The big nmes will take a while to come in, but whilst this is happening, Milan should be doing nothing but adding youth and defenders to our system. W e have started, but not exactly adressed the defense problem just yet....

oh yeah...Kaka's presenting at RealM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzxMn4nrQVE
You like that huh, I will think of more soon, as it is just really boring discussing about Berlu lacks of action.

Aly Cissokho Wants Only Milan - Agent
It seems like the soap opera is not over yet, with the Rossoneri still a chance to sign the Frenchman..
Roger Boli, agent of Porto defender Aly Cissokho, is certain that his client has just one destination in mind this summer: Milan.
These comments arrive just after the transfer rumours indicated that Inter had overtaken the Rossoneri in the race for the French player, but according to Boli, this is nothing more than paper talk.
"Our desire is that of playing for the Rossoneri," affirmed the player's agent to Sportmediaset.it. "Porto and Milan are still in contact and therefore we have not activated ourselves for any other solution.
"There were some problems, but the player's will is to come to Italy and wear the Milan shirt. We still wait.
"We gave ourselves a few more days, then if there we don't reach the solutions we had set, then we will start looking around and contact other clubs."
Many journalists in Italy believe that Milan are doing this to lower the price on Cissokho and buy him at a discounted fee, but this way they might also risk losing him to another club.
Glenn Debattista (goal.com)
So it looks likes Aly Cissoko is still our man? If you could choose between him and Criscito who would you choose?

So Nemanja Vidic just said this to The Sun:
"I got offers from Milan, Barcelona and Real Madrid and I played a very honest game — I disclosed all these offers to my boss Sir Alex [Ferguson]. He reacted quickly."
First, if anyone doubts are status, we are in the same breath as Barcelona, Madrid, and Man Utd (obviously) so when it comes to players' opinion of Milan, it is definitely still very high.
However, I'm a little shocked that Milan actually bid for him. That means we are probably in the market for a CB, and that we are obviously willing to spend money.
I'm not sure if Vidic would fit in Serie A, though I realize he's great, but I'm just happy that there is evidence (if this is true) that Milan are shopping seriously for targets. Plus, it's not like he's trying to get a new contract, he all ready has his huge pay raise (from 20,000 a week to 70,000)
I guess this is just a positive indication of Milan's intention to bring us what we need.

-Mandanda (First goal-keeper for France, and has out-classed his closest rival Lloris this season.
Really? Lloris was probably the top keeper in Ligue 1 this season. There's no truth to the (old) rumors that Mandanda wants to come over here anyway.
As of right now, Dida is the #1 until Abbiati returns. That being said, I say keep our GK stable intact (even Kalac, as you gotta take the bad with the good) for one last year, then pounce on Marchetti after next season.

The ONLY schmuck in Milan fandom who believes Dida should stay.
Yeah, perhaps you could argue that our keeping situation is fine, but i have this gut feeling that it is going to cause us problems next season. There is every possibility that Abbiati's injury will become chronic, and then what?
I prefer not to wait a season for Marchetti, since he is in high demand not only from Italian clubs. He could be gone this year even, so.....
Check out Rene Adler; he might fit the bill as Milan's new keeper.
And, i still repsect your opinion, but i feel that the defense, including goalkeeping needs to be adressed.
So calciomercato.com claims Galliani is planning to have a direct work with Domenico Criscito of Genoa with the goal of making him Thiago Silva's partner in the coming season. Very little else is disclosed.

If such is true, then Cissoko is over. Howver, atleast this player has experience in Serie A. There would be little adjustment period.

How so? Criscito is a cb, cissokho is a lb.
I'd swap money + Janku for Criscito.
Window open still no genuine transfers except a bunch of kids that either aren't ready or came back from loan. Next excuse from the kool aid gang: 'we have a whole 2 months' :wallbang:

Crisito is great and if they can get Vargas for Fiorentina too, that will be a better transfer than Cissohko. As these two transfer will weaken two rivals, Genoa and Viola.
Actually thats pretty sad as our competition is no longer Inter or Juve for the Title but rather Genoa and Viola for the CL spot.

I second that. Atleast the essence of it. Kaka seems to have become the new Judas suddenly. So he went away for greener pastures. So will Pato in a few years.. can you blame them? Does this club seem likely to win trophies in the near future? There's no reason to hate him just becasue he isn't Maldini.

Some sweet rumors from tgcom. I'm sure it's good medicine for some of you!!:coffee:

If Sportmediaset is reporting correctly, the price shouldn't be a problem.
Hunterlaar according the article will get him on loan as a Thank you for the Kaka's deal, while Zhirkov although wanted by Chelsea said that he only wants Milan or Barca. It is estimated that with 15 million can reach an agreement.

Don't know why we're linked with Huntelaar. He's not a Target-man, he's not much of anything actually, just a poor-mans Inzaghi. And in all fairness, I don't think Pato works best with a player like Inzaghi if we're gonna play with two strikers. He played the best football playing alone up front this season, and when he played with Inzaghi, Inzaghi scored alot of goals, but Pato seemed to Dissapear.
Dzeko is a big striker, and unlike Huntelaar he can actaully play football. Same with Fabiano who is a really strong and skilled striker. Anyways I'm sure Huntelaar could score alot of goals in Milan, but I don't think he's what we need. Plus he's already flopped in Real Madrid, although I don't hold that against him, since Franco FC don't give players a chance anyways... Dzeko > Fabiano > Huntelaar.

Oh my god......you have really embaressed yourself with your comments on Huntelaar and it shows you probably have seen maybe MAYBE one game of him....
He flopped at Real,WTF?Look at his scoring chart at Real the guy was brought in in January and he just just recovered from injury,he had soooo much pressure because they(club and fans)expected him to solve the problems in front etc. and he did in only a half year!!!
You say he is not capable of playing football?IMO it is Dzeko who is the big clumsy striker with no speed etc and a limited technique,Huntelaar is the one who can play football with the team and set up attacks and score goals trough individual actions. And btw: The Guy is one of the best poachers in the world, no doubt about it.
You clearly have not seen him play, otherwise you would have seen that he scored goals with backflips and incredible curling free-kicks.
To bad to bad.....
Huntelaar in many respects is right for Milan. I mean, what other options are there? Fabiano (who will be expensive), Adebayor (Hell no)?
Apparently we are trying to get him on loan, and i highly doubt that will work.
And yes, if it costs Milan 30 million for Dzeko, then why not? Our mentality so far in the transfers has gotten no one except kids! Perhaps a bit harsh, and i am not suggesting that we pay over-exaggerated prices like Madrid, but we should stop playing hard-ball.

Saying Huntelaar "flopped" at Madrid is probably too harsh, but he wasn't a success either. 8 goals in 20 games is a pretty good rate for a player who only arrived in January. But there's a reason why he wasn't the first choice striker at Madrid: he IS a limited player. He is NOT a creative player and isn't very involved with the build up. He's the sort of player that when he doesn't score, he doesn't play well. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, though - look at RVN, Pippo etc.
Btw, I completely agree that Pato should play up front, not as a supporting striker or winger. As I've said before, we really ought to go with a 4-3-3 formation next season, with Pato as the CF, Dinho on the left, and a new striker (like Rossi) on the right. But naturally this wouldn't be a static system, the player would interchange a la Barca.

To bad to bad.....
Please... Huntelaar started off in Real Madrid being considered a flop after having played really poorly in his first couple of games. Then he had 3 or 4 really good games against teams they beat 3, 4 - 0 and after that he went back to his old ways of not scoring. Basicly all his goals were scored in games where they scored 5+ goals, and in a very short period.
If he was such a succes in Real Madrid, then how come he hasn't scored a single goal since march? And how come everyone think he's leaving Real Madrid after just 6 months? Actually I remember his last couple of months from Real Merda very well, and I remember that whenever he played he was terrible. Like I said the guy was bought for 20M'ish euro's, and he could've potentially have played 20-something games, yet he has only played 3 or 4 good games for Real Madrid, if that's not a flop then I don't know what is. But like I said, I don't hold his time at Madrid to much against him.
He might have setup up attacks etc. at Ajax, I wouldn't know, but he sure as hell didn't do that at Real Madrid, like I said, except for his 4 good games, he didn't really do much of anything. But please don't compare his skill on the ball to Fabiano or Adabayor, because those two are on another planet than Huntelaar when it comes to skill on the ball.
But the main reason I don't think Huntelaar is the right man for us, as I said, is that I simply don't think he's a player with the characteristics that we're looking for. I consider him a goal-scorer, and yes we do need a goalscorer, but we don't need one more Inzaghi.

Christian, you are acting like Huntelaar only scored two goals in 16 games or so,while he acctually scored 8 goals in 20 games while many of those games he came in as a substitute, you are talking about the fact he played terrible in the first couple of games, but that is also not true, the guy made his debut with only 45 minutes, and he couldnt score in those 45 minutes and then Ramos put him on the bench, when he got a another chance(i cannot call 45 minutes a chance but...)he scored like 7 goals in 5 games.
Ok,Fabiano and Adebayor are better in terms of technique, but i can also say Huntelaar is waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy better in terms of headers and finishing skills,or in terms of age.
You make Huntelaar sound like a Pippo kind of player but he isnt Pippo, you can compare him with Pippo because he also has a awsome header and his finishing skills are almost perfect as those of Inzaghi, but unlike Pippo Huntelaar can take free-kicks,he can play soccer outside the ball etc.
With Ronaldinho and Pato probably in the starting XI we dont need another player with good technique but a strong (big) guy who just can finish chances of and who can head the ball.
We dont need Fabiano or Ade,because we already have Pato and Dinho. We need another Pippo only then with more skills in his play and that guy is: HUNTELAAR.
I'm not sure what to make of some of the comments about Huntelaar being made. He wouldn't fit in Milan? Did Marco van Basten not fit in Milan? Because that's who Huntelaar has always been compared to because of his playing style and his tremendous goalscoring ability. He can use and score with both feet or with his head. He's athletic. He has good technique. What do you want?
Louis van Gaal, the former Barcelona and Netherlands coach (and new coach at Bayern Munich) said of Huntelaar "In the box, he is the best player in the world, bar none."
Funny, but the past couple of summers it seemed posters here were just wanking over Huntelaar and couldn't understand why Milan didn't make a move for him. Now that there's some possibility that he may actually end up in Milan, half of you think he's not good enough.

I also dont get it Rick,he proved he wasnt a striker who only can score goals in a minor league like the Eredivisie,he made goals in Spain and more importantly at the NT of Holland.
He even made goals in the C.League with Ajax a couple of years ago,do you want to know against who: It was against Inter.Even at young age he impressed on the big stage.
He is one of the best, period.

No player is perfect. Not Kaka. Not Ronaldo. Neither Maradona nor Pele were perfect. But the object of the game is to score goals. Any time you add a guy who can score goals in bunches for your team, it's a good thing.
Anyway, for those who think Milan is the only Italian club being cheap in the transfer market:
Discussions between Chelsea and Inter Milan over a possible switch to Italy for defender Ricardo Carvalho and midfielder Deco have collapsed. The Blues value the pair at £12m while the Nerazzurri are unwilling to go beyond £6m.
If that's the case, I wouldn't mind Milan going after Carvalho (the fact that people would ***** about his age notwithstanding). He could really solidify the central defense for the next two or three years and he would come fairly cheap.

I really have hoped that Inter wouldnt get Carvalho, sorry to say but the guy is World-class,he is a great defender and its only for Alex being at Chelsea that he doesnt play.
Hope we get him instead of Inter, also Gallas is a good option, can also play as LB or RB.
Gallas-Nesta-Silva-Zambrotta.
I think this i arguably one of the best defense in the world.

