all need to be under 23! " :)

Leonardo says that Dzeko and Cissokho were under 23... But as Warro says, he knows what is happening. Galliani knows Leo will not quit, he just got hired etc.

All in all we have a team for 3rd-4th place and that is a result of Berlusconi's money grabbing plans. It will go on and on, we'll start with Pato next year most likely.

I dont know which players are now in the mercato available... How Galliani does his job is pathetic and comical.

Quite simply yes. If something doesn't affect one's emotions then it doesn't affect one deeply. It's not rocket science. I have invested a lot of time, money and an ungodly amount of emotion to this team. I was also coming to the US for our preseason tour this year but i'm not going to base my vacation on this crap team atm because my entire trip would be ruined because watching us atm is depressing. I shall also boycott the buying of milan shirts if Pato is sold (i'll still wear my Pato jersey). Because i refuse to support that crook in robbing me of my money. I am tremendously annoyed by people whose posts all reek of the sentiment to 'relax everything's great with us' when we're clearly in trouble. These people aslo have the audacity to mock genuine fans who express concern about the direction our great team is heading by labelling us appabsf mongers, alarmists or worse fake. I don't care if we go down to seriez i'll still support milan. What i won't support is dishonesty and corruption.

Actually Pirlo was not a reject, Inter at that time just did not have room for him, as they already have Recoba, Veiri, Ventola, Zamarano, Ronaldo not sure about Salas, and Morfeo as I don't remember when exactly did they played for Inter. Anyhow, if Pirlo did not suggested to play as a DM, he probably would never even play for MIlan.

As for Seedorf, he has a rep that he will only play well for his team for about two yrs and then he will lose interest. Interesting thing is that Inter is the only team that Seedorf did not win anything. One more thing, Seedorf was being a b*t*h at Inter and Inter was trying to offload him.

Lastly, Milan never payed for Pirlo or Seedorf, they exchanged players for them. Although Coco was suppose to be the next great FB, he was asking for a transfer as he wants a better contract.

To me getting Elano is like getting RO a few years back, just someone the MGT hopes will do well and shut the fans up rather than a plan signing.

Just read the Cecarces is going to Juve, does that mean Santacroce is available to come to Milan now?

off course when Milan lose we feel horrible and when management does not work the way they should we get mad but to be honest when our team is in crisis like right now we stand side by side and we hope for things to change and get better. there are things we fan don't know because we are not supposed to know but that does not hide the truth about Milan being in trouble and they are struggling financially. after all this team is owned by one man. this man brought many trophies and have been drawing smile on the faces of millions. we have been there in good times and surely we are gonna be there in hard times.

Just b/c I am a diehard fan for Milan, does not mean I have to believe Milan is always a great team, strong team and will do well despite having belowpar players
To be honest, thats sound more like INTER fans....

Some might think the current squad is good enough to win the league and CL.
Some might think the squad just need 2 more signings and they will come before Sept 1.
Some might think those signings will never come this summer.
Who cares??

The only thing that I care is the fact that people here are all Milan fans.

There are still solutions like Santacroce maybe, Sneijder ( great and completely underrated midfielder!), investment in Neymar perhaps, Lavezzi could be for sale, CASSANO is a great player, trezeguet, Dzeko is probably gone but you never know etc.

Santacroce can play s a fullback, why not that solution? Cissokho was a missed mercato move as I can see. He looked very promising and something we lacked.

Sneijder would add many things to our midfield: movement, great shooting with both feet, versatile player, speed, defensive ability etc. We cant afford to sell more players! its insane. We need to use Pirlo, Seedorf...everyone in a rotation sistem.

I also think Kaladze is a better fullback then Oddo and Marek. At least defensively. When he played it, he did better then those players.

the crap was last year. this season we are starting from 0. its never easy to make old players relive their own success. we have difficulties.

leonardo is 1 big risk
nesta, gattuso, pirlo and ronaldinho are big risks
kala, bonera, favali, seedorf, dida, kalac, oddo and janku are crap
you are short on 3 starters and 4 squad players
you dont have enough money to lure an indian player (no disrespect)
your management seems to lose mind
your fans are growing impatient
your ranking is almost 30 world wide

what else do you think we are suffering, its not about being righteous, its about accepting things the way they are. since we are only fans we can watch and hope for things to get better.

the problem started with ancelotti when we lost 3 important squad players and they were not replaced at all rui costa, JDT, and Stam. since 2006 and we suffering on the flanks and the management couldnot do anything to replair the damage. how the hell can you depend on cafu.

He is an extremely intelligent person. He has done the best he can with the current team. We showed some potential when we played against Chelsea, CA and Galaxy. He has an incomplete squad. We cannot win ANYTHING with this current squad. At best we will finish 3rd or 4th and reach quarter finals in CL. If he was given two starting position players he will do good for our team.

Players need to up their standards?
Did you see Abate and Flamini today? They were running everywhere trying to create plays. Without Seedorf and Ronaldinho in form we totally suck. How much are the players supposed to keep running when they are playing matches every two days and flying trancontinental? When we don't have good back ups we will lose. In the regular season we will come across times when we have to play 3 games a week and that will be no different than these days we have been playing.

it seems as if Milan under Berlu ownership is reaching the extreme right side of the "bell curve"... Like the old players we have Berlu and Gali lack the desire the will and motivation to move milan forward in these "toubling" times. I am tired of having to defend Milan with history... very good past... dismal future... we dont look like we can demoralize any team... when we play these days we dont look like Milan...

The Serie A starts later, thus, our preparations are not as far underway as other teams. I don't think it is really important to talk about how are team is doomed for failure, when last year we lost to Chelsea 5-0 and Man City.

The truth is that we are a LB and a striker away from being a good team. I also think Leonardo recognizes that Milan's players, at least the old guard, need to be put in a new role, the role of challengers, not champions.

At the end of the day, Leonardo is simply testing our formations, and I hope that he scratches off the 4-4-2 from Milan's arsenal.

I asked this in another thread, but, considering the type of players we have, even if we do get a striker and a LB, are we really overlooking our best formation, the 4-3-2-1?

Uh, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there like only a week or two's difference between our season starts?

i like how our excuses every year are tiredness and "we are behind in the preparations", and other teams are not? We need to ask our selfs, how is Inter or Juve in better shape than us and they are wining all the friendlies.

Make a great point. But this year it might actualy be true. New coach, new faces (young players), and NO KAKA and MALDINI. But others have started to say what i've been thinking, Leo needs to start the rest of the friendlies with a starting eleven squad for them to get a feel for each other.

I got to say this, Rino, Ambro, Pirlo, Seedorf, know each other for years now. Dinho second season. Just the moral of team is low low low since Kaka left. We shouldn't have never sold Kaka without securing Diego. Juve had him in the bag in January.

We need a big player to lift other players and get the team going. I really don't see a player out there available of that caliber.

I'm sorry it just makes so mad to Diego play for Juve and we sold Kaka.

What a hole Milan are in :dazed:

But can we say we didn't see this coming?

We came off a bad season, knowing all season long we needed to rebuild the team.

Then, we sell our best player.

And haven't signed anyone of Milan quality over this past month.

Did anyone expect us to do any better?

Against Chelsea we seemed okay.

I read Berlusconi said we are close to signing a young Brazilian midfielder. I don't know if its true it could be bad translation. But possible Hernanes?

Three signings of quality is all Milan really needs to have energy.

Hernanes, FB, Striker.

Ronaldinho is a great addition to the team, but he isn't the quality to be the focal point of the twam.

How long are they seemingly going to wait though? You can't just throw in 3 players in a team 1 week out from the season and expect results. Pre season was the perfect time to do this, like every other club in the world has done.
But ill say again what i've said before, we can't just blame the management, Its an inflated market, its been hard for all clubs to get good deals this summer. EVERY player is grossly over-priced. We will thank them for keeping the money in future seasons.

But then again... Galliani is the king of the "smoke screen", we will get a surprise in the next week for sure.

The trouble Milan is in goes far beyond this transfer market, Milan should have started slowly integrating youth slowly years ago, and if they did we wouldn't be in the mess we are in today where we practically have a handfull of players that can cut it.

Why so soon?

Don't worry, Milan will do well at the end. Just don't expect them to win anything and might even get knock out of CL group stage.

A week or two difference in terms of physical fitness and preparedness, especially considering the new manager and tactical systems that Leonardo wants to use, means a world of difference.

It's not about whether Ambro, Seedorf, Pirlo, etc can play together. We know they can. The question is do they have time to learn a new system in time to play well together now? That is why I asked, should we be talking about how this year we should stick to our trusty 4-3-2-1, or are the players that are supposedly going to come sometime going to allow us to play Leonardo's 4-3-1-2?

Yeah i do agree with that as well. Especially as the past two seasons we haven't dominated or challenged like we have all been used too, so it would of been a good option to introduce a few more besides pato, paloschi etc.
But remember back to the 96-97, 97-98 seasons, now those were bad times. We bounced back from there, but we may have needed the slump to assess things differently. It wasn't a total overhaul of the squad just a few missing pieces.

*haha yeah i was exaggerating.

I'd like to add, I know that many will say that as professional footballers, they should be able to play in different systems. Yes, that's very true of all these players. However, the question is not about whether they can play in other systems, but what system would best suit the players at our disposal now.

Complaining about how Milan conducted themselves in the transfer market is fine and dandy. The reality is that most of the time, Milan tends to get the right players. People talk about Juventus, they have Zebina, Poulsen, Almiron, and Tiago on their books. Inter are the king pin of the revolving door, and they still don't have the one thing they need: an attacking midfielder.

When Gila came, who would have thought he would be as inconsistent as he was? Ricardo Olivera had his family being kidnapped, have your mother kidnapped and see how well you can focus on anything, and if you can, that means you obviously don't care enough. Gourcuff is only happy to play at a lower level to make himself feel better. Yes, there were Emerson, Senderos, and other mistakes, but all teams make transfer mistakes.

Our issue was not that we did not invest in youth, that is really only part of the problem. The problem is that we have relied upon the same players for too long, Pirlo really shouldn't be as exhausted as he is at 30. Xavi is 29, but Xavi has not been run into the ground like Pirlo has.

Milan's main issue is that we have lacked depth since 2005-2006. We won the CL in 2007 as the best team, and because we were lucky that we lost no one major to injury. It was not just down to Kaka's brilliance, that is too simplistic an intrepretation, and denies the excellence of the other players that year.

We stopped getting players that could fill in and provide respite for other players. Dhorosoo, Vogel, Stam, Serginho, Pancaro, Tomosson, and Brocchi, to name a few. It was these types of players that could easily come in and provide consistency and strength in depth to our squad. Thankfully, we do not have the same issues of depth to Roma, who literally have no plan B should one of their starters is injured. However, we lack the depth and have subsequently run our players into the ground.

Does that mean there needs to be the same renewal that many of you speak? No. It means that we need some quality players, not 20 million pound players, but a few good players to ensure that others can rotate and store up some energy.

In midfield, it seems that we have the good fortune of Abate and Flamini. In defense, that is a sticky situation. Our starting center backs are excellent, I think was T. Silva lacks in technical grace he makes up in being able to physically compliment Nesta very well. We will see what comes of Bonera, and Onyewu. The reality is that our only real world-class FB is Zambrotta. Many of you deny this, but that is because you want to underrate anything Milan all ready has.

Janku should be pushed into midfield, and a new FB should be brought in. Antonini is not the same class of player like Pancaro, and really I'm not sure how much he really can contribute to our cause this season.

Yes, players like Gattuso, Inzaghi, Ambro, Pirlo, and other will need to be phased out. What do you think Flamini came in for? Why is Paloschi still in Milan's possession? Why do you think Abate came back? Who replaces Pirlo, this is the next big issue. Kaka is secondary, honestly, if you watch Milan, Pirlo's influence has been far greater than Kaka's, in how Milan play day-to-day. Yes, Kaka had glorious moments of individual brilliance, but the typical possession play that typifies Milan's style is really centered upon Pirlo's play.

If you want to talk about what Milan has done wrong, it is finding a player to provide Pirlo with a rest. However, that is very difficult. The only player who really has similar qualities to Pirlo was Belozoglu Emre, while he played for Inter, he was brilliant, and I think he is one of the greatest wastes of talent Newcastle ever destroyed.

I am not happy with how things have panned out, but, I have supported Milan long enough to realize that transfers come from no where. That we generally have a great scouting network, Kaka, Gourcuff, are but a few examples of what Milan's scouts uncover.

When Galliani says the transfer market lasts until August 31, I think there is enough negative press and annoyance for Berlu and Galli to notice what is happening. I feel bad for Galli, I think he'd like to do a lot more for Milan then he is ever given credit for, and I feel that Milan is biding their time, as they always do, to grab the players that we want, on our terms, and instead of looking at the Cissoko transfer as some sort of horrendous mismanagement, look at it as the intent of the club to spend 15 million on a player, but for whatever reason that fell through. It would be really interesting to see Cissoko's injury record the next couple of seasons.