I read some back and forth a few pages back about Criscito's position. I'm almost 100% sure that he's a LB. He was very good for the U-21s at LB and definitely played that position. Bochetti and Andreolli were the CBs for the tournament. How about this for a back line :)

Look what Sacchi had to say.
AC Milan And Inter Looking Good, Not Sure About Juventus - Arrigo Sacchi
Arrigo Sacchi commented on the transfer campaigns of Inter, AC Milan and Juventus.
30 Jun 2009 20:37:05
Today former AC Milan and Italy coach Arrigo Sacchi gave an interview to La Gazzetta dello Sport in which he talked about the transfer campaigns of Serie A's Big Three so far.
First of all, he discussed the Rossoneri's new policy of buying less glamorous players despite Kaka's high profile move to Real Madrid.
"The fans are complaining about Kaka's departure and the club's decision to stop signing big names. However, they should have been alarmed before, when the club invested too much money on players who were in the twilight of their careers.
"[Silvio] Berlusconi and [Adriano] Galliani are great managers, but lately they have gone against their innovative spirit. Now, as intelligent people, they have changed their course and I very much trust their abilities and intuitions: I'm sure the new Milan won't disappoint."
Sacchi then moved on to discuss current champions Inter, who he thinks have made some good moves so far.
"The great Inter of [Massimo] Moratti and [Jose] Mourinho have bought [Diego] Milito, who is a striker that gives guarantees on a professional and technical level," he continued. "Thiago Motta is mainly a technical guarantee, but if Mourinho can reduce his exuberance he could be very important. The future arrival [Ricardo] Carvalho would improve the defence's technical level, while Deco is a more risky investment..."
He was less enthusiastic about Juventus, saying "the Bianconeri have needed a playmaker who can dictate the tempo, and give geometry and fluidity to their football. The ideal player would be [Gaetano] D'Agostino, [Cristian] Ledesma, while Real Madrid's [Mahamadou] Diarra is more of a destroyer. Diego is a great purchase, but I have my doubts about [Fabio] Cannavaro and [Giorgio] Chiellini's tactical compatibility."
Danilo Pochini, Goal.com
I'll think Sacchi's opinion is a little bit different than some of our posters here,
Hmmmm.......but not sure!!!!:devf::rocky::ilol:
Sacchi's opinion is fine, but it's one thing to hear about Milan's new approach (something I've agreed with) and it's another to see action. Right now, we're seeing some very shoddy looking work being done in the transfer market by Galliani, which may appear as though we're buying long term prospects that aren't yet stars, but at the same time, nothing's actually been done yet.
I read some back and forth a few pages back about Criscito's position. I'm almost 100% sure that he's a LB. He was very good for the U-21s at LB and definitely played that position. Bochetti and Andreolli were the CBs for the tournament. How about this for a back line :)
------Zambro-----Nesta/Silva------Santacroce----Criscito
An all-Italian backline...remember those days :) . But than again, my wishes can be far-fetched!!
I think Cristico can play both CB and LB. Wouldn't mind getting him if we can.

Can someone help me out with "loan" deals. I know the ownership stays with the team who loaned the player out, BUT, does the team who receives the player for the loan always have an option to buy out the player? I remember when Gourcuff was sold to Bourdeax last month they discussed the transfer fee.
The reason I ask is if we take Huntelaar and than want to buy next summer, i'm afraid his price will be jacked up if he performs well for us next year. Wouldnt it be better to buy him straight out? I know with loans you have the time to say goodbye if they do not perform well, but still a risk.
I think he's proven, I think they should jump for him...

goal.com is crap when reporting about transfers and stuff. when it come to editorials and debates they actually have some great writing there, so no surprise here. I read the artivcle and its really good. I simply dont know why we dont go for at least 2-3 out of those given names. We can boost our squad depth with huge talent

Loan deals can be either way. Usually with more established players there is an option to buy and I would expect that would be the case with Huntelaar. I wouldn't mind seeing Milan buy him straight out, but if they can get a loan with an option to buy at a certain price (like Bordeaux with Gourcuff) that would be safer because you have a chance to see how the player is going to settle before you make your final decision.
People tend to make players 5 times better once they sign for Milan. Di Gennaro wasnt a main player even in Reggina, who went to serie b. Im not sure he started in first 11 more then 50% of the games.
What do you expect from him? To play as a ACM for AC Milan? In Kaka's role? Its laughable at least.
Criscito is Juve's future, those speculations are impossible. Our new LB will be Cissokho. Aldough Criscito will be a great defender one day.
Huntelaar would arrive in Milan on a loan with an option to buy. Surprised? No money spent again.
How are the season tickets doing? Almost 500 ah? Rock on Galliani!:rotfl:
And about the new young Cf's we took. Dont be surprised that we sell Pato in a year or two and say we have our attacking future solved in these guys. Its all planned I can bet.
Did u see the welcome of Madrid's fan to Kaka ????
After his titel of best player in South Africa ( def.not deserved) he will have a lot of pressure in Madrid...will he be able to handle that ??
Apart from the games of Milan, I was also wondering if you ( fans from the forum) will watch the games of Madrid ( because of Kaka) or rather Barça ( because of the joga football)

I just love Kwadwo Asamoah. I'd be very happy to see him at Milan. I'd love to have Simon Kjaer as well.

What would be wrong with that? Milan would have a chance to see how well he settles in Italy before spending the money next year.

I'll watch more Real Madrid games this year than I ever have before, but it will have absolutely nothing (at least directly) to do with Kaka. I'll watch more because ESPN will be showing La Liga games here in the U.S. (mostly Madrid and Barcelona games if ESPN's track record is any indication). But I'll be much more eager to watch Barcelona because I've always liked the way they play (and have much better feelings toward the club than I have toward Real Madrid).
I think Kaka will do just fine at Madrid, but I'm not convinced that as a team they'll be anything special. There is only one ball in the game at any one time.

Cristico has been fully sold by juve to genoa i think so it's unlikely he's their future
Hmmm...I don't know if that's true. He was loaned out.
Mrki,
I don't see how anyone is making Di Gennaro 5 times the better player he is. No one here is saying that he'll take Kaka's position, Ronaldinho will do that (I'm not saying I agree with that nor am I interested to start a debate whether he can play in the center or he'll be played out wide..........all I am saying is that we are stuck with Ronaldinho now and all things from the management point to that).
So Di Gennaro will be a back up. People here have begged for our own players to be given a chance for a long time now. Yelling and cursing why we used to pay 7/8 mil for old back ups like Emerson who don't play more then 10 games a season anyway, rather then promote our own youth and allow them to grow. So how is this making Di Gennaro 5 times better then he is is beyond me. He will probably not make more then 12/13 appearances (1/3 of games in serie a) and most of them will be as a sub. It will allow the youngster to grow. If he plays more then that it will be because he has impressed the people in training who will watch him play every day.
He is a talented youngster that was on top of his age group a couple of years ago. He only turned 21 two weeks ago and at 20 he made 24 appearances in Serie A for Reggina (yes most of them were as a substitute....he only started 7 games). And that's fine, that's what we want. I would much rather have Di Gennaro here to give me 10 games next season as a back up (he has the talent to be a back up, he just needs to be given the chance and the belief), rather then pay 10 mil for a 30+ year old Emerson who will make 4mil a season and still only make 10 appearances anyway. These are the types of signings that got us here and you know that.
Hmmm...I don't know if that's true. He was loaned out.
Genoa fully signed him from Juventus.
http://www.goal.com/en/scores/transfer-zone?lid=69
I don't know how credible this is though, and I'm pretty sure I saw it on another site as well. However, it might be a co-ownership again. There is too much 50% purchases, then loans, then purchases again....it's hard to keep up with it. I'm trying to find another source now to see what exactly happened to Criscito.
Huntelar is a very good player, but the problem is that he is a kind of player who needs creative and quick attacking midfielders behind him to create chances...then it's no problem for him anymore, he'll deliver.
Real wasn't good last season and if Milan ends up with this midfield we have today, he'll probably flop here as well.
Otherwise, if he played in Barca or Man Utd, he'd be very productive.
....just my opinion, anyway, better than Ade
What? Eh? Who? Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I'm surprised no one (galliani-leo-silvio) considers pato as our striker!! he played his best games a our front man with kaka and dinho/seedorf/brocchi behind him. He is so much better as a striker then as a winger or suport striker!
I would sign a winger/suport striker to complete our attack (dinho-pato).
Cassano or Rossi, strange the management doesnt even consider this.

The point is that we need a more physical striker next to Pato.
Getting one more "small" attacker would prove to be too weak against defensive Serie A teams.
We need someone to wrestle with defenders while Pato and Ronnie pull out wide to brake the defense to cross/pass.
A younger Drogba would be ideal...

On the brighter side, Milan is the only club that sympathises with the people who've suffered from the economic crisis. While the squad is like a family, the club has a humane soul that feels the pain of those who've lost their jobs. Hence the lack of spending.
The club is lead by a philanthropist, that's the least he can do for his people.
I was just watching this compilation of Huntelaar's goals at Real Madrid. I would think a player with his instincts around the goal and his ball control would be a welcome addition to any club.

I would be satisfied with Klaas as a year loan. Then Dzeko. Don't forget, we still have Borri as our destroyer.

So does this mean Huntelaar is coming to Milan?
They had too many attackers even before Benzema.
Kaka, CR, Raul, Higuain, Van Nisterooy, Huntelaar, Robben, Bueno, Benzema....
Benzema and Raul will probably be their star attackers, Kaka and CR star attacking midfielders, with Robben and Higuain coming in from the bench.

Lyon have agreed on Benzema deal with Real.. It's official.
I think he's making a mistake going to such a high profile place. There'll be too much pressure and competition. Should go to Manure where he'd be guaranteed a starting place.

Man, now Wolfs is only going to raise Dzeko's price as there aint alot of tall big strong and young striker left in the market.
Well, i guess Galli and Berlu must have a plan.
BTW, who cares if Liga have all those Spainish players with Kaka, CR7, Messi, Eto, Benzema, Henry, Fabiano, Alves......
Series A got Seedorf, the only playing 4 time CL winner in football, thats more than what Kaka+Henry+Fabiano+CR7+Benzema had won.

Back in early nineties, B&G had a plan to collect all the top players so that Milan can field two different teams in serie A and UCL. Back then B had the money and was willing to spend them to the point that it irritated the whole world (including the Pope if I wasn't mistaken). Very much like what happens nowadays with RM

Well, the fact that I don't think Huntelaar's goal-poaching skills depend on any particular other player notwithstanding, why would Ronaldinho not be able to play successfully as a trequartista? Just because Barcelona used a 4-3-3? Actually, Ronaldinho's game is probably a more natural fit in the position than Kaka's, especially if Leonardo plays a 4-3-1-2. It's not a position that requires great speed, but rather a position that requires the ability to pass, dribble and pull strings in the offense. Riquelme certainly never had great speed. Even Zidane's genius came from his playmaking ability, not from blazing speed. Ronaldinho is a more audacious and probably a more creative playmaker than Kaka. Nobody is more elegant with the ball. If, say, Pato and Huntelaar are playing in front of him, opposing defenses will fear his unique methods of getting the ball to the strikers. Kaka was more conservative, more direct. He, at this point, is a better one-on-one player, always knowing exactly the right moment to streak past opponents toward the goal. But in the matter of creating chances for his teammates, I'm not sure he's superior to Ronaldinho (assuming, of course, that Ronaldinho takes this opportunity to prove himself and to win a spot on Brazil's World Cup team with the hunger that he should -- and it's hard for me to imagine that he won't).
The thing is they actually done that and if I am not wrong Milan had 4 CL finals in a row or something like that.
Well we had 3 finals, in 1993 against Marseille, 1994 against Barcelona, and 1995 against Ajax. But if I'm not mistaken the core of the team is still those Italian players from Sacchi's era and only 3 foreign players were allowed to be fielded at the same time. What RM is doing now is either gonna succeed admirably or spectacularly failed. They have achieved both with their first Galacticos.