It sucks, and I am in as much pain as you, I want my transfers now. I want to look at new names on the squad list, I want to have a head ache as to what team I would put forward if I was the manager. Believe me, I understand. However, the reality is this is how Milan works, and this is how Milan has always worked. Who cares about pre-season? When has Milan ever done well in pre-season? Honestly, have we ever just destroyed every team we saw 12-0 during pre-season? We lost to Chelsea 5-0 last year, but I don't remember us crumbling to the depths that many predict we will this year.

This is not about being optimistic versus realistic (which is offensive in its judgmental framework), this is just about talking about how Milan conducts transfers. I mean, did anyone read about Onyewu coming to Milan on goal.com before it happened?

I have a theory which will undoubtedly cause some disagreemnt. In light of the recent comments from leo and Gatusso in regards to MGTs' lack of activity on the market, this recent loss could have been an orchestrated attept by key memebers of the playing group to jolt MGT off their lazy arse..... Surely, Galliani can't ignore a loss to Inter and now a thrashing to Bayern! I would like to believe that this was not a true reflection of our standard......

Well, the majority of fans are not piss about not signing CR7 but rather Galli and Berlu kept opening their mouths and say Milan is great...... While every teams that have players Milan were after all stated Milan is cheap-thats just never happens.

I am surprise that people still gives credits to MGT after the past few years as something is really wrong with the them. Not saying about bad transfers or giving out stupid contracts but rather no serious plan about the team or sticking with the plan about the team.

As for the the Onyewu transfer, well, to be honest, I don't think he will be a top four CB in any of the top teams in Europe at the moment. And quite franky nomatter how some here wants to make him into the next big thing, to me he is just an upgrade from Senderous and thats really not good enough to play for Milan or any Series A side.

To me I think the problem with Milan is that they have too many players who just can't perform at the level requires for a player in Milan anymore.

i disagree slightly. we should sell Dinho, and use the money to buy G. Rossi. that would help our attack greatly. The energy difference would be very noticable, and it would add the attack very much. Dinho doesnt care anymore, and Rossi is hungry for titles.

I agree we should buy Hernandes, he is the future and would be a great rotational starter for use.

We should try to get a decent tall striker on loan for this coming season. it would be free and that would give us Pato, Boriello (he will improve), Inzaghi, Loaned Striker, and Zigoni as our top five strikers. thats not too bad. then next year, the loaned player goes home, Inzaghi can retire, Paloshini returns to take his spot, then we buy Dzeko. That would give us Pato, Dzeko, Paloshini, Boriello, and Zigoni, which is a huge amount of talent. That would be one of the best groups of strikers in Europe imo.

We should invest in a young keeper such as Federico Marchetti, Andrea Consigli, or Vincenzo Fiorillo to be our number one choice in the next few years. They are hugely talented and would be good for a long time

I remember reading a while back that Roma like Janku. Why not offer them him plus like 12 mil for Marco Motta? he is the best young wing back in italy, and he will be a star for years.

Our lineup for next year-

------Marchetti-------
-Motta--Nesta--Silva--Zambro-
---Flamini--Hernandes--Pirlo
--------Rossi------
--Dzeko--Pato

thats a frickin scary lineup. and we would have a strong bench, that would truly be a bright future. i pray it happens... please berlu, make it happen!

First of all, those are friendlies games, who cares?

Secondly, I don't think people want to be negative in general but there isn't much to be excited about as Milan fans these days.
Sure you can say that the propect of Abate is great, future for Zigoini looks bright....but if you compare that to Diego playing well in Kaka's position, or starting Tevez with Pato as front 2, or Kaka and Gourcuff forming a great partnership, or Benzema declaring his love for Milan at his press conf., thats really nothing.
Now I am not saying Milan should have gone out and sign A B and C, but at least shut up and mind your business instead of saying Milan is great and full of champions.....The is better than INTer....
On top of that the MGT is just treating the fans like crap.
Can't wait for the second home game and see how many fans will show up.

Goal.Comedy: Who Hacked Milan’s Website To Announce Giuseppe Rossi Signing?
Five suspects, but who is guilty?
29 Jul 2009 16:00:43

Please note the below is satirical…

On Monday afternoon, AC Milan’s official website announced that the club had signed Villarreal star Giuseppe Rossi, only for the story to mysteriously disappear just moments later.

It has since been announced that the story was a hoax, and the work of an outside hacker playing a practical joke. This has been a source of great embarrassment to the club, and Milan are determined to find the perpetrator.

The Milanese police have got involved in order to nail the person responsible for this crime, and have since arrested five suspects. Which one is guilty though?

ALY CISSOKHO

Means: Cissokho is famous for his lightning speed and ability to get in round the back – skills that would certainly come in very useful in this operation.

Motive: The Frenchman was humiliated by Milan this summer when it was announced he had joined the club, only for the transfer to collapse when the Rossoneri claimed the Frenchman had a problem with his teeth.

Opportunity: The youngster had time to burn at Lisbon Airport as he caught a flight to France to join his new team-mates at Lyon.

Alibi: Cissokho claims he was in the duty-free section at the time. He even provided a receipt timed at 1500 CET; the items including a tube of Colgate, three toothbrushes and some dental floss.

EMERSON

Means: At 71 years of age, Emerson grew up in an age where there was no colour television, let alone computers or internet. Debatable whether he has the technical knowledge to have masterminded this plot alone.

Motive: Bitter after being released by Milan earlier this year, and eager for revenge. Emerson last month declared that he wanted to start a revolution against Silvio Berlusconi and Adriano Galliani, and his first step was to hack into Milan’s CMS.

Opportunity: Emerson is currently based in Brazil, but in a global age, there is no reason he couldn’t have hacked into the system from South America. He also has a long history of criminal activity, dating back to 1950 when he robbed a grocery store in Rio de Janeiro as a 12-year-old.

Alibi: Emerson claims that he was signing a contract with Brazilian club Santos on Monday afternoon.

MASSIMO MORATTI

Means: If Moratti could intercept every phone call in Italy prior to the Calciopoli crisis, then hacking into Milan’s CMS would not be too problematic.

Motive: It is no secret that the oil tycoon detests Milan, and would do anything to maintain Inter’s domestic dominance. He once offered to give up an unnamed member of his family in exchange for Inter being awarded the 1999 Scudetto.

Opportunity: Moratti spent the whole of Monday at Telecom Italia’s headquarters with world-renowned spy, and James Bond in-waiting, Alessio Secco.

Alibi: Moratti claims he was finalising the deal that sees Samuel Eto’o join Inter as part of the Zlatan Ibrahimovic-Barcelona exchange.

PELE

Means: Pele once hacked into the official Viagra website in order to self-subscribe a five-year supply of the blue pills.

Motive: Pele was offered the chance to join Milan back in the 1960s, but the transfer fell through when it was discovered that he had lied through his teeth about the number of goals he had scored during his career. The King has been seething ever since.

Opportunity: Pele usually spends 23 hours every day talking to the press, but yesterday was the first time in 37 years that he did not speak, sparking rumours that he was busy penetrating Milan’s back-end.

Alibi: Pele told police that at the time of the offence he was working on his new book, titled ‘Pele’s 2010 Predictions’ where he offers his tips for next year. Among his predictions, Pele touts Milan to win the Champions League, England to win the World Cup and Nicky Barmby to win the Ballon d'Or.

ADRIANO GALLIANI

Means: If Galliani can conduct electricity, he can certainly hack into a computer database.

Motive: Embarrassed by Milan’s poor transfer campaign, Galliani provides a smokescreen in order to direct fans' anger away from himself and Berlusconi, and offer false hope about a big-name purchase.

Opportunity: Always one to be fashionable, at the weekend Galliani had the new Apple iMac delivered to his mansion down 0001 Cemetery Lane.

Alibi: ‘Uncle Fester’ was filming the new Addams Family movie.

seriously though - they are reporting that Galliani and Braida were both in Germany not only to see the Bayern Munich game, they were there for none other than our primary objective. And yesterday Martins was signed by Wolfsburg. I guess tomorrow things will be clearer..

Amen brother thats what i tell the majority of people on this board, but most just love to be negative and blast management don't they realize that we're debt free now?! wtf would we want to overspend on fabiano 28,trezeguet 32,Grosso 32, the only players i'd break the bank for that are young would be fabregas,g.rossi, santacroce, crescito, dzeko i refuse however to pay 20 plus on players, dont you guys remember last year that arsenal were trying to sell adebayor to us for 40 MILL ****ING EURO'S?! thank god we didn't give in, face it we are tired and we are a old squad look at the games we've played galaxy, club america, chelsea, inter, bayern we played all those teams with players who havent played almost a year of football in a span of 2 weeks?! thats ridiculous and most of you are gona hate this but we almost damn near beat chelsea! if it wasen't for that ping pong like goal who knows? im sick of all you people being negative

FORZA MILAN ! :3band:

Holy crap, man! I didn't know we have accomplished the highest degree of honor a soccer club can possibly achieve, to balance the books! I mean, who gives a flying crap about CL, Serie A and all the other trophies? This is the book we are talking about! I for one would trade every single title we have in our trophy room for a balanced budget, I really would. Think about it, all the other teams are busy worrying about winning games, but we are too smart for that. We win our battles in the boardroom, where our book is balanced, for the time being! The team obviously don't need new players because all our players can play at the highest level of capacity well into their 50s, thanks to the magic of the Berlusconi BS. Really, buddy, well done! This is the way AC Milan should've been run. We can be in Serie Z, but so long as our book is balanced, IT IS ALL GOOD!

Not trying to be negative but Wolfs is just getting more depth to prepare to compete in CL and their domestic league. On top of that Martins is really not that good. And if Wolfs rate Martins to be a direct replacement for Dzeko, then Milan really should not be getting him.

One more thing to think that Martins joining Wolfs means Dzeko is leaving is the same as Dzeko coming to Milan so that Pato can go to Chelsea.

There may be trouble ahead , I have no expectations for DA season however I will still follow Milan with the same passion as before , always wondered what it was like to follow a bottom of the table side knowing the players your team buy are **** (I do not not think we will be a bottom of the table side) and always hanging in mediocrity , as some have said maybe (GIANT ?) Berlu will say ****** buy buy buy I cannot own a average team , DOUBT IT but we sold kaka 68 miilion euro gourcuff 15 million euro thats 83 million euro - 60 for books or books for girls or whatever, that leaves 23 million to spend + according to deloite are they accurate ? we made 230 - 240 million last year has it all gone an Seedorfs wages there has to be 40 million to spend without going into the dreaded RED.

40 million would get us Huntelaar , Hernanes and at a push a LB and a bit to be optimistic about.

PS. Why do I bother posting I know ye all Know what we need Galli know's that dirty geezer Berlu knows , but is dithering or unwilling to do anything about it.

Id love to know thr reason whether there is no money or signings lined up or just pure selfish money -grabbing GREED.

think about it genius do you want milan to become another leeds united or lazio fiorentina?, before you go off being sarcastic do some research and talk to individuals from italy, genoa, roma, fiorentina, napoli who tell you how everything is so expensive in italy, do you want milan to collapse and start from scratch i mean Serie C? because thats a very high possibility considering the way the world is at the moment, Italy isnt the United States Espana England where you can just shell out money, with no re procussion, before you go off mouthing why can't we throw money around? because we dont know if the economic crisis will get worst, honestly do you believe that 85 million euro's will guarantee milan a CL and a Scudetto and a team like we had in 2000 to last till 07? be smart i know thats hard but just try i beleive in you

We had a dept oof € 65m I believe, and we earned approx. € 80m.

That leaves approx € 15m for transfers, which is basically what our transfer budget is, looking at the ''offers'' we have made for ''various'' players.
So the management isnt really being hypocritical in that perspective. So it is useless for some ppl to ask for the 80 million to be reinvested in the team. Morelikely, the money from Gourcuffs transfer is going to be reinvested, while the Kaka cash is for balancing the books.

I actually believe we have to balance the books since its a known fact that Milan and other teams including Inter have had some sort of dept for years now. The Nesta transfer of 31/08/2002 was basically a gift from Berlusconi's private cash. Now he is willing to do that - be it not caring about Milan, becoming old and insane, spending it on girls, or just repercussions from the current financial crisis.

I am willing to accept this. But what I am not willing to accept is that the management continue to claim - either because they really believe it or are trying to cover their butts - that our team is still highly competitive.

Milan were resoundingly humiliated by German giants Bayern Munich in the Audi Cup last night, as the Bavarians triumphed 4-1 at the Allianz Arena, a result that has led Ignazio Abate to lament the Rossoneri's hectic pre-season schedule.

The result has inevitably set off alarm bells. Milan have now conceded 12 goals in their last five outings, suffering their fourth straight defeat of their pre-season on Wednesday evening.

“We are very disappointed,” midfielder Abate ruefully admitted to the Diavoli’s official website.

“Losing this way is not pleasing. Four goals are a lot, but we are hampered by fatigue at the moment. We are not training as we should and the gap on our opponents pops out .

“We did rather well midway through the encounter, but then we struggled. I reckon we showed good things against Chelsea, so I think it’s only fair to believe in ourselves.

“We will soon go back to working properly and then we’ll be able to get our stamina back.”

Milan will be back in action tonight against Argentine side Boca Juniors, who lost 2-1 to Manchester United.