True, but this team is a lot more balanced (no more Pavon in the back four) and younger than that old one. Even the oldest star in Kaka has at least another four years on top of his game.
The coach is the key. Too much stars and no coach to discipline them. Only Capello or Ferguson could successfully guide such a team.

But yet they only work well on the paper, whether they can gel quickly is remains to be seen. And just like El Fre said, if the coach can't control the players' ego, they're doomed.

The coach is indeed the key, but I think it is also important to examine the team as a whole to see if they have enough compatability to work together. On that team, only CRonaldo seem to be a guy who has a huge ego that can't be easily satisfied. Benzema is still relatively young and Kaka is a humble guy. So, I honestly don't see there being too many difficulties for the team to gel. It will, of course, take good coaching and time for them to fully unite as one, but it isn't really as impossible as a lot of people made it out to be.

No Barcelona are the team to beat. Real Merda could sign another 3-4 gallacticos and Barcelona would still be lightyears ahead of them. Don't forget how Real Madrid was embarresed by Liverpool in the CL last year, aswell as against Barcelona and that Amatuer side (LOL).
Barcelona is a team put together by a coach, someone who actually knows football, Real Madrid is put together by a man who knows nothing of football, and he proved that the last time around. And the Benzema signing is insane to say the least, they already have so many attackers, among those Higuain who was their best player last season, and who I'd rate much higher than Benzema.
I probably shouldn't even do this because there are a few here who might read this and shoot themselves in the head. :D

As a former player, I can tell you that the better team always beats the best individuals. Without fail.
Mourinho (who I respect very much as a coach, even if he is Inter's manager, he still is very wise) said that "there was no point in just grabbing the best players, you need a team, for every Kaka or CR7 you need a Gattuso, a Makelele, and so on"
Real is making a huge mistake because while Raul Abiol is good, Pepe is a hot-head, Marcelo is more of a left-winger than a left-back, but honestly, with the two Diarra's in front of that back four, that shouldn't be the issue.
I'll tell you what the major issue is: First, Captain Raul needs to play, he is the captain and leader of that team. He has scored quite a few goals the last two seasons (after 2-3 seasons of odd underperformance). Now that Benzema is there (who was not the type of striker that they needed, nor is Villa) what happens to Raul? Clearly a 4-2-3-1 is what has to be used, but even then, it's hard because both Kaka and CR7 drift to the right. Overloading the right and Benzema might be forced there, but I'd be surprised to see Robben in the line up.
The biggest issue though is if those players will actually click. They are all players who demand the ball, and you know what they say about too many cooks in the kitchen..
I'm surprised that Huntelaar isn't relied upon more, or RVN for that matter. But then again, if you look at CR7 and Kaka, you'll realize that neither are creative powerhouses, sure they make things for others when they can't shoot, but otherwise they are players who really surge forward for goals. If Del Piero is a "9.5" halfway between a 10 and a 9, then Kaka and CR7 are halfway between 9.5 and 7, if you know what I mean.
That is a problem, and Real will have trouble having focus.
You see the Galactico era with Zidane, Figo, etc worked because each Galactico actually had different roles. Figo was more of a distributor than a goal-scorer, as was Zidane, but both occupied different parts of the pitch, while Morientes and Raul are both no-nonsense consistent players. Plus, you had Makelele (though Lass Diarra is incredible).
So, I honestly am not saying this to make myself or ourselves feel better, but to honestly question this period of Galactico might. Benzema is not the sort of player to simply finish off moves, he is a far more dynamic striker. And even if he was a straight-up finisher, CR7 and Kaka are not exactly renown for their distributive skills either.

Seedorf was pretty damned good and he left. This has nothing to do with how good or bad Real Madrid's players are. This is about Fiorentino Perez wanting to put his own "gallactico" stamp on the team and show the world that he can bring in virtually any player he wants. Huntelaar and the rest of the Dutch players were acquisitions of the old regime and are, therefore, expendable.
Remember what Louis van Gaal said recently: "In the box, he is the best player in the world, bar none."
Some excerpts from an article that appeared in The Independent recently regarding Huntelaar:
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, aka "The Hunter", is shaping up to become one of the all-time great Netherlands forwards and has already been compared to Marco van Basten. He joined Real Madrid from Ajax for the thick end of £20m in January and during one recent game no lesser an authority than the veteran coach Louis van Gaal said: "In the box, he is the best player in the world, bar none."
So how good is Huntelaar? In statistical terms, extraordinary, averaging well above a goal every other game for his clubs and for his country (both at Under-21 and senior level) for more than six years.
He made only one senior appearance in the first season of his senior career – which was at PSV Eindhoven, under Guus Hiddink, in 2002-03. But he exploded into life on loan at second-tier AGOVV, and has continued in the same style since at Heerenveen, Ajax and now at Real.
All told, he has scored 143 league goals in 194 games, for a strike rate of 0.74 goals per game. At Real, where he has hit eight goals in 11 games, that rate is still 0.72. At international level, he scored 18 in 22 for the Under-21s and has netted 11 times in 19 games (0.58 per game) for the grown-up Oranje. That makes him the most prolific man in the current squad in terms of goals per game, way ahead of Van der Vaart (13 in 65), Van Persie (12 in 34) and Robben (10 in 37).
Only Faas Wilkes and Johan Cruyff in the post-war era have better Dutch international goals-per-game stats, with Huntelaar ahead of Patrick Kluivert, Dennis Bergkamp, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Van Basten in those terms, albeit at a relatively early stage of his career.
"We all thought it was an amazing thing for Louis van Gaal to praise Huntelaar like that," says Mike Verweij, a senior writer with De Telegraaf, the Netherlands' biggest-selling newspaper. "But Huntelaar is proving it correct."
In a Dutch squad historically notorious for internal strife and ego problems, Verweij says Huntelaar is "a genuine team player. He's a really nice guy, down to earth, quiet, nothing seems to faze him. We think of him as 'Mr Cool'. Away from football he likes nothing better than to go fishing, and enjoy some peace and quiet."

That's not necessarily true. Huntelaar might have to go just because of the sort of team that is being brought in thanks to Perez.
With Criscito, he impressed many this season at Genoa and during the U21's, and there is a good chance he doesn't want to go back to a team that didn't have faith in him before. I mean, we should know about that, Gourcuff played excellent this year, and didn't come back to Milan.
Criscito is an exciting talent, and I'd like for him to come to Milan, and Cissoko is good as well, but I am worried about the transition into Serie A for Cissoko. I have no doubts about Cissoko's ability to go forward, but defensively, I haven't seen enough of him to really decide whether I think he'll be able to take the more cynical Serie A.
If we need a big target-man, Mido is around 1million from Boro, who got relegated. Just saying.
As a former player, I can tell you that the better team always beats the best individuals.
I'm surprised that Huntelaar isn't relied upon more, or RVN for that matter. But then again, if you look at CR7 and Kaka, you'll realize that neither are creative powerhouses, sure they make things for others when they can't shoot, but otherwise they are players who really surge forward for goals. i dont agree with any of this..firsly your first sentence is not clear at all,a group of motivated wc individuals can win anyone in a good day..
i think that both kaka and cr7 can be creative powerhouses, and if they fit together i m sure about it..
how did you came up that both kaka and cr7 drift to the right?kaka's best matches were on an absolut free role and most of the times he tended to drift on the left, that was the problem with dinho on the same 11..and cr7 can play wc on the left too..i think that there will be no problem with that,at all..
benzema is a really strong player, with gr8 techinque that can quickly understand kaka's and cr7 game..just target powerful strickers, will be history after some years..the best fws these days are torres, etoo, ibra, villa and more..they totally reprsent football's needs nowadays..
i think real were never interested for a target fw,and i think they ll get rid of huntelaar or nistelroy(although he is another story),because no club nowadays play that fooball(with target man infont)if you see the best clubs around(barca, man unt, real now, liverpool etc..)
thats the reason i m not sure about dzeko either..

Kaka when he takes his runs, does slide into the left, but if you look at many of Kaka's goals, they tend to come from the right. Again, this is not absolute, and I think I may have exaggerated, but, honestly, I think CR7 and Kaka will have a tough time together.
Furthermore, to say that Kaka and CR7 are creative powerhouses, that is off-the-mark. Both of them have creative skills, but they are not as creative as say, Zidane and Figo, who would be the best example of two players similar in position and stature (at the time). Zidane and Figo were far more directed towards distribution than goal-scoring.
The era of the classic 9 is not dead, it's just changed. Naming Torres, Ibra, they are still more dynamic versions of "the number 9" but Etoo is a rather unique player. Benzema is similar to Etoo, but again, he is less agile, and while he has tremendous pace, he does not have the same levels of agility.
Dzeko, Huntelaar, Mario Gomez, these are how number 9's have evolved. However, the real future of the number 9 is Adriano. Now he has failed, because of his personality. But, a player of his size, speed, power, skill will be the future. That is why the USA has done so well, because their players are physically superior to any other players on earth, in terms of physical fitness.
In American football, you can have a wide receiver (generally 6'3" 220 pounds), which is about the same as Adriano, who can run faster than most football (soccer) players. That level of physical fitness is the future of football, let alone just the number 9.
Adriano is the first of this kind of player. Many top teams (Milan included) are now utilizing American athletic techniques to get their players bigger, faster, and stronger. Look at Ronaldinho from his days at PSG and then as he went through his prime at Barca. Take a look at CR7 as he grew at Man Utd.
The game is getting more physical, that is one of the major reasons why English teams are winning, because they are able to overcome technical draw-backs (with of course some incredible players, don't get me wrong).
Kaka when he takes his runs, does slide into the left, but if you look at many of Kaka's goals, they tend to come from the right. Again, this is not absolute, and I think I may have exaggerated, but, honestly, I think CR7 and Kaka will have a tough time together.

i m just saying that it's a bit strange to talk about kaka's and cr7's creativty,of course theyre not as creative as zizou was(i cant remember of anyone being that creative, maybe in football history!!)but they re a lot more complete than figo, both of them..
i am referring to the number 9,just to say that huntelaar or even dzeko wouldnt be my priority if i were in charge..i d prefer somone like the ones i mentoned above, but i wouldnt say no to a young motivated drogba for example..but as we both know huntelaar is nowhere near that..

I think Mido (who is my favorite player) was an idiot to go to England.
He is not fast enough for the EPL. If he gets service, he will score you goals, but he hasn't scored that many because the teams he's played for are all crap. Wigan, Boro were never going to give him service, and the goals he scored he usually made himself.
Watching a huge 9 on the left wing is stupid. I honestly think that if Mido came to Milan, and had the service of Ronaldinho or Beckham, he'd score 20+ goals easily.
But again, this will never happen. I just hope Mido goes to Spain where his best attributes can be shown, I don't know why he likes England so much.