Milan To Restart Luis Fabiano Negotiations With Sevilla – Report
The Rossoneri are starting to reconsider plans for the striker after conceding 12 goals in four straight defeats...

Luis Fabiano
Milan are ready to restart negotiations for Sevilla striker Luis Fabiano following their fourth straight defeat.

The Rossoneri lost their opening Audi Cup match against Bayern Munich 4-1 on Wednesday night, a match in which there was no attacking threat from the Italians. Il Corriere Dello Sport claims Leonardo has now spoken with Adriano Galliani and told the club's vice president that he needs the Brazilian ace.

According to the report, Milan are now reconsidering plans for the hitman. The initial move earlier this month failed because Milan would not increase their €14m offer, which was ridiculed by the Spanish club.

Sevilla were in no mood to lower their asking fee, and after several rounds of talks the move collapsed. It is said that the Rossoneri are now looking to offer the Spanish side a deal that will see cash plus a player on a co-ownership deal go to Spain.

Voices surrounding the club suggest the other alternative could be Marc Janko from Salzburg. Milan would sign Janko to then use him as bait for bigger targets.

We also save the money from the wages of Kaka' ... anyway, you're right.

BTW:
Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani looked jaded as he arrived at a Lega Calcio meeting, telling journalists he will talk transfers with Leonardo tonight.

The Rossoneri have come under a lot of criticism of late even from their own Head Coach for not investing enough in the team despite selling Kaka for £56m.

“I will see Leonardo this evening in Munich and then we will speak, but there aren't any problems,” Galliani said.

Questioned about Milan's austere approach to the transfer market, Galliani replied: “Calm down, there is still time until August 31.

“The team played four games in America. Against Inter, for example, they had played on Tuesday while we had played on Thursday,” Galliani said, blaming Milan's 2-0 defeat on fixture congestion.

“We had to play a game more related to the Beckham deal and so we found ourselves more tired with just two days of rest in comparison with their five.”

Returning to the transfer market, journalists asked Galliani what kind of player he is trying to sign, a midfielder or a striker?

Galliani just shook his head and replied: “We'll see. We'll see.”

.....he is completely lost.....

Real Madrid Galactico Kaka: I Was Happy At Milan, But Then They Sold Me
The star has reflected on his Milan exit, and he insists it was the club who decided to sell...
30 Jul 2009 10:15:27

Former Milan ace Kaka has claimed it was the Italian side's decision to cash Spanish gold rather than his own will that pushed him to Real Madrid.

The Brazilian joined the new Galacticos in a mega-deal that saw the Italians earn around €66 million from the sale. Kaka has spoken about his San Siro exit, insisting the move was instigated by Milan.

"I always gave Milan the responsibility to decide on my exit when other clubs made an offer," Kaka told AS.

"I liked Milan and I was always happy there, but then the moment arrived when our objectives were no longer the same and they sold me.

"In six years many offers arrived, including from Real Madrid, but the club only decided to sell me this season."

Reports in Italy at the time of the sale claimed the Rossoneri sold Kaka in order to balance their books after pressure from the club's owners.

Calcio Debate: It's Too Late Now For Milan To Become Club 18-30
Silvio Berlusconi is demanding that Milan sign no more players over the age of 30, a policy Carlo Garganese believes has been implemented at least two years too late…
29 Jul 2009 13:30:33

Let’s not pull any punches here – things are looking really bleak for Milan as they head into the 2009-10 season. The Rossoneri lost all three of their World Challenge matches to Club America, Chelsea and Inter, having previously drawn 2-2 with Los Angeles Galaxy. Their only win of the summer so far was against little Varese.

While Milan have by no means been a disaster in any of the above tests, it has nevertheless been painfully obvious that the club are going to have a disappointing season unless they can sign at least two or three top class players – one in each outfield department. With the club’s financial problems all too public, this seems highly unlikely. So far this summer, only United States centre-back Oguchi Onyewu, Treviso teenager Gianmarco Zigoni, and loan returnees Ignazio Abate, Massimo Oddo and Davide Gennaro have arrived at the club – players who are unlikely to make too much difference this season.

Milan are stuck with a squad of whom 15 are over the age of 30, eight or nine of these being first-team starters. If the Diavoli were battling on just one front, this would be enough to worry a Milanista, but the thought of a bunch of 30-year-olds juggling Serie A and Champions League football twice-a-week for a hypothetical 50 games a season (plus Coppa Italia) is the stuff of nightmares.

Yesterday, owner Silvio Berlusconi reportedly stated that from now on, “We will be counting on players who are under 23. We will no longer buy players who are over 30.”

First of all, there is no definitive proof as yet that Berlusconi actually uttered these words. The quotes were neither from an interview nor a press conference, and they only were released into the media after Silvio was talking to two of his sycophants and an eavesdropper apparently heard what they were saying.

Assuming that Berlusconi does indeed want to revamp the squad - although it is a welcome development – this change in direction has arrived far too late. It has been clear since 2005 that Milan have needed freshening up, yet with the exception of Alexandre Pato, Mathieu Flamini (barely given a chance), Yoann Gourcuff (who was ditched) Thiago Silva and Marco Borriello (always injured and still unproven), the only players who have joined have been ageing former stars like Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Emerson and Gianluca Zambrotta.

While the old guard reached a Champions League semi-final in 2006, and then produced one legendary last hurrah the following year to win the big-eared cup, during this time Milan made no preparations for the after-life. Who were going to replace superstars Nesta, Maldini, Pirlo, Gattuso, Seedorf and Inzaghi once they got old?

While there was no reason to ditch these players, Milan should have begun a gradual evolution by signing two or three promising youngsters each summer who could learn their trade and eventually replace the veterans. Berlusconi and Adriano Galliani had no interest in pursuing such a policy, and continued to pompously insist that these old players were unbreakable and that there was no substitute for experience.

Carlo Ancelotti's Milan have been the stand-out team of the noughties, but the brilliance of the aforementioned players could only last so long, and now the club find themselves in a situation where they only have a few young players ready to start the new cycle. With seemingly no funds available to revolutionise the squad, it remains to be seen which under-23 players will be arriving.

This all could have been prevented if, from around 2005 right up until last summer, Milan had made some long-term plans. Tonight the Rossoneri tackle Bayern Munich in their latest pre-season friendly – another defeat and it is crisis time.
What are your views on this topic? Are Milan’s current problems a result of poor long-term planning? How will the Rossoneri fare this season? Goal.com wants to know what YOU think…

Carlo Garganese, Goal.com

This is what happened last seaosn. Milan needs to get owned a few times in friendlies before MGT realises there is something worng and considers buying!