Seriously, how depressing is this? While Real are buying Benzema, and Barcelona chasing Villa, Juve with Diego etc. we are allegedly after Peter Crouch. Does it get any more depressing?
We should just get Huntelaar: feeding on the scraps of Madrid is infinitely better than the lean, mean Peter Crouch.
God help me.
I'd say don't go for Huntelaar or any Real player unless they offer for free or at least very very low price. It's not likely after all since Milan doesn't ask anyone in the trade of Kaka.
I just dream that all big clubs have a silent consensus that nobody buy Real players with big price. Milan, MU, Lyon all took cash, Villa and Xavi Alonso would have joined if Valencia and Liverpool wants trade. Let's see what
Real has a big enough locker room, shouldn't we?
If I'm a dutch in Real, what would I think? Big wage, possible champion titles, not too much work...the perfect job in the world! I wouldn't ask to leave until I can go for free so that I can have big wage somewhere else, too.

Don't even get me started on that. Honestly. Mido is not suited for the Prem, that is quite certain, he has wasted four years of his life in the Prem, but I don't even want to get into that. I was kidding about Mido, and please don't talk about Egyptians struggling in European leagues, because last time I checked, there aren't many English players playing in Europe, let alone England.

Crouch isn't fit to shine even Daniel & Christian Maldini's boots, and neither is Kalac who at one point couldn't even get a game in the first division in England for Leicester City (who were then relegated further).
Crouch seriously wtf! Can I play for Milan instead? Fine, we don't bid for all the best players in the world any more and would rather 'invest' wisely in players who can give us a long time service. It's also funny that it is pretty much what most forum members have been asking for about 5 years now.
I would rather buy snap up every decent young player we can... Zapata, Cristico, Kjaer, Santacroce, Cigarini, Gargano, D’Agostino etc and just keep faith in youth than let any more disgraceful players put on a Milan shirt. If they don't make it they'll still have some market value to mid table serie a teams so it's not a total loss, for those who make it means good value for us!

I think the 4 mill salary cap is inaccurate. Ronaldinho is on 6.5 a year, for example.
I don't know if that only concerns incoming players. If that number is indeed true, then Milan will not comepete AT ALL in Europe or even in Italy.
It is all but over if that is true.
I knew I was going to get some good laughs over this Peter Crouch thing. :D
By the way, I read that Crouch was looking for a £70,000 a week deal. Wouldn't that come out to more than 4 million a year converted to euros? :D

I think with Vidic admitting that he turned down Milan, I think that Milan is after far more ambitious targets than Peter Crouch. Dzeko and Cissoko are highly rated, but unknown to the worlds of FIFA, Winning Eleven, and Championship Manager, so obviously not coveted. They are rather typical Milan signings, and if we could get them I'd be very happy.
I'm debating, seriously, about whether I'd rather have Adebayor or Crouch. That is how bad Adebayor is in my mind.

Reading about Matteo Brighi, and his recent issues with Roma's management, would anyone want him here? Considering Flamini's presence, I'm not sure if Brighi would be needed, but he has had a good season with Roma. I would rather have Cigarini, but Brighi would not heard the squad depth.

I wouldn't even hesitate to choose Adebayor. He's not the best finisher, but he creates a lot of chances with his strength and athleticism. Plus he's more pleasant to watch than the awkward big-birdesque Crouch. Adebayor is coming off a rough, injury-plagued season for Arsenal, but he still scored in just 21 starts almost as many goals (10) as Crouch has ever scored in a full season in the Premier League (12, when he was with Southampton). In fact, Adebayor has scored 46 goals in 104 games for Arsenal. That's a pretty good record. And two seasons ago he was terrific, scoring 24 Premier League goals in 32 games. Crouch could never match that in his wildest dreams.

I know. I don't think my sarcasm translates very well into text.
I just, really do not rate Adebayor at all. I understand that many times, he can be a great player, but I don't think he's got the same potential as Dzeko or Huntelaar. Not because of ability, but because of attitude. It is his attitude that I really question.

Haha. Okay. I would much rather have Huntelaar as well (and with Madrid's deal for Benzema it looks as though he's a real possibility if Milan wants him). I really wouldn't mind Adebayor though because he does have the potential to be great. I'm pretty sure that Milan will offer better wages to those who are more marquee type players. Flamini makes 5.6million Euros for instance, and Ronaldinho is at 6.5;
I'm not sure if Galliani would actually put in a real salary cap, I'm sure he knows that will lead Milan to follow Arsenal's demise. Or, maybe the only problem with Arsenal is that Wenger seems unable to purchase a player who is not under 15 years of age? I think that might be a bigger issue that his salary cap at Arsenal.
dont worry about crouch, it will not happen. Milan or should i say Galliani doesnot have the negotiation power to even get a tier 3 type player like Crouch. next you will hear
milan turns attention to Simone Inzaghi in which they plan to use Older Brother SupperPippo as bait to lure the the Lazio owned striker who spent the last season at Atalanta. Pippo Inzaghi is well loved at Milan due to his goal scoring ability, but he is getting a bit old, and simply cannot play a full season any more, and who better to be his successor than his younger brother, who is only 33 years old, which would make him the third youngest player on the roster behind Flamini, Pato and Pirlo. And Milan President Galliani has stated that he is looking to provide fresh young legs, to help replace now Madrid star KAKA.
Milan attention has switch to Simone after a failed attempt at Dzeko, Adebayor, Huntelaar, and even crouch. "Simone is a champion, he is a winner, and he is perfect for our system, i see him as the next golden boot winner for Serie A" - Galliani

If I was Leo I would make Pato a AM. He has the skill and pace, kind of like Kaka was for as. Attacking Mid and striker. I would transfer Pato to that position. Then we would have to buy strikers, like Rossi but IF you have Rossi, XXXX, and Pato thats a attack to die for :)
Ofcourse you need mid like Gattuso and Flamini behind them :)

i would find a way to buy hunt, and sell Dinho to someplace like Man City that will overpay for him. we can use some of that money to but Rossi, and Turin's president said Rossina is avilable for 5 mil, we should take that. those three, with Pato would tear Europe apart for years

A very interesting article on Milan's future: here (http://bleacherreport.com/articles/208006-the-current-state-of-ac-milan-a-look-into-the-future/show_full)
Thanx for the article, I posted it on another forum.... Here are my thoughts on it.....
The article is its a little too elementary and not enough analysis on the points... but the point that end kaka isnt end of world is true. I think milans biggest problem last years has been we have too many fantasistas. whether they like to play behind striker (kaka) deep (pirlo) out left (ronnie) talking to coach on sideline while he should be playing (seedorf) we have far too many guys who want ball and not enough who work for each other.... Clearly Galliani wanted to play 'beautiful football' with kaparo uptop.... pirlo, seedorf in midfield. Lots of great 'passers' but it failed cause you only play with one ball.
Ronaldinho is still an absolute world class player in skill, motivation is more his issue. If a brazilian former AM like Leo cannot get best out of him, then i have no idea who can, but i'll hold judgement. If we add a proper CF though and FB who run.... even though the team may lack names, it'll function more like a proper team. Milan last year suffered the problem of galactico real madrid w/ figo, zidane, raul,, beckham whether its too many playmakers not enough workers. As weird as it is to say if kaka is replaced with two fast, physical workman like players (FB and CF) we will be better team. Look at inter... though they lack creativity, they do know there roles... maicon and ibra create... everyone else runs.
Still in an ideal world, we would have NEVER doubt ronaldinho last summer.... instead that money would have gone to get a CF and a FB. But its done, what can we say.

I think leo is going to use some sort of barca meets roma type tactic. We'll play an attacking trident with ronaldinho on left, pato on right. Pato could excel in this role like messi and robinho have. he isnt quite the dribbler they are but he is easily as good as Henry who proved to be just as effective too.
Pirlo (if he's still here) will be pushed up more to a cm as our main playmaker w/ 2 DM's behind him. Or.... we could do like barca do w/ xavi and iniesta with pirlo and another playmaker and just 1 natural DM. If we did that other playmaker would need to be a REAL worker like iniesta, cause pirlo doesnt run much without the ball or dribble (similar to xavi)
CF
Ronaldinho----pato
pirlo
ambrosini---gattuso
or....
CF
Ronaldinho----Pato
Pirlo--Sneijder
Gattuso
Eitherway both will be FAR more successful than inters 4-3-3 for 3 reasons. 1) ronaldinho nad pato are infinitely better than quaresma/mancini. 2) Neither Ronnie or Pato will stay as wide as Mourinho wanted his wingers (ours would be wide forwards not wingers) 3) We will have a true midfield playmaker.... inter had muntari, cambiasso, zanetti... all hard workers hardly creative... it'd be like if we started flamini, ambrosini, gattuso
Both these will require quality fb's to provide width.... to be honest any tactic we adopt will unless we go 4-4-2 which we do not have the personnel for at all

True but in past seasons even with our first team playing we've dropped many points. Often because we lack strength to force our will.
As it stands we have seedorf to back up pirlo and apparently di gennaro is going to be converted to that position, flamini for DM, boriello, pippo for CF..... we have no ronaldinho or pato backups though

Sorry, I meant 4 finals in 5 years and 5 in 7 years

What I said was TEAM TO HATE/BEAT. Barcelona to me is a team that people admire while also want to beat.
To me at least, thats very very different. For example, I don't want to see Barcelona lose at all, b/c they play beautiful football and not counter attack/camping out inside their box. While I do want Real to be beaten b/c they just jave too much.
What? Eh? Who? Crouch? Who is crouching? "Crouching Tiger, hiddenzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....

Many stuff to comment.
Vidic:
If Milan did offer to buy Vidic, to me it shows two thing, NESTA can no longer perform at the highest level or T. Silva is not as good as we all think he is.
Or else, why would Milan want to get a WC defender like Vidic while already plan to start Nesta and T.Silva as the CB pairings.
Crouch.
R U kidding me, and it just shows how crap people think Milan is, as instead of being link with Benzema, Tevez, Eto, and others, Milan is being link with Crouch. The sad part is that deep down inside, all of us fans are hoping that is not true instead of knowing it is not true.
Team Play Vs Individual brilliance.
Samaldinho, I love reading your posts but to say that Real will not be playing like a team next season and will not succeed is a big mistake. Team play no doubt will be important but individual brilliance will be key to turning a defeat into victory. CR7, Kaka and Benzema might not be the Maradona, ZZ or R99(in his prime) but they are capable of carrying the team on their shoulder as long as the team won't concede goals, and with Real defense and DMs next year(no serious injuries ofcourse), they are as strong as anyonre.
Yes, the US team done great at Confederations Cup, but thats hardly WC or Euro. As the mentality of players are different, not saying the countries that went do not want to win but the players know that winning the CC is a huge different than winning the WC or Euro, thus, they probably won't be trying as much as they would. Thats at least is my opinion. On top of that the US team was on form at the right time while the other teams ain't, esp Italy, to me IT players lacked motivations, kind of like watching how MIlan players played last two seasons.
What I like about Perez/Real is the fact that he is making all his incoming transfer asap, maybe that will help them gain more revenues or charge more in Friendlies, but it will also help the Coach, the team and the players to know who is who and train together for the upcoming season. Thats more than I can say about Milan.
Benzema=35mil.
Why the heck did Milan not offer that to Lyon instead of going to pay eventually 30Mil for Dzeko.
Before anyone starts shooting me, i've been a milan fan since late 80s and been in this forum since 2000...