Even if we Sign Fabiano or Huntelaar and then sign a good Left Back , we are still in need of more with those players if they came our midfield is still predictable slow and has very little creativity Dinho is showing that he is not interested in really making a go of things , we honestly need 2 defenders , 2 midfielders and a striker get rid of Seedorf , Oddo , Janku , Kaladze ,Pirlo (only pirlo because he is 30 and not going to get any better he is burned out and slow) but it isnt going to happen so even with 2 signings it only delays the inevitable or maybe it dosn't , too many players 32 + getting old and slow and losing form together.

What I would of given for Cissokho , Santacroce , Hernanes , Cassano and Huntelaar , ah well what can I do.

NO we don't need a complete makeover. Just note that we haven't really made any makeover whatsoever at this point. Well apart from bringing back Abate. We need a great fullback and forward and possibly a AM. With that we would be great again. Problem being how it doesn't look likely we will get great players for those positions, especially not the most urgent fullback.

Pato won't leave this summer, I'd be willing to bet my life on it. Unfortunately I don't think Dzeko will come either, him and Rossi would be my favourite forward targets. As they are both Milan fans I would be extra pleased.

Personal prediction: We will buy Fabiano.

Aquilani will be sold? Buy him and Sneijder and play Sneijder as an AM and you have great midfield. Dinho can .... off.

If we can get Sneijder, it will be great news for us. We need someone who can play in Seedorf's position and can help Dinho in attack. We cannot depend on Abate and Di Gennaro to play at the highest level.

Real have Kaka, Guti, Granero and van der Faart who can play in Sneijder's position. Also, Alonso is close to joining them. So they will have to offload someone. I hope Galliani can work some miracle with this guy.

Obstacles: We will have to pay him a lot more to match his Madrid Salary. Also, he has said that he wants to fight for his postion at RM. He has never mentioned his fondness for Milan either.

Fondness smondness. If we give the money he'll kiss the badge like most mercenaries.

If Berlu suddenly went money crazy I'd hope for Dzeko, Lavezzi, Afellay, Zapata, De Silverstri, Marchetti, and offload, kalac, Kaladze, favalli, Jankulosvki, Oddo.

My team would then be: Marchetti, Silva, Nesta, Zapata, Antonini, Abate, Flamini, Gattuso, Afellay, Lavezzi, Pato.

Don't wake me yet.....

I am not against Galliani, Berlu is the one to blame.

I think you are 100% right. The one example is Cissokho. Galliani wanted him, bought him, and Berlu pulled it back.

Let's look at the same thing with Luca Toni 3 YEARS AGO (I put that in bold so I wasnt ripped apart). Toni was ready to go to Milan for a medical after Galliani agreed to terms with him. Berlu stopped it. He heads for Bayern and nails 40 goals the next year.

It's a terrible thing that Berlu is doing. He always is trying to get his hands in the mix (picking formations, players, etc). Let the football people make the football decisions

Hey, guys, you know what? I think our fixture list could be a blessing in disguise! :D

Heres a very possible scenario that could happen for us:

August 23, Game 1 Vs Siena, we win, draw, or lose.

August 30, Game 2 Vs Inter, we lose big time. That said, we end up starting the season 3,5 or possibly 6 points behind Inter, two games into the season.

Fans begin rioting again :D

Galliani and Berlu panics and gives in to Leonardo's demands. August 31st, we go on a spending spree and bring in a few players (possibly at inflated prices). This, in the end turns our season around, even though we're stuck back in debt again.

Just think, we might be thanking our lucky stars that the Inter match happens JUST before the Mercato ends! :D

Or, Milan beats Siena with the existing team.
THen Gooch scores a header from a Dinho's corner in the 92nd min. to beat Inter.

Berlu will come out and say Milan are full of champions, more quality than Inter and Galli did a great job in getting Gooch for free.

Then all those so call POSITIVE FANS in this forum will be telling all those so call DOOM AND GLOOM fans that they should have give more credits to the players....

At the end, Milan crashes out of CL during group stages, finishes 9th and Berlu still comes out and say it was b/c of injuries and bad form from the players.

Which means Milan will not invest and play for trophys, and that is what KAka' wanted in his career, he said it milion times. Even, with that, he was ready to stay...

I told you right after I saw Berlusconi is selling Kaka' that this club is done untill Silvio leaves. No money will be inserted and best players will be sold. Milan couldnt guaranteed 1st team to Gourcuff? hahahaha, get real. Visit to France was an aliby flight for the fans. Clause in Yoan's contract was inpurpose to get more money this summer.

Milan will not be a top club untill Silvio sells it. He will take the money out of it as long as he can and will not take care of Milan's reputation anymore. If the man who runs the club doesnt do his work and doesnt care, fans need to protest and claim his resignation. But no...lets be optimistic. I will not beg, those of you who dream of great Dinho and super Pirlo can go and pay 50 euro to see Milan, I will not give anymore money to Berlusconi.

We are a small club now. Get used to it.

We cannot compete with anyone. Next year Pato will leave.

This is the reality. As I said before, I don't think I hate anyone more than that lying, conniving lowlife Berlusconi.

So, we have three options:

1) Support another club
2) Stop watching football
3) Continue supporting Milan, pray that Berlusconi gets lost and lower our expectations.

I am choosing 3.

think about it genius do you want milan to become another leeds united or lazio fiorentina?, before you go off being sarcastic do some research and talk to individuals from italy, genoa, roma, fiorentina, napoli who tell you how everything is so expensive in italy, do you want milan to collapse and start from scratch i mean Serie C? because thats a very high possibility considering the way the world is at the moment, Italy isnt the United States Espana England where you can just shell out money, with no re procussion, before you go off mouthing why can't we throw money around? because we dont know if the economic crisis will get worst, honestly do you believe that 85 million euro's will guarantee milan a CL and a Scudetto and a team like we had in 2000 to last till 07? be smart i know thats hard but just try i beleive in you

Wow, talk about being biased. You can talk trash about the majority of the forum and I could not be a sarcastic about what you said? Whatever, man, that is not important. But keep in mind that, if you use a rude tone in your writing, people are allowed to fight back.

Here is the real issue. I understand that you do not wish milan to become the next leeds, lazio or parma, but you seem to be missing one very important aspect of the issue here. Those teams you mentioned were not actual superpowers and stretched themselves far too thin financially to compete with the big boys in europe. The result was that they doomed themselves as they could not keep up with the constant greater revenue inflow of the major powerhouse teams. Milan, on the other hand, is a powerhouse team, or at least was. They are at least in the top 10 in terms of team revenue in the world. That means, with proper management, they can utilize their high income level to at least compete with the other powerhouse teams rather than acting like a Serie B team in the market. When the majority of the powerhouse teams run in red, there is no reason or excuse for milan to go off talking about how they are smarter than everyone else and wants to balance the books at all cost. The fact is, pro soccer as a sport has issues because the only way to win is by running in red all the time, so don't hate the players, hate the game. This is how professional soccer teams have to do to stay competitive and there is nothing milan can do to change it no matter how much you believe so.

As far as asking Italians goes, it just so happened that I recently went on a trip to Italy. And all I can tell you is, though prices there aren't cheap, they are not that much worse than Switzerland and France (the other two countries I went to). You can sit there and cry all you want, but the fact still remains that Inter and Juve are doing a hell of a good job in the market in the exact same financial atmosphere. So, don't go around and act like everybody else is crazy and you are the only rational one, because you might have more knowledge than everybody else (or you don't, i don't know you that well) but the fans are not blind and they can see facts for themselves.

After reading this post and the one before... I came to the conclusion that if all top teams are in debt, they will be relegate in their league and will not be in CL.

That means, Milan will win the league and CL when all these big debt clubs can't even get into the competitions. Berlu is a genius for making Milan champions by not spending a cent. BRAVO BERLU.....

The guy is soon 73, has had a pacemaker for quite a while now, and takes perversely high doses of ''blue-pills'' very often.... he will die sooner or later.

And his ''children'', who are not at all as fanatic as Berlu claims to be, will sell the club directly since they know they will just have to pay monies. At that point the Arab sheik who bought us will be willing to make us great again.

Good points, but you're forgetting that we are not a big club anymore. We will be in a dogfight with Sampdoria I think this year.

The Juves, Inters, Barcas, and Reals of this world are the big clubs. We can only feed on Real's scraps. We are pathetic. We should look with envy at the big clubs because we cannot compete with them in any department.

We have to get this in our head, if we are not to be disappointed. Until Berlusconi decides to get the hell out of this club (I don't even care what he has done in the past), our club will remain a minnow mired in hellish political calculations.

Hehehe...:D

We have to resign ourselves to hopelessness because the club itself does not want to remain ambitious. Why bother hoping then? If things work out, great. If not, then it is par for the course.

However, my excessive pessimism is not completely unfounded. We have been mercilessly taken apart by all and sundry this pre-season. Our glorious president took a break from his sordid activities to inform us that we will not buy players who earn a lot--that is, players who have real quality. Our former best player has just announced he was sold because his ambitions did not match Milan's. I don't think he is completely blameless, but it makes you think that things are looking very very bleak. Also, our former captain, who gave everything to his club, was vilified by semi-literate thugs upon his farewell.

As for Andy Gray, he may actually look like Tim Vickery over the next few seasons if he forecasts Milan's demise as boldly as he did.

So...yeah...

Milan were humiliated by Bayern Munich on Wednesday evening in the Audi Cup, losing 4-1 to the Bavarians. The Rossoneri have endured a string of four consecutive defeats in pre-season and their former coach, Arrigo Sacchi, commented on their troubles.

"Thus far, we have seen the worst of Milan, due to a programme that was not suited to building up the team. I believe it will be difficult for them to buy players, the attack could remain as it is," he explained to Radio Radio TV.

"The problem is not Pato, but that the club is constricted by the long contracts of some players."

Nonetheless, 63-year-old Sacchi insists all is not lost for the Serie A giants.

"In football it is OK to do badly at this time and then have a positive reaction in the championship. AC Milan should show character and not fall into a collective depression."

Sacchi had plenty of success coaching Milan from 1987-1991, winning the Serie A title and two European Cups.

You know, many of us have good reason to be angry. Many might dismiss me as someone who is on the kool-aid of "optimism." However, can we just take a moment to realize what we're saying here?

I think we underestimate the importance Carlo was to this team. He obviously understood how to get results without listening to what Berlu said. To those who are cheering on Leonardo for "standing up" to Berlu, and saying that is what Carlo lacked, at least Carlo stood up to Berlu where it mattered: on the field.

We have had a more congested pre-season than any of the teams we've faced, and don't take my word for it, Leonardo, the voice of the people, has said that this is a major reason behind Milan's pre-season setbacks.

I have to agree. Watching Milan, we always seem tired. It's not even about how we play, it's not that we are playing badly. I've seen that, we look different when we play badly, we are playing tired.

To dismiss Abate is unfair, of all the new faces at Milan, he is the one that has impressed me the most. Onyewu, honestly, disappoints me more than Senderos. However, the thing that I am puzzled about is why hasn't Albertazzi played at all? Isn't he supposed to be someone we should use this season to blood for the future?

Then, I think, maybe this season will be harsh and will force our young players to rise to the occasion? Maybe Zigoni will pull a Paloschi? Albertazzi a Santon?

I said this months ago, but I fear that this is true: Leonardo is no Capello, it seems we are entering a Tabarez, Zac, Terim era and I hate to say that. I have never understood why getting rid of Carlo would be good for the team, especially when it was Leonardo who would be there to replace him.

To say our entire team needs a revolution is not only misguided, but also, it underrates the sort of work that has happened so far in pre-season. The major issue I have with Leonardo is that he has failed to offer a solid team formation that will be the basis for Milan this coming season. He has tried every formation except the one that has brought us success when times were tough: the 4-3-2-1.

Ronaldinho was a creative force today, and the only thing stopping us from winning handily, was the bad finishing of Pato and Borriello. Onyewu continues to dissappoint, and the only full back worthy of starting for Milan continues to be Zambrotta. Antonini is inconsistent, but not in a Janku or Bonera method. It is not that he makes glaring errors, he makes a few small ones that build up, there is something off and it seems that what small errors he does commit, become bigger issues for another defender to deal with.

Let's say Milan gets, Dzeko, Crisicto, and Hernanes (non-EU issues aside); can we really shift from Milan's 4-3-2-1 this season? Flamini and Abate are clearly capable of playing in the Barca-styled 4-3-3, but, Abate is not ready yet, and Flamini is only one player. Maybe next year, but this year, Leonardo needs to swallow his pride and realize that Carlo's 4-3-2-1 is not the best formation on earth, but it is the best formation for what we have.

I'm not sure transfers really are the issue here, in fact, it isn't even the players we have. It's not about losing Kaka, it's about what formation we're putting out right now. There were gaps where Kaka was gone and we still played well, so let's not be melodramatic. The reality is that Leonardo seems better designed to be an assistant manager than the man in charge, and quite frankly, it is showing.

That being said, had Borriello and Pato put their chances away, this would be a very different story, and frankly, that is the game of football. I just wonder, can we wait for them to finally hit form, or do we go with the formation that is safest and seems to ensure we get the results we deserve?