If we are wanting a tall striker why not look at Benfica' Oscar Cardozo? this is all hypothetical speak but also what happened to Leo' wing play? or did Berlu say that wasnt a good idea? we should have been after Barnetta or Schweinsteiger for the wingers and tried Pato on the Other wing with Dinho in Kaka AM position just behind the striker be that Borri or Pippo.
Personally, I feel that some of us have forgotten of Boriello. Not to say that we don't need a CF, but isn't a full back more of a priority?
We know MGT. is going to limit spending this time, so why not go for our REAL priority now? Unless, we already have someone lined up for our central defense.....
What would be the motive for us getting Crouch? Personally, I get uncomfortable when discussing possible transfers of EPL players to Milan. I know they have whooped Italian teams recently in the Champions League, but would they really suit our own league?
Crouch fits the attributes we are looking for, but the quality? If he has scored only 19 goals in the EPL (maximum games in first-team), then what would that equate to in Serie A. Much lower i guess....

Well its on Channel 4 footballitalia.com now that Milan are preparing a £13 million bid for Fabiano even though Seville want £25 million it says Milan think thats unrealistic in the economic climate , and also that Milan even though making a bid will have to turn their attention elsewhere.
Im done b1tching but Galli dont apprach a club and bid for a player if the most you can offer is half of his value , your making the club look stupid the fans look stupid and tarnishing the clubs reputation.
Now Im not going to say who MGT should buy but it looks to me like there going after people making real bids but knowing that they will be turned down.
And then hoping the fans will be happy thinking that they are trying will not spending a BEAN.

Exactly Jay, then Galli will come out and say that Milan tried to get X and Y, but they are just too expensive. Which in reality, they just ain't trying hard enough.
If Cissohko is 15MIl, there is no way Fabiano is 13Mil. I know someone will come out and say that Fabiano is 29 and Cissohko is 21, and that it is just a plan for Galli to get players cheaper.....but to me thats really insulting to Seville.

The market for Real Madrid is amazed all over the world.
But there are those who not only disagrees with these charges "crazy", but intends to do something to prevent things like that can riaccadere in the future.
We are talking about the UEFA President Michel Platini, who in an interview with l'Equipe expressed more concerns about a market of Florentino Perez.
"On a personal level I do not understand how you can spend 90 million euros to buy a player, it's one thing that embarrasses me just at the thought. In fact it is the entire market of Real Madrid makes me think (have already spent 216 million euro), but if you have the guarantee of banks ...".
Despite this, Platini is to move to avoid "spill": "We will do something and we're working on it. But we can not find solutions in the short term, it will take two or three years. In any case one thing is sure, I want to establish of the rules. "

It is true, it's not gonna happen, but honostly if it wasn't for Franco FC's big spending the price of 13 Million pounds would be pretty accurate considering that Fabiano is coming of a pretty poor season with Sevilla.

Ancelotti desperate for Pato
Thursday 2 July, 2009
Carlo Ancelotti is so desperate to lure Milan striker Alexandre Pato he has delayed his arrival at Chelsea, according to The Sun.
Ancelotti signed Pato for Milan in 2007 and became very close to him during their two years together.
In June, Pato said that before committing his future to the Rossoneri he would give his mentor a call to ask for advice.
The Sun understands Milan will meet Chelsea in the next 24 hours to broker a deal.
The report runs contrary to statements made by Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani, who has reiterated the club's desire to keep Pato on several occasions this summer.
Galliani recently revealed the Rossoneri had turned down 'a monster offer' for the 19-year-old Brazil international.
The Sun claims Chelsea were behind that bid, offering £31m for Pato.
Later on in the report, Milan sources are cited as saying the club will settle for a deal worth £40m.
Pato is widely regarded as the best teenager in world football.
He scored 18 goals in 42 appearances for Milan in his first full season at the club.
I thought of that too. However, I don't think Benzema would want to play for Milan. Regardless of what Berlusconi says, we and Serie A are not attractive places for the top players.

Benzema=35mil.
Why the heck did Milan not offer that to Lyon instead of going to pay eventually 30Mil for Dzeko.
I personally think Benzema is much much better player than Dzeko. If Benzema got 35m (I don't know where the number comes from but I read 30M on some site), Dzeko should get about 20m only. People may accuse me of not watching Dzeko enough (which is true, I have only watched 1-2 matches of him, not including youtube:D). But I have watch enough Benzema to say he have terrific skill. If I had to choose between Benzema and Torres now I would always choose Benzema (I think Torres is not worse than Benzema, but personally I would pick Benzema:D). Benzema has also played on big stage, Dzeko have only played in Bundesliga. Dzeko has this phenomenol year, but Benzema plays well in recent seasons and what makes we like Dzeko most maybe his 23 years old, Benzema is 1 year younger than Dzeko.
Real are offering crazy offer for players, but to Benzema, I think it's not really a overpaid one. (if it's 30M like some reports). I would be upset to see Dzeko arrive at >20M but I would be very happy to see benzema arrive at 30M.
PS: when talking about football, I use pound:D
What would be the motive for us getting Crouch?
I don't think you have to worry about that happening. Just paper crap. Or maybe it's something that was floated by Galliani to lower expectations so that whoever Milan does bring in looks extra good. ;)

Alexandre Pato: Manchester United Turn to £35M Brazilian Teen Sensation as Benzema Nears Madrid
Reports in Italy suggest Manchester United have entered the chase for AC Milan’s teenage star Alexandre Pato after being outbid by Real Madrid for number one target Karim Benzema. Chelsea have been attempting to bring the young Brazilian to Stamford Bridge all summer but Sir Alex has now expressed a strong interest.
It’s of no surprise that two of the wealthiest clubs in the world are chasing the 19-year-old as he enjoyed a fantastic season and his age marks him down as a terrific prospect. Last season Pato scored 15 league goals in 36 league games for Milan (27 starts) which was the 5th best record in Serie A and only one goal behind Real Madrid new boy Kaka.

I don't think the top players in the world want to come to Serie A or Milan. Players like Ribery, Ronaldo, Benzema etc. see Spain or maybe England as their number one destination.
I think a club like Milan is a selling club now, and players can sense that. In my opinion, Pato could leave within 3 years. Also, violence, racism, mediocre contracts, lack of marketing etc. play their part.
We have to get used to this.
Nothing new, but an interesting opinion piece....
Calcio Debate: Which Striker Should AC Milan Buy?
Italian giants AC Milan are hunting for a top class striker in order to reinforce their squad for next season. Goal.com's Subhankar Mondal draws up a list of possible signings…..
2 Jul 2009 11:45:03
AC Milan have already lost their most prized asset Kaka to Real Madrid and have also let the man who could have replaced him -Yoann Gourcuff- return to France. Their star striker and most consistent player last season, Alexandre Pato, was reportedly set to reunite with Carlo Ancelotti at Chelsea but now those fears have been allayed and Milan are in the market to sign a world class striker who could partner the 19-year-old Brazilian international.
Pato would be the main hitman for next season but who would play alongside him? Below we look at some of the forwards available in the transfer market for Milan to sign.
1.Edin Dzeko (VfL Wolfsburg): Milan's prospective first choice striker this summer, Edin Dzeko, has just come off a sensational season in which he scored 26 goals and gave six assists to lead Wolfsburg to the league championship. Dzeko is a fantastic player with marvellous accuracy and can score from virtually anywhere. At one point Milan did manage to convince Dzeko but Wolfsburg have sternly refused to listen to any offer for the 23-year-old, who with his clinical finishing and superb positioning would be a great asset for the Rossoneri.
2.Emmanuel Adebayor (Arsenal): Adebayor had a brilliant season for Arsenal in 2007-2008 but was a major disappointment last term. Adebayor can be a good targetman and as he showed against Villarreal in the Champions League he is capable of scoring the odd sensational goal; but he is 25 and is yet to completely convince. Adebayor is malignantly inconsistent but he can give Milan an aerial advantage.
3.Luis Fabiano (Sevilla): Maybe not a world-class striker but Luis Fabiano's ability to find goals on a regular basis for Sevilla and for Brazil make him a very capable player. The 28-year-old has been excellent for Sevilla over the years and a move to Milan in a World Cup year could just propel his game to a higher level. Fabiano is a team player and would combine well with compatriots Pato and Ronaldinho.
4.Samuel Eto'o (Barcelona): It's Inter and not Milan who have been linked with Samuel Eto'o but Adriano Galliani and co might well try and give it a shot. The Cameroonian is apparently on his way out of Camp Nou and although Manchester City have the monetary power to lure the Barcelona striker to England, Milan's Champions League carrot could be used to attract the second best striker in Europe to Serie A.
5.Ezequiel Lavezzi (Napoli): If Aurelio De Laurentiis is to be believed, then Ezequiel Lavezzi is a bad character who takes the night life rather too boisterously. But if the Serie A matches in which the 24-year-old has featured so far are to be believed, then he is a superb talent who needs to move to a bigger club to take his game to a higher level. Well built and gifted with pace, the former San Lorenzo striker has been a revelation for Napoli over the past two seasons and has hinted that he would like to leave this summer.
6.Antonio Cassano (Sampdoria): Signing Antonio Cassano would solve all of Milan's problems upfront as the mercurial 26-year-old not only scores goals but creates them too. Last season he was one of the best Italian players in Serie A, had the second highest number of assists to his name and was the most fouled player. 'Peter Pan' is only now starting to fulfil his ferocious talent but his unpredictable nature and difficult character would not be very conducive for the Milan dressing room. Although Cassano is brilliant with the ball, at times off the ball he can and does get cold feet.
7.David Trezeguet (Juventus): Milan had been linked with Juventus striker David Trezeguet earlier and although the Frenchman's agent has dismissed a summer departure, there could still be a chance that the 31-year-old moves out of Turin. Trezegol would be a perfect targetman for Milan and although he was not in his best form last season, Trezeguet’s Serie A experience would be a good addition to Leonardo’s side.
8.David Villa (Valencia): David Villa is arguably the best striker in Europe and is every club's dream signing. But the problem is that the Spanish international has already made it clear that he wants to play on in the Spanish Primera Division. Moreover, Milan would not be able to cough up the required amount that Valencia want for the 27-year-old. Villa would be a great addition to the Milan side and would guarantee the goals Milan require to win the Serie A next season.
9.Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (Real Madrid): Real Madrid’s January recruit Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is on his way out of the Bernabeu. The 25-year-old has been a prolific goalscorer in the Dutch league and 8 goals in 13 league starts for Madrid are reasonably good. The 'Hunter' has the Ruud van Nistelrooy-esque clinical finishing ability and with Ronaldinho feeding him with the ball, the Dutchman would be certain of getting enough chances.
10. Peter Crouch (Portsmouth): We had to include the Robot King, following the shock reports last night that Milan were lineing up a move for the 28-year-old. While the speculation is only speculation at the moment, Crouch is surely not a viable option. Is he?
Writer's Choice:
Samuel Eto'o (Barcelona): Samuel Eto'o can be a very difficult person to deal with, but the 28-year-old is also a very difficult striker to play against, refusing to score fewer than 30 goals every season. Eto'o has been one of the most consistent strikers in Spain over the past four or five years and with his athleticism, work ethic and clinical finishing would be the perfect striker for Milan. Eto'o guarantees goals galore at the San Siro and although he might not share a very healthy relationship with Ronaldinho off the pitch, on the pitch the duo combine perfectly.

I just read Cassano has turned up a week early for preseason training :sweeteye: . I'm not Cassano's biggest fan due to his behaviour and for that reason I've always dismissed him as a signing. However, he's really driven to make the Italian national squad and it shows. This drive has resulted in him not only curbing his attitude (I haven't really heard much about him since the early days at Samp), but also he's really making the extra step to try and impress Lippi. Quite honestly, this drive he's got these days (and it should maintain for Euro 2012 and WC 2014) could well make him a viable option. A determined Cassano that's almost professional is surely a player to have.
If this piece of news is true, i'll be damn pissed.

35m for Benzema is really overpaying, he's not worth anywhere near that at this point. Dzeko isn't worth 30m and I'm pretty sure we won't pay that sum should he come (the most I can see us paying is 25m and that's a steep price).

I know Platini talks like this a lot, and they really must do something as Real Madrid's mercato is just ridiculous (never mind the inflation by English clubs in recent years).
I don't think it's that the top players no longer want to come to Serie A. Milan, in particular, is still the greatest club of the past couple of decades and many great players grew up dreaming of playing for Milan. The problem is that Serie A clubs can no longer afford the top players. As I said in another post, Serie A has found itself in a similar place as the English league was in 20 years ago (when Serie A was arguably the best league in the world). The teams are playing in crumbling stadiums in front of dwindling crowds. Violence, as you pointed out, has become a problem, as it was in England in the 80s. Revenue streams are down.
The tax system is hurting Serie A as well. No matter now much a player might want to play for Milan, if a Spanish club can afford to pay him what will amount to 25% more in his pocket, the player is going to choose to play in Spain. After all, it's a business. Maybe Italy should think about enacting a "Beckham Law" like the one in Spain (do you hear that Mr. Prime Minister?). Oddly enough, this is actually becoming a problem for England as well. It seems new tax laws are making it a bit tougher for them to compete with Spain.
It's a tough time for Serie A and Milan is no exception, but things can be turned around, just as they were in England. There needs to be serious investment -- league-wide -- in new or upgraded facilities; better efforts to curb fan violence; better terms for television contracts and more revenue streams, etc. The bad economy make it especially difficult and it will take time to turn things around, but it can be done.
As for being a "selling club," well, the truth is that all clubs are selling clubs and always have been. Milan sold great players in the 90s. Manchester United just sold Ronaldo and let Tevez go. Players have been bought and sold all along. That's something that won't change.

The other thing is (I was reading this somewhere reliable) the tax rate in England is going to be 50% next year. So, it shows that if Serie A had marketed itself better in this last decade, it could have offset some of these financial problems.
The problems that I mentioned are important to highlight, but even more significantly, Italian football is full of corruption. There is no sense of pulling in the same direction. In England, once a problem surfaces, the league is in lockstep as to the measures. Fans there are actually punished for chanting obscene noises. In Italy, they are given a slight reprimand, and invariably turn up the following week. The TV rights deal was a long time coming, but the problem is Serie A clubs will not get ownership of their stadia in the near future (I have discussed this before). The only hope was steady investment a la Moratti, but Berlusconi now wants to stop that as well.
Leagues have jostled for eminence in the past. However, TV rights and a global market means that every year Serie A falls immeasurably behind. The Bundesliga with its solid financial structure and modern stadia is threatening to overtake Italy in the next 2-3 years. Things are seriously wrong. Certainly, Serie A is operating within a grim context. The unemployment rate in Italy is soaring, and the youth are increasingly disenfranchised. The economy is struggling to cope.
There are some positives but it is for clubs like Chievo, Atalanta etc. who will now suddenly see a lot more money from TV rights. Good for them. But for the top 3 clubs, I expect a long and fruitless decade. I could be wrong, and God willing I am.
Platini is a jokerman who does what rich people tell him to do and then he talks nice things about humaniti afterwards. Platini is a clown of UEFA.
And this Pato rumors are simply too much, can we sell Pato? Really, where is the limit? "the club is not for sale", but everything in it is?
Pirlo will soon be sold, which will make Milan earn more then 100mln from sales of players. Its impossible to bare it anymore.
Benzema should have been our player, Galliani doesnt do anything, he just comes and buys 5th player on the list who noone wanted as he didnt work on other players.
"Hello, can we buy this player?"
"no, we already have a deal with Chelsea, Madris few months ago..."
"ok..."
news:" milan goes for young players, bla,bla..."

We have to get used to this.
We need to stop this, not get used to it. Milan is not Milan if we become a club like Arsenal... selling club as you say.
MAybe top players dont want to come, but players like Kaka', Pato, Gourcuff, aremall ready to play for Milan. But Milan doesnt want that, Milan wants pure money for something which I dont know what is. They call it "books".

Cassano, Pato, and Dinho upfront...I would be extremely happy for this. Cassano is turning 27 and I think is finally seeing that his antics need to stop. I still remember seeing him cry when Italy crashed out of Euro 2004. He wants to play for his country.
With him showing up early for training, it shows he is ready to go. I'm not really sure why he is being written off so quickly.

Cassano really seemed to settle down and take life more seriously after he found his water polo playing teenage girlfriend. I guess it must be true love!
35m for Benzema is really overpaying, he's not worth anywhere near that at this point. Dzeko isn't worth 30m and I'm pretty sure we won't pay that sum should he come (the most I can see us paying is 25m and that's a steep price).
I agree. It's a ridiculous price. Everybody complains about Milan being linked with Adebayor and says he's rubbish, but Adebayor actually has a better goalscoring rate in EPL than Benzema has in the inferior French league (not that either has a bad scoring rate, mind you). Benzema is very inconsistent. Sometimes he's brilliant. Sometimes he goes through stretches where he's crap. Not the sort of player you pay 35 million pounds (or even euros) for.

Dev, I really don't think 30 or 35mil for Benzema is overpaying him. Considering Dzeko will come at 25-30mil.
I mean if Benzema is a Milan player for that amount, you will probably saying, take that RM, as Milan just got a bargain while you have to pay twice as much to get a player.

Compared to paying 35 million pounds for Benzema, Kaka was a huge bargain at 59 million. Why would you pay so much for such an inconsistent player? They probably could have had Adebayor (who is just as good and equally inconsistent) for half the price.
Becouse that inconsistent player in a young and brilliant striker who will be one of the top forwards in Europe in years to come. With Aguero and Pato he is the best young CF in Europe. Who is better then him under the age of 23?
Time will show what Benzema can do, if Im wrong I will say I know **** about young forwards.

But that's my point, I don't think Dzeko will cost more than 25m, and that's a very high price for him, at the most I'd value him at around 20m. Benzema has amazing potential, but at this point paying 35m for a player with potential but is yet to realise it is quite insane. Benzema is a bigger name than Dzeko, but certainly he's not worth 35m, at the most he shouldn't be valued more than around 25m. Essentially, a little more than Dzeko and around Pato's sort of price, though at the time of purchase we overpaid for Pato (given his status at the time), even if now it's become a good investment.

35 Million for Benzema is overpriced. He's just come off a terrible season lest you forget, he's still young, but who's to say that he isn't already playing at full potential? Also to anyone saying that Benzema is better than Torres, I'll just have to add that that's absolutly rediculess.
Anyway, I'd take Higuain over Benzema any day, he's so much more talented, he was definetly Real Madrids best player last season. It looks like they'll play 4-4-2 so it seems that there'll be room for both (while they take a big dump on their icon Raul), because frankly Perez would be out of his mind to replace Higuain with Benzema.
Becouse that inconsistent player in a young and brilliant striker who will be one of the top forwards in Europe in years to come.
Maybe. But he certainly needs to be more consistent and he hasn't proven himself at the La Liga level. He has the ability to be a great striker for years to come, but so does Adebayor, who isn't that much older.
With Aguero and Pato he is the best young CF in Europe. Who is better then him under the age of 23?
Had you asked that question a few months ago, I could have said Dzeko. Would you have wanted Milan to pay 35 million pounds for Dzeko? He's a far more consistent player and has a much better scoring rate in a better league.
Not that many strikers under the age of 23 get a chance to play regularly, but don't be surprised if there aren't some guys out there who you might rate more highly than Benzema a few years down the road. Bojan Krkic is a good example.
I'm not saying Benzema is crap. I'm just saying that 35 million pounds is too much money to pay for potential. If I'm going to shell out those kind of bucks, I want somebody I can count on to be consistently brilliant. I don't want a guy who disappears for four or five games at a time. Give me Benzema for 20 and I might consider taking him. But not 35.
Rick no offense, but Pato isn't really consistent either and Milan paid about 18mil for him.
Name another striker that you think deserve the 35mil price tag.
Exactly. Milan paid 18 for him. Not 35. (And by the way, it was 18 million euros Milan paid for Pato, not pounds. So it was about 15.5 million pounds.)
I might pay 35 for Villa or Torres. Maybe a couple of others. Not Benzema.

I think it depends:D. I am really frustrated by our club's transfer in recent seasons too, but it's not that we have no way to compete. I know that it's unlikely to happen but if we can get players from Serie A team like Santacroce, Zapata, Cigarini, Hamsik, Kuzmanovic, I think we can still compete with teams from other country. Yes, it is unlikely to happen but I just want to point out a way that we may still compete without players from other country
Anyway, I'd take Higuain over Benzema any day, he's so much more talented, he was definetly Real Madrids best player last season. Until a year ago Benzema had shown so much more than Higuain, but last season Higuain was certainly a level above "Benzinho". So it really depends on how you look at it, who's the better player - we'll see in time. Though I agree, it wouldn't make sense to start with Higuain on the bench, but this is Madrid, remember .
And another thing, I know Pellegrini loves the 4-4-2, but he cannot play like that in Madrid, as Kaka won't fit in. Unless he plays him as a supporting striker, in which case it'll look more like a 4-2-3-1. Otherwise Kaka would have to play as a central midfielder or a winger, and obviously he cannot play either, or at least it's such a waste.
They have to go with the 4-2-3-1 formation with Robben/Ribery - Kaka - Ronaldo playing behind Higuain/Benzema/Raul/Huntelaar/RVN (well they're a wee bit overloaded in the CF position, then, maybe Higuain and Raul will alternate playing further back or out wide?). However this formation would depend on them getting someone like Xabi Alonso, to play as one of the central 2, as there's just no way in hell Madrid are going to play with both Diarras, it's "beneath" them...
Damn, with all these Luca Toni/Peter Crouch rumours it's becoming more interesting to follow Madrid than Milan :moan: :p146: :broken:

Well, no point discussing Benzema anymore as he is 70% Real player.
Just ashame that Milan did not even try to sign him.
Christian, Dzeko has ONE good year, Benzema had much more. And he had lousy half-season, not whole year. His first half of the season was brilliant.
We'll see about Benzema, in 6 months some people will have to admit they cant see anything but present time. Or I'll be wrong, its possible as well.

benzema had ONE good ear (07-08) and has been ver dissapointing in 08-09. IMO he is overrated. He lacks real pace like pato on ball and off though he has a quick first couple movements, he's strong but not a physical presense like dzeko or drogba or adebayor. He is technical sound but by no means aguero, messi etc. Shortly put i think he's good at everything but great or world class at nothing.
France is different from a real league. I'm sure he'll score in spain cause its a league guys like dani guiza score 30 goals....but to me he really is a poor man's anelka albiet with a much better attitude. His mentality might be his best point

Can anyone answer these Questions?...........
Is Milan a dominant force in the Asian Market??
What are we doing to generate money other than TV earnings?
How much do we earn from TV earnings?
Who is responsible for the sale of Milan shirts? Adidas or Milan?
How much do we earn from our shirt sponsors Bwin?
How many sold out games we had last season at the San Siro?
are we operating at a loss?
how much revenue did we earn over the past two years?