He looks faster, slimmer, and his tricks are actually working. If you look at the amount of through passes he provided that should have been put away, I'm not sure if things look that bleak anymore.

I think it more of a case that commentators and supporters wanted younger players at Milan and Carlo seemed so obstructive to the thought of introducing anyone under the age of 30 to the team. Leonardo was also suppose to introduce several of the primavera side which according to most milan fans have vast hidden potiential and will revolutionise the club, personally i wanted carlo to stay but it obvious now that he left because the management were so keen to introduce the new transfer policy.

I do agree that Zigoni Di gennaro and Albertazzi are vastly talented players but not ready to full the shoes of maldini kaka and shevchenko, they still are at the beginning of their careers and will take a considerable time to reach a world-class level. i can't see the youth players at Milan being a short term solution to are problems we do need new signings

the tactical situation is simple the team on paper is best suited to a 4-3-3 formation these are the best tactics that milan can use unless we sell pirlo and ronaldihno and to adapt to a different tactical make up. The solution isn't tactic we aren't losing because of a lack of innovation it more to do with the team morale the age of the players and the negativity of the tifosi. i agree leo needs to make the best use of his resources but with a miss mash team likes ours and the fact that we have lost some influential players his options are extremely limited.

Dzeko deal could still be possible, or its about Luca Toni :) Dzeko and Sneijder could improve our team for real. To me Sneijder is a hugely underrated player that can do well in Milan. Also tactically, as he is able to play in front of Flamini and Rino, while Pirlo is obviously not anymore.

Aldough the best solution would be we keep Pirlo and buy Sneijder, it seems we need more money for the fictive books.

WOW I didnt expect him to play that good so soon into pre-season. I mean its only a video clip, but I'd like to ask the others who saw the game - was he really as good as that video clip or did he have more bad moments?

He was good when he played against Chelsea and LA. He is improving every game and today's highlights show how important he is to our attack. Most of the promising chances are created through him. I think people should simply stop criticizing him.

Yes.... He is getting more form back as it goes on. Borrielo choked 2 times that i saw. Pato had a great pass too. If those were scored, he would of been hailed tonight.

ronaldinho looked incredible today showed strength and ran up midfield, it seems like every game we've been unlucky we need 1 - 2 pieces for the puzzle and we're a serious challenge in the italian championship again and in the UEFA CL anything can happen, all ronaldinho needs to do is finish, pato missed a couple of sitters, but it's okay no harm done it's the audi cup, i wasen't even aware this cup existed the media just loves to make milan seem we're all 80 yrs old, when the majority of top clubs in the world have players knocking on the door of 30 yea ok....

The only game in preseason where Ronaldinho looked like the lethargic zombie of the past two years was when he played in the 4411. It's obvious he needs a whole pack around him to make him some space, he can't be so far upfield alone with Pato. Also, he played 45 minutes yesterday, and 90 minutes today. Leo is really working him like a donkey. Good show!

The 4-3-2-1 worked well with Seedorf and Kaka playing as our two attacking midfielders and Pato/Ronaldo as the lone striker. Reason it worked well was because Seedorf provided a bit of stability in midfield and Kaka provided the change of pace going forwards. I don't think we have the personnel to play that formation anymore. Dinho and Seedorf would be too slow as AM's. I prefer the formation Leo is planning to play 4-3-1-2 with Dinho as the AM in a free role, dropping back to pick up the ball or drifting to the wings and Pato being the link-up second striker playing around the box with a strong targetman in front. Only problem is, we don't have that strong targetman yet. I haven't been too impressed by what Boriello is showing so far....

It will be another publicity tactic by Berlusconi. He will make the fans feel the risk of being owned by a company which will clog the arteries of our players and fans with rich nutella. In the end he will come out and say that he won't be selling Milan and saving the club from an Apocalypse.

Berlu will literally take Milan to the grave.

Don't think he'll sell the club. He hasn't gotten less rich has he? (especially being PM of Italy)...I don't see him investing as heavily, as he probably wants to prove a point that a team can win trophies without signing many superstars.

I really hope we get bought out by Ferrero, that way I can find little ways to support Milan that taste wonderful.

Being able to buy Nutella and support Milan at the same time? Honestly, what could be better?

I think you stole my idea. :1ang: Or, great minds think alike. :pp20:

Below is the post I had in another thread (the calendar one).

but at the same time, inter don't need eto'o to screw us over, yet we do need abbiati who won't be available by then.

of course, good things might still happen. consider this: we lost 0-10 to inter at home on august 30th, berlusconi was so ashamed that he finally decided to pay the girls, and on top of that, 100m for buffon, 100m for ribery, 100m for villa, 100m for essien, all secured in one day and announced at 11:58pm on august 31st. and milan went on and won 36 games in a row, and won the 18th scudetto with a record-setting 108 points. :D

WAKE UP, PEOPLE (myself included)! :tired:

out of curiosity, would everyone here have been more satisfied with-
a) the 68 mil we got for Kaka; or
b) Huntelaar, Robben, Sneijder, and Drenthe?

Milan fans are bracing themselves for another high-profile defection as Andrea Pirlo looks set to reunite with Carlo Ancelotti at Chelsea.

The former Diavoli boss has made no secret of his desire to lure Pirlo to Stamford Bridge and the Corriere dello Sport today claims that the 30-year-old said his goodbyes to his friends and colleagues at Inter after last Sunday’s Derby della Madonnina clash in Boston.

“This was my last derby game,” he reportedly said.

Press reports suggest that the Premier League giants have seen a €14.5 million bid, which also included the services of Claudio Pizarro and the loan of Michael Mancienne, rejected earlier this week.

But there is room to negotiate and discussions between the parties are expected to continue in the coming days.

Pirlo is tied to the San Siro outfit until June 2011 on wages of €5m-a-year, but he has allegedly been offered a four-year deal by Chelsea worth €6.5m-per-season.

Milan have already parted with Brazilian superstar Kaka this summer - the 27-year-old joined Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid in a €67.5m deal.

As the Silvio Berlusconi's Milan continue to struggle for funds amidst the current financial crisis, it seems work is currently underway for Adriano Galliani to mount a takeover bid.

The Rossoneri’s lack of action on the transfer market has caused obvious unrest amongst the fans, who have seen their side begin the pre-season with a run of four consecutive defeats.

With the grumblings set to grow in volume, it is believed that Galliani is working overtime to pave the way for new owners to carry the club forward and bring it from its knees.

According to Tuttosport, the man affectionately known as 'Uncle Fester' is planning to head a group of Israeli businessmen who are ready to invest a substantial sum in the Via Turati club.

It remains to be seen how this move will unfold as Milan continue to struggle in the build-up to the new season.