The thing I don't understand is that, I am sure if Milan signed Benzema or going after him while Real signed Dzeko. Most of the comments being made here will be the same except for toward which player.
Just b/c Dzeko had one season does not make him better than Benzema, who had been pretty solid for the past few years.
On top of that, nobody can have Pato's speed or technique like Messi or Augero or even physical presense like Droba and Ade all at the same time.
Guys, lets stop about this Benzema stuff, as he will not be a MIlan player b/c the CLUB just don't want to pay anyone who is quality.
Also, to those who thinks Real overpayed for Benzema, thats the same thing fans around the world said about Milan when they did signed CIssohko, while most of you said it was the signing of the century, or close to that.

I would say he had better finishing than any of the players above. I don't think he is technically better than Messi but I also think Aguero is not better than Benzema technically.
And in the way you say I would say that Dzeko, Drogba, Adebayor is not as technically good as Benzema (not sure about Dzeko though). Aguero is not as big as Benzema:D

Haha. If I had Silvio's money, I wouldn't hesitate! :D
From today's news:
-We are still talking to Porto for Cissohko, Milan really want him.
-Apparently Manchester United, Wolfsburg and Galatasaray are in front us us for Huntelaar.
-Manchester United are interested in Pato.
-More confirmations that Milan is not for sale.
-There are reports that we are close to an agreement with Chelsea to sell Pirlo for 22-23mil.
-Milan made a 13mil euro bid for Fabiano.
And thats it really. Pretty bummed out. I'd like to see us selling dead weight, and seeing news like "Galliani in Madrid for Huntelaar", "OFFICIAL: Cissohko is a Milan player" (Well, mind you we already saw that haha, but it didn't happen) or "Milan closing in on Santacroce".
But theres nothing at all.
Give me Huntelaar, Hernanes, Cissohko, a good CB and I'm happy. I'm not asking for Messi, or Ronaldo.
The thing I don't understand is that, I am sure if Milan signed Benzema or going after him while Real signed Dzeko. Most of the comments being made here will be the same except for toward which player.
I can't speak for everyone, but that's not the case for me. I think 30 million euros would be too much to pay for Dzeko, but it would be a far better deal than paying 35 million pounds (which is equal to about 41 million euros) for Benzema. As I said, I might be willing to pay 20 million euros (still a lot of money) for Benzema based on potential. I'd pay a little bit more for Dzeko based on his superior goal-scoring record in a better league.
Think about this logically. Barcelona are said to have offered Valencia 37 million pounds for David Villa. That's two million pounds more than Real apparently has paid for Benzema. Do you really think those two players are in the same class?
-Apparently Manchester United, Wolfsburg and Galatasaray are in front us us for Huntelaar.
I saw this a bit earlier. Why would Wolfsburg want Huntelaar unless they were to turn around and sell Dzeko?
It's hard for me to imagine this is true. Manchester United would be hard to beat out for any player if they're interested, but I'm not seeing either Wolfsburg or Galatasaray.

Yeah, I was thinking about that. It's probably just a gentleman's agreement though and if United were to offer a boatload of money Milan might still be expected to match it. I'm not sure United would be in need of Huntelaar anyway. They have Berbatov and apparently Rooney will move forward again. I could see them taking Benzema because he likes to play out wide, but they seem to be pretty well set in the box. But I've also just today seen them linked with Villa, Andre-Pierre Gignac of Toulouse and even Michael Owen! (Prompting the headline "Sweet Jesus No!" on one article and making me wonder until I clicked in to the story if it might not be about Milan and Crouch. :D )

Maybe. Maybe not. It depends on what he's accomplished and it depends on the market. Right now I don't think Pato is worth more than David Villa. With young players, it's always something of a gamble regardless of their potential.

eh.... if pato becomes world class he'll eventually move. World class foreign players tend to like to jump league ot league, try new challenges. This is especially true in modern football where players have power, not clubs.....
Look at best players of last generation: Ronaldo, Figo, Zidane, beckham (biggest name) and on and on... Pato isnt italian or from milan, its foolish to think we'll have him forever. At some point if he wins us scudetto or UCL he'll get tired and want a new challenge. I cant blame him

True. But we don't know if Pato will ever be as good or as consistent as David Villa. If I'm a club willing to spend big money on a striker, I'd rather spend my money on a proven guy that I know (barring injury) is going to perform at a world class level every time out and help me win over those three or four years (and who is to say if you sign Pato to a four or five year contract he won't move on at or near the end of it, meaning you've had him for no longer than you had Villa). Don't get me wrong. I have a lot of faith in Pato. But the money being quoted is more than Chelsea or anyone else should be paying for him at this point. There's a reason that experienced, established players have traditionally been moved for more money than young, talented prospects.

Pato wasn't inconsistent.... at milan he went against park the bus defenses... you saw any time he got space of countered he was absolutely lethal (roma v. mexes anyone?) Playing in italy has made pato better cause it forced him to learn new ways... but if he was in spain or england (where its more open, especially spain) He'd probably score 25.
Anyway i get your point and it's valid...all transfers are a Gamble, i think pato cause of his age will give you more return on investment

He wasn't as consistent as guys like David Villa, Torres, etc. And he's still not as good a player at this point as Villa. I would rather pay big money for Villa and have him as the world class spearhead of my striker force for those three or four years you spoke about than to pay big money for Pato and watch him develop during those same years, then leave at or near the end of his contract. There's just no way that Pato should be as valuable on the market as David Villa.

Thinking of the market, I think the best option at the moment would be to take Huntelaar on loan. This would be an initial, low-cost option which would free up funds to build an extremely strong defense and midfield. This would give us Huntelaar, Boriello, Pato, Ronaldinho, and Inzaghi up front.
With the leftover cash, we can start looking at top, world class signings in midfield and defense. Just remember, our defense dropped us out of a lot of games last year.
The one thing is that I wish we would have already made a signing or two. Camp opens on Monday for a lot of the players and it seems like players will trickle in only as time goes this summer. Not good for me who flies to Boston in 3 weeks to see them play Inter!! God only knows what the starting squad will look like!!
drogba and adebayor r very technically skilled, dzeko too... more than benz
Yes, debating about which player is better is very hard because there is no attribute in real life like PES or FM. As you say this, I think that I can't change your opinion:D. No offense:D, but I guess you don't see Benzema playing much;)

I think that's good, sound reasoning. As it stands now, it seems that Huntelaar is probably the number two target behind Fabiano if some of the rumblings are correct. I would love Fabiano, but I'm sure Milan won't pay what Sevilla is asking. Maybe they can come to an agreement in the middle. But I'd be happy with either Fabiano or Huntelaar (or both, of course ;)).

I know it's tough to be patient, but I'd rather Milan brought in the right players rather than the easiest. The transfer period is young.
No I meant whether he'll play like Ronaldinho or just another guy the club pays 6.5m for :D
In other news, Peter "Crouch" officially has the most ironical name ever.

Ah, well, everything is in place for Ronaldinho to have a great season: the opportunity and the incentive of proving himself and earning a place in Brazil's World Cup team. If he doesn't do it now, he'll never get another opportunity like this. So he'd better take advantage of it.

Galliani makes tickets cheeper and with some "bonus" options etc. What is it Galliani, money not going your way? At least people will pay less to see the fight for the 3rd spot.
We have come to the point in which Milan fans, who were the best in buying season tickets, have STOPED buying. Sad story again.
Come on just buy one great player for all that money we made. Fabregas or something like that.

It sounds like we are slowing becoming a 'feeder' club for 'big' teams in Europe!
nah, you could make that same argument for Man U, they sold Becks and Ronaldo in their primes. they still have managed to do ok. the thing is, its ok to periodicly sell your stars provided that you invest the money in new players to keep your team strong, and they become new stars.

More important is to sell top players when it's good timing for the team, not the player.
The new revolution could have been built around Kaka, Pato, and Pirlo. Instead of dumping them, dump the problems - Dida, Slowdorf, Kaladze, Ambro, Janku, etc...
Well, we could have really used Gourcuff to replace Kaka. Nope, sold him too and for a SMALL sum. Doesn't sound like we're making smart moves.
I would rather have sold Ronaldinho to ManCity, than lose Gourcuff.
Don't compare what Man U has done vs what Milan has done these past few years, because Milan mgmt (and Milan Labs) has screwed up after 2003 big time. Man U keeps buying young and talented players, Milan buys mostly cheap, over the hill farts.

I think when it comes to Gourcuff, the move was down to him. That's the thing, and while I am sure that he would have been a good addition to the squad, I would not trust him with taking over from Kaka, quite frankly.
But I don't see why people can get so mad at other players, when Gourcuff was the one who turned down Milan. He was too afraid to come here, and he obviously knew that Ancelotti would leave, as would Kaka, and that he would have a great chance of playing a lot.
So if you ask me, it wasn't the management's fault for Gorky's departure, maybe the fee (but 15million would be a lot for a player that Gorky was for the last two years before) but it was Gorky's fault. He was too much of a coward to come to Milan, and that's fine, that's why he won't make it at a top club.

these old farts have won two champion league trophies in 5 years plus have made it to 3 finals. I hate Milan transfer policy but at least we avoid the mountains of debt incurred by teams like Manchester United and Liverpool.
It not like Milan had a choice when Bordeaux brought Gourcuff they had a clause to buy the player and they invoked it anyway it not like gourcuff ever proved himself at Milan for all we know he could have been a massive flop.
In any case Milan obviously lack the financial fire power to buy talented players forcing Milan to buy old players like emerson ronaldo and brochi and relatively unknown young players like cardacio gourcuff legati and viduez
Hopefully with the cash Milan can buy 4 or 5 younger players and we can have a future base for success.

We'll see about that, but either way management really screwed up by fixing the option to buy at just €15m - I mean if Benzema is worth nearly 3 times that, surely we could've gotten at least twice that amount (not from Bordeaux, but from a richer club).
EDIT: And I don't blame Gourcuff for not wanting to return. He wanted to be sure of a place in France's squad for the World Cup, and even if he knew Kaká was leaving, he wouldn't be guaranteed a regular spot like at Bordeaux. Also if he didn't succeed at Milan the second time around, it would be much more difficult for him to get out, as Milan surely would ask for much more than €15m. Of course it's a very negative/cautious approach, but after his first two seasons here, it's somewhat understandable.
Sell Gorky (a young prospect according to a lot of people) for 15 mil and buy Cissokho (a complete mystery) for those very same 15 mil.
It just defies common sense to me. What's next? Barca sells Messi and replaces him with Abate?
The new revolution could have been built around Kaka, Pato, and Pirlo. Instead of dumping them, dump the problems - Dida, Slowdorf, Kaladze, Ambro, Janku, etc...
To my knowledge, Milan hasn't sold Pato or Pirlo, only Kaka. And selling the players you mentioned would not have been a financial solution at all. Selling all of them wouldn't bring anything close to half the return Milan got for Kaka. It's easy for fans to say "sell this player for X amount," but who is actually going to buy them for the amount you want? Kaka was the only option to bring in that kind of silly money.
Well, we could have really used Gourcuff to replace Kaka. Nope, sold him too and for a SMALL sum. Doesn't sound like we're making smart moves.
Why do people keep saying things like this? Does nobody actually pay attention? Milan never, ever saw Gourcuff as a replacement for Kaka. They had planned to groom him more as a replacement for Pirlo because he lacks speed. But in two full seasons at Milan, he never showed that he could cut it in Serie A. To this day he hasn't proven himself at the Serie A level. It's one thing to be hot doggie doo in France, but something quite different entirely to stand out in Serie A. And it's not as though the guy didn't have plenty of chances. Would Milan have brought him back and given him another opportunity had Bordeaux not exercised their option to buy? Yes, they would have. But at the time Milan loaned him to Bordeaux with the option to buy, he had been pretty much a washout at the San Siro. It's silly for some of you to keep harping on this as though Milan had let Maradona get away in his prime (like, you know, Barcelona did ;)).
We'll see about that, but either way management really screwed up by fixing the option to buy at just €15m - I mean if Benzema is worth nearly 3 times that, surely we could've gotten at least twice that amount (not from Bordeaux, but from a richer club).
Benzema isn't worth three times that and Gourcuff wasn't worth any more than the 15 million at the time the loan option was signed. It's not as though Milan set that price after he had the great season at Bordeaux. They set it after two extremely mediocre seasons at Milan.

But nonetheless Lyon is making nearly three times what we made with Gourcuff's sale. I think management acted irresponsibly by setting the option to buy at €15m. Even if based on his two seasons at Milan he wasn't worth more, he still had potential. There's a reason why we bought him in the first place (petit Zizou!), and there was always a chance, that with some more opportunities that talent would translate into something. And it did. Galliani & Co. dropped the ball there.
It's getting a little annoying with all the Gourcuff crap in here. The point is, a year ago when we 'loaned Gourcuff + option to buy' nobody seemed to mind it. People paid no attention to it. Some called it a good deal and it's good that he is going to get loaned out......others simple didn't care at all.
Now, a year after everyone is being smart and calling it a horrible deal (Caceves this is not dircectly at you but in general response to all the posts about Gourcuff in the last month)....how could we do that......how could we lose him for 15mil.......stupid Galliani.....f u Galliani!!!
It's easy to make decisions once you've seen the outcome isn't it.
Galliani and LEONARDO together went to France to talk to Gourcuff. He obviously knew what was going on at Milan and who was going to be the new coach. HE CHOSE not to come back.....he wanted to stay there because of the WC or whatever the reason. DONE DEAL. That's it. He was sent there to gain confidence and find himself. He did that and then denied the chance to come back.
This is the transfer market. You never have a perfect summer. You win some you lose some. I know Galliani has done some horrible deals, everyone actually involved in business makes bad deals, it's just the way it is. Anyhow as a matter of fact, I am extremely unhappy at what's going on at Milan now and I hate Galliani at the moment. But I won't call the Gourcuff deal the bad deal of the summer because that deal was done a year ago when nobody even expected that Gourcuff will go back to France and become the best player there. Like I said, it's easy to come here and be smart after you've seen the consequences, but where was everyone with these comments 1 year ago when the deal was actually done for Gourcuff.

And it's not that hard to be a little cautious, when dealing with something that involves millions of €.
Noone would've counted on Gourcuff to do what he's done this season, but Milan should at least have considered the possibility. That's my opinion, anyway.
Now for some sad news:
AC Milan Star Clarence Seedorf Turns Down Ajax Offer - Report
The Milan midfielder has rejected a move to former club Ajax, preferring to end his career with the Rossoneri.
According to reports earlier today from Sky, Milan had reached an agreement with Ajax for midfielder Clarence Seedorf, who got his big break as a player at the Dutch club.
However, the move allegedly fell through because the 33-year-old refused a return to his home country, stating that he wants to end his career in Milan.
This was denied by the player's entourage, who stated that Seedorf did receive an offer from new Ajax coach Martin Jol in the past few days, which the player refused, but that no contact had been made between the two clubs.
The attacking midfielder's contract expires in two years. He has been with the Rossoneri since the summer of 2002, winning the Champions League in 2003 and 2007, and the Scudetto in 2004. He won his first Champions League trophy with Ajax in 1995 when he was 19 years old.

I really hope Seedorf plays amazing next season. Not because I'm a huge fan of Seedorf (I'm rather indifferent, to be honest) but because I can't wait to see what people have to say if he does do well.
That's right......he's not stupid to go to Ajax now. They won't nearly offer him the salary that we give him. In any case.....I don't really mind Seedorf here as long as he doesn't play every single match that we are involved in like Carlo used him. Also, if he performs he can play, and if he doesn't he can be a back up. That's the way it should be but Carlo seemed to ignore that fact which is why I think many people are irritated with Seedorf including myself.
Samaldinho,
I am one of the people that lost my patience with Seedorf the last few months of the season. And I'll be glad if he plays great next season. I actually want him to stay here as a back up, and then if he performs make him a starter. I don't care.....because whoever performs should play. It's the way I am....I love Milan. And I don't care about the names of players I just care about their performances. I bashed Kaka on a more then few occasions too because of his inconsistency. If you ask me, Kaka was probably one of the most inconsistent performers this past season and maybe even the year before that (playing great in CL, then turning a crap performance 3 days later in Serie A). And I'm not only saying this now that he is gone, but I was saying it way before the season ended.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Seedorf hater. If he stayed here as a backup I'd be fine with that, but I can't see him accepting that role. Maybe it's just because of all that time Carlo played him when he was clearly not up to it.
Anyway if Seedorf starts starts 40+ games next season and excels I'd be exstatic, and I will have misjudged him. But as it is I cannot see Seedorf having a positive influence on the team next season, unless it's in a more reduced role.
You are right.....but I don't think it'll be a misjudgment on your behalf or anyone's for that matter. Because I think everyone knows that Seedorf is a good player. Even at his age, he is still better that many CMs out there. It's the exact fact that you mentioned about Carlo that has people irritated about Seedorf. I don't think anyone would argue to have a player like Seedorf in their squad.....but if he doesn't perform he'll only be a back up. And right now for me, Seedorf should only be a back up because of his performances. But also, when I say a back up, I don't mean that he only plays if someone gets injured but like you said...give him a reduced role. Play him once every 2/3 games or so. Put him in when we need to close a game because of his intelligence on the field, etc.
He has to understand that he will start from scratch now (Unless he knows that Leonardo has the same kind of admiration for him as Carlo did.........which I highly doubt). And he needs to earn a place. But for some reason I am also afraid of the same thing you are. He is a player with an ego and he won't accept a back up role. It might be a problem within the squad if that happens.

I agree, I don't care if a team of guys who all have spoken of their love of Inter, hate the sport of football, and kicked me in the shin. As long as they are making Milan the best team possible, then I don't care.
I agree, I think Seedorf is a good player. I don't think he has the same energy levels to play as a consistent starter for an entire season. He will be an invaluable backup, and I think the way things are going Milan is really going to look like this:
-----------gk---
---------defense--
--gattuso--pirlo--flamini
---------Dinho
----big cf-----pato
That really is pretty obvious. If Leonardo was really thinking of changing his midfield options, I think Milan would be linked with some midfielders. The reality is that our midfield has to be strong enough to hold the center, win possession, and backup the full-backs pressure forward should they get caught out, or to provide cover when an attack fails in the final third.
Honestly, a midfield trio of Gattuso-Pirlo-Flamini is great for me. Ambro, Seedorf, Abate, and Di Gennaro would be a more than decent backup plan. Add Janku as a possibility, and perhaps Beckham (if he returns) and you really have a strong midfield, at least for next year.
I think the management is going to evaluate Abate and Di Gennaro this coming year, and I have this feeling that perhaps Viudez and Cardacio might become more involved.
It is obvious that Oddo will be a backup in the right back spot, but because of the demands of full-backs in the 4-3-1-2, the full-backs will be the most exhausted of all our players. Meaning: Zambro, Oddo, Janku, and (Criscito/Cissoko) will all be getting a lot of rotation in those positions. Antonini as well.
I think Milan feel that if they cannot get the sort of full-back they want, they'll probably be content with Oddo right, Zambro left, and it seems obvious that the club is putting a lot of faith in Bonera for this coming year. If we do buy anyone, it will be a striker, and while that might be exciting, I honestly think it's less important than our issue at center-back.
If we really had to, we could play Seedorf and Ronaldinho. Ronaldinho getting his freedom and Seedorf being tactically aware as he was for Kaka. Pato in front of them in our usual 4-3-2-1 formation.
I'm not sure if a full-back will even arrive, though I am hopeful. I would prefer Criscito over Cissoko, not just because Criscito is Italian, but because of Criscito's versatility. But again, I doubt Criscito will actually come (I'd love to be surprised) and I have this feeling that Cissoko will eventually come.

Plus: I think the fact that the club seem somewhat open to Seedorf's departure, shows that they too want to get rid of, or at least reduce the wages of many players. However, they have deals to honor and contracts that bind them.
I wish Kaladze was given to Chelsea when he was on the verge of switching a few years back, because I honestly have never rated him in a Milan shirt, ever. But, then again, I just don't see how the club really can get some of these players out. They were rewarded contract extensions, because the way they played afforded them that right.
I am starting to believe more and more in Ronaldinho's reemergence as a force in world football. Watching old games of Dinho, you can see that his passes were there, it was just about understanding with the other strikers. I really think that Ronaldinho will be someone we rely on, not just out of necessity, but really because he will preform.
why they hell did seedorf reject the move

I hope it is true...luis is by far the most underrated Brazilian o the last 20 years.
I was reading a editorial in Goal.com about him, and it´s amazing to see a guy to write an article, talk about a player and be so wrong. It was clear that the guy never watch Luis playing i Sevilla or São Paulo.
To say that L. Fabiano hasn´t flair and skills only show the guy never saw Luis playing...
Anyway, Ronaldinho was in my city here in Brazil(Salvador) some days ago, and it was amazing to see he´s still overweight. It was clear(in a eye perpective) he had 4 or 5kg to shed.
I know some players gain some weight in the off season, but to see a guy that is playing overweight for the last 3 years still a little fat, makes me sad. I hope he proves me wrong, and the world Cup is near, but after to see him here in my City, I still have no hope he will be back to the old days...:sob:
EDIT: Just found a youtube video of him in my city in Ronaldinho thread to show that he´s fat:

True, but they have it a bit easier in England. They can sign players who are younger than 18 unlike in Italy. I'm not sure about how many non-eu players they can buy, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was no limit.
Anyways, Nani and Anderson both cost about the same as Pato, and Pato > them ;)

Gourcuff is gone, and quite franky, if I was him I would have stayed in Bordeux too. 1. It is in France. 2. Milan never showed me any love. 3. Milan is a mess. Why would someone who is being make the next big thing or is the next big thing in France join a club in crisis.
Seedorf, there is only one reason why he is staying and thats b/c Milan is paying him wages he can't even get 25% from other clubs. I bet that Carlo wants him at the Blues but Roman probably said NO, NO, NO and NO. He might be a great player 15 yrs ago, but he is pure crap in 95% of the games now. He slowed down the play and allows the opposing team to rush back in defense.
Samueldinho, for all the physical play/speed of the game you been saying Milan should adopt, I just found it hard to see that you are supporting Seedorf to play well.
If Galli really is heading toward Seville to sign Luis, pls don't make an offer of 13MIl as thats insulting.
As for MIlan having first option on Real players, while won't ManU have that too as they also sold them CR7.

True, but they have it a bit easier in England. They can sign players who are younger than 18 unlike in Italy. I'm not sure about how many non-eu players they can buy, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was no limit.
Anyways, Nani and Anderson both cost about the same as Pato, and Pato > them ;)
Couldn´t agree more, my friend...couldn´t agree more ;)
Btw, Fergusson is killing Anderson development playing him as a DM...Anderson was the best player of U-20 Word Cup as a offensive midfield even with Mexico trashing my Brazil in the final. Now he´s just a good/average defensive mid.
Even his ability to deliver amazing long range shots disapeer...Congrats to fergusson to turn a WC midfield in a average DM:5milan:
